Then he pulls Luo Binge’s head away from his bosom without warning, holding him at arms’ length. Binghe feels his gut tighten with instant reaction when he meets Shizun’s half-lidded, liquor-sweet stare. Or: Luo Binghe puts his drunken husband to bed, but it’s BingMei, so there’s lots of feelings and some tears.

The first time Shen Qingqiu feels it, he thinks he’s experiencing some sort of minor qi deviation. “Shizun,” Luo Binghe asks quietly. “Are you okay?” “Am I not allowed to look at my husband?” Shen Qingqiu asks, doing his best not to get snippy. After all he’s a Peak Lord, a powerful cultivator, a man that has cheated death. There’s no reason for him to act like a needy spouse. “My lord,” the servant leans down again with their voice practically purring as they refill a cup that’s only a quarter empty. It catches Luo Binghe’s attention, interrupting the beaming look he had been about to shoot towards Shen Qingqiu. Despite the fact that Luo Binghe looks more bemused than entranced, Shen Qingqiu feels the porcelain cup in his own hand crack.

Luo Binghe is jealous of the attention Shen Qingqiu's showing other demons. In Shen Qingqiu's defence, they look really fucking cool. “We cannot leave our guests,” Shen Qingqiu starts. Quicker than he can comprehend it, Shen Qingqiu is flipped around, and immediately pressed against the wall once more. Normally, Shen Qingqiu finds Luo Binghe’s jealousy cute, but this time it punches the breath out of his lungs. Luo Binghe looks down at Shen Qingqiu, thick lashes lending to the lethal look in his eyes. “Of course,” Luo Binghe murmurs, reaching forward and running a knuckle alongside Shen Qingqiu’s cheek. Shen Qingqiu is so used to Luo Binghe’s extortionate expressions that when he turns something smoother, darker towards Shen Qingqiu, he’s at a loss for words. “We would not want to displease them.” “Now hold on—”

For Day 01 - Anime, I picked up Black Butler as inspiration! The new season of the anime is airing out and it definetly inspired me.

Dib (20) is a member, and future heir, of the Membrane Family. A family of estimated scientists and fierce students... Dib, however, has a fascination with the Supernatural, and his biggest dream is to prove to his father, Professor Earl Membrane, that the creatures in his silly books are real. To prove his theory, he goes through the summoning of a Demon to be his servant, and his evidence of the Supernatural... His ritual does indeed, bring him a demon... A Demon that annoys him, as he doesn't resemble any of the demonic creatures in his books. How is he supposed to prove to his father that this butler was a Demon??

"Zim" (???) was the name given to said Demon, as a clear inspiration from one of Dib's favorite childhood toys. Zim showed up in the form of a weird out of worldly creature, with his most "real" form resembling that of a tall, green creature with huge eyes and antennae. Zim brought alongside him Gir: a Hell Hound that, once again, was a dissapointment to Dib. No way in HELL his father would be convinced his new Butler + plush dog toy were Demons.

Zim has been designed the mission to serve, protect and help Dib prove to his father that the Supernatural is real, and in return, he shall have Dib's soul... How is he gonna do this, though? Those humans in particular were filthy and nasty creatures with little to no sense of fear for creatures like him, and STILL... The Dib Human is fascinating to him.

C!Dream brought c!Sapnap home before he died, but now has to confront something brand new to him: a worried adult. 

Dream was very relieved when the demon scooped up Sapnap, but less relieved when he was also pushed towards the house. He considered running, he really did but-

His entire body was tired and sore and the house didn’t look quite like a nest but it did look warm and safe.

So Dream let himself get pushed inside for whatever awaited him there. 

As it turned out, the demon was far more preoccupied with Sapnap. The demon handled Dream’s friend very delicately, putting him down right next to the roaring fire and running to grab potions. 

Dream wasn’t quite sure what he was supposed to do, but after deciding that the demon didn’t seem too dangerous, he shuffled a bit closer to the fire. His hands still felt numb, and he’d only just realized he was shivering. 

The demon fussed over Sapnap for another few minutes before rather suddenly snapping his gaze towards Dream, as if he’d just remembered Dream was there. 

 “Are you- I’m so sorry, I almost forgot- Are you alright? Did you get hurt at all? What happened?”

Dream just barely made out the questions, and once again he considered bolting for the door. 

 Still, what if the demon needed to know what happened to Sapnap? What if he didn’t let Sapnap come out to play anymore if Dream didn’t tell him?

 “I’m- I’m okay. Don’t think I’m still hurt. Just cold. We were cavin’ and the floor broke. We fell into a really cold river. I dragged ‘im out and gave him regen. Me too, for my hands. And strength ‘cause he’s heavy.” 

As Dream spoke, he shuffled his feet nervously, not sure if this demon was going to get mad at him. The man did have a tail which was helpful but he didn’t have wings and his tail movements were very different from what Dream was used to reading. He couldn’t tell if the demon was angry or not. 

When the demon responded, his voice didn’t sound angry. 

“You were- Okay. You two were in a cave. Okay. I- I’m glad you got him out. That was very brave of you and you must’ve been very determined to keep him safe. He’ll- he should be okay. He got cold, and that’s very scary for a blaze hybrid, but he’s warming up now. You should come here too, to warm up.” The demon then paused for a moment, seeming to realize something.

“You’re Dream, right? The boy that Sapnap keeps telling me about? I’m Badboyhalo, Sapnap’s father, but most people just call me Bad.”

Dream wasn’t quite sure how to respond, so he just nodded to confirm his name as he shuffled closer to fire. The shivering hadn’t quite stopped yet and his fingers were starting to ache more. He must’ve gotten pretty cold to not feel that.

The demon- Bad, didn’t seem happy with that. His brow furrowed and he reached out, gently grabbing Dream by the arm and pulling him until he was next to Sapnap. 

“Here, come here, you’re obviously cold. Sit here, let me go-” 

And as he spoke the man stood up, bustling over to the couch to grab a thick blanket that he draped around Dream’s shoulders. It was warm but a bit scratchy. Dream put up with it regardless. 

“There, that should help you warm up. Let me go make you something- Do you like hot chocolate? It’s Sapnap’s favorite drink. You aren’t allergic, right?”

Dream wasn’t sure what all-er-gic meant, but he shook his head regardless. If he didn’t know what it was, then clearly he couldn’t be it. He also didn’t know what hot chocolate was, but he knew that XD sometimes gave him chocolate ice cream and that tasted pretty good. So hot chocolate was also probably good?

As Dream quickly discovered, hot chocolate was actually amazing. Bad had even brought him a little tube that was much easier to drink with. He didn’t even need to move his mask!

As he sucked at the drink, Bad checked over Sapnap again, smiling at whatever he found. Which was a good sign probably? After his check, Bad turned back to Dream.

“Before I forget, Sapnap mentioned that you had a guardian- The two of you have been gone for quite awhile. It’s been almost a full day. Have you been able to contact them? I imagine they’re quite worried about you by now.” 

Oh, That was longer than Dream thought they’d been gone, but XD wouldn’t be worried. Dream had met him only a sunrise before he’d set out with Sapnap, so XD wouldn’t be looking for him for another few days. But Bad seemed to think that XD should be, which was weird. He’d need to pick his words carefully. 

“My guardian won’t be worried. They can always find me if they need to. If Sapnap’s okay then I should probably head home though. The hot chocolate was very nice though, thank you for making it.”

That seemed to alarm the demon, as Dream shrugged off the slightly scratchy blanket and offered the now empty mug back to him. His tail quickly lashed back and forth, something that set Dream on edge. 

“Wait, that’s not- I mean, it’s past nightfall. Mobs will be out right now. It’s not safe for you to walk back alone. Maybe your guardian could come pick you up? Or if you could wait just a little, Skeppy should be back soon. He was out looking for Sapnap, he could stay here and I could walk you back home?”

Uh. Dream had to pause in confusion. Why would it not be safe to walk at night? Night was very safe. It was when there were friends around that would give Dream directions or let him know about dangers. Plus it felt like home. It reminded him of the comfort of the void. His eyes weren’t quite as good at seeing in the dark as they used to be, but he was still well adjusted to it. Night felt far safer than day, it was much easier to go unnoticed. It was also easier to navigate when he had familiar stars above him. He also felt more connected to XD at night. It was far easier to call his guardian under the cover of darkness. 

Demons were from the nether, right? The nether didn’t have nights, so maybe that was why Bad was scared of them? That made sense to Dream, so he tried to explain, 

“I know night might seem scary, new things often seem scary, but it’s actually very safe! I know you don’t have it in the nether, but it’s a lot like day, it’s just darker. Your eyes get used to it pretty quickly. Maybe. I mean, my eyes get used to it quickly. I dunno about demon eyes. But once you learn how it works, you can use the stars to figure out where you are.” He gestured widely, trying to convey the wonders of the sky. (sometimes he missed flying, most times he missed flying). 

“Mobs really aren’t that scary either. They don’t bother you unless you bother them, and some of them are actually quite nice. Enderman are very nice and very safe. They help me reach fruit sometimes, and one even helped me get down from a very tall tree.”

He was trying to be comforting, Bad was probably just unused to the overworld, but the demon’s brow furrowed further and he seemed… confused? More so than before. And then his eyes fixed on Dream’s mask and went wide in some sort of realization. 

“Ah- I supposed that would make it a bit safer. Still, you’re too young to be out there alone. I would feel a lot better if someone was walking you back. You said they can find you- could you call them? Surely they wouldn’t mind coming to take you home?”

If Dream asked, he was sure that XD wouldn’t mind coming to take him back home. It actually would probably be nice, his legs were very tired and achy. Night was comforting, but it was also cold. But… XD was very nervous about strangers. He might not want to be seen. He might be worried about this demon or about Sapnap. Dream didn’t want his guardian getting nervous. So he stretched the truth a little.

“They’ll be with me. I’m never walking home alone, particularly not at night. If anything happens that I can’t handle, they’ll be there.” As he made his assurances, Dream shuffled his way to the door, with Bad hovering nearby. Not stopping him, but clearly not quite convinced. Hm. Oh! Right at the edge of his hearing, Dream heard a familiar noise. Something that reminded him of home. 

Throwing open the door, he called out with a loud VROOP and got a low whirr in response before a familiar black and purple figure strode out from the forest.

The enderman was tall, most of them were, and it seemed happy to see him. It did seem… nervous? Probably the lights of the house. It was a bit much. But it held out a clawed hand that Dream happily took before looking back towards Bad. 

Weirdly enough, the demon was looking at the floor he seemed… scared? Had he never met an enderman before? They were very nice. Or maybe there was something important about the floor? Oh well, Dream needed to get going.

“Okay, I have someone to walk with me now, so I’m gonna get going home. Goodbye, Bad! Thank you for the hot chocolate!” 

With his thanks given, he led the enderman out of the yard and into the dark, feeling his guardian’s presence wrap around him as he did so. The soreness in his muscles eased and he felt a new spring in his step as he hurried along back towards his treehouse, back towards home where safety awaited.

Do you think Crowley is still ‘fallen’ in the Hollow Knight world? Of course I know he’s not a demon but do you think he went with the Traitor Lord and then just like changed his king and went to hang out with Aziraphale? How would they have met in this world? (I’m sorry you don’t have to answer this but it’s like my favorite show and favorite game had a baby and I’m very excited about it (Also I absolutely adore your art))

Hmmmm, I don’t think that he is “fallen” in this version. At least not at the point where he happily lives together with Azira. And yeah, he didn’t went with the Traitor Lord an his followers because they got banned for purposely embracing the infection for more power, which he actually didn’t want at all.

Crowley and Azira build their little house at the edge of the map, far away from the source of the Radiances influence in hope they could live peacefully. (This house part especially was inspired by FL0Y4uwu’s version on twitter)

But maybe as a moth Azi had a special connection to the Radiance so she found him afterall and called out to him in his dreams (aka infecting him).

I dunno if this is maybe like the Traitor Lord’s child and the Grey Mourner’s story where the mantis tribe was against their love. Maybe Crowley left his tribe for Azi so the two could be “their own tribe”. A group of two and such XD

I think you could maybe say that Crowley has fallen when Azi died and the desire for revenge has overcome him to even let himself get infected like the Traitor Lord.

And about the “how did they met” I don’t really have a specific HC.

But here are some spontaneous thoughts: I think that Azira felt pretty lonely as one of the last moths and Crowley didn’t really felt like he fit anywhere but they enjoyed each other’s company and eventually more feelings were developed.

Oh maybe Crowley wandered through Deepnest and found a lost and hurt Azira who probably accidentally fell down from the Queen’s Station. Usually the mantises kill everything that comes from Deepnest but Crowley helped the stranger, not sensing a threat coming from the moth bug.

I dunno that was just a spontaneous idea I came up with while writing this XD

Hello, this is my first request so excuse me if it's misunderstanding

So, I had a dream about neteyam x human reader who is a woman. Reader it's paralyzed from the waist down, like Jake. But the only difference is that she doesn't and won't have an avatar. Usually, she doesn't leave her room so when Neteyam comes over, he has to carry her everywhere so she thinks she's a bother. He assures her that carring her it's not bother and it's rather adorable to see her tiny frame in his big arms.

Susyang

The story of Jake Sully, the sixth Toruk Makto, the Olo'eyktan of the Omatikaya clan, has been share all over pandora. How he arrived in such a weak form but managed to rise and defeat the sky demons.

Susyang, a human girl was born in Pandora. She along with another human named spider. But there is a large difference between them. Spider is very strong, athletic, and can freely move where ever he desires. Susyang? She cant.

When her mother was pregnant, things were fine until during her birth. Things did not go well. During her birth, her mother passed away, and the birthing complications affected her lower half of the body. Was never told what went wrong but susyang's chance of walking was taken before she could even open her eyes.

Forever to never use her legs until her last breath. Strapped in a wheelchair to move around the lab, and forever to be inside. Pandora is already dangerous enough for a human to move around. Susyang hold no chance to last an hour.

But she makes the most of it, reading so many books about pandora, watch the scientists do their daily work. Would even chat and talk about interesting plants or animals they found.

One of her favorite things to talk about are the native people. The na'vi. How she wishes to meet one. Norm did his best with his avatar body, while happy, susyang still sees norm through his blue body. To meet a real one, to interact and play. Wouldn't that be a dream...

"Wait another human kid lives with you?" little kiri asks to spider. Everyone was eating some fruit they collected and enjoying a bright sunny day. Spider nods, "yeah, she is really nice and super smart!". Interested at peak, kiri asks more, "why hasn't she come out with you? is she smaller?". At that, spider's smile falls a bit into a sad expression.

"She cant" he replied. Lo'ak turned, his eyebrows forming down, not understanding. "What do you mean she cant? are there enough masks?" he asks, spider shook his head no. "It is not that, its just....she cant leave so easily like me. Her legs don't work". Lo'ak and kiri immediately know what he meant.

Their father has explained his time as human, how he was limited to his wheelchair because of his dead weighted legs. Sadness and pity took over their emotions, "well what if we come to her instead? We can play with her and so she wont feel lonely" kiri suggests. Spider liked the idea and already the three began to plan things out.

The following day, everything was normal in the lab. Susyang was reading a book when spider came into her room already setting the wheelchair in front of her bed. "Hey, come come!" spider was very energetic and seemed to be in a rush. Raising her eyebrow, susyang looked at spider, "why? is something going on?". Not really answering her, spider carefully lifts susyang from the bed and gently to the chair. Quickly securing her legs, spider wheeled her out of the room in high speeds.

The sudden action startled susyang, making her squeal a bit. "Spider! hey hey! stop it! where are you taking me!?" feeling a bit scared she is under spider's mercy. Spider didn't reply as he strolled her to the entrance of the lab.

Suddenly coming to halt, susyang who was closing her eyes opened after a moment. Spider went in front of her and extended his arms wide with a huge smile. "I want you to meet my friends! this is kiri, lo'ak and neteyam sully!", susyang opened her mouth wide in shock. Her head lifting up to see their massive height. True na'vi! in front of her!

How badly she wanted to say something, but all came out was tiny squeaks and cute noises. The na'vi kids giggled at her noises thus making her blush in embarrassment. "She is so cuuuuuuute~!" kiri coos as she gently squishes susyang cheeks.

Lo'ak played with her hair, getting the feel of her soft texture while neteyam bend down to her level and smiles softly at her. Susyang blushed a bit seeing him. But she had to keep her cool no matter what!

"spider told us a lot about you. We decided to come and play with you" neteyam says. He carefully observed her actions, the tiniest hint can say much about a human. "u-umm th-thank you!" she smiles sweetly, feeling lucky and thankful for spider.

Neteyam got closer, opening his arms, susyang looked at him, "n-neteyam...!"

"Neteyam please I beg of you to not drop me!" 15 year old susyang clung tightly on the back of 15 year old neteyam. The boy chuckled, making sure his friend was holding tightly as he climbs higher on the trees.

Today neteyam planned things out for susyang to enjoy. After meeting each other, they became inseparable. Connected at arms, both neteyam and susyang were just really close to each other.

Despite susyang insecurities, neteyam is always there to cheer her up. Making sure that she belongs in pandora just like spider. Which is why neteyam has a nice surprise for her. With the help of his father and brother, they build a gift susyang would love.

Arriving at the north river, neteyam cleared the way to reveal something to susyang. "No way, is that...?" susyang says, looking at what is in the water.

A boat. A simple boat fitting for na'vi size. But it was beautiful, was decorated with lovely carvings and full of beautiful flowers. "Oh neteyam...this is beautiful!!" susyang says with emotional joy in her voice. With a huge sigh of relief, neteyam relaxed. It was two weeks of hard work to create it, with every carving was dedicated to susyang, in hopes this would be a better travelling method for her.

Carefully and gently, neteyam lays susyang on the boat, where it is softly cushioned with fibers and leaves. Making sure she is secured well, he hops on, and with a paddle, he begins the journey.

Settling in a peaceful silence, susyang takes notice of the small details of the boat, touching it as if it was made of glass. There is clear evidence that it was done by love and care. It made susyang appreciate it all more.

Looking up at neteyam who is steering the boats direction, she smiles in adoration. Her dear friend had spent so much time to make sure she is comfortable and safe while being out in the forest. It made her feel a bit....guilty. Had her legs work, perhaps she would have been as free as spider.

Arriving at their destination, neteyam picks her up bridal style. "How much further is it?" susyang asks, "not far, almost there" neteyam answers. What else is there to show? Susyang knows every corner of the forest after so many years.

Few minutes later, they arrived in a small hut, above the trees but near the river. It was lovely, cushioned softly, and everything was close at arms. The shade was perfect, the view was perfect. All was perfect. "What is this...?" she asks silently, but neteyam heard her. Placing her in the middle of the hut, he gestures to the whole area, "this is is for you. Me and the others worked on this so you can enjoy the forest, way better than being stuck in your room".

Neteyam smiled brightly as he explained, feeling quiet accomplished and proud. Anything to make his dear friend smile. But then he heard sniffles and weeping. Looking down, he sees susyang crying. Quickly bending down to her side, he cradles her in his big arms.

"What's wrong? does it hurt? did I do something wrong?" he asked, worry heavy in his voice. Susyang only cried louder, letting her salty tears fall from her eyes. Now neteyam felt really panicked. Was it not to her liking? Was it too rough the cushions? Not enough space? Was the items too far away? Each second passed and neteyam's inner worries were rising.

"y-you....!! and th-the others.....!! did all this for m-me.....!! I am s-so sorry for making you do this....!!" was all susyang could say without it being a mess of tears. His ears perked up at that, why is she apologizing?

"susyang....no no, there is nothing to be sorry for. Why would you say sorry? You haven't done anything wrong" neteyam says gently. Stroking her back, trying to sooth her. But her tears keep falling without stopping.

This was the first time neteyam heard her confess like that. He understood that not having functioning limbs can be a burden but never to this extent.

Cradling her in his arms, he gently rocks side to side as means to hopefully calm her down. Placing a small kiss on her head, he waits it out for her to cry it all out. Perhaps it was the pent up frustration that needed to be released. Keeping your emotions all bottled up is never a good thing.

"sssshhh....you are not a burden susyang. Not to me, not to anyone. You are everything to me, nothing about you is a burden. I enjoy spending time with you and I enjoy doing these things for you. Those words struck susyang right in the feels. Making her stop crying at once. But instead of sadness, her tears were replaces with that of tears of joy.

"w-what? why are you crying again!?" neteyam asked with more worry again. Susyang laughed and put her whole body weight on him. "I am not s-sad silly.....!! I am just happyyyyyyy!!" she cries while smiling. Neteyam always seems to find a way to get to her heart.

As she let her happiness show, neteyam just gives her more kisses and laughs a bit. As long as susyang is happy and comfortable. That is all it matters to him.

Alright folks, now that it's been a while, I can talk about a spoiler for Welcome Home.

So this little thing has been living in my head for months and I have yet to see anyone else talk about it.

Everyone has been talking about Eddie's experience since the homewarming update and rightfully so! However, I have yet to see anyone talk about the super sad and maybe cryptic message at the end of Frank's song, "Bug-a-Bye and Goodnight: An Ode to Hibernation".

It goes:

"Regardless of how I feel you need to go away, I’ll be the one to tell you, you just can’t stay, Thankfully I lack a sentimental sensibility, I enjoy my Methodical Mundanity, Where all that’s left is… Me."

Like, maybe I'm looking to much into it, but dude...what a heavy verse!

When I heard it the first time I was like, omg is this what he told Eddie? Like, we don't know the full situation of the story yet, but I'm very curious if this has more to do with what's going on!

I also have a sneaking suspicion about Sally hanging out on top of the tree all day too (maybe she was looking for the 'creature' while using her eccentricity as an excuse to go up the tree), but who knows!

And all the references to dreams, sleeping, Wally being like a sleep paralysis demon to the person doing the restoration project, etc. Is terribly fascinating.

Anyway, wanted to throw these thoughts out there, because I see nothing but our poor delightful mailman with his Mickey and the Beanstalk meal xD I never thought Eddie would become a favorite, but the Halloween update really made me love the guy.

So in Shiningnight's fic, its 1957 and Vox comes over to Al's place to show him the movie he's starred in, and our favorite Radio demon get a little too jealous of the doe demon starring alongside Vox >:3

The film Vox stars in takes inspiration from the film Sabrina with Audrey Hepburn and so Shining wanted this comm to take inspo from that film as well, sending me these beautiful references:

Our first image on the left was the general inspiration, but then they made the fantastic request to give Alastor a suit inspired by the dress Audrey is wearing in the image on the right!

Based on that I made a few concepts, and we ended up settling on the sketch in pink below, after which I got to line it, which was a really satisfying process this time around! it's probably one of my favorite bits of lineart I've done in a good long while.

Overall, this comm was a blast and a half, and I cannot think SN enough for their support - for going out of their way and asking if I offered commissions, you have no idea what that meant to me. Thank you so much for supporting me and my art <333 I've wanted to be an artist my entire life, and your support makes me feel like I'm a huge leap closer to my dreams.

It was rare that Alastor slept as it was, but it was even more rare that he had a dream that was good.

His dream was bits and pieces, memories fragmented in what seemed like an old picture show. Running through a timeline of their friendship. From first meetings-

To intense hunting trips, which they both derived a feral joy from.

And the 'tea parties'. Oh how fun those were! She always provided the snacks and tea (making him coffee instead, like the spoiled Radio Demon he was!), and the gossip often flowed as much as the pours of tea.

Sure, she'd get mad at him sometimes, as he did tend to go a bit overboard with his antics.

But she always forgave him in the end.

But his favorite, his favorite moment with her, would always be dancing. It gave him a sense of closeness he didn't always share with everyone. And he loved the way her dark eyes seemed to light up when they shared a dance.

It was the closest thing to love he could ever experience, and he was grateful for her.

The graphic novel for Dreams Come to Life releases on August 6th, 2024. That said, I've received word that some people have received their copies early. For everyone reading this in the future, today is July 23rd. 2024. Once again, Scholastic has failed the challenge of releasing their book when they said they would. XD

So this is your reminder to go mute and block the tags related to the graphic novel/DCTL if you don't want to see it/don't want to be spoiled on what the pages look like. For those of you partaking in the book, please be considerate and tag your spoilers, or at the very least, warn people upfront that you won't be tagging spoilers so they can curate their feed accordingly. Do not harass anyone because of how they choose to draw and interpret fictional characters. Not everything has to be perfectly in line with what we're given to be valid. Let's keep it civil. If there was ever a time Sanemi would not be getting sleep, it’d be whenever Mitsuri keeps reacting to anything even remotely associated with Just Dance

Just think: Mitsuri would be into pop music, and from what I learned growing up, Just Dance is literally the gateway to learning all the popular music and some underground gems. Example: I recall Satellite by Lena Meyer-Landrut to be from Eurovision because I vaguely remember Just Dance 3 (I didn’t have it growing up, I skipped to 4) having it, and that was before I even knew what Eurovision was!

Bonus, Toy by Netta is also a Eurovision song, and was, in fact, the 2018 Eurovision winner.

Bonus 2: Oops (Hit ‘Em Upstyle) by Blu Cantrell, an early 2000s song that ended up trending some time ago, is a huge favorite of mine. I got in on the audio trend at one point and I got asked what the name of the song was by a commenter, so I immediately gave them the name of the song without looking it up (that’s how well I know the song)

(Okay, enough about me rambling, I’m getting back on track)

No matter what game in the series, there’s always a good amount of well known songs (for better or worse) that get thrown into the mix, so there will be some rock dwellers out there that know of this franchise. It’s been going on for 15 years now, and so much has changed since 2009. There’s so many songs that got put into the series at this point (and some cut, RIP Mamaoo’s HIP and Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This), SCREW YOU, SELFISH LEAKER THAT CAUSED IT! (● ˃̶͈̀ロ˂̶͈́)੭ꠥ⁾⁾), so there’s gotta be at least one that will catch someone’s eye. It’s only a little less than a year older than My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, which debuted in October 10th, 2010, and we know damn well how much of a culture shock that was!

Even I’m not immune to it, I straight up made about 50 of the Demon Slayer characters into MLP ones (yes, 50, I’m not even joking), and I put down about 200 of them to be done like that. It was my chokehold before Demon Slayer attached itself to me! Hell, my OC is based on MLP G4!

If there’s ever a contest on what franchise got me stuck in it, Just Dance would take the bronze (and silver if KNY and MLP are tying) simply for sticking around and managing to be present in my life since 2009. Even if I don’t have the game, I still look up songs in any installment of the franchise just to listen to it for the heck of it. Hot ‘N Cold, Maps, Mi Gente, Soy Yo, you name it!

(This literally went from talking about how Sanemi is not gonna sleep once Mitsuri gets into Just Dance to me rambling about the impact it had on my life XD)

Mitsuri would, of course, be into the dancing because what else is this woman gonna do, watch the pretty colors? Hell no, her ass is gonna obliterate anyone who challenges her to a game of Just Dance (unless you’re Tengen or Kyojuro because both have enough energy to compete with her for longer than what’s considered normal exhaustion) and will memorize the routines up the wazoo.

And it’s not just gonna be her dancing to the songs in the game, she’s gonna be belting her heart out too at all hours whenever she’s playing. Tribal Dance? Easy. Love You Like A Love Song? Top 20 on her playlist. Dancing Queen, Waterloo, The Winner Takes It All? ABBA will be a cinch in a Peloponnesian Super Speedy Cider Squeezy Sundae second (do not ask how I came up with that) within an hour!

And don’t even get me started on how she’ll go the whole ‘round of the world on the cosplays of the coaches! Don’t ask her to not get so much up-cycling material because she’ll insist that it won’t be as fun if she doesn’t get into character and wants to be as accurate as possible to them. This will include roping the other Hashira into doing the routines if more than one coach is in it and involves lifting the other person up (like the OG I’ve Had The Time Of My Life, not the Dirty Bit version), and yes, Obanai will comply. It ends up with him getting into the video game series as well at some point because god forbid, Tengen mocks him for being a “buzzkill” and Obanai will want to humiliate the Sound Hashira at his own craft for that slander just because he wants to pop that ego for once. And he’ll proceed to risk breaking his ankles in the process because he only picked the extremes and the super hard routines that require some sort of willpower to not collapse and crash afterwards.

Sanemi will be at his limit with the shenanigans, but does not fancy having the Grim Reaper be 5’3 and have a danger noodle.

2023 Favorites

I'm kinda glad I was keeping track of what I watched, in retrospect, because looking back over my posts this year, I realized I forgot about a lot of stuff. XD After looking over the recaps and excluding rewatches, here's my top ten New Stuff I Watched for 2023:

10. Cabinet Of Curiosities

Bizarre nightmares unfold in eight tales of terror in a visually stunning, spine-tingling horror collection curated by Guillermo del Toro.

If GDT is your guy, give this a watch. Creature features, cursed objects, aliens, you name it. 8/8 tentacled eldritch abominations.

9. Wolf Creek

Three backpackers stranded in the Australian outback are plunged inside a hellish nightmare of insufferable torture by a sadistic psychopathic local.

Holy shit, this was intense. And as I said initially, so mean. If you're into Texas Chainsaw Massacre, try this. I'm into franchise bingo, so I'm going to look into the sequels and TV series. 3/3 heads on a stick.

8. Requiem For A Dream

The drug-induced utopias of four Coney Island people are shattered when their addictions run deep.

I get the feeling this is one of those that hurts so much more on rewatching, so there's that to look forward to. I've also rarely seen movies that do so much harmonizing between the music and the visuals, and it was so satisfying. 4/4 refrigerator jump scares.

7. Evil Dead Rise

A twisted tale of two estranged sisters whose reunion is cut short by the rise of flesh-possessing demons, thrusting them into a primal battle for survival as they face the most nightmarish version of family imaginable.

This was probably the most fun I had with a horror movie all year, TBH. Horror exploring family dynamics will always be a fave, and this brought plenty of fresh stuff to the franchise while also holding onto the core traits. 5/5 Staffenies.

6. Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves

A charming thief and a band of unlikely adventurers embark on an epic quest to retrieve a lost relic, but things go dangerously awry when they run afoul of the wrong people.

This was the most fun I had watching a movie all year, period. If you know nothing about DND, it's a good fantasy movie. If you're a DND nerd, the game mechanics are baked into it. If you're a fan of found families, guess what! 6/6 stealth checks.

5. Cowboy Bebop

A ragtag crew of bounty hunters chases down the galaxy's most dangerous criminals. They'll save the world--for the right price.

I got exactly what I wanted out of this, so haters be damned. The anime is a masterpiece and a classic, but if you're not in the mood for the existentialism and other heavier themes, here ya go. 3/3 shower-bath-showers.

4. The Black Phone

After being abducted by a child killer and locked in a soundproof basement, a 13-year-old boy starts receiving calls on a disconnected phone from the killer's previous victims.

Near perfect, as far as I'm concerned. The older I get, the more kids-in-danger as a concept fucks with me, making this the most stressful movie I watched this year (though It Chapter One gave it a run for its money, and I still think they would make a great double feature). 5/5 black balloons.

3. Evil Dead (2013)

Five friends head to a remote cabin, where the discovery of a Book of the Dead leads them to unwittingly summon up demons living in the nearby woods.

It's gnarly. It's badass. I almost puked. I had THE BEST time. The story works as an effective allegory, the effects are gruesomely awesome, and the finale is metal af. Plain and simple. 70,000/70,000 gallons of fake blood.

2. The Crow

A man brutally murdered comes back to life as an undead avenger of his and his fiancée's murder.

Beautiful, sad, aesthetic for days, hella good soundtrack. *chef kiss* I still haven't seen The Batman, but they seem visually similar, so if you like that, you'll probably like this. For more in-depth thoughts, read my post. 1/1 epic rooftop guitar solos.

1. The Fall Of The House Of Usher

To secure their fortune (and future) two ruthless siblings build a family dynasty that begins to crumble when their heirs mysteriously die, one by one.

Not just a new favorite Mike Flanagan. A new favorite in general, and my number one for the year. I just screamed about this one last month, and I don't have anything more to add. I've seen Succession comparisons, and while I have no idea how accurate that is, there's my "if you like that, here's this." Holy crap. 7/7 deadly sins personified.

Also, PIDW canon suggests YQY is taller so it makes sense. The first fic he reads is YQY subjugating LBH and it leaves a sour taste in his mouth that he almost quits this whole endeavor to learn about the ways of the Green JJ sisters. Yes Yue Qingyuan and Luo Binghe are foes but so what!? Isn't this an alternate reality? In what world would Bingge take that and not fight tooth and nail if he was being forced?! And what about YQY's kindly big brother nature??? Too OOC!!

Recs: Clint/Bucky fics with 200-500 kudos

after going through the entire Clint/Bucky pairing tag on AO3, I did a recs post for my favorite fics with under 200 kudos (a range covering more than half of the works in the tag) and now I've decided to do one for fics with 200-500 kudos (another ~quarter of the tag). there are 36 pages of fic with more than 500 kudos, so I figure most people won't get to these on a casual binge.

What Spring Does With the Cherry Trees, by @bittercape (32k) Bucky moves into Clint's apartment building and starts working on figuring out what he likes. this one has that lovely chill vibe where they both kinda know where their relationship is heading and neither of them is in too much of a rush to get there, which is my absolute favorite kind of slow burn, and there's a lot of focus on reflection and healing and self-care and just hangin out being comfortable with each other <3

You Can Never Go Home Again, by @flawedamythyst (49k) Clint and Bucky get sent back in time to 1939, and Bucky slowly unlearns his internalized homophobia and realizes that the "just two straight buddies helping each other out" handjobs they've been exchanging are not actually straight. I did a literal double-take when I saw how few kudos this had, it is one of my favorite fics in this pairing and it has the single hottest first kiss I have ever read in my entire life

Delicate Tension, by @feedmecookiesnow (53k) beautiful, quiet, sweet, sexy road trip fic, with lots of pleasant imagery in Bucky's photography and a satisfying slow-ish burn that resolves about halfway through so there's some nice early relationship navigation too. the tags are accurate but don't really convey the vibe of it, the trauma stuff is fairly low-key and the general feel is uplifting. also, the choice of tattoo on Clint's ass is INSPIRED, just an absolute *chef's kiss* bit of characterization there

Days That Used To Last A Lifetime, by @there-must-be-a-lock (10k) in which Clint is a dog walker and Bucky is a shameless flirt and both of them are a hot mess and do a lot of recreational drugs and end up murmuring secrets to strangers at ass o'clock in the morning in someone else's apartment

Sequestered, by @lizabethl (38k) in which Clint and Bucky are separately sent off to the same beach house for a much-needed vacation, then hop back on duty just long enough to temporarily acquire a child. deals with some tough stuff but it's mostly about healing and connection and growth

Hydra's Bite, by @flawedamythyst (118k) Buffy AU with a long piney slow burn and great found-family vibes. Clint is the Xander who rescues Bucky from a nest of hydras, Natasha is the Slayer, Coulson is kind of the Giles except undead, Jarvis is the ghost butler, Bruce has a demon living in him, and Tony inherited leadership of the Watchers' Council from his dad. also there's a running joke about all the demons Clint has fucked XD

quickly dream away the time; and then the moon, by @cloud--atlas (16k) Clint is housesitting Tony Stark's mansion in the Hamptons when Lucky gets through a hole in the hedge and makes friends with the hot rich neighbor

Gonna Be My Girl?, by @mightymightygnomepriest (46k) Clint and Bucky hook up while Clint is dressed up as a schoolgirl for Halloween, then they both make some assumptions they shouldn't be making and Clint keeps fucking Bucky in girl mode only. I'm not generally a fan of this kind of miscommunication-based plot, but this one really worked for me
