Icebound episode 12 and 13 spoilers

I feel like in Icebound the Avantris crew is just slightly less chaotic than, say, OUAW or Uprooted, but then they get kidnapped by Ogres and immediately decide to convince them they're gods from Ogre Heaven and come up with elaborate names and titles. I'm still in shock that Andy, after missing the previous session, wakes up as Skrimm and immediately ALSO tries to convince the ogres that he sees that he's a god, but with far less luck. How did they ALL do that?

absolutely fascinated with how Honey somehow manages to haunt both the narrative AND the players themselves over the course of Icebound

she had such little screentime - barely a full session - and yet she’s their first failure. Unequivocally, Honey’s death acts as the party’s first genuine failure. Not Roland (they couldn’t have saved him if they tried), not the Captain (the Princess of Wrath took that choice from them), but it was Honey that they tried so hard to save and couldn’t.

And then they find Daisy, and she looks so similar, and they do everything they can to save her, because like hell are they going to get both of them killed, and it works!

And it’s so INTERESTING because they never forget about Honey, even when they never talk about her. They named her and they barely ever talk about her. Even in the most recent episodes - when they’ve known Daisy for 10x as long as they ever knew her sister - they’ll still slip up and call Daisy by the wrong name. It’s so painfully obvious that they still blame themselves for her death even when they’re defending themselves to Myelin.

It’s why Barnabos tries so hard to discourage Daisy from travelling with them, and why Jornir constantly reminds her she might die if she leaves her father and the other humans, and why Queenie puts such an emphasis on Honey’s bow.

(It’s also very interesting that Mikey seems to slip up the most and gets the names confused. Man’s HAUNTED haunted)

We never even get to see Honey and Daisy have a conversation - not even in flashbacks - but Honey’s been there the entire time, just off-screen.

spoilers for episode 6 & beyond of icebound

the daisy/honey/myelin family makes me ill and distraught, I'm losing my mind

the idea that myelin sees the icebound crew as bad luck and a tear in his plan to free his daughters that's he's worked on for years; meanwhile, both daisy and honey saw see them as a blessing and a lesson that people can still have power and be kind/caring towards others & strive to help them..

and even then, myelin having worked on this plan for years still wouldn't account for both daisy and honey not having the actual experience to survive by themselves paired with myelin likely not having the opportunity/time to teach them which set them both up to be doomed from the start..

she’s an outlaw along side her father but she’s not as wanted, which works to her advantage. Like her father and sister she can’t speak and communicate through hand codes. She was a pilot for the republic for a time and was in yellow squadron and from that she formed a very good friendship with Queenie, which helped when things went to shit. She’s a very good pilot and also a very good shot with her blaster.

Honey had one very close encounter with death the day that her and Myelin escaped coresacant, with the help of Queenie, she fully recovered though. Now while her dad runs from bounty hunters and looks for a a way to clear his name; Honey is looking for her sister, she’s heard rumours of a young Jedi girl looking for Myelin and she’s hoping it’s Daisy.

he’s an outlaw and wanted by the republic but he’s very skilled at avoiding them. Since he travels a lot he’s obtained numerous amounts of contacts in different parts of the galaxy. Like daisy he can’t speak and has the scar on his neck, he also uses hand codes to communicate through it seems that the bounty hunters after him tend to blast first and ask questions later.

Myelin used to be an admiral in the republic’s army so he could stay close to Daisy, since Myelin didn’t let the Jedi take her willingly. Myelin was then framed for tampering with classified documents and possibly killing a fellow officer, so now he’s on the run and travelling with his eldest daughter Honey!

I thought of this au idea last night but forgot to post it

So. Icebound Little Mermaid AU.

Daisy and Honey (and the other humans) are mermaids. Daisy is very adventurous and very curious about the human world, and Honey shares that adventurous spirit and curiosity, but she’s more anxious about it and wants to protect her sister. Myelin is still their dad, and he doesn’t want them to even THINK about exploring the human world because that’s how their mother got killed

Anyway, the More Abound sails over their territory, and Daisy is very curious bc she’s never seen a ship before. So she sneaks up to the surface of the water, and she sees Taishen, Barnabos, and the other humans on board partying (like in episode 1). Taishen and the humans interest her, of course, because she’s never seen creatures like those before (she’s seen Tritons before, hence why Barnabos doesn’t interest her quite as much). Then the party dies down, and Skrimm runs up to Barnabos and Taishen, and it’s essentially like how Ariel reacted when she first saw Eric in the movie.

Anyway, Myelin finds out that Daisy went to the ship, and he gets pissed off, and grounds her. Daisy gets upset and runs away (with Honey following her). She goes to someone who promises to give her a spell to make her human, but the price is cutting out her vocal cords. She agrees, turns human, and with the help of Honey, swims up to the surface of the water, to which then the crew of the More Abound see her and get her out of the water.

From that point on, the plot of Icebound plays out mostly the same, except if they had known Daisy all along.

The entire time tho, Barnabos keeps saying that Daisy has to be a mermaid (“the only woman on board was Ms March, and there’s no way she would’ve been able to survive in that icy cold water for that long). Skrimm and Queenie thinks he’s crazy, Jornir and Taishen are hearing him out but also not really believing him, but everyone else on the ship are believing him. I mean, who else would know this much about mermaids other than a Triton?

So Daisy doesn’t like Barnabos much at first. Think of how Barnabos treated Jornir in the beginning, and how Jornir didn’t like Barnabos much at first. Queenie, on the flip side, IMMEDIATELY gets attached to Daisy, and they’re practically joined at the hip by the end of the week.

Honey is still here btw. She’s staying close to the ship, and keeping an eye on her sisters well being until they get to Drakkar and away from the water.
