There is something that I can’t understand and will never understand about fandom “culture”

Why EVERYTHING (or a lot of things) need to be canon or acknowledged by the actors/directors/producers to be accepted by the fandom? In specific ships?

And why when a “ship” (two characters, really) have more screentime than others/other characters aren’t in the picture anymore, people take that as a victory as see their ship as more valid and “actually canon”? And mock/harass others for it?

Also there is this thing people have been doing a lot too: Thats calling everyone that doesn’t like the ship you like names (and also calling them terms that before actually meant something awful but nowadays can be said for simply tagging the incorrect ship in a fucking post)

Canon isn’t always the norm here kid. At least when it relates to ships and scenarios. (Bc if we’re talking about characterization… yes it needs to be canon in a sense or we’re writing/making ocs out of canon characters)

Most of the more popular ships will never be canon and have never been, especially the gay ones. (See Drarry, Narusasu, Frodo/Sam, Johnlock, etc, etc)

So why suddenly we care so much about what NEEDS to be canon or not?

Why people NEED to see their ships be canon so badly?

Sure, I can be seen as a hypocrite because Ive been talking about Stucky a lot in the canon and what happened in EG, but they actually did that themselves. The directors talked about gay characters, the actors talked about Stucky. So actually it isn’t something ludicrous or anything. (I’ve never thought they would actually make the ship canon -bc that would be a big problem for them “how can you make Cap America gay!” And shit- but I thought they would at least make them still be friends or friendly or acknowledge the “bromance” and they just killed the friendship in one scene with the most ooc shit ever). In fact, I’m more annoyed by that. They assassinated Steve’s character and Bucky’s progress.

Why people fight so much about ships and use terms that shouldn’t be brought into stupid shit like this?

Fandoms are supposed to be fun and to have discussions (in good faith) about the canon. What we like and what we don’t like about it.

Besides, a lot of current media are about stuff that’s been remade over and over again. So they have a lot of adaptations and you can pick and choose too, if you want.

And if you don’t like the canon? Easy! Do analysis, criticize it, write fics, do fanart, do creative shit or simply ignore it! No one is forcing you to keep on watching the show or the stuff you now hate/cant stand. That’s what Im doing at least.

Sure, I criticize some people and movies a lot and get actually annoyed by the disrespect towards/assassination of some characters, but at the end of the day I can only shrug and say “it is what it is” and leave it at that. (Meaning not giving them money for the new stuff/not watching nor caring about it and only acknowledging the old things I actually care about and like)

But I don’t insult or disrespect other people in fandom because of it. And also I don’t harass the directors or actors either, ffs.

Idk, Ive always been on the sidelines of the stuff I follow, I’ve never been on the thick of fandoms so maybe thats why I don’t understand.

And I’ve also not seen so many crazy shit (the most crazy stuff Ive seen is people calling others racists for tagging a ship incorrectly and also others inflating the tag of a ship in ao3 so their ship would be “the most popular” with most fics, in that fandom) because I actually curate what I see. I don’t like a ship? I mute, if I can’t stand a person or a ship? I block em. Simple and easy.

I’ve always drawn stuff for myself, read fics and made headcanons. Only recently I’ve been sharing stuff more openly, so maybe it’s that.

HOMESTUCK: BEYOND CANON 6/12 NEWS POST

Hi, James here. Happy American Karkat day. European Karkat day, of course, being on the 6th of December. That’s how birthdays work. Don’t look it up.

Some of you may have noticed I am going to be on a stream with a “Virtual Tuber.” Depending on when exactly this goes up, that might actually be going on right now. If you are coming from over there it is very likely you are just now learning we are still doing Homestuck in 2024. Welcome back. You missed a lot but don’t look any of that up either.

What news for the birthday boy? As you may have seen across various platforms we’re partnering with Makeship, and launched a petition for a Highly Marketable Karkat Vantas Plush! The way this works is, they gauge interest by seeing if we can get 200 people to pledge they’ll buy it before the company commits to producing anything. Their business model allows them to do this at no up-front cost to us which is good because it takes a lot of money to manufacture and ship things. Once we reach our initial goal they then move forward with production and do design revisions, prototyping, etc. They send us a little sample and once we’re all approved and on the same page they do a limited pre-order run. For the first 399 pre-orders we get a 10 percent revenue share, which then changes to 30 percent once it hits 400. You might be thinking “Hey man, that's not very much!” and you’d be right, but they cover all manufacturing and fulfillment and shipping costs. And I don’t own a warehouse. So. This is fine with me.

I did promise to try and be more transparent with what's going on behind the scenes, even when it is boring. The thought process here is that, while less lucrative overall than producing and shipping ourselves this will allow us to try out more merch options. We’ve designed some apparel, and are working out something with Andrew and the usual merch guys. This might take a while, I am still new to this. That Vinyl is still on the back burner as we wait for a few holdouts that sort of make or break things. (There are people who are notoriously hard to get in contact with, so it is taking a while and I overestimated my ability to get this done in a timely manner while in poor health. That's on me.)

The whole idea here is to get you guys some cool stuff, and to pay my team more. Right now the Patreon is doing alright, and we’re trying out some new exclusives over there. Music previews, merch previews, and things like that for paying members. Nothing required to enjoy the comic, and things people will all see eventually. Since I’m trying to pay my team as fairly as possible I split everything we make evenly. Right now, for each team member it comes out to a few hundred bucks each per month which is pretty nice for getting to work on Homestuck, but isn’t exactly a liveable wage. And you see how much work they put into it. I want to give them the world, short of that at the very least a fair wage for all the work they do. Also I don’t know if you’ve noticed but a sandwich costs $19 now for some reason. That in mind if you are a company or private individual and want to pay me to promote your product let's talk. may i ask why lunter shippers often criticize and/or dislike lumity so much ─ as in, the pairing itself, not the fans? it's extremely frustrating because i'm a multishipper (lumity main, but i very much love lunter too) and i don't understand why the shipping war over which one "should be true canon" isn't just one-sided from biphobes/antis/etc., because i was always under the impression that was the case. i've only ever experienced the fandom mainstream and i'm still new to spaces where shipping luz with boys, especially hunter, is acceptable. i'm curious as to why each side has negative shit to say about the other as if their opinion is absolute. hell, i'm still confused by how much people passionately hate huntlow this bad for being boring and unoriginal at worst; if it's problematic for the age gap then surely lunter is too (rhetorical)? anyway, i hope this ask comes across okay and respectful enough. i read your blog's description and pinned post so i hope i can find some answers through you.

There’s many reasons as to why Lunter fans dislike Lumity as a ship. It’s mainly due to a difference in shipping taste or out of spite since a handful of Lumity shippers are toxic (I like Lumity, it’s cute, but I fall under the difference in shipping taste category).

Lumity and Lunter are two completely different ships. One falls under the cutesy, wholesome, loving couple (Lumity) trope and the other falls under the angsty, heartbreak, storyline, and lore-based (Lunter) ship trope.

Many Lunter fans are mainly in the fandom and watch the show for the lore and Wittebane brothers, which is why they ship Lunter (for the Evelyn/Caleb parallels). If Lunter was canon, TOH would be a completely different story and have the Wittebane family as a major key to the story. But with Lumity, the story doesn’t go much into the brothers and just has a cute loving couple.

That’s where most of the criticism comes from. Lumity isn’t a ship that’s there for the lore, it’s just there for sapphic representation and normality. Also, since it was the first Disney sapphic couple involving a protagonist, it would be difficult to add it into lore-based angst since it would probably be passed as “too toxic” or whatever. That’s why they’re so lovey-dovey. Keep in mind this is just a thought. Lumity is not toxic at all, they’re just a normal couple.

With Huntlow, Lunter fans mostly hate it and criticize it for being boring and unoriginal like you said. It was rushed a lot and could have been dropped since it didn’t bring representation or relevance (Willow was never confirmed as Evelyn and they were never in-show confirmed or coded as bi/pan. I headcanon them as such but all they ever had were popular color palettes). It also depends a lot on perspective. It’s toxic to some and not toxic to others. I have a deep hate for it just for the unoriginality (bad boy turns into malewife for the shy girl that turns into a girlboss) and irrelevance but I don’t actually view it as TOXIC toxic since in my viewpoint, it’s just two normal people pushed too hard into a malewife x girlboss ship. I don’t like how Willow does sometimes resemble Belos but she’s far FAR better and healthier than Belos.

To sum this up: Lunter fans often dislike/criticize Lumity and Huntlow for being lovey-dovey, unoriginal, and not relevant to the plot. It all boils down to a difference in shipping interest. None of the ships are actually toxic (it’s mostly just people looking far too deep into them) but some people can view it as such and that’s fine as long as no one gets harassed. We all have different views.

Flavors Of A Ship: Luigi Addition

ONCE AGAIN, I COME BACK TO POST ABOUT BOWUIGI (and other ships, as a treat)!

While I’m not as well versed in the world of Fandoms as ColeyDoesThings, I have been here long enough to have an inkling on how ships can be categorized.

This brings me to ships in the Super Mario fandom- specifically with Luigi!

I’m not sure about you, but the Green Bean seems to be a jack-of-all-trades in shipability thanks to the 7+ characters that I’ve seen him shipped with- and that is through my home feed on here!

And looking at AO3? I am given a fairly good idea of the current ship popularities that I intend to figure out as I stroll through the site.

For instance, Bowser, Daisy, and Peasley are currently the top three ships according to the existing tags- and in that exact order.

In a way, it also makes the most sense that the first two are prolific given the similar potential/established chemistry they have with Luigi! And Peasley? Who has elicited very gushy responses from the Green Bean in the few interactions they had in a single game?

I have little to wonder, really, to see these three as the Addictively Sweet Trio(TM).

On a more interesting note, King Boo runs fourth place in the fic count, and adds a spicy take of who is canonically Luigi’s mortal enemy.

Princess Peach is fifth place, and someone who I don’t usually picture with Luigi if only because I picture a more complex chemistry with Mario and her.

After her is the cavalcade of rare-pairs and cr*ck-pais that include Dimentio, Waluigi, Morty, and Donkey Kong. Depending on personal taste, I can see these ships easily dipping into the bitter, the salty, and the sour takes of what kind of relationship can come about with them just as much as the sweeter possibilities.

Regardless of who is your favorite ship, it stands to show that Luigi himself seems to be very compatible with many Types of characters, and I honestly have no idea how to process that. Like- jeeze- half of them are royalty and I bet someone will add more in due time…

Until I puzzle it out, this post will definitely be on the back burner for a continuation via reblog.

No need to post if you don’t want to, but wanted to say I really like this point. I’ve spent hours combing books and lore to try to get things right because you never know who will point out it’s wrong. For something that’s a hobby, that’s often too much work for casual fans/writers.

And personally, I like having my own takes on the character vs sticking to canon or the comic

Your art has made me THINK. Has made me incorporate new ideas. It's been an absolute joy to watch you develop your Wing Bois AU and the thought behind the process and the JOY you're getting out of it is CONTAGIOUS and I feel like that's part of the fun, part of the point.

More nonessential jabbering below the cut:

LU became more fun when I started to create my own fics rather than get mad about running out of ones to read. I learned fast that I have unusual tastes (specific flavors of angst) and that I wasn't alone, and that reading and collaborating with other authors is hella fun and teaches me a ton.

We all know how hard it is to "get into" this fandom. But that's supposed to be FUN, not a test. It's a million Easter Eggs we get to hunt. And we are SO SPOILED with a glut of content! It's AMAZING! (and with challenges like whump/fluff, or course there will be shorthand for characters and dumbing things down/glossing over and ignoring some dynamics and facts because we've only got a month and we need to write 28-31 fics! I only got halfway through)

I love squishy Hyrule as much as a good feral-enough-to-bite-a-man's-fingers-off Hyrule. Mine will eventually shove pottery shards into an enemies eyes when he's run out of other weapons, and then he'll cry in Legend's arms because I like it when he's both! And you can justify so much! Like what if he becomes squishy because he's gotten comfortable with having so many others who can help him chill for a change, and he discovers when he's relaxed for more than a few hours, for the first time, he is deep down kind of squishy and affectionate! Or that he hates it! It's fun to explore them. Each character version is a new dungeon to examine. Familiar isn't bad, nor is new. I love traumatized, I love not traumatized.

I'm guilty of having preferences, but heck, I've learned to embrace some of the angles I didn't like at first because I learned new details, or an author introduced a justification I could buy into and I loved it. I never would have shipped Rav and Legend, but I'm glad for all those who did so now I can enjoy MORE ships, depending on my mood or the direction of the story. And sometimes we make these boys a bit weaker than they are in their games because they're so stinking powerful, and we need them to question themselves.

Gonna preface this by saying I have nothing against people who like J ships. You do you, dude. Also I’m sorry for yapping. Like genuinely. TLDR at the bottom

That being said, none of the J ships vibe with me, save for Jessa cause they were at least close. Not saying they’re all problematic or anything (‘cept for one, maybe two or three), but I just can’t bring myself to like them in any context.

For example, JUzi. Nothing inherently wrong with it. It’s another DD x WD ship, and J is likely around the same [mental] age as Uzi and the others. What makes my skin crawl when I think of it, however, is when I think about who both characters are. Uzi, the first person to treat N like a damn person in a long time, who’s been bullied and neglected all her life, paired with J, the person who told N to off himself and who drove his self worth down so much she (supposedly) indirectly drove N to self harm cause he thought he deserved to be punished for doing whatever J deemed bad.

Like idk that just rubs me the wrong way. Not in a “this is a problematic ship” kinda way, really just the “they wouldn’t do that” way.

And there’s the obvious “well why not just make an AU?” or “why not write J in a way where she doesn’t have all those attributes?” Well straw man, its cause at that point it’s Not J. It’s another character wearing her robo-skin. At that point just like, make an OC. Steal SD-S from that one merch vid and give her all those attributes of a not-abusive J, idk.

The other ones are just kinda whatever honestly. I know saying that “the issues I have with some of them stem from how J treated N” is kinda stupid but hey, I’m yapping about shipping two characters together, I’m already doing something stupid.

TLDR: Canonical association and personal taste prevents me from liking all but one of the J ships, but I don’t really care about people liking them. Don’t let me stop you from having fun. (Stockholm Fantasy can burn though. Like genuinely)

Marcy and Rigs:Tales of a vampire queen and her trash boat

So what’s set to follow in this post is a random couple of one shot ficlets or whatever comes to mind as well as headcanons when it comes to the wild crack pairing of rigby from regular show and Marcelino from adventure time. The human versions pic is my main visual,course some chars in this setting will either be like they are in canon or human, it depends on the funny and what not XD. And may on occasion involve rigby with both marcy and Eileen because hey the guy deserves some love and even with this pair focus,I’m still a riflemen guy to my core. So yeah in this case the setting is akin to regular show canon; seemingly regular world where insane,random wild shit happens be it eldritch abominations showing up because of too many ties in a game of rock,paper scissors or future washed up rock stars coming back in time to kill you because you somehow stole their fame in the future. It just also happens to include anthropomorphic candies and other weird creatures up and to including our resident demon vampire queen.

So background wise marcy is much the same as canon,used to be a regular kid who just so happened to be the spawn of the satanstic archetype eldritch horror Hudson abedeer who at one point became a vampire of course. She’s got some issues of course especially what with a certain  ex of hers but she’s still got some friends that make life a bit easier for her to handle. Such as an antiques dealer by the name of Simon (don’t ask him about that crown he’s got kept under heavy lock and key or the voices Yiu might hear from it about the secrets of ice and snow,DO NOT ignore the signs Especislly the one that says “In the name of all thst is holy,do not touch this crown!”) and a godfather in skips (he’s been around a long time,and yeah him and a few others in the mystic immortals circle aren’t too fond of Hudson). Skips is one of the few adults she would genuinely admire and respect and the closest thing she has to a moral compass of course,and he’s she regularly rocks out with death and she’s nine too fond of his demonic little infant brat Thomas.

So of course it’d be Somethingmoike an open mic night or talent show at the coffee house one evening mordo and rigs in the crowd. And up steps marcy and her scream queens rocking the house with a couple of tunes and rigby is getting a major case of love at first sight bad,like in wayne’s world when the titular char first lays eyes on Cassandra,who also happened to be a kickass cool bass player. Coincidence? I think not,but of course rigby has the dignity and decency to not devolve into a simp,especially on mordecai’s level,that’s for sure!! it’s pretty much like of course they meet up and talk after the show,and before mordo knows it,the duo is a trio as marcy and rigby get along pretty well and share some similar tastes and interests. and like in canon before anyone notices or realises it,they’re dating!! with eileen too because that delightful quirky nerd is the balance to those 2 slackers!! oh sure rigby would love to rub it in mordecai’s face but eileen is the good conscience in this case...marcy though? she’s merciless. it’s a natural fact that from day 1,she’s ruthless when it comes to snarking and making snide remarks at mordo. the guy’s low hanging fruit just ripe for picking out for mockery.

Now regular show being how and what it is,where something seemingly mundane can spiral out of control into mayhem involving space,time and tussling eith secret blonde cults and a giant coffee bean,one such incident being mordo calls Hudson from the nightosphere because of course thst damn simp would think marcy’s got commitment issues due to unresolved matters involving her dad. Only to realise too late Hudson is a soul sucking demon and his obtuse pushy nature in trying to get marcy to take over as his successor as ruler of the nightospehere. Marcy of course is livid to a point she goes full monster and is about ready to unleash the freakin’ apocalypse. Good thing rigby manages to intervene. Never underestimate a determined hamboning slacker raccoon who managed to graduate and get his highschool diploma boys and girls. And that’s a mark on marcy’s blacklist for mordo,among many he’s sure to rack up. Marcy:hey,okay punchies for it? mordo:tch,sure fine,can’t be any worse than rigby Marcy:*bulks uo hr arm muscles to Amazon preportions,windsup* Mordo:wait a-!!!*too late,pow!! Sent flying so hard he leaves a dent impression on the wall* rigby:ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh!!

Rigby:oooh Uhm…listen I’m kind of a grower….*ziiiiiiiiiip,thud!!* marcy:……get on the bed And of course rigby woild be lying if he said he didn’t find marcy’s monster forms ultra hot..and yes they’d be very active and wild in the bedroom. Mordo still wonders why his bedsheets keep seeming all soaked up. He will never know,ever!! What’s your OTP for your Muse(s)?

Most of my muses are OCs so whatever ship is there, it is my OTP. However, I do have a select few exceptions like Megohime, as she will be defaulted to ship with her historical spouse, Date Masamune. As for my canon muses, I am only on board with the idea of Oichi being shipped with Azai Nagamasa (her canon husband both in this interpretation and in the history), while others are still a fair game as long as chemistry and prior discussion are involved. I do like Kenshin and Kasuga together, but honestly I don't see Kenshin returning her (a good emphasis on romantic and sexual) affection because I see him/them as celibate, so...

What are you willing to RP when it comes to shipping?

I'm so heavily inspired by shoujo/josei manga as well as Korean dramas when it comes to shippy ideas/dynamics so it might not be too off from tropes that are present in those medias. However, I do have several turnoffs (apart from the usual squick/no-nos like incest, pedophilia, etc) like the typical cliche trope of a (usually male) bully crushing on their (usually female) victim (which was popularized by H.ana Y.ori D.ango back in the days haha), extreme Stockholm syndrome, persistent third wheelers (god I actually really hate this trope fjfhdkdj) questionable age gaps and with minor muses. Toxic, obsessive or unhinged are fine, but we gotta discuss it further to make it actually work as it would have to depend on which muse that are going to be involved in it and not cross boundaries that we might have for comfort.

How large does the age gap have to be to make it uncomfortable?

Between mortal characters, anything between minors and adults are a big no, but at the very maximum... maybe 20-30 years? Idk. Immortals are completely different story, of course, and as long as they are both at the same level of mental maturity, it's a fair game.

Are you selective when shipping?

To be fair, very much so. I love ships but they don't exactly define my writing or is the main purpose of why I write on the first place as it has been more of a lore and personal character development focused purpose (though ships may facilitate the latter). Some characters are rather reserved about who they want to pursue a romance with (e.g: Killian). Even some characters are not available for shipping yet as I write them to be pretty much aroace, like Jinluo. Mun's personal taste also factors in as well occasionally... and just because some of my muses are straightforward or flirty, it does not necessarily mean a ship is going to happen. Mutual interests between both parties must be present and a good, healthy amount of communication as well.

How far do steamy moments have to go before they’re considered NSFW?

It honestly really depends on the muse and the ship itself...? Some of my muses are inexperienced or simply asexual, some of them are simply repressed, some of them are experienced yet still reserved about sexual encounters, and some are straight out shameless. Most of the time I keep NSFW content to a minimum because not all muses would want to cooperate with that, but certain muses have no problem to be on board with it (namely Tsuyuko) and wouldn't even mind to do one night stands. I also don’t randomly write NSFW — you must at least discuss it with me in private to go fully on board with it.

Who are other muses you ship your muse with?

Does one have to ask to ship with you?

Yes, but I honestly don't bite. I would do the same favor to others and see where it goes there. If it works, it works. If it doesn't, it doesn't. Communicating is the key.

How often do you like to ship?

Again, I really enjoy shipping when it's done right and I love writing up unique possible relationship dynamics that happen between the involved characters (like old married couple Masamune/Megohime or any master/servant or lord/warrior dynamics), but also: I'm selective and shipping itself is not the main focus of my writing, though it may sometimes facilitate the said focus. If you want to ship or interested in it, then you have to communicate it directly with me.

Are you multiship?

Most of the time yes, but even then it's kept to a manageable amount. Some characters are singleship due to personal plot limitations though, and it's unnegotiable.

Are you ship obsessed or ship more-or-less?

I'm generally the latter but if I have a specific ship/dynamic I really like, you can tell when I'm obsessed as I actively throw you my ideas/memes/etc.

I might be a little reserved myself when it comes to shipping but honestly the best way to ship with me is to rp with me to test the waters and communicate to me about it, then we'll see where it's going from there. As we know, first meetings are usually not the thing I'm going for as well since it's often cliche - so you are more than welcome to offer me ideas for a possible existing dynamics!

Tl;dr shipping is not my main writing focus and it usually takes time for me to fully go on board with the idea but with the right amount of chemistry and investment, we can try to make it work together. Communication is the key. If there is a mutual interest, let’s work on it together.

Ruggie is pretty comfortable with his own body and doesn’t mind being seen naked. It’s very likely that he wouldn’t be shy in a sexual situation, at least not because of this.

He has some experience in sex and knows what he likes and what he doesn’t like quite well.

Ruggie masturbates quite often, sometimes a couple of times per day. He is also a pillow humper. In general he prefers to move his body and not his hand, but it mostly depends on his mood.

Ruggie is someone who always separates sex and feelings, and he is yet to have sex with someone he has an actual crush on and not just sexual desire. But he doesn’t feel too bad about it: he just hasn’t met anyone who would make him feel that way yet.

Ruggie is obviously aware that sex could be a powerful tool to gain money and connections, and he’s done this type of stuff before. Am I willing to publicly admit to the self-insert daydreaming I did as a teen, long before my days in internet fandom? Okay I guess I kind of just did but I refuse to elaborate. I have long since moved on and I ship him with an in-universe partner at this point.

Which ship would you consider your first one? You ask a lot of my poor aging memory. I'm gonna say...before internet-accessible fandom? I was very keen on Rogue and Gambit in high school, when the 90s XMen animated series was one of my primary interests. After acquiring internet access and discovering communal fandom? 2x5, Gundam Wing. Duo and Wufei.

Did you used to have a NOTP or have one currently? There is one ship that I will class as a NOTP and it only became that after it went unexpectedly canon. I'm still willing to incorporate their canon kid into things and I have no interest in demonizing her, but I absolutely Do Not Want to see/read/hear about them having a genuine romantic attachment because the canonization pissed me off so bad. Currently, do you have any OTPs? Depends on your definition of OTP I suppose. To me it means 'favorite couple' more than 'can't stomach seeing them with anyone else'. Currently that's Dreamling. Currently I'm not really interested in reading about either of them with anyone else but historically as I spend longer in a fandom my tastes grow more willing to branch out, so who knows what the future holds. And I still have OTPs from each fandom I've been in (some of which predate the common use of the term 'OTP') even if they're no longer my reading/writing focus.

Is there any couple that, to this day, you are extremely mad about not getting into? Not...really? Not mad about? This is such a weird question, if I was truly taken with a ship I would have explored it? Are we asking if I'm mad about getting into a ship after the fandom has passed its peak of popularity maybe? IDK? I mean, there are occasionally characters from properties that are in formats that I don't tend to invest my time in (Podcasts, video games, long-ass long-running animes that I did not get in on the ground floor with) that catch my interest, and then I have next to no canon framework for exploring my interest, but it's not a thing I'd ever get mad about. If I really want to know more about Gale and his potential matches I'll find somewhere to read BG3 lore, y'know?

Is there any ship you used to dislike but now you think they’re kind of interesting? Mmmmmno. But I do have more than one that's gone the other way.

Do you have any ship that, in the past, would have been considered normal but now you would be cancelled over? Mmmyep. I remain unapologetic about it; that is my ship, tirelessly built with my own two hands and almost nothing predating me to influence interpretation, lovingly crafted exactly as I see it and convincingly enough to interest a handful of other folks. Thankfully none of the people leaving occasional kudos on those fics these days are raising a stink about the 'problematic' elements.

What is your favourite crack ship? Lord of the Lost's Judas album gave me serious serious Jesus/Judas vibes, but that's not really crack so much as quote-unquote blasphemy. I am going to steal Seiya's answer of Tony the Tiger x The Grinch, because I am hard-pressed to think of anything else that would qualify.

What is the couple you read the most fanfics about? Currently? Dreamling. I tend to hyper-focus on one fandom at a time and when I'm lucky enough to ship the popular pairing, there is Far Too Much to spend my limited free time on and little reason to invest any of it elsewhere.

What do most of your ships have in common? I think the broadest way to sum up the widest swathe of similarities is that I generally enjoy a dynamic of Reserved x Exuberant, or to pull back a little further still, of Complementary Opposites.

What do you absolutely hate in a ship? Hate very rarely enters into it. Lack of chemistry, I guess? But that is a very subjective criterion. For every 'But why would you ship them?' I can ask, someone will have an answer.

Trying to come up with ships to give you other than Killugon ummmmm Setsu/protag, Raqio/Remnan, Pariging, Tsumuhoma, Azuguy, and/or a Dunmeshi ship of your choice. For the chart :P

I’m going to be honest a lot of these placements are prettyyyyy arbitrary but anyway!!

Killugon: The amount of gay subtext between them is crazy. Maybe the fact I don’t think Gon returns Killua’s feelings yet in what we have currently of canon means they should be shifted a bit to the right. Unfortunately, I am biased. And scenes like “it has to be Killua!” make me hope for the future. I could write an essay about them. Their insanities make me insane. 10/10

Setsu/Protag: They’re probably only so high because of recency bias but you know what? This is about what compels me. Right now. And I am soooo in love with Setsu and their crazy time loop shenanigans. So much of the story is dependent on how much they love each other which makes me think it makes sooo much sense. Shifted it to the right a bit, though, because despite some of the most pivotal moments in the story being based on the player/protagonist loving Setsu, not every player will love them like I do ESPECIALLY SINCE THEY’RE NOT EVEN ONE OF THE DEVS’ FAVOURITES??? Anyway I think that not loving Setsu is tragic, bad taste, a skill issue, etc. /j

Raqio/Remnan: I didn’t even realize this was a ship before I went onto Ao3. Like I guess I can understand why people ship it, but nothing in canon makes it feel romantic to me... Also, I can’t believe that Remnan is canonically only attracted to women... I’m sorry Raqio. I don’t really actively dislike it or anything though this ship just kinda makes me feel nothing, unfortunately. </3

Pariging: THE FUNNIEST EVERRRR unfortunately I’m not SUPER insane about them, though, and being funny can only carry you so far. Plus, they really only have One Scene so I feel like I can’t put them much higher on the “makes sense” section. </3

Tsumuhoma: One of my favourite fuyu ships and it’s all your fault. They’re not higher on the “makes sense” section mostly because they don’t interact nearly as much as I want them to despite being in the same troupe and their best interactions are in a time gated event... </3 That event was SUPER compelling for them to me though. Unfortunately, I’m less into A3! stuff in general now so they are. Where they are right now.

Azuguy: Okay I really like Azuguy and they’re really tender and sweet with each other and they just have those gentle vibes to them and they also get to have a lot of interactions because they are roommates... I feel like a lot of the attachment I had for them has faded with my memory, though... Age Gap: -5

Okay, so you guys all know I LOVE a good age gap, however, the thing is nine times out of ten when this is tagged its because canonically there isn’t one and the author has chosen to create one for whatever reason. And generally those reasons aren’t to my taste. But obviously I’m all here for Max/Michelle, Clara and the Doctor, Delena and a million other options. I’m just not big into fan created age gaps- cause they generally mean the author is enticed by the age gap itself vs. the possibility within the characters dynamic.

Codependency: 0

At the end of the day this is one of my all time favorite tropes (Psychic Twins is my favorite rnm dynamic for a reason, lol). But the tricky thing is I’ll only want to read it for a dynamic that makes sense to me personally, cause at the end of the day I want the characters to feel untouched by the author and transplanted into the fic (with allowances for au’s actively altering them in believable ways! cause I love a good twist on a characters trauma and backstory that has them acting like a changling of their original self)

Enemies to lovers: 10/10

More like “antagonism” to lovers. This is my drug of choice. Like have them spit angry words at each other and shove each other into walls, ave them snarl at the realization they wanna fuck, make those little guys squirm uncomfortably at the very premise of finding that person enticing.

Enemies With Benefits: 5/10

See above. Depends on the rest of the tags and general vibe of the fic, cause adding complicated sex rituals can elevate or ruin the dynamic.

Fake Dating/Relationship: 10/10

I will click through to the fic every. single. time. (Given it’s a pairing I’m at least intrigued by). But if for whatever reason the set up doesn’t appeal I’ll forlornly walk away. But hey! It’s like antagonism to lovers, but less “we’re arguing but now- hey, we’re close…” and more “forced intimacy and now the lines are blurred and I don’t know what’s real anymore” always a banger.

Found Family: No.

Okay, so if this is tagged and it’s not like an addition to “hey, this is a platonic work” it’s a solid-hard-forever-no. Because the author is telling me, and I get to decide what is a family.

Friends To Lovers: 5/10

Really depends on if it fits the ship and of course the other plot pieces.

Friends With Benefits: 10/10

Not gonna lie I really do like a messy/sexy situation that involves the characters spiraling about their emotions and feelings. And this trope does some of the best groundwork for that emotional atmosphere.

Hurt/Comfort: 0/10

Not generally my cup of tea, however, if it’s tied to canon events I’m intrigued, or paired with some other fun tag/idea.

Love Triangle: No.

Generally this exists with vitriol against a character (usually a woman :/ or coc) even when it doesn’t this is the least inspired way to get drama and emotion out of the characters, I no doubt already sat through it in canon, so unless there’s an endgame poly relationship tagged or it’s a pwp and a threesome it’s so far from my thing I’ll scroll right passed.

Mistaken/Hidden Identity: 9/10

I mean you don’t read Clex fic without enjoying that level of drama

Monster Fu… Relationship: 3/10

Depends on other tags/plot/character, cause I do love a good werewolf and/or vampire au (mermaids too!)

Obsession, Possessiveness, etc: -10/10

Just not my thing. Unless it’s designed to be a certain dynamic. Cause yeah, Joniz with this tagged feels right and natural- but not like Lizobel or something.

Opposites (like grumpy×sunshine, etc): 0/10

Another case of it has to already exist within canon and not being forced onto the characters.

This tells me nothing the relationship tags didn’t already (sorry), so my brain will skip right on over it. I mean- I already expect to be reading a poly work if the fic is tagged Max Evans/Liz Ortecho/Kyle Valenti and if I’m not I’m gonna be soooo sad, but oh well.

Depends on length, focus and if it feels right for the characters.

Second Chance: 0/10

Depends on the rest of the tags. But generally I’ve seen it used for something that occurred off screen before the fic starts, which isn’t my thing.

Sex To Feelings: 1000/10

Yep! I mean I can’t fathom them not going hand in hand, imo there really can’t be a good sex scene without layers of emotion. It’s what my Demi-sexual ass is here for, seeing them be all emotionally vulnerable and compromised.

Slowburn: 10/10

hmm. what’s something that doesn’t get covered in ftes… i think she really likes her maternal grandparents and would like to see them more, but she knows spontaneous visits aren’t really something that either her household, or theirs, can really pull off. she’d call more but she feels weird doing that without much reason.

!! i like how i write her! i think… any concerns i have are moreso with like. how my writing of her comes across? but that’s another thing where i just have to step back and remind myself that anyone who judges the way the kids are shown now, when we’re only partway through the story, and no one’s ftes are finished, is silly, and that includes me. it’d be silly of me to judge my writing when i haven’t even been able to show all the parts of the kids characterization!

No I’m not much into the twd verse atm anyways so there’s no one I’d like to play… we will see when the rick series is out next year :) and in HOTD fandom: I created an OC cause I wanted Daemon to have a sister but from the fandom itself no.

8. did you have a muse you tried to play, but didn’t feel connected to?

In the past I took requests for any character someone wanted me to play and that’s not something I’d do again. But from all the muses I play there’s no one I didn’t connect to. Of course my muse for them fluctuates so atm I’m very silent on rick and negan and the twd verse in particular and negan is probably the character I connect to least, but all my muses are very dear to me and I always take a long time until I play them so I can be really sure about them and don’t have to delete them again. For Daemon, Negan and Tommy I also started writing them in secret with the ones who recommended them to me first to see if it works for me and only then I made a promo and spread it so I could be sure I wanna continue writing them.

19. do you have ship bias?

It always depends. At the beginning I thought that I can ship my canon characters only with other canon characters I see chemistry with on the show but that changed a lot during the last years cause of so many amazing writers out here. I connect much more to OCs when they are written well and I sometimes ship canon characters I never shipped on the shows when they are portrayed beautifully. But if my muse has a certain sexuality or preference it depends on the faceclaim and their story too (and I think we all have some faceclaims we just refuse to play with so maybe thats a bias too?!).

20. what’s a ship you don’t want to roleplay at all with this muse? (except Bad Illegal And Gross Stuff, of course)

Hm as I said it often really depends on how the character is portrayed so I don’t say in general no that’s not working. But when we talk about twd fandom I wouldn’t ship Alex with Daryl or Merle for example, but that’s just my own taste that I think they wouldn’t fit with her. So it’s more a “what’s Alex taste” decision and not mine haha
