POSTING ARES HCS BC HE NEVER GETS ENOUGH ATTENTION

(This is actually canon): It was referenced multiple time in the series “Trials of Apollo” that Ares will often make dirty (inappropriate)-jokes and generally joke around with Apollo about certain things.

Which bring me my headcanon that Apollo and Ares get along because they are the black sheep’s of the family. Apollo will get emotional and start trauma dumping in him, while Ares is sitting there like “that’s rough buddy.”

More headcanons now:

Ares is actually one of the neutral gods in Olympus. (Along with Dionysus, Hades, Athena). Which makes sense why he keeps switching sides mid battle, but even though he does that—other Gods still tolerate him.

He will often be the troublemaker. Often sending horrible pranks to other Gods like creating terrifying & disgusting monsters and send it to Apollo/Hermes/Demeter etc. and blame it on Apollo/Hermes (which usually works because they’re all tricksters).

Demeter doesn’t hate Ares since he would often protect village crops from priests back in 399B.C

I feel like he’s the type of God to have a terrible soft spot for very specific things but would not admit it because he has an image to maintain.

Athena and Ares act like siblings in private meetings and can generally have a nice conversation about battle strategies.

When Athena and Ares were kids they would be on Mount Olympus while silently judging whoever passed them while making nicknames of the people around them. So now, as adults they have a lot of inside jokes but refrain from using them around others.

Hephaestus and Ares are really f’ king awkward around each other for no reason whatsoever. Maybe it’s the fact that they don’t really know how to make friends or not used to making them. But Ares is the God that sends the most requests from him and often praises him (but not to his face). -(which reminds me of when Apollo said he gives encouragement to Hephaestus when he’s working, canon btw).

Ares gets shy very often but has to look strong and unfazed even when his face is red. Most gods just assume that he’s so mad that he turned red.

Other times when he looks like he’s about to pop a blood vessel on his neck & forehead simultaneously, he’s actually trying not to burst out laughing.

He finds his own jokes and thoughts entertaining and has a hard time controlling his facial expressions when he thinks of something stupid. Sometimes he says some of them out loud, other times he keeps it to himself bc most of his jokes don’t even make sense unless you hear his full thoughts.

When the Gods of Olympus first met Ares when he was introduced, everyone thought he was a lot more handsome then they assumed. He usually had a helmet on that covered most of his face and during banquets he would just show himself as smoke (not a person), so when they saw him they thought he looked attractive.

Ares finds it embarrassing to see sculptures of himself. In one of them, you can see him trying to cover up his private areas. He thinks that that is no place for people to see. Which is why he never enters museums.

His favourite meals are burgers, fries, fish n’ chips, (Americanised) Chinese food.

Doesn’t like wine that much, but prefers beer.

(Canon) Since Apollo Said that the Gods have game nights in Mount Olympus,

(headcanon) Ares is the instigator during heated discussions about who is cheating or who won. Ares actually controls his temper well & isn’t the one throwing a tantrum, but rather it’s the other Gods who do so. Athena doesn’t care so much as she believes she can spent her intellect in something worth giving it for, but it’s everyone else that is like that. Hephaestus and Hades are never invited, until after the P.J. Series where they finally accepted him to the table. Hephaestus never truly shows up, he’s awkward and is very insecure about how he smells, looks and gets anxious. If he does ever play, he’s completely quiet and tries to take up as less space as possible. They often put Zeus & Hera/Athena/Artemis at each ends of the table. But everybody let’s Zeus win every once in a while bc he’s a sore loser and nobody has the time & energy for another conflict, not even Ares himself.

When Ares first understood the extent of his powers & realised he could control dead people from the underworld, Hades had to tell him to stop because he needed the labour.

Ares deepest, darkest secret is that he watched children’s movies. But in public cinemas or with other gods/people he will watch action movies.

He secretly wishes that he had a loving family. Over 3 millennia’s of being alive - he is bound to think of things like that at least once.

(Canon) Apollo Said that Zeus used to sing songs during banquets before he was born—

Headcanons: if Ares was alive at that time, he would probably laugh in a corner while listening to him and he would get grounded by his father.

Rewatched 'Crushed Out' (Ep 6B) and just wanted to talk about how it plays into my headcannons!

SOOOOO this is the episode where Dylan falls in love with Portia. It plays some impact in how I view Portia's character, but I also see it as a good look at Dante to (H'es my favourite character, can you tell?).

Dante is shown to be almost gleeful at helping Dylan be 'more goth.' by making him destroy the things he loves.

However I always found this a bit... odd. Dante seems like a good kid, who knows when things go too far regarding his siblings feelings, at least when he's mentally well (Read not 'Dante's Inferno' ep.) Yet he's causing Dylan so much emotional pain here. However the more I thought about, the more I realized that's not really what Dante's happy about. I'm willing to bet that whenever Dante hangs out with his family or even just Dylan and Dante 1 on 1, they usually do what anyone BUT Dante wants to do. Not because they don't care about him but because his interests aren't as universal as other activities. This is Dylan doing stuff Dante is into. Nihilism. Goth culture. Dante is happy Dylan is doing what Dante wants to do!

Another reason I think this is true is because what happens when Dylan finally breaks? What happens when Dylan doesn't care anymore (Or is better acting like it)?

Dante doesn't look happy about it.

I mean, he's not worried either, but he's not excited or even just smiling a little, or looking smug/pleased. He's just... this. He doesn't even change expression until the next scene. What I think is going on with Dante is that he's... mildly concerned. Maybe wondering if this is actually good for Dylan or what Dylan really wants. However I think he chooses to listen to what Dylan and Fergus are saying over what he's seeing. The last time we see Dante this episode is when Dylan shows up to dinner. Its hard to make out his expression but maybe he is just silently supporting Dylan's new look.

WHICH launches me into my next talking point. Character ages.

Its often stated in promo material and the show bible that Dylan and Dolly are 'tweens.' AKA 11-13. I never really believed that. They're in charge of how many kids? Day and night? Along with taking them out to places? Plus with the amount of dating Dylan and Dolly do, I always found it a bit odd for that age range. I do have some theories for this though. That age group may have been used just for pitching. Animation companies hate using protagonists over 14 for their main characters. (Glances at Amphibia and the Owl House respectively. Then Glares at Infinity Train.) So they just say their characters are this age and have them act older. Or this detail was left on the cutting room floor along with other stuff. I actually see Dylan and Dolly closer to young adult. 17 or a little older? Still irresponsible in places but responsible in others.

Why do I bring this up here? Well because after the dinner scene, Fergus and Dylan go to the Cat's Canal gig. You know, the goth rock event.

So the big question here is... WHY DIDN'T DANTE GO?! Its just Fergus and Dylan that went! Despite this being Dante's thing!

One theory could be that Dylan didn't want to watch him AND try to catch Portia's attention. However I think its more that Dante isn't actually old enough for and event like this. I head cannon Dante at 14 in the show. Gigs like this can have drinking,drugs and other things that Disney won't show you XD. Dylan, around 17 or 18, would be able to go and likely have safe judgment. Dante would not.

COURSE this is all just headcannons of me looking too closely at a children's cartoon! What do you guys think about this? Love to hear your ideas!

I love all the turtles but have differing opinions of them across itterations.

Raphael is such a great character with so much potential and I think that this potential isnt explored enough in any of the series really - though I think the same about all the characters really. I know there is only so much you can include in a kids series etc. which is why we have fanfiction!

Obviously everyone associates Raph with anger issues, but I really dont; I think the first thing that comes to mind when I think of Raph is protectiveness and sensitivity. Raphael definately has issues with regulating his emotions but not much more than any of the other turtles tbh. The main issue with his 'anger' is that he resorts to violence first while others like Leo or 2012 Donnie resort to shouting first. ya know? Siblings argue and are competitive, especially when you live in the sewers with no one but your father and brothers for company. They're teenagers who only really have each other, so of course they're gonna act kinda odd and sometimes innapropriate to us - humans who have grown up in normal society.

When it comes to the canon relationships, I can't see Raph with a human. full stop, I personally dont see him attracted romantically to humans. I enjoyed 12!RaphMona, I like the fact that Raph crushes on a woman who can beat him up, its cute and their relationship is cute puppylove which is refreshing, but I enjoyed it more as an idea than the actual episodes that were shown, sorry I cant get over the betrayal (he deserves to be happy tho). Would have loved more episodes about Mona adjusting to earth - or Raph trying to learn her language and adorably mispronouncing her actual name. On the other hand 03!Raph aromantic anyone? anyone? just me? okay.

favourite itteration of Raph: I love them all equally!(lie) I would love to say I love them all equally but my favourite always will be: 'Don vs. Raph' by Jhonen Vasquez from SDCC (check it out)

In a brief few words I'll include my thoughts across the cartoon series:

(in retrospect: this is not brief. I wrote much more than I intended rip.)

(tldr: I like the Raphs and want more content about them.)

1987 - uses sarcasm and insults as a defense mechanism because they have lived in a world that continuously rejects them despite saving it over and over. When they meet the other itterations in crossovers they are delegated to 'comedic relief' and no one takes them seriously. So of course they're annoyed about everything half the time. Despite this they are probably the only 'passive' Raphael and can take an insult but doesnt enjoy fighting physically - though this doesnt mean they are incapable of it, they're still a ninja. the 1987 slander is large and unjustified, it's great. There is also not a day goes by that I remember that Raph chose to spend their 'last moments' playing superhero for humans who will never accept them - i think this reflects all the Raph's really. they dont want to be monsters they want to be accepted by humans deep down, even if part of them resents humans for all that they have put them through

2003 - his accent and whole demenour is 'cause he enjoyed movies with characters similar to how he presents himself growing up - obvi. I think he would be that judgemental and protective wine aunt over Casey and April's kids. We know he has a soft spot for kids across all the itterations and he would be every kid's favourite babysitter. He is a wine drinker not a beer drinker and no one can convince me otherwise. Casey thought he was an adult for like at least a year because of the way he sounds and talks, and Casey only realised he was a teenager because Raph rejected a beer etc. Raph was a stickler for 'health' as a teenager - like paranoid about junk food, smoking and drinking fucking up his health and ability to fight etc. As an adult he might drink recreationally but I still see him and Leo as the paranoid ones about 'drinking too much' and getting caught unawares by their enemies. or something.

Honestly though on the first watchthrough of 2003 I was happy that they made Raph progressively get more mellow and all that, becuase 2012 Raph's 'anger issues' were handled so badly. But now as an adult I was like... he deserves to be more angry if anything. Like with everything they go through all the turtles realistically should get more and more emotional as they react to the trauma of everything going on in their lives. So I would like to see more fanfic of Raph in 2003 dealing with his emotions which are too strong to control after the series is over, and how he deals with controlling his emotions. He is impulsive and nearly gets himself or everyone else killed quite a few times - I think this is key. We know his greatest fear is himself becoming the person who hurts his family, so I think this self-loathing is a part of how he deals with his anger issues. His main driving force for everything he does is how he wants to protect his family. But is self-loathing a stable and sustainable way to deal with your emotional issues? You decide!

2007 - following on from that, I see 07!Raph as very similar, especially if 07 follows on from the 1990 movies. Raph is depressed and in denail and becoming a vigilante is just as much out of some obligation he feels to justify his existence (to prove he isn't a monster,) and a way to vent his frustrated emotions at everyone and everything. He is angry with Splinter for sending Leo away but Splinter is his father who (is a bit of a shit dad in the movie lets be honest) demands perfection and respect, he is angry with Leo for leaving and never taking their emotions into account (all four of them have been together their entire life, they have never spent a significant amount of time away from each other and something bad could happen to Leo without Raph knowing or being there to protect them), he is angry at Donnie for being gifted the 'leader role' when Raph barely just adjusted to listening to everything Leo said and hates being told what to do by anyone; his dad, his older brother let alone his younger brother/twin (however you want to see their relationship). He is resentful of his brothers for 'making' him be a vigilante alone and he is angry with himself the most for being unable to adjust to this change and for feeling like if Nightwatcher is taken away from him he might have a breakdown -(he will have no outlet for his emotions). Raph = Angry Angsty Emo Boi. But he is still Raph and he is still soft on the inside, he is just a little traumatised from everything and needs therapy. Unfortunately therapy doesn't work if you dont actively want to change.

2012 - the audhd is strong with this one. Unfortunately when I see 12!Raph I just see myself *sob*. This entire family is so traumatised and have no adults in their life that they can rely on. I said his 'anger issues' were handled the worst: I stedfast believe that his 'anger issues' were simply undiagnosed neurodivergence and that the majority of his emotional outbursts were ENTIRELY JUSTIFIED. His entire family call him the 'angry one' and tread on egg shells around him a lot of the time waiting for him to blow up or just expecting him to and having really irritating (to me) reactions to his emotions. for example, when Mikey ruins his stuff on purpose and Leo just tells Raph that 'posessions are fleeting' or whatever. Like sometimes Mikey is just teasing and riling Raph up to get a reaction, normal sibling behaviour, but sometimes they just go overboard - case en point, Leo's comics being used as toilet paper which he then proceeds to beat Mikey up for. All his brothers piss him off sometimes (on purpose I might add) but there is a big difference between a snide comment and ruining someone's possession methinks. I wouldn't do that to my bro and he wouldn't do that to me - but I understand that the turtles grew up with no one but each other and that Mikey tries to joke around for a laugh and/or attention sometimes. But Splinter singles out Raph in training and nothing that anyone says or does actually helps Raph in his attempts to control his emotions. Not out of maliciousness or anything, just that they dont understand him or incorrectly assume where the anger is coming from (in Splinter's case I think he sees himself and all his own flaws in Raph, clouding his judgement). But ya, Raph's emotional crutch was venting to Spike who was his only friend and his beloved pet... and we all know how that turned out. But also he probably doesn't do the same with Chompy because of how Slash turned out. I think he consciously realises that he only talked shit about his family to Spike and thats why Spike incorrectly assumed he hated his family and was better without them, so now, he consciously choses not to do that. I like to think that after everything the entire family get better coping mechanisms becuase April's dad is a therapist, please by god let him be useful for once. 12!Raph is incredibly protective and incredibly paranoid and rightly so with how their lives have gone, but it isnt a sustainable mindset and he will run himself dry with that if he continutes - much like his brothers.

2018 - this is such a fun take on what things might be like if Raph was the eldest! I like to think that biologically Leo and Donnie are older than Raph but Splinter just aged them based on how big they were and how their development went (Raph talked first or something). Raph is more responsible but still the headstrong idiot that we know and love. I think the protectiveness is inherent to all Raph's and all that, but that deffo stems from an accident in his childhood. I'm thinking he got angry or overstimulated and hurt one of his brothers because he is so much bigger and spikier, which leads Splinter to giving him a few books on anger issues or child psychology - this could also be a fun source of Mikey's interest in psychology. Donnie is canonically ASD and Mikey is canonically ADHD, I think Splinter got some parenting books on neurodivergent kids and helped Raph with his own emotional issues better than in the other itterations. Either that or Raph is repressing, repressing repressing - both ideas are fun to write! But then Raph's whole 'Savage' thing, which stems from getting lost in the tunnels as a kid - we have seen before that mutants can go feral when left alone over time like 12!Splinter. etc. ALSO! never forget that Draxum created them as super soldiers which might imply that they have some propensity for violence ingrained in their DNA and all that - possibly why he used animals instead of humans at first.

Raph also probably had no strict education along with the rest of his siblings, and they all definately grew up on more modern tv which I think separates them from their counterparts a bit - more chaotic than uniform. They get that from their father of course. 18 makes jokes that are self aware and this leads me to believe that Raph is very aware of his issues "tire, laceface - my emotional crutches" he has plushies and physical affection that he relies on to help his self-esteem issues (the clothing episode "i'm a disaster" as soon as he faces a tiny amount of criticism). It's all reading really nerodivergent to me - wouldn't supprise me is every single one of the 18!turtles had issues with rejection sensitive dysphoria.

Raph has eldest dughter syndrome of course but I firmly reject the idea that Splinter was neglectful as a father when they were kids and Raph was parentified, because it's canon that Splinter was involved in his kids lives and did a lot of things with them, including lemonade stands which would have to be playing protend as they were in the sewers, and the Lair Games. But Raph is shown to not really know how to deal with his bros (such as using a baby voice with Donnie and trying to baby Mikey etc). I do not think that my beloved Red raised these chaotic motherfuckers.That being said when they got into their teens they become more independent etc. sneaking around as to not worry their dad (same as 2003 where they go against their dad's orders to stay home multiple times) and there is clear evidence for emotional neglect, especially with the twins. (personal info here: I have an anxious attachment style, but both my parents were present and doting my entire life, they were just not exactly what I needed etc. and worked 24/7 throughout my childhood - I see Splinter to my dad, down to the depressed infront of the TV 24/7 as I got older.) Splinter clearly loves his sons, but with Leo being so similar to Splinter personality wise (similar to 12!Raph I think that Splinter has a hard time connecting because he sees everything he hates about himself but of course he loves it in his son and conflicting emotions etc.) and Donnie having a very independent and headstrong personality, I think Splinter misstepped and needs to fix it properly, but wasnt entire shit.

MM - mutant mayhem Raph looks fucking hillarious and I'm so excited to see him in the series. Easily knew I would love him from the trailer and after watching the movie he looks like he has a great relationship with his bros, even if he can be critical of Leo - which is just teenager behaviour. I loved that in MM the turtles acted like kids, because they are kids and thats how kids act. I also anticipate that Raph might be a bit insensitive while getting absorbed in his own things, which I was thinking would be a fun conflict to write of course. He just wants to beat people up and I love that.

Mikey: you have a violence problem

ritchie’s🎃💀 ABCs of Horror Movie Marathon!! 💀🎃

Horror movie challenge prompted by @quintsmachete

Day Fifteen - O is for Old (2021)

I saw the beach that makes you old.

I don't think anyone in their right mind would go into this movie and expect anything good, unless they were completely unaware of the man behind it and hadn't even seen one of the trailers. I knew to expect stupidity, and stupidity is what I got, so I really don't have a right to complain here.

But not enough of my favourite movie critic youtubers have torn this movie a new one, so give me a minute.

This movie has some of the worst acting I've ever seen. The children were borderline jarring to witness after the performances of the child actors in Let The Right One In, but the adults really aren't much better. I'd argue the parents sounded twice as stilted with incredibly unnatural dialogue that had me both laughing and cringing. The family 'drama' also screams of a writing team where not a single member has ever met anyone who knows anyone who's gotten a divorce. As a child of divorce with two younger siblings, I always find poorly written families like this extremely funny.

The cinematography is nothing special, but there were two types of shots that were especially awful and funny. First is what I can only describe as David Cage style camera angles where nothing is really the focus, there's weird zooms and erratic camera movements, and it genuinely feels like a quick time event is about to happen. Second is extremely zoomed in shots behind the child characters' heads to obfuscate the fact that they've aged rapidly despite the fact that we can hear they sound older AND see that they're taller and their anatomy has changed (and that they're different actors now). I genuinely don't understand why Shyamalan thought the audience would find it shocking to see their faces five whole minutes after we were already told that they're older besides to drill it in for anyone not paying attention.

Speaking of aging, it makes no fucking sense. It doesn't have to make a lot of sense, but with a movie like this it's just begging you to fall into one of the numerous stupid plot holes instead of suspending your disbelief. Everyone ages rapidly but the adults barely change the entire time, particularly the black characters don't change at all, no one's hair or nails grow 'because they're dead cells', bodies decay almost instantly, a baby is born (I'll get to that.) but dies instantly from not receiving enough attention, somehow the cliffs surrounding the beach are rapidly aging everyone via magnets or some shit and trying to leave the beach makes everyone black out but they're just fine walking into it? I know there's more plot holes because I was questioning the movie at least once every five minutes but I didn't take notes and I'm not gonna rewatch it.

I should actually talk about the horror in this movie. There are a few elements that genuinely feel uncomfortable, but not all of them felt like good horror. The few elements that work are inherent to the premise; things even Shyamalan couldn't fuck up when adapting the original graphic novel. Some of the symptoms of rapid aging, like the exacerbation of disorders and impending death, were... occasionally handled well. But half the time, it just felt absurd, and absurdly dark to the point where it was just funny. Or really, really uncomfortable.

Okay. In Shyamalan's defence, two of the kids making a baby is in the source material. The girl going through all stages of pregnancy in like, an hour, is also in the source material. But that doesn't make it any less fucking weird and uncomfortable, and not even in a horror movie way. These kids were six years old about fifteen minutes of screen time ago, them even knowing that much about sex at all is kinda odd but everything that follows is just. I could've gone without ever seeing this shit if I'm being honest. And all that discomfort is almost immediately followed by the baby just, like, dying (it does not die in the novel). And it's wrapped in a blanket and just a bit later when it's moved we just hear bones rattling and ashes trickling out of the folds of the blanket, like... I feel bad, but I laughed. A lot. It's so fucking stupidly dark I couldn't even react any other way. There isn't even anything to mourn; we don't see the baby and I refuse to believe anyone watching this felt anything for any of the characters.

This movie is weird and gross and bad. And funny at times, but mostly bad. There's a twist ending that I saw coming a mile away because it feels like something Bethesda would write. What can I even say about it? It's stupid, polarizing, and as far as I can tell draws no inspiration from the source material whatsoever. It's also just the cherry on top of a fat fucking sundae of plot holes and shit that makes no fucking sense. I have more questions about the twist ending itself than the rest of the movie. I could ask them here but I don't think anyone actually reads these reviews besides one or two of my friends and it's 2:32am and I'm hungry.

I was gonna give this one dead baby out of five, but that seems a little too edgy even for me. And I don't think there's an emoji that can accurately depict a dead baby, so. Uh. This gets one age-inducing beach out of five I guess. 🏖️🗌🗌🗌🗌

Stupid fucking goddamn movie forreal. How the hell did Joe Rogan and Ben Shapiro even figure out how to get out of there by the way.

flattering ask time: baby-verse is an obssession. i love how you put these two totally non-parents weirdos as such a childcare team. like, jasper is fucking frozen because his son - who he feeds, baths, put in bed, play with and cuddles - called him...daddy. i just know parenthood hit him hard with that one.

damage alice is another obssession. as a neurodivergent person myself, it's so funny to me that we both have very similar "episodes".

now the questions about both of these fics: would you say that jasper is more of a warm/soft parent or the emotional distant parent who, at the same time, is always there for his son (since you already told here he is, in fact, a good dad). and, for damage alice, are you going with opportunist cullens who see alice as an experiment or something to be saved because they need to prove to god that they are good people and stuff, or with nice cullens who just want to take care of this little girl and give her a home?

(now, english isn't my first language, so excuse me if there are any mistakes ❤)

I am SO flattered that baby-verse seems to be so loved because Alice and Jasper are, like, the most pro-choice of the Cullens (as a side note, I think Emmett is also pro-choice because he saw first-hand what large families stuck in poverty went through.) So the idea of them juggling a dependent life is kind of insanity. But Alice is a perfectionist, and Jasper is both devoted to Alice and hugely overprotective, so they would figure out something that worked.

For Jasper's parenting style, it's different depending on the angle you look at it from. Jasper is very, very quietly involved. He is incredibly warm with Oliver, and very emotionally available for him throughout his life, but as Oliver gets older (especially once he's in his teens and young adult years), he realizes just how little he knows about his father. Alice also knows that Jasper is an equal parent to her - he knows Oliver's teachers' names, his favourite movie, allergies, crush etc. But to anyone on the outside, it would very much look like Alice was the primary caregiver - even Emmett gives him some hell for letting Alice do a lot of the heavy lifting. Jasper does this intentionally, as a protective thing, as a way to conceal his own vulnerabilities. It also helps when Oliver is just too old to convincingly look like their kid and becomes a cousin or a younger sibling to outsiders. As an adult, Oliver would say that his father is very mysterious to everyone but Alice, but that Jasper was a very good father (much to Jasper's relief. He has a LOT of anxiety over the idea of a 'good' father.)

I started Damaged Alice years ago before I realized and was diagnosed as neurodivergent and it's eye-opening how many behaviours I incorporated that imply Alice is ND. I hate the way that the transformation makes vampires 'perfect' - it's so boring and ableist. Give me Esme with OCD and anxiety, and Emmett with bear-attack scars, and Rosalie who has to wait for her physical wounds to heal and ugh. There is nothing thrilling about straight, white, Mormon neurotypical people.

In Damaged Alice, the Cullens kind of fall in between both categories. There was a plot point that Alice was sent to find the Cullens by the Groundskeeper (who heard about them from Alice and her visions), because they would protect her. There is a letter to explain the situation - I don't know whether I will keep that, honestly, because I like the idea of Alice being a mysterious figure.

But when Alice does arrive and is clearly not NT, the Cullens take her in for protection because they genuinely care about this poor girl's welfare (you can argue that their sentiment is apart of their Good Christian Family act but Carlisle's faith has shaped so much of who he is and how he approaches his family and vampirism, that it's impossible to split the two). At that point, she definitely functions as someone much younger and her newborn state has left her with a lot of feral behaviours and impulse control (there's a temper tantrum in a shopping mall because she wants a pet rabbit).

As time moves on, it's more and more clear that the Cullens have put her in a box because they don't expect her condition to change, when the venom is healing the damage to her brain - it's just a very, very slow process. Even after Jasper arrives and Alice latches onto him and improvement is made, the Cullens still resist letting her evolve and mature. They really expect her to stay childlike and dependent on them. Carlisle has an invested interest in her mental state, being a doctor, and Esme likes having someone she can dote on like a child.

And a lot of Alice's ND behaviours - lack of eye-contact, going non-verbal, meltdowns - are things that the Cullens try to cure her of; and they never really understand that Alice is dealing with excess sensory input because of her visions. A lot of her meltdowns are because of visions (especially when she sees Jasper fighting in the South). And her family really don't understand that. But no family is perfect (especially not families with ND individuals), and Alice and Jasper understand each other here (and in all my fics, lets be real).

Thirty Nine.

One thing about being a parent is that it never stops and my kids never stop having issues either, I have been trying with Tianna, it’s been a battle to get her to do this, to get her to actually come to family therapy, I want to know really because she won’t speak to us so I told her that she either goes there and gets help with us both because clearly she has an issue with how we raised her or how she is like with Rylee because I am not having her in the house being the way she is but she has come, after taking months to accept she is coming here. I want to know if she has what I have or is it her just acting out to get some attention because of her childhood, she says we neglected her but then backtracked. The way I feel like Rylee is a trigger point too, this is the second session here and really the first part was the therapist telling what will happen and why we need to do this do this will hopefully be the main point of it “Tianna your parents are here, this is a safe space now, we have discussed that what is said here is safe for you to say. You said that your sister is not a good person and that your dad has mentioned she is a trigger for you, I want to know more about this. What makes you feel like your sister is a trigger?” she asked her, this is long. I know counselling and therapy in general is long, I mean I am the prime example, look at me still in and out of it “Rylee can do no wrong, and I think nothing in the world can change that. She has a baby and yet she is still the best person, there is favouritism right there” she said “let’s look at it this way, is the issue your sister’ fault or does it stem from your parents? Now let’s just open up the room here, you and your sister grew up together, there is what. A year so your sister and you, you both are children. So what is happening here is that you are penalising your sister for what your parents set out, this wasn’t you and anyone’s fault, it was more the adults raising the children. We as humans are quick to blame the person that is there but not the root cause, and the cause was that like you told me, your parents weren’t ready for another and then it happened. Have you ever asked your sister how she felt when you was born?” she asked her “she hated it, she hated that she had any sibling” Tianna mumbled “but then she had to play role of older sister, it’s easy for your sister to get the brunt of it because she was put there with you, and likewise with yourself. We need to look at the bigger picture. Two parents had their first born, then oh no. Another, which happens all the time, it does. This is not new” this therapist might as well say we are shit parents, looking at Robyn.

Clearing my throat “we are here so Tianna, how did you feel when your parents did this? We are looking at your parents, we don’t need to speak on your sister because we know the root cause for this is your parents. Speak on it, talk to them” Tianna shyly looked at us and then looked away “look at me, they can hear you so speak” this is going to be hard “like I wasn’t wanted really, like I get now. As I grew I get that things happen, but it’s like they made us to be twins but we wasn’t, I knew in my heart Rylee got the contracts, I wasn’t the person they wanted but I was there when my mom pushed for me to be there. They didn’t want me but I was put there because my mom forced it. Seeing that hurt me and you know” Tianna choked out “thinking back, Rylee would say we will be together and she would mean it but my hate for how it all happened tainted it all because you’re right it wasn’t her. Just when we got to teenage stage because of how they did it, we argued and she say it as we do. I fucked up and she didn’t ride for me, I slept with a guy at fourteen and I bought him to the house but just to do something she hasn’t, to throw it in her face because no guy wanted her really, they wanted to fuck her I did it and I saw her with my then boyfriend and laughed like you can’t get this because these boys in school just want to fuck you, she pretty much snitched on me in a way and added to it. I just think we can be close but then my parents favouritism comes out. I just hate being there like an after thought you know” the therapist looked at us “Tianna do you” she paused “do you have an increased sexual activity” I shook my head, I don’t want to know “I don’t know, I mean I have a few. I mean I do it” she nodded her head “you want to be wanted” looking out of the window “I thought I was with Cameron, but then you know what. These men don’t have sex with me for me, half is sexual desire for my mom or my sister” I got up, I can’t hear this “Chris” Robyn tried to grab my hand, but I can’t do it, this is too much .

“Chris” Robyn said “I can’t hear that, I can’t. I am not stepping foot in there” Robyn nodded her head “it’s how she feels, this is her life Chris, she is going through it and we have to be there for her. As sick as it sounds she is right” I swallowed hard “sometimes I am glad that Rylee is with Oakley and sometimes I want to murder him” I shook my head “this is why I said we should have sent her overseas! At that time, this shit could have saved her” Robyn shook her head “that wasn’t the time Chris. Let’s be real” I feel angry as fuck “she needs to get out of America, this place is toxic. We do it in a way of she is helping Fenty, send her overseas. America isn’t good for her, look at her. So Fenty” Robyn’ choked out “ok this is hard for us both but Fenty, we branching out in Australia ok. So I am sending her there to do it. Also the foundation, overseas. I think we need to let her be her own person overseas, you are right with that but not then, she couldn’t go. We fucked up” I clenched my jaw “all those words, all those declines, everything. It was us; we did that to them. I always thought we was good, we loved and adored them but like. I just, I am fucking mad. Sitting back down in the room which of course I had to do, I have to go back in the room because I do support Tianna but not that sense at all “thank you for joining us again, we think we have made a break through here. So speaking as we are about Rylee and how this isn’t your fault, the things you say are conflicting. It’s very my sister is bad but she did this for me, so as we know mom was busy, dad was home. There is Rylee, Tianna and Imani. When dad was busy who was there then?” Looking at Tianna “who would you run too if something is going wrong, mom and dad isn’t there?” Tianna isn’t answering “Rylee” Tianna blurted out “ah right, so this happen a lot. Older sibling turn into parents, Rylee turned into mom. Mom wasn’t home, so Rylee is mom. So she is your comfort; she is always there. Even if you want to argue with, she is there. The most consistent thing in your life, Rylee didn’t abandon you throughout out it. You both may not be twins but you was raised as twins, and now that Rylee has broke away that has made you feel left behind, like a mother leaving her child. Your nastiness you feel more for her is because you feel she left you and she has a new love in her son, she is a mother. And like you said she is in a different phase and that upsets you, you feel abandoned by Rylee, no matter the arguments, fall outs. She was there” Tianna sobbed out, looking at Robyn. That is the crazy “let it out, it’s good to cry” that is really emotional.

Robyn and her bright idea to come out and eat, I am literally pissed off because how wants to hear anything of the sort about your daughter and I just heard that but Robyn wants food. Placing the fork down on the plate, I let out a deep sigh “I am sorry” Tianna mumbled “no, don’t be. Like this is for you, you need to express yourself and we need to hear it. Yeah we haven’t been good with you, I can understand that, and I want to make it right but you need to do this and we need to hear and accept fault. I love you Tianna, and you can spin it how you like, yes Rylee is my first born but you know how I love you girls. You know it Ti, don’t do this to me. I get things turned to be this, but you need to understand your worth and it’s higher than anything on this earth. No man is perfect, not even me. This is why you need to know for yourself and know your worth. I don’t want to hear about the sexual partners you have had or have. At the end of the day it’s you that is suffering when we love you, we do” licking my lips, I am hurt by this, I cannot believe Tianna been doing that “it’s just I feel like, you know after Cameron. I just lost myself even more and then you see Rylee, Imani. Perfection and then me, a mess and like. A big disappointment” shaking my head “no, none of you kids are, I mean as parents we are always going to want the best, but you aren’t that. I know there is more to hear and I want to hear it, just it’s hard to know that I fucked up. I am sorry, I thought by including you it was good, I wanted that for you. I promise you” Robyn said “it made me feel less because at the end of the day, they never wanted me but you pushed it to them” that was on Robyn, I did tell her to not do that but she assumed she was doing good.

Fixing Aziel on my hip as I made my way inside the apartment building “it sucks that like this place is fifteen minutes away from west” I said “Miss Fenty?” this guy said “hi yes” I said “I am Napier, the agent you was speaking too” letting out an oh “nice name” shaking his hand “thank you” he really has a different name “well I like the look of this and honestly it’s just me and my son, I want it to be two bedrooms” looking at Kayson “take him” I said “that is fine, please follow me. There is a twenty four hour concierge here, pool and gym” this place looks so fancy, it is more fancy then what Oakley got, this is luxury, I can pay for my own shit anyways. Stepping into the elevator “there is a reception room, also a private balcony, it is highly sought after luxury Cleland House, in the heart of Westminster. State of the art appliances and is fully furnished to a high standard throughout. You come with it all, you just need to move in” I guess that is a bonus “I need that in my life right now, just moving in” I don’t know how to feel, I don’t feel sad. I don’t know if I have just shut myself off from it. I told him I love him and he just switched, like when we got back it all changed and I just don’t know what to feel. I am not going to cry about it, at the end of the day it’s his loss. I just need to bring it up with him, I need to say it to him. I have been quiet about it, he hasn’t come home some nights, I just know something is off, I know it in my heart.

I could easily start to cry my eyes out, I could say he ruined my life but really he got me out of America, he gave me a son and I am enjoying it but it’s really fuck you if so, I am not sure if I want to just leave or speak on it. No matter the outcome, no matter what I won’t have him making me look stupid, I just know something is off and I knew this Kenza thing would be it because they had history, they have a lot of history “Miss Fenty, what do you think?” Napier asked, I was day dreaming “it’s perfect, like I said really it’s just me and my son and I don’t want a house like you offered, I just want something secure and small” looking at Kayson “yeah bro, I don’t know” Kayson is looking at me “erm Oakley seen the car outside and he’s asking how long” is Kayson stupid “how long?” why didn’t you say I wasn’t here” he is so slow “he said he saw us walk in, I did say it was close by” I huffed out “right well, you might as well invite him in, stupid” Kayson just cringed but he is so stupid for that, I didn’t want him to know either.

Smiling at Napier “I will be in contact” I said to him “will you now?” Oakley said “nice to meet you miss Fenty” smiling at him “how?” I said looking at him “literally driving and I see this big guy and you, and you ain’t answering your phone so he told me you here for a viewing why?” looking around us “I am not doing this here, first of all I don’t like where we are ok. My son is there and you have all this gang culture around, I don’t like it. I want to move anyways and on top of that you don’t bother with me like that anymore, you have changed and hanging with Kenza and other women” he wasn’t shocked but just looked away from me “I am not even upset anymore, I am not shocked because she has been around. I just want the truth and really Oakley I am ok enough to just leave, thank you for blessing me with Aziel but yeah, I am not staying with a cheater” Oakley looked at me flabbergasted “you did all this because you jumped to think I am cheating!?” he half shouted “why else have you changed?” he looks so offended by me “fuck me Rylee, you got it wrong. Yes ok, me and Kenza have been talking, did this fat ass just speak on it? Was he the one talking shit in your ear” I shushed him “don’t point at him for your own behaviour Oakley, I have told you to speak to me always, this is on you!” I spat “this is bullshit, let’s go and we can talk then. This dumbass just talking shit, I know it was you, why the fuck would you assume that and jump to do this? Oh my god” my mind is a mess right now “taking my son from me like that” he grumbled walking off, now Kayson is looking in the wrong but he isn’t “funny thing is why the fuck would I have this idiot there if I was, I can’t believe you think I cheated” Kayson sighed out “maybe because your behaviour has changed towards me” he took Aziel from Kayson “maybe I just have a lot of shit going on Rylee, I’m just a little stressed out. I’m not speaking right now, the dramatics Rylee, the fucking dramatics of you!” He spat.

Greetings Siblings of the church! It is ritual night!!!! The party is already in full swing in the church, and I let Aether go off and party with the other ghouls instead of following me around all night. Don't tell ANY of the Papa's, or sister imperator, but Sodo snuck me a bottle of wine, and told me to go off and see Jacob while he distracted the other ghouls enough for me to escape. He's really starting to finally like me, which I'm happy about. I happily agreed and headed off to town. The moon is full, and finally, I feel somewhat at peace. I met Jacob by his house, and we ran off nearby to drink the wine and have a nice time.

Jacob reaaaaly knew how to drink wine- he said red was his favourite. It took me a little to like the taste- it was a little too sweet for my taste, but after a while, we were sharing the bottle and rambling about things that we cared about. It was nice. Jacob's sweet and kind- and I liked sharing the bottle with him. He asked where I got the bottle, and I told him I'd gotten it from one of the ghouls- and then had to explain what a ghoul was. He seemed not suprised. Apparently, he'd figured it out when I brought Mist along the first time. She 'didnt act like a human'. I told him that Mist was gone and about Aether being my ghoul now, and he asked if Aether was going to follow me around like the last three did.

I told him no, and that Aether would mostly do his own thing unless I needed him. He also asked if it was a struggle to get around on my crutches- what I was using to get around. I told him it was, but it was better than having my whole leg removed- which is what would have happened if Omega and the others hadn't been able to heal my leg. After we finished the bottle, we sat around talking for a long time before the moon started to lower and I knew I had to get back before someone noticed I was gone. I walked him back, and that's when we ran into a whole nother priest, and Jacobs mother. Thankfully we'd left the wine bottle at the spot, and thankfully I was just in my normal sweats, as his mother did not seem like she liked me. The priest seemed very, very nice(maybe too nice?) when we came up.

He called himself Father DeFroque, and for some reason, his name sounded familiar. Oh well, maybe I heard it somewhere, or someone in the church had the same name. He was very happy to meet me (for some reason??) and excitedly asked me multiplie questions about the church- even some that I didn't awnser because it was a little too pushy. He told me that he was here to help purge the disrespectful(whatever the fuck that meant) and that he wouldn't hurt us at the Satanic church as we were apparently just misguided sheep. It ended when Aether ran up to us, telling me that I had to go, as the ritual was over, and they were about to lock up the gates for the night. I was very, very happy to leave, told Jacob goodbye and that we'd talk later (I gave him my number, finally. I hadn't yet as my phone had broken last year, and I was posting all of these from my computer) and followed Aether. When we were far enough away, I asked if I was in trouble, and he told me I wasn't, and he was just worried about me as he hadn't been able to smell my scent in the church. He did say that I would possibly be in trouble if any of the Papa's ever found out I stole wine(Apparently he could smell it on my breath), but he wouldn't tell, as I was just a teenager, and teens did stupid shit.

I asked if he knew who DeFroque was and told him what the man sad, but he just shrugged and told me that crazies existed in all religions, even ours. He told me to not worry about DeFroque, but tommorow if I wanted, I could tell the Papa's about him. The party with the adults was still going, but the one for the kids was done, and the younger kids were already in bed. Aether told me there was a party going on with the other teenagers, and I could join, but I told him I was headed to bed, and that he could go back to the adult party. Ritual may have been 'over', but I knew that the adult parties lasted till the early morning.

He agreed, and I headed to my room. Someone had fixed it up, and everything looked much better than it had a few days ago. i changed my clothes and now I'm in bed, updating you all on everything going on. I wonder what was up with that man, though. Father DeFroque. I wonder what was wrong with him.

I’m Mad is possibly one of my favourite segments in the og Animaniacs and you know why?

We get to see the Warners let their guard down and act like they are actually children.

Yakko does big brother things! He gets into a ‘no I didn’t/yes you did’ argument with Dot that continues through the whole segment, and actually seems to be a fourteen year old boy rather than the leader and caretaker of his siblings.

Dot pulls things a little girl would do - accusing Yakko of using her toothbrush, taking her space, etc. and gets mad over the littlest thing.

Wakko complains about things a kid would - no room to move, needing to use the potty, asking how far/are they there yet?

they have monthly movie nights and they alternate who chooses the movie / show (taeil normally goes for mystery or drama themed ones, while aria enjoys making them both sob miserably)

generally aria is a pretty soft spoken person, but not with hyuck around - he brings out all her chaos energy (please pray for the patience of dotae)

the pair have a little tradition of kissing the back of each others’ hands before going on stage for good luck. they can’t even remember how it started, but now its an unnegotiable pre-show ritual

he’s so clingy with her absolutely everywhere its painfully adorable (ಥ﹏ಥ)

yes he complained, but he slapped her hand away when she went to change it to something else

a twitter thread of a czennie comparing their horoscopes together went viral when people realized that it was quite plausible that the pair were each others (platonic) soulmates

after an incident involving blueberries, donghyuck took it upon himself to check the ingredients of every. single. food item in their dorm to make sure it was ok for her to eat

Hey dear author! You have made one hell of a great story and your characters are bloody amazing! Even the ones I don’t intend to romance are so great, but holy crap I just want to hug them all and tell them they’re loved and appreciated! The emotions, the mystery, the whole group dynamic of a generation of young adults who’ve been burned by crappy parents trying to change the way everything is is so cool! You really have written something amazing! You should feel proud!!

I wanted to say a few things about my favorite part of the book if that’s ok! Hebe is so bloody amazing! If everyone had a Hebe in their life, the world would be a much better and kinder place! I don’t know how you made them, but I’m in love with them! The dynamic they have with MC just hits me right in the feels!!! If my MC could have ran away and married Hebe a long time ago, they would have!! My MC has been in love with her since they were a kid and wants nothing more then to shout it from the rooftops!

I had a couple of soft, super fluffy reaction questions for you in relation to Hebe if that’s ok! If any you don’t want to answer, or are spoilers, feel free to ignore!

1. Would Hebe have been ok if the MC, as they’ve gotten so close to her, also developed a protective brother type relationship with her younger sister and also helped with things like calming her down when she was having anxiety attacks?

2. How would Hebe feel about the MC singing softly to her while they were giving her lap pillows? (Btw, I head canon that my MC does, especially when he tries to get her to sleep or relax)

3. This is purely hypothetical, and forgive me if it doesn’t make sense or is too specific but let’s say MC and Hebe’s father get into an argument because her father talked negatively about her and she just by chance overheard MC tell her dad “The thing about Hebe that makes her so special is she is true to herself. All of her quirks, everything that makes her her, I love them all. That’s why she’s my Hebe, because she is so amazing just being herself. I wouldn’t change anything about her because I love her just the way she is.”

Please forgive me if this is too much or too specific! Also please forgive me if the questions are too corny or cheesy, I’m a romantic at heart! I love your writing and your characters! I am amazed about the detail you’ve put into all of it! I hope you’re well!

ohhh my god thank u so much, like SO much, for supporting me this much, i really just. cannot believe this and i can't express my gratitude enough, omfg. i think these questions are going to be answered more elaborately in story but i'll touch on them now a bit to add some more padding to the pre-checkmate story!!

1. el will appear in the story, probably more often for people who choose hebe scenes specifically, but since the entire hale family (and laurel by extension) are all vital to the construction of the plot then you’ll come across her regardless. hebe’s relationship with her has changed slightly as they’ve both matured, elspeth doesn’t need to rely on her as much, but if MC is close to hebe then el will definitely see them as a sibling figure, either as someone she admires or as just a bit of a problematic fav depending on their personality. if hebe trusts them completely then elspeth will definitely have come to trust them too over the years, and i imagine that if MC was protectively inquiring about her dating life/career she would blush and shove them in the arm and act the same way as if they were hebe or tenny. she would also seek them out for advice if hebe wasn’t around for some reason, because she would know that they’re a safe person and she feels homey around them.

2. she tries to sing along. MC and hebe definitely know each other’s favourite songs, so it has the adverse effect and actually entertains her at first. it’s a bit like trying to get a baby to sleep; she gets the giggles, wants you to scratch her scalp, she joins in the singing. it does eventually relax her enough to fall asleep, though. she’s so comfy and candid

3. the MC’s relationship with benz will obviously also come up in the story as such a long-standing partner of their family, so i can’t go into loads of detail, but this is at least a somewhat likely thing to happen in the future. most of what MC knows about benz is stories from hebe about how spiteful and mean he is and how controlling he tries to be, but he has held his tongue in front of them to maintain the best professional image he can. also, hebe always suggests hanging out in places where her father definitely won’t be, just so you can avoid dealing with him wherever possible. honestly, the whole thing is kind of sad for her. she would’ve loved to have a normal father that could welcome the love of her life as family, but she always knew that was just never going to happen. i don’t think she would be able to stand by for long and would jump into the argument herself, obviously on the MC’s side, but she��s far less afraid and she can control her shaking voice better. she feels protected and knows she has a home to go to no matter what.
