Looking Forward

There are those moments when it seems  That you’d rather be doing something else distracted by strong whims and dreams it comes in throbbing shafts and welts Seeing a loved one when you cannot because you’re occupied by work or fear and holding to hopes that you were taught and breathing wishes that they were here. Will be

My mother told me years ago, when she saw the way girls would look at me, wide eyed for a little boys with pale gray eyes and deceptive dimples. She told me what is meant to be will be, love can take hold of you and mix you up.

Now I never lived my life like I was a piece in a chess board, waiting for destiny to move me around when it felt so inclined. But as a child I believed.

But now I know love out of convienence is no love at all. I would rather sail and sink that be too afraid to ever venture out the harbor. A love that is meant to be is the one you wake up everyday and fight for violently over and over.

Tell me if you’re for or against me,

So I will know where we stand.

Once more I proclaim

I desired so passionately-

so ardently,

to give my all to the altar

but you proudly dismissed me for my adolescence.

That was the part of the story you were supposed to admire those young ones

that wanted to make a stand,

but you didn’t.

You made it so difficult to minister I almost stopped;

pried me away from the Altar of my Lover

I wanted to stand closer than we do but we are eons apart:

we are not kindred spirits, and never will be.

A humbling month, starting from a medical illness to the cancellation of my new event with an all-star lineup at @housingworksbks. I had teammates willing to show up and get rolling, but Housing Works Bookstore disagreed because of bad weather, so life goes on. In recovery mode, you do the work to become another phase. The Doomed Computer

There is this laptop I once had

and when I first took it out of it’s box

I dropped it accidentally

but it seemed to withstand the knock!

It’s screen was somewhat cracked

but it still was working fine.

It was an average built computer

But after a short amount of time...

I woke up one wierd morning

and expected to find it intact

But the casing, I had discovered

was actually very cracked.

So I figured “Why not I fix it?”

So I got a chewed up piece of gum...

and I stuck in the crevice...

I was so glad I even chewed some!

Later, the frame around the screen

had started to separate...

and so I thought this little problem

I should quickly terminate.

So I grabbed a roll of masking tape

and I wrapped it all around.

I thought “My repairing skills are top notch”

and I thought I was safe and sound...

My computer despite the odds

was still running and working great

It was an unsightly thing...

And I blamed the thing we call Fate.

Then it cracked in other places...

but I ran out of masking tape

So I stuck on it some band aids

onto it’s poor, distorted, shape...

But it still was up and running!

and I didn’t care how it looked

and all it’s hope of looking good

I feel had been forsook.

A few weeks had come and gone

when I decided to make it stabler

with the use of a handy dandy

maximum air powered stapler.

But then I looked for another one

for my old laptop to replace

because it didn’t just stop working...

It blew up in my face!

I know you have heard this a thousands times 

from lips way much more seductive than mine

but you look like you taste like honey and the sun

on July mornings when it peeks over the houses on fifth

and shines into my bedroom to remind me to have a good day 

Like sunshine and sweetness dripping off your skin

And I have always been a sucker for sunburn

and i hear honey kisses are a great way

to heal a sun cracker heart like mine
