[Episodes 1] There is no escape—we pay for the violence of our ancestors

"We were once far greater than this," That's what your mother often told you many times when you were much younger.

For the most part, the tales from your mother's lips were no different from myths. The details were ancient and blurred by time, seeming more like delusions than truths. People never believed anything she said, dismissing her as just another mad woman with an unsound mind.

You were the only one who fully believed your mother, not just because she was your mother.

But because you saw it, just as your mother had seen, and just as all your ancestors before them had seen.

The Awakening —that's what your mother called it. It was said that one of your distant ancestors could look back into the past and see thousands of years into the future.

Mother believed this was a gift, a great inherited legacy passed down through blood, bone, and spirit, strung together for countless eons.

You thought the opposite. You saw it more as a curse.

Since the collapse in the past, your lineage has greatly weakened, and not everyone could bear the Awakening like your great ancestors. Knowing too much, even knowing what shouldn't be known, was an unnatural mechanism that directly affected both body and mind. The more one saw, the more twisted and destroyed they became.

Thus, everyone's fate was not much different. Most ended up committing suicide or being killed. A few went mad, and even fewer were scorned and despised by others as being crazy.

Fortunately, your mother was the latter.

You firmly believed this, until your mother intentionally gave you poison to drink when you were fifteen.

"Drink it," Your mother voice was harsh as she placed the glass on the wooden table in front of you. Inside was a pungent blue liquid that smelled like cinnamon mixed with some kind of medicine. She had a glass in her own hand as well, gripping it tightly as if it were precious. Her blue eyes, once as dark as ink, were now pale and vacant, not even bothering to look at you.

For a moment, just a few seconds but feeling like an eternity, as the strange smell wafted into your nose, the awakening enveloped your senses. You looked up into your mother's eyes, acutely aware of what she was about to do.

"Ten percent, Hara," your mother told you, her voice flat and emotionless. "Worth the risk."

That was the last sentence before she drank the poisoned glass in one gulp. Your mother's entire body collapsed in front of you, and never woke up again.

Outsiders judged on their own that your mother was insane, deranged to the point of trying to commit suicide along with her own daughter using some strange, untraceable poison.

And since then, you have always denied your own power.

You didn't want to be like your mother, and you didn't want to end up like others in the past.

But fate has its own path. Sometimes it can be changed, but often it cannot be avoided.

You realized this truth when you met him for the first time, as you stepped into your seventeenth year.

Your breath comes in ragged gasps, filled with panic. Your entire body hangs suspended in mid-air, swaying back and forth as you struggle to find a way to escape. But no matter how hard you try, it is useless. The straw rope from the trap binding your ankles is too tight, and the branch of the large tree to which the rope is attached is too strong. You know well that you have no way of getting out of here unless someone comes to help.

"Say ‘please’."

You look towards the voice, seeing an upside-down image of a man leaning against that tree. He wears an old black cloak with patches of mending here and there. One hand casually twirls a short knife, its sharp tip gleaming in flashes of sunlight.

You respond by spitting at him.

Of course, your saliva doesn't reach his face, barely making it to his feet. It becomes yet another futile attempt on your part. He laughs at you mockingly, and that laughter irritates you even more. You struggle harder until you can feel the straw rope fibers cutting into the flesh of your ankles. Blood begins to trickle out bit by bit.

"You're about to cut off your own legs, you know that?"

You stop your actions when he approaches. Those black eyes still gleam with amusement as he stands watching your pitiful state for a moment, deliberately torturing you a little for your defiance, before finally deciding to help.

One of his hands swiftly cuts the rope, while his other arm wraps around your waist to prevent you from headbutting the ground. You had never known his strength until today, discovering that he could carry your body and flip you back to standing on the ground with just one arm, without his expression changing one bit. As if you were just a plank of wood, not a full-grown human.

"You shouldn't run away like this," he says, gesturing around the dense forest. Wherever one looks, there is nothing but trees and grass packed tightly everywhere. "The planet Khofar is full of dangers. Even most bounty hunters don't like coming here much."

You already knew that, and it was the main reason why you chose to hide on this wild, forested planet for the past two years.

Who would have thought you'd meet someone else crazy and brave enough to come here too?

"What's here that's more dangerous than you?" You retort without hesitation.

You have never trusted this strange man, and this isn't the first time you have tried to escape from him. But whenever you manage to find a way to run, he always tracks you down, like a game of cat and mouse.

And you are quite sure that he enjoys hunting you. The gleam in his eyes reveals as much, clear, and undisguised.

"I'll take that as a compliment."

The man smiles mischievously without flinching. His hand grips your upper arm, refusing to let go. You feel yourself shrink when standing close to him. He is as tall and large as a stone pillar, his sharp features with a slight beard giving off an atmosphere of stern seriousness. Even though there is a playful smile on his face, it does nothing to diminish his intimidating presence.

"Alright, little girl. Instead of just running away like this, don't you think it's time we sit down and have a real talk?"

He bends down, bringing his eyes level with yours. You see the scrutinizing, fault-finding look in his eyes as they survey every feature of your face, stripping you bare with his piercing gaze, trying to find the slightest sign of anything you might be hiding.

"Tell me, how does a small woman like you, who has nothing, end up becoming a wanted criminal with a bounty on her head?"

Wanted Criminal—that's what Qimir has called you since your first encounter, and it is the same reason you have been stuck with him for so long.

Someone, or perhaps many people, have decided to label you a criminal, putting a price on your head as if you were dangerous, even though you haven't done anything terrible at all.

Your only crime was being born into this lineage. That alone is enough to be branded as a danger, unworthy of living in any galaxy.

True, those events have long passed, so much so that most people have forgotten that your ancestry once existed in this universe. But there are still some groups who remember well. These are people who fear history will repeat itself, wanting to permanently erase the cursed bloodline, and those who desire to exploit the hidden power that exists only in your family line.

And when your mother chose to die early, there was no one left but you—the only bloodline of past greatness still breathing and sane. Now you are the final target being hunted relentlessly by those people.

You don't have many choices. The only way to survive safely is to keep running aimlessly, like a legless bird that never stops flying until death, trying to hide as discreetly as possible.

You have lived like this all along, never being caught once, and never revealing yourself to anyone. But even Homer sometimes nods. Eventually, failure creeps up on you unexpectedly when this strange, peculiar man appears.

Qimir is a smuggler and mercenary who takes on any job that pays well, legal or illegal. Like other bounty hunters, he seeks fortune by hunting you, but he managed to do what many others couldn't—he was the first to find you and capture you without getting his throat slit first.

You are puzzled by this man. It is strange that he doesn't just kill you but instead keeps you like a stray animal he has taken in. He doesn't imprison you but won't let you leave either. His mind is full of endless curiosity, questioning everything about you. He keeps asking you repeatedly why an ordinary girl like you has such a high bounty on your head.

Of course, you have no intention of answering him, no matter how much he persists.

"It seems everyone wants to get their hands on you. Did you know even the Jedi are looking for you?" Qimir had told you, his tone a mix of warning and intimidation. "You're not secretly some kind of Sith or something, are you?"

'Sith' is a forbidden word throughout the Empire. The name of an evil, ruthless sect that believes in absolute power and tyranny. They are the complete opposite of the Jedi, known as the guardians of virtue and keepers of peace in the universe.

Hearing this, you can't help but laugh derisively. To you, both Jedi and Sith are bizarre, extreme factions locked in an endless struggle, as if the entire universe were just black and white.

"I don't have the Force, so I can't be a Sith. And I can't be a Jedi either," you reveal, cautiously avoiding saying more than necessary. "I'm just me, nothing more."

Qimir stares at you intently, his eyes narrowing slightly and thick eyebrows furrowed. It is clear he doesn't believe what you say. If he had the Force, you think he must be trying to read your mind right now.

But even a Jedi couldn't do anything. You have learned many things from your mother's teachings, one of which is how to shield your mind. Without your permission, no one can invade your thoughts.

Qimir sighs and shakes his head slowly, eventually giving up his attempt to catch you lying. "Then you're useless," he says, and you see this as a great opportunity.

"Exactly. My mother used to say keeping a Tooka was more useful than keeping me," you say, biting your lip as your left leg throbs with pain from a deep wound. You are too tired to fight him and can't even walk properly, which only makes your words seem more plausible. "And now, with my injured leg, I'll just be a burden to you..."

Qimir glances at you again, considering the serious, solemn expression you are feigning. A slight smile tugs at his lips, nearly breaking into a laugh. He isn't fooled by your act.

"For a burden worth Nova Crystals, I'm willing to carry it," he says.

He doesn't just speak—in the blink of an eye, he wraps an arm around your waist and easily lifts your body over his shoulder, causing you to scream in surprise. Hearing the satisfied laughter from him only makes you more furious and resentful towards this man.

I must kill him and escape your resolve is firm, even though you know it won't be easy.

My Only 12% episode 5.

I was either crying or felt like crying for the majority of this episode. Ooof. Powerful stuff. I don't really have many coherent thoughts about it yet.

The opening voice over in the first episode had tricked me into thinking that See-eiw already knew he was gay and that he was in love with Cake. So re-evaluating the first four episodes knowing that he didn't know -- that makes everything feel so much sadder.

They were really taking Love of Siam to task for how much damage tragic endings to queer stories can do. That was very pointed, and it also felt very righteous, in the best sense of that word. Among everything, it also gives me hope that this story will have a happy ending for them. That scene is strong evidence for @bengiyo's hypothesis that this show is New's correction to Love of Siam.

I am so relieved that Hom turned out to be supportive and loving and affirming. Cake was so lost about why See-eiw was pulling away, and trying so hard to understand and to fix it. Even though that's heartbreaking, I think it is also a good thing that See-eiw is branching out and making a new friend in Sand. (Although there is still something mysterious about him, even though I do like him.)

I adore Hom. Which makes me nervous about this Peak storyline. (Also, Peak - you are not Toh, and this is not Secret Crush On You. Get those photos off your wall this instant.)

I don't really know where the genre borders are, but a lot of this episode felt more like a queer story than a BL. But this cliffhanger almost kiss feels very BL. It also seems like Se-eiw is starting to adjust to living with this new understanding of himself, which puts the emotions of the show back onto a more even keel.

It looks like no timeskip next week. We're heading closer to the halfway point of the 14 episode run, I wonder when that's going to happen. Not till episode 11 or 12?

His snout is long and formed into a loose snarl, eyes crimson bright and pupils narrowed into pinpricks.

Stiles stops breathing at the sight, goosebumps rattling up his skin and eyes catching on the blood that drips down the beast's fingers. He doesn’t see how this thing could be human at any time, so monstrous and terrifying as it is.

There were 76 people that joined, however some questions were optional so not all 76 filled them all out.

The first question was who is your bias, a very essential and necessary question. By now, with all my fangirling about him having dark hair once again, you should know I’m personally a Seonghwa bias.

For those who can not see the picture, and also since you can’t see all the percents. 

San is up in here stealing everyone’s hearts with 17.1% being the most popular member.

Seonghwa and Hongjoong are second most popular with 15.8% of the votes.

Mingi and Yunho, a fitting pair am I right, are the next with 13.2% of the votes.

Yeosang and Jongho are next, despite Jonho’s not showing the percentage he has the same as Yeosang, with 7.9% of the votes.

OT8 is second to last with 6.6% of the votes.

Wooyoung rounds out the list with only 2.6% of the votes.

Personally these results shock me. San and Seonghwa, I expected, we are all hoes for San and Seonghwa and we know it. Hongjoong surprised me, especially seeing how in our Valentine’s day one of these he was third least popular. Yeosang is another that surprises me, he went from being the second most popular in the Valentine’s day one to the third least popular. Wooyoung surprises me the most, yet I feel like that’s just because I see so many Wooyoung biases that are vocal af on twitter, but like not really that many here on tumblr. What surprised you guys the most about this?

Next is the bias wrecker section, which allowed for multiple picks, and multiple picks were made.

Seonghwa the most popular with just over half of Atiny admitting he wrecks their bias list, getting 56.6%.

San the next, which isn’t surprising with 44.7% of the votes.

Wooyoung just barely takes third with 40.8% of the votes.

Yunho in fourth with 39.5% of the votes.

Hongjoong gets fifth with 38.2% of the votes.

Mingi takes sixth with 36.8% of votes.

Yeosang has seventh place with 30.3%.

Jongho is our eighth place with 27.6% of the votes.

I feel like this isn’t surprising, or really that different from our Valentine’s day one. Like Seonghwa has 56.9% last time, so half of Atiny really being bias wrecked by this man. 

We then have the question I added just because one of my mutuals said she wanted to fight Jongho, well more specifically she said she wanted Jongho to bust open her skull, which member of Ateez would you fight if you could. 

We as Atiny have just collectively decided to fight San, and I love it. He can’t stop all of us and he has 34.7% of the votes.

Wooyoung follows him with 16.7% percent of Atiny wanting to throw down with him.

Seonghwa rounds out the top three with 13.9%, yet with those rude looks and that unnecessarily sexy dance to Baby Shark, I can not blame you.

Hongjoong takes fourth place with 11.1% of the votes.

Mingi and Jongho have taken fifth place together with 8.3% of the votes, and I can’t decide whether this is a good idea or not, since Jongho could end you, unless you are into that kind of thing.

Yeosang took seventh place with 5.6% of the votes.

Yunho took eighth place with 1.4% of the votes, one single person wants to fight him.

Next up we have, who do you think is the most popular bias.

Well, 60% of you ain’t wrong, since it is San. 

Hongjoong has 13.3% of the votes, which like close but still no.

Seonghwa has 12% of the votes.

Mingi has 8%.

Wooyoung has 4% of the votes.

Yunho has 2.7% of the votes.

Jonho and Yeosang didn’t even get a vote, which I personally an offended by.

Next was least popular bias.

Which, well, 56.8% are wrong since apple boy is not the least popular, which like I know, shocked me too since I never see many vocal Jongho biases like anywhere.

Yunho, 18.9% yet once again, wrong.

Yeosang, 17.6%, yet once again, nope.

Mingi 2.7% also also nope.

Wooyoung, Seonghwa, and Hongjoong all are tied with 1.4%, which is one vote, so that means one person accurately guessed who the least popular bias was.

San didn’t even get a vote, like ya’ll knew there was no way he was not popular.

Then we had most popular bias wrecker.

Over half thought San would be most popular, but shockingly he was not.

Almost half thought Seonghwa was, which was right,.

Then we have Wooyoung, which was close but not right.

Then we have Hongjoong.

Treasure, 21.9%, honestly this mv was just stunning, like this wasn’t the quality you expect from a debut.

Pirate King, 16.4%, we also love our pirates that dance in the middle of the desert. 

Wave, 13.7%, art, our first win, she deserves respect.

Illusion, 6.8%, you 5 that voted this are intellects since I was personally team Illusion when we were voting for which of the two.

Then we had the album questions, which is your favorite album?

Ep 2 our gothic space cowboys to the win with 56.2%

EP 3 takes second with 30.1%.

Ep 1 is third with 13.7%.

Then we had favorite b-side track, which I realized I should have probably made many questions for this since there were so many songs, but I didn’t think of that at the time.

Our king Hala Hala took this title away with little fight. 22.4% of the votes.

Aurora came in second with 18.4%, I believe the cause is that one part of the choreo, you guys know what I mean.

Promise came in third with 15.8% which I understand, like that Mnet mv for it was my favorite thing for like 3 weeks.

Desire and Utopia took fourth with 11.8%.

Twilight and Light both got 6.6%.

My Way got 3.9%

From and Dancing Like Butterfly Wings got 1.3%.

Stay and Crescent both got no votes.

SU rewatch- S1E3- Cheeseburger Backpack

Okay, new sideblog! No more worrying about links! Let’s just cut right to the chase and dive right in to the observations from now on-

Ah yes, Jamie. The mailman/actor I don’t think even has a last name, the one I genuinely forgot existed before rewatching this ep. (Sorry bud!) Whatever happened to Jamie anyways..?

Major kudos for this beautifully candid screenshot I got here, what a LOOK. 

Shortly after Change Your Mind aired, I saw a post somewhere pointing out how when Connie asked “Are you you,” Steven didn’t even bother to lift his shirt up to check if his gem was there after he refused with his Gem self, instead just confidently confirming, “I’m me!” In stark contrast, waaaaay back at the very beginning we’re presented with a young 12-yr-old Steven who still feels the need to present his gem as “proof” that he’s just as much a part of the Crystal Gems as the others.

Pearl, Garnet, and Amethyst all know very, very well how he came to be but it’s clear in the early eps that they even then need a bit of reminding that Steven’s far more than a regular human boy. It’s also super indicative of where he’s at on his journey of self acceptance. He’s not only trying to prove that he belongs to them, he’s still trying to prove it to himself.

At this moment, his sense of self worth is tightly wound up in their opinion of him.

(5 seasons later... “I don’t need you to respect me, I respect me-” Dang, I’m getting really misty eyed about the character development already, and I’m not even halfway into season 1! This rewatch can, and will kill me off. I guarantee.)

On Steven and the warp pads...

Amethyst: “Suck it in, Steven!”

Pearl: “Do you remember how to do this?”

While on a story level I get that they wanted to introduce the concept of the warp pads to an audience who didn’t know how they functioned through Steven’s fresh eyes, these comments intrigue me because they suggest that Steven’s barely ever used the warp pads. It’s a reasonable assumption that he’s just recently moved into the house at the temple at season’s start, of course... but the newness of it all makes it seem like this is only his second (or third or fourth etc) time. Did the Gems really not take him on any fun day trips? Not ever? I mean, maybe they just thought it’d be too much of a risk with Steven so young, but...

I dunno, on the rewatch this detail came as a bit of an unexpected surprise to me. I didn’t remember this.

In this case, this makes this episode super, super important, because it’s literally the first time they’ve let him tag along on any of their out-of-Beach City business at all. My baby’s first Gem Mission ;D;

*sniffs* I’m so proud.

I just think this screenshot is really funny hfshfjfs it has a lot of meme potential. 

Steven, probably,, “ho shit I almost diED”

But real talk, Steven’s ingenuity here in crossing to the sea spire is great. This is but one of MAAANY examples in this show of how Steven, having a foot in both worlds, is able to think in ways the Gems never could. 

Immediately after his near death experience, there’s a series of character interactions that perfectly sum up each Gem’s relationship with Steven and it’s absolutely precious:

Garnet gives his head a quick affectionate motherly scruffle.

Amethyst, like a true sibling figure, jabs a playful elbow right into his shoulder.

And Pearl, ever so loving and protective, gently touches his arm to gesture for him to continue along with her.

Pearl: “H-how did you know that would work??" Steven: “Well, if I were a shrimp, that’s what I would do!”

This kid has always been very good at empathizing with other people and beings, and tapping into their minds to see/feel how they conceptualize things. Even now when it’s purely Steven being Steven- no gem powers involved at all. With this in mind, it’s only natural that eventually he grows to have emphatic telepathic powers to LEGIT tap into people’s emotions.

Also- he distracts them with food. While the three Gems were ready to strike with attacks, he chooses to take the pacifist route. This shows just how good being around Steven is for them, too. All of the Crystal Gems are fairly peaceful on the whole as well- only using force if absolutely necessary- but Steven’s relationship with them has continued to teach them that there’s always another way. There’s always a way to solve conflicts that doesn’t fall to war.

Garnet: “What have you got?”

I have to imaging that for Steven- having Garnet, the de-facto leader of the Crystal Gems- asking HIM what his plan is feels great.

Also both Amethyst AND Pearl chanting “Cheeseburger backpack” is the most adorable thing in all the nine realms, I swear. In earlier eps they were a bit more doubtful of how helpful any of Steven’s bizarre ideas would be, but here they’re rallying in newfound support for them and aaaaa it’s precious :DD

Look at him, he’s so proud! (And so am I.)

By the end of course, Steven’s all about to fall into despair- he messed up his first Gem mission and they’ll probably never let him tag along with them again, he’s probably thinking.

And then, in the dire circumstances, he receives a response he likely didn’t expect...

Pearl: “You handled everything well under pressure. You did great!” Amethyst: “Yeah, 2 out of 4 of your ideas worked! That’s fifty percent!”

Steven: “Yeah, I guess you’re right. They can’t all be winners.”

Pearl and Amethyst’s praise of Steven’s efforts here are absolutely paramount in paving the way for his growth in confidence, in the end. In a wide world he’s still trying to make sense of and figure out his place in, they make him feel like he’s truly one of them in this moment more than they ever have (at least, with what we’ve seen) before.

In that way, what happens in this episode paves the way for literally everything else in this show moving forward.

Rewatching the Firefly series. 

Here comes my totally random commentary! 1) I forgot how Firefly opens with all the lasers and explosions of Mal and Zoe in what we later learn is the battle of serenity valley. For some reason I always think it opens with Wash and the dinosaurs. "grrr!" 2) "We've done the impossible and that makes us mighty." 3) "You know why we're not going to die? Because we're so very, very pretty. We're just too pretty to die." 4) I always loved how the opening scene cut from the noise and confusion of the battle to the silent and slow movements of Mal and the crew in space. It made for an very impacting opening sequence. 5) "We will rule over all this land and we will call it... this land. -- I think we should call it your grave. -- Ah, curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!" Classic Wash 6) "Oh motherless son of a b--" totally going to steal this

7) Out of all the sci-fi shows I've watched, I still think the Serenity is my favourite ship. Mal: "Only if you say it out loud." 21) oh man I forgot all the !drama! in the first ep.  And Kaylee is the one who ends up getting shot during the stand off with the Alliance agent 22) Jayne: "Move out of the way." Book: "You're not killing this man." Jayne: "Not right away." Classic Jayne 23) Simon talking about River and what happened to her 24) "Can we maybe take a vote on the whole murder thing?" Wash trying to be the voice of reason 25) "Got me a boatload of terribly strange folk making my life a little more interesting than I generally like." Gotta love Mal's way with words. 26) Mal: "Now you only gotta scare him." Jayne: "Pain is scary." Jayne logic 27) Great characterisation with Jayne's loyalties to Mal being a bit of a grey area. Willing to take a bribe and betray the captain? Or is he? 28) REAVERS!!! 29) they did such a great job of making the Reavers this ambiguous yet horrifying and credible threat throughout the eps and into the movie. 30) "You're lost in the woods. We all are, even the captain. Only difference is, he likes it that way." 31) Ah yes now I remember how much the UST between Mal and Inara drove me crazy. 32) Mal telling Simon that Kaylee was dead and then laughing about it with the rest of the crew on the bridge while Simon was in a panic running down to save her #badman 33) Mal: "I do believe that woman's planning to shoot me again." Jayne: "Here's a concept I've been working on. Why don't we shoot her first?" Wash: "It is her turn." Totally Reasonable Conversations. 34) "One of those will feed a family for a month. Longer, if they don't like their kids too well." Mal's understated sense of humor is a great aspect of his characterisation. 35) "I did a job and I got nothing but trouble since I did it. Not to mention more than a few unkind words as regards to my character. So let me make this abundantly clear. I do the job. And then I get paid." 1/? reasons not to cross Mal. 36) "You don't know me son, so let me explain this to you once. If I ever kill you, you'll be awake, you'll be facing me and you'll be armed." - Mal Honor among the outlawed

The Ledge #502: Best Records of 2021 NYE Countdown

So your favorite online radio DJ decided to spend a bitterly cold New Year's Eve playing over six hours of the best music of 2021. But what else would I have done? New Year's Eve is amateur night, and I haven't ventured out of my house for the big night in years.

With the big night lining up with a Ledge weekly broadcast, the decision to do a "Casey Kasem" was easy. So this show is a true marathon. First off, there's a countdown of the 20 best reissues, box sets, compilations, and tribute albums of the year. Then there's a countdown of the 40 best albums of 2021, and we hit the stroke of midnight in the eastern and central time zones with tracks from some of the great singles and EP's of the year, along with tunes from a number of great albums that barely missed the cut of making the big countdown.

Honestly, while the world is melting down we are somehow seeing a cultural renaissance. How else could I put together a six hour playlist of nothing but music from the past year? It's simply incredible how much wonderful music is coming out on a weekly basis from all over the world. This is why I do The Ledge, and why there's an episode every month that consists of nothing but new releases.

I sincerely hope everyone enjoyed their holiday season, and that 2022 turns out to be a magical year for you all!

20. Again I love how Rey and Ben were, but what I lived the most is that when Ben, during that one moment, reverted back to Kylo (the mask) she rejected him, because he honestly needs to fix himself, and he can't do that if she goes with him

21. Luke and Leia's scene killed me. Yes, I am indeed a ghost writing this long ass review lol

22. Also Snoke is an ass. That is all. He's an ass.

But seriously that moment where they were all in the throne room and he just decided to manipulate Rey and Ben both by saying their bond was his doing, making them feel as though it shouldn't exist, that it was a perverse lie, BUT THEN IN THE END YOU SEE IT STILL EXISTS DESPITE SNOKE'S DEATH LIKE AAAAAHH

24. Luke's death was, once again, beautiful. It was like Yoda's, in a way, and he just accepted that his part was played. He had no role in any of this anymore. He had fulfilled his purpose, and was able to die in peace. Hence "Peace and Purpose"

25. Also I love that Ben wasn't the one who killed him.

26. OK but honestly Luke really messed up with Ben. I mean he tried to kill a child in his sleep. And then what Luke said "I saw the eyes of a child betrayed by his master" or something like that

33. Oh and I love the recurring thing that Ben says ie "Say it" because it shows not only that Rey's lying to herself, but also that Ben is too, only he's unable to see the good as Rey is the bad, and I just really love this parallel

34. Anyway since it's obvious that if Ben dies Rey will too (raw powah + 2 halves + Force Bond?? Duh) so either they're gonna pull a Romeo and Juliet in 9 (pls no) or they're gonna inverse Anidala and have Ben make comments on sand (lol)

I have never seen Cagney and Lacey! I know it is a cop show that older lesbians all scream about loving, and that’s the extent of my knowledge. Apparently the fact that I have zero percent context for literally anything that is going on is the allure.

The Facts of Life, S4 Ep 13 "Magnificent Obsession"

A SHOW I HAVE SEEN. I watched a lot of The Facts of Life on Nick at Nite when i was like...12? Anyway, I am a big believer in Jo/Blair because please I am butch/femme class romance trash, and you don’t even have to look at that shit sideways to get there. 

Jet said this really formalated her love of complicated friendships, because I can’t remember this episode at all. Because of this and the fact that she said I am allowed to “Holligay the fuck out of it” I assume ti about Jo and Blair, so look forward to me trying not to scream “LET THEM KISS YOU COWARDS” at the screen and utterly, utterly fail

JEM, S1 Ep 16 "The Rock Fashion Book"

I literally only know of JEM from watching Jet’s liveblogs of it. I know it is about rock girls who live together and fight crime I guess? I know they are truly outrageous, as I imagine I will find this show.

Earlier, i was allowed to be my own person with my own unique and complex views on the world. Those times are over. Those times are dead. Jet’s city now. .She actually picked this episode off a list I’d made for her to do someday, and it is one of my favorite episodes of TZ of all time, which is a show I know SO FUCKING WELL FRIENDS. It was the first complete series I ever bought, and shaped a lot of how I think about writing. This episode is such a great story, and it’s so interesting to put it in mind with what was being put out for TV back then. TZ IS SUCH AN AMAZING SHOW

A storm was raging across the surface of an unfamiliar planet, and through the small viewport, nothing was visible except for the relentless sheets of rain and the murky, gray sky. All other sounds were drowned out by the deafening roar of raindrops striking the roof. The air was thick with the damp scent of rain, but it couldn’t mask the overpowering stench of blood that lingered stronger still.

You closed your eyes, taking a long, measured breath, trying to calm your turbulent mind. You had known this was inevitable, yet the guilt burning in your chest hadn't diminished at all.

Your mind drifted back to your memories. Three days ago, you had begun using your prescient visions once more, searching for the future that lay ahead. It was then that you saw one path in destiny—a crucial opportunity to escape Qimir. The likelihood of success was a staggering hundred percent. As long as events unfolded along this path with no missteps, freedom would be yours, true and unshackled, severing all ties with him and every other bounty hunter who might come after you.

However, the price for your freedom was steep, paid with the blood of others.

And that price had already been exacted—on Qimir, with you as the cause.

That was the story you had seen in your vision. Like the butterfly effect, it all began with a small rumor that spread like wildfire among the bounty hunters—a whisper passed from one to another, ear to ear, that Qimir was in possession of a woman with a high bounty on her head, and they were now wandering across the galaxy together.

These rumors fueled the greed of many, and eventually, a group of daring bandits concocted a sinister plan. The plan was brutally simple: kill Qimir, capture the woman, and claim the bounty for themselves.

Your prophetic vision had laid it all bare for you. They would attempt to assassinate Qimir on a day when a heavy storm raged on a remote planet far beyond the reach of the Republic's watchful eye. Everything was perfectly set for murder and evidence concealment, ensuring that no lawkeeper would trace the deed back to them.

But what those criminals hadn't considered was that Qimir was no easy prey.

You had faced off against Qimir multiple times. You knew him thoroughly, unquestionably in his skill, and the future vision confirmed this. Even though he would be surrounded by over a dozen armed men, Qimir was still formidable enough to defeat them all—and ruthless enough to kill every one of them, leaving no one alive to tell others about you.

You already knew he wouldn't die, but this fight would severely injure him, paving the way for your escape. Qimir would have no chance of catching up with you, and if you managed to escape successfully, he would never find you again. The thread of fate binding you two together would end there.

You knew this was the only chance you'd been waiting for. The chance to break free from him. as you've always wanted.

So, you chose not to warn Qimir, even though you knew exactly what he would face.

You didn't care who got hurt or died. You fully embraced the truth that you were not a good person because this universe had no place for good people. To survive, one had to learn to be selfish and heartless. This was how you were raised, and there was no changing that.

All you have to do is wait. Let fate play out as you've foreseen it. Don't interfere; don't alter the course. Then, when Qimir is gravely injured, you'll leave him here, steal his ship, and escape to another planet. That would be the end of all this chaos—no more being hunted, no more death, and no more Sith haunting your dreams.

Everything seemed so easy in your mind. But when the moment arrived, you found yourself hesitating.

Your clear blue eyes gazed down at the large figure lying on the floor. Qimir's face was growing paler by the moment. His eyes closed in unconsciousness. His body was riddled with wounds, and his clothes were soaked with blood that had darkened to a deep crimson. At a glance, it was hard to tell if he was even breathing, but deep down, you knew he wasn't going to die—not today.

And yet, the sight of him had a greater impact on you than you'd expected.

You clenched your fists so tightly that your nails dug into your palms, the pain sinking deep into your thoughts. A voice from your conscience whispered accusations, telling you this was all your fault. You might not have wielded the knife against him, but you allowed this to happen. You were part of what led him to this fate.

You quickly shook your head, trying to banish the nagging thoughts. You had no reason to feel guilty about Qimir. He was a bounty hunter, after all. He had captured you and imprisoned you, all for the sake of a reward. He was just as selfish as you. You don't need to care about him at all.

You tried—really tried—to convince yourself of that. You tried to force yourself to walk away while you still had the chance.

But in the end, you found yourself right back where you started. Back where Qimir's body lay unconscious, injured, and vulnerable, as if he could die at any moment.

“Damn it!” You curse under your breath, frustration gnawing at you as you kneel down, gathering all your strength to lift him off the ground, not caring that his blood is staining you all over.

You pulled his arm over your shoulder, struggling greatly as Qimir was much bigger than you. But you were determined to drag him through the rain and onto the ship as quickly as possible before anyone else stumbled upon you and the bodies of the criminals.

You knew you were getting yourself into trouble. You knew that well.

But this time, to hell with fate.

“How long am I unconscious?”

Qimir’s question makes you frown, your eyes drifting for a moment in thought. “About a week, I guess. I didn’t count.” You shake your head before focusing on examining the large wound on his abdomen again. “Don’t move. Do you want to tear your wound open again?” you scold him firmly, pushing gently against his chest as he attempts to sit up suddenly.

Qimir complies, though he feels somewhat bored. It has been three days since he regained consciousness, but he remains confined to the hard bed of his ship, with you attending to his every need—cooking for him, applying medicine, and wiping him down. You do all this without a single complaint.

In truth, the wound is minor for him. He could heal himself completely right now if he wants to, but he doesn’t want to draw any unwanted attention from you. Moreover, deep down, he enjoys your care and attention. With this thought, enduring another few days of lying still isn’t so bad.

Qimir watches as you move closer, close enough that he can smell the faint scent of sandalwood from you. It is a strangely calming scent. You place your hand on his abdomen, near his wound, your fingers carefully tracking along the shape of his muscles. Your face looks worried as you look up at him. “Does it still hurt?”

Not at all, he thinks, but chooses to answer the opposite. “It hurts.”

You lower your eyes, trying to ignore Qimir’s gaze that has been fixed on you constantly since he fully regained consciousness. You reach for the Bacta spray, telling him, “Just bear with the pain for a bit, okay?” Then you spray the healing substance on his wound. The blue liquid covers all the damaged areas on his skin, rapidly regenerating new flesh.

The bacta healing process is quite painful for a large wound like this. However, Qimir’s expression doesn’t change one bit.

After finishing dressing the wound, you are about to move away, but Qimir grabs your arm, holding you in place.

“Why did you save me?”

You hesitate, taken aback. Even though you knew he would eventually ask this question, you are momentarily speechless.

You had previously tried to come up with a hundred reasons to answer this question for yourself, but no matter how much you pondered, none of the answers seemed entirely correct.

Even now, you still don’t understand yourself. Why?

Why are you still standing here? Why haven’t you just left him?

“I don’t know,” you say honestly, pretending to busy yourself with putting the medical supplies back into the box, avoiding his gaze. “I just didn’t want to see you like that.”

“Like what?”

“Like...” You close your eyes, and even with your eyes closed, you can still feel Qimir’s intense gaze. This time, it holds more than just curiosity. There is something in his eyes that makes your heart waver and tremble. “I didn’t want to see you hurt,” you say, opening your eyes, but you still don’t turn to face him.

Qimir notices your nervousness, which you can’t hide. He can tell you are speaking the truth, not lying.

He chuckles at your reaction before playfully tugging at your hand, pulling you closer until you are almost breathing on each other’s necks. You stiffen, your face flushing lightly, but you don’t pull away or push him off.

“You are worried about me?” His voice is low but not threatening. On the contrary, you think it sounds oddly seductive.

You bite your lip hard, refusing to answer his question. You’d rather die than admit you are worried about him because you know that if you do, he’ll start to get cocky. You don’t want to boost his already towering ego any further.

Qimir seems unwilling to give up his intentions. He raises his hand to cup your face, gently forcing you to look at him again. As your eyes lock with his, your breath quickens involuntarily. It is the first time you are this close to someone, so close that you can feel the warmth radiating from his body and see all the details you have only observed from afar before—his collarbones, his sharp jawline, and his eyes...

You notice that Qimir’s eyes are pitch black, devoid of any other color, as if nothing exists within them but an empty darkness.

Strangely, you think Qimir makes that black color look captivating.

Your heart pounds erratically as he leans in closer, his nose almost touching yours. For a moment, you think he might kiss you, but instead, Qimir simply tucks a loose strand of your hair behind your ear.

“You know, you don’t have to hide yourself when you’re with me,” Qimir whispers, his fingers tracing your cheek slowly. The warmth of his touch lingers long after he has pulled away.

You blink, momentarily lost in a trance. As reality rushes back, you step back as if you have touched something scalding. Without a word, you quickly make your way out of his room, almost running in your haste.

Yet, even then, you can still feel Qimir’s dark eyes following your every move, watching you until you vanish from sight.

Swallowing hard, you place your hands over your chest, hoping to calm your racing heart. With each passing day, it becomes more apparent that Qimir’s presence is disturbing your thoughts and emotions deeply. The only solution seems to be distancing yourself from him before things go too far.

But it is impossible for you to stay away from him. No matter where you go, his presence, his scent, his gaze, and his voice always manage to find you.

And you know well that, deep down, you don’t want to leave him either.

VICTOR VOX

Carvansérail: Your music blends blues, jazz, folk and rock and roll. What are your main influences?

Victor_I grew up in an artistic family, my mum being a painter and my dad a writer, so I was immersed from an early age into various art forms which I think had a strong impact on my music making. I remember being fascinated as a kid by the various Edward Hopper prints scattered around my house, trying to work out in my head the stories of these mysterious characters and locations. Thinking of it, storytelling was a big part of my upbringing, with my dad inventing stories on the spot for me at bedtime (he is a great storyteller!). Music wise, I spent my teens listening to a lot of traditional and world music (mostly afro-Cuban jazz, instrumental tango music, flamenco, klezmer, Balkan brass band music and African blues and Kora music) and a LOT of 60’s and 70’s rock and fusion-jazz. I also studied Cinema at university in Paris and movies (and their soundtracks) have always been a major source of inspiration for me. From 1990’s thrillers/suspense movies to Spaghetti Westerns, Science fiction and horror movies to the more ‘masterful’ cinematic monuments by directors such as Stanley Kubrick (‘Barry Lyndon’ is probably my favourite movie of all time) or Terrence Malick (‘Badlands’ - what a film!). When it comes to literature, I don’t read a whole lot of fiction (although I like sci-fi and I’m a true fan of Philip K Dick), but I love reading plays (Arthur Miller’s ‘Death Of A Salesman’ is an all time favourite of mine) and most of all, I enjoy reading about History (my two most recent recommendations on that front would be ‘Sapiens’ by Yuval Noah Harari and Richard Holmes’ ‘The Age Of Wonders’).  

C: Could you tell us a bit more about your musical background and experience?

V_I started music from an early age with classical clarinet and I remember loving instrument practice as much as I hated musical theory! I dropped it at age 11 or 12 and a year later I decided I wanted to learn guitar, but by myself this time (without the boring theory lessons). Around the same time, the dad of a childhood friend of mine got us into African drumming (djembe, dun-dun) and my love for more traditional world music really started then. I taught myself guitar for 6 years before learning Flamenco guitar from a great teacher in Paris for a year. I started singing and writing songs around that time (before then I only wrote long instrumental pieces for guitar) and when I was 20, I was lucky to join ATLA music school of Paris for a year, where I trained as a contemporary Jazz singer with the amazing Guillaume Coignard. I moved to London the following year and it took a while but I eventually put together my first band ‘Victor & The Rain Dog’. Starting as a three-piece with bass, drums and electric guitar, the band soon evolved into a five piece with added Cello and Orchestral percussion (vibraphone, timpani). The style was very much indie-rock, with strong ‘Latin’ influences and storytelling was a big part of our live show. We released a 5 track EP (‘Den Of The Dog’ which you can still find online here) before I decided to give the rain dog an early retirement, for personal reasons. I kicked off my solo project Victor Vox a few months later going back to basics with a more acoustic sound (double bass, acoustic guitar and drums). I am extremely lucky to play with two incredible, world-class musicians, Yaron Stavi and Adam Hayes.

C: How did the places where you lived impact your music?

V_I am not so sure. I wouldn’t think my music would be any different had I not left France, but I do find London to be much more conducive to creation. Paris is a very crowded city, flats are usually very small and cramped, streets narrow and buildings high. London in comparison is vast, less densely populated, buildings aren’t as high (which means more sky), parks are immense and plentiful, streets and pavements are wider, flats usually so too, and I generally find it a more peaceful, less aggressive city than its French counterpart. All this makes for a great creative environment, although to be fair, London can be pretty stressful too!

C: You covered the intro song from Jim Jarmush’s movie « Down by Law ». Would you say that beyond storytelling, your music and performance have a cinematic dimension? Is it something you are looking to develop in your musical identity?

V_It certainly is. I am very fond of character-driven songwriting and I like to approach the writing of a song like that of a short story. As I mentioned earlier, cinema is a major source of inspiration for me and some of my songs are actually tributes to my favourite movies, or genres. The idea for the closing track of our upcoming EP, ‘The Snatcher’, came from watching ‘Sugarland Express’ by Steven Spielberg, where a young unstable couple escapes from prison to stop their baby from being sent to a foster home. My song ‘Rosalyn’ is a sort of tribute to my favourite 1990s detective thrillers and ‘Sidewalk Empire’ is my take on the ‘lone wolf with a broken heart’ theme, so dear to American cinema.

C: Your father, Pierre Lemaitre, won in 2013 the prestigious Prix Goncourt for his novel Au Revoir là-haut (« The Great Swindle », translated by Frank Wynne and published by MacLehose Press)... a love of narrative runs in the family! Is there any advice he gave you as an author that you are putting into action as a musician?

V_My dad is very much a believer of the ‘1 percent inspiration, 99 percent perspiration’ motto. I definitely share that with him. 

C: If your music was a novel, what would be its title?

V_I wouldn’t know how to answer that but a good friend of mine (producer JB Pilon, at Buffalo Studios) recently described my sound as “What Jack Kerouac’s book should sound like if they were music”. Although, thinking of it now, as I like to blend different genres in my music, maybe Mary Shelley’s ‘Frankenstein’ would be right for it as the novel’s creature is a fabrication made up of different body parts! Not certain it is a very glamorous comparison though. 


C: Any favourite book to share with us?

V_I recently loved ‘The Buried Giant’ by British writer Kazuo Ishiguro. A beautiful fable set in the British dark ages about an elderly couple travelling the country on a hunt for forgotten memories. 


C: Your EP is coming out on vinyl this fall and will be available in a digital version from August 1. How would you describe it?

V_All songs were recording live at Eastcote studios. The idea was to start off with a debut EP that was 100 percent faithful to our live stage sound, so that people seeing us live and purchasing the album would get exactly what they signed up for. I am really happy and proud of the result and the Vinyl is gonna look stunning. I wanted it to look like an old classic Jazz record and I have to say, we pretty much nailed it! And great news is, the vinyls will be ready much earlier than I thought, with a delivery planned on 5th August. So don’t waste time and preorder your copy now!

Burna Boy The African Giant and Coachella

“@coachella I really appreciate you. But I don’t appreciate the way my name is written so small in your bill. I am an AFRICAN GIANT and will not be reduced to whatever that tiny writing means. Fix things quick please,” Burna Boy The African Giant posted on his Instagram Story.

Nigerian music stars Damini Ogulu who goes by the stage name, Burna Boy The African Giant and Tosin Ajibade, also known as Mr Eazi are set to have their first Coachella appearances in April.

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is a yearly music and arts festival sited at the Empire Polo club in Indio, California.

It is one of the globally known, and lucrative music festivals in the entire United States and the world at large.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that according to the listing publicized through Coachella’s official Instagram account @coachella, Burna Boy The African Giant will stage his act on April 13 and 20, Mr. Eazi will be performing on April 14 and 21.

The pair has, in the past year made progress and contributions in their music genres with Burna Boy The African Giant staging sold out shows and Mr. Eazi breaking previous streaming records.

Burna Boy’s ‘Ye’ is still one of the most listened-to Nigerian songs in 2018 and Mr. Eazi’s ‘Lagos to London’ EP had a global audience.

Reacting to the announcement, the ‘Ye’ crooner thanked the organisers of the globally known event for the recognition and also expressed his dissatisfaction with the font size of his name on the bill.

While expressing his rage through his Instagram handle in a post that he has deleted almost immediately after posting, he described himself as an “AFRICAN GIANT”, and called on Coachella to “fix things quick“.

His post made him the number one trend in Lagos state for with over 21.4k tweets.

After his reaction, Business Insider Sub Saharan African has juxtaposed the self-acclaimed “Oluwa Burna” to fellow Nigerian artist, Mr. Eazi as well as five other international Coachella acts who all have the same font size on the bill.

However, Burna Boy who was unarguably Nigeria’s act of 2018 did not hide his displeasure at the fact his name appears below artistes such as Pusha T and Gucci Gang and is written in small fonts to top it all.

K-DRAMAS I’VE WATCHED AND LIKED

So, I’ve been meaning to update this post for a while. But instead of listing my favorite kdramas, I’m going to (try to) list the kdramas I’ve watched since 2016 arranged by the date when i watched them.

I don’t think I’ve watched kdramas after high school and only started watching again in 2016 when I’m on my senior year in college. (i needed some stress relievers so..)

2016:

School 2015: Who Are You - one of my faves; reason why i got into OSTs; TaeBi forever okay! :(

Sassy Go Go / Cheer Up! - only 12 episodes but it’s a good one!

W: Two Worlds - lee jong suk!!; good at first but after the first half, i think it became nonsensical for me; first drama i watched ongoing

Moonlight Drawn By Clouds / Love in the Moonlight - also a fave; the lead couple is one of my otps they’re my babies nobody touch them

Moonlovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo - almost everyone’s fave; a very good one but it’ll hurt your heart; mine’s still hurting

Shopping King Louis - a very soft drama; nam ji hyun and seo in guk are sooooo cute; underrated

Oh My Geum Bi - another fave; if you don’t like sad dramas, don’t watch this; I WAS CRYING SINCE EP 4 UP TO THE LAST ONE

The Legend of the Blue Sea - a good one; except the part where she unnecessarily erased his memories at the last part lol

Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo - overrated but still a very good one; the lead couple is also a ship ugh i love them

Goblin / Guardian - also overrated but one of my faves; i love the cast so much ugh

Hwarang - park seo joon and park hyung sik, that’s it that’s the tweet

Another Oh Hae Young - has a slow start but starts getting good by ep 4 or 5; cant remember if i watched this in late 2016 or early 2017

Oh My Ghost - cant remember if i watched this in oct 2016 or oct 2017 god my memory’s so bad; park bo young’s acting here; also kim seul gi she’s so cute

2017: (this one i probably got the arrangement wrong lol)

To The Beautiful You - probably watched this after grad??; a good one; i like how the lead guy knew she was a girl earlier than in other kdramas where they reveal it to the lead at almost ending part

Uncontrollably Fond - another sad drama but it’s okay

Voice - first crime thriller kdrama i’ve watched i think; also a GOOD one

Emergency Couple - song ji hyo is funny here; also gary’s cameo omg my monday couple heart :(((

Strong Woman Do Bong Soon - cute lead omg; i want to keep park bo young in my pocket while watching this

Age of Youth / Hello, My Twenties - a very good kdrama; underrated tho; the girls’ friendship thoooo

Tunnel - another crime/thriller drama with concept of time travelling; i dont like time travelling shits but this one is okay

Signal - a VERY GOOD one; another crime/thriller drama; a must-watch

Suspicious Partner - ji chang wook omg also choi tae joon my gahd; legal/romcom drama

Fight My Way - oof the chemistry of the lead couple; park seo joon will make your heart flutter here again

One Percent of Something - uhm it’s okay i guess; it has a diff vibe from the kdramas i’ve listed; the lead couple has chemistry tho

School 2017 - i thought this one will be TaeBi 2.0 i’m glad it wasn’t; there was a topic in this drama that i relate to 100%, see my pinned tweet lmao

Healer - ji chang wook, again ugh he’s so good here; the last ep is rushed but the plot is good; also the chemistry oml

Because This Is My First Life - another fave; underrated; also a soft and light romcom

While You Were Sleeping - lee jong suk my gaaaddd; a bit of crime drama but this is so good ugh

It’s Okay, That’s Love - not sure when i watched this lmao; another good kdrama; watch this people

Cheese in the Trap - it’s a so-so; i got a bit second lead syndrome here

Hello, Monster / I Remember You - also not sure when i watched this; watched only because of park bo gum and seo in guk lol; the drama was okay, didn’t like the ending that much

2018:

A Love So Beautiful - not really korean but might as well put it here hehe; reminded me of Our Times (my fave movie!)

Live - crime drama but focuses on the life of patrol police; lee kwang soo!!

My Mister - fave, again; it’s just so good; a bit sad but i can relate at times; IU’s acting here is superb for me, she nailed it

Suits - a korean version; legal drama; didn’t watch the original so.. but it’s okay

Are You Human Too - i dont like robots but i watched this because of seo kang joon hehe; the drama is a good one for me

2019:

Innocent Defendant - i said before that this is one of my faves but i’m saying it again anyway; IT’S SO GOOD THAT’S WHY; makes you doubt the lead too

Touch Your Heart - grim reaper’s and sunny’s next life it’s canon now lol; a very lighthearted drama; a funny and romantic one; i want a kwon jung rok too :(

100 Days My Prince - watched because of do kyung soo since i’m an exo fan now hahaha; the drama is good tho; romcom they said, but not really; there’s still a lot of funny scenes tho; i want a wondeuk too :(

Arthdal Chronicles - a fresh and different drama; only watched because of jisoo but its actually a good drama; i hope they push the season 2 through because the ending is just not it

Hotel Del Luna - another IU drama that is tear-jerker; loooove the side stories of the guests and our hotel crew; ready ur tissues if you plan on watching this

That’s it, I guess. Pretty sure I missed some especially the ones i wasn’t able to download. Also, did not include the dramas I stopped watching. Going to add more under 2019 since it’s only april.

My Favorite Korean Dramas (so far)

Princess Hours

This is one of my favorites because this is the first Korean I’ve watched. Also, because of the love story and it’s about royalties.

My Girl

Because it has also a comedy part and I love how they’d end up to be together. :)

Boys Over Flowers

Who wouldn’t love this? I mean, almost all of the people love this. Sobrang nakakakilig and the story plot is so great! :“>

My Girlfriend Is a Gumiho

One of the best! I love how Miho love Dae-Wong all of her heart. I also love how Dae-Wong protected Miho and that makes it more interesting. :”“>

49 Days/ Pure Love

I love the twist of this story. I never expect that the two main characters are siblings. It talks about that we should just enjoy life and do whatever we wanted to do since we only live once.

Dream High

I also love the story plot of this K-Drama. But I'm disappointed in the ending that Hye Mi and Jin Guk didn’t end up together. They’re one of my favorite couples here. The other one is the Milky Couple (Pil Suk and Jason). That’s why I’m also happy in the ending that the two of them ended up together. :”>

After 24 hours (2/5/17 3:22pm EST), we got a total of 2606 responses! Thank you so much to those of you who answered right away! If you haven’t taken the poll yet, don’t worry, it’s still open!

That being said, it’s a lot of data to go through alone, so in 4 hours I was only able to generate these 7 charts. I am working on putting together some box/whisker plots for the quantitative data, but here’s a rundown of the averages:

The average TJLCer is 21.38 years old.

The average TJLCer has been a fan of Sherlock Holmes for 6.49 years.

The average TJLCer has been a fan of BBC Sherlock for 3.83 years.

The average TJLCer has been a part of TJLC for 1.75 years.

The average rating for TJLC is 8.35/10.

I interpreted a lot of the responses I got for the pie chart data in my own way, omitting a lot of varied responses that didn’t fit into a category, and or were a slight variation on a category - I apologize to those minorities I had to shoe-horn into other identities for the sake of simplicity.

For Pronouns, 327 people indicated that they identified with more than one, so there is some overlap in the chart. Here are the responses I got that I organised into the “Other” category:

For Gender, I got a lot of responses for identities that I did not originally include as categories, so I decided to give them their own categories! No overlaps there, but any answers I got similar to “female” or “im a girl” were omitted since I could not determine cis/trans.

For Sexuality, 158 people indicated that they identified with more than one, so there is some overlap in the chart. I had to do a lot of interpreting with this, so if you said something like “straight-ish”, I put you under “Straight” and “Questioning”. As stated in the poll, prefixes are indicative of both sexual and romantic orientations. A lot of people answered with “demisexual/romantic”, which I included under Ace-spec.

I got a lot of varied data for how long people have been fans, so I converted all the data in terms of years: 11 months, 12 months, 1/13 months all got rounded to the nearest whole year; 2 months, 3 months, and 4 months got rounded to X.25 years; 5 months, 6 months, and 7 months got rounded to X.5 years; 8 months, 9 months, and 10 months got rounded to X.75 years. All data that was less than 1 month (aka all the TJLC newbies) were included in the “0.25 years” category. I also got a lot of responses saying “X+ years”, so I rounded down and specified in the charts that all values are at least X years. I omitted all responses for BBC Sherlock that were more than 7 years, and for everyone who answered more than 3 years for TJLC were included in the “longer” category (they would have otherwise been omitted as well).

There is a LOT of data to go through, so if you would like to see a specific correlation, please let me know! (ex. Fave episode vs. Rating, or Age vs. Fave Holmes) In order to not waste literally my entire life on this, I will only generate charts and release data for what you ask me for - so if you want it, ask for it! The survey will remain open for as long as we need it to be, so if you’re still asking for charts and data 3 months from now, so be it!
