My fave Kite and Orbital moment is when they’re dueling Lazar (on the moon) and look up in the sky (standing. on the moon.) and see a big red planet (standing! on! moon!) and Orbital goes “Wow, Mercury looks so pretty!! :):):)” and Kite (slowly dying) is like. You know what. Sure.

Astro Observations

Pt 2

It's so unreal how well Taurus placements can cook. Especially if there's Cancer in the big three. Taurus suns also have natural green thumbs

Cancer suns with Gemini Venuses are in constant conflict between they're ego and what they actually desire for love

This is definitely becoming common knowledge on the internet but all Libra placements that are personal and not generational are gay to some extent. Something about the scales allows them to go both ways I don't know . Depending on the placement and degree, it might make them uncomfortable, or the may proudly embrace it. But personal Libra placements can definitely go both ways

Cardinal signs are obsessed with each other, even though they're so toxic for each other.

5th house and Leo placements really love music. Leo rules the 5th house which is all about music, creativity and fun. So these natives really feel it.

Having your sun in the 11th house is a beautiful placement and creates a selfless person, but its the only placement for the sun to not be about "I" anymore. The sun is all about ego and self, ruled by Aries, but the 11th house is all about the collective, friends and the "greater good". Your ego is also heavily influenced by the collective and how you insert your self into the world.

The best combo for Cancer suns definitely has to be Virgo in the big three. Either in the moon or rising, Virgo gives Cancer this snatched look that blends perfectly with the bone structure of cancer suns. Travel is such a big theme in the lives of natives with personal 9th house placements. It almost becomes the focus of life if there's a stellium.

Moon conjunct Rising is one of my favorite placements synastry placements for friendships. They are each other inside out and understand each other without words.

The most underrated house for the moon imo is the 9th house. The moon does really well here, there's a natural optimism and lightness to their feelings and emotions. I think this is from the influence of Sagittarius and Jupiter. They're also really funny people naturally and have a kind of intelligent humor

Cancer and Taurus placements are such big foodies. They also know how to cook very well and genuinely enjoy getting fat over other signs. Obviously all signs have the ability to cook, but Cancers and Tauruses make that home cooked comfort food that tastes like the feeling of your mom carrying you to bed.

5th house moons never feel emotionally fulfilled unless they're feeling some kind of fun or pleasure in life.

Ais

Venus in Virgo. Period. I'm dying on this hill. Fight me. No but fr, first he's a diehard animal lover and will jump into a dog fight to save a puppy. Second, he's giving "mother hen" behavior - says "watch your step", then grabs you when you trip and scolds you "told you to watch your step"(Virgo 101); sends you off with an ESCORT, jumps in fists first when the roughneck tries fighting you then hides you from the purple gang later and escorts you back himself - need I say more? Not to mention he VERY likely helped Kuras save us (his scent lingers in the clinic when MC wakes up), and helps in the clinic regularly (so a part-time nurse, most likely helped save Mhin too). Also, he was definitely watching over us even before the Seaspring (the scarred woman knew our name from somewhere, also the Unnamed can feel Ocudeus' presence outside the clinic). He craves taking care of someone - people, animals, soulless, poor unfortunate souls - you name it. And it's not for show - that's just how he is. That's how he shows love - by being attentive. All my favorite people have this placement, they're all like him in this regard - best Venus placement imo (yes, I'm a biased Venus in Taurus, BUT I'm also right, lol)

Scorpio Ascendant I mean... come on. Come on. He's LITERALLY a gang leader! Not that anybody needs convincing, but aside from the sharp, intense eyes and the fact he oozes sex appeal, this would place his Sun in 10th House- he is known publicly as a leader, his presence demands respect and attracts attention. BDE for sure. Also he's very smart, intuitive and observant. Very aware of his surroundings, can pick up on people's moods & intentions like it's nothing. I'm convinced he can literally read our mind. A smart, sexy and caring bastard, lord help me...

Kuras

Virgo Signature sign Kuras is very service-oriented, focused on helping the community and always looking for ways to assist others. Very mindful of people’s problems and what they’re in need of - and ready to provide it, no matter what it may cost him. He’s also very polite, but comes off rigid, like he’s read “Social Etiquette for Humans 101” and is following it to the letter lol. Also kinda nerdy – has his special interests, and if you let him he’ll talk about reductions and concoctions all day, every day. I don't think it's a specific placement that influences this behavior, it's the whole picture, thus - a signature sign!

Saturn Dominant This man is a Capricorn already, sure, but there’s a difference. Capricorn placements have an inner spark, a fire about them – they’re ambitious and driven while being practical and disciplined. Saturn, however, is a dry and dark, malefic - almost apocalyptic planet. It’s the last visible planet – the gatekeeper of the divine knowledge (depicted by the outer planets). It represents time, boundaries, a sense of duty and responsibility, guilt and the consequences of one's actions. A symbol of Kronos and the Devil, it represents the falling of God, the grotesque expression of divinity. Kuras has a curious mind, fascinated by science and humanity, and in light of the Kuras character lore (and his not-too-subtle mischievousness) he def has strong Uranus & Jupiter influence as well. But the Saturnian themes in particular parallel the themes and main conflict in his story most strongly.

Mercury Retrograde I had to. The way he's so precise and eloquent, but roundabout when he talks? How he's so tight-lipped and takes his sweet time before answering a question? Mercury retrograde, 100 percent. I don't make the rules.

Moon in 1st House. How do I know? I have it. The color of printer paper (the sun hates us), emotions written all over their entire existence and impossible to hide, as well as rather intense emotional outbursts? Yes, yes and yes. Big-time tsundere? Yes. Big softy, too? Yes. We could be twins, honestly. I stg they have a crush on Ais, but unlike with Kuras they're not happy about it. I dunno, call it twin telepathy. The Christmas photo doesn't help either.

Water moon, most likely in Cancer. Not Scorpio, because their emotions fluctuate rapidly, and are overtly moody. The difference between big waves and a rip current, for example. But more so, this makes for a Sun-Moon square - the dissonance and lack of harmony between their outer persona and their inner needs and desires is clear. They have difficulty expressing their emotions, not difficulty as in showing them, but in a way where they come off wrong and get interpreted the wrong way. Very protective, like a smol soft crabbie shielding themselves with their shell. Pushes people away consciously, but hoping for someone to have enough of a "spine" to handle them and protect them, giving them a safe space to finally relax. Most of all they need love, reassurance and acceptance (my poor little meow meow💙)

Mars square Mercury That Mercury is in Aries, you can't tell me otherwise. The extra 'angry' coming from Mars in Capricorn is helping, too. But not only that, it also makes a square to their Sun AND an opposition to their Moon - a T-square, a highly difficult & stressful configuration. The Mars is in Capricorn because they like a partner with authority and attitude (Cap in 7th), and it makes for good synastry with Kuras (my cutie patooties). Also for how small they are, they're very agile and skilled with knifes (ruled by Mars).

Venus conjunct Pluto. Sexy. Magnetic. He pulls you in with the gravitational force of his tits. These people are the definition of an intense lover. Obsessive and hungry for love - and pain, equally, very big on extreme and overwhelming sensations. You have a terrible curse? Oooh, danger - gimme! You can never give them too much attention - they want it all, and they're not sharing. Possessive, wants to draw you into their little world and keep you for themselves.

Leo Ascendant, for a few reasons. I was initially thinking Libra, but after looking at everything, I decided on Leo. He has a noble presence - not surprising considering his upbringing. He's a very charismatic talker, well-spoken, lovely voice, can charm anyone into trusting him (Libra in 3rd coming through). To his credit, he takes his work seriously and comes off as a reliable boss (Cap in 6th, also Taurus in 10th). He wants to take care of people... or rather, wants to be seen as a savior. I really see him as a Gemini-Cancer cusp, but technically he's a Cancer so his sun will be in 12th house. It’s a house of self-undoing, the afterlife, illusions - ego and reality go to disintegrate here. All that connects into the life-and-death theme surrounding him and his design. The sun here becomes a fantasy, a goal rather than reality – a dream of being a leader, a hero, someone who people look up to for help and answers. He’s really giving Jesus-wannabe, with the resurrection and savior complex he has going on, as well as the over-the-top generosity. A big red crab, with a big red flag... and the tits to match (Cancer rules the booba).

Vere

Venus conjunct Midheaven, Midheaven being in Scorpio. With Sun in Scorpio. Lots of Scorpio. He’s so pretty! Pretty in an elegant, sensual, effortless yet manicured to perfection way. Apparently, the BBC (Big Bulky Collar) on him does not signal “DANGER!” to the rascals who take him for an easy target, because all they see is the approachable, delicate face and inviting voice. He knows the effect he has on people, and he’s using it to his advantage – to get a free drink, or to make people trust him juuust enough to get what he wants. He is attracted to power, powerful people, and wants power for himself – and he’s ruthless about achieving his goals, too (Scorpio in 10th); there’s a lot of gossip surrounding this man’s public image, his reputation. Venus conjunct Midheaven places a focus on art – he is an artist, appreciates art as well as creating it himself. He IS the art, or that’s the perception of him anyway.

Venus in Scorpio As Venusian as he appears, Venus is in detriment here – there’s conflicting emotions regarding his looks, and the perception of him – or rather, the expectations placed on him because of it. He'll break rules on purpose, act outrageous, play coy, use his beaty for all its worth – he’ll purposefully play the ‘bad guy’ as a form of rebellion, a defense mechanism. He can’t find comfort in a traditional relationship dynamic and has a hard time liking someone who likes them back - he’s afraid of commitment. I believe his confidence is a façade; there’s an underlying fear of betrayal and rejection, and a paranoia that any good thing that comes his way is a trick, a trap, or a lie. That he doesn’t deserve love or care, really. Buuut… if you’re like Ais and see him for all his ‘ugly’, and accept him anyway… then you’re really something💜.

Daughter of same Father

Cornix going through motions and her own many issues.

- I am NO PRIMARCH! - her voice roared across the vast halls of Ravenspire with extreme anger, which, usually was not to engulf her entire existance in one sweep like a ravaging storm. It was first in as long as memory served her.

A serf woman dropped the tray she was carrying, only her hands shaking as she stood here paralysed with fear.

Cornix looked at tiny woman in front of her and then at her own fist nestled in the dent of metal wall costruction just above serf's head. Blood seeped through her fingers, every droplet hitting the floor with dripping watery sound. Only now she realised the extent of her anger.

- I... I... Apologise my lady... I... - Serf muttered tears rolling down her obscured by hood face Nix could not see. Only droplets on her chest gave her crying away.

Like hit with the lightning Cornix pulled her hand back, only blood stained dent perfecty fitting her fist still visible on the wall before her. Had she struck the wall few inches lower and...

She shuddered. Not even hearing the serf's apology, Nix stared at her own bleeding hand: her knuckles most likely got broken, but injury did not scare her as loss of her own temper. Of such a magnitude.

She never was aggressive. She never acted hastily. What had she become?

Without any other word, Cornix turned away and with a quick step and left the scene. She could not bear to stand facing a woman she nearly killed just for adressing her the title she grew to hate so.

Haste step grew into run as Cornix covered her own face with her bleeding hand staining it in red blood. She did not care, all she wanted was to hide, to disappear.

Her legs carried her in massive running steps as she soon found herself in one of the shoddy rooms Neophyte Ravenlings used to live in if their behaviour was found troubling by the Raven Guard Shadow Masters. Whole complex for her own luck was empty.

She slipped into the room and made sure to shut the doors, before slumping into the darkest corner between one of the worn and ravaged by time and use cots and old, broken and mouldy wall.

And she lost it.

With the silent screams, wailling and crying. Nix knew how to cry so no one would hear, she had learned it since drawing her first breath, to hide, to be silent. She dug her own nails in her skull, she felt the skin bleed. The pain, pain helped.

Primarch born, a miracle child surviving despite Kiavahr Rot in her system, which claimed her mother, His most beloved creation. His favorite. His entire Life

So why did he cast her away?

Deep down in logical part of things, Nix knew there had to be valid reason why after Istvaan V she was removed from Deliverance, the place she knew as home before it even was called in His honor. Back when it was Lycaeus: mining moon filled to the brim with slaves working their lives for their Kiavahr overlords. The place filled with sorrow and pain it was there she was born. Welcomed into the world by death and sorrow.

But the reason why he did this haunted her for millenias to come. Why?

And yet she accepted it. Accepted that she no longer was needed. Or maybe He felt she was old enough to carry on her own. Time to let His Little Raven fly free...

The day her Father finally returned from Terra after his injuries post Istvaan V healed... He was different.

Instead always wrapping his arms around her smaller frame as first thing once he and Raven Guard landed back home, that day he did not even care to face her. Way longer hair covering his face and eyes, while he just walked past her open arms like a ghost of former self.

That day part of her died. The rest soon followed as Cornix was dragged away to a Stormbird by couple of Shadow Wardens and taken off her home planet. She screamt, she cried for him, she begged, but no one reacted. No one listened. No one cared...

That day she truly died.

Nix opened her tear filled and red eyes. The memories hurt, hurt so much only more pain could make her forget. With full strenght of her being, she launched herself at opposite wall head first.

It all soon went dark. Let death take her.

She survived. Of course it would take more than that for someone as her to die. And yet it would have been so welcome.

Cornix looked around. Her bloody hand now was bandaged as well as her forehead. She grunted as bright lights of apothecarie made her head pain even more.

- I appreciate you trying to check integrity of our walls, but next time maybe leave this task to Mechanicus.

She turned to the side only to see a figure speaking with her. Nix's sight still was hazy so she needed more time to focus.

A Primaris marine in full set of armor sat on the bed next to hers, elbows leaning on the knees as he regarded her wounded form in bed. She made facial features enough to grunt at him. Why it had to be him out of anyone.

- Master. - she was polite and yet wanted to add that his jokes weren't funny. He was faster to acknowledge this thought.

- Not even going to smile at my joke Cornix? Such a bore. - he laughed. He indeed was very weird man for Astartes. Even weirder for Master of Shadows.

- Besides, I told you. In private just call me Shrike. - He smiled in a very reassuring, but cocky way.

Kayvaan Shrike. The man in charge of Raven Guard Astartes Chapter. The only man taking final decision which regards actions of the Ravens. He's been in the position for some time already before Cornix returned back to Deliverance and seemed to be doing alright with the Brothers.

He was interesting. Not as solemn or serious, quite opposite, with her at least. He liked to joke, liked to tease and give her all the space to adapt, while others instantly saw her as some holy return of their Primarch.

Again...that title.

Cornix's fists clenched as she remembered with disgust how she was met by Raven Guard with full obedience and humility. Their Primarch. Primarch. Primarch.

She was no Primarch. And being born of one did not make her such. She hated it. Hated it so much.

It was hard to imagine that back in the day she wanted to be like him. Be like Corvus Corax. Her own beloved father as she saw him as perfect in every regard. Now she hated idea of it. Maybe because she was still hurt or maybe because she did not trust in herself enough.

- Calm down. - Shrike reached his hand towards her angry fists. - You scared enough people today. Brothers included.

She remembered that poor serf.

Suddenly Nix sat in her bed, and faced Shrike about to stand up, only for Primaris Chapter Master to put hands on her shoulders to keep her sitting. Both of them were eerly equal height as they sat facing eachother for quite some time in silence.

- What is going on? - Shrike became more serious. - I told you can speak with me if it's hard...

She snapped at him like a child even if part of her was grateful for efforts.

- What do you know about how I feel?

- No one is keeping you in Ravenspire. - Shrike was nonchallant and spoke facts with calm in his voice. And he was right. Cornix took the decision to approach Raven Guard under offer of Guilliman. The one worry she carried in her heart however was how they will react to her. Will they accept her. How they will accept her. And how she will accept them. There were so many more worries apparently.

Cornix blinked at Shrike and their eyes met. Both equal titans, both sable haired, both with dark eyes of true Kiavahr and Lycaeus born. True children of same Father, despite the millenias separating them time wise and the way how they came to be who they are in this world.

-... I am no Primarch, Shrike... - she could not keep their sights locked anymore and her eyes drifted down to her bandaged hand. - I am no Primarch... - her voice was almost a whisper.

- You cannot escape some things. Especially duty you were born to do. - he was honest. Note of certainty made her believe he spoke out of his soul and still Cornix raised her eyes with newly found anger.

- Didn't you just say I can leave? And now you say I am bound by duty my Father bestowed upon me after he abandoned me!? - she shot of the bed, while Shrike still sat raising head up to her.

- Yes. That is exactly what I am saying.

Cornix looked at him confused as Shrike rose off the bed, their statures measuring equal once more.

- Cornix Corax. No chains are binding you to Ravenspire. No chains are binding you to Raven Guard. You can leave. And yet you are Daughter of your Father and no matter how you might want it, you cannot escape your duty to his legacy. You were born with this bestowed upon you, just as he was with duty of God Emperor. Call it a blessing, call it a curse. Ultimately: it is your choice to accept it, or run from it.

Shrike turned and walked towards the door, turning his sideways gaze upon her one more time.

- As Master of Shadows I allow you to leave. As Brother of same Father, I hope you won't. I hope you will reconsider and change your mind. I hope you won't run anymore. I hope you will find it in your heart to forgive yourself out of all.

He turned and left, leaving her wounded even more than physical injuries could. Shrike's words pierced as daggers, to the core, to the heart.

Cornix fell back to sitting on bed only to notice something on the sheets of the bed Shrike sat on. She was so caught in her anger, she did not notice he even carried something with himself.

It was large black leather covered journal, it's pages and cover worn out out by time. She ran fingers across it's leather binding, decorated in dark feather motifs and felt her heart to stop and sink.

It was her Father's journal.

taurus sun: this is one of my personal favorites. your house is either well furnished with great woodwork, a fireplace, a bathtub, and a serene backyard or you could be planning to make a very comfortable place for you'll. love is stable, neither of them giving upon the connection. both want to earn for themselves/family. an aspect of traditionalism is prevalent, either related to family or culture. they find it very comfortable to be around each other. perhaps that's also how they view it, "comfortable" and in love. they love to cook/bake together and shop together. skin ship, slow dancing, wine, sex, and money all. prefer to do things and show than be up all in their head. not much talking in my opinion. both of them or one of them could be incredibly stubborn though lol. would make friendly next-doors. the food is top-notch too.

sun in 8th house: you guys probably view eachother as soulmates. this placement leaves you guys transforming into something completely different, it feels like. this energy may drive you both insane, causing intense attraction to eachother. your love for eachother is extreme.

cancer moon: a nurturing connection that will grow an urge to protect each other from. one person can begin to take on a mothering role over another. others may not see how much it scares one another to care deeply about a connection. this connection becomes an emotional sanctuary for one another and there is a desire to “come home” to one another. very sensitive to each other's emotional changes. be careful to not monitor each other's emotions too much. others may not see how losing or being apart from this person can feel like a house fire. you two begin to bring each other comfort the closer you get. 

moon in 10th house: the two people see the other person can provide what they need to build, in the outside world, safety and security. the moon is naturally opposite to the 10th house on the wheel. the other side of the same coin, moon and Saturn. so while the moon is our basic need for security and safety, the 10th is where those things happen. where we go and do the things that the 4th needs. so in this placement we have two people joining their most subjective personal states and feelings in a context of getting ahead, public image, status, what's external to us. they can be prone to identify outside external circumstances as the problems, difficulties and the supportive things that are working within the relationship. its not a really personal place for the composite moon to be. they relate emotionally in their thoughts about where they want to go, how they want things to go to achieve their goals in order to meet the moon needs. "What we can become together? Where are we going? How our combined lifestyle can provide or be the vehicle for what we want to achieve?"

rising/ 1st house:

libra rising: all the affection and the internal and positive dynamics of the relationship are visible to others, they really like being together, appearing in public, they are romantic, traditional gestures are very usual to them. they are very adaptable, they show a lot of harmony together, but they can suffer from a lack of assertiveness when necessary, such as when they need to better select the people they talk to and the places they go.

jupiter in 1st house: planets in the first house are most easily seen by others. jupiter here expands your relationship in the sense that everyone always seems to see you two around, you’re “loud” (not necessarily in volume but in appearance) and may enjoy traveling together. sometimes you can seem too much for others or surprisingly focus too much on yourselves.

actually no hang on im thinking about worlds and how they work some more. i know in pirate we travel between worlds via the windlanes and such, and we can obviously stand on an open ship deck without, like, needing to worry about breathing. is it a treasure planet/etherium situation, where its like Space But With An Atmosphere? what happens if you fall off the edge of a world? how far does a world's gravity extend-- does it work like a globe, where you can just walk around the edge of a world and wander onto the underside of it? or would you literally just fall into open space?

how do the solar cycles work? the fact that there's astral magic named for the sun and the moon as well as all the iconography accompanying it suggests that those two bodies do exist, but is there an individual sun and moon for each world? how does that affect its orbit? do some worlds just lack either of them like marleybone? polaris DOES have a sun and we know it because of this bit of dialogue when we first get there:

and then on the other end of astral magic we know stars exist obviously except they look different on different worlds-- see places like Marleybone and Grizzleheim VS. Polaris. and like obviously outside of the game i know its because they adopted a less cartoony style later on, so they forewent the hand-drawn-looking stars in those earlier two worlds in favor of more realistic ones. (worth mentioning we are all the better for it polaris is one of my favorite worlds strictly for how GORGEOUS it is.) but how is that explained in-universe? is it explained at all or are we just supposed to accept that the stars look different when viewed from different worlds??

Worm Moon - March 7 2023

The world is thawing and spring will soon be sprung. Dust off your garden tools and get ready for the Worm Moon!

Worm Moon

The Worm Moon is the name given to the full moon which occurs in the month of March in the Northern Hemisphere. The name is taken from the renewed visible presence of earthworms, which begin to bubble up in gardens and on sidewalks as the spring thaw approaches and increased temperatures and rainfall loosen the soil enough for them to emerge. And of course, this is accompanied by the presence of spring harbingers like robins and local songbirds, who are very happy to see this renewed bounty.

The March moon, if it occurs prior to the spring equinox, is also the Lenten Moon, named for the Christian holiday of Lent. Indigenous names for this moon include Goose Moon (Algonquin and Cree), Sugar Moon (Ojibwe), Sap Moon (Shawnee), and Crow Comes Back Moon (Northern Ojibwe).

What Does It Mean For Witches?

Full moons are both the beginning and end of the lunar cycle. With the Worm Moon, we can look forward to the beginning of spring and the yearly harvest cycle. So now is the perfect time for seasonal divination, plans for the coming months, and the setting of goals for the future, both short-term and long-term. You can also check in with goals you may have set back in January and record your progress. (Remember - even a little progress is still progress!)

If you're an observer of astrology, you might be interested to know that Saturn and several other planets are experiencing transitions this month, some of them for the first time in several years. For those who work in celestial spheres, this may herald a long-awaited breath of fresh air and (hopefully) positive changes to come.

What Witchy Things Can We Do?

The Worm Moon heralds the imminent start of the planting season. If you've got green fingers, now is the time to begin planning your garden for the season. Prepare your sprouting trays and browse your favorite seed catalog for inspiration.

As the Spring Equinox approaches (March 20th), this is a good time to start putting together any seasonal observances you'd like to make. It's also time for that all-important spring cleaning, so open up those windows on a warm day and air out all the staleness from winter. As you scrub and dust and declutter, you can also magically cleanse your space of stagnant, disruptive, or unwanted things, replacing them with your own energy and your good wishes and goals for the upcoming season.

Consider also how you can change or begin new routines and habits to improve your life, make better choices, streamline your schedule, or just give yourself a much-needed break. If there's something hanging around that no longer serves you, now is the time to consider bidding it adieu and moving forward to a new path.

This is also an excellent time for spells focused on fertility, optimism, and new growth. It's important to remember that fertility spells don't just have to focus on procreation. They can also be geared toward planting, creating, opportunity, inspiration, motivation, prosperity, abundance, and anything that requires nurturing and productivity.

This is the second night that I’ve been gazing at the full moon from my balcony. It looks amazing, larger than usual. The sky is beautiful tonight, adorned with a sprinkle of visible stars. I love sky gazing and wondering about life and what else is out there. If there’s a heaven, where is it? Is it somewhere up in the sky, in an alternate universe, or is there an afterlife right here, with a veil between our life and the hereafter?

Sky gazing is one of my favorite things to do. Day or night, I’m always looking at the sky. I find it strange how people can be outside and only stare at their phones, unaware of what’s going on around them. I notice this mostly on public transport. I love staring out the window while traveling and observing what’s happening outside and around me.

Nights like these make me wonder about our existence and why we’re here. It’s amazing that we’re traveling through the universe on a spherical planet, surrounded by so much mysterious beauty. Even though I don’t completely understand it, I’m grateful for moments like these that remind me of the vastness and beauty of our universe, offering a sense of peace amid life’s chaos.

“I missed you,” Liv repeats, turning to face Lanie properly, a soft smile on her face.

Lanie laughs. It’s quiet, but it still feels too loud in the silence. “I never left, Livvy.”

“That’s not— I know,” Liv says with a huff that might be a laugh, turning back to face the sky. “But we haven’t… it hasn’t been the two of us in a while. And I missed it.”

Lanie blinks, raises her head where it’s resting back on her arms to look up at Liv, who isn’t meeting her gaze, staring out at the stars overhead. She’d asked if Lanie wanted to step outside, hang out on the roof for a bit, and Lanie’s never been able to deny her.

“Hm?”

“I missed you,” Liv repeats, turning to face Lanie properly, a soft smile on her face.

Lanie laughs. It’s quiet, but it still feels too loud in the silence. “I never left, Livvy.”

“That’s not— I know,” Liv says with a huff that might be a laugh, turning back to face the sky. The moon makes her face glow, melts her eyes to pools of silver, and Lanie can’t look away. It’s becoming a problem. “But we haven’t… it hasn’t been the two of us in a while. And I missed it.”

She’s not… wrong, Lanie realizes as she sits up properly, slowly. Between Liv switching jobs, hers and Wendell’s relationship hurtling toward something, and Lanie working on mending her relationship with Jenna, they haven’t had a lot of time to hang out, just the two of them.

Which is a shame, right? Liv’s one of her favorite people on the planet — she’s been stupidly in love with her for months, and love might sound like too strong of a term but it’s lasted so long she doesn’t know how else to describe the world-stopping heart-pounding earth-shattering feeling. The butterflies in her stomach— well, they don’t really appear, anymore, actually, because they’re friends, and Lanie’s figured out how to be an actual person around her, but the floaty, bubbly feeling in her chest still remains.

She just… doesn’t know where she fits into Liv’s life. Not really. They’re friends, sure, but how far beyond that? Does Liv lay awake at night thinking about her? Does her heart speed up when their arms brush? Does she get so caught up in Lanie’s beauty she forgets how to breathe?

Not that— that’s not meant to be arrogant. It’s meant to be gay. Lanie’s going through a lot right now. She doesn’t have late night rooftop conversations with everyone she meets.

Maybe that means more than she realizes.

“I meant it, before,” she says, instead of any of that. “At the kennel club. When I said I wouldn’t leave you. It wasn’t— the situation sucked, and it was… probably a little too dramatic? But I did mean it. In general.”

She winces — it’s too much, too honest, too ridiculous. But Liv just stares at her, long enough she starts feeling like she’s on the other side of the microscopes from her junior year AP Bio class.

The thing is, Lanie is not genuine, not often. She’s not a liar — she never really says anything she doesn’t mean — but she prefers not to wear her heart on her sleeve, necessarily. She knows her own emotions. She doesn’t need the rest of the world to.

It’s easier to bury it all under her persona. To snark, to flirt, to wink and roll her eyes and grin and bear it.

But there’s something about Liv that makes her feel so open, so vulnerable, that she can’t help but pour her heart out, emotions spilling into the cool night air. It’s growing colder, though not enough for her breath to be visible — she checks, but the puff of air just fades away without a trace.

Liv watches her a moment longer, then shifts her gaze to the blankets beneath them. She lets out a chuckle that sounds almost bittersweet. “I had a crush on you, y’know.”

Lanie thinks there’s more words after that. They sound distant, or maybe underwater, or maybe it’s actually just the pounding of her blood in her ears as her heart leaps into her throat. She swallows it back down so she doesn’t throw it up onto the roof, but it’s hard when it feels like all the air’s been punched out of her lungs.

“What?” she manages weakly.

“When we first met,” Liv clarifies. She picks at a loose thread on the blanket, and she does not meet Lanie’s eyes. “I thought— you were cool, and pretty, and you didn’t really care what anyone else thought, and at first I thought I wanted to just be your friend, and then you called me Livvy and said I was cute and. It was kind of all downhill from there. I just… didn’t realize, I guess?”

Okay. Okay! Cool. This is normal. She can be so incredibly normal about this.

Lanie coughs. “Had?”

Failed step one.

Liv freezes, her hand stilling in its fidgeting, and even in the darkness Lanie can see her face turn red. She bites her lip, looks up with wide, dark eyes. “I mean— I did want to be friends! That’s all it was at first! I didn’t, like, become your friend because I wanted to date you. That came after. Not that— I’m not still your friend because I want to date you! Except I do. Want to. Um. What?”

What is right, Lanie thinks, except she isn’t really thinking much beyond what the fuck what the fuck what the fuck. This was not the conversation they were meant to be having. This was not ever the conversation they were meant to be having, because Lanie had pushed down her feelings months ago and played them off as a joke even when her heart leapt into her throat and choked her, because she was never meant to win. Her crush has never been subtle, but everyone knew she wasn’t meant to be the one to get the girl.

Except. Except here comes Liv, breaking down her walls and shattering her expectations, just like always.

“Liv,” she says, sounding much more calm than she feels. “I have had the world’s biggest crush on you since you started working at that shithole of a video store.”

She sees the moment it hits Liv, watches her process the words as she blinks, rapid fire, in that way Lanie’s figured means she’s thinking. The fact she has that cataloged is definitely a symptom of something.

“Oh,” Liv says in a very small voice. “Um. Cool.”

Lanie doesn’t mean to laugh at that, really, but she can’t help it because god, they’re so bad at this. “Cool?” she echoes, and her voice is far too fond for it to sound like an insult.

“Yeah,” Liv says, somewhere between soft and strangled. Careful, maybe. Hesitant. “Cool.”

“Okay.” Lanie laughs— giggles, even, which is ridiculous because Lanie Woodward does not giggle. There’s a bright, burning sensation in her chest, like sparking embers, like fireworks and summer and hope.

The air isn’t tense, but there’s a feeling of urgency and yet hesitance, of anticipation and anxiety, an undercurrent of what comes next in every movement, every moment. It thrums through Lanie’s veins, beats alongside her heart like a drum. She’s not often anxious like this — but then again, she’s not often genuine like this, either. She’s never really wanted this to mean something before.

“Should we, like—” she starts, at the same time Liv tries, “We could try again.”

Lanie stops, sits back, a little. “Again?”

“In the Amazon,” Liv says, like Lanie could ever forget — which she supposes she has, in a way, but it’s more of a forcible removal from her memory than anything else. She didn’t need to remember it every time she closed her eyes. “When I— I asked if I could kiss you. We could… you’re you, now. So.”

She trails off like it’s a stupid idea and not like it’s everything Lanie’s ever wanted to hear for the past four months. Which is her fault, probably, because she’d said no when Liv had asked before and then never followed up on why, which was not her proudest moment, but sue her, she wanted to leave the rainforest and kill their boss and get out of the VHS tape. That’s not a crime, she thinks.

It just also meant she’s probably been sending mixed signals for the past four months, because most people would take a no as I don’t want to kiss you and not the I would love to kiss you in literally any other circumstance but currently I’m a lesbian and you’re a guy and I really don’t want to test the boundaries of these bodies that Lanie meant for it to be. Which. Fair. Also, very stupid of her.

“We could,” Lanie agrees, a tone to her voice that sounds almost scared, which is dumb because it’s just Liv.

Liv, who she’s had a crush on for nearly a year and probably even before that. Liv, who held onto her when they were getting arrested and refused to let go until they forced her to. Liv, who looked her in the eyes and said she’d stay in her life forever like it was the most casual thing. Liv, who laughed and joked and bared her soul to her on shifts like they were actual friends and not coworkers put together more often than not.

Liv, who is suddenly mere inches away from Lanie, hands ghosting over her face as she studies her, looking for something in her gaze. Lanie just grins, but she thinks it looks too sappy to properly come off as a challenge.

“Do it,” she says, hardly a whisper in the night.

Liv grins back, cups her face, and she does.

I wanted to ask though, do you have any descriptions of what the planets roughly look like from afar?

anyway! description time!

Eldingvegr - the planet is tidally-locked, meaning it doesn't spin. one side is always facing its sun, while the other side is always cast in darkness. the sun facing side, Sólsid, is a vast desert so the planet looks mostly brown and yellow on that side. the dark facing side, Nóttsid, is permanently shrouded in darkness, but if someone were to point a giant flashlight at it it would mostly be white and grey because it's largely made up of stone and ice with a few small settlements here and there. most of the planets population lives in the Røkkrring, which is the middle band of the planet where the day and night sides meet. I actually did find a reference picture of what a sunset looks like from space so

in my mind the Røkkrring looks like this from space—a band of varying shades of soft pinks. I know that's a lot going on with one planet lol sorry about that

Zephys IV - this planet is extremely cold, with the entire population living underground because the surface is essentially just ice and a few extremely hardy tundra plants. from afar the planet essentially looks like a ball of white and blue ice.

Kinoko - as a planet Kinoko is heavily forested with a huge variety of mushrooms and trees found on the surface. from afar it looks relatively similar to earth, except it's more land than water and the land is extremely green

Mantle - schlatt's planet is a moon that orbits a gas giant (like Jupiter in our own solar system). the gas giant Mantle orbits is a light orangish color, while Mantle itself looks kind of like Saturn's moon Titan with it's kind of hazy green/blue/orange glow

And then we have the Badlands, which are a trio of planets that all orbit another gas giant that govern together. Of the Badlands we have:

Nona - this one is like Kinoko in that it's a heavily forested planet with lots of green. whereas Kinoko though looks roughly to have 55% land and 45% water, Nona has 70% land and 30% water. It's mostly just masses of extremely green continents with a few splashes of blue lakes here and there.

Decima - in my mind Decima has the same haziness you always see with Saturn's moon Titan, but the color scheme for Decima is entirely yellows. the surface of Decima is uninhabitable due to high temperatures and toxic gas, so all populations live in floating cities in the upper atmosphere

Morta - Morta is a bit of a hell planet that only gem hybrids like Skeppy and demons like Bad can survive on. the planet itself is dark grey and red with no visible water anywhere from afar. there technically is water on the planet, but it's very far below ground in the extensive cave system that runs through the entire thing.

And then the gas giant these three planets orbit is kind of a hazy dark orange/reddish color in my mind but I'm not super picky about it

I saved drawing the LCARS until pretty much last and I had a lot of fun with it. My favorite part is Ensign Kerman's display--like, I was just in pure joy while drawing it, rare self-love win.

Panel 1:

On the viewscreen a ringed gas planet with an additional rainbow ring farther out. Tendi and a Kerbal are at the conn in the background, Captain Freeman is in the midground, and an angry-looking Lt. Shax and distressed Kanopian ensign, Iris, is in the foreground.

Ensign Iris: "I'm reading a distress call from the large planetoid in this system's Kuiper Belt."

Distress call in earpiece: ...ert! USS Twilight in severe distress. Requesting assistance from any nearby vessels.  USS Twilight computer: This has been repetition two billion, three hundred seventy-three million, five hundred ninety-five. Message repeats. Red al...

Captain Freeman: "Ensign Kerman, set a course. Warp me, factor two."

Panel 2:

Ensign Kerman: "I can't! The warp drive won't engage!"

Panel 3:

Tendi: "Amazing! The rainbow magnetodisk of the gas giant is interfering with the warp coils! The superjovian magnetic dynamo seems to be interacting with some kind of minor moon made of Dilithium & Verterium to produce a weak static warp field, so the warp drive can't couple to normal space."

Panel 4:

Freeman: "Then give me maximum impulse."

Kerman: "Aye captain. ETA is 10 hours 34 minutes, but we clear the magnetodisk in 15 minutes."

Panel 1: The USS Cerritos is flying on the outskirts of the rainbow magnetodisk, with a red dwarf star in the background to the right and the ringed planet in the background to the left. The Cerritos is a saucer-shaped ship with two long blocky warp nacelles below it. A faint plume of gas can be seen coming from the back of the saucer.

Panel 2: The Cerritos flies by the viewer. We can see its slower-than-light impulse engines on the bottom of the saucer emitting the plume of gas, but one of the six clusters of the impulse engine is dim, with only three of its six thrusters lit up.

Panel 3: We zoom in on the starboard set of impulse engines, and see that the dim segment seems to be lighting up more of its engines.

Panel 4: Zoomed in a little more, and now all 18 visible engines are now lit up. But one of them, impulse engine Starboard Beta-3, has a dirty exhaust plume and is emitting sparks.

This took me SO long to answer but that's because the questions were so good!!

🖊️ BALLPOINT PEN — does your oc have any tattoos? Do they want any (more) tattoos?

Rosaria has a tarot card tattoo on her arm and a rose tattoo on her thigh. The latter came a bit before she started her first college semester. It was her 17th birthday and her sister insisted that she needed a tattoo before her college journey began. Since Sonia is a tattoo addict and Sal also has a handful of tattoos (I need to make more of his but I'm lazy shh) for Rosaria to get one was like a ‘rite of passage.’ Either way, she likes her thigh tattoo because she thinks it looks like an intricate design when she puts on stockings. But the downfall of this is when she wears stockings with intricate designs, her tattoo is still visible and throws the design off. The tarot tattoo is more recent and it also serves as a display for how much she loves colored tattoos rather than black and white ones. Rosaria has seen some really cute tattoo ideas of flowers at the ankles or a kitten hugging the moon, and she would love them on her but, because of her career goals she thinks they could be very unprofessional or at worse, look immature. 

🎶 MUSICAL NOTES — what type of music does your oc like? do they listen to music very often?

She has a nostalgic love for 80s rock and 80s pop due to her parents always playing it when she was little. Beyond that she grew up in a house with all sorts of music: Sal loved rappers, Sonia loved rock! Rosaria found herself leaning towards indie pop and indie rock. Because I’m the sort of person who has to know what sort of music my OCs listen to so I can get into their headspace, I’m gonna name off some musicians! Tennis, The Bird and the Bee, Florence & The Machine, Lana Del Ray (she got into her during like, 2014 or 2013 tumblr. same with Florence), Mitski, Steve Lacy, and Toro y Moi.

💘 HEART WITH ARROW — what and/or who do(es) your oc consider the most important to them?

Her immediate family is very important to her, because it feels 'small and fragile.' Her mom died when she was going into Middle School, her dad began living his life self-destructively soon after therefore, Rosaria consequently grew up worried about her siblings dying young in addition to herself dying young. Her cat Briscola is also very important to her, because Rosaria feels like domestic animals depend on humans and consequently, if something happens to them its her fault and she's a failure in some way.

🎂 BIRTHDAY CAKE — when is your oc's birthday? how old are they? what are their sun, moon, & rising signs (if known)? what about their tarot card, ruling planet, & ruling number (if known)? do they fit the typical traits of these sun, moon, & rising signs? Rosaria’s birthday is March 26, she’s 28 going on 29 and her sign is Aries which hopefully puts every one of her confrontational scenes in a better context 😂 I’m gonna be honest and say Rosaria’s behavior is based on my grandmother who is also an Aries who switches from being a diligent worker, a sweet, pleasant, caring person, then the most combative person ever.

🍝 SPAGHETTI — what is/are your oc's favorite food(s)?

Grilled chicken wraps, tortellini with ricotta and spinach.

😊 SMILING FACE WITH SMILING EYES — what are your oc's career/general life desires? what do they want to get the most out of life? When Rosaria was a kid she wanted to be the President. Looking back, Rosaria recognizes she always wanted to make the world a better place, because in addition to fixating on history, she was obsessed with how the creation of laws and rules were formed. When she learned that people in government made laws, that’s when Rosaria decided: “oh! I want to be President so I decide which laws exist!” ‘cause you know, kids simplify logic like that. She wanted to be a lawyer in Middle School and High School, but by High School she felt like her family wasn’t likely to put her through Law School due to their low finances. Once she was in college, she majored in Communications because she felt like she would graduate quickly with some sort of [dead-end] job to satisfy her family. Rosaria still wanted to make the world a better place though, so she would always participate in activist rallies and protests.

As she studies to be a lawyer now, Rosaria still aspires to help people. [Unaware that Raphael allegedly wants her to be a consigliere.] I consider middle-aged Rosaria, in the Sink or Swim AU, to be an Immigration Lawyer which ties into her passion about helping others have a better life.

😥 SAD BUT RELIEVED FACE — is your oc prone to getting stressed out, or is it easy for them to keep their cool?

Rosaria is prone to anxiety. In a mild case she’s overthinking a situation, but in a severe case she’s having panic attacks. High levels of neuroticism runs on the father’s side of her family. But beyond that, a good deal of Rosaria’s general stress comes from her overworking herself and setting high expectations for herself. To receive bad feedback in college, or work, can send her into a brief depression.

💯 HUNDRED POINTS SYMBOL — share three random facts about your oc that others may not know. 1. Because he immigrated at seven years old and was thrust into English-speaking schools he struggled reading, writing, and speaking. Because this school was [shitty] and underfunded, apathetic teachers would consequently place Pietro in Special Education Classes that did not help him either. Dissatisfied with school [and seeing it as a place where he would just be humiliated] Pietro would stop going at fourteen years old. 2. His English gradually improved because his big sister, Donatella, would take him to the local theater every Saturday and they would watch movies. It was more of a listening experience than anything else.  3. Pietro was coerced into a sexual relationship with Daciano’s mother, Maria Falcone when he was twenty. Neither Ernesto or Daciano are aware of this. But, Pietro was residing with Ernesto and Maria at the time. Ernesto and Maria were splitting up, and Maria frequently made passes at Pietro wanting to fulfill a personal fantasy of having a young, fit guy fulfill her needs. As a result, Pietro felt to secure the fact he had a roof over his head, he had to sleep with Ernesto's wife.

🔺 RED TRIANGLE POINTED UP — does your oc know how to use any weapons? If it was required for Pietro to cut up a man, he could do it with expertise. This is because his father, Umberto, made his living as a butcher and had his sons assist with the shop. He knows how to cut chickens and remove their innards and just the same he knows vital spots on the human body. Frankly, he would prefer to use a gun to kill. 🐈 CAT — does your oc prefer a wide circle of friends or a few close friends? Pietro is a man with a few close friends. However, he feels it’s good to be sociable and know others: because when people think that they know you, they can be resourceful in times of need. Prison taught him the importance of keeping his circle small, but even as a child and teen Pietro was a quiet, observant boy. He could be in a group of people, only making a meaningful connection with roughly three or four other kids.

🍎 RED APPLE — where was your oc born? do they still live in/around their place of birth or do they live somewhere else? how do they feel about their birthplace? Pietro was born in Sicily [Tartosa] and now he resides in America so he is nowhere close to his birthplace. He misses Sicily, although he isn’t quite sure if he romanticizes his home country or not. Either way, Pietro isn’t fond of city living. Apartments terrified him as a kid - it’s too much noise and it didn’t seem right to stack people on top of each other. Houses located in busy districts are just as worse as the noise persists. He would rather live in quiet, unassuming suburbs where nothing happens or the countryside. However, living in the countryside means the commute to work would be too long, so Pietro settles for suburbia.

🖤 BLACK HEART — has your oc killed or seriously wounded anyone before? have they broken someone's heart and/or broken someone's trust? Hurting others comes with the nature of Pietro’s occupation. However, an instance of Pietro harming someone within Sink or Swim can be seen when he and others pummeled Mendel the dentist. Pietro has broken hearts and trust more on a profound level when it comes to his family. And that is something we will dive in later within this story’s narrative.

🍸 COCKTAIL GLASS — what is your oc's favorite alcoholic drink, if they can drink? Bourbon!

🧐 FACE WITH MONOCLE — is your oc more logical or emotional? Pietro is sneaky, but he is also logical and level-headed. He analyzes situations and he is a reflective thinker. He is capable of becoming emotional in certain situations, but it’s because something he really loves is on the line or something he cares about is at stake. Sometimes, you can get away with jumping and doing something risky when wrapped up in your emotions. But sometimes you can’t afford to.
