I just love how we find breadcrums - I went on a comment section on a DPS post and a comment by SonjaToastbrot led me to this trailer. If you're on tiktok (I am extremely confused as to whether it is back) and Instagram does have reels of the French production which looks FANTASTIC - But this is a trailer of the German production - Hope this is helpful

i will forget about the way

we didn't ask for,

a war that ruined

the taste

of heaven on my lips,

waves of differing heights

i'll forget about the dreams

we buried beneath our fallen city,

the unread text messages,

the unpublished reels, drowned

in the echo of grenade raining

the afternoon sky, cries

of dissenters swarming the streets

like flies, shrieking out "freedom!"

oh, freedom,

when will i...

forget about everything

and write about cicadas,ignore

the ashes and screams filling

the air as i watch your head explode,

a watermelon being run over

by a truck!

i will teach myself

to write a poem that

doesn't immortalize you

however, everything

that you were stains

Steven Meeks as Your Boyfriend

Oh, how I love this boy!

Meeks is shy to ask you out due to Charlie's teasing.

You make the first move because Neil gave you a huge pep talk in the dining hall after dinner

He opens his door to find you standing there and smiles

You ask to kiss him, and he more than happily replies yes.

Carries your books for you.

Walks you to your classes.

He likes any excuse to get closer to you.

During tutoring he will place his arm on your shoulder as he teaches you Trig.

Charlie will make fun of you guys, but you just laugh it off.

Knox and Meeks have grown extremely close because you share a room with Knox.

Meeks is always over; especially when Knox is out for the night

He loves to cuddle and refuses to let you go once he is comfortable

You don't mind it.

Meeks has little freckles all over his hands and face and you kiss them when he gets upset or stressed out

Especially when he's stressed out over school or something Charlie has done.

He acts like he doesn't like it, but he smiles a little wider with every kiss you plant.

Sometimes when you can't find him in his room you find him in the library with Pitts and silently join them

His first date with you outside of school grounds was a museum he found of one of your interests.

He likes to read books about things he knows you enjoy.

Dancing to the radio in your room after dark.

All of his poems have become about you and it's extremely obvious.

In the cave he sets his coat down for you to sit on and the two of you share your coat on cold nights

The first time he saw you in his sweater he was speechless

All he could do was kiss you.

He still gets shy around you, even months into the relationship.

The first time he got drunk, he threw up and you were forced to take care of him and Knox.

You were sitting on the floor of your room with his head in your lap

He looked up at you and told you he loved you for the first time.

I just finished rewatching Dead Poets Society, and had the urge to listen to Hadestown (amazing show highly recommend), the second half of the show specifically, as if my sorrow wasn't enough. When I tell you, the first song I played was Road to Hell reprise, and almost started bawling, because it perfectly showcases the average DPS fan rewatching experience:

yo weird thought i just had-

if y’all look at the people that the dead poets tend to be friendly with that’s outside of the dead poets society, the two people that stand out are stick and spencer

they’re the only two characters we see interacting with the dead poets the most- like i know y’all remember when knox threw a paper ball at spencer, when stick was the first person waiting as charlie was walking out of nolan’s office after his punishment for the “call from god” stuff he pulled, and stick is even in the background acknowledging the conversation and smiling when knox broke the news to the dead poets that he read his poem to chris

to add onto this, stick and spencer are the only two other people that sit at the same lunch table as the dead poets meaning that they were there when the dead poets found keatings yearbook picture and questioned what the dps was. they were the only people that we know of that heard about the dps but never actually joined it- if they really cared to, they could’ve been the ones that pieced the puzzle together from the article that charlie published in the school paper that those seven friends were the dps and they secretly knew it the entire time but probably didn’t question or care for it until it was brought up

THOUGHTS ON THE WOMEN OF DPS

Hear me out DPS is largely centered around its male ensemble - but we get so much information about what women went through during the time....

We see two women primarily - A mother and a literal Girl and here's the thing...they both wear Pink. Like almost the same shade of pink in two crucial scenes, in which their presence is undermined by the actions of a man and boy respectfully. Mr Perry is screaming at his son and Mrs Perry is in the background unable to exactly take a stand.

Chris is in the theatre, seated beside the boy who constantly persisted her and assaulted her while she was under the influence of alcohol. (Also Knox knew what he was doing - he took the drink murmured Carpe Diem...in that one scene). She's silently watching the show and Knox looks at her as if he's finally done something. And then he taken her hand...And she doesn't react against it...

Also, the one thing about Chris is that she genuinely doesn't want to stir up trouble for Knox - and is almost pressured by him to have a relationship with him - he plays his cards - and the outcome? He finds her at their school. At Welton.

And interesting point - she laughs about the idea of Chet being at the play - Like theatre isn't a thing for a guy like him - And whatever she does needs to check his requirements? Either way she can't go to the theatre for her own need or liking - she needs to fulfill his requirements...

The thing is pink is the traditional colour palette for women. I mean we also see Mrs. Danbury but like she doesn't wear pink and the one other time I think I can point to is the girl that Knox mistakes Chris for? The choice was made to put these two women in the same colour palette and it carries weight. The women are in relationships with a man and boy(s) who are prominent in their circles - they have power, which they don't have. They are in the softest colour palettes. Despite their age difference they are put into similar circumstances.

Mrs. Perry cannot protect Neil - Chris is unable to defend her own case

They both have to go with what happens, without a say.

Mrs. Perry loses her son

Chris becomes an object of love that should be WON (Knox says something along the lines of - SHE'LL BE MINE)

Mrs. Perry is put into an emotionally toxic state and resorts to smoking (coping)

Chris is humiliated and made a fool out of

The circumstances vary according to their age - BUT they are very similar - At the end of the day the men play the cards and have the power and the women are stripped off of their power and agency made into archetypes (wives- lovers)...

I think it's a pretty interesting way to construct characters who are reflections of the society at the time. Now if Ginny was included this would've slightly altered things... 1) Ginny wears dark blue 2) But she does wear pink at the show 3) In the book if I am not mistaken Charlie kinda begins to like her?

i love that scene in dead poets society where neil wakes up todd in the middle of the night telling him he faked his death and they kiss and run away to nyc with the rest of the group and on a timeskip neil wins an emmy for best actor while todd is releasing book after book and also being an english teacher
