Art Year In Review!

So it's that time of year again where I look back at all the art I managed to post in the last 12 months. And instead of doing my usual collage, I felt like putting it all together in a little video/slide show this time around.

I'm also just a little over a week away from the "anniversary" of my heart attack on Dec 28th of 2022. If I've felt driven to create more than ever since coming out on the other side of that, well...I could go on at length about that. But let's just say it was sobering and shocking and made me feel like there isn't a moment of my time I want to be wasting when I could be creating instead, 'cause who knows how much time any of us have left?

I wanted to especially say thank you with this vid to all the incredible writers I got to work with this year. Some of you I'd partnered with before and it was great to get to do so again. Others, I've been a fan of for ages, and it was a dream and privilege to get to do art for one of your stories! Purgatory - Part 5

Set 15x20 didn’t happen AU.  They defeated Chuck, but something is still wrong because Dean is wandering around in a fog of not caring about anything.   A trip to hell shakes loose his funk and he realises that whatever is messing with him mind won’t be able to if he is in purgatory.  It may also be the answer to something else.

It’s so exciting to be posting here on the first day of the @deancasreversebang for 2023! And I can’t wait for everyone to have the chance to read the incredible story del wrote inspired by the second art piece above.

For this DCRB, I wanted to do a submission inspired by one of my own favorite artists. I ended up choosing David Hockney and one of his most famous works, Portrait of an Artist (Pool with Two Figures). Some of the earliest watercolors I did some thirty-odd years ago were directly influenced by Hockney’s pool paintings, and I thought this one would work so well adapted to Dean and Cas. The painting for the title banner was also inspired by Hockney, one of his later photo collage pieces, Pearblossom Highway. 

It’s such an amazing experience to get to see a story spun out from one of my art works, and I promise this one is really special. Please go forth, read, and share the love!

When Dean and Cas got married, Dean was given a very small piece of Cas’ grace. In turn, he’s now able to see Cas’ wings when he unfurls them.

Some mornings Cas gets up before Dean wakes to stretch his wings in the early light. It takes Deans breath away every time he sees it, pretending to sleep so he can watch Cas be so at ease and peaceful.
