It may be an unpopular opinion, but I've re-read the whole ACOTAR series quite recently and I've been thinking about Elriel/Elucien/Gwynriel/Azris situation even more than I already have.
And you know what?
Despite being a hardcore Elriel, Sarah could possibly maybe somehow sell Elucien to me. Maaaybeee. Yet, it would have to be a full Elain story with a little sprinkle of Lulu, not the other way around - Lucien on a mission to find out about his parentage and heal his daddy issues while Elain braids Vassa's and Jurian's hair or picks flowers around her old fiancé mansion is absolutely dumb & unacceptable (lord have mercy upon anyone wishing Elain to move in with BoE who literally live on Graysen's lands, are you okay? like genuinely okay? why do you hate Elain so much? why do you want her to suffer even more than she already has? what is wrong with you? please, find god in your hearts). But then, Elain and Lucien exploring their powers together - her seer & cauldron given powers and his possible course breaker powers if he inherited any from Helion (and I firmly believe he did, that's why they are related - so Lucien could be involved in breaking Vassa's course) could be potentially interesting if they - maybe! - turned out to be carranam as well.
Again, they are not my favourite pairing and I still choose Elriel over Elucien any time (I also believe it is going to be Elriel, not Elucien because come on, it's obvious) but eventually, with a good storytelling & well written romance, I could accept it and even enjoy their book.
But then, we move to Gwynriel and I'm sorry - I tried so hard to see at least a glimpse of what Gwynriels are seeing. At least a tiny "spark" (hehe). Anything that would make me think "oh yes, they could maybe have something interesting to explore as a couple too". But... no. Gwyn is a compelling character on her own to me because honestly, I'm a sucker for her possible (hopefully non-evil) lightsinger powers. But even with having them, I don't see her as a main character at all. She makes a great side character tho and may continue to do so freely. I can see both her & Emerie rather as Asterins to Nesta's Manon. And lastly, her chemistry with Azriel doesn't exist in my eyes. I honestly cannot picture their romantic story, no matter how hard I try. Even Feyre and Lucien had more chemistry than these two. How do you even genuinely expect this plot to unfold? Gwyn could be only connected to Koshchei if he was somehow manipulating her or working with her and since we don't want that (or do we?), she has no connection to the next big bad guy nor to the Illyrian plotline nor to the whole "let's unalive Beron & make Eris the next High Lord" nor possible Tamlin redemption arc, she is not made therefore well... Again, great side character, no main material, chemistry with Az is dryer than the desert and that's that.
And what can I say about Azris? It's a crackship for sure, but is it a hot, enemies-to-lovers crackship I could read about? Yes. Absolutely. But Sarah does not have the guts to do it and I think we're all well aware of this fact.
So anyway, Elriel for life guys, let's hope for a announcement soon✌🏻🌸🦇🗡️

I've been seeing a lot of hate for dragons rising and the later seasons of ninjago and I have my thoughts. As usual. Im a very thought filled person. So I'm gonna tell you all my very correct and right opinion on the matter. Also it's very long be warned now 🧙‍♂️ (little recap at the very end in case you dont wanna read the whole thingg)
The later seasons of Lego ninjago and the entirety of Dragons Rising is not bad. It's just different.
The first season of lego ninjago came out in 2011.
The expectations for a kids show in 2011 are different than the expectations in 2024. The humor kids like is going to change naturally over the years. The tropes in media that kids like is going to change over the years.
We were the target audience when the show first came out, because we were kids. It's a show aimed for a younger audience. Unfortunately, the intended audience did not change as we got older. The show is still aimed at a younger audience, but guess what? There's new kids. The age range is filled with new people. And to still have their target audience hit, they are obviously going to have to change a few things so the kids nowadays will want to watch the show.
The original seasons had more focus on the character vs character conflics. Of course it dabbled in characters having internal struggles and side plots related to building/destroying relationships, but those were more episode specific and he newer seasons just delve more into it for multiple episodes. There was a focus on the fighting, on the action, on the cool outfits and mech armor. The new seasons are still fighting bad guys, with all of the cool effects, but also fighting feelings. You can do both at once. Shocker, I know. Why is there more focus on emotions? Because that's the standard in well written shows these days.
The humor is less characters making fun of eachother, and more a dead silence filled with a silly sound effect. This is one of the things that irked me, but it's okay. My humor is not the humor of the intended audience. The space is intended for the audience to have the audible laughter/reaction. Quick reminder who the show is intended for. (I hold up a sign saying "new generation of young people with different humor then people my age".)
The characters are not annoying. The characters are not weak, or pitiful, or embarrassing. A character having emotions other than love or anger or happiness is okay. Arin not feeling worthy enough for his team? Guess what? That's an emotion lots of people feel. This character is allowed to have self doubt. Lloyd having panic attacks from his visions? Hey, his visions scared him! Characters are allowed to be scared, and have a reaction to being scared.
Characters are allowed to be replaced. I know, I loved the original elemental masters, and wish they could come back for a cameo now and then. Would love to see Griffin Turner once and a while. But you have to remember in the canon, it's been years. Time passes. Wanna know what happens when time passes? People die, people move on, people come into others lives. The new elemental master of air is fine. She's allowed to exist. Do you honestly expect Morro to show back up and be like "omg hiii >< I'm here I want my power back !!" Be honest with yourselves.
Final thought: who cares if characters are gay. A background character wears a nonbinary flag on their jacket?!?!?!? It must be armageddon!! Come on now. One or two flags in the background isn't the end of the world. Cole and Geo's relationship has no effect on the main plot. Geo could be replaced by any character, or even removed, and the plot would still go forward. Gay people aren't out to get you, or turn your show woke, or indoctrinate your kids. They're just there. Cole is still Cole, and Geo is cool. Another thing about Geo: I will not take Geo slander from lava shippers. He is very sweet and kind and just because Cole is not with Kai doesn't mean yall should hate on him. Also I don't even think Cole and Geo are 100% confirmed. So why is everyone going bananas over it? Very silly behavior if you ask me.
That's all I have to say thank you for coming to my tedtalk 🧙‍♂️
Recap: the target audience is young people, young people are different now then when we were young, they have different humor, it's fine for characters to be emotional, new characters aren't the end of the world, gay people are fine.

How would you rank the more major AC6 characters based on how much you like them?
hmmmmm i had to think about this a LOT since I love everyone..
All of them are so well written, even the minor characters imo
But when it comes to major characters.. hm
Not even sure honestly
Though, my opinions contain [spoilers] from the game!!
I'm a dirty Iguazu lover. He's such a great character holy hell. He may be a pathetic pos but he's relatable. He's so fueled with spite and hatred that he doesn't realise how powerful he actually is. He's a great pilot, but his inferiority complex and envy is what takes him down. Something that anyone could experience at one point in life. He's realistic, with flaws and all. He's not perfect and that's why I love him the most. A tragic character, but in his final moments he spills his true feelings of envy towards you, and honestly this made him grow on my heart.
Classically, I love Rusty. He's the total opposite of Iguazu. He seems chill and all. [Spoiler] But hell he's a great spy. In the mission when you had to collect data about him and you find out he's a RLF spy that gets in that situation where he has to eliminate his own people.. It broke my heart, but hell it's respectable. He's doing his best, but I'm sure his heart is heavy, doing these sacrifices for the greater good. He's skeptical of you too, which also is why I love him. He doesn't trust you easily, and thinks that you're still a threat because nobody knows what's your next move. One day you may help someone, while the other day you could backstab only for money. But later, in the Liberation ending.. he finally trusts you, since you have the same goals.. and he remains your buddy. When you have the Fires of Raven route, the fight made me cry. It felt heavy to fight him, even in that moment he doesn't want to kill you, even if he must. It could have ended differently. Somehow he still had trust in you, and probably he feels bad that even you, like the corps, are a threat to Rubicon. He's a true guy and sacrifices to save the many, yet his end is tragic.
I adore Ayre too. She's intelligent and supportive, but I hate how mischaracterized she is by the fandom. I consider her a total girlboss, but so kind and supportive. Someone you can call a friend in this miserable world. Of course, at first she seemed a bit cold to me since, as anyone, she barely made contact with you, yet still helps you in anyway she can later on. She knows about Rubicon, but her flaw is that she's naive. I like that about her. In the Fires of Raven, when you both fight, she still has that hope that you'll change your mind about your choice and the idea to walk together. The feels man..
Walter is also such a great character, though cold and hides a lot of stuff from you, still cares about you, yet hides it. This caring shows a lot when you finally fight him in the Liberation ending, even if brainwashed, he realises that your actions are also driven by your own friend's wishes.. He also hides his own feelings towards others too, like when you accept to kill Michigan. Michigan may be in good terms with him, but doesn't stop you either way, yet has this hidden grief in his words that hides it with "this is just a job". He tries to be cold, but this demeanor slightly cracks in certain situations.
A honorable mention is Snail. I love to HATE him. Like, he's such a corporate scum of a human being that you love to hate him from that. Egoistic bastard that sacrifices for HIS own benefit. It's a typical villain that's just pure evil that's backstabbing his own people. I love it, I love this character type. He doesn't have any good things other than his strategy methods, but he's dirty and uses others. Yet, people like this exists in real life too.
I could yap about all of the characters all day, since I love ALL of them. They are so unique in their own ways and the cherry on top is that they are so realistic personality-wise. I played AC6 for big robots and stayed for these peak characters!

I did one of these for fun, and because I thought it would be fun to breakdown the way I like to look at characters! I would love to see everyone else’s thoughts and tier lists! All of my opinions could change with time as the stories progress.
Explanations of the tiers below if ur interested—these are really just personal opinions and have nothing to do with any sort of actual critique. More ranty than usual near the end:
S tier: these are characters that I think have a lot of potential, and could have been a LOT more interesting and engaging to me personally if they were written well and had better characterization + I like their designs more than the rest, or I think they’re actually funny. Most of them are women characters with designs I really like that I think deserve SO much more than what the writings given to them. Plus mammon b/c he’s genuinely funny to me, I like his voice, and i think he’s attractive.
A tier: Same as the above, but I’m just not quite as interested in them and their storylines as S tier. Most of the A tiers are characters that I vibe with but still have problems with their character designs (Ozzie, Fizz, and Bee are the biggest ones). Still made me laugh or are silly, but not quite as much as the S tiers either.
B tier: Characters that I like okay enough, but are really just too bland for me. I don’t think they’re necessarily bad characters, but they’re just very cookie cutter to me. They’d have to have a LOT more personality for me to like them more. I like their designs, but they still have issues—Husk is in here pretty much just b/c I love Keith David, and think he did such a good job with him that it made me like him more.
C tier: These guys are the ones that kind of annoy me. They’re sort of nothing characters that feel more like plot devices, and we dont know enough about them for them to be really interesting, they just sort of exist. Moxxie is there because I’m so tired of him. He hasn’t done anything bad but like. I’m tired of him constantly getting punched down on and being given SO much focus over Millie.
D tier: these guys straight up just annoy the hell out of me. As characters they seem to exist either just to be as annoying and edgy as possible, or they’re so poorly written that probably no amount of potential can make me interested in them. They seem like they’re either around as creator’s pets or excuses to say sexist and fatphobic shit. Loona is there specifically b/c she’s so constantly mean to other characters that it’s frustratingly boring. Beginning to wonder if the writers think that if you have any sort of trauma or difficulties in your past that it means you can just be horrible to everyone around you. People use these characters backstories to explain their inconsistent characterization as if their backstories weren’t also just. Writing decisions. Angel Dust’s series voice direction was terrible he sounds really nasally and whiny to me and I hate that they wrote him to just sexually harass everyone.
F tier: I hate these guys. They are so annoying to me. There is next to nothing charming about them. Two of them are literally rapists that the fandom insists on either weirdly babying or acting like they’re some funny slapstick character. When like. They’re rapists yall. Andraelphus literally just exists to be the replacement male villain to stella, Alastor is one of the absolutely worst character designs and characterizations I’ve ever seen, and crim and Chaz…idk I just don’t like em.
Zestial (Who???) tier: imma be real zestial didn’t do anything wrong. He just. He’s just a cardboard cut out. I know who he is but he literally does nothing and serves no purpose AT ALL other than to give James Monroe Igleheart a role in Hazbin. Which like. Good for James. He’s probably the most talented singer in the whole cast, and he’s a fantastic actor. There’s a reason that his other two characters, Ozzie and Vortex are in A tier. But damn Zestial is just such a nothing boring character that I literally was like “what character is that????” for a sec when making this. Sorry Zestial. You’re not actually below F tier youre just. In the void of TRULY pointless characters. Sorry :(

Earthspark S3 synopsis spoilers!!
Rotten Tomatoes leaked the titles and synopsizes for episodes 2-7 of Season 3 and I have opinions.
First of all, I JINXED IT??? Yesterday I was literally writing a post complaining about how little info we got about S3 compared to the other seasons before their release. I was nearly done it but got lazy and I saved it as a draft to finish later, cue 1 AM at night when I decide to check again Rotten Tomatoes for any updates, AND THERE WERE NEW EPISODES?? I just manifested them into existence with the power of hyperfixation I guess. So, you're welcome guys. (Although it is pretty cool that I discovered it myself because that usually doesn't happen to me since I don't use Reddit or Discord, it also signifies that the mainstream Transformers fandom doesn't really seem to care about Earthspark that much anymore considering the fact they aren't interested on reporting on new leaks. And that sucks, but I can't exactly blame them.)
But also you're not welcome because wtf are these synopsizes. I'm trying my best to be positive and stuff, and I know we should probably wait for the episodes to come out before we judge too hard, but these descriptions are definitely raising some red flags. There only seems to be 7 episodes which is very disappointing and doesn't seem like enough time to wrap up all the plot points from S2, plus the new S3 plot points they are introducing. Not to mention that there seems to be one or two filler episodes, which doesn't seem like a lot for most shows but it matters when you have such limited time. Filler can be good when it is well-written, helps develop the characters, and doesn't take time away from the rest of the plot. S1 filler was enjoyable because it had these qualities, but S2 filler however....... I don't think so. Not only is the writing just plain bad, but the writers almost seem adverse to developing their characters because they don't want to break their 'good guys good/bad guys bad' formula and need everything to reset to the status quo by the end of the episode, rendering the filler basically pointless. (See, the end of Togetherness) So not only is the filler getting in the way of the plot, but I'm not entirely sure it'll even be enjoyable.
I don't know if we are going to be getting more episodes after this. Some say we are going to get more batches, some say we are going to get longer specials instead, and some say Earthspark is cancelled and won't be getting any continuation. I think we probably will get some sort of finale, but either way, now is not the time for the writers to start messing around. There are plenty plot points from S2 that need to be wrapped up (The Decepticons, Terrantronus, The Chaos Terrans, The Quintessions) and yet they are already adding some more plot points for S3. The descriptions don't really mention any of the S2 plot points, and obviously we should wait till the episodes actually release to see if they do, but I'm still a bit skeptical. But these S3 plot points do seem interesting so lets talk about them.
IZZY'S EVIL?? Or a shapeshifter Quintession thing?? I'm gonna be real I did not see that coming and I don't really know how to feel. It's more interesting than her just being a designated crush character but I'm still just not really invested enough in her and Robby's relationship to care. I wonder if she's actually a shapeshifting Quintession or just a human working for the Quintession's? (I'm sorta hoping for the first thing tbh since we don't need more human screentime) I also wonder if she'll just be pure evil or if she'll be redeemed by the power of straight people or something. Imagine if some random girl gets redeemed but not any of the Decepticons, that'd be really funny.
There's this new plot point called 'The Hate Plague' which seems to be some sort of disease that drives bots into a rage. It pops up after EP4, right after The Autobot Ship (probably containing Prowl) crash lands. My guess is that the disease stems from Prowl's ship, and also probably has something to do with the Quintession's big plan. That either means the ship had a Quintession stowaway or some other substance that the Quintession's planted there that somehow caused the disease. There is also the possibility that it has something to do with The Chaos Energy from the Chaos Terrans since they are associated with rage?? But we'll have to see. I think the plot will follow The Autobots slowly being taken over by the disease, making them dangerous to the Maltos, leaving them all by themself to find someway to reverse it's affects and bring them back while also fighting the enemy that wants to take Robby and Mo's power for their own- wait a sec HAVEN'T WE DONE THIS BEFORE?? Isn't just the GHOST mind control all over again??? Sure, the Hate Plague makes them more enraged whilst the Mind Control made them emotionless, but it will still lead to them fighting against the Maltos right? It just feels way too similar. And the lines "she (Twitch) realizes she may be the only one who can help" and "Prowl recruits Thrash and Robby to investigate the source of the mysterious Hate Plague" sort of implies The Terran's can't be infected? Which seems worse since it means the Terrans won't benefit by whatever potential character development the Hate Plague could bring. But I don't want to jump to conclusions. I think it would be more interesting if the 'Hate Plague' didn't just make the bots mindless enraged savages, but instead actually make them more hateful. The plague clouds their view and makes them see the negative in everything, but they still retain their cognitive abilities, specifically the ability to talk. This could lead to interesting character dynamics being challenged since everyone would be arguing with each other and their previously-hidden opinions would come to light. This would still install conflict in the Autobot base but it wouldn't make them just mindless enemies and could actually lead to really interesting dialogue and situations. Think of The Spell of Shattered Sight from Once Upon a Time. It would put the Autobots out of commission and they wouldn't be able to help the Terrans but it wouldn't lead to them mindlessly attacking them without a reason, so it wouldn't be too similar to the GHOST mind control. But I'm not sure if they'll go for this angle since the S2 writers don't seem to be a fan of 'complicated characters' and exposing some of the flaws of the Autobots via The Hate Plague would destroy their 'good guys good/bad guys bad' narrative. It's easier to just turn The Autobots into mindless monsters to fight the Terrans for awhile. It'll also probably lead to some "i know your still in there 🥺" fights, which may be good character development if they are written well but they will probably end up being really corny. Like I said, we've done this all before.
Tumblr media
No mention of The Chaos Terrans guys. I'm not doing well. We don't have the synposis for EP1 which would be the one they are most likely to be mentioned in, but the fact that they are not even alluded to in the other descriptions has me worried. I don't care if they stay pure evil, I also don't care if they speedrun a poorly written redemption arc, I JUST WANT THEM TO BE ALIVE 😭😭 (istfg if they try to redeem Starscream after what he did......)
The episode I'm most excited for is probably EP4. The plot of going into the Decepticon base and "friendships being tested" might mean we'll be getting some character development between The Autobots and/or The Decepticons? I have a soft spot for snow day episodes, so I'll probably enjoy EP 5 as well. The description of EP6 sort of made it seem like they would go on a full on investigation, so I think it would be funny if it was styled like a Noir Dectective film lmao (idk Prowl's character that well, is that something he would do?)
Either way, I will stay cautiously optimistic and be on the lookout for anymore leaks!

Nia in my opinion is kind of the opposite of messy? Sure she’s unapologetic, but it doesn’t come across as malicious unless you give her a reason? She just kind of seems like the kind of person who measures things in terms of efficiency and her own desire for it.
I don’t think that’s messy or even necessarily bad/mean/assholish?
In some ways she’s very blunt and in others she’s got more tact or subtly, and it’s quite literally because she’s whatever she has to be to get the results she wants. And she’s gonna do it without sucking up. Like Crown is an unreliable narrator, in fact if you think about it, every pov to ever exist is unreliable.
Nia is going to have different goals, priorities, morals, and fears. Which means every situation is going to be interpreted differently than MCs.
I think a lot of the criticism that Nia gets, stems from outdated ideas of how afab people should be.
Like because she’s a girl she’s supposed to come pre-installed with beaten down fifties housewife programming? That’s not to say career women and housewives are completely different species. It’s to say that people will be who they are or who they want to be regardless of whether or not it fits your idea of how it should be. And no one has clean cut emotions perfectly labeled at all times. Emotions are complex and quite frankly, she has amazing control over herself, especially when you take into consideration that she’s nineteen and has been aware of the fact that she’s been in danger of getting murdered for years now (not even taking into consideration that she thinks it could be her best friend that she may or may not potentially have feelings for, realizing it’s not them, or at least not just them. So now she may be wrong, and she took what essentially amounted to unnecessary precautions maybe but now you want her to feel sorry that she was trying to ensure her own survival? Come on now, be realistic). Oh, and the fact that her only parental figure is a workaholic that is way too obsessed with image. All things considered she turned out great.
And while it wouldn’t be the first word I’d use, when you take into consideration her behavior in general, she is unbelievably soft to MC sometimes in this time of frustration and conflicting emotions. Even verbally sparring, it’s not the same vibe as when she doesn’t like someone. Or even Imre. Like, even as he gets friend treatment and MC gets ignored, or whatever else people are complaining about, the way she’s written still gives the implication that MC is special, a special case, special to her, there’s this effort that seems to come across very well in the way she interacts with MC (effort to ignore, to push away, to not fall into old habits) that is not there for any of her interactions with any other character.
So yeah. I wrote this big long paragraph to essentially say: I wish people would get off Nia’s dick, like her, don’t like her, but Jesu fucking Cristo, can we stop acting like she’s the most unhinged, alien, indecipherable, devil woman to ever exist? She’s not even the biggest red flag in this game.
“Or even Imre. Like, even as he gets friend treatment and MC gets ignored, or whatever else people are complaining about, the way she’s written still gives the implication that MC is special, a special case, special to her, there’s this effort that seems to come across very well in the way she interacts with MC (effort to ignore, to push away, to not fall into old habits) that is not there for any of her interactions with any other character.”
This part though this why I love when you guys give me your own interpretation of characters because it makes me see things I haven’t before. She does make an effort to ignore, to push away, things that are hurtful but the key point is that ironically enough she makes more of an effort with Crowny than with anyone else even if it’s not a positive thing she’s doing. Kind of like that saying the opposite of hate is indifference. She’s trying so hard to be indifferent and that is contradictory because the whole point of indifference is that you don’t try you just are
I do think most people’s initial gut reaction has mellowed. Because it used to be that they saw that Crowny said Nia left them and they would refuse to listen to anything beyond that and just tell me how she was the devil incarnate. Now it’s more that the people who don’t like her at least can see why she believed she had to do this even if they still are angry about the abandonment which is great cause frankly I’ve explained all I could as it did feel at times that people wanted me to validate their hate for Nia by saying something that would make her seem worse and when I didn’t, it’s a whole thing. Like really you don’t need my validation to hate a character and I’m my side I’m not going to say something just to please

hello hello!! its time for the doctor who rankings again, today it's time for series 8!! really like this series guys not gonna lie :D again, these are my opinions and also just. mostly for my benefit but i post them here in case someone else is interested in my thoughts???
1. Listen (8x4) - oh how i love this episode guys, i love the opening already, peter capaldi was MADE for stuff like this, i think. i like the idea of a creature that has perfected hiding, i think that's interesting, and i love the ending with clara talking to the doctor as a kid, i love how we kinda still left it ambiguous whether this creature exists or not (i think it does, the creature that was on danny's bed didn't look like a human, even though we didn't see it clearly, but it's not 100% sure this creature is actually real). always love it when doctor who goes horror
2. Mummy on the Orient Express (8x8) - SO good, love this episode, i love the mystery of the mummy and i think a morally grey doctor was written well in this, i liked perkins a lot and kinda wished he had become a companion, and i liked the story. also the "are you my mummy" heritage still going strong lmao
3. Flatline (8x9) - SO GOOD!! i love the idea of creatures that are in 2D that's interesting, i like clara and there are so many hilarious things in this, personally i died permanently when clara just pulled the hammer from the bag and went "apparently they're in the walls", it was so funny to me lol, yeah, brilliant i think
4. Deep Breath (8x1) - does the beginning with clara feel a bit weird considering she has literally seen every regeneration of the doctor's and knows how it works? yeah. but i get where they're going with it and why it is there, because the audience has just lost the previous doctor, who is this new guy here why is he so different, how can he suddenly be so old?? the kids who might have started watching with matt smith might say, and i get that clara is now acting as the audience, i don't mind it. and i like the scene with vastra and clara. and the second half of the episode is brilliant, i love clara with the robot. guys. i don't remember if they had a name sorry guys lol. but she was great. i really think she's so much better in this series than in series 7. and this episode also has some really funny moments, i had so much fun following the doctor's adventures, and i love jenny, vastra and strax as people might notice from the previous posts. i LOVE them. miss them every day i want them back i hate that this is their last appearance on tv :( but yeah, a great introduction to the new doctor, dare i even say better than the eleventh hour are we ready for that conversation??
5. Dark Water/Death in Heaven (8x11/8x12) - always love meeting kate even if she's in a small role, live laugh love kate lethbridge-stewart if she got no fans i'm dead. anyway, i like finally meeting missy properly, she's great and i enjoyed the doctor and her together. i think the cliffhanger is good and i personally am a danny pink defender, i was sad that he died, he wasn't my favourite character but i didn't hate him like most people seem to do lol. i also think the cybermen are alright and the nod to the brigadier and the doctor saluting him is really nice i think
6. Time Heist (8x5) - it's a nice story, i like the concept and the teller is an interesting creature in my opinion, i like the time travel heist stuff and i like psi and saibra, i think it's great and seems a bit underappreciated in the fandom? or have i just not seen people talk about it? i don't know
7. Robot of Sherwood (8x3) - this was actually pretty good fun, i laughed so many times watching this, and even though the story isn't the best in my opinion, i think this is still very fun and enjoyable and i had a great time watching it. robin hood and the doctor's dynamic was actually pretty hilarious
8. The Caretaker (8x6) - i must say, this made me laugh a few times, i think it's fun, and i like clara and danny's relationship stuff here, i think the dynamic between the doctor and danny is interesting, but the story itself isn't the best and i don't think it's anything special
9. Into the Dalek (8x2) - now i get what this story is going for and how we start exploring the question of whether the doctor is a good man or not is great, i like that theme, and i personally like that last excange with the doctor and the dalek, how the doctor says that hatred isn't victory and the double meaning of "a good dalek". but even though steven moffat is 100% one of my favourite doctor who writers, something i must say that he doesn't get right are the daleks, i don't think he gets them. i think he sees them just plainly as evil angry tanks, which they're not, yes they're obviously evil, but they do have sort of personality, they're occasionally sassy and think themselves to be cleverer than they are, and i don't think moffat gets their characterisation right
10. In the Forest of the Night (8x10) - i don't hate it but it's not good either. it's pretty boring because our characters are just randomly running around a forest, which i do think can be done well, but this wasn't. i found clara and danny's relationship stuff to be okay and i think it was so sweet the kids shipped them lol, and i do think that the fact that this had so much of them being kinda happy makes danny's death in the next episode more sad. and i did 100% pick up on the message about protecting trees, which is indeed important, and i liked that the trees were protecting the earth and that children made the message to everyone like young people do today with the climate change, i think that's something that's good about this story.
11. Kill the Moon (8x7) - i don't completely hate it, it's got a few kinda funny lines and i think it did the morally grey doctor thing well, and i love the ending with clara. but the anti-abortion message is not it, and you know i'm giving the writer the benefit of the doubt, because i can 100% see an another way to interpret the story, that humans want to destroy things that they don't know about and we should instead give them a chance because it could be a good thing, but the way some things are worded in the story are just giving anti-abortion message. and i personally wasn't a fan of the random astronaut and the story as a whole just wasn't for me. though i think the morally grey doctor is done well, it feels kinda weird that he just. disappears mid story, i don't know, but yeah, not a fan
there we are, i liked this series, lots of great episodes i think, and peter capaldi is fantastic of course :D

❤🧡💛💚💙💜🤍🖤💖💔💕📖🏳️‍🌈🏳️💀
hi cas. pls answer my questions
To preface this I have only been on the outskirts of this fandom for a hot minute but because you asked me so nicely to reblog this I will give my two cents
❤ mischaracterized by the fandom
I'd I had to say that anyone was most mischaracterized it would have to be hm. Dame Alina. They hate to see a woman winning. She's very much written to seem like a bee eye tee see ach but like. If my boyfriend dumped me for a girl 100 years younger then me I'd be pissed too.
🧡 popular theory I disagree with
I don't actually know any current theories you'd have to send me some and I'll see if I agree with them
💛 popular ship I can't get behind
I've seen a large amount of Fitz and Marella shippers right now (lavacake?) And you know I respect the hustle but they're gay girlbesties to me I just can't see them dating. Otherwise I was literally the pioneer of every poly ship ever back in the early days. Multishipper Supreme
💚 what does everyone else get wrong abt your fave character
That Fitz is well adjusted. Or that his attitude problems somehow manifested out of nowhere and he was definitely not affected by his tumultuous childhood and borderline abuse but you didn't hear that from me
I would need to take a deeper look but if it's anything like it used to be probably everything the fandom thinks abt dex.
💙 - not as hot as everyone thinks
I would have to say uhmmmmmm kenric (pun not intended) I never vibed with him
💜 - hotter then everyone thinks
Bronte. He could get it
🤍 - not as morally bad
This is a difficult thing I would have to say uh. Idk do Sophie antis still exist? She can do whatever she wants forever. Fitz and probably Linh as well based on how she acted in the last book. Alina also since I said that before
🖤 - more morally bad
Literally every adult that isn't Grady, Edaline, Juline, Kesler and Della
💖 - unpopular opinion
Apparently thinking Alden is a bad father is unpopular atm so there's that. Also disliking forkle maybe he's always given me rancid vibes. Also I would like to say i think alden being a bad or not great guy would be a fantastic writing decisions
💔 main character you would remove
Lol. Forkle. Either one of them. Or both
💕unpopular ship you like
Is there such thing as an unpopular ship? I was pretty sure we were a great multishipping fandom. I like sofitz! And Fitz and Linh
📖 book you would take away
This new one that's coming out lol. I really don't care abt whatever Keefe got up to
🏳️‍🌈 fandom thinks they're queer but you don't see it
It's impossible for me to not see the possibility of queerness in everyone
💀 who should die
I'd say forkle but he's technically dead. I also don't want alden dead because I think the story would be really cool if she leaned into him being a bit nefarious. Lady Gisela probably cuz like. Idk how she keeps surviving this shit. Mostly for the dead to stay dead this isnt supernatural
Welcome to discussion abt any of this but BE NICE it's a book series. I respect your opinions, please respect mine

The problem with Disney right now...
I know I usually state my opinion on movies I see recently and give reviews but sometimes I give my opinion on movies that are going to come out soon. So, I heard about the unnecessary sequels for Moana and Inside Out, which are great movies but they don't need sequels. In all honesty, after seeing what they did with Wish, I think Disney should take a break on making animated movies for a while! Not forever, just for a short time.
Okay, so I think we all can tell that they used A.I on Wish. It's not the animation and stuff, it's just the story! I even think the songs were written by real people, it's purely the story that feels A.I generated. Watch them use A.I on Moana 2, Inside Out 2, and Frozen 3... oh gosh that would break my heart to se them ruin the sequels with A.I. I don't consider myself a Disney fan, in fact, even as a kid I wasn't a Disney-movie kid, but I did have a Frozen phase back in the day. Every kid had a Frozen phase. Inside Out is okay but it was kind of emotional, but the first Moana was really good. The thing is, Frozen is based off the Snow Queen while Moana and Inside Out aren't based off any fairytales and are Disney's own original ideas for once. Plus, I think they're only making these sequels because their original ideas like StrangeWorld and Wish are failing so they're proffiting off live action remakes and making sequels of already existing characters because they're desperate. They're just so greedy and can't stand to see the competitors, who are smaller animation companies, beat them!
I'm mostly boycotting Disney (and have been ever since I saw Zootopia) but I'll watch Disney movies pirated on free websites like Actvid and Moviesjoy. The only thing I like from 2024 Disney is Kiff! LITERALLY KIFF! KIFF! Of all things, I never thought KIFF would be the only thing that's stopping me from abandoning Disney all together. I don't use Disney plus but the website I watch Kiff on doesn't have the recent episodes and I refuse to get Disney plus. Disney should focus on stuff like Kiff and Phineas & Ferb anyway. The only good show they got on Disney channel now is Bluey and Bluey is NOT EVEN DISNEY! Bluey is an Australian show and should be seen as that, instead of having the greediest corporation in the world act like they own an Aussie show that they didn't have anything to do with. Bluey should be on PBS kids or something, not greedy Disney! Who agrees? I'm American, but If I was in Australia I'd be so mad at Disney. Disney literally censored episodes, removed episodes, and stopped the writers from throwing in a Bible reference... when they weren't even making the show! If I was in charge, Disney Channel/Disney Junior would have shows like Jungle Junction, Phineas & Ferb, Bear in the Big Blue House, Good Luck Charlie, Suite life of Zack & Cody on Deck,... ect. Basically I'd bring back everything except JESSIE because it was racist (R.I.P to Cameron Boyce tho, he wasn't a bad guy he was just on a bad show).
Anyway, Disney is on my last nerve rn, and if it wasn't for Kiff I'd hate it all together. I still do hate Disney but the only thing that keeps me from wanting it to go away is Kiff. If you haven't heard of Kiff, it's a recent show by Disney, about an orange squirrel who's really energetic (and no, she's NOTHING like Scaredy Squirrel). As far as movies go, I know for sure that I will never see another Disney movie in theaters and I encourage you too, as well. They'll end up on Actvid or Moviesjoy before they even end up on Disney plus anyway, because Disey is popular and people care enough to record it off some hidden camera in theaters. I'm not saying you have to follow in my footsteps and boycott Disney, I'm just telling you on how I do it. Like, the day they come out in theaters is the same day they end up on free websites. Plus, you don't have to waste your money if the movie is going to be bad, like how Wish ended up being bad.
So yeah, please share your thoughts! If you're a Disney fan, I'm sorry. You have to know that they've been really shady recently (they always have been shady but particularly now).

since we're apparently among the only three people here who don't dislike Zaya...1. why do you think people have more trouble forgiving Zaya for their flaws when basically EVERY Degrassi ship is messy, flawed and complicated?! (Not judging anyone - we all like what we like, and things resonate with us for different reasons, I just find it interesting that people think Zaya is too toxic to forgive while some other Degrassi couples are objective just as messy and even more so) 2. Three Zaya scenes you love that show you they're meant to be? 3. Any songs you associate with Zaya? 4. Name three things Maya and Zig have in common and three differences they have that balance each other out! 5. Want to start a Zaya Appreciation Society with me? We can all share ice cream ;)
There are actually a solid amount of devoted Zaya fans. They're just harder to find. There's a reason I stick with Tumblr. Other places intimidate me and aren't worth the drama.
1.) Personal preference? Other than that, the existence of Campbell Saunders. Just as Zaya's potential romance was picking up steam and forming the foundation for their eventual relationship, Cam killed himself. Zig was the last person to speak to Cam. Regardless of Zig's intent or that during all of their interactions, Cam was the aggressor and the one who initiated all of their conflicts, the only thing the majority of Degrassi fans remember is that Zig pushed Cam over the edge. It never sat right with many viewers that Zig wasn't held more accountable for Cam's death or that Maya was so blasé about Zig's "confession". The writers' intent was clearly to send the message that no one is responsible for a suicide or anyone else's actions. But at the same time, you should still be mindful of others because you never know what's going on in someone else's head. Plus, I don't think Zig's character took quite the trajectory that some fans were expecting. He was supposed to have "learned" from Cam's death, meaning there was an expectation that he'd come away from the experience wiser with an acute awareness of how to navigate situations like this. It turns out, that never really happened. Zig tried his best and meant well, but he continued to be careless with words and was often in over his head. Zig also went on to feud with Maya's next boyfriend, Miles, where he was much more combative and kind of a shit starter. Miles was written with more care than Zig and quickly became the preferred character out of the two starting with season 14 and Next Class. So retroactively, Zig = bad, Miles = good. And lastly, a lot of people can't overlook cheating, even in fiction. While I take the stance that while I hate it, fictional cheating happening in teen dramas is highly likely, others felt too betrayed to continue supporting their relationship. Just overall, different people come away with different interpretations of characters and couples. In my opinion, Miles was far and away Maya's worst love interest and could have never made her happy in the long run even if they were both in heathier mindsets. Comparatively, I think Zig complemented Maya very well, offered constant emotional support and more often than not communicated well with her. Maya never seemed to be as happy with any guy as she was him once they were finally together. Others will tell you Miles was a great boyfriend, most of the things I just listed, and that Zig was a mediocre love interest.
2.) That's super tough to narrow down. I feel like I'm doing this wrong, but..
(1) Zig comforting Maya after Miles screams at her, reassuring her that he knows that she means well
Tumblr media
It's the softness for me. It's how after the confusion with the season 13 love triangle and Zig being resistant to Maya's help, he gets it. He's here when she needs him the most. It's funny how for some, Maya and Zig getting together in the second half of season 14 came totally out of nowhere. But even though I didn't expect it when the season was airing, looking back it's very easy to see what was developing and how they were getting closer and closer each episode. Even though the Maya/Miles relationship lingered and Zig could have potentially gotten together with Zoe, those romances didn't pan out. To me, this is when their season 14 arc officially begins.
(2) Zig and Maya making up backstage
Tumblr media
Yes, they were fighting and Maya was frustrated with Zig for trying to handle the gang on his own rather than turning Vince in, but he realized on his own (with the help of Damon) what needed to happen. We didn't see the full scene, but Zig clearly apologizes for their earlier conflict and for not initially going to the police. Maya is so forgiving and so prepared to forget the whole thing happened. Like she said. "You're here. We're together." That's literally all that mattered to her. No matter what happened, she was going to stick with Zig. No one can convince me that Maya Matlin wasn't equally and 100% as in love with Zig as he was her.
(3) Zig trying to cheer Maya up
Tumblr media
Post bus crash, Maya was in the darkest place she'd ever been in. She was slowly losing all of her personal connections. At this point, it would be difficult to say Zig and Maya were even friends anymore. Their relationship ended in a very painful way with Maya still angry with Zig even months later. They both almost died. Zig entered a very public relationship with Esme. While they had occasional moments where they interacted that reinforced their connection, (in 302 when Zig asked Maya for advice about Esme), overall Zig wasn't part of Maya's life and therefore missed a lot of her warning signs. But, he did notice her on the verge of breaking down in the hallway and instantly knew something was wrong even if he couldn't have imagined the extent of it. So, Zig basically gently forces Maya to open up to him about what's going on. He knows she's struggling with something and isn't happy anymore, so he decides to cheer her up. This is Maya's first genuine smile the entire season. Every other time, she's either faking it or indulging in darker interests that only serve to trigger her more. And Maya clearly feels all the feelings in that moment. Yes, it's easier with Zig and he reminds her of happier times, but it's also very obvious how much she's still in love with him. This isn't technically part of the scene, but in the next episode Maya makes it a point to ask Esme to take care of Zig for her. The only other person we see Maya explicitly request be taken care of after she's gone is her mother. So, it says a lot about the depth of Maya's love for Zig and how much it would mean to her for him to be taken care of after she's gone. Anyways. Zig makes Maya happy and instinctively understands her.
4.) Ugh, I'm the worst at song questions.
It Might Be Love - Latch Key Kid (played during the first time they went to The Dot)
Oh My Love - Layla (played when Maya kisses Zig in season 14, kickstarting their relationship)
The Words You Say - Harrison Storm (played at the end of #YesMeansYes)
Lover - Taylor Swift (I know I'm basic, but it's their song)
5.) Three things Zig and Maya have in common.. they're both loyal, protective people and never afraid to fight for what's right, particularly when it affects someone they care about. I'll count that as two. It's honestly tough to find similarities, as weird as that sounds. They just match each other's energy and tend to be on the same wavelength. I'll say they're both pretty laidback. In spite of the fact they find themselves pulled into drama (especially poor Maya), they typically don't go out of their way to create it. Sometimes certain rivals will bring out that side of them, but overall they're chill people.
As for the differences that balance each other out.. Zig is the more sensitive one. He has a way of being quietly supportive and intuiting things while Maya internalizes a lot of her emotions. She's so desperate for nothing to go wrong that she almost avoids reality. I honestly think Zig grounds her a bit and forces her to be honest with herself. While both have good hearts, Maya is more compassionate and quicker to forgive. Even though it would sometimes be easier to lash out and the people wronging her would 1000% deserve it, Maya avoids conflict for the most part. Zig has never met a physical conflict he didn't want to throw against his locker. He means well, but he struggles with his anger from time to time and can't help but want to defend. Sometimes he's defending himself, other times he's defending the people he cares about. Maya provides a calming influence and encourages Zig to find better, healthier ways to handle his problems. This is so hard LOL. I feel like that's it? Who Maya is and who Zig is and how they interact with each other makes them an unusually good match. This is awful. I apologize.
5.) Absolutely!

They aren't shoujo but...
Originally I wouldn't post it because I didn't wanna to cause controversies and thought it was silly, but this has been annoying me for a while so here we go...
The idea that shoujo is any mang/anime containing romance is annoying and tiring when it's a diverse demographic, and is even worse because a lot of people use the "romance" aspect as a way to dumb down the demo, so I really understand shoujo fans frustrations with it but there's certain mangas that folks get PISSED OF when most think they're shoujos even insinuating it's a completely crazy statement which in my opinion isn't fair.
︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵
Apothecary Diaries
Let's start with this one, that actually is the one which makes me more annoyed (and novel fans too)
Apothecary Diaries is a light novel that was published digitally, since LNs don't have demographics like mangas, they're categorized as joseimuke (for women/girls) or danseimuke (for men/boys), and guess what? It was written by a female author aimed at a female audience oh wow! "But the manga adaptation is a seinen!" yes, but this isn't a strong argument when code geass manga is a shoujo and we know very DAMN WELL women aren't the target audience for it 💀. Also an interesting thing to note is the (printed)novel beloging to square enix and they don't have a josei demographic, so it didn't have much chances of getting labeled as their og target audience.
Also it's kinda funny that people got kinda pissed at the notion of elements that could intend it being for women like Maomao herself or Jinshi (there's plenty of Jinshis in joseimuke medias so why they got mad) and it's especially funny because jp otaku men hated it when the anime aired, calling Maomao ugly and annoying, saying that Jinshi is too unrealistic and it's a female power fantasy why this is a bad thing help .
·· ──────── · ──────── ··
Horimiya
Recently I discovered a lot of people hate that anime/manga and hate the fl, welcome back Toradora! Now to our shounen or... not exaclty? It was published in Monthly G Fantasy a manga magazine known for their bishounen characters and fanservice for fujoshis; some of their titles are Black Butler, Jibaku Shounen and they also do the manga adaptation of Twisted Wonderland a joseimuke game,
Despite being a shounen jp sites sell them in the joseimuke category and some of their titles can be found in the female aisle alongside with shoujo and josei and most of the information of the magazine is focused on it young female readers, which is ironic since other magazines don't keep ofuscating their male readers y'know, but looking at what is published there is kinda obvious the actual male demographic is almost inexistent.
Now to the actual manga, let's be for real Miyamura ALONE is a reason to why most wouldn't think this is for men yeah bishounens exist in male demographics but not in romances, it's literally a recurring joke on how shounen romance girls look stunning meanwhile the men are average as hell, but in Horimiya is the opposite, look Hori is super pretty but compared to Miya she gets overshadowed to the point HE is the main selling point of the series.
Since i talked about Miyamura being the main point, this is also a reason why much wouldn't think this is for men, generally the idea of shounen romances is getting a perfect waifu, she's the main point, a girl that a guy would dream have, but when Horimiya launched actually the girls were fantasazing about Miya and they still do! Miyamura has more merch than Hori and look it's basically IMPOSSIBLE to have anything of a male character in a male targeted romance, since the idea is to you collect and appreciate your 2d gf, just search for popular shounen and seinen merch of that genre and see what I'm talking about.
To finish Horimiya most jp sites tag it as "for girls" manga and it's not even because of being a romance as many would think, since Blue Box and Kaoru Hana are sold as shounen in the same stores, so yeah maybe people weren't that crazy about calling it shoujo 😆.
·· ──────── · ──────── ··
Skip and Loafer
And last but not least Skip to Loafer you probably would be thinking "this chick gonna say this shit is secretely a seinen shoujo?" but no! It magazine is pure seinen, so if this isn't from a proto-shoujo magazine, neither having the a adaptation being joseimuke why is it here? Simple the content, Skip to Loafer is a coming of age story about a high school girl that focus on growing up, female friendships, characters emotions and has realistic deciptions of girlhood, hmm where did these things are more common? Which demographic would have something like that? It's obvious guys c'mon! The only thing that makes it not be a shoujo is the label, to the point where a lot of shoujo fans thought it was one and it's constatly compared to kimitodo, also the author already wrote bl and josei before so it's not like people are completly crazy thinking this could be for girls, and let's be honest, do you really think this is a series which the target audience are adult men? SERIOUSLY?
And yeah there's some men that said this is better than shoujo and stuff, but if it was shoujo they would say the same shit, saying "it's not like the other shoujos" how they did with Yona, Fruits Basket, Rayearth and even Sailor Moon recently and please stop letting dumb dudebros that don't even know what shounen or seinen is affect you that much, most of the fans are women both in jp and west, and most of them already watched shoujo before.
Just to conclude that part and also adding some things seinen and shoujo line sometimes can be very blurred, a lot of shoujo authors are or were seinen writers, also Kageki Shoujo were a seinen before moving to Melody and Orange moved to a seinen mag.
︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵
And to finish I understand the frustration of people recommending this series instead of actual shoujo ones (except Apothecary Diaries bc it is for women), especially because the manga community tend to snob shoujo series and see them as lesser just for being targeted at girls, demographics do matter! But I don't think is fair to get pissed off at people interpreting these works as targeting girls, considering they do have a female appeal and were purposely created that way by its women mangaka. I still think the real enemies are the ones calling Nisekoi, My Dress Up Darling, Rent a Girlfriend a shoujo💀.

I love the Percy Jackson series but almost every canon relationship is so shit (including percabeth) and I think there's like 2 I don't have issues with. If the relationship is well written then there are loads of issues and if it's badly written (like most of them are) there isn't an improvement.
This is specifically about the romantic ones but the platonic ones aren't much better, most of them are really underdeveloped or just ignored. And ofc the constant "they're best friends!" about two characters that never talk or act like they hate eachother, I might make a separate post about them.
So let's start with Calleo (Calypso and Leo) because they are arguably the worst.
At a base level, I never liked it bc it came out of nowhere and made no sense but like I've thought about it a lot and it's such a flawed pairing. There's the age gap, the dynamic and just the way they're treated as soulmates despite not knowing eachother at all
I've seen a bunch of people saying she was good for him because of how 'badly' his friends treated him but honestly she treated him a lot worse. Jokingly calling your friends annoying can be a bit mean when you overdo it but I don't think Leo was ever actually upset by it, most of his sadness was from trauma, his existing fears and the stress he was under with the prophecy. And if your argument is "Calypso was the nicest person to him" then remember Calypso also called him annoying, plus she yelled at him constantly and treated him worse than they did.
And getting a girlfriend would not be good for him considering his issues with self love. He did want a girlfriend but I don't think he should have got with someone, and in my opinion he especially should not have been with Calypso.
Leo could have been literally any guy for her. She's met thousands of men, she's fallen 'in love' with all of them (we know that because they can't leave unless she loves them) and then she's cursed them/their gfs when they leave (she cursed annabeth in tartarus). I think if Leo did get a girlfriend it should have been someone that actually liked him and not just liking what he could do for her.
Yeah Leo was the first guy to go back but he had to kill himself to see her and you should not need to destroy yourself for anyone, and definitely not someone you've known for like 3 days. Leo wanted to save her because he didn't think it was fair she was left there and took the time to help because he felt obligated and he felt bad for her. He was not the only person to try to help, just the only person that was physically able to.
I don't really like Calypso but I'm not saying she is the entire problem, she needed to be around other people. She needed to be free, she just wanted a boyfriend because that was the only option she felt she had. Calleo would not last very long realistically because I don't think either of them specifically wanted eachother.
And onto my biggest issue with this ship - Leo is 15 years old. Calypso is as old as the gods and should not be dating a teenager. In actual mythology (it's quite different but she's still based on and inspired by regular Calypso) Calypso forcibly kept Odysseus on her island for 7 years, raped him multiple times and forced him to have 2 kids with her. Ofc that was changed a lot and pjo Calypso isn't a rapist but why the fuck would Rick take that character and stick her with a 15 year old?
If she's old enough to spend 7 years with Odysseus and old enough to have met a thousand people she's way too old for Leo (like she is thousands of years old and is a daughter of atlas, it doesn't matter if she looks 16). Even if you want to argue that she gave up immortality, she gave it up when she had already been alive for a very very long time and like even if she wasn't immortal she'd be at least 18 because percy, two years before Leo met her said she looked 16 so a human Calypso is also an adult woman trying to date multiple 15 year olds.
They would have been great as friends but Rick was determined to get both of them paired up with anyone so it was the only solution he ever would've gone for.
Next up is frazel (Frank/Hazel) because again, age gap??
There should not be two characters dating minors in one book Rick, please do better.
So Frank is 16 and starts dating Hazel when she is 13. "Frank only just turned 16" yeah but 15 and 13 isn't much better, "Hazel is close to 14" okay but again, 14 and 16 is not okay either.
"it's only 2/3 years" that age gap in adults is totally fine and generally completely unimportant but these are teenagers and when your brain isn't fully developed an age gap of just a few years is pretty important. A three year age gap is the difference between a newborn who can't crawl or say a word and a three year old that can run around and talk almost full sentances. Adults with that gap are the same point in life, the same developmental stage but teens aren't. I'm around Franks age and every single 13 year old I've met has looked about 8 to me. Yesterday a 13 year old girl came into my part time job and started singing the beauty and the beast soundtrack because she saw a red rose and there was no point where I thought "yeah that's hot" because that's a little kid?
And Rick won't give that kid a break because there's also Lazel (Leo/Hazel)
The weird love triangle thing? Because she dated his great grandad?? It was so unnecessary and icky and I swear the only reason that it happened was that Rick didn't know how to flesh out their characters.
Leo hit on every single person without fail and then he reached Hazel who was essentially saying "I have a bf but we could be together if you act nicely"
And they both just kinda suck in every scene, Leo harasses her and then she leads him on (I hate saying that phrase but I do think that's what's happening here) and that just loops.
I just wish Hazel could be single yk? She's 13, she does not need to be in a relationship with anybody??
Next up Jasper/Jiper (Jason/Piper) because who actually likes them
So their relationship was never real in the first place, their memories were altered. But then Piper is so possessive over him and bitchy to anyone who wasn't Jason (like that scene where Percy got hurt and she was like "I feel bad for annabeth but I'm glad it was him and not Jason" wtf was that?)
Considering their entire relationship was a lie and Jason was essentially claimed as hers the second they met, I don't understand why they stayed together. I assumed they had "broke up" when they were at camp because like they didn't know eachother at all (not even an entire day, Jason had a few minutes with her) and weren't trying to talk it out. And then I read moa and literally thought I missed a book bc "why and when tf did they start dating"
They were written so badly and in my opinion they only ever brought out the worst in each other (Piper acting even more 'pick-me-girl-y' than normal and Jason just being far more confused and guilty than normal) because Jason did not know this girl and they never actually spoke about it.
I get why Piper was upset about everything, it is a really shitty situation and that would be real hard to deal with. But the possessiveness and bitchiness drove me crazy and I honestly thinks it's selfish to stay in that relationship.
In all of their ship moments it's just so tacky, you can see how desperate and pushy Piper is and how uncomfortable Jason is. It's like he pities her a lot of the time.
Y'all might be mad about this one but onto Percabeth (Percy/Annabeth)
They were a pretty great pair and in the original series I did like them but then hoo hit and they became fully codependent and so out of character. It was like they weren't Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase anymore, they were just Percabeth. They'd say the most ooc shit ever and then throw in a "seaweed brain" and everyone acted like it was sweet scene.
The way she'd just ask him for help every time she has an issue, the way he was so insistent on looking after her? Yeah the scene where Annabeth threw her knife into the water was cute but Annabeth Chase, the girl full of hubris, anger issues and fight training would never rely on Percy to fight her battles. It was like Rick forgot her personality and just went "yeah she's Percy's smart gf" as if she hadn't been training twice as long as he had
The original series and chalice of the gods had them both pretty in character but I think the love story aspect really took over their lives as soon as they got together.
I've noticed loads of Percabeth fans get really angry when people don't like them but I just think they were so much better as friends and I rlly don't get the hype.
I think both of them just really needed a good friend and I was pretty disappointed when I realized they liked eachother (I didn't realize until Annabeth got mad at Rachel) because I'd always just seen their relationship as platonic yk?
That's probably just me being dense and seeing it how I wanted it to be but I wish more pjo fans would stop acting as if they were the cutest ideal couple. Percabeth fans getting really angry at every other ship involving one of them? Hating Rachel just because she likes Percy? Its so unnecessary
It isn't a bad ship but it wasn't written very well and I think dating erased a lot of their personalities and lives.
Next up is Solangelo (Nico/Will)
So I love these two and I don't think there's much wrong with them but I do think it was very rushed.
If you haven't noticed by this point, I really think Rick put less effort into the characters in heroes of olympus, there were some great scenes and I love the series but a lot of the relationships were written so badly and it felt like he was trying to hard to push the romance, rather than the fantasy/adventure part that he seems a lot better at
I think almost every solangelo fic I've read had been better written, the only reason they were together is Rick's insistance of getting every teenager in a romantic relationship. They met, argued and killed a guy and then Will complimented him. And they were cute but the next we heard from them should've been their relationship growing and not just "that's my boyfriend"
Onto Piper and Shel
Edit: Tbh I think Nico was changed quite a bit to fit with Will? If you compare how he acts before and after meeting Will I think it's pretty different.
So these two felt the most forced out of everyone. It seems like Rick just didn't want Piper to be single, forgot she wasn't in the later books and had to think of something quickly. This is mostly about Piper because Shel is barely even a character, she's just there to show Piper 'moving on' and to show she likes girls.
I don't care that Piper likes girls, I do too, and I would've loved that if we actually got that storyline. But it's clearly forced diversity rather than actually planning her to be that way, and it doesn't feel natural at all. We go from her obsessively pining over Jason to her dumping him to her seemingly wanting him back and after all that I was expecting them to get back together or at least for them to spend some time single to move on but the next time we see Piper she's kissing her girlfriend?
I've seen a lot of people saying that's why she was so desperate to stay with Jason and that that's why their relationship seemed kinda fake but if you read her perspective it really doesn't seem like that's the case. I think calling her a lesbian takes away quite a bit of her personality (like can't she be bi? pan? something that stays accurate to the character??) because absolutely, lesbians can have relationships with men before they figure themselves out but that isn't what happened.
It seems like Piper wasn't over Jason at all and I think dating Shel was her way of trying to move on. (Because whatever chance she had with Jason is obviously gone, her rizz is strong but death is stronger) It's not like I want her to spend the rest of her life alone and sad, but I would've loved some character development that wasn't just shoving her out of the closet. She wasn't over Jason but then he died and she suddenly has a girlfriend? How long were they together??
Like I thought Piper was bi for a while but the way it was written seemed so much like a "her boyfriend left so she's gay now!" rather than the semi-closeted bi mess that she was probably meant to be.
Lastly Gruniper (Grover and Juniper)
The only relationship that isn't weirdly codependent and it's because Rick blatantly forgot about her. Grover liked someone else in chalice of the gods? He was fully ready to cheat on her throughout the book
And just? Why were they ever together?? The first time we meet juniper its through her being Grovers gf. Grover was super underdeveloped as a character, as a friend and as a boyfriend because characters that weren't in relationships got no development but Juniper was literally mentioned less than Rachel's parents. We don't know when where or why they got together, we don't know when they met we don't know ANYTHING about their relationship

unpoular opinion (maybe?)
the marauders fandom sometimes lacks nuance in the way the marauders are portrayed as the "good guys" and snape is completely bad. i hate snape personally but erasing the good in him (and there HAD to be some good for lily to put up with him for that long) just takes the nuance out of it in my opinion. for me, i dislike snape because i think the bad in him heavily outweighs the good and i hate the way he treats people and his overall personality just sucks
but similarly, making james overly perfect does the same thing!!! i think some people equate morality and likability a little too much. but sirius is usually done very well, i love how people don't shy away from his flaws
ooooh INTERESTING anon i think i agree with u!
like. personally i do not like snape and don't think i ever will but i agree that flattening the characters into a black and white "snape evil marauders good" is just. not very compelling storytelling.
i actually think it's really interesting to explore lily's relationship with snape and why she stayed friends w him for so long even tho he was a shitty person. for me personally i relate snape a lot to a certain type of boy i was friends with when i was a teenager, who was disenfranchised in some area of life (for snape it's class + blood status) and yet thanks to patriarchal messaging still felt as though he was entitled to like....more power in the system. and so there was this slowly growing resentment as he grew older that made him susceptible to right-wing ideas. and the thing about this type of boy is that i think for someone who's close with him, it can be very difficult to come to terms with the fact that he's become a shitty person, especially if he's always treated you like you're special and especially if you've seen the way he's struggled with his own disenfranchisement. u start to think "oh no he would never be like that" bc u think ur both on the same side of the line, both oppressed by this larger system, and u don't realize until it's too late that he doesn't want to dismantle the system, he just wants to claw his way up within it. a lot of times u feel like u can save him bc u see the good in him so it has to be there, and u don't realize that the only reason he's "good" to u is that he views u as a special exception to a group of people he actually looks down on, and that when push comes to shove he will reveal his true colors.
i think snape is a much more interesting character when he's written not as someone who was inherently evil but rather someone who was shaped into a bad person by the world around him. i still interpret him as a pretty unequivocally shitty person, but what i find compelling is the fact that he didn't have to end up that way, and bc of that his story mirrors a lot of irl men + boys who get sucked into alt-right pipelines bc they feel beaten down by the world in other areas of life. of course that is just my take on it but! on the whole regardless of how one interprets characters i find it more compelling to acknowledge that the potential for good + bad exists equally within everyone rather than acting like some people are 100% good and others are 100% bad

Hi, this is my first post here, and i'd like to share with you one of my Bungou theories. I hope you will like it regardless on the fact that the theme of the theory isnt very popular and rather hated by fandom.
╔══ஓ๑♡๑ஓ══╗
My theory about Tanizaki siblings
Who is Naomi
Naomi is a younger sister of Junichiro. Although we know age of Junichiro (18), we dont have canonical approval of Naomis age. We can only guess. And mine is that shes 2-3 years old younger. However, in my theory, this physical age of her doesnt matter. Because Naomi is not real.
More about my theory
Naomi is just projection of Junichiros Light snow. In my theory, Naomi once was a real life person, but something very tragic happened to her and she died at a young age (im guessing around 8-11 years old). Junichiros body and brain responded with rewriten memories and creation of ‘real‘ Naomi. His will to make Naomi come back to life was so strong, that she took a physical form. We can see with Elise, that something like this is possible.
What happened to Naomi?
Everyone for sure notice pretty well, that Junichiro has a real switch when it comes to his baby sister. And i cant think otherwise, than that he has split up personality (trauma related, he vitnessed his parents being killed/or he found their corpses) and she is his trigger. Junichiro in this state is coldblooded, emotionless (except anger) and brutal, he will kill anyone if it means saving or revenge for Naomi. But what if its like this only because he wasnt once able to save her? In fact, I think that Junichiro is her killer. His alt persona took over him in no good moment, and in anger he killed her. This moment led to absolute trauma for normal/host Junichiro and he couldnt possibly take it. And as i said, his brain responded in a way of a creation of Naomi with physical form and forgetting that something like this ever happened.
More brutal thing i think is: Junichiro lived with corpse of Naomi for some time without realizing. He never realized it, because ‘new‘ Naomi cleaned it when he wasnt at home.
Why i think it gives sence
In a first place, Naomi is the only and only character in a show, that didnt exist in real life. ‚Naomi‘ is a Light novel written by Junichiro Tanizaki. (this also gives me ideas on how she can be connected to the mystery book everyone is after in bsd, but that can be for some other time to write about)
I made an observation about her touching people, since it catched my eye. From what i remember, Naomi touched with someone for only 4 times in whole 22 volumes (excluded Junichiro). But it was never her, who initiated it, it was always someone else.
For example: Atsushi choking her -> Atsushi touched Naomi
Q bumping into her and the second girl -> Q touched Naomi
Isn’t it weird? What if she isnt able to touch anybody because of the fact, they could be able to somehow break this physical illusion.
Naomis behaviour is at least weird. Shes not acting like -my guess- 15-16 year old girl. Shes acting really childish and her clinginess towards her brother fits more for an elementary school little girl, than almost grown up adult woman. It would make sence that even tho her illusion self was and is still growing, her personality stays the same. Junichiro cant possibly know how Naomi would be like after growing up. And since he doesnt even know she is illusion he cant control her and change her personality.
╚══ஓ๑♡๑ஓ══╝
This my theory is just one of my few overthinks. I know its long, but i tried my best to write my thoughts so it gives sence to u guys. I truly belive this theory of mine but if u guys have any opinion on this (positive or negative) im open to hearing them.
Thank u for reading this long long paragraph. Have a nice day and stay safe ‧͙⁺˚*・༓☾

I was gonna js comment but this got long so let’s start:
Barbara is Cass’s mother figure. They’re not sisters, they’re not friends, they’re mother and daughter. Cass herself has said so. Babs takes care of Cass, fights with Bruce about what should be better for her well being, etc. She’s a child of divorce at her core even though her parents (Bruce and Babs) were never married.
Portraying Dick as sunshine boy or smug cop are both wrong. He’s a human being and all the extremes are just awlful writing. He’s not a overly sexual womanizer (he barely even cares about sex at all) but he’s also not a prude. He’s not a perfect person but he’s also the example of hero community. There are characters that you can’t just put into a singke label and doing it just ruins any depth he may have had in the past.
Damian only works as a kid character, making him grow up and especially that fast was a mistake. His behavior can be excused as a child, he’s a kid, he’s still learning, he grew up in a utopia with people telling him he was gonna be a leader when he grew up, but keeping this attitude up as a teen or adult makes him insufferable. Also, his backstory sucks, the only good things were stolen from Cass and it just makes absolutely no sense.
Tim is a very bland and nothing character. He was created to be relatable so he has basically no personality and can be written however one likes, which makes him very hard to enjoy. You may read current Tim comic and he is the smartest goodest bestest boy alive! You read a Red Robin comic and he’s a fucking suicidal lunatic. You read a og 90s comic and he’s literally just a smug-ish but over all nice teen boy. You can’t track down Tim’s personality because he has no personality. He’s been everything which ultimately makes him nothing.
Barbara is not nice. I can’t stress this enough, she’s mean, making her a nicey goody two shoes doesn’t work. Let my girl be mean again. She’s bad at communicating, she wasn’t that good of a mother to Cass (though she did have good intentions), neglected Stephanie’s feelings and obvious need of training and support and though always calling Bruce out on his bullshit sucked at acually trying to help the people that he hurt. She’s a overworked and very traumatized person with a lot of issues, everything that goes wrong is always dumped on her, she makes mistakes, she treats people badly and that’s okay, that doesn’t make her a bad person, just a normal one.
Bette Kane and the Fab Five are Dick’s original childhood friends. It was a huge mistake to try to change it to Babs or the New Teen Titans when they only met him way later in life. Actually, now that I mentioned it, Barbara was supposed to be in between Dick and Bruce’s age, even when they got together for the first time there was some big age gap. She was never supposed to be his age.
The batfam girls are literally so much more enjoyable than the guys. I don’t hate the “batboys” (even though I hate this nickname💀💀) but the girls are just way cooler and more interesting characters.
Talia’s character assassination is pretty much Damian’s fault. If he had never existed (or at least made canon) Morrison would have no reason to write her as badly as they did. The rape was a excuse to make sure that Bruce wouldn’t know Damian existed and the abuse just created to give him a tragic backstory of some sort (which, as I mentioned, was just a worse version of Cass’ backstory).
Steph Brown is one of the best characters in the fam and deserves more love from the fandom and writers. She’s much more interesting than many of the “main” boys and the fact that her feelings and opinions are never explored is just a crime.
Bruce being broody, mean and overly serious doesn’t work that well for his character. Batman was created as a smug bitch who made fun of his enemies and always tried enjoying at the job. Of course he took it seriously, but when the threat was small he was alright with quipping and having fun with Dick. Literally just let the man smile, he used to be such a goof and it was one of his best encarnations. However, being funny sometimes doesn’t change the fact that Bruce was ALWAYS bad at communicating. He wasn’t always a bad father but very bad at talking to people, yes. He didn’t inform Dick of things properly and often caused misunderstandings that made him upset, but that’s it. No hitting, no unnecessary meanness. He cares abot his family more than about his own life and would never hurt them on purpose.
There’s not a problem with having a lot of batfamily members as long as you write them all properly and don’t sideline anyone (which seems to be a unknown concept to DC, so yeah).
Bruce would still be Batman if his parents hadn’t died. This has been explored in some older comics, but prettt much forgotten nowadays. Bruce is empathetic at his nature. He loves Gotham and proteting her, if his parents survived the incident he would still get shocked by the violence and work to become someone who is able to stop it.
Stephanie saw Bruce as a parent figure and that’s why their relationship was so convoluted. Steph has a history with trying to find men to somehow replace her father as actually good role models (read Secret Origins and you’ll see a bit of that) and she saw Bruce as a safe guy. He has adopted and cared for children before, he’s a hero, he fights crime, he’s the exact opposite of Arthur and seemed to respect her (at least in their first interactions), but that was the worst scenarion possible for Bruce, who (canonically) saw too much of Jason on Stephanie and got afraid that if he let her in, trained her, grew attatched to her she’d just die like Jason and he couldn’t deal with loosing another child, so he preferred to just pretend that he was not important to her, even though he very much was and now their relationship is a hot mess because of that.
Thomas Wayne was probably not a very good father. We know little about him but the few comics which flesh out his relationship with Bruce usually portray him as neglectful or even abusive.
Cass either communicating via ASL or normal english are both pretty stupid. She probably understand those languages (mixing a bit with understanding what people mean via context and body language) but speaking them should be weird and hard for her. I personally would write Cass as having her own “language”. Ways in which she figured out how to communicate properly without using words or languages. That could include gestures, signals and obviously a few words here and there. She can learn to speak I just think that shouldn’t be her main way of communication.
Bruce isn’t distant from people because of his trauma (though that did help) he has always been described as a introverted, shy and friendless child. With time he did learn to be more open and even to play people with his Brucie Wayne persona, but he’s just bad at relationships, that wouldn’t be changed by circumstances.
Tim and Jason having a good relationship is some insane levels of bullshit. They would have never gotten along, writers and fans should leave it at that. Jason tried to kill Tim and Tim was shit talking recently deceased Robin!Jason Todd from day one. It’s way funnier to build a dynamic around them bickering and hating each other’s guts than having a meh relationship that makes zero sense with any tiny bitsy of context.
Somethings in comics should just be ignored, retconned or changed. Sometimes stuff is written by people who have personal biases on a character or situation and doesn’t actually make sense within the narrative (cough, cough, Morrison about Talia), however there’s stuff that also feels patronizing to disregard. For example; Stephanie died and that has never been adressed after her return. Like, yeah, it was shit that she was killed off by sexist writers who hated her on the first place but now we should get to at least talk about it???
Jason Todd’s return and motivation makes zero sense. Bruce doesn’t kill, Jason knows that. He has the right to be pissed off about it, of course he has, but trying to force Bruce to kill Joker is just bullshit. You want your revenge? Do it, Batman walked off, he is letting you do it, but no, he wants his father who is very known for not crossing that one line to be a murderer after already traumatizing and injuring the old man multiple times. At this point their relationship is just pathetic. Get over it, bro, you should’ve known from the start that you weren’t gonna get what you wanted.
I guess that’s it, I could say more but I’m too lazy to keep going💀💀
What's your batfam hot take that will land you like this?
