I have finished episode 1 and I liked it quite a lot! I hope it continues this way. So far it has made improvements in every area I had issue with in season 1.
A little list of things I enjoyed below the cut if you don't mind spoilers/you're interested in that kind of thing
A) I LOVE how bad Beginning of the 2nd Age-Power Vacuum Sauron is at leadership! Complete cringefail leader. the orcs mutiny 5 minutes after he takes over. His little Lord Farquad speech. He got stabbed so many times! Someone else called him a recently promoted middle manager and yes, that's the vibe exactly. He's just so bad at it.
B) Goo Guy. Sauron gets Caesar-ed and just mopes as a puddle of goo for a couple hundred years until (presumably) he hears Gal skulking around his frozen castle and eats enough rats to become evil noodles. He's Hexxus from Ferngully flopping down a mountain and I giggled such a giggle.
C) Poppy!
D) Elf Songs!
E) the origin of the pouch! Also the way he lets the other humans speak first so he can mimic their accent. He gets murdered one time because he couldn't match the vibe and my goes "never a-fucking-gain, I've going to pivot so hard I swear"
F) The added context around the "the tides of fate are flowing" raft moment which is more subtle and complex now that we know what the pouch means to him and now that Charlie Vickers knows he's Sauron and knows he knows who Galadriel is. (He didn't find out he was Sauron until episode 3 in season 1)
To me this scene doesn't read "mastermind" it reads opportunism. I read his little smirk as "my enemy's fate is in my hands, I can leave her to drown" and there's little beat after with a bit of inner conflict. And we know from season one that the conflict and the "choose good again and again" won out (albeit temporarily) with Galadriel. He abandons his raft-mates, but given the second chance to help Galadriel he does. Twice. And the context of the pouch and the sweet old man he totally left to die really does add to it. I was afraid he'd be way too arch now that we know who he is, but it's just the right amount of mustache twirling so far. G) Lil Moses moment. I like that it worked and the people of the Southlands do get free.
H) Halbrand's dungeon time. Look, I'm only human
I) Círdan. Ben Daniels is so fucking good
All the elf scenes feel so much more charged, urgent, and personal. I'm bought in.
J) speaking of elves, Sauron and Galadriel's divorce era is off to a great start. Just badmouthing each other at every turn.
K) the little R & J moment when the messenger arrives and oh no it's the wrong message! Tragedy will ensue!
L) L is for last but not least, "I will serve the lord of mordor" and that little wordplay grin. Perfect amount of mustache twirl for the moment.
Welp, predictably, I lost the bet and resisted the call of the rings for all of a day and a half. I'm 30 minutes into the 1st episode of season 2 and frankly having a ball

.
He's still holding the damn fan even when working, how iconic.
The first panel made me laugh ngl.
But hey, at least Zeze had somewhat of a good manner in front of women. Still, lot of potential here. Those two being partners would be hilarious and also really fucking interesting.
I hope them both get more screentime because holy fuck, they are underrated af.
They looked amazing in the student council uniform btw, just wanted to point that out but alas is it a surprise that Nishi Osamu makes breathtaking designs of characters?
New. Character. YES.
Tumblr media
.
She's so cute I love her already. Her character design is compelling, the showcase of her personality is pretty cute.
Also her and Iruma's army with the kouhais? FUCK YEAH, MORE FUCKING YUMMY FLUFF DYNAMICS LET'S FUCKING GOO.
I am so damn excited to see what's next. The arc is starting pretty nice so far in my opinion! I forgot to say this but-

My live reaction:

YES PRAISE HER M O R E.
Chima complimenting Silvia made my multishipper heart flutter. They are so adorable I swear to god. Yabashi, ( de-man guy ) is like the guy I want to see more in the story. He is so cute, seriously he went to Scary Bad Boy -> Cute Socially Awkward. It's so damn funny I can't-
Anyways besides all that, I hoped you somewhat enjoyed my rant of the recent chapters of Mairuma, I hope you have a good day or night guys, gals and non-binary pals!

I think at least for me Schwarz is in the same boat as Tomimi: I recognize the horny design, but she's too funny for me to be horny about. She's not nearly as funny as Tomimi, don't get me wrong, but I just love this like, born and raised assassin who met this upper-middle-class bookworm with a parasol and because the bookworm didn't know any better to be scared of her Schwarz decided she had no choice but to simp.
No no you're right, Schwarz IS funny.
Schwarz was a normal kid that HAHA THAT'S A LIE She is originally from Rim Billiton and her parents were ore traders, but then one day they got scammed into buying not Whatever Ore They Wanted but Originium Ore instead, which 1) they didn't deal with and 2) got Schwarz infected. So they went to complain like "hey you scammed us" and the scammers were like "the customer is always WRONG" and killed them, then grabbed Babby Schwarz and sold her to slavery, where she was purchased by a mercenary group that trained her to be the Ultimate Child Assassin later Ultimate Assassin in general, and they were like "Ok, we finally can take on this big job! We're going to kill the Mayor of Siesta! And for that, we need our BIGGEST GUN" and who else would be the gun of sizeable heft if not Schwarz?
So Unfailing Super Assassin Schwarz confronts the Mayor, and the Mayor says "hey, you are pretty good at this, you should be my daughter's bodyguard" and Schwarz was like "literally why" and Majorman was like "better pay, better life, I have a cute daughter your age" and Schwarz was like "bet" and well, she did just that, but they don't tell Ceylon ANY of this, so as far as Ceylon knows, Schwarz is just her weird stoic lovable bodyguard friend gal pal who makes really good tea and also for some reason can destroy entire armored platoons with just a crossbow but otherwise totally normal.
What you have to remember is that Ceylon is a scholar, an academic, a researcher, she's high int, but definitely low wis, because you know she has witnessed Schwarz go full John Wick With A Pen on at least six different people and all Ceylon could think was "Wau! I can't wait to go home so we can continue watching Utena :D" like, this was NORMAL for Ceylon, this was normality, no wonder she sees every freak at Rhodes Island and is like "this is a peaceful place with kind inhabitants, a true and tried pharmaceuticals company cut from the finest of cloths!", when your frame of reference for normality is SCHWARZ, of course you'll witness Specter chewing on reinforced metal, Ifrit burning entire hallways in a bout of rage, Shamare playing medium to the forces of the abyss, and Lappland eating a Kitkat wrong and be like "this is literally just Tuesday". Ceylon probably believes Shalem is a normal guy.
It gets even worse/better when you realize that Schwarz was getting MK Ultra Superassassin training when she was like 8.
Tumblr media
Schwarz has 20 years of combat experience. That's an insane amount!
Tumblr media
But she got infected when she was 6! Which means she was sold to slavery and subsequently trained to be Solid Snake Catgirl around the time when she was maybe 8 or so! NO WONDER Schwarz looks at all the freaks at Rhodes Island and is like "haha oh wow you are all freaks I respect literally every single one of you" LIKE YEAH OK SCHWARZ, THEY ARE FREAKS, but not you, oh, no, not you, you are only accomplishing what all these people manage with extreme dimensional-reality warping powers and super unholy magic, by simply being that good with your crossbow. Schwarz' superpower is literally "is REALLY good with a crossbow" and it matches and surpasses people with fucking reality altering powers or control over gravity or what the hell ever, Schwarz is a fucking riot, she really said "Wow! I never thought I'd see anyone like you people!" well yeah no one would expect a single catgirl with a crossbow to fucking blow up the Pentagon singlehandedly if she could, Schwarz definitely has the sheer firepower and skill for it, just because she's THAT good at Crossbow.

Girl's Night - ROTTMNT Fic
Tina hangs out with April and her gal pal and girlfriend.
If you don’t like reading on Tumblr you can find them on:
AO3
Fanfiction
Tina and April were sitting outside on the front lawn of their high school while eating lunch together under Tina’s favorite tree. The sun was warm, but the air was chill to the touch as it blew around them. Tina was relieved to feel the returning chill of autumn again while she saw April zip up her green varsity jacket to defend herself from the cold.
“Then boom! Pow! I hit Shreddy in the face with a giant shipping container while using my crane-ing expertise.”
           “Woah!” Tina breathed.
“Yah! It was scary and epic, and we were so tired, but we kept pushing to the limits. Mikey even threw a whole shipping ship at Shredder. It was amazing.”
Tina nodded at that as she was stuffing her mouth with little sausages.
“Do you have any cool battle stories? The boys told me about your beef with the crazy dentist doctor guy, uh…”
           “Dr. Noe,” Tina reminded her.
“Yah! Him. Who else have you fought?”
April took a bite out of her sloppy joe sandwich.
“I don’t do most of the fighting. I’m a support class type girl. Or at least that’s how Dad has trained me to fight.”
April gave the white, blond girl an incredulous look.
“What do you do if you’re in a situation that you can’t support your way out of?”
Tina shrugged, then said, “I’m supposed to call my dad, but even I think this won’t be very affective in the long run. I’m pretty much nothing without my fans so I wouldn’t know what I’d do if I couldn’t call for help or get myself out of trouble.”
Tina and April sat quietly for a moment as they ate, as neither one of them knew how to make that hypothetical situation better.
“Hey, so me and the girls are going to the Hidden City this weekend to go thrift shopping. Do you want to come? I can finally introduce you to Sunita and Casey,” April offered.
She thought about it for a minute, wondering if she really wanted to go or not, and there were her responsibilities at the tea shop.
“I don’t know. I’ll have to ask Dad if he’ll need me for anything and if he doesn’t, I’ll text you.”
“Alright! Sounds like a plan,” April said with a smile, “Trust me. You’re going to love them.”
Tina could only smile and shrug at that. Happy that April’s so optimistic about her friendship making capabilities.
Saturday morning Tina was walking up to the restaurant, Run of the Mill Pizza, in her yōkai disguise. She was excited and scared about meeting April’s other friends and made sure she put on her cutest black flowery dress. Then she had her dad help her edit her yōkai disguise so that her black eagle wings had an extra glossy rainbow look to them, and that her long black hair was in a high ponytail with yellow roses in it.
As Tina was walking up to Run of the Mill Pizza, she saw a teen girl who looked about a year older than her who is a slime yōkai. Her vaguely female-humanoid form dripped down into puddles where her feet would be if she had any, with a glob of goo covering one of her yellow eyes.
She looked at Tina as she was walking with purpose towards the slime yōkai, and she smiled and waved at her.
When they were finally close enough, the slime yōkai said, “I’m Sunita. You must be Tina. It’s so good to meet you.”
Sunita offered her hand for Tina to shake, and she shook her goo-y hand, as she said, “Yah. I’m she,” once she got her hand back, she shook the slime off then said, “Am I late?”
“No. I was just so excited that I came here early. I actually haven’t been standing here that long either. Are you also excited?”
“No. Not exactly,” she started rubbing the back of her neck as she looked at the ground behind Sunita, “I’m more nervous than excited.”
“Well. I know being friends with a human can have its cultural differences, but you’ve already seen what a wonderful person April is and even though Casey is a bit abrasive, she’s kind and dedicated and has a great work ethic.”
Tina folded her hands in front of her stomach as she looked back up at the slime yōkai and said, “Okay.”
“So tell me. Are you really a female tengu? I don’t see your kind very often because of the whole ordeal the Tengu have about women in general. What’s it like? Why are you so far away from your mountain? Can you do one of your cool tricks?”
Tina leaned away from Sunita’s questions as she sighed fearfully, not really sure how to go about answering her questions.
“Uh… I’m not going to do any tricks. Not when I’m feeling uncomfortable,” Sunita leaned away from Tina apologetically, and Tina continued to say, “And unfortunately, tengu politics are complicated and a bit exhausting to talk about sometimes, but fun fact, they take in trans-men and kick out trans-women, so they’re not transphobic at the very least?”
           “That’s good?”
Sunita’s face was twisted in an uncomfortable cringe at the questionable information, and it made Tina chuckle.
The two teenage girls moved on to more mundane topics like their favorite bands, who they follow on the Internet, and what they do for fun. Soon enough they saw April running towards them.
“Hey Girl!” Sunita greeted warmly, “Where’s your girl?”
“The boys were trying to follow us, so I made a run for it while Casey’s distracting them long enough to confuse them before she meets up with us.”
“Awe. They just want to join the fun,” Sunita said sympathetically.
“Yah, well. I want a girl’s only adventure and I mean it,” April huffed.
           “That’s fair,” Tina said.
April looked Tina up and down, and Tina notice that she was staring a bit at her long nose, and pinkish-red skin, and clawed feet, and black eagle wings.
Eventually, April asked, “So who are you?”
Then it clicked in Tina’s brain, and she slapped her forehead and said, “Of course you don’t recognize me. You’ve never seen me like this before.”
Tina then took her golden eagle broach off her dress strap, and she turned into a white skinned, blond haired, buttoned nosed human again.
“Ah man!” April’s face was frowning hard with disappointment in herself, and said, “I should have recognized you by your voice.”
Tina shrugged, then said, “It’s not like we’ve been friends for very long.”
Then out of the corner of her eye she saw Sunita move weirdly and when Tina turned to look fully at her, she was staring at her with her mouth a gape. Tina cringed guiltily at her look.
“Yah. I’m human. I was adopted by a tengu, so I’m not a tengu woman but I am a woman of the tengu…” After her little explanation she gave Sunita a tight-lipped smile and did a “ta-da” motion at her.
“Oh. Cool. Why do you wear that cloaking broach then?” Sunita asked.
“Do you know how dangerous it is for humans to be by themselves in the Hidden City? The hate crimes against more human looking yōkai? The slurs? I don’t have a friend group to be a buffer for me like that, so I get a disguise.”
“Oh yah…” Sunita said as she folded her goo arms under her chest, “I guess that does happen. I’ve been living with humans for so long now, I kind of forgot about that aspect in the Hidden City.”
“I never had that problem down here,” April said.
“And I hope you never do,” Tina said as she tried to get her broach back on but was a little shaky handed because she was now worried that someone would come out of the restaurant before she’ll have her disguise on.
From a distance, the three of them heard a girl yelling hellos and apologies at them as she got closer when Tina finally got her pin on and turned back into her tengu disguise. Tina looked up to see a Japanese Asian girl. Her black hair was buzz cut. She was wearing black lipstick as the only kind of make-up she had on. She was wearing a black, ripped up t-shirt with a skull on the chest, a pair of black cargo pants, and black combat boots. For the oddest reason, Tina felt like she recognized her.
“Hey Sunita! Good to see you again,” she smiled at the slime yōkai, and Sunita greeted her warmly.
She then gave April a quick peck on the cheek and said, “I swear it gets harder and harder to shake them off my trail.”
“Well, you did a good job,” April praised her as she grabbed her shirt to pull her down to her height so that April could give her girlfriend a quick kiss on the lips. Then April let go of her and said, “Casey, meet Tina. Another school friend of mine.”
Casey turned her attention on Tina and had a nice wide smile on her face at the sight of her, but as she was making the motion to do a handshake, she got a bit wide eyed, then she scowled and got into a defensive stance as she pointed accusingly at Tina yelling, “You!”
All three girls were confused by this, but then it hit Tina as she finally recognized the teenager before her. She was just used to seeing her masked up and in a special uniform. That realization shook a snort out of her, then she started to laugh hard. Tina’s laughter only darkened Casey’s scowl.
“Can someone please explain to me what’s going on?” April asked.
“Yah, what’s so funny,” Sunita asked as she looked between the humored Tina and angered Casey.
Gasping for air, Tina wiping away her tears as she said, “I—I can’t breathe. You tell them.” Tina then turned away from the three of them as she tried to get her laughter under control.
“We’re mortal enemies is what we are! Every time there’s a Lou Jitsu special sale of some kind here in the Hidden City, she’s always there grabbing all the best stuff before anyone can even touch it. I almost had Lou Jitsu’s original suit he fought in at the Battle Nexus, but then she grabbed it right out of my reach,” Casey then pointed more aggressively at Tina’s quivering back and yelled at her, “What kind of person even buy’s those cheesy ass body pillows anyway?!”
Snickering, Tina turned around and said, “The kind that you want specifically.”
Casey stomped up to Tina and grabbed her by the straps of her dress. All three girls weren’t sure if Casey was going to punch Tina or yell even more, but Tina’s reaction was to start laughing harder again while April grabbed Casey’s shoulder to pull her back and Sunita got between Casey and Tina to be a slimy barrier.
April was trying to get Casey to calm down as Sunita turned to Tina and asked, “Is that true?”
Tina took a few shaky breaths as she tried to calm down, then said, “Yah. I had a lot of fun with it,” then turning to yell at Casey she asked, “Hey! Are you still a Foot Clan member?”
Half scowling, half pouting, Casey said, “No. I’m not.”
Tina fully calmed down at that, then said, “Oh! Congratulations then. I’m glad we’re on the same team now.”
Casey only huffed at her comment and April clapped her hands loudly together and said, “You know. I’m hungry. Before we go thrifting let’s split a pizza.”
“It’s a plan. Let’s go,” Sunita said as she grabbed Tina’s arm and walked with her into Run of the Mill Pizza as the cute couple followed.
April, Casey, and Sunita all ate a pizza while Tina stuck with eating a salad. Then the four of them made their way to the Open Market, a farmer’s market type place where you can buy anything from food and spices to clothes and books. Every Saturday, they have a special surprise sale that they unveil on the last hour of the Open Market with the theme being the only hint anyone gets for knowing what the surprise might be. That theme, this week, being old fighters.
Tina was walking beside April as they watched Sunita, and Casey admire some accessories like spiky bracelets and galaxy themed necklaces.
“So you know about the Foot Clan too, huh,” April casually asked.
“Yah. My family only tussled with them when the organization decided to hurt yōkai or plants and animals in our care, but we don’t fight them often. My dad and I did do a lot of pranks on them though. I kind of zeroed in on her love of Lou Jitsu and I decided to mess with her the most, but that was then, and this is now.”
“I can’t say I wouldn’t have done the same thing back in the day.”
Tina smiled at that. Then her smile lessened.
           “Hey. Is Mikey okay?”
April fiddled with her varsity jacket zipper as she said, “It’s hard to say. He still smiles and cracks jokes like he’s always done, but his paintings and drawings look a lot more… horrific than what we normally see him create.”
Tina hummed to herself as she thought about what April said, then she said, “Well, at least he has his family, and we can try finding him a therapist too. I know there are therapists down here somewhere.”
April put an arm around Tina’s shoulders and squeezed her into a half hug, “Thanks. I’m sure they’ll appreciate that!”
“Hey April,” Casey shouted from a thickly draped clothes stand, “I found some jackets you might like!”
April ran over to her girlfriend to see the new jackets and Tina spotted some ancient books that she thought looked cool.
The four girls wandered the Open Market finding things that they liked and enjoyed. April collects jackets even though she only ever wears the green varsity jacket she has on now. Casey enjoys finding jewelry that has themes of death, or bugs, or is shiny. Sunita is more of a foodie and would buy samples of what the venders are selling. Tina liked buying really old things, things that would be considered antique or cursed with age like books or old dolls or hats that aren’t made anymore.
As they shopped Tina noticed that Casey was basically avoiding her. Sure, Casey would answer her if she asked her a question, but it was always a short, sometimes one word answer, and Casey wouldn’t actively try to talk to Tina. She got the hint. Casey was still upset with her about all the Lou Jitsu merch stealing she did, so she wasn’t going to force anything and keep her distance. Much to April’s supposed dismay considering how much she was trying to get her girlfriend to find some common ground with Tina.
It was the final hour before the Open Market closed and there was an announcer that spoke over the chatter of the crowd.
“NOW FOR THE REVEAL OF THE DAY!” the disembodied voice said as a large table draped in a tarp slowly lowered into the middle of the Open Market, “IN TODAYS THEME OF OLD FIGHTERS WE HAVE,” the table was low enough to see the contents on the large table as the tarp was pulled away, “CHICKEN CHANG’S CLAW SPURS! GLORIA OXINGTON HORN BRACLETS! LOU JITSU’S DISCO GLOVES! AND WÚ AAHOOO’S WOLF BRUSH! ALONG WITH OTHER SMALLER DONATIONS FROM FIGHTERS AND PREVEIOUS OWNERS OF ITEMS! HAVE FUN!”
There was a pause as everyone processed what the disembodied announcer said. Then fighting ensued. The four teenage girls were squished together by everyone around them fighting to get the rare collectables. The four of them were a good quarter mile or less away from the display table, and the four of them would have to fight through the entire crowd if they wanted even a scrap of today’s special.
Tina put her newly bought book into her bra, got out her fan from her dress pocket, grabbed Sunita’s slimy hand and yelled at the other girls, “Hold on to us!”
April grabbed Sunita and Casey held on to April. Tina then opened her fan as wide as she can with one hand, then she swung her arm down hard towards the ground. In an instant, the four girls were in the air. As they were raising into the air, Tina looked back to make sure everyone was holding on to each other, and they were. Casey looked terrified, April looked elated, and Sunita looked mystified as they soared on the updraft that Tina created.
Farther behind her, Tina saw she essentially made a crater out of fallen over people from the force of her wind. She cringed guiltily at the sighed, but immediately turned her attention back to in front of herself as she felt them beginning to fall. She fanned their feet so that they’d stay in the air longer as they sored towards the display table in the middle of the market.
           “What do you ladies think?
           “This is amazing!” April said.
“Is this how you normally travel?” Sunita asked.
“If this is how I die, I’m going to haunt your ass!” Casey cried.
“No! Guys! I mean who wants what? Casey and I will obviously get the disco gloves so what about you two?”
“Oh! The horn bracelets sound fun for me,” Sunita said.
“I’m getting that hairbrush. I bet a brush made for werewolf hair will work great on black hair,” April stated.
“Alright! Let’s brace for impact,” Tina informed them as she put less power into her swings for keeping them afloat.
As they fell, they kept an eye on the crowd that was tearing themselves apart and trying to keep each other away from the goods, like crabs in a bucket. The closest anyone in the crowd has gotten to the table is by knocking over a few of its items. The girls landed on the border of the fighting ring, just a few steps away from the table full of valuable goodies.
Tina immediately ran up to the table and grabbed their assorted goodies, but when she turned around, she saw that the other three got caught up in the crowd. April’s hair was being pulled on by a gorgon’s snakes, Casey looked like she was picking a fight with a giant half man half moth guy, and Sunita was trying to avoid the random wrath of a snow woman that was trying to freeze her “feet” to the floor.
Tina sighed at the sight, because she knew she landed them far enough away from the crowd. She paid for their items by putting cash into a floating container, then she pocketed the gloves and horn rings and stuffed the hairbrush into her bra with her book. Then she flipped the table into the crowd near her friends. There was a pause as the crowd saw how close the rare items were. The snow woman that was attacking Sunita pushed her aside and dived for a pair of very sparkly shoes. Soon everyone was doing it, just to try and grab an item.
Tina weaved through the crowd to get to Sunita.
“So, do you have any cool tricks that you can do,” Tina asked her as they were being buffeted by the crowd.
“You know what? I do actually,” the slime yōkai said with a toothless smile.
Sunita’s humanoid shape blurred and bulged as she grew. Then like a stormy wave at sea, Tina was swept away in Sunita’s slime as she glided through and over the other customers. Tina grabbed the back of April’s jacket as they went by, pulling her into the goo tsunami. When the three of them spotted Casey, who was still fighting the mothman who looked like he was now trying to get away from her, April grabbed Casey’s hand that was holding the mothman’s severed antenna and pulled her into the goo with them.
“Jeez girl,” Tina said at the sight of the antenna, “Did you really have to rip his ear off?”
“He kept insulting Lou Jitsu’s good name,” Casey said as she threw the antenna into the crowd.
“Alright then,” she said, silently admiring her ferocity.
With a splash, Sunita shrunk herself back down to her humanoid size as they made it outside the Open Market. The three girls spun around, slipping on Sunita’s extra slime. April and Casey held onto each other, keeping each other balanced, while April giggled loudly, and Casey looked at her fondly. Tina managed to stay on her feet for a few seconds before one foot slipped from under her and she fell hard on her back.
“Oh no!” Sunita said as she went up to the fallen girl, “Are you okay?”
“Yep. Just help me up,” Tina said like she was speaking while holding her breath.
She sighed as she was pulled back up onto her feet, then she said, “Alright. Let’s find a quieter place than this to talk.” Then Tina started walking to where the community garden/park was.
           Everyone else followed.
It was nice and serene at the community garden/park. No large yelling crowds, no mechanical smells, and no immediate violence. Just the quiet sounds of a community working together to feed each other.
“I haven’t been here before,” April said as she looked around at all the plants that were thriving in the underground city.
“Yah, this is my favorite place to hang out at when I come here,” Tina said.
“I never liked it,” Sunita said, “It just felt too quiet.”
Tina shrugged at that, then pulled out the things she bought for everyone.
She handed Sunita her horn rings and she watched her slide them up her slimy arms to hang onto where her biceps would be if she was human. Tina then handed April her werewolf brush and the black girl immediately took her hair out of their double buns to test it out.
“Oh heck yah,” she said as the hair brush was smoothly going through her hair.
Then Tina handed the pair of gloves to Casey.
Casey looked at her skeptically, then asked, “Aren’t you going to take one of the gloves?”
“No. My dad has enough paraphernalia. Besides I got this,” Tina said as she pulled her book out of her bra. Showing to Casey that it’s a history book about musical instruments in Japan, “Isn’t it neat?”
“I mean. I guess. But wait. You don’t keep the Lou Jitsu stuff?”
“No. I’m sick of Lou Jitsu, but my dad absolutely loves him. Actually—”
“—How can you say you’re sick of Lou Jitsu! He’s the greatest star Hollywood’s ever seen and—”
Tina put a finger to Casey’s lips and continued, “Actually do you girls want to come over to my house before you go home. You all can see my dad’s Lou Jitsu collection, and you can see all the stuff I took from you again.”
Casey grabbed her wrist and said, “I’m just going to steal them back.”
Tina laughed at that, then with a smile said, “I’d like to see you try,” then turning to the other two she asked, “Are you guys in?”
“Yah! I want to see what a Tengu’s house looks like,” Sunita said. Then she stuck a shield shaped broach to her chest and suddenly she was looking purely human. She looked Indian Asian with short black hair cut into a bob, has a gold nose piercing, and was wearing a pink blouse under a magenta-colored dress with white mary jane shoes.
Tina thought she looked really cute in that dress.
“Sure I’d love to see it,” April said, “I’ve only went over to your place once and I need to thank your dad again for helping Mayhem.”
“Awe, it’s no trouble at all,” Tina said as she got out her skeleton key and drew a doorway to the surface. Tina first checked to make sure they were clear to exit, and they were, so she said, “Alright. Let’s go.”
“Hey, how come you’re able to draw a door anywhere but the special keys that we have can only open a special entrance?” Casey asked.
Tina hopped through the doorway as she said, “Well, my key has a special name for it. A skeleton key. Do you guys have a skeleton key?” Then she took off her golden eagle broach and she looked like her human self again.
“No,” Casey said simply as she walked through.
Sunita looked at Tina skeptically as she accidentally tripped through the doorway and asked, “How did your family get their hands on a skeleton key?”
Tina shrugged and hummed an I-don’t-know at her.
“Well, whatever,” April said as she jumped through the doorway and it disappeared behind her, “It’s convenient and I’m down with that.”
           Tina smiled at that.
The four of them hailed a taxi and made it to Tina’s place to spend the rest of their day at.

(Sorry if y’all saw this already, it got deleted when I changed my username)
rules: answer the questions and tag nine people (mine won’t be that many lol) you want to get to know better
Tagged by @woozapooza, thanks whale gal xx
3 ships: Stewy/Kendall (Succession), either Jackson/Reid or Jackson/Drake (Ripper Street) I keep waffling between them so and gonna cheat and list both, and I noticed my first Medici fic is coming up on its first anniversary so I’m gonna be nostalgic and say Lorenzo/Francesco
last song: I’m predictable as all out so it was Joanna Newsom, “Sapokanikan” which I always want to rec to Breaking Bad fans due to the Ozymandius references (I mean I guess this means I want to rec it to Shelley fans as well...? Lmao)
last movie: Wong Kar Wai’s “Fallen Angels”, I’m working my way through the Criterion Collection box set of his films and this one was my least favorite so far lol whoops but his gay-themed film is next so I have that to look forward to while I chill out after getting my first vaccine tomorrow (!!!!!!)
currently watching: Almost done with the penultimate season of Ripper Street and am an emotional goo pile over the main characters, I’m gonna have separation anxiety from them when the show is over. On season 4 of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia and am eager to reach the what I know is iconic finale even while I’m trying to savor going at a steady pace. I stg I am always hearing Charlie yelling in the back of my head, boy is louuuuud and I live for it. And I’m watching Succession for the third time both to enjoy it and to try to get ideas for new meta pieces. I want to make a portfolio lol
currently reading: “Shirley” by Charlotte Bronte, I’m back on a Bronte kick and this one is slow going but I still savor every sentence. I would love to get a Bronte tattoo, all four of their signatures would be so cool.
currently craving: to hang out with a friend lol I have seen no friends since February of last year and my soul feels pretty downtrodden :( I also want to write a new fic but I have only a vague-ish premise that’s not enough to expand on yet and I pine because writing is so enjoyably life-affirming. It will happen...
Been having fun lately with my pals @original-art-hoe and @lorenzoxfrancesco in the Matteo Martari chat so gonna tag you guys if you feel like doing this, no worries if you don’t, just wanna say that it’s always a good time with you two and I really value our time hollering about our guy together. ❤️

Janus’ Playlist
AHH JANUS' PLAYLIST LETS GOO
Not that anyone asked for my opinions
Okay so I'd like to start by saying that Thomas, Joan and Talyn did an amazing job on this playlist because every song fits Janus so perfectly.
Here are some of my thoughts on the songs and some interpretations I came up with or found on the internet.
Trigger Warnings - abortion. Mocking of religion.
Black Hole Sun - okay at first I was like 'wow this is really smooth and nice and the vocals are so sweet.' Then I heard the lyrics. "In disguises no one knows,
Hides the face, lies the snake". It's such a Deceit song and I imagine him dancing to it (with or without a partner).
Black Hole Sun by Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox, Haley Reinhart
It Seemed That Better Way - holy heck, can I point out that this song is such a bop? Leonard Cohen has such a soothing voice and it reminds me of Patrick Page (aha Hadestown) and if Janus wasn't played by Thomas, I could imagine this as his voice. The song is about not knowing what the truth is and what to believe, and has religious meanings which could be countering Patton and his Catholic beliefs.
It Seemed The Better Way by Leonard Cohen
Anywhere - I feel like Patton would hate this because the first line is "It's a beautiful world if you've been lied to by parents and priests". Anywhere describes how the world isn't a beautiful as it may seem, and that people lie to make you see it.
Anywhere by The Scarring Party
Talking At The Same Time - it is immediately dark and that everything seems fake and a... Lie. A lot of Deceit's songs are about the truth or that everything is a lie and I have to give massive kudos to Thomas, Joan and Talyn because they did an excellent job portraying Janus through his music taste. The song describes how everyone talks at the same time, and what I interpret that as is that everyone says the same thing over and over. It's hard to explain so I'll let you make your own interpretations of it.
Talking At The Same Time by Tom Waits
all the good girls go to hell - I'm not going to lie (ha) but I don't like Billie Eyelash, but I'll see past the artist. My first thought when I saw the song without hearing it is that it's a good choice and Janus probably loves Billie Eilish. Spotify has meanings of songs so I'm going to go off there: "This song is in the perspective of the Devil / no matter how good you are, desperate measures will eventually break you / turn you into bad." I feel like Deceit would sing this around the house. This song is twisting Christian symbolism and the lyrics can be interpreted as Eilish praising people who go to hell as it's better than being morally good. (Also, just switch Peter with Patton)
all the bad girls go to hell by Billie Eilish
Denial - KDJIEKAKSNDENIAL? In Putting Others First, Janus is referred to as Denial and now this song? Everyone start clapping for Thomas and his team. Anyway, the song discusses themes of conflict within a relationship, and the denial and insecurity of being in a relationship near it’s end (source: Genius). Also, Roceit vibes?
Denial by The Vaccines
Trust In Me - first of all, heck yeah! I predicted this song to be on his playlist because it's a slimy snake song from Disney? Hello this is Thomas? I think it's a great song and Johansson's voice is angelic. Kaa is manipulating and hypnotizing Mowgli, and if Deceit could do the same you can bet your bottom dollar he would sing this. We love our not-evil snake boi.
Trust In Me by Scarlett Johansson
Razzle Dazzle - Janus singing this with Roman? Yes please? Okay so I get that this is a villian song, and I love that, but imagine Deceit in a shiny sequenced dress? I also haven't seen Chicago yet so I'm going off what I've heard - this song describes how it is too easy to put on a show and make the audience happy. Basically, acting is just professional lying. The line "Though you are stiffer than a girder they'll let you get away with murder" is so clever (no spoilers but he had it coming)
Razzle Dazzle by Richard Gere
[SLIGHT HADESTOWN SPOILERS]
When The Chips Are Down - I hecking love Hadestown so you can bet I squealed when I saw this song. This song is sung by the fates, who are portrayed at untrustworthy. The title of this song is derived from the idiom “when the chips are down”, meaning “when a very serious and difficult situation arises”. Eurydice is in potentially one of the most serious and difficult situations she could be in: her life is at stake. After Hades invites Eurydice to come with him to Hadestown, the Fates appear and encourage her to consider his offer. They tell her that she should look after herself now that she is starving and the “chips are down”. (Source: Genius). In my own words, the fates are convincing (or manipulating if you will) a poor helpless girl to put herself first and save herself. It also mentions how if you be good to get into heaven, you get a knife in the back.
Go listen to Hadestown, it's an incredible soundtrack.
When The Chips Are Down by Anaïs Mitchell, The Haden Triplets
[TW! Abortion]
Mandy Goes to Med School - okay so this song is about abortion, so we'll have to go off context. Mandy (or Amanda Palmer) has to pay for Medical School by giving abortions in an alleyway with a coat hanger, so I interpret this as having to do shady stuff to get what you want. I think him and Remus would enjoy this song together. I'd also like to note that Logan had a song by Amanda Palmer in his playlist... That isn't relevant but I wanted to note that.
Mandy Goes to Med School by The Dresden Dolls
I Put A Spell On You - 50SOG vibes? I really like this song, it has a nice rhythm and the lyrics are so creepy. This gives me vibes of Deceit cornering/pining another side/love interest because if our baby boy wants to be happy, he should. This is similar to Trust In Me because it talks about enchanting someone to get what you want. "I don't care if you don't want me, I'm yours right now." Chills. Janus singing this song would complete my life.
Also the singer calls the love interest daddy but we ain't shaming
I Put A Spell On You by Nina Simone
Evil Night Together - well the title has evil in it so... Perfect for our Evil Snake Boi. This song gives me huge Demus/Receit vibes because it's basically like "let's go on a date in the creepiest place."
What if we drank a drink in the torture chambers... Haha jk ...unless 🥺
Evil Night Together by Jill Tracy
Don't Tell Mama - another musical song? Roman would be impressed. This song is about an English singer, who's mother thinks she's in a convent (a nun), when really she's in a German s3x club. You can really tell why it would be so bad if her secret got out.
Don't Tell Mama by John Kander, Joel Grey, Jill Hawarth, Cabaret Ensemble, Harold Hastings
You're A Cad - definition of a cad: a man who behaves dishonourably, especially towards a woman... This song has a nice beat and gives me TikTok vibes, but it also gives me Moceit vibes (I say vibes too much) because the singer is saying "you're a villain, a cad, a rascal... But I'm like a fish on a hook for you and I still want you." Also, she has a sweet tooth?
You're A Cad by the bird and the bee
As Far As I Can See - all aboard the angst train, CHOO-CHOO "As far as I can see, nobody loves me. As far as I can tell, nobody loves you either" this song gives me such Roceit vibes because the meaning is pretty simple: if nobody loves Janus, then he'll take everyone down with him. I knew there would be that one song that tries to make me cry for our poor baby.
As Far As I Can See by Phantogram
Criminal - first of all, the cover is beautiful. Apple describes the song as “a description of feeling bad for getting something so easily by using your sexuality.” She also told in an interview: "One of my friends said to me, “Oh yeah, of course you aren’t writing.” So I was like, “The next time you see me, I’m gonna have a new song.” I wrote “Criminal” in 45 minutes when everyone else went to lunch because I had to have a hit. I can force myself to do the work, but only if someone is right up behind me." Which is the level of pettiness I see in Deceit and I am here for it. The context of the song is seduction and manipulation, so Janus using his sexuality to manipulate the other Sides is a cursed thought.
Criminal by Fiona Apple
Change - if any of them listened to Lana Del Rey, I sort of expected it to be Virgil. Change shows how Del Rey has matured, and I feel like it also portrays Janus' ability to adapt. "Change is a powerful thing... I'll be able to be honest..." Does this mean he's trying to change? Will we get more character development? LIGHT SIDE JANUS?
Change by Lana Del Rey
Devil In The Details - this song is about trusting the wrong person and taking advantage of something. "I am the first one I deceive if I can make myself believe the rest is easy.". More angst, yay.
Devil In The Details by Bright Eyes
Come Little Children - if you had a My Little Pony phase, you probably know this song. Come Little Children, also known as "Sarah's Theme" and "Garden of Magic," is a song sung by Sarah Sanderson in the film, Hocus Pocus to hypnotize children to lure them. Manipulation: a common theme.
Come Little Children by Erutan
Into The Unknown - I was really shocked to see this song until I realized, no, it wasn't the same iconic theme from Frozen 2. This short song is from Over The Garden Wall, a show Thomas watches but I have not. "If dreams can't come true, then why not pretend?" The show plays heavily on the battle between dreams and reality (source: Genius). The way I see this, Janus is convincing the Light Sides to do something, or specifically Roman to make his dreams come true through selfish means.
Into The Unknown by The Blasting Company
This playlist is one of the best because every song had me saying “Janus would so sing this". If you have any thoughts, feel free to comment!
As always, take it easy guys gals and non-binary pals peace out

1. Who’s your favourite character from UT?
Papyrus fyuck yeah, tho Undyne, Asgore and Flowey are very close after UwU❤
2. Who’s your least favourite character from UT?
I think I might have already answered this one, but I like don’t have any character that is like my least fave that much like except maybe Jerry but that’s like a default you dislike him on default bc everyone else do give or take, and bc he is shitty af xD
29. Your favourite UT au:
Gods is it arrogant to say my own?? Because gods I love Seaswap so frikking much man pffkjregknerj
Tho ok if I don’t go with my own, I guess out of the so called main 3 au’s I guess it’s like Underswap?? even tho most of ppl’s takes on it is hella meh for me but my own take and some friends and other ppl’s take on it I just love af, and there is a reason why swap pap is my fucking muse man xD but like there are so ‘smany damn good au’s out there that I srs love it’s hard to pick just one pfft
30. Your least favourite UT au:
Any au that is Sans centric only, like I get why they exist and hey everyone is allowed to do their own thing, but I am just so tired of this constant overpowered Sanses which then get put in situations with a bunch of others like its not fun for me at all its not interesting at all I need all of the characters in an au or most at least not just Sans xD it’s not fun for me at all, but like I said you do you man but that kind of au’s are just not my thing
35. If you could choose one type of food from UT, what would it be?
Crab apple, I wanna feel crabby UwU 🦀
56. Your OTP(s):
Ohh yeess got so many yes, ok Alphyne ofc gotta love them gays UwU the royal guards like yeess, also ship Bratty and Catty allot too tho I love them platonic as well
Sansby is good, Papby too yes, Sansgore yes yes and sansgoriel is also good but maybe not otp but still good, oh and NicePants yes that is some good stuff there too yes
And also ship still a bit of asgoriel, like know that they will never get together again probably which is kind of good too bc it would just be unhealthy af man, but still ship it xD
I did use to ship Frans allot back when I joined the fandom, grown up Frisk ofc ya nasties, not super into it anymore but its still a ship close to my heart as it was my first ye UwU
AND THE DOGS DOG MARRIAGE YES OTP RIGHT THERE YES
57. Your NOTP(s):
Sans and Papyrus, I do not like or ship the classic bros at all its a big no for me xD
Undyne with any guy as I see her as a complete lesbian, like I do at times like a little bit with her and Papyrus but I prefer them bros aye, and then there is classic papgore it just nah not for me
and soriel is a big no too, mostly because I always find it so damn forced, like let a guy and gal be pals without making them into more, no hate or anything on u ppl who do ship it you do you man and i fucking support you, but its just not my thing ye
papyton is also a bit no, like I used to like it allot at first but now its like nah not my thing anymore ye
58. Your BROTP(s):
Undyne and Papyrus ofc! number one brotp right there! Snas and Pap too, Alphys and Mettaton, Bratty and Catty, Sans and Alphys, Undyne and Asgore, there are prolly more but those are the one’s that comes to mind UwU
63. Which ending is your favourite?
Full pacifist fuck yeah! It’s the only ending I have done because I am unable to be properly mean, so only pacifist for me ye UwU
65. Any post pacifist run headcanons?
Yes I got so fucking many!
Like Papyrus becomes the fucking ambassador, and mascot, and is doing such a fucking good job of it
Asgore opens a flower shop ofc
Toriel comes to terms that she too fucked up allot and was at fault for the shit that happened, and she and Asgore kinda reconcile at least so much that they can talk like fucking adults, like she will never forgive him for what he did and he will never forgive himself either, but they will at least become somewhat friends again at least, as I consider them originally been best friends before they got romantically involved and both miss it allot
Frisk eventually succeeds in getting Flowey up with them from the underground because there is no fucking way they are letting him stay down there in his own misery
Undyne and Alphys got the gayest and more anime inspired wedding of all fucking time on the beach
Burgerpants quits his job at Mettaton’s and ends up working for the Nice cream bunny, who I like to call Rupert, where Burgerpants gets his shit together properly and also finds love bc I ship that ok
Mettaton too gets like a proper realism check over the stuff he done and becomes a better person
Dogamy and Dogaressa gets a bunch of fucking puppies together and are so fucking happy
The royal guard do not dissolve but instead becomes the police force because there must be some sort of law enforcement for monsters after all
Sans gets happier and more open about his issues and gets some therapy, all of them that needs therapy gets some because fuck you
Fuck I could go on with this all day because I got so many but these will do for now pfft
68. The funniest situation:
Anything with Papyrus, just just fucking anything with him and Undyne are the fucking best of the whole game man, their calls are so frikking goo and just yeah gerjkgnjekgkje too many I can’t choose just one xD
Undertale ask thingies here

alright its past midnight and i got back from film class an hour ago. I have a japanese test in the morning but something has been bugging the living crap out of me
my film class tonight was in international cinema. we watched a film from India in the 1930s and in that film a woman (she is a prostitute, which is actually relevant for once) literally says "you treat me with respect. no one has ever done that before" while giving this man she just met 5 minutes ago goo goo eyes
theres a lot to unpack here.
on one hand, good on the creators for realizing even in the 30s that sex workers are people too, who dont get even the basic respect they deserve
on the other hand.
why, of all the irritating romance tropes to use, did it have to be That One?
guys, gals, nb pals of all shapes, colors, sizes, abilities, nationalities: a person treating you with basic dignity is not a reason to stay with them. it's not a Main Reason to fall in love with them (though it should definitely be One of your reasons) and it's a dangerous lesson to teach in media
look. my ex treated me like gotdam royalty. but I ended things when I realized my feelings had faded. that was it. end of story. did I feel bad? of course! he was a really great guy who would have been good to me, but that doesn't, in any way, mean that I should have felt obligated to stay with him
I wish media would stop trying to force people to believe that human decency is worth falling in love over

Live blogging 2x02 "Where the Stars Are Strange"
spoilerful and questionably coherent list of things I particularly enjoyed below the cut
Disa! And the adoration you can feel in Disa and Durin's marriage. Good stuff.
Galadriel's scary little daydream. Particularly the weird blocking for her hand makes it look like she's doing the envining of Celebrimbor w/her ring of power against her will
The way Gil-Galad goes to shield his ring when Galadriel says Sauron will use rings to bend the hearts and minds of the people to his will. Very good.
Mind palace mind palace mind palace.
The elves being so afraid of Galadriel falling for Sauron's tricks that they wait too long to act. That's some good classic tragedy troping
Sauron very cleverly showing the elf lady his flogging wounds.
"I can't let him in again" *cut to the love confession log* "he never left. GOOD LORD.
the totally sick bronze masks
ok ok ok so this is a little unhinged, but go with me: when Elrond says "what is beauty when it is born in part of evil" and Círdan says "no less beautiful", if one were a half-maia Celebrían truther one might have a field day with that exchange.
"If you believe they have strayed, do not abandon them" - fuck yes. I am loving Círdan
the design of Celebrimbor's umbrella and the fact that is apparently does not keep him dry at all
Sauron really is playing the "find what your opponent most fears and offer them mastery of it" strategy this season. Expertly done to both Adar and Celebrimbor. We love a little narrative consistency.
"are you weeping?" I cackled. Do you think Sauron was sitting there like "man, this isn't even a challenge"
ooooo that little close up on "to finally create something". because brimby might be an easy fucking mark, but Sauron cannot do this without him. He hasn't done anything on his own and that stings. This is the moment he decides to break Celebrimbor's 1st age wine bottle. cringefail goo guy.
"be at ease" this man is expecting a love confession. He thinks he's going to get his back blown out by this scruffy mortal man. Nope, it's all "make rings for men" and "I'm a wisdom angel". I'll say it, for the way Sauron is about to fuck up his whole life, he could at least do that old man the courtesy of also fucking him.
Elrond's tree patterned tunic! I like it very much.

Lego Batman or It’s Okay To Hug Your Boys, Bruv
I had no intention of writing about this movie; I was looking forward to just chilling with two of my favourite people at the back of Cineworld, enjoying a cheeky tinny, gorging myself on Maltesers and letting the giggles take over. However, and here’s a sentence I never thought I’d write, Lego Batman raised so many important feminist issues I just had to pick up my pen and have my say.
*Lego Batman spoilers follow*
I know this is a blog for the ladies and I’m about to talk about men a lot, but bear with me, there’s good reason. Where feminism is concerned with the equality of the genders, it deals with men’s issues as well, such as the idea of men being able to show emotions or express affection without fear of reprimand for being un-masculine. Lego Batman addresses male relationships spectacularly and in many ways. First of all, in their sheer variety; there’s mortal foes and adopted father and sons across three generations, as well as Batman’s feelings towards his dead biological father. Not only are all of these relationships portrayed, they are validated. Through Batman’s own struggle and decision to finally embrace rather than repress his feelings, the film shows that all of these relationships are okay. It’s okay to love your father, your grandfather, your two dads, your adopted family. It’s okay to love them and to show that you love them, which is depicted through Batman’s eventual willingness to hug everyone.
The Joker is particularly important in Batman’s journey because he acts as an interesting contradiction - of course Batman is good and the Joker is evil, but conversely Batman is closed off and confrontational whereas the Joker wears his heart on his sleeve. He is willing to make himself vulnerable by openly admitting his feelings to Batman. In this sense, the Joker is the emotional good guy, he exposes Batman’s lack of empathy.
The portrayal of this variety of male relationships, all of which are eventually accepted by Batman, is particularly important because this film would have been made with the knowledge that lots of little boys would go and see it. Obviously I know that girls can and should enjoy Batman too, but I think it’s responsible and important that this film was used as a vehicle to portray a wide selection of healthy relationships between men and boys.
Now, back to role models for girls. Barbara Gordon is just amazing in this film. She’s strong, capable and doesn’t want or need Batman do to her work for her (unlike her comically inept father) she wants to work with him. She wants to abide by and enforce the law and to do things properly, using statistics and carefully thought out strategies. I reckon there would be a lot fewer exploding purple and green presents filled with poisonous gas littering Gotham if she was in charge. Also, because the Joker takes the place of Batman’s love interest in this film, after Batman has got over his goo-goo eyes for her, Barbara is free to inhabit the film as his equal, and not the object of his desire. Barbara is a symbol of everything that boys and girls can achieve if they work together. If that’s not an important message for the playground, I don’t know what is.
As far as super villain ladies go, I think this film is the best portrayal of Harley Quinn I’ve ever seen. True, she doesn’t get a lot of screen time and her costume might be less ridiculous than usual purely because it’s harder to be obscene using Lego, but hey, it’s a start. Once again, possibly because the role of the Joker’s love interest is filled by Batman, she is also portrayed as more independent than usual, she’s described as the Joker’s “gal pal”. She’s a maniacal and capable super villain in her own right, able to operate separately and relatively successfully from the Joker.
Barbara’s brief sojourn as Batgirl is also very well portrayed - first of all, she points out how ludicrous the name is for a grown woman; “If you call me Batgirl, can I call you Batboy?” Secondly, she highlights just how many eyebrow-raising, eye-rolling costumes the female caped crusader has had, by cycling through a whole host of them before choosing an iteration that is appropriate, but still bright and fun.
Overall, this film made out of kids’ toys does a much better job of addressing gender inequality than many of its “grown up” superhero counterparts. It imparts many important messages to the children that it knows will be viewing it - messages about healthy, loving male relationships and what can be achieved if the genders work together (mainly that you can put bad guys from a plethora of franchises back into the Phantom Zone, which is no mean feat). The important allegorical significance of this movie probably wont hit these kids for a while  - a girl in my class said it was very mean that the Joker kept saying “hate” and I thought that four might be a little too young for me to start explaining the homosexual metaphors about Batman’s unwillingness to commit to any monogamous, or indeed purely familial, relationship. They’ll get there eventually. In the meantime, it’s important simply that children’s media is exposing them to a variety of unconventional but loving family relationships, and validating them by making Batman say they’re okay, and who’s going to argue with Batman?
Now for some asides:
1. Just the one actually. The “not twenty minutes” microwave joke is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen on screen, with the possible exceptions of the tiny boat and eggs-and-bacon-man in The Legend of Milky Joe episode of The Mighty Boosh. That’s the highest praise I can give.

Yeah, sure, kale, we know. From salads to popsicles to Beyonce’s T-shirt, kale has seemingly taken over. And I’m bored with it. Or at least I thought I was. Then I had a taste of this flavor-filled iteration of our roughage regular from my new gal pal, Anastasia, and my faith in said kale was restored. I saw the culinary light. Anastasia Koutsioukis and her hubby, Ahmet, took their style x restaurant background and opened Mandolin in Miami – a taverna that is as transportive to the Mediterranean as a flight itself. Nick Jones of Soho House was so goo-goo-ga-ga over the concept (and the kefta kebabs) that he had them open an outpost in Soho Beach House in Miami, followed by the recently opened Soho House Istanbul. And I get why – this dynamic duo has a taste level (both for flavor and, well…flava) that make their concept and dishes irresistible. Let’s call them arbiters of cool, who can take the ordinary to extraordinary with simple ingredients turned up a notch. Such is the case with this recipe they’re sharing with The Tig – let’s just say that this is not your mama’s kale salad. Unless your mama is Mrs. Mandolin, in which case, you lucky duck, you. Thanks guys! DIRECTIONS Remove kale stems and cut the bunches into long, thin, ribbon-like strips. In a big bowl, whisk extra virgin olive oil, lemon juice, chopped shallots, honey, salt and hot pepper flakes together to create an emulsified dressing. Add your sliced kale and chopped dates to the dressing. In a dry pan, toast almonds over medium heat until they turn a golden color. Add toasted almonds and grated/shaved Kefalograviera or Parmesan cheese to salad and give it a good toss, mixing all the ingredients together.

Prince Logan
I was told to put this tiny thing I literally wrote in WhatsApp on tumblr...it’s not goo but here it is lol.
Once upon a time in a far away land there lived a beautiful prince stuck in a tower, who went by the name of Logan. Logan, who was a scholarly type, had been locked away in this tower since he turned nine years old, in hopes of finding him a proper suitor able to protect and cherish him. However, they locked him away in an old wizards tower, meaning he had access to many magical texts and tomes to pass the time with. Eventually, when he had read every book several times over and perfected everything he could, he cast a spell that slowly broke down the towers walls and set him free. He travelled back to his parents kingdom on the back of a conjured unicorn, and greeted the gatekeepers with the typical royal greeting- “hello my guys gals and no binary pals”- and carried on. When he arrived to greet his parents in court, they wondered where his suitor was. He conjured up a shower of sparkles over himself as he presented himself as his own suitor. According to the law of the land, because he had freed himself he would rule as he leased with no suitor or loved to hold him back. And his kingdom flourished and he eventually found himself a lovely husband who cared for all of their subjects worries. The end
