Two years ago today, Season 3 of CGI MOTU came out! I made a fanmix about it, because I miss my blorbos caught in a horrible cycle of rebirth and recreation that forces them away from the identities they finally shaped for themselves, Tails. I miss them a lot. I'll be back.

Hi, I’m back from watching the first episode of Hazbin Hotel, here are my thoughts on it.

The Good/ Things I Enjoyed:

Vaggie, Alastor, Charlie, Husk, and Nifty all have pretty good voice acting.

The two that stand out to me as my favorites are Husk and Nifty. Husk sounds well husky. It sounds like he smokes or used to smoke and there’s this gritty gruff to it. It really fits his character well. Like if you had to ask me what the voice of a bar tender gambling winged cat demon was? That is it.

Nifty’s voice acting also hits that sweet spot with her character where it sounds small like a balloon or squeaky toy but also small like a needle or a switch blade if that makes sense.

Overall I love Nifty so much. The gag of her freezing up when Vaggie tries to film her was great. Having it happen twice hit that joke sweet spot of letting it set in and be executed without over staying. It also fits her character well since she’s a little bit weird (such a blorbo) and I would like to headcanon that since she was summoned by Alastor, she kinda shares his distaste for video.

Also I am deeply hoping to hear more Spanish be spoken by Vaggie. Both the upset Spanish ranting and her sweetly singing to Charlie in Spanish. Imagine Charlie singing back also in Spanish. Would be neat I think.

The other two things was the Helluva reference on the side of a van and a Travis cameo. That was neat, adding some consistency to the world.

The Bad / Things I Didn’t Like:

Idk if it was just me but at least at the start, the animation looked choppy when Vaggie and Charlie were speaking at first. But for the rest of the episode it was pretty alright. Certainly doesn’t feel like a professional production level but that is what you get when you pay people slave wages Viv. I do hope that the animators can take some pride in their work, especially the more fluent movements during the songs.

Speaking of songs, Happy Day In Hell is alright. Nothing stand out but it’s good.

Adam’s song meanwhile. Ugh. Not fully committing to the rock/punk, still being another generic pop song, and overall adds onto my issues with Adam as a character and the whole “THE ANGELS ASCTHUCALLY BAD YOU GUYS” thing is, ugh.

It boils down to:

1) If Heaven is also as bad as Hell, why even bother with redemption?

2) Is it just the Exterminators who are corrupt? Also several demons were killed while Charlie sang so like what makes the Exterminations so bad if a second death is constantly happening casually?

3) Why do any of the Exterminators follow Adam? Also Adam has been written as a hand holder for the audience so you know who to hate (he got Stella’d).

4) I see how Viv is trying to tackle the issues of the patriarchy and misogyny in this but like, does she think that redeems her from how she’s handled Helluva Boss? (Once more, Stella.)

On the topic of male characters, who is Alastor anymore? He used to be smug and commanding and set up as a manipulative deal maker that doesn’t really care for the well being of others and now he just kinda walks around mocking Vaggie and Charlie? Idk just feels like Alastor is being added on top of the list of characters (which is like everyone but Vaggie) that don’t believe in Charlie to manage redemption.

Do wish for more spooky moments with him though.

Now onto Angel.

Why does his voice sound like a deflated worm out balloon? It caught me so off guard and it’s just nails on a chalkboard for me.

And the sex jokes, two of which stuck out to me as “can you not?”

“This body was made to be exploited” by Angel. I don’t think I have to explain why having your SA character say that line out loud and frame it as a humorous comment is a good look. Classic Viv moment.

“I like being forced” by Nifty. Yes, what a great line to have given to the small, child appearing character. It felt so forced and pushed outside of Nifty’s usual weirdness too.

Also dare I forget how Amazon had this marked as 15+ (I believe) before changing it to 18+. Which good catch there guys cause during Charlie’s song, we get a quick scene of two demons fucking.

Not saying that scene was quite as offensive as it was just boring middle schooler level humor like Alastor’s ad having a toilet joke in it and Blitzø like drawings/notes at the end.

What did manage to give me the ick was how Nifty and Angel kept hitting on Husk. Nifty not as much, but Angel was just down right creepy. Husk himself states that he is at the hotel against his will (whole new can of worms there) and now Angel is hitting on him and making constant unwanted advances?

But with that we’re meant to clap and ship away but then we jump cut to Adam calling Charlie “babe” over and over and we’re meant to boo? Which direction are we going with this Viv?

One last thing, I knew that Brandon as Katie would sound horrible but I got jumpscared by Tom’s ye ye ass quality voice.

I would give it a 3/10 maybe a 4/10

Master Twyla: Master of Light, the teacher of these fucking kids, trying her best to keep the memory of the former EMs alive. Bops her on the head this bad girl can fit soooooo much trauma she's trying to overcome in her, goddamn

Ivy Crest: Master of Wind except not fully until S5 (thanks Morro), Morro's bio daughter and Ronin's adopted daughter (bet you can't guess who she prefers), expert in forgery and shit at mechanics. She and Nya form a close bond in S5 and Nya continues to try and teach her mechanical stuff (it does not work)

Luna McCallister/Garmadon: Master of Dreams, long lost Garmadon daughter who?, big fucking nerd. I have no idea when she and Lloyd realize their related but it makes their interactions at the comic store beforehand a lot funnier (for reference: she is about 2 years older than him)

Jonathan Borg: heir to Borg Industries, curious about the supernatural elements of Ninjago, knows about something he probably shouldn't. His place is not fully figured out yet but I feel like he's gonna start wanting to prove more useful after S7 to mixed results, esp bc his sister is way cooler than him

yay i’ve been wanting to talk about these silly guys :D (also adding Sawyer in cuz he’s Dew’s best friend, just not his roomate)

also this got long so i’m putting it under the read more :3

i’ll start with personalities:

so Layla is just overall very silly but also extremely smart and a genuinely nice and caring person. she’s the embodiment of quirky weird girls but doesn’t let people’s negative opinions of her affect her life. she loves animals and nature, especially insects and plants (also frogs and cats). she also really likes astrology but idk what her star sign is cuz i haven’t figured out their birthdays yet. she likes watching cartoons and anime with Dew and Sir Bonkles. she’s also a programmer and video game developer i think, her and Hayden wanna make a game together :3

Layla’s pronouns are she/her, she’s 23, autistic (because i can’t write a neurotypical character for the life of me), shes trans, bi, and 5’4 (one inch taller than Dew HAHAHA)

Hayden is my blorbo i love him. he’s a super nice and playful person, often goofing around and trying to make his friends laugh and have fun. he’s very hyper a lot and def has golden retriever energy. he loves reptiles and will not stop talking about them to anyone who would listen (same) and spends lots of time with his snake Mars. he loves to play video games but also likes being active outside and plays some sports. he and layla are definitely the two extroverts of the group lols

Hayden’s pronouns are he/they, he’s 23, he’s also autistic and has a special interest in reptiles, he’s got ADHD, he’s asexual, pan, and he’s 5’6 (my height)

Sawyer’s a mystery. he’s very closed off and reserved, doesn’t like talking to people much and doesn’t have much friends. but he’s really really nice when you get to know him, it just takes him a while to open up to people because of his social anxiety. he loves to play video games (his special interest) and is overall very introverted. but he loves his dog Rufus more than anything and spends a lot of time taking him on walks outside. he’s also kinda punk rock and has some piercings and tattoos, and he likes playing guitar and making music with Dew :)

Sawyer’s pronouns are he/she and she’s bigender, he’s 22, autistic, has OCD, she’s pansexual, and is 6’1 (the youngest AND tallest of the group)

alright so now their dynamics with each other and Dew:

Sawyer is Dew’s childhood best friend, they’ve been through everything together. Sawyer also has a crush on Dew, but has been too scared to tell him for years. after Dew’s parents died and he moved in with Layla and Hayden, he and Sawyer kinda started drifting further apart. this is because Sawyer didn’t know the other two that well, and she’s just a really socially awkward person and is scared talking to new people. also some other secret spoiler stuff i can’t say, but yeah.

Dew also likes Sawyer but he also likes Hayden and Layla (who are in a relationship) and is scared to tell any of them. i should also probably mention that they’re all polyamorous because i’m on the aroace spectrum and don’t know ANYTHING about romantic relationships, and monogamy just seems boring to me (/lh). so yeah Dew has a crush on all his friends but is a literal CHICKEN (they also like him back but don’t mention it to him. it’s also super obvious i mean Dew is a terrible liar).

Hayden and Layla are the gayest straight couple ever LOLL they’re silly!! (also not straight cuz they’re both bi/pan) they love each other!! i’m happy for them :) don’t know much else to say about that haha. like i said, Sawyer isn’t super close to them or anything but they like to have video game nights together so that’s fun.

Rufus, Sir Bonkles, and Mars all get along with everyone. Hayden doesn’t really let Mars near the cat that much because he can get the zoomies sometimes and go crazy (talking about Sir Bonkles but Hayden is also like that), but yeah they’re chill :) they get along and don’t try to kill each other!! (also not a good idea to introduce a snake and a cat irl)

i thiiink that’s about it about them? there’s probably more but those are all the main things!! OH YEAH Hayden is a huge sci-fi nerd and he sometimes desperately wishes he could be abducted by aliens and go on fun space adventures (same bro). and i’m making an alien abduction au with him being a main part of it, so im excited about that :3

I'm not much of a lyricy person, it's only in the past year and a bit when lyrics would actually start affecting me, but I've always loved "If you name me a street then I'll name you a bar, and I'll walk right through hell just to buy you a jar" from More Pricks Than Kicks by Shane MacGowan and the Popes, idk why it's just a really nice lyric, + it's been one of my favourite songs since I was 17 so yeah <3

every One Direction song is actually a banger, contrary to what my 13yo self believed. But if we're going with a specifically popular song, What Makes You Beautiful is genuinely one of the best songs ever written

29. what do you look for in a song or artist?

I have such a type when it comes to music and it's actually awful, like you could present me any song in any genre, but as long as it's in A and has some jangly guitar or dreamy synth and uses a 1-1-4-5 chord progression and maybe a descending 1-7-6-5 bit somewhere in the vocal melody, I will absolutely lose my mind and play it on repeat for days.

I do listen to other types of music but that's such bait for me it's actually shocking

I have a really specific criteria of what I look for in a song that isn't necessarily just the above thing, but I can't describe it in words, I only know when I hear a song whether or not it ticks any boxes.

When looking for an artist, I'll just find a song that I become obsessed with and then hope the rest of the artist's songs have similar vibes.

There are exceptions though, like when there's a song that doesn't really tick any boxes, but it does remind me of a fictional character, so although it might not do much to the Enjoying Music area of my brain, it does however give Blorbo Thoughts, which basically causes an equal response. But yeah

Kinda new here. Wednesday 13 is sorta a babe know pretty much nothing about him like.

you didn't exactly ask me but master has given dobby an opportunity to talk about the blorbo and I will take it cus he's such a fucking babe and the love of my life and his voice is so fucking gorgeous like there are exactly 2 singers that have ever made me go "holy shit his voice is perfect" literally with the very first line I've ever heard them sing and Weds was one of them like I am actually so fucking in love with this man it's not even funny

and the thing is there's so much music cus I don't think this dude has ever gone 3 years without releasing at least an EP for one of his projects?? like he's the frontman of his solo band and has been for the past 17 years or so but his breakthrough was fronting Murderdolls (which at the time most people knew for being Slipknot's Joey Jordison's other band) but even before that in the 90s there was Maniac Spider Trash and then a drag horror punk band called Frankenstein Drag Queens From Planet 13 - which btw is half of what my blog title is referring to cus while it's a Green Day lyric, Weds also collects toys from his childhood and he loves G.I. Joe and obvs has done his fair share of performing in tights lmao. and between all of that horror rock he's released there was also a glam metal album under the name Gunfire 76 and 3 albums of outlaw country he did in a duo called Bourbon Crow like this motherfucker literally just kicked the ball rolling in like mid 90s and then never fucking stopped for a second

he's literally just a funky grandpa who collects 80s children's toys and has a black cat named Scream and makes music about dicking the dead what's not to love

what I'm saying is you should check out 'Cadaverous' and 'Bury The Hatchet' from his name band Wednesday 13 and 'Summertime Suicide' and 'People Hate Me' from Murderdolls and 'Screwdriver' which was FDQFP13 song and has been redone under the solo band and both versions are mazing okay cool alright I'll shush
