So I know I have the worst W: Two Worlds brainrot out there, but while I was watching Lovely Runner for the very first time in a binge-marathon over the course of yesterday and today, I couldn’t help but notice some parallels between the two shows.

Very specifically I want to highlight this scene from episode 14 of Lovely Runner between Ryu Sun-jae and Im Sol:

And this scene from episode 11 of W between Kang Cheol and Oh Yeon-joo:

I’m sure I’m not the only one, or probably even the first, but I had to mention it because the parallels between the two were so incredibly strong to me.

Just two men, sitting or standing in front of a woman after reading a piece of “fiction” about timelines that no longer exist as they confront them about the ending and asking if the memory loss is permanent because they really want to see there be a happy ending.

These men would also very much like to get back to their respective romances, thank you 😂

I’m on ep. 12 of W: Two Worlds, and the main characters’ relationship timeline is like:

Strangers to enemies to acquaintances to spouses to strangers to enemies to bf&gf…

I’m at the scene where Kang Chul suggests going on a date and taking things slow. And I’m like ‘oh boy, it’s the right thing to do, but it sounds ridiculous at this point’. Also, five minutes ago he asked her to strip naked.

“Let’s go with the flow” -> “Where are my five kisses?”

I do remember people comparing Lovely Runner to this show, and I absolutely get it now.

Anyway, god bless this drama, it’s a wild ride and it’s so entertaining!

Watching through W: Two Worlds and in episode 5, I am in awe of Lee Jong Suk's acting. Like, I've always known he was good, but he spends like a full minute expressing the most intense pain and sadness through this monologue, and he is amazing. Holy shit. The pacing, the expressions, the tone, everything about it was amazing.
