No Myelin, I don’t think that a pickaxe can solve this.
Comic about that one guy who shows up for five seconds and then dips again for another month or seven.

Crossing the Node
Nerve axons – slender projections, the route of signals from neurons to other cells – are insulated with a sheath called myelin to ensure signals stay on track, however, there are specialised gaps in the wrapping at Nodes of Ranvier which aid signal conduction. This study, using time-lapse microscopy in live mice, investigates how these nodes impact the essential transport of neurons' contents such as mitochondria (highlighted here in cyan) and endosomes (in magenta) along the axons, providing insight into nerve function in health, injury and disease

LOA Star Wars!!! Last of the Daisy fam for now with Outlaw Honey!!
Info under cut
she’s an outlaw along side her father but she’s not as wanted, which works to her advantage. Like her father and sister she can’t speak and communicate through hand codes. She was a pilot for the republic for a time and was in yellow squadron and from that she formed a very good friendship with Queenie, which helped when things went to shit. She’s a very good pilot and also a very good shot with her blaster.
Honey had one very close encounter with death the day that her and Myelin escaped coresacant, with the help of Queenie, she fully recovered though. Now while her dad runs from bounty hunters and looks for a a way to clear his name; Honey is looking for her sister, she’s heard rumours of a young Jedi girl looking for Myelin and she’s hoping it’s Daisy.

You guys…
It’s been 5 YEARS SINCE I WAS DIAGNOSED 😱
I just went in for bloodwork that I had to book because my neurologist has pretty much written me off as healthy
The lady taking my blood asked me when I was diagnosed and I thought about it and did the math and I was like wait…whoa. 5 YEARS?!
She proceeded to tell me I looked so good and so healthy - she thought I was just in the process of diagnosis. She said most people she sees after just a couple of years have noticeably declined so much, she couldn’t believe how healthy I seemed. She said just keep doing whatever you’re doing because it’s working!
Best appointment ever.
I’m so grateful. And proud of myself.
5 YEARS !

Ancient viruses that infected vertebrates hundreds of millions of years ago played a pivotal role in the evolution of our advanced brains and large bodies.
Next, they searched for RetroMyelin-like sequences in the genomes of other species, finding similar code in jawed vertebrates – fellow mammals, birds, fish, reptiles and amphibians – but not in jawless vertebrates or invertebrates.
This led them to believe the sequence appeared in the tree of life around the same time as jaws, which first evolved around 360 million years ago in the Devonian period, called the Age of Fishes.

#chronisch #Diagnose #Entzündliche_Krankheit #Forschung #Gehirn #Multiple_Sklerose #Myelin #Neuronen #Neurowissenschaft #Sklerose #Vermehrung

Brain Tumour Fuel
Cancer cells interact with the surrounding tissue – the tumour microenvironment – receiving energy-giving molecules. Studying this metabolic exchange in mice, macrophages – large cells of the immune system – in the tissue surrounding the brain tumour glioblastoma are discovered to recycle nerves' fatty covering called myelin which then drives the tumour cells to become more aggressive; thereby revealing a potential target to attenuate the disease
