I binged your story after tumblr suggested it to me and it’s so good it invaded my dreams seriously, I’m gonna put down a quick recap on the off chance you wanna know if not just take my praise and ignore below, you’re writing is soooooo good! I really felt for the reader and even the guys kinda you were able to evoke my empathy for these characters and had me on the edge of my seat in just a few short chapters thank you so much for sharing your work! (Seriously I’m sharing you with all my book girls they love angst this is right up their alley)
I dreamt reader washed her hands of the men and got an arranged marriage with a nerd (like square glasses pocket protector stereo type) named ?teddy? Who was really nice and had a sleeper build and I think a library job? They adopted some giant fish & idk my dream started loosing whatever plot it had around there with something about a train trip anyways I woke up confused and wondering if arranged marriage dating apps were even a real thing and google says yes, so yeah you’re story inspired an odd though kinda sweet AU dream and my husband questioning my recent google searches 😂
I'm stuck on the arranged marriage idea now!
so my previous bosses ALL had arranged marriages and were explaining how it worked or how they met (an ad or through parents). And honestly, I would eat UP one where Indian reader dumps her artistic boyfriend who she's had to financially support for four years now and finally relents letting her parents play match maker. She's shocked to find that instead of the son of one her mother's friends (who her mom and been BRAGGING about for years), her dad had arranged for her to meet his very good friend and colleague John Price.
Reader is pissed at first. 1) because he is almost a decade older than her and 2) "A white man? NO!"
But turns out, John is ready to settle down. Doesn't care if you want to be a housewife, a stay at home mom or have a career. He's just so totally over dating in his mid-30s and wants a wife.
Even funnier, your dad tries to boost the fact that his mom is dead so you won't have a mother-in-law (this is literally what one of my bosses' father did) He was like "and his mother is dead, kanna" 💀
She marries John and doesn't realize the man has had fifteen years of income just building and building in the bank since he had been deployed for most of his life and hadn't gotten a chance to spend it. When he notices that she's getting things and hasn't gotten a notification he's like "this is your money. Spend. It."

Iiitttss Kazumi magica doppels wheeeee! The kazumi girls are done so. Fucking. Dirty. In magireco. Im so viciously mad about how shit Carola is
Well anyway lets start. Carola is completely redone, based on when Kazumi is transforming into a witch along with other aspects. She seems to be very based on curls and such. Kept the chef hat cause thats like the ONLY good part of the original. Michiru’s witch is regular while Kazumi’s will incorporate parts of her clones, tying her up like shes not in control.
Now where’s Umika’s witch? Um… I was so utterly uninspired by not only her but also her doppel, like, man, I couldnt think of ANYTHING. Maybe another time…
As much as I love the trans icon Antonio, its so not Kaoru its unbelievable. So new Antonio is metallic to match with one of Kaoru’s abilities and they have big feet to focus on the football theme. This is definitely a first go, they need more work
Weisse Konigin, Niko’s witch. Shes a little hard cause there isnt much to her but I think simple can be good. Niko is suspended in the middle of the target and the doppels arms go into the ground to attack with her blades. The hole in her head is dripping with blood
Ritterustrung von Heulsuse and Satomi. My poor sweet Satomi… forgotten… v-v dont worry Satomi, I love you… Satomi is inside the cage of her witch with her legs sticking out. I simplified down the witch and gave her one big arm for her whip to suit the more simple appearances doppels usually go for
Plejaden von Asunaro. Saki is inside the closed, crying eye of the witch. Miyuri’s silhouette is in another part of the doppel and it is on a stalk like a flower.
Angelica, Mirai’s witch thought up by me. Of course it would be a teddy. Is it too simple? Maybe… It has her blade and the circle on its chest resembles Saki’s witch.
Another fanmade witch, for Kanna. I intended her to be the opposite of Niko’s. Schwarzer Konig, black king to oppose the white queen. Her hands match one of Niko’s abilities, able to fire bullets. The body of the witch matches Kanna’s outfit.
Nie Bluhen Herzen for Airi. Similar to her half witch appearance, not too hard. She’d use the defibrilators for attack
Arzt Kocken for Yuuri, kinda a match to Airi’s. Arzt Kocken is her bottom half and Yuuri wields her forks.
Zweikopfiger boser flugel and the Souju twins. Dunno if I like it 100% the girls have the collars of the witch and threee mouths to represent their three forms
I wanted to give a witch to Sumire. Since she was in the freezer, I gave her one of the witches that appeared there. And as she has a Japanese styled outfit I went for the kagami mochi witch. Sumire sits on her tendrills like a swing and she shoots oranges.

Is Teruhashi based off of the author's wife? Part 1
Saiki K published in 2010 in one short chapter, and was serialized from May 2012 to February 2018 (chapter 1-279).
Kokomi appeared in 2012. Her attitude at the beginning of chapter 5 was narcissistic. She flirted with the new transferred boys in chapters 18 and 66
And now I want to focus on the year 2014 since the author started to be a big fan of dempagumi.INC. He tweeted that he went to the first idol concert in November 2014.
His coworker/assistant who helped drawing Saiki k. manga (三原すばる/Mihara Subaru) drew this manga panel, and he was the one who made the author a big fan of Dempagumi (his wife is an idol in this group) in 2014.
I 2014, his wife's hairstyle appeared in chapter 87. Kokomi could sing in chapter 90. Kusuo admited that he was a tsundere in chapter 92.
Chapter 101. Kokominzu. Um... Being Otaku can affect to manga. His wife also has a fan club.
Chapter 114 Saiko appeared. He was the man of Kokomi's dream, but the author made Kokomi more loyal to Kusuo and stopped flirting with a new boy.
In 2016, there was a turning point. Kusuo was more open to Kokomi and respects her feelings. He got rid of the guys in the mixer (Chapter 182). He bought her a present (Chapter 204). Kusuo said offu with his own mouth to Kokomi (Chapter 214). He praised Kokomi we are invisible (Chapter 218)
In the same year, the author did draw his wife as Aiura Mikoto, and Aizawa Risa as Kokomi (chapter 219) and he tweeted it on 7 nov 2016. Does this prove that Risa is kokomi to the author?
Yumemi posted this picture and got the comment that she was Nendou (because of her height). If it is because of the height, I can arrange their heights in order.
Boy cosplay: Yumemi is 170cm (Nendou 191cm) > Mogami 162cm (Saiki 167cm) > Fujisaki 157cm (Kaidou 159cm)
Girl Cosplay: Furukawa 165cm (Mikoto 166cm) > Aizawa 159 (Kokomi 164cm) > Naruse 160cm (Chiyo 156cm)
There was a comment that said "As I thought, Aso sensei is a big fan of Risa-chan, aren't you? " (because he drew her as Kokomi and we all know that Kokomi is his favorite female character). The author didn't reply/answer the comment.
However, the queen came and claimed her crown! The author's wife (Furukawa-san) wrote on her twitter that "it is ok to offu" the same day the author tweeted that drawing. We all know there is one character who wants to hear offu. So who is the real kokomi?
I guess 2016 was the year they were bf/gf. That's why it's a turning point for Kusuo. I mean I wouldn't care if a big fan of mine likes or married another woman, but I do care if someone thinks my boyfriend likes another woman. Both of them couldn't say it out loud because his wife is an idol (must be secret).
In December 2018, the author proposed to his wife on Saiki animation S3 ep 1
Chapter 265 and S3ep1
In manga
1st choice「はしもと かんな と けっこん」→ married to Hashimoto Kanna (she starred as Kokomi in live action).
2nd choice 「よしおかりほ と けっこん」→ married to Yoshioka Riho (the actress).
3rd choice 「ガッキーとけっこん」 → married to Gakki (Aragaki Yui: not relate to Saiki k).
But in anime s.3 ep.1 (Netflix doesn’t translate the texts in anime.), Asō sensei changed
no. 2 to「かやの あい と けっこん」married to Kayano Ai (Kokomi’s voice in anime)
no.3 to でんぱぐみのだれか(とけっこん) → Married someone in Dempagumi(.inc).
He grouped his wife with Kokomi in animation. I guess his wife likes Kokomi or he sees his wife beautiful as kokomi. Anyways, he is so sweet to do a marriage proposal on anime and this'll alway be on Saiki k anime forever .
18 september 2019 The author announed that he and Furukawan-san would get married (one day before his wife birthday, 19 sep), and they had got married in november 2019 (the same month they met each other.
His coworker (三原すばる/Mihara Subaru) wrote on the manga panel, the result of being an otaku for 5 years (from 2014 to 2019). Congratulations on marriage!
So, it is Furukawa-san that the author likes from the beginning, and Furukawa-san was Mikoto in that drawing because of the height. One thing we should know about the author that he likes to trick the readers. The same as he tricked us about Aiura´s soulmate which is Toritsuka.
In my opinion, Kokomi wasn't based off the author's wife in the beginning (because they didn’t met each other from start of Saiki k. (2012), but they met each other before half of saiki k. manga 2014). Kokomi is his type and she looks similar to his wife. So, he likes his wife from the first day. The author changed Kokomi to be more nicer: not narcissistic and loyal: stop fooling around. She is beautiful, has fanclub and talented like his wife (a little based off his wife), but not a 100% like his wife because some personalities of his wife are taken to the other characters. His wife had a lack of communication at school and dislikes insects (that's kusuo character from 2012). She is a gamer. She likes ramen (Umm, it's nendou character from 2012).
The question: Doesn´t Kusuo end up with Kokomi if the author and his wife haven't met?
Answer: I would think that Kokomi’s still narcissistic and would chase after him until the end without Kusuo showing that he liked her or not. Being aroace, I guess.
But the author planned from the beginning that they have same birthday month and he sent them together (Kokomi asked for a decent boy and saw kusuo on her birthday, his father asked God for a nice girlfriend for his son and Kokomi appeared). The ending would be the same that kusuo chooses kokomi in chapter 279 (He doesn´t make a 100% clear and the readers have to interpret the ending).
The picture from animation released in 2019, the year that they had got married or manga chapter 281 released in 2018, the year that the author proposed his wife. He made kusuo and Kokomi canon (Saiki likes Teruhashi in the last scene). The picture shows Kusuo startled when he heard someone called Kokomi. He didn't react anything to other friends, only reacted to Kokomi. He smiles after her words and quickly grabs glasses (save the world and grant Kokomi´s wish). Kusuo said he liked trouble which refered to Kokomi (chapter 181). Both of them like each other. The end ଘ(੭◌ˊᵕˋ)੭* ੈ♡❤️🎉‧₊˚
Chapter 181 and Reawakened ep. 6
Chapter 181 kokomi admited she liked kusuo and Reawakened ep. 6 (Chapter 281) kusuo said he liked trouble, kokomi. Ironically, he referenced/linked this romantic couple (SaiTeru) 100 chapters apart. The same as 100 chapters apart for this couple: Mikoto met Reita for the first time in chapter 173 and Reita has pink hair in chapter 73. With the pun of the characters’ names and this reference, this author is literally brilliant!
I'm not sure if the author changed Kokomi’s personality to be nicer after knowing his wife and made Kusuo´s heart swayed for kokomi the same timeline of their relationship on purpose or he did plan about this, even he didn´t meet his wife. Edit The author made terusai happened the same timeline of theirs relationship after I saw he referred himself as saiki and Kokomi as his wife in chapter 115. See extra: is Teruhashi is based off of the author’s wife? I am so sure that the author is so sweet. He even changed the storyline that Kokomi is (a little) based off his wife and saiki is a tsundere. The author saw his wife beautiful like kokomi (miss perfect in his eyes) and that’s why he grouped Kokomi and his wife in a marriage proposal. Kokomi and his wife has effort (this is definitely his type). The most important is his wife wanted to be Kokomi. “It’s ok to offu”. The author will do everything for his wife and it seems to me that his wife likes kokomi and is SaiTeru. Kokomi is favoured by the author God. Both of them are SaiTeru.
I like to think that the author say this to his wife
«I couldn´t have done it without her. With your powers and mine, we can´t fail. We´re invicible.»

Glass Roses - A Kanna Kizuchi Fic
[Read on Ao3!]
Rated: T Your Turn to Die - Up Until the end of Chapter 2 Words: 2,550 Warnings: Canon Typical Anguish, Death, and Depictions of Torture
Kanna, in the shards of glass that remain after everything falls apart.
This was written for the amazing YTTD Epilogue Zine! Be sure to check out the other amazing artists and writers in this!! This project's a bit old, I wrote this over 2 years ago! But this is still one of my favourite projects to be apart of, it was so much fun!
--
Teardrops are sliding down Kanna’s face slowly, taunting her. They taste terrible, salt, sweat, snot and sorrow, but Kanna isn’t sure she’ll be able to breathe right if she closes her mouth.
Kanna sits on the floor, it's hard and cold and she can feel tiny pieces of grit and dirt digging into her skin. They’re tiny needles and barbs, small whispers and reminders. Each tiny pinprick sings to her, “you deserve this.”
Reko’s hand is resting on her back, making light circles. Her hand is wide and warm, the tips of her nails blunt. Not her sister. Kugie’s hand was slim and cool to the touch. Her nails were long, painted in perfectly even strokes.
Kanna’s not sure whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing. She knows the hand attempting to comfort her isn’t Kugie’s. It won’t ever be Kugie’s. Not anymore.
Everytime she thinks about that for a moment too long, her lungs seem to have the air siphoned out of them, until she’s wheezing and choking on her own lack of oxygen.
But on the other hand, Kanna doesn’t need Reko’s hand to pretend that Kugie’s beside her.
The voice is already whispering in her ears; or rather, it hasn’t yet stopped.
Kugie screamed when she was crushed. A loud, raspy scream accompanied by a grotesque splattering, splintering, crushing noise. Within the echoes of that scream, a whispering voice remains, ringing around and around with no end.
Kanna stares at the floor as Reko murmurs, touch still light and gentle.
It only makes things worse.
The floor is so shiny. So pristine and clean. Was this building freshy built to torture them? Or did the kidnappers simply scrub it clean before they had arrived.
It’s so sickeningly shiny. Kanna can see her reflection. Kanna can see Kugie’s reflection.
The more Kanna cries the more her vision blurs, the more her reflection distorts, her features melting away leaving Kugie in her place, sobbing still. Melting, melting, melting, like snowmen (they’d never make one together again), like crayons in heat (they’d never draw together again), like ice cream (they’d never eat together again) that Kanna could still taste. Disgusting, sickly sweet, burning against the back of her throat.
It’s stinging, sickening pain as Kanna shakes.
She can’t tear her eyes away from her own reflection (or is it hers?).
The sallow eye sockets stream with tears, mouth wide open.
Why’d you kill me Kanna. Filthy disgusting Kanna. It should’ve been you, Kanna.
Kanna, Kanna, Kanna.
She hasn’t noticed that Reko’s hand has left her back until it’s coaxing her forward, pulling her gently into an embrace.
“Kanna, Kanna look at me, okay?”
Kanna tears her eyes away from the reflection.
Reko’s eyes are sharp and defined, but her expression is soft and concerned.
“Kanna, can you just take a breath in for me? Just one nice big breath, good, good that’s a good girl. Now breathe out- you got it! You’re doing incredible, Kanna.”
Kanna watches Reko’s face carefully, focuses on matching her breath. She doesn’t look away, tracing her eyes over each smudge of makeup, each hair in her eyelashes, the crisscrossing pattern of her braid.
And if Kanna focuses hard enough, she can almost convince herself that she can’t see Kugie’s crying face reflected in Reko’s eyes.
--
There’s a dull hum in the monitor room, but the sound is starting to get to Kanna. It stings, this buzzing sound that won’t leave. It’s dozens of tiny sparks in her brain.
She keeps staring at the screens unblinkingly. To any observers she appears frozen in place, but her heart is pounding hard and fast.
It’s not here.
Even with no picture on the back of any monitor, Kanna keeps staring at one monitor in particular, hoping that somehow a mistake was made. That somehow, the screen will flicker to life, and her sister will smile back at her, scold her for being so silly.
She stares, unblinking.
She stares.
It stings, but she’s too terrified of missing something in the split second she blinks.
Nothing changes.
It won’t stop being Kanna, staring back at Kanna. Her own eyes, growing shiny the longer she stares into them. If she looks hard enough, within the reflection on the screen, she can see the reflection of the screen in her own eyes, and so on and so forth down a never ending hole. The sort of hole Kanna feels herself on the edge of ever since she got tangled into this mess.
Why? Why not her sister? How come Kanna couldn’t see her again? Now that the possibility had been presented to her, ripping it away was unimaginably cruel.
It’s an ugly and selfish guilt that pricks her stomach. A ball of thorns, woven around and around in ringlets and coils. What made Professor Mishima so much better than her sister? How come Nao got this splinter of relief, while Kanna fell further, further, into a world she knew she’d be alone in?
She doesn’t tear her gaze away from the monitors until they flicker to life, blaring reds and glaring yellows, flashes that light up the dark room.
Kanna’s eyes burn.
Taunting, laughing dolls address them with amused expressions. Ranger looks down at Kanna like she is the doll instead, a plaything, something to break if bored.
His skirt (though it’s not his skirt, she can’t call it his when it's what little remains of her sister) sways back and forth as he paces around them in circles, eyes swirling. It’s nauseating. She wants to deny it, but she knows. Can’t deny the familiarity of the tiny tear at hem’s edge, the loose thread that gets longer the more it's pulled at.
Ranger’s laugh slashes away at Kanna’s heart, and with her vocal cords cut she remains silent.
--
The cage is transparent, but Kanna can still see hints of her reflection in the glass. The tips of her fingers, pale and clammy, clutch at the edge of a jacket barely visible in the darkness. Her scarf, creased and crumpled, digs into her neck as she strains herself, trying to get a better picture of what’s happening. As all the color continues to drain from her face, her own fearful expression becomes more and more defined. All except the eyes, empty holes into the view beyond. The tiny figures of those strangers, those friends, those people playing unwillingly with each others’ lives. Sara, Reko, Nao, suspended high on a platform, their panic playing out in Kanna’s empty eye sockets.
It’s not the Reko that held her, the one on that platform up there. It’s not the Reko who comforted her, who told her things would be alright when they first entered the game. But it still looks like Reko. It still talks like Reko.
Dolls are, Kanna thinks, confusing. Non-human.
A manifestation of memory, maybe? But then, these weren’t created of their own will, were they? Unnatural beings…
An idle memory floats to Kanna, an inopportune time for it, as always.
She’s still holding onto her sister’s hand, scuffing her feet as she tries to keep up with her pace walking home. Her shoes scrape the curb, brushing against the tiny wildflowers that grow over the edges of the pavement.
Kugie is complaining again. About schoolwork this time.
Kanna listens intently to her sister’s words. Everything her sister says is interesting, and this is no different.
It’s something about a psychology class she’s taking, or philosophy?
Some theoretical that she has to do a presentation on, and Kugie couldn’t care less.
“How about you explain it to me, then?” Kanna had asked, and Kugie’s expression had softened just a bit, her grip squeezing Kanna’s hand for a split second.
“Basically, it’s this dumb idea some really old guy came up with a really long time ago, or something. This guy claimed that every person’s “being” or sense of self or whatever it was, was like… made entirely out of their memories? I think…”
Kanna nodded, that made sense.
“But then it gets complicated because then like… if you lose your memories, are you not the same person? What if you misremember things, or lose your memories and get them back? See, it’s silly.”
“It sounds… scary.” Kanna decided on.
“Then that leads to this other idea,” Kugie continued, “that moment to moment, each version of you is a different person from the second before.”
“Then, Kanna would be talking to a new sister now, wouldn’t she?”
Kugie smiled, nodding.
“Yeah, exactly. Hello, newest Kanna.”
Their footsteps filled the silence for a moment.
“And… What happened to the other Kanna?”
Kugie hesitated.
“I guess… she died.”
Now, Kugie’s words echo in Kanna’s mind, a loop that won’t end. She tries and tries, but her sister’s voice is ever present, never ending.
It’s terrifying. The thoughts that keep swirling, the idea that Kanna let go of. Regardless of her wishes, The Reko That Never Sang a Requiem was created of Reko’s memories. If she has Reko’s memories, is the Reflection That Isn’t Reko as real as the first Reko?
Maybe it’s the atmosphere, the distance, the fear, but Kanna’s stomach squirms when she looks at The Reko That Doesn’t Breathe. It’s Not Kanna’s Reko. There’s nothing about The Reko That Is Pleading For Its Life that’s wrong , per se, no single trait Kanna can point to and say, “there! That’s not the Real Reko!” Then again, maybe it would be better to say there was nothing more wrong with this than to be expected. Because everything about this is wrong, nothing about this is right, Kanna is scared and tired and she wants to go home with her sister and sleep.
When Kanna squints, she can see it. Not physically, not in a way she can describe, but she can feel the difference. That’s not Kanna’s Reko.
The scary part, Kanna knows, though she tries not to think about it, is the lingering feeling that it could’ve been.
Kanna can picture it even, this Reko, though slightly more brash, being Her Reko. This Memory of a Reko. A living ghost for a woman who hadn’t died. Not yet anyway, but from the way Ranger was laughing, Kanna couldn’t be sure how long that would be.
This Reko, The Reko That’s Not Quite Right, is nothing like Ranger, or Safalin, or Miley. Nothing like the Reception Doll.
She’s Reko, but she’s not.
If this Reko, the Reko that’s crying, make-up staining artificial cheeks, had been the one Kanna had met before, would they still feel the same way?
She doesn’t know. It doesn’t matter.
Reko tumbles back with Sara’s shove, and Kanna squeezes her eyes shut.
--
Kanna’s fingers tremble as she holds the phone she’s finally retrieved in her hands. Clumsy Kanna, stupid Kanna, how could she have lost it.
Kanna shakes her head, not that it quiets the voices.
Taking a deep breath, she begins to type her apology.
It’s her turn now. She knows it’s her turn now. She’s made this choice, she’s earned this fate, she’s prepared for what it means. She thinks. She hopes.
The tips of Kanna’s nails clack against the phone screen as she types out her message. They didn’t used to. While Kanna was trapped here, they must have grown. The thought unsettles her more than she was expecting it to. Letter by letter, slowly and carefully, she types. She’s not quite hesitant, not quite unrestrained.
Kanna will be the big sister. She’ll protect her big sister, her Sara, that’s what matters. She can make up for her mistakes, she can atone for her sins. Kanna can do it. Even if her fingers tremble.
The screen is dark, though Kanna can still make out each letter she types. Her own face reflects back at her, tinted red by the phone’s screen.
She doesn’t look like herself, really. Or perhaps, she doesn’t look like Kanna? Does Kanna not look like her? The longer she stares at the screen, the more she wonders if Kugie would recognize her. Does she even recognize herself? Though, perhaps recognition is not the top concern. Kanna wonders, more idly than she should, if the Kanna from last year would resent the Kanna who stares back at her now. She wonders if she ought to care either way.
This can be her apology. To her sisters, the both of them, to herself.
When the message is complete, Kanna’s fingers slowly slide off the phone's screen. They’re sweaty, she’s shaking harder than she realized.
But she can’t stop yet. She’s got to atone.
And she will.
--
Sara’s sobbing when she votes, and Kanna watches her shake. Kanna smiles, softly. She had done it, hadn’t she? Finally, she’d done something right. Just like her big sister, what a good girl, Kanna. Wasn’t that just how things went for a Kizuchi sister? To die to protect her sister? It hurts Sara now, Kanna can see, but she’ll move past it, Sara’s excellent at moving forward. Much better than Kanna in every way. And with Sou, the group will be even stronger. Much stronger than they would’ve been with silly little Kanna.
Yes, this is much better for everyone.
So Kanna doesn’t see herself when she looks at Sara’s sobbing face. Not in the slightest.
--
The moment Kanna feels the stabbing, pricking pain, she closes her eyes. She can feel the seeds spreading, flowing through her veins. It’s an awful, horrible feeling, and she screams out despite herself. She wants to slash her skin open with her own hands, rip herself to pieces. At least that would be less painful. She’d prefer the running, dripping agony, than the buzzing, stinging growth that swirls inside her.
Her eyes stay firmly shut though she wails, mouth wide open.
There’s a saying about memories playing back as someone verges on death, Kanna can’t be certain if it's true or not. But she sees it, playing on the back of her eyelids. The Kanna of yesterday. The Kanna that will never exist. The current, tangled, Kanna, wilting and blooming in unison. They’re smiling, all of them. It’s comforting.
At the very least, it’s Kanna. Her selfish scrap of comfort is that it’s her name she can hear them yelling. I don’t blame you, she wants to say, thank you, she wants to cry, but the vines have replaced her vocal cords.
Kanna’s not sure if it's a mercy or a cruelty that her brain appears to be untouched by the flowers. Her mind whispers out its last message, it repeats and repeats in her brain, the same words rewind and reply, echoing over and over. A reflection, a shadow, a regret. Kanna’s final lament.
Sister…
Are you... watching?
Are you... proud?
...Kanna
Is just like you... now.
...Kanna did it.
The screaming stops.
I... protected someone with my own death.
...Kanna ...died knowing her sibling would be safe.
Just
Like
You.
...Right?
Two girls walk home, holding ice cream in either hand.
Sister?
Kanna made sure sister’s gift wasn’t wasted. But Kanna’s a big sister too now. Kanna’s learned to share. So if it’s me… then it’s fine.
It hurts, sister.
A flower blooms.
I’m coming to see you again, sister.
…
I hope Kanna hasn’t left you waiting too long.

um. hello...if i may ask could i please have yuri manga recs.....
sure!!!!
my most comfort one is actually a food manga too, suito-to! it's really nice <33 it's about momose, a college girl who pretends to like sweet foods but actually prefers rich fatty ones, and yuzu, a younger student who knows a lot about the local restaurants and they go out to eat together <33 it's set in fukuoka and all the places they go to are real too! + their relationship progresses really nicely, and indeed momose's preferences work rly well as a metaphor for homosexuality too. small warning, there is a bit of weight talk but it doesn't get very far
another one i really enjoyed is still not normal today, which follows the relationship between two girls from highschool to adulthood, and just shows a really nice queerplatonic relationship. i really enjoyed it, it was very sweet
for a sillier one, there's also comprehensive tovarisch which is my fav academic rivals one. about kanna, who's always at the top of her class, but gets beaten by yuu, who doesn't actually care about grades at all. it's really funny!!! kanna is such a failgirl and their friend group (and just the entire supporting cast) is So great i had a lot of fun with everyone
last but very much not least the two sides of seiyuu radio is a Huge fav of all time, and it's getting an anime next year! about two high school girls who are idol voice actresses, a gloomy girl and a gyaru that quite hate each other and who are put in a radio program together. it's. so good. treats a lot of problems in the voice acting industry + this intersection where voice actors must also know how to sing, dance and entertain like idols do. it's so good and really fun, huge huge fav. if suito-to is the comfort one then this is my fav in general i think
#its been a while since i last reread seiyuuraji i should do it soon again#do tell me abt it if you read one of these !!!#mayoiayasep#preguntas

Do you have any more yuri recs?
sure, here's a few
love thy neighbor: about 24 year old uni student pah doyeon and her 40 year old housewife neighbor jin joo. jin joo's husband left her alone as he works to pay off his debts, and it has Not been a fun few months for her, as the loan sharks after him have been terrorizing her daily. luckily, pah doyeon is there to lend a hand and shelter!
probably my biggest recommendation as of right now, so long as you don't mind the very much not healthy nature of the whole situation. this baby's got everything in it: blasphemy, cheating, milf-hunting, obsession, self-discovery through lust, and so on. pah doyeon is great. there's a lot wrong with her. she said this shit unprompted in the latest chapter
a love yet to bloom: a sweet story about takamine, who has yet to find anything in life she enjoys, and sakura, a book-loving girl she happens to meet on the train after school. it's very cute and has a nice, chill atmosphere. i always look forward to the next update
otome no teikoku: ok so. heres the thing. if you decide to pick this up the first, idk, dozen chapters will be Bad. there's a lot of male-gazey uncomfortable stuff at the beginning, and while it doesnt take too long for it to stop feeling so offputting and start being surprisingly wholesome and earnest instead, it never stops being horny, so read it if youre in the mood for that.
as for what it's actually about... well there's this all girls school, right? and it has girls in it. and they are all gay and dating each other. its basically just a collection of short chapters about different couples within this school, and it has some of my favorite dynamics and moments in yuri. i reread it very often (and there's almost 300 chapters of this thing out, so that's a feat) and it never stops being enjoyable. stan nononon/yumimi
a monster wants to eat me: about hinako, who lost her whole family to the sea in a tragic accident and now yearns to join them in the afterlife, and shiori, a mermaid claiming she's here to eat her. the problem is, hinako being actively suicidal and depressed means her flesh won't exactly be very tasty, and shiori is a bit of a gourmet, meaning her goal is to first help her recover and regain her joie de vivre, and only then will she eat her. i highly recommend this
out of the blue!: transfer honor student x delinquent yuri. it's very short so i dont wanna yap about it too much, but it's a big big personal fave. it's only 4 chapters so check it out
sougou tovarisch: honestly anything by arata iri never fails to get at least one laugh out of me, but this one especially. if you know a kiss and a white lily by canno (and if you don't, go check it out), the premise to this one is a bit similar to the dynamic between ayaka and yurine, with hardworking MC obsessed with being number one and chill love interest who beats her without even meaning to.
the focus here is less on romance and more on comedy, and i love it. kanna is amazing. she wins a chess match by punching her opponent so hard she passes out. its only 13 chapters + assorted extras, very fun easy read
now some stuff that doesnt really have yuri as focus but ive really enjoyed regardless and want to shout out and this is my blog so whatever
liar satsuki can see death: satsuki can see dead people. specifically, she can see the future corpses of people up to 24 hours before they actually die. she always zealously warns the future victims of the imminent danger, and she has been branded a weirdo and a liar for it as no one has ever actually died before. in truth, she is actually literally incapable of lying, and the only reason everyone survived so far is that she will go to frankly insane lengths to save them. she's a great protagonist and her autistic swag has captivated me and many others
mieruko-chan: miko can see... Things. that no one else can. but she has to pretend she cant, especially to the Things themselves. she doesnt know exactly what will happen if they realize she can see them, but she's certainly not about to find out.
this started as a twitter short that quickly gained popularity, so the premise of many early chapters is basically "miko sees something terrifying and has to ignore it, hilarity ensues", but the initially one-off characters introduced over time are eventually explored and given quite a lot of spotlight and im having a lot of fun with it. stan michiru
there's always more but here's what ive got so far- wait. read shuukura. ive talked about it before it's in my pinned please read shuukura i love those weirdos to an insane degree
#Anonymous#yuri recs#kinda wanna post some otome no teikoku pages later#its really good guys i swear

Law Rambling-“Trouble”
I ramble about my OC, Kanna, and Law’s emotions through the lyrics of “Trouble” by Coldplay!!
I adore thinking about Law falling in love with Kanna. How this very calculated and stern man’s whole world comes crashing down one night after she simply calls out to him.
Oh no, I see
A spider web is tangled up with me
All his plans to ignore her and run away just unravel. He starts overthinking everything, acting out of character somewhat. He hates this feeling, too. They’ve been building up for him, and how, it’s like an explosion of colors. She painted his once monochrome world with warm and affectionate colors.
He can’t help it. He yearns for her.
He feels like a mess, even if he’s not outwardly showing it.
And I lost my head
And thought of all the stupid things I'd said
He’s always been someone who wants to keep his emotions out of his work. It came naturally to him at some point, even, I’m sure. He doesn’t want them to get mixed up with his ambitions. “True freedom” one might call it.
Yet, with Kanna, he feels stuck.
“You’re a strange girl, Kanna-ya.”
“Silly-ya.”
Her playfulness and sunshine reminds him of Lami. He feels happier around her. She gives him sweet and tender comfort without feeling the need to unveil all his thoughts and feelings. They understand eachother in some way. They’re equals.
But, would she accept him?
“I wanted the world to burn. So why, why me? Why can’t you just go away? You’re wasting your time,” is all he can think of, sometimes.
He continues to think over and over again about how they met and if Kanna would accept him for all that he is. He’s insecure. “Why me? She deserves someone more loving than me.”
Oh no, what's this?
A spider web and I'm caught in the middle
So I turned to run
The thought of all the stupid things I've done
When he finally starts to act on his feelings, he finds himself becoming protective of her. He hates the idea of her going on missions. He hates the idea of her going off on her own. He knows she’s capable and is a unique fighter, but something’s eating him up inside.
Something deep inside of his heart keeps him unable to bear the idea of losing her.
He doesn’t realize how much love his heart is bleeding out for her when she hugs him on his birthday.
Her words are like sweet milk and honey to him, her gaze is soft and light and her presence is warm and soothing.
He can’t lose these feelings. He doesn’t want to miss them, and he hates how messy he is when it comes to showing them. His heart feels troubled.
Singing out, I never meant to cause you trouble
And I, I never meant to do you wrong
And I, well, if I ever caused you trouble
Oh, no, I never meant to do you harm
When he finally kisses her for the first couple of times, it’s passionate. He doesn’t hold himself back. He longed for her and, now, he can’t get enough of her. He can’t let her go, he doesn’t want to.
He knows that it’ll take time for him to work on himself before he can more easily show Kanna how much he loves her.
But, until then, he just wants to be gentle to her and lose himself in the moment with her.
They spun a web for me
They spun a web for me
They spun a web for me

Aazhiyan- VanMozhi OS
Vanathi knew she had changed since that fateful day at Thirunallam.
Her talkative side had been suppressed into daydreams, where she dreamt of the Yaanai Paagan she had met, except he was also Ponniyin Selvar now. She remembered well the day her friends had shown her him, and now, she just felt foolish.
How had she called the Prince born to rule the three worlds as a simple Yaanai Paagan?
Was it to the Hari in him that she had wished to be Lakshmi to?
The Satyabhama to His Krishna?
To the Parameshvara in him, Uma?
The Indrani to his Devendra?
What had she been thinking? He was meant to be the King of the world, she was but an orphan Princess from a small vassal of the vast Chozha Kingdom. She was a woman whose Periappa wishes for her to ascend a throne she was nowhere near made for.
‘Jagadishvara, what have you done? Why did you choose him for me? Why would he look at me, when there are women from fifty six rajyams who want him? Better, more accomplished, much more beautiful, everything better than me…. To think he would as much as look at me is sacrilege. But I could and would never love another. My heart fell for the Yaanai Paagan I met, who just turned out to be Ponniyin Selvar, the one Kundavai Akka had not stopped talking about with me especially, though she was pretty close lipped around the others. Was it because Akka wanted them to marry? But why would the Prince want to marry her anyway? He had a variety of girls to choose from.’
Vanathi closed her eyes, allowing herself to mull over her thoughts, when the flash of another conversation entered the forefront of her mind.
“Arulmozhi insists on marrying a girl from Tamizhagam,” Kundavai said, her face like the full bloom of the Lotus when she spoke of her younger brother, her eyes wide and sparkling, his mention more than enough to delight her.
‘A man such as him,’ Vanathi had thought even back then, which she reiterated even now. ‘Could she marry him? Would she be lucky enough to?’
“Parameshvara,” she prayed softly. “May I have the strength to bear his pain, and may my happiness be his.”
She sighed. Would leaving her chambers and going somewhere help?
Give her a small break from dawdling and daydreaming him, his ethereal features, his sweet, warm smile?
But would she ever get it?
She slipped out of her chambers, her anklets chiming as she took shortcuts to the Arisilaaru, reaching the spot she usually sat at, slipping her feet into the water for a moment to feel the gentle coolness of waves’ embrace.
She cast her eyes at the Sky, suddenly seeing the gentle eyes and warm smile of Ponniyin Selvan, and sighed. Tilting her head back, she started singing, allowing herself to be wrapped in the Pasuram:
“ āzhi mazhai kannā onnu nī kai karavēl |
azhiyuḷ pukku muhandu koḍārtēṛi |” she sang softly, her eyes roving around the sky and the Arisilaaru, watching when the Sun’s rays flirted with the gently dancing waves. Would he not show himself on his elephant, shining like the very Sun of the Chozha Kula, watching his sea of people with gentle compassion? “uzhi mudalvan uruvampōl mey kaṛuttu |”
Was he not blessed by the Divine, at least? To radiate that kind of energy, majesty, to have the discus and conch lining his palms? Had Vanathi finally found her Kanna? “pāzhiyan tōḷ uḍaip paṛpanābhan kaiyil”
Vanathi almost stopped singing, startling when she saw his reflection in the Arisilaaru. Was he here? Had he suddenly come behind her?
But how had she not sensed him?
She turned around quickly, singing, “āzhipōl minni |”
He was not there. Then was she hallucinating?
“valamburi pōl ninnu adirndu |”
She was seeing him everywhere in the Arisilaaru, in every little droplet. What was going on?
Had her love manifested so fast? To this extent?
How had her love gotten to this?
She had one interaction with him! Was this even possible?
And yet, did not the stories she grew up with from the Divine scriptures speak of such a love?
But how could she have been blessed with such?
‘Ishvara, Narayana, how blessed you have made me,’ she thought, as she continued singing. “tāzhāde śārṅgam udaitta śara mazhaipōl | vāzhā ulahinil peydiḍāy | nāṅgaḷum mārgazhi nirāḍa mahizhndelōr empāvāy ||” She had looked up at the Sky, only to see him even there. A tear shone in the corner of her doe eyes, understanding that the Universe had shown her the love that reflected in her heart, deeply.
A love that had now taken the form of everything.
Was this now not both ecstasy and sheer agony, joy and pain? How was her yearning to ever be soothed if he were everywhere that she saw?
In her eyes, her heart, and in every speck of Chozha Nadu that her eyes touched.
How was she to survive this? And how could she ever hope for him to want her like she did him?
And yet-
That gentle smile danced in the forefront of her eyes. Was that not all she wanted?
‘Ishvara, Narayana,’ she prayed to both at once, folding her palms and closing her eyes. ‘May he ever smile so!’
She sat, deeply invested in her prayer, not realizing that the one she had realized her love for had been listening to her, mesmerized.
‘Maybe one day, they would talk,’ he thought to himself, quietly leaving, having gotten the calmness he had felt he would find in the arms of the tributary of Ponni, in the gentle, sweet Arisilaaru.
And he had found it in the banks.
His focus was now back, and he could go about the work he had to finish. With a last glance at the maiden who sat like a garland of flowers come together in a beautiful frame, Arulmozhi Varman left, a new spring in his step.

I am sorry for the late response! I thought I responded… apparently I didn’t. Anyways, agree! I love fish. They’re very pretty. As for YTTD, I like the green haired bucket girl! She seems very cute, haha. My favorite little silly game is Swing Monkey. I play it a lot when I’m paying attention to my teacher talk on and on. He talks a lot… it’s okay though.
What happened to the flower anon, by the way? I noticed you don’t have them in your taken anons anymore. You don’t have to answer, of course!
🐠
so totally fine!! i do that too, where i think ive done something but i actually haven't .... >_>.
do you have any favorites of fish or do you just like them all? i personally like them all since i. can't choose just one favorite. it's way too hard to do that when there are so many choices!!!!
oh! kanna! yes!! she's super sweet. she's a middle schooler who's pretty shy and reserved. she tends to be a favorite so good choice^_^!!
swing monkey.... i've never heard of that before ...... i had to go search it up before replying to this. it looks fun! i should try something. i seriously have not been playing any games as much as i used to .... shame on me ..... fake gamer.... teachers tend to talk a lot! better than them hardly talking at all honestly. i prefer making sure i get all of the information down.
oh! it turns out they were somebody who's polyamorous and never considered checking if i was monogamous or not before flirting with me. which, in the server we shared, i had it clearly listed. it pissed me off . . . so yeah! not talking to them anymore!

Dolls from the Opposing Side
Dragging her feet to the monitor room, Kugie Kizuchi sighed. The participants had gone through an exhausting first trial, and now had access to the third floor. Those who had died a few hours prior... she didn't want their ghastly last moments plaguing her mind ever again.
"And now ladies and gentlemen, what horrific trap or game lies in wait beyond this door!" Her own stupid attempt at a joke was just that- an attempt. It didn't improve her mood at all.
The sight on the other side of the door on the other hand...
Two people.
Familiar people.
Greenish hair.
Teal eyes.
Freckles.
Short for their ages.
Kugie Kizuichi's annoying, yet caring, older brother and sweet and adorable little sister.
"SHIN! KANNA!" Wasting not a single second, Kugie threw her arms around them both, ready to ask why they were in the death game, did they miss her, and what on earth they were wearing. If the situation was any different, she would have been in hysterics, laughing at Shin's crown of strawberries and whipped cream, simultaneously cooing at how cute Kanna looked in braids (despite the upside-down ice cream on her head.)
That's when it happened. The action which made Kugie realise that something was horribly wrong. The action that extinguished the spark of hope she had gained. The action that gave her the gut feeling that these people were not who she thought they were.
Shin had pushed her away the moment she initiated the hug. And now he was glaring at her.
Despite Shin and Kugie having the typical sibling rivalry, getting along the least out of the three of them, Shin had never dared to look at her that coldly (not even when Kugie had accidentally deleted one of his school files for an ICT lesson, or when she'd made Kanna run away from home.) If looks could kill, Kugie would be cremated, reincarnated and killed again by now, let alone simply dead.
"Just who do you think you are? What makes you think that my little sister is alright with strangers hugging her whenever they please?" he snarled.
Come to think of it, Kanna hadn't returned the hug either, and she usually loved Kugie's hugs...
In the shock of the moment, Kugie could only respond in the sarcastic manner she usually did to Shin, pretending she couldn't feel the dread crawling up her throat at her "brother's" sudden hostility and pretending that this wasn't yet another of the game's cruel tricks.
"Haha... hell Shin, I know that I'm the one who's not blood related to you two, but you're still my siblings, y'know? Or did you disown me in the short time I was gone? I'll have you know, I stole your crackers exactly one time, you can't hold that over me forever!" She tried. She tried so hard to sound like it was just another normal day at the Kizuchi household, your classic Kugie and Shin argument.
Rather than another vicious comment, Shin fell silent, completely perplexed... because as far as he was aware, wasn't he programmed to have one sister? Honestly, Kugie reckoned that she might've preferred the mean comeback to this concerning silence. Kanna, on the other hand, spoke for the first time since the encounter.
The painfully familiar pair of innocent, doe-like eyes gazed at the older girl, before the 14 year old pulled at her brother's sleeve, her voice no more than a paranoid whisper. "E- erm... big bro? Why... is this girl saying she's our sister? She looks nothing like either of us... is she dangerous?"
Snapped out of his confused state, Shin nodded, standing between the "sisters", not taking his sceptical stare off of Kugie for a second. Following her big brother's example, Kanna decided that she too should be suspicious of this girl, gladly hiding behind him.
"... That's right, Kanna. This girl is trying to trick you, she's just saying she's our sister to manipulate us! But we won't fall for it, will we? Don't worry, I'll protect you, I won't let these lying death game participants hurt a single strand of hair on your head."
There was no way Kugie could stop the tears brimming in her eyes. The three of them should be on the same side, and she should be protecting Kanna, along with Shin- not against him. The other emotion brimming over, other than heartbreak, was jealousy, not unlike the jealousy which she had experienced when their parents had first adopted Shin and Kanna.
Their adoption had taken place when Kugie was ten. Shin was an awkward, timid teen, and his eight year old sister Kanna was somehow even shyer than him. Nevertheless, Kugie was ecstatic to finally have the siblings she had dreamed of for so long. But whatever she did, the green-haired pair didn't leave each other's side. Of course they were nice to her, but Kugie didn't share the sibling bond they had already formed before meeting her. It was a bit ironic really - they were the ones who were adopted, yet Kugie was the one feeling left out.
Kugie finally had someone to play sports with? Turns out Shin has a chronic illness, making him prone to fainting. Kugie made space for Kanna to sit next to her? Kanna still preferred to sit next to Shin. Kugie wanted to draw and do homework with Shin? Shin was already busy picking flowers with Kanna. Kugie planned to bake a cake with them both? Oh, suddenly they're called for a meeting with their social worker.
Her parents told her to be patient.
"They're still learning to cope without their biological parents"
"Kanna is more clingy towards Shin because she's afraid of losing him like their parents."
"Shin has always been protective of Kanna, he's not used to having another sibling to share her with."
"Of course they both love you sweetie! They're just naturally shy and haven't learnt to match your upbeat, lively energy yet."
Despite this, her resentful feelings grew, and she just couldn't hold it back anymore. Unfortunately, she happened to take it out on the worst possible person.
The little green-haired girl had approached her sister one Saturday morning, clutching a pencil case and notebook, and beaming, excited to draw flowers and various other cute things with the older girl. However, fate had chosen to be cruel- Kugie was already in a bad mood, seeing as Shin had gone off to visit his weird friend Hiyori, completely forgetting that he said he'd help Kugie with her maths homework.
"Big sis! Big sis? Can you draw the roses for Kanna to colour in? Kanna tried to do it herself, but roses are too hard! Kanna can only do the easy flowers by herself!"
Whatever suppressed emotions bubbled within Kugie made her scoff and scribble harshly on her maths worksheet as if it had wronged her family for the past 3 generations.
"Oh ummm..." Kanna, although a little naive, could sense the heavy atmosphere. "If big sis is busy, that is okay! Kanna would ask Shin, but he's with his scary friend again..."
Shin.
Shin Shin Shin Shin Shin Shin Shin Shin Shin Shin Shin Shin
Shin Shin Shin Shin Shin Shin Shin Shin Shin Shin Shin Shin Shin Shin Shin Shin Shin Shin Shin Shin Shin Shin Shin Shin Shin Shin Shin Shin Shin Shin Shin Shin Shin Shin Shin Shin
Shin and Kanna. Kanna and Shin. Kugie who?
Was Shin Kizuchi all that the stupid girl knew how to say?
Why was she making such an effort to get along with them anyway? A creepy little girl who only spoke in third person despite being 7 years old for crying out loud, and her deadweight brother who hung out with even creepier people, like that damn Sou Hiyori.
They were horrible thoughts. Wretched, evil, mean thoughts. Directed at the two most gentle, timid souls that Kugie had ever met. But she couldn't drown those thoughts. It would've been just fine if that was where they ended. At thoughts. But she couldn't stop them spilling out either.
Scary how quickly thoughts turn into speech...
"So now you want me as a sister? You've got a perfectly good brother, so why on earth do you need me? You didn't need me before, and you don't need me now!" Kugie's own words frightened her. She knew she wasn't a cruel person, so how was she saying all these spiteful things?
"Ah! No! B-big sis, Kanna has always loved you!"
Stop. Kugie, stop. Anyone would know they'd gone too far at this point. Look at her- she's about to cry any second. Stop it stop it stop it stop it stop it stop it stop it stop it stop it stop it
The unpleasant, horrid words kept falling effortlessly from her mouth.
"Oh yeah, so why is it that you only want anything to do with me now?" Kugie laughed bitterly, failing to shut herself up before shattering the precious child's self confidence. "I know. You may be stupid, but you're not blind. You've noticed it too, right? How your dear brother is spending more and more time with that Hiyori guy, and not you, ever since he started highschool. He's getting bored of you, isn't that right? And now you're turning to me, cause I'm your second choice. I'm just second best. That's ALL I'll ever be to you, and to Shin, no matter how hard I try!!"
Kanna was visibly distressed now, her eyes practically pleading for Kugie to listen to her, "O- oh big sis, you've got it- it all wrong... big bro would never leave me... not- not second best... I love you."
Even so, Kugie continued, ignoring the crying that had started.
"Well you know what Kanna? That's just fine. I don't even care anymore! I don't need a useless brother who just hides in his room all day! I don't need a useless sister who just whines and seeks attention! I'm just FINE."
Kanna didn't return home after her morning flower picking that day.
Shin returned home about 15 minutes after Kugie's outburst, and by then Kanna was no longer in the garden. Being the observant type, the boy could sense something was off as soon as he entered the house. Though he expected it to be quiet as their parents were visiting someone, he was surprised when there was no Kanna jumping into his arms (and nearly knocking him over) and no Kugie trying to make conversation.
Kugie's head perked up as soon as she saw Shin standing in the doorway of the room she and Kanna shared.
Before he could even open his mouth, she spoke immediately.
"I know this will make you mad... but in a fit of jealousy, I may or may not have yelled at our- your little sister and implied that you didn't love her anymore." After all she had said to the poor girl, Kugie felt that she was the last person on the planet who deserved to call herself Kanna's sister.
Before his face morphed into a completely appalled one, she quickly added, "And she may or may not have run away."
Sure, Shin Kizuchi was fifteen years old, perfectly capable of giving someone a good telling off. But was it terrifying to see a normally meek boy looking ready to commit several crimes? Indeed it was, and Kugie wished that an earthquake would hit their home right that second so that the floor could quite literally swallow her.
Although Kugie braced herself for the yelling, it didn't come. Instead, a usually weak hand with currently a surprisingly firm grip grabbed hers and pulled her out of the house. The two eldest Kizuchi children walked around the areas near their house, a cold silence present between them. Scanning for any sign of their little sister.
"The park!" Shin suddenly gasped, recalling that Kanna loved parks, streches of grass that went as far as the eye could see, sprinkled with daisies, occasionally containing a lake with the ducks she enjoyed feeding.
And there she was. A bucket obscuring her face, her green hair peeking out from under it. Making a feeble attempt to rock the swing she sat on to distract herself from her big sister's cruel words.
Kugie reconciled with Kanna immediately. The younger sister, with her heart of gold, forgave the older one immediately. Their older brother on the other hand? Well... he stayed silent after comforting Kanna, telling her that Kugie didn't mean any of what she said, and that he'd never abandon her. That didn't stop Kugie from feeling how furious Shin still was at her. She didn't blame him. After all, she had made a vulnerable eight year old run away from home, a sister that Shin would give up his life for. And Kugie's careless words could have put that innocent child in danger.
On the walk home, Kanna held both Shin and Kugie's hands. Before, she would have only held the former's.
The day had gone by quickly, and before they knew it, it was night and Kanna had fallen asleep, blissfully unaware of the tension between her older siblings. Kugie was surprised that her brother hadn't told their parents what had happened when they came home- he may have been quiet, but Shin gave Kugie snitch vibes, especially in a situation when someone had done wrong to Kanna.
Another surprise came when Shin ran into Kugie in the upstairs corridor. Despite the earlier events, his face showed no malice directed to her. In fact, he himself looked a little guilty.
"Hey, Kugie... I've realised that what you did today was probably because of me. I'm sorry."
What? Somehow managing to overcome the shock, Kugie managed to reply, "You're sorry? It was my fault! Just because I got angry-"
"But it was my fault that you got angry," Shin cut her off. "Am I wrong in saying that you were jealous that me and Kanna are closer siblings than with you? Please Kugie, let me take the blame. As the oldest, I should have made an effort to include you more. It's no excuse, but I'm not the greatest at socialising, so I had no idea how. But now that I know that you've been suffering, I hope it's not too late to salvage things- so... would you be able to give me and Kanna another chance?"
He held out his pinkie finger. "Siblings?"
Kugie couldn't help but mirror Shin's small smile, sealing the promise. "Siblings."
The high school girl sobbed even harder at the memory. She could sense the other participant's concern, but she couldn't hear their words. Because the only thing running through her mind were all the things she would do to have her siblings back...
She'd take back every time she'd criticised Shin for being friends with Sou Hiyori, even if she didn't approve of him.
She'd make more time for Kanna, never refusing to play with her.
She'd take back every time she teased Shin by calling him pathetic or weak.
She'd spend every single penny of her pocket money on ice cream for Kanna.
She'd never start petty fights with Shin, even if they did laugh about it afterwards.
She'd take back every thought of Kanna being annoying or clingy.
Everything, anything. She'd do it all, if only she could see them again. Their real versions. Not these dolls from the opposing side.
Her annoying, yet caring older brother. And her sweet and adorable little sister.

Could you elaborate on the Dragon Maiden thing? :o
the basic premise of dragon maid, as a story about allegorically exploring "alternative" relationships, is very cute, and i like it very much in theory.
you may be wondering why i use the term "alternative" as opposed to, you know, gay relationships. the show's very good when it's about gay adults. kobayashi, tohru, fafnir and takiya are all cute and fun and their relationships are very sweet. it could have also shown some other, even more socially-unusual relationships, like, idk, polyamory. that would've been neat, but no need to do that. it's fine as a show about gay adults.
the problem is that it chose to veer instead into a couple of different sorts of "alternative" relationships.
kanna is fine. she's great, even! i really like her stand-in role as a "child" that tohru and kobayashi have to take care of as "parents", further binding them as a family unit. and, as a child character, she's adorable and very engaging.
the idea of saikawa, a girl who is experiencing adolescent attraction to kanna, is fine in theory. the execution kinda sucks, because she doesn't really come across like a primary-school age kid experiencing feelings she doesn't know how to handle, she comes across more like an upper teenager in a porn doujin that just doesn't know the porn words to describe her feelings, so it's definitely family friendly and that's definitely how it works 👌. would have much preferred, y'know, a version of her that is normal and innocent and immature and confused about her crush? it would've been funny to see her pass kanna the "get out of my school" note.
i don't feel the need to really get into the other, much BIGGER problem with dragonmaid, which is the extremely dubious decision to make an obscenely sexualized mature dragon-woman *obsessively* horny over like, a seven year old boy, that is kind of clearly uncomfortable with what's going on? like, we can all agree that that sucked on its face, no matter your feelings on age gap relationships (which this isn't), even besides the implication that gay relationships are somehow on a similar level to really transparent and unapologetic pedophilia, which i would argue is the actual problem that ruins the show moreso than the relationship merely existing? OK, I got into it a little bit, sorry.
the point of my side post was more that like. identifying kanna specifically ("the episode kanna was introduced") as the problem gives me the impression that the commenter had a very different idea of the problems with dragon maid than i did, which is a troubling observation on a post about how tragic it is that dragonmaid could be so good and somehow still be almost totally ruined by one specific element of the story. you know?
admittedly, the comment's wording wasn't very specific about it, but i'm still very confused that the commenter chose that wording, as opposed to like. any other wording.
#feyranting#also @ the remark that it's bad because of the dragon designs being bad. yes. that's also correct#i was less critical of dragon design at the time that i watched it but now that i think about it. there really was a lot of missed potentia

Heartstings
Epilogue
“You know, I think I could get used to your hair bein’ down.” The Captain moved his hand to gently brush some hair from her eyes. “Your old style made you look kinda old, Doll.”
”Wh- Now you tell me, not when we were still in town??” Chisei puffed out her cheeks at this, pouting. She then twirled some of her hair through her fingers, inspecting the ends. “You know… Maybe a trim would be nice…”
”Let’s get you situated with everything else before getting you a haircut, sound fair?” Shinji smiled, moving to cup her cheek. “You know, you still look awfully cute when you pout…”
The two paused, Chisei still pouting, and the two had started to lean into a kiss before a very loud conversation killed their mood.
”QUIT NAGGING ME, WOMAN I’M FINE!”
”TWO ROLLS OF BANDAGES LATER, YOU’RE FINE! AND YOU WANTED ME TO HEAL YOU AT THE BARRACKS, I CAN’T DO THAT!”
From around the corner came the Captain of Squad 11, someone he looked even more menacing all bandaged up and injured. A massive wall of a man, one that Chisei had only seen maybe twice in her life… Still as intimidating as she remembered. Only now, hot on his heels, was a tiny spitfire of a woman. Shorter than Chisei, though not by much, red and orange hair cut into a long bob, and bright green eyes full of vim and vigor…
”Huh, you know. I forgot why I asked.” Kenpachi Zaraki stretched his neck to pop it, looking down in the direction of the woman. “Now I remember… You’re supposed to be on bedrest.”
”Oh please, I keep telling you that I was fine! I only got winded, there’s at most a bruise!” The woman walked beside him, eyes closed with her nose in the air. “Even after Orihime’s ability, they lost count of how many cuts you actually had- HEY WHAT ARE YOU-!?”
Having had enough of the woman’s bickering, the combat Captain didn’t waste any more time. He picked her up when she wasn’t looking, and carried her as if nothing happened. “Kenpachi!! I can walk just fine, put me down!!”
”Quit yelling, already!” The man groaned, “You know you’re supposed to be resting Kanna, I don’t wanna hear it. Can’t even fight it out with you when we get back…”
Finally the woman, Kanna, quieted, which only earned her a grin from the Captain. “Just because I stopped talking doesn’t make you right, you know…” She complained, fighting back a smile of her own.
”Then that look on your face tells me I won.” He chuckled and kissed her forehead, about to walk past the other couple. “C’mon. I know you’ll be pissed if I don’t let you make dinner.”
”Only cause you’d get delivery otherwise!” Kanna pointed up at him, she happened to catch a glance of the woman with the other captain. “Oh, hold on Ken- Hey! You’re that Quincy girl right?”
”M-Me?” Chisei pointed to herself, thrown off. “Yes! That’s me!”
”Listen, so I heard you were expecting…” The redhead gave her a sweet smile, “We just found out we are too. I’m sure we can arrange a day soon to hang out and talk baby things, you know, bore these guys to death-“ Kanna gestured to the monster of a man still carrying her with a thumb, “-and have someone else who relates. I’ll talk to the Shinigami Women’s Association about inviting you along too!”
”Am I gonna have a bunch of girls in my barracks spewing baby crap?” Kenpachi questioned, he didn’t even budge when the woman started poking his sharp cheek. “Hey, Quincy.”
By now the brunette froze, swallowing nervously. “Uh, yes Captain-?”
”Heard you went up against Aizen on your own. That takes guts.” He chuckled, “Soon as you’re able, let’s set up a fight. I wanna see what everyone’s talking about.”
”Oh! Y-Yes sir, of course!” She replied quickly, and Shinji smirked while patting the woman’s back.
”I’m taking her back to my squad’s barracks now, so if you ever get off bedrest feel free to come by.” He said, “Don’t think we’ve met, Miss…?’’
”Kanna Zaraki.” The woman piped up, “You’re one of the returning Captains I keep hearing about, right?”
”Sounds like you listen to the gossip well. Shinji Hirako. And since you might need a name for this scared little rabbit-“ He gestured, “This is Chisei Kudake.”
”It’s nice to meet you two, I’m sure we’ll see plenty of each other in the future.” Kanna half-joked, then thought. “Well… You may also see more of Yachiru now that you’re here full-time… Where’d she go anyway?”
”How should I know? Maybe she’s bugging the old man.” Kenpachi huffed, “We’re outta here. See you at the Festival, Captain.”
The redhead smiled as she waved to the two, but Kenpachi left quickly with a powerful jump on top of one of the nearby structures. Chisei and Shinji were left at a loss for words for a while, staring in the direction they disappeared into.
”Huh. So his sense of direction really is trash.” Shinji pointed, the complete opposite way he went off running. “Last I remember, his squad’s barracks are that way… Sure that woman is gonna give him hell for it.”
”I can’t believe that woman married him…” Chisei said, then looked to Shinji for a response. “They’re an odd couple…”
The blonde wrapped his arm around her, starting to lead her down the walkway. “Yeah, I didn’t believe it when he told me his wife used to work at a teashop… People can surprise you.” He hummed, turning to her and giving her one of his classic smiles. “Hey, let’s get you back. Momo’s waiting for us, we gotta get ready for the festival.”

I've gone through all the submissions!
Submissions: 105 (a few of which submitted multiple characters)
Re-submissions to add more detail: 2
Characters submitted: 92
Characters nobody submitted who are being included because I think they should be included (mostly because I would have submitted them if someone else was running the bracket): ...um...18
Most-submitted character: Eri, My Hero Academia (4)
Most-submitted character I had not previously heard of: Naru Kotoishi, Barakamon
Franchise with the most entries: Pretty Cure (9)
Individual anime with the most entries: The Case Study of Vanitas (4)
Characters named "Maria": 2
Dragons: 4.5 (not all from Fire Emblem)
Still a lot of stuff to do before I start posting polls, not the least of which being how to efficiently run a double-elimination bracket with 110 members. (I guess I could track down 18 anime kids to make it an even power of 2, but then I'd be running a poll that's ~¼ characters chosen entirely by me, which feels kinda ridiculous.) But I figured I should let people know how things are going.
Full list of characters in the bracket below the cut.
The following list is in alphabetical order. For characters with both personal and family names, I alphabetized by family names. (Except when I mistook which name was which, because the internet cannot decide whether to use Japanese name order or European name order, which isn't a problem except when it makes people like me worry about whether they're naming characters wrong.)
