Bouquets/Flowers They'd Give You
Nothing much. Just some headcannons about what kind of bouquets the demons would gift you. Maybe modern au maybe not idk. None of the images are mine I just found them on Google and Pinterest. Daki n Rui are platonic gift givers. No romance from those two.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kokushibo is a traditional man and as such would stick with the classic but beautiful full rose bouquet sometimes with baby breath to make it asthetically pleasing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Is it really a surprise this guy would get you something that reminds the both of you of him? They're very pretty though so it's all good.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You want a teddy bear, flowers, balloons for your special date? This man gets you all in one package and makes sure to make it pleasing to look at. Everything for his darling.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If it's regular Kny he'd just scoop up whatever wild flowers are growing around him and present them to you but since we're going with modern here, he doesn't have a lot of money to throw away on flowers that'll just die so he takes his time to really make you something permanent you both can cherish forever by doing origami. The many paper cuts are worth it seeing you smile.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In a similar way to Gyutaro, Daki would want to gift something permanent you both could enjoy forever however she'd be more splurge-y than her brother and gift you a flower clip or hairpin.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kaigaku barely gets you flowers in the first place but if you mention wanting to be gifted flowers long enough or if it's a special enough occasion he wants to celebrate, he'll get you something. But not a full bouquet, he'll just get you a simple rose or flower.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nakime really doesn't get you flowers too often either, but on the rare occasion she does it's either a single rose like Kaigaku or flowers matching her own aesthetic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So I just found out that seashell bouquets are actually a thing, and they have to be glued together and stuff. Seems like a good enough fit for the fish man.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look he can be a sappy romantic if he wants to be. A big bouquet of roses and chocolate strawberries are the object of his choice if he's going to go all out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
he often worries about what to get you. He doesnt want to look too guady with a fancy oversized bouquet but he's also worried about a single flower not being enough so he gets you something in the middle all tied up in ribbon and lace. Please tell him you love it, he's very nervous.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This guy has money to burn. He practically shoves one of those really beautiful but really expensive bouquets with the big flowers covered in gems in your arms and calls it a day. It's expensive and maybe tacky but he doesn't see it that way.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
like any sweet child, he just plucks whatever flowers he finds growing on the ground and gifts it to anyone he likes.

Hello. Since you've returned to writing about Kimetsu no Yaiba, how about Enmu, Kyogai and Muzan reacting on their S/O, upon finding out that they are demons, just shrugs and offers them bowl with their blood?
S/O Not Being Bothered About Being with a Demon
Fandom: Demon Slayer
Character(s): Enmu, Kyogai, Muzan
Type of Request: Headcanons
Note(s): I'm glad you included Kyogai as a palette cleanser cause the other two ain't it.
Tumblr media
Enmu
Him and Muzan are similar in "Good, you know your place" as he gladly takes the bowl from you before tossing it aside. Like he's going to accept a gift like that when you're right there.
There is a bit of him that does keep an eye on you to see if you're deceiving him to find a way to escape. He is very pleased that you don't.
But you must know, S/O, that there is a lot more to do with him being a demon than just eating people. And since you're so willing to share your blood, surely you'll be fine seeing what other things he has in store for you.
Kyogai
Honestly, a bit hesitant at drinking blood from you at all. He knows he's a demon, but that doesn't mean he necessarily wants your blood.
Lots of people and Slayers stumble into his home and he's more than happy from their corpses, he doesn't want to become addicted to only you. You can't exactly live if you don't have blood and he doesn't know if he could contain himself to not kill you.
Of course, since you really don't mind, then he'll accept the offering. Just know that this doesn't have to be a regular thing just because you know he's a demon now.
Muzan
He's glad that you know your place, but thinks it's silly of you to think he'd want to drink from a bowl.
You'll sit down and give him your arm for him to bite into. You act nonchalant so he'll see if you truly don't care or if you're pretending in hopes you get special treatment or something.
Muzan won't hurt you though. Well not this time because it's sweet of you to not judge him for being a nasty demon. Next time though, you'll get to feel his teeth sinking into you. And then he'll see where your loyalties lie.

Sorry, I had submitted this request earlier but forgot to specify the type of post I wanted. I would like to request a headcanon reader x kyogai, akaza and gyutaro (separate) where the reader is the opposite of a damsel in distress, being very cool, independent, humorous, strong, smart, never falters under pressure besides being well-groomed and civilized, she can be very sweet to them but sometimes she teases them harmlessly and can be quite persuasive. I love your writing!!!
Akaza | Gyutaro | Kyogai [X Reader]
In which their s/o is very independant and can easily defend herself.
Tumblr media
Akaza
It's very hard to match him up in strength considering your human limitations
But even so, it's impressive that you can at least bring him to a struggle during a strength-only battle
He does go easy on you, I mean, you can't compare to his ability to punch someone's jaw off, but he has a relaxed fighting mode and you both train together sometimes
Regardless, Akaza is happy to have met someone that trains and works out with him
Besides sheer strength, you could outwit him very easily, sometimes gaslighting him a little bit over something stupid, which makes him laugh when he realised you almost got him
I mean seriously, who would think brown cows make chocolate milk? Almost him, apparently
While he is naturally very defensive of you when it comes to his colleagues, he trusts you to be on your own
No one would pick a fight with you because you're so good at working it out, and even if they did, he knew you'd leave them with a scar and a face to never forget
The one time he saw you knock a man out scared him just a bit, because you do sort of baby him in your personal time and seem so kind
EIther way, he loves his knight in shining armour
Gyutaro
You're first meeting was actually you shielding him from the sun, before he was yet an uppermoon, only a few decades after he and his sister had transformed
And with a first impression like that, you'd managed to get along very well
Gyutaro had always been the older sibling, the protector, he never had someone going out of the way to look after him
It healed a part of him he didn't know he had, the one that longs for a security only parents or a guardian figure can provide
Despite that, he viewed you as equals, but it felt nice to know someone could back him up if he wanted or needed it, that it wasn't just him protecting Daki
You acted the other half his sister didn't have, he watched you show her how to do makeup, you helped her dress to become an oiran, did her hair, found her accessories none of her suitors could find or compare in the beauty or intricacy of
Gyutaro felt for once, he could relax, he could step back and do things he needed without the fear of leaving his sister alone
You were his safe place, his person, the only human he'd allow to live a good life because you deserved it for everything you did for others
Kyogai
Surprisingly, for a human, you match him in strength if not stronger- so long as you leave the demon blood art out of the equation
That was never something he knew until you asked him to spar you for a bit, since your partner was busy that week
Before that, he just understood you to have a very heroic personality
When you met him, you had encouraged both his writing and his drumming, and gone to stores he couldn't to get him finer writing supplies, and things he could use to bind his writing so it was protected
Beyond that, you told stories of people who had met long ago and how you continue to keep tabs on them, some of them going from hobbyist to making careers out of it that's to you
It was touching, if not making him a tad guilty for being almost the complete opposite of you
Sometimes he worries you don't need him, since you were so well off without him, and so happy without him, too
But you argue that he lets you be yourself, and not have to always smile, because as joyous as you may be, everyone has their hardships
Kyogai is always there to support you emotionally
And if something happens that you can't figure out, he will go to great lengths to help you find a solution
Tumblr media
Authors Note - This took awhile to sit down and write for some ungodly reason but thank you for requesting and I hope you enjoy!!

Within the Yokai's Realm
Within the Yokai's Realm - Chapter 4 (will be a LONG.. long... story... currently being cross posted on AO3) various kizuki members x fem reader (polyam?? idk) list: kokushibo, douma, akaza, aizetsu, sekido, karaku, urogi, nakime, gyutaro, kaigaku, hairo, enmu, kyogai rui, zohakuten, and daki are mentioned but are not love interests(for obvious reasons) summary: The Yokai.
Once thought to rule over Japan with an iron fist, to scurry about every home and every forest within the land. Though many assortments existed, a key defining fact was that when they prowled, humans lived in fear. Gifts were sent out to earn favor or deter attacks, but one day, spirits began to appear less and less. Now, the tales of Yokai are merely told to children as lessons or to spark fear and fun, and those who truly believe in them are simply a bit ridiculous... at least, that's your own opinion on the matter.
However, when an attacking group of bandits demand your life in promise to spare your village, what will happen when things play out rather unexpected? It all started with that damned shrine maiden.
warnings: none for this chapter, but later chapters may hold canon typical violence or slightly suggestive situations/dialogue. no smut will be included
wordcount(for this chapter): 4,371 > total (including prior chapters): 17,999 A/N: OC's are mentioned and play as background characters/old friends of the reader, but are not main characters and wont be showing up much. this fic is set within an AU where demons are instead various yokai from traditional japanese mythology

At this point, you had long since figured out the wonder of rolling your sleeve up to wipe the drying wolf blood from your face along your forearm. The hilt of a broken blade was clenched in your palm carefully, a dash of frustration causing you to absentmindedly clench your fist, and tentatively you realized you were in fact gripping onto bare metal. There was a flash of panic as you hissed in a breath through your teeth, quickly looking down at your hand as you pinched the blade within your other hand, checking for any damage. Now, for a moment you had assumed any lack of pain had been from the adrenaline of the situation and whatever the Hell was wrong with this place, but you were dazzled by nothing but pristine skin across your palm.
A lack of a cut, despite how you had definitely squeezed it far too tightly to have escaped any lacerations. You briefly checked to see if the blood still staining your hand was your own, but with a quick run over the skin, there was no wetness or warmth of an injury, no raise or gash in flesh. Your eyebrows furrowed as you took a second to glance away in thought, or at the very least divert your attention away to give yourself some pause. You had experienced far too much so far and had none of the injuries to prove it; in fact, you were certain you got more injured with the occasional scrape and bruise from just your normal everyday routine, musing to yourself as you carefully tucked the blade away into a separate compartment of your obi. There was no doubt about it that after falling down a damn cliff and whatever had happened with that wolf, you would most definitely be feeling a lot worse for wear.
For a moment you lifted your hand, about to push your hair back out of exasperation, but quickly you were reminded of the red stains still present in the creases of your skin. You frowned before continuing on, briefly thinking back on what little information you had. Apparently you reeked of fox magic, but you haven’t really interacted with any wild animals lately, and the only thing that had changed was the sudden addition of that charm… you frowned just a bit harder. Kaigaku had a reaction to it. Was it important?
Wait.
You paused for a second, lifting your eyebrows in a slight shock. Was Tamashi a fox? Did Tamashi do this?? You didn’t really care about keeping the white kimono as ‘pristine’ as it was anymore, halting as you quickly dug your hands into your obi, fishing the wooden block out again as you stared at it with wide eyes. There it was, as auspicious as before, slightly ruffled and scuffed but otherwise unchanged. What had Tamashi of all people been thinking, sending you here? You had half a mind to toss it right into the brush and be rid of whatever magic it held, and you would have, expression scrunching into a frustrated scowl as you reared one arm back to pitch it far, far away.
But you didn’t. Something in the back of your mind nagged at you, reminding you that clearly this place was dangerous, if the Yokai prowling about didn’t already make that obvious enough. Whatever was going on, it seemed like this thing had been protecting you, and until you were gone from this place and back to where you belonged, it would be for the best to keep it. Or perhaps you were wrong, and maybe it wasn’t connected at all to your current situation. Perhaps Tamashi wasn’t some fox who spirited you away after all. However you were relatively sure it was definitely a fox who had done it, but whatever, you can think more on it later.
Thankfully, the blood on your palms had dried up, leaving only a few flakes and dusted stains on the white fabric of your kimono. Most likely it would wash out simply enough, and as you continued walking, you could hear the distant babbling of a stream. You tilted your head to the side and angled your ear to listen closer, giving it some thought before quite easily switching direction to walk toward the sound. It would do you some good to rinse your hands and face from whatever dirt and blood was left on you, it left some nasty itch just having it stuck to your skin and you were quite eager to be rid of it.
A peaceful breeze drifted past you as you stepped through the trees, breaching through the foliage as you finally stumbled upon the lazily drifting stream. A nearly ethereal light gleamed across the rippling surface, waves of movement causing distortions in whatever reflections caught in its clear waters. You let out a breath of relief, closing your eyes for a moment as you moved to kneel at the stream's edge, rolling up your sleeves before plunging your hands in.
The water was cool, refreshing on your skin as you rubbed the drying flakes from your palms. For a moment, you could almost forget everything that was happening, drifting into a familiar routine. Every day you would fetch water from the village’s well, that familiar sloshing playing in your mind as the stream ran across your arms. Perhaps, if the day were particularly nice, you would visit the nearby river. It was a shame you had already resigned yourself to never continue that lifestyle, that you had signed away your life. If only you had your bucket…
There was a slight mumble playing at your lips before you were drawn from your thoughts, a flash of white gleaming in the sunlight and immediately catching your attention. Quickly you craned your head up, eyes wide in anticipation before your gaze landed on some white, nearly blond fox. Its eyes were so narrowed you thought it was asleep despite how it sat upright, and you stared for a long moment in surprise. You blinked, and suddenly there was movement as its tail swished behind it, those eyes peering open to reveal a kaleidoscope of color. A shining example of radiance and ethereal beauty, pale fur shining in the light as those colorful eyes demanded your attention.
Dazzling yet so empty it made you shudder, negligent to the sun which cast a warm glow over your form. Something unnerving with how picturesque it all was, and your slight awe quickly shifted into some deep seated distrust and wariness. You shied away, pulling your hands from the stream and flicking the water from your fingertips before shuffling backwards, slowly and carefully, refusing to fully take your eyes off this… thing. You knew well enough by now that nothing here was as it seemed, but this was a clear enough sign. Nothing natural had eyes like that.
The fox seemed to smile, eyes crinkling upwards lifelessly as its tail swayed, and yet it was moving too quickly to be normal, in fact you could see the ghost of it behind itself. No, you could see multiple, no… no, this damn thing just had multiple tails, unfurling behind it like a peacock spreading its feathers. Curiously, the fox eyed you, gauging your reaction as it proudly displayed the nine streaming tails which swayed like flowing tassels of silk. An expression of clear horror clawed its way to your face, and you took in a deep breath before fully standing up, turning around, and walking away with as quick of a pace as you could without flat out running.
“Not today.” You growled under your breath.
-ˋˏ ༻❁༺ ˎˊ-
For a long while you continued to march away, but the sense of that unnatural gaze practically staring you down never fully left you, and that kept your steps quick despite your growing fatigue. You had been jostled about all day and had been trekking through seemingly untouched wilderness for hours at this point, and truth be told, your biggest regret was that you had somehow lost your bag, and as such, provisions. Your rational mind said that this was, of course, a very minor issue compared to your current largest problem--the fact you were even here in the first place--but that all took a backseat now that your stomach seemed to claw and whine at you every chance it got.
Despite your hunger, you did not feel like foraging for something to eat. Sure, you probably could have, you were relatively knowledgeable in plants and fungi and the like, but this was an area unknown to you and it just didn’t seem like a good idea to shove magic mushrooms or ferns into your face. There was also the fact that the fox was most definitely following you, and of course, you knew full well it was some intelligent magical creature, and frankly you didn’t feel like embarrassing yourself in front of it. You were snapped from the haze of your thoughts as a sudden flush of heat and light danced through the air in front of you, and you quickly backtracked as a small floating orb of fire flickered steadily ahead.
You blinked away the warmth on your eyelids, staggering slightly before you heard some snicker behind you, the vulpine sound causing you to frown and shoot a glance behind you. “Not. Funny.” You emphasized with a raised finger, as if scolding the animal. You only received another hollow laugh before there was another puff of light, further from you this time. You turned your head to eye it, watching with curiosity as plumes of fire floated and danced along the wind, slowly trailing away further and further into the woods, creating a glowing pathway lit by the foxfires.
Carefully, you lifted one eyebrow, looking rather unimpressed. Was this a trap? Probably. Did you really have anything better to do? You glanced around again. Yes, you did actually. Getting out of here. You immediately stepped to veer away from the path highlighted for you, but a flash of pale fur suddenly darted to your side, nine tails fluffed up as those rainbow eyes peered up at you, blocking your step. You frowned, quickly stepping backwards and away from the fox before veering to the other side. Similarly to the last time, the fox immediately dove to block your step, tails swishing with some sort of amusement before you lifted your hands in a mock surrender.
“Okay, okay…” You mumbled, and the fox tilted its head at you, that cheshire grin still tugging at its maw and those empty eyes gazing up at you in what looked to be a pleased expression. Now, you certainly did not want to go along this pathway, but pissing off a genuine nine-tailed fox was probably a bit worse than just playing along for now, and so with a huff you conceded and began marching off in the direction of the gleaming fires which flickered along the wind. Honestly, it was quite pretty, atmospheric as the warm light fought against the shade brought about by the thick canopy of the foliage above head. A few stray beams of light dotted the forest floor, sunlight tangling with the glow of the fire in ways which only screamed magic. Prancing embers occasionally leapt from their sources, fizzling out as they soared through the air in fractals and dizzying patterns.
You couldn’t help but stare as you walked, the fox still tailing you, and it seemed to take notice of your somewhat enamored state. Its grin seemed just a bit wider, taut on its muzzle as it brushed past you, intentionally fluttering its tails against your legs like an affectionate cat. You almost stumbled from your surprise, jolting as you looked down at the fox before jauntering right on past you, trailing the path of floating fires as if strung in a line on some string. The tips of those pale tails disappeared with a flick into the forest ahead of you, and momentarily you considered leaving, but… well, your earlier thinking was still in line. You already had some pissed off dragon hunting you down, you didn’t want a kitsune added to the mix. And so you continued to meander down the path.
Given your prior mentioned--and still present--hunger, you at first thought the slight scent of roasted meat to be a cruel trick of your mind, having to restrain yourself from wetting your lips. It was a faint scent that tugged at your senses, but it faded along with a gust of wind soon enough, so you continued walking. But it just kept coming back, and now it was stronger and ever present, no longer fading from your nose, and you mildly picked up the pace. Wherever these fires were leading you smelled absolutely divine, and you wanted to get there just a bit quicker.
Spices and herbs you’d never smelt before twisted and frolicked along the breeze, and you’d be lying to yourself if you said you weren’t dying to find out what it was, the trees suddenly a blur as you sped along the gleaming path of guiding, swaying fires. Suddenly breaking through the last of the brush and into a clearing, your eyes widened at what presented itself to you. An opening to the sky carved its way through the canopy of leaves, breaking open to allow a large, flat rock to bask in the warm sun. Atop the rock was what can only be described as the most lavish feast you had ever set sights on, meats and noodles galore, with just about every variation of rice you had ever heard of.
And not just millet, what you were used to eating; no, this was genuine rice, you could smell it. Large, flat disks held rice wine, and rice cakes were settled neatly next to bowls of the pure stuff, still steaming and fragrant. The many different dishes were spread out on thin wooden frames, and you stared in awe at it before stepping forwards inquisitively. Only now did you finally notice the pale colored fox laid out languidly behind the spread of food, tails slowly swaying in the breeze as it eyed you with some dull curiosity.
You halted your steps, cautiously eyeing the fox before it smiled at you again, nodding its head towards the food. It seems it was imploring you to have some… and as fishy as it seemed, and how your consciousness told you this was probably a very bad idea… you couldn’t get that bowl of rice out of your head. Slowly you slid your gaze towards the bowl, glancing between the pale blond fox and the rice numerous times before you hesitantly stepped forwards. The fox seemed to watch you intently. You carefully sat down on the edge of the rock, sitting with the bowl to your side as you twisted to pick it up in one hand, momentarily a slight smile working its way across your face.
“Hmm… you know, I’ve been wondering… dear, could you tell me, how did a human like you end up here?” A sudden singsong voice shattered your peace as if someone had brought their fist down on a delicate vase, and you quickly scrambled to look towards the source of it, your other hand clattering against the dish of another item of food. All that met your gaze was that fox… of course it was the fox. Were you really so surprised? You sucked in a breath, shaking your head as you looked back at the bowl you held, only to glance towards the now spilled plate… that’s weird. There’s just a bunch of leaves there, you could have sworn there had been a dish of rice cakes there, not…
You suddenly frowned, realizing clicking in your mind as you snatched a pinch of rice from your bowl, lifting it to your line of sight as you watched it crumble away into nothing but the crumpled remains of a leaf. Disappointment gnawed at you almost as hard as hunger did, and you shot a glare over the rim of your bowl at the fox who still stared expectantly at you. “I’m still waiting for an answer.” He--you could now discern from the clearly masculine, yet still oddly sugared and controlled voice-- stated with some sort of detachment, voice chipper and friendly yet lacking in… a lot. It was difficult to place your finger on just one thing, but it was uncomfortable.
“... did you just try to trick me into eating a leaf?” You hummed flatly, confusion and irritation clear on your expression. The fox only laughed, that myriad of colors swirling in his eyes as he waved his tails, suddenly vanquishing the foxfires and the illusions of food, leaving nothing but windswept foliage and dishes.
“Ahh, it was never meant to be a trick, dear! I just wanted to see what you would pick, that’s all.” He chimed in response, head cocking to the side with that beguiling grin. The fox stretched for a moment, reaching out with its forelimbs before standing up with a flourish of his tails once more. “But about my question--!” He started with a chirp, only to be cut off.
“Alright… I’m going to get going now.” You curtly spoke, your irritation and hunger quickly winning out against your previous resolve. Screw it! You already have a dragon chasing you, what’s a fox, too? Who cares if you piss it off? It pissed you off! Quickly, you stood up from the rock, dusting yourself off before promptly turning tail and beginning to march away.
“Awe… you’re leaving so soon?” The fox seemed to whine, head tilting the opposite way with some kicked puppy expression. You glanced back, only to shudder at the vacant, uncaring look in those eyes. “Well okay, I’ll see you soon, human!” He suddenly snapped right back into that cheerful disposition, and you quickly turned tail and got right out of there, setting off with a determination. A sense of unease crept along your spine as you could feel the kitsune watch you leave, and the feeling only dissipated once you had walked far enough to no longer be within sight.
You breathed a sigh of relief, thankful that he didn’t seem to be following you, but now you had a new goal in mind. You were hungry, and you were tired. Though not ideal, you might not get out of here by nightfall, so perhaps you would have to set up camp somewhere..? Food was still an issue you were unsure how to deal with. You mulled over it as you walked, suddenly careless as you began to steadily tread along some lit up path, enjoying the dull warmth of the sun as you wandered aimlessly.
It was only when a sudden whoosh of wind and a cold shadow blocked the sun that you remembered why, exactly, you had been staying hidden under the trees, looking up with wide eyes. And there was something gigantic careening towards you like an arrow, claws outstretched and maw parted in a deafening roar. A serpentine body coiled and streamed behind it, long tufts of fur twirling from its spine and tail, forming a mane around its neck. Those eyes were familiar, however you didn’t wish to spend any time gawking, instead immediately screaming and diving for cover. You bolted back into the foliage, hoping desperately to avoid the dragon’s grasp, but there was a thunderous rumble as the goliath of a dragon struck the ground, limbs splaying across the path before its head snapped after you like a snake.
Fangs as long as your arms suddenly ensnared your torso, and your eyes blew wide in panic as the dragon scooped you up within its jaws, thrashing about for a moment before immediately bursting back into the sky. You screamed again, horror raking up and down your nervous system as you suddenly watched the ground become so distant, not to mention the fact you were in this thing’s mouth--oh, oh no. Was it going to EAT YOU? The question seemed to replay erratically in your mind, and you thrashed and screamed incoherently like a fish caught in a net. You punched and clawed at its muzzle before a sudden realization dawned on you. The knife, the knife! You were saved! You just needed to get it back out of your obi.
However difficult that may be. You suddenly thrashed harder, and with the slight opening in the beast's fangs, you squeezed your hand to your midsection, digging around frantically. Dull wood… nope… the sharp coldness of metal. There’s your winning ticket to not dying. Your breath was fast paced and light as wind whipped through your hair, the forest floor rapidly flying past beneath you. You didn’t have time to watch or wonder where you were going, because clearly, you were going to be lunch either before or after you got there. Tugging your hand and weapon into view, you immediately plunged the blade into the dragon’s lip, causing it to roar out in pain as its entire body recoiled.
Your eyes, wide and wild in terror and fear, locked with piercing blue irises against black scleras, and suddenly you felt some inkling of guilt at the pain and anger evident on his expression. But from that brief roar and thrash, you had now been dropped from the maw of the dragon, and you had the sudden recognition of what you had actually just done. The sky was empty below you, clouds far above and ground far below, stuck falling with no way to stop yourself. The dragon, Kaigaku, you remembered that’s what his name was, seemed to dive to try and catch up to you, but you crashed right through the treetops before a single claw could reach you, the loud crashing of leaves and sticks pummeling your senses as, strangely, not a single one actually touched you. Your eyes were squeezed shut in anticipation of an impact, but you felt yourself… oddly enough, bounce along the ground, slowly losing momentum as you crash along the forest floor.
For a long, heavy moment, you remained still on the ground, sprawled out with the most painful headache you had ever felt, as well as a hunger unknown to you ceaselessly tearing at your stomach. Since when have you ever been this hungry? Does mortal terror work up an appetite? You didn’t have the time to contemplate it, hissing with a groan as you forced yourself to sit up, trembling slightly from adrenaline and aches.
“How… am I alive…” You murmured breathlessly to yourself, hair falling in front of your face as you hung your head, staring blankly at the ground in front of you. Quickly you squeezed your eyes shut again, now without any care for getting yourself dirty on accident, you ran your hands up and through your hair before simply cradling the sides of your head. “Why did I even do that… that was so, so, so stupid…” You whispered hoarsely. You didn’t typically act as reckless as this, you weren’t the type to leap first, think later. An added layer of horror at this situation was with what ease you had forgotten your rational thought in a moment of fear.
And for what? Sure, it had worked out ‘fine’ this time, but you didn’t know it would have. You hardly knew what was going on, you didn’t know the rules of why you weren’t getting hurt and you certainly didn’t know enough to ever go leaping out of a flying dragon’s mouth. You were still lost, hungry, and unsafe. Not a single problem of yours had been resolved, and since you had now injured Kaigaku, you wouldn’t be surprised if he really did want to eat you now… if he hadn’t already. You still were a bit flighty.
Slowly you calmed your breathing, calming your trembling just enough so that you could stand on shaky legs. From there, you continued to walk. For now, you knew that you needed to be more cautious, more thoughtful. You had left your village for a reason, and you cannot afford to throw your life away. They cannot afford for you to die here. You had already signed up for your own funeral, and these damned Yokai aren’t going to get in the way of you doing what you must to protect your family. There was a sudden reignition of determination in you, eyes unfocused yet alert as you paced through the woods. You will be getting home, and, unfortunately, you will be delivering your own life to the hands of those bandits.
-ˋˏ ༻❁༺ ˎˊ-
Kaigaku swept across the sky like a streaming banner of blue and blank, a cut carving along his lip which stung as a symbol of his explicit failure. How exactly does one let a human escape them twice, might you ask? Well apparently, he could write a whole book about it. He could still remember that damned freefall he had followed that suicidal human on, how his talons had just barely missed snatching his target straight from the sky, instead watching that human plummet straight through the trees. Diving in after all of that would have just been risking his own hide.
He had made a swift reroute, skirting along the tops of the trees, but he hadn’t seen where the thing had gone… or if the human had died somehow. He couldn’t help but wince slightly at the idea. That human girl was interesting, sure. No one had ever actually thanked him before, and not many had the balls to actually strike someone as magnificent as he was, despite this also being equally infuriating… but frankly, he was more concerned with the fact he would, most definitely, never live this down if that pipsqueak had gone and died before he could even deliver the human to the Kizuki for a proper decision to be made. He growled under his breath, shuddering as he continued to patrol the skies.
Fucked. He was so fucked if he didn’t find that human soon. He just knew it.
authors note, the kizuki met so far have been kaigaku (dragon), hairo (okami/wolf shapeshifter(if you dont know hairo, he's the lower moon rengoku fought and hes GOATED!!)), and douma (kitsune...)

Demon Bride Ch11 Interluding
(WARNINGS AND DISCLAIMERS!!! EVERYONE in this story is in their early 20s-30s! This story will contain mentions of past abuse and death! I'll be keeping it as SFW. Some backstories have been slightly altered for this particular story, and some characters cannonically dead or harmed is alive and well. I own nothing.
Credit to @flanelltees for the designs I based the demons off to look more demon-like with tails and pointed ears.
This story will be sfw, but there will be some blood, implied death, fighting, some gore mentioned, and a few other things that will be made aware by warnings. Pay attention to warnings at the top of any chapters just under the summery please.)
Tumblr media
Once in the mountain villages it was a custom that once a year on the night of the new year's first moon, an unlucky young lady would be selected and left for the demons to become one of the unlucky few who married such a husband. In exchange for this offering the demons would protect the villages and leave the humans in peace. Until one day a powerful warrior drove the demons away freeing the humans of them. Now 2,000 years later, it's become a tradition that once a year, a new young lady would be picked and wait for her future husband to retrieve her from a shrine in the mountains. And now the lucky tradition would fall upon Y/n L/n. It would be her own turn to take on the tradition and not have to worry about demons. After all that part of the old tradition was just fake, made up by paranoid ancestors. Everyone knew demons didn't exist.
...Right?

(UPDATE And WARNINGS: For this fic demons can walk in sunlight, although some are nocturnal, and some are actually very sensitive to sunlight, tho not enough to where it'll k.o. them....Except for one demon. Let's see if anyone can guess who that particular demon is. Mentioning of death in this chapter.)
The lonely home sitting in the middle of poverty was woefully empty. Painfully even as the years had passed down. It hadn't been lived in since the fateful day it was built by painful hands by the first builder whom passed away shortly after. Leaving it woefully empty and looming in the town until the fateful hands of one man.
One man whom shall meet a dire and grim fate.
The man was one many would rather not bother. Angry. Kept to himself. And very much not one to be bothered. Many in the village said he was cursed. Others say he was just born with anger. Others just simply thought he'd rather be left alone. Until one day the man met a young woman from the village and fell deeply in love with her. A piece of him he needed and married when she accepted. The man's life turned to one of anger to happiness...
To eventual sorrow.
The man's wife fell ill one day expecting their first born child. No money in this poverty would be enough to get them through this. So the angry man turned from one of anger to one of desperation. And a desperate man was a dangerous man. And a dangerous man would do dangerous things for the ones he loved. The man robbed for his family. Killed for his family. For a medicine they would not need.
In the end the man was put to death for his crimes. Leaving his wife and child behind.
The man's child would grow to follow in his father's sorrowful footsteps. Living in that empty home with the sorrowful mother, until he found his own piece of his missing heart with his own wife, and soon after they too expected their own child. But not everything was as bright as they would like it to be. When his wife fell ill not soon after their child was born. A powerful illness that no cheap medicine would fix. But the son was smarter than his own father. Bargaining with a richer family for money for medicine with the promise to pay them back one day.
Unfortunately misfortune would still follow. Even with the stronger medicines paid for, the wife would give in to her illness, leaving the world behind. Her husband followed her into the afterlife soon after gaining the sickness his wife gained. Leaving the world behind along with their child with the sorrowful mother. Nothing left but pain and misfortune in that lonely house in poverty, raising her grandchild to the best of her old ways. A looming debt demanding to be paid back one way or another less fate drag them down the same unfortunate hole the rest of the family followed.
In turn warnings were giving from on generation to one other. To not seek the same things the previous generations had done.
"Remember, Y/n. You mustn't ever allow yourself to worry about anyone else until you're stable in life. Do not marry. Do not worry about anyone else including myself. Do not worry about anyone else until you are in a place stable enough to do so. Do I make myself clear?"
" But Grandmother, I already take care of you."
"That's because I am old and brittle, but I don't want you to. I'm not in death's grasp yet. You must work hard to pay back what you must fix before you let yourself worry about anyone else. And you must pay it back in a honest and fair way. Do not attempt to cheat your way out, and don't do anything dishonorable to fix it either! It will only bring misfortune and back luck to you as it did your parents."
"And Grandfather?"
"DO NOT MENTION HIM!! DO NOT EVEN SPEAK HIS NAME!! HE STARTED ALL THIS MISFORTUNE IN OUR LIVES AND IT WILL END WITH YOU!! I SHALL NOT HAVE HIM OR HIS NAME AROUND ANYMORE!! HIS FAMILY NAME WILL BE FORGOTTEN AND NEVER SPOKEN AGAIN!!"
"Grandmother...I do not even know our family name. How will I know how to not say it if I don't even know what our family name is?"
"Hmph. It's better that you never know it and have it die with me. ....But just so you know to avoid it in the future, I will tell you it once. Just once. Only this one time. Just so you can avoid it in the future in case someone comes looking for you. But only if you promise to never use that disgraceful name!"
"I promise, Grandmother."
"Alright then. Are family's name is...Or should I say was-"
Ta....ma.....yo-
"Wake up! Miss Y/n, wake up!'' You were jostled awake by a pair of hands shaking you awake and was met with the slightly annoyed face of Eri who frowned at you.
"W-What-" You blinked a bit dazed up at the she-demon who rolled her eyes. "W-What happened? *yawn*"
"I'm finished looking over my lords, so I was sent by Lord Kyogai to assist you again but when I arrived you were fast asleep." A third hand pointed to the bucket of water your leg still sat in. "The water's gone warm, so I'll have to fetch more cold water. Please lift your leg so I can get rid of this."
"Huh?..O-Oh. S-Sorry. I must've fallen asleep waiting for someone to come back.*yyyawwwnn* H-How is everyone?"
"Lord Kaigaku is completely fine. Not a single bruise. And Lord Kyogai will be completely healed by the end of today, so you should not worry about either of them, Mistress." You didn't respond at first just tiredly staring at nothing in particular, making her raise a brow at you. "Miss Y/n? Are you alright?"
"Huh? Oh. Sorry again. Y-Yes. I'm alright. Just had a strange dream."
"What was it about?"
"Just-....an old memory of my grandmother when I was younger."...You shook your head before looking back to her. "But it was just a dream. I'll be fine. Where's Kyogai?"
Taking it as you were too tired right now, Eri went ahead and used two of her hands to carefully lift your numb leg, wincing a bit at the faint pain throbbing from under it. "Oh. Well it sounds like a nice dream then. Sometimes I dream of the times I've spent with my fiancé. Lord Kyogai is overseeing Lord Kaigaku's stay with us at the moment. It'd be best to not bother him at this time however. He seems very irritated at the sudden arrival of Lower Moon Two."
"Oh. I take it that they don't get along well?"
"On the contrary! Lords Kaigaku and Kyogai get along better than most of the other Lords do with each other. Mostly because Lord Kaigaku's often in this area. It's because of that, Lord Kyogai was generous enough to allow him shelter here as well. He is the second most often lord we see around here."
" Oh...So they're not related to each other?"
Eri blinked, bucket in her hands. "I- ..No. Not that I know of. Why do you assume that?"
"Well they have similar features. Like their hair and eyes. And they both have those strange stripe markings on their faces."
She shook her head. "They may share some similarities, but I assure you they're indeed not family. Otherwise Lord Kyogai would've treated him with more kindness." She then turned to the door. "It's getting late in the day. So I'll bring you some dinner before you sleep. You'll be needing the nourishment for your recovery."
"Thanks, Eri." Oh. So that's why you must've been so tired and fell asleep just now. "I mean it. You're very kind to me."
She smiled. "Well you've been a good patient. Can't say I can complain. I'll be back soon. Please wait here one moment."
***************************************************************************************
There was a warmth as steam rose from the pool of lukewarm water. The rich scent of bath salts and flowers floated around his body calming the nerves and relaxing the muscles, although it did not detour his bitterness at the situation he found himself in.
"Stupid humans."
The tiles of the bath room were cooler than the water, almost cold as he sat upon them out and away from the fifthteen foot pool of water. It was a contrast to the wooden walls around the room, painted trees and other nature scenery. heh. Kyogai always was weak for the arts including paintings he guessed. He wouldn't complain about how he wanted to decorate his home, but he did think it was highly unneeded, especially just for a bath. For now he'd allow himself to relax (somewhat-) and rethink over the situation at hand.
He had found the human. That's Good. The human was hurt. That's Bad. The human wouldn't be able to escape him again. That's good. The human was still in here where she didn't belong. That was bad. But he could still right the wrong. That's good.
But now the only question was how he was going to do that. He would already be in trouble regardless. He knew that Kyogai was a perfectionist which was both his strength and downfall. No doubt he would've probably already told one of the higher ups about his mess up, and depending on who it was, his punishment would vary. He wasn't afraid of course because even if Kyogai told one of the Upper Moons, only two out of the six of them would actually give him a harsh punishment and everyone knew it.
Gyutaro and Daki could careless, same with Upper Moons Five, Four, and Two. No. It was Upper Moons Three and One that he was worried about. If it was Akaza, then he could expect a long lecture and forced manual labor until he couldn't feel his fingers anymore, and Akaza would stand right there behind him making sure he did it, and if he didn't, then Akaza would kick his legs from under him and make him do it all over again. He hated Akaza for that. If it was Kokushibo-...A shiver went down his spine. His sensai wouldn't allow him to rest until he thought he worked hard enough and would put him under the most intense training of his life. Kokushibo wasn't known for his kindness if he messed up during forced training. Last time it happened, he could barely feel any of his limbs and slept almost a week straight. And if it was the Master-
Kaigaku stopped. Looking long distantly horrified off at nothing before shivering harder and shaking his head.
He'd rather not think about that right now. He doubted the Master would know, otherwise he would've been punished immediately. The Master doesn't take these things lightly at all. But he could lighten whatever punishment he would get if he fixed it. He'd been thinking on how exactly he'd go about doing that as well. In his mind he had one of two options. The first one was to simply just dump her where she came from. Right outside the Eastern tree line. She can go right back to wherever she came from and he'd be done with her. It'd be the simplest solution really considering she couldn't fight back, but that had a problem with that first plan. Like it or not, she really was unable to walk according to the earful he got from Kyogai's healer scolding him (lightly) for picking up the human when she was obviously hurt and still healing from her dreadful encounter. So if she was kicked back out, she couldn't walk and would most likely get hurt worse or possibly die. He'd be in bigger trouble if he caused a death and news got out, especially to other humans. It'd drive away fresh blood from their lands if humans were afraid they'd be killed. Then how would they get their supply if the humans were too scared to even come near the Master's lands? Even with Douma's wide spread charm bringing them in, it'd be incredibly difficult if they were driven away by fear. So this incident shouldn't get out of hand anymore than it already was. So now he had two options. Either he waited for whoever this 'doctor' Kyogai summoned to heal her and she actually healed to kick her out AND have the possibility of her detouring others from coming by telling them her story...Or...
Or there was the obvious choice.
Douma could easily take her off his hands. Yes. It was a mighty fine solution if he did say so himself. Douma adored surrounding himself in humans. He saw them the same way a human saw a puppy, as pets to entertain himself with. He would be happy to take the human on his hands and add her to his cult. It wasn't the worst option for the human. There was food, water, shelter, and plenty of chores to do to keep her entertained. And Douma would charm her eventually sooner or later. He did that with every human who took refuge in one of the many settlements he runs. He was ....scarily good at running them and taking care of humans. He hated to admit it, but Upper Moon Two was good at what he did. It was why his jobs were so important and why the Master gave him that comfy position despite the fact that he also hated Douma's presence. It wasn't exactly a well known secret at this point that the Master thought of Douma. And he himself disliked Douma as much as the next person, but-...
The human couldn't be let free. Too much was at stake for him. He already realized that by now. The safest bet for everyone would be to deliver her to Douma as soon as she was ready to travel despite what Kyogai thought. He never was a very patient person however, so it would be a challenge. But in the meantime he would worry about doing his job to avoid anymore trouble. At the moment he was busying himself cleaning off his sword. It would need to be cleaned of all that blood and grime from the last two days and then carefully polished to keep it in pristine condition. The cloth he used was gently but firmly glided along the blade showing his reflection as he frowned at it.
"Disgusting pigs."
BUM! BUM! BUM!
He paused. But not because of the sounds of the drums that echoed through the halls, but because of the sudden looming presence behind him, and the reflection of the other demon in his sword's blade. He gave one look to the red and blue eyes narrowed back in the reflection before continuing to clean the long blade without a care in the world.
"Took you long enough. I was starting to wonder when we were going to talk."
"I had some work that needed to be finished. You're sorry ass could wait." Kyogai scoffed behind him and crossed his arms. "And you have the audacity to walk in here without a notice again. I think I was being more than generous for not kicking you out once I caught wind of you! You should be out doing your job instead of stalking a helpless woman! In fact, you shouldn't have let her come in here to begin with! If you had just scared her out none of this would have happened in the first place!"
"You don't think I know that by now!", Kaigaku spat shooting him back an equally dirty look. "I've already heard that twice from you! And I plan on fixing it once she's able to travel! And what are you talking to me about audacity!? I could've been in nude and you barged on in on me!"
"It's MY house. I can go where I please! For your information, you don't need to be bothered with her anymore. I'm going to be taking her off your hands and making sure nothing else goes wrong. So as soon as you recover, get out of my house and do your dam job!!"
"She's mine anyways you know!! She gave me her dow-"
"IT WASN'T A DOWRY!!," he taller demon yelled at him, leaning over to point a hand at his face, "Didn't you hear her explain that!? She came in here by accident and she thought you wanted to be repaid! That's NOT a dowry because she wasn't even sent here as a sacrifice! So stop trying to claim something that's not!"
He scoffed. "And I suppose you know the laws around that?"
"I'm. The. Record Keeper!! I write all the laws as well as all the records and important files the Master sends me! Do you really think I don't know the laws that I wrote down myself!?" Kaigaku shut up and Kyogai hummed with a nod. "That's what I thought, and this is also why I'm taking over care for her."
"AND YOU THINK I CAN'T HANDLE A HUMAN!?"
"Considering that under your 'care', she was both chased down and harmed? YES! And you can't deny she's safer here than if she was traveling with you."
"And what's your plan on taking care of her I wonder?"
"I'm going to stay here until she recovers, and until mating season is over. I'll escort her personally to the edge of the forest. She should be safe after that."
"That sounds like a stupid plan! What if she tells others of what happened!?"
"Where she comes from humans don't even believe we actually exist." That caught Kaigaku by surprise because he blinked. "It would seem humans on the eastern side of the mountain haven't heard from us in so long that they stopped believing in our existence all together. ...Hmm. I should inform my findings to the Master. It would be good to inform him of this."
"Oh yes. And how are you supposed to explain to him how you know that when no one's allowed on that side of the mountain!? You couldn't tell him without getting in trouble for revealing you were harboring a human from that sound of the mountain in your home."
At this Kyogai stared directly at him. "The Master has already been informed of her."
Silence.
He was expecting that of Kaigaku. Because instantly the younger demon's face dropped to a blank stare as he just stared at Kyogai who now smiled lightly. The silence was so thick he could cut it with a knife until he spoke again.
"...You didn't dare-"
"I did."
"When?''
"Two days ago. I needed the Master's permission for Enmu to come here-''
"ENMU!?" AAAAAnndd that horrified look was back. "THE PERVERT WHO STREAKED NUDE ON THE TRAIN ONCE!?"
Kyogai cringed instantly but nodded. "Yes. I do not like it anymore than you or anyone else involved, but he is the only one I know who actually knows human medical treatments. He's agreed to come here and look her over. The Master's already given his permission."
That horrified look never left Kaigaku as he continued to stare at him. Totally. Petrified. Horrified. Chilled to the bone.
"...W-When-"
"He'll be arriving five days from today. Until then I'm having Eri look after her and keeping Miss Y/n safe in here."
"...Y/n?"
"That's her name. Maybe you should use it. It'd be rude to call her 'Human' while she stays with us."
.....His eyes glazed over in terror for a moment. "...I'm so dead."
"Not really. I never told them it was your fault she was here. Only that a lost human ended up hurt on my doorsteps. So you shouldn't be in any harm's way....But consider this going forward, Kaigaku." Kaigaku's flinched and his eyes widened as Kyogai leaned over until their faces were inches apart. A hardened snarl on his features. "If you do anything to jeapordize the safety of anyone here including Y/n because of your stubborn pride, then I will not hesitate to tell the Master exactly why she was harmed in the first place. So I suggest you think about what you do next very carefully. Do I make myself clear to you?"
Kaigaku. Gulped.
"Good boy."

Gyomei x Abused Cat Hybrid Reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was the day before Gyomei Himejima’s birthday. Tengen, Kyojuro, Kanae, Sanemi, Iguro, Kyogai, Tomioka, Goto and Haganezuka, Gyomei’s coworkers, were coming up with a plan to celebrate his birthday. Tengen already agreed to have the party at his house and that his wives would cook. Kyogai was in charge of music, Haganezuka would help out in the kitchen, Tomioka would keep Gyomei busy and bring him to Tengen’s house and Goto would get the cake.
The big issue was what to get the blind, cat loving teacher. As they were discussing and arguing over what to get him, Kyojuro got an idea. “I know! Let’s get Himejima a cat Hybrid!” Kyojuro shouted. “Do you even know where to get one, they’re pretty rare” Iguro asked. “I do, although it’s mostly just animals, I know that they also house hybrids that need homes” Tomioka informed. “I’ll give you guys the address to the facility” he said as he wrote down the name and address before handing it to Kanae.
“Splendid, let’s go.” Kanae cheered as she and the others left to go to the facility. When they got to the facility, they entered and asked the worker lady if they had any cat hybrids. The lady led them towards the back where they house the hybrids. “We do, although we don’t have very many, may I ask which of you is looking for one?” She asked. “The hybrid is for our friend, we’re surprising him with one for his birthday” Tengen informed.
The lady proceeded to lead them to you. You were a Ragdoll/Munchkin cat hybrid. You had been abused by your original owner and rescued, now you sit here waiting down the days til your put down. You have a history of attacking people who have tried to adopt you, you have two strikes already on your record, two more and you’ll be humanely euthanized. You’re rather untrusting of people especially males, and you tend to stay in your cat form.
“I’m afraid we only have the one, although they are rather skittish and unfriendly, they were rescued from their abusive owner so they’re rather violent” They peered inside at you, seeing your fluffy fur and slightly stubby legs, you were adorable and Gyomei was absolutely going to love you. “They’re absolutely perfect, don’t you guys think so, Gyomei will absolutely love them.” Kanae said. The others agreed. “We’ll take ‘em” Tengen said as he left with the lady to sign the papers in Gyomei’s name.
Sanemi entered the small kennel and grabbed you gently by the scruff and put you in a cat carrier all too quickly. You couldn’t even put up a fight. You hissed at him and puffed up your fur as you tried to make yourself as small as possible. As they left, Kanae left to get you some human clothes, while Kyojuro and Iguro left to get you a few other necessities.
Later, at Tengen’s house, the party began and Tomioka texted that he and Gyomei were on their way there. When Gyomei entered the house, they all surprised him and the party began. After eating and drinking and having cake, it was time for presents. They had gotten him cat themed stuff like cat erasers, cat shaped sticky notes, a coffee mug with cats on it, etc. after opening up the other gifts, Tengen came out of his bedroom with the cat carrier you were in.
When Tengen put the cat carrier in Gyomei’s lap you hissed at Tengen, surprising Gyomei. “What is this, is this what I think it is?” Gyomei asked. The others then spilled and told Gyomei about you and your past as well as your two strikes, hearing that you were abused, he cried and promised you that he would never hurt you. Kanae came over and gave Gyomei the stuff for you in a bag. “This bag contains stuff for y/n, that’s their name. It has clothes, toiletries and other necessities.” Kanae explained. With tears in his eyes Gyomei profusely thanked his colleagues.
Sensing your discomfort, Gyomei explained that he wanted to leave, to which his colleagues understood. Gyomei gathered all of the stuff and once again profusely thanked everyone before carefully picking up the cat carrier and heading out the door. As he walked home, he began to talk to you. “Y/n, I’m terribly sorry for how you have previously suffered and I promise that you have absolutely nothing to fear from me. I simply want for us to be able to live comfortably amongst each other. I promise I will never hurt you and I hope that I can provide a better life for you” Gyomei stated as he continued his walk.
Once he got home he unlocked his door and took off his shoes before walking into the living room and setting down your carrier by the couch. He then opened the door and set the bag of stuff for you down on the couch. “I’m sorry but I’m afraid I wasn’t expecting for you to come home with me so you’ll have to sleep on the couch for tonight but tomorrow I’ll help you get settled in and get you a proper bed. I’m going to leave some food out for you, feel free to help yourself. I have work tomorrow so I’ll be heading to bed here very soon” Gyomei told you as he walked into his kitchen and began putting some leftovers together for you and heating them up.
After heating up your food and leaving it out for you, Gyomei left the kitchen and entered his bedroom for the night and bid you goodnight. After an hour, you slowly exit the cat carrier and transformed into your human form. You ate the food that Gyomei left out for you and you put some clothes on that were in the bag. Since you see perfectly in the dark, you explored your new home and wondered how a blind man can get around so easily. After a bit of exploring, you pulled a blanket out of the bag and walked over to a corner before making a little nest and curling up then falling asleep. The next morning when Gyomei woke up he got ready to teach and made you both breakfast and lunch.
“I’ve made breakfast for you as well as lunch, I’ll put them in the fridge for you. If you’re hungry between them feel free to eat whatever you find. I have to go to work now, I work at a school so I won’t be home until 6 o’clock. Feel free to unpack the bag of stuff for you, tonight when I get home we can either go out and buy or order what else you need online. Goodbye” Gyomei informed you as he got ready and left for work. After he left you got up and ate breakfast before going through the bag of stuff for you. You found a couple outfits, some underwear, toiletries like a toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo and conditioner as well as a brush for your fur. In the bag was also a collar and leash as well as a few cat toys.
After getting everything out, you decided to take a shower and get yourself all cleaned up while you had the chance. You didn’t expect to stay here for very long so you didn’t really bother with putting anything away but you made sure not to move anything around in case Gyomei wouldn’t be able to find it. After your shower you dried off using his towel, slowly inhaling the scent of the man. He smelled really good and you hated to admit it even to yourself.
As time passed you ate your lunch and took a nap until Gyomei got home. He took his shoes off and greeted you. “Good evening y/n, I hope you weren’t too lonely while I was gone. I ordered a cat tree with a scratching post and it should be here in a few days. I hope you enjoy it.” He smiled as he informed you. He walked into the kitchen and began making dinner for the both of you, you waited until he went to bed to eat and thus this became your habit.
Days like this pass as you have very few interactions with Gyomei. To your surprise, Gyomei has yet to get upset with you or force you to interact with him. When he realized that you had yet to put anything away from the bag, he cried. You found out that he cries very easily. Despite his huge frame, the man is actually very gentle and kind. When the cat tree came, he struggled with putting it together, you eventually sat beside him and helped him put it together. You figured it was the least you could do. Despite you being right next to him, Gyomei made no attempts to pet you, which you appreciated.
One night, after Gyomei went to bed, you waited and slowly crept into his room and jumped onto his bed in your cat form. You carefully approached the sleeping man and sniffed him before climbing onto his chest and nuzzling into him. After a lot of time spent near the man, you slowly became comfortable with being around him. Deciding to cuddle up to the man, you purred as you curled up to his chest and fell asleep, unaware that Gyomei was awake the entire time. In the morning, you get up before Gyomei and leave his room and get comfortable in your cat tree.
That day, when Gyomei got home early from work, he sat on the couch and relaxed. Sensing how tired he was, you slowly approached him in your cat form and jumped onto the couch, before walking up to him and rubbing yourself against his arm. You meow at him and crawl onto his lap and begin kneading the fabric of his shirt with your paws, careful not to ruin it. With tears in his eyes Gyomei smiles at you as he slowly reaches up to pet you between the ears. You purr and lean into his pets as he smiles and chuckles. “Such a sweet little kitten, thank you y/n” you licked his tears away as he cried. You then transformed into your human form and stretched out as you snuggled into the large man. You and Gyomei cuddled together that night and thus began the relationship between you and Gyomei.

Can you do Shinjuro and Reader trick or treating? Just the image of Shinjuro in a costume is funny. You can pick the costumes.
Trick or Treating with Shinjuro.
Senjuro fell sick back home but insisted that you two should go Trick or Treating for him! You picked out the perfect costume for him: a cat!
Pairing: Shinjuro x gn!reader
Tumblr media
He didn’t agree to this, being dressed up as a cat. Or at least you told him he’s supposed to be a cat, but after you assaulted the red strands of hair on top of his head with deathly amount of hairspray, those poor hairs are now shaped into cat ears. You said they looked adorable, Shinjuro thinks it will take hours to take it all out again. Besides, he looks ridiculous. But as long as it keeps you happy… once you got the flimsy DIY cat-tail out that was once a pillow case, he was done. Nope, no, nope, never. You are not attaching that to his pants, over his dead body. And put away that god damn make up, he doesn’t need whiskers and a painted on nose!!
It wasn’t so bad after going outside. Shinjuro didn’t feel as humiliated and embarrassed of himself after seeing the stupid looking costumes of kids and adults alike— he remembers how Senjuro and Kyojuro once dressed up as each ghosts, stealing Ruka’s sheets and poking holes through them. They scared the living shit out of him after hiding behind a corner and jumping out in front of him. Shinjuro let you go up front while walking up to houses, you’re much nicer looking and will probably score more candy than the neighbourhood drunk cosplaying an innocent kitty.
At the end of the night, you two dumped your full buckets of candy in front of Senjuro, who excitedly picked out Kyojuro’s and his favourites. He wanted to give his big brother lots of candy after he returns from his mission, perhaps they could share a pile while they talk! While the boy talked and inspected some chocolates, Shinjuro sneakily snatched some of his own favourite candy himself, stuffing them into the sleeves of his yukata. He deserves a little reward for letting himself be used as a dress up doll.

The only thing is that you have the worst luck when it comes to finding love and Haganezuka is starting to get enough about it. Things happen and you finally end up together. Now it should be smooth sailing from here on forth, right? A lighthearted story about you and Haganezuka banging here and there and other sweet stuff like that.
Warnings: Cursing, Drinking, Smoking, Vomit
A/N: Modern!AU, Female Reader, Teacher Reader, Teacher Haganezuka, From Friends To Lovers, Tengen Uzui, Kyojuro Rengoku, Goto, Gyomei Himejima, Kanae Kocho, Sanemi Shinazugawa, Kyogai
PART 1 - PART 2 - PART 3 - PART 4 - PART 5 - PART 6 - PART 7
It was Friday and the students were already on their way home to spend their weekend away from school. That left teachers to fill in last-minute reports and grade essays, projects, and exams. The teachers were mostly minding their own business when you suddenly slammed the door to the teacher's office open and then shut behind you.
"I AM PISSED!" You exclaimed out loud and your colleagues turned to look at you as you frowned, "Who is going out drinking with me today?!"
The teachers glanced at each other and hands rose one by one. You huffed and nodded, "Great! I'm gonna-!" You were about to say when suddenly the office door slid open and a student peeked inside, "Miss, I need your signature on my paper…"
"Ah-!" You put on a kind smile and nodded as you followed the student out of the office, "Of course, lead the way."
As you left to aid the student, the teachers shared glances with each other.
"What was that about?" Goto asked and many sighed.
"I guess she got dumped again." Tengen thought out loud and Gyomei frowned sadly, "Again?"
"Wasn't she just recently seeing someone?" Kyogai asked and Sanemi nodded, "Yeah. Looks like this one didn't work out for her either."
"She has been this way ever since elementary school." Haganezuka grunted, "She would always chase after boys or girls she liked and then end up heartbroken when they wouldn't return her feelings. Same thing in college."
"Oh right, you guys are childhood friends, right?" Kanae asked and the masked teacher scoffed, "She's a pain in the ass, that's what she is."
"Yeah, you've known her the longest!" Tengen laughed, "Maybe the two of you should date-!"
The art teacher didn't get to finish his sentence when the office's door slid open and you entered the room. To your colleagues' confusion, instead of complaining or shouting, you burrowed yourself into paperwork.
"Are you alright, young lady?" Kyojuro asked and you growled, never taking your eyes off the papers before you, "Yeah, just gotta get these done and I can clock myself out and then go and try to forget this douchebag ex…!"
The teachers glanced at each other but then focused on their own work. The only one who kept looking at you was Haganezuka, but even he focused back on his work before anyone could notice.
Later that night you and your colleagues had gathered in your favorite restaurant slash bar to enjoy good food and drinks. The night was going well, despite it being your way to take out some steam.
"I hate that bastard!" You exclaimed as you chugged your drink, "I gave him two months of my life and he goes and starts seeing his coworker!?"
"Again?" Tengen asked, "What happened to that woman you were seeing just a while ago?"
"Oh, don't get me started!" You shouted, but it was too late, "She said I was nice, but she wasn't looking for something long-term! Apparently, I was just her rebound after she had a nasty breakup!"
"Sounds like you have poor luck when it comes to men or women." Obanai grumbled and you nodded, the alcohol making your mood whimsical and sad all of a sudden, "What am I doing wrong? I'm nice, I have a good job and I'm pretty!"
You pouted as you looked at your colleagues sadly, "I am pretty, right?"
"You're very beautiful." Kanae nodded with a small smile, "But you know, you don't need to be dating someone all the time? You can be single for a moment if you want?"
"You don't get it Kanae… I'm already 36, and I'm not getting any younger!" You cried out, "It's time for me to find love, settle down, maybe pop out a kid or two, and just…"
"Just?"
"I don't know…" You murmured sadly as you drank the rest of your drink in one go and then got up, "I'm going out for a second. I need to get some fresh air."
Your colleagues nodded and didn't pay any mind to you as you got up and stepped outside for a moment. It was already dark, but you didn't mind it. You dug out a cigarette pack from your jacket's pocket, grabbed one, and placed it between your lips before lighting it. You knew that cigarettes were a horrible habit, but you had to blow off some steam or in this case smoke.
"Why the fuck am I this way?" You grumbled quietly by yourself as you blew out some smoke.
"Because you are an idiot, that's why." Came a familiar voice and you turned and saw a familiar Hyottoko mask looking in your direction.
"Haganezuka?" You frowned as your childhood friend settled next to you, content to just watch you smoke. You frowned, "What are you doing here?"
"You always smoke after a breakup." He replied, ignoring your question. You grunted and took a drag of your smoke, "It's a bad habit of mine. Always has been."
"Oh yeah? I remember that you started to smoke to impress a guy." Haganezuka reminded you and you frowned as you remembered that crush who didn't even know you existed. You still remember how you had left him a love letter, but another girl had taken credit for it. Those two were probably married and had kids by now.
"Don't remind me…" You crumbled, suddenly getting a bad taste in your mouth and it wasn't just the cancer stick. You decided that you didn't want it anymore. You groaned as you dropped the cigarette and stepped on it with your shoe.
"Fuck it, I'm-" You were saying when you suddenly felt your balance shift and you almost tripped on your own feet. You would have hit the ground if it wasn't for Haganezuka quickly catching you.
"Alright, I think you've had enough!" The man snapped and you groaned as you felt alcohol really hit you. Talk about a sneak attack.
"I'm taking you home." Haganezuka said and you groaned as you tried to stand up on your own, "Just give me a second, I gotta go and pay my tab and-!"
"It's already taken care of." The man said and you looked at him in awe, "You paid my bill?"
"You better pay me back." He grunted and you rolled your eyes, "I will, I will."
The two of you left and as you were walking, you found yourself leaning against Haganezuka's side, enjoying his body's warmth and how stable he felt.
"You're a good friend, you know that?" You thought out loud as you looked at your friend who just grunted. You hummed as you smiled, "You always have been. Even when we were kids, you would always look after me."
"That's because you were a huge crybaby."
"Still… You always took me into your games and such."
"Because you would cry if I didn't include you."
"Ah, memories," You chuckled, "Where did I go wrong?"
"I don't know and I don't care."
"So cruel…!" You whined, and Haganezuka groaned, his patience wearing thin, "Fine! You want to know what's wrong? You fall in love far too easily and with assholes and idiots out of all people!"
"Mean..!" You pouted, "When did my dating become your business?"
"It becomes my business when you always end up with a broken heart!" The man snapped and you were tempted to snap right back at him but you looked as saw that you were already by your apartment building. Haganezuka took you to the front door and you told him the code that the door needed to open.
Once inside, the two of you took an elevator to your floor and walked to your front door. You dug out your keys from your pocket and inserted them into the lock and with a click, your front door opened.
"Thank you for taking me- Whoa, what are you-?" You were interrupted as Haganezuka followed you inside your apartment.
"I need to use the toilet." He grunted as he took his shoes off and you sighed, "First door on the right, you know it."
The man nodded as he went to use your toilet slash bathroom and you made your way to your small kitchen. You glanced at the clock on the wall and noted that it wasn't as late as you had thought. You peeked at your fridge and you were pleased to see a half bottle of vodka and many bottles of Cola.
You heard the toilet being flushed and you peeked to see Haganezuka step out of your toilet.
"Hey, if you don't have anything better to do then would you like to stay and help me finish this bottle?" You asked as you showed your vodka bottle to your friend.
"Why the fuck do you have a bottle of vodka in your fridge?" He asked, and you pouted, "Are you gonna drink it with me or shall I finish it myself?"
"…Fine!" Haganezuka grunted as he walked to your living room and you joined him on your couch with two glasses, a bottle of Cola, and vodka. You poured your glasses full and handed him his vodka-Cola.
"Bottoms up!" You clinked your glass against his and took a long sip of your drink. Haganezuka groaned as he took off his mask and placed it on your coffee table before taking a sip himself.
You immediately looked at him and smiled at the sight of the handsome face he hid behind that funny mask of his. "You're really handsome, you knew that?"
"I don't care." He grunted and you chuckled, "Shame. You would make someone really happy."
Your friend grunted something under his breath and you took your chance to take a sip of your drink.
"I want to ask you something." Haganezuka looked at you with those pretty orange eyes of his, "And I want you to be honest with me. No bullshit or such!"
You hummed thoughtfully, wondering what he wanted to ask, before nodding, "What do you want to know?"
"Why did you never chase after me?"
You blinked, taken aback by his question. It was not a question you expected him out of all people ask.
"You are my friend-!"
"I said no bullshit," He snapped and you frowned, "I didn't-!"
"Tell me the truth or I'll squeeze it out of you!"
"But I… Fine!" You pouted stubbornly as you averted your gaze from him, "Because you were my only friend and I didn't want to chase you away like I chased everyone else I liked…"
You blushed as you realized just how pathetic you sounded… And you blushed even worse when you realized that you just told your friend how you liked him.
"Idiot." Haganezuka grunted as he took a sip of the drink in his hand, "As if you could ever chase me away."
"W- what was that?" You couldn't understand what you heard. Did Haganezuka like you?
"What do you think?" He shot right back at you and you froze, "I… I don't know?"
"Let me explain it to you so that even you can understand…!" Haganezuka growled as he looked at you, "Do you have any idea how annoying it is to listen to you talk about finding someone to love when I am right here!?"
You blinked, confused and the alcohol in your systems didn't help you at all. Nope, if anything, it made things harder for you to read and understand.
"What do you want?" You asked and Haganezuka frowned as he took your drinks and placed them on the table. You were about to repeat your question, but he grabbed your face and kissed you without any warning.
You felt your eyes widen, but slowly you let them close and you found yourself kissing him back. It was a very simple kiss, but for some reason, it filled your stomach with butterflies unlike any other kiss ever did.
Slowly and reluctantly, Haganezuka pulled away from the kiss and tucked a strand of your hair behind your ear.
"I want to be your lover." The man said and you stared at him with your eyes wide.
Those butterflies..! They were coming back, and-!
"Hrk!" You slammed a hand over your mouth and bolted, running straight to the toilet and letting it all out. Haganezuka flinched as he heard you hurl and he decided that you had enough to drink. So while you were getting rid of everything in your stomach, he took your drinks and bottle of vodka and poured them all into the kitchen sink.
He heard you flush the toilet and walked into the bathroom to see you hugging your toilet seat like your life depended on it.
"Had enough?" Haganezuka asked, not resisting a chance to tease you. You groaned weakly before your body convulsed and you dry-heaved, but nothing came out.
"I'm…" You gagged, "I'm never drinking again…!"
"Alright, come here you drunk," Haganezuka helped you up on your feet and took you to your bedroom.
"Hotaru…" You whined and whimpered as he tucked you under the blanket and as soon as your head hit the pillow, you fell asleep. Haganezuka stared at you for a second before he grunted and left your bedroom, opting to sleep on your couch so he could make sure that you remembered this night tomorrow.

Perhaps In Another Life
This is inspired by a similar post by @o3o-aya and I wanted to put my own take now. Zenitsu/Muichiro/Tanjiro in Gyokko's, Kyogai's, and Kaigaku's parts are left up to interpretation as platonic s/os or are 18 just for this post.
Summery is the reactions of the Upper/Lower Moons watching you run back to your Haishira s/os upon their defeat. Will stay sfw etc.
Warnings for yandere themes, kidnapping mentions, death, etc.
Tumblr media
KOKUSHIBO:
Tumblr media
He hadn't felt such clarity until he met you. Your unrelenting kindness and compassion towards everyone regardless of who they are or what they're condition was is what attracted the affections of the stoic and fearful Upper Moon One to you.
Even when you discovered who he was. Even when he at first threatened to eat you alive. Even at the expense of your own life. You still only smiled at him with your kind eyes.
Such things as this should not have wasted on someone like your husband who was his enemy. Let alone the man was blind. He could never see you for who you really were. Who you could be. With everything Kokushibo could give you, make you be.
It hurt everytime you cried begging him to let you go back to your husband. Promising him you wouldn't tell anyone else.
Perhaps that's karma for his sins.
Turning to dust and ash.
Watching you run back to your husband. The one who wouldn't ever see your eyes. Clutching his sadly smiling from as the Stone Haishira took his last breaths.
A scattering of longing failure etched into his soul. Perhaps in the next life he will have the chance to see those kind eyes once again.
DOUMA:
Tumblr media
You would never forgive him. Not for taking the life of your sister-in-law. Not for taking you away to this cursed place. And definitely not for taking you away from your wife.
Douma sees what he's doing as nothing wrong and if he does he doesn't care. You are a goddess to him. A goddess he makes his followers worship alongside him even how disgusted you are by his actions vowing to never give him the same love and care he craved after taking you from your wife.
Which is why when he met her during final battle, he didn't hesitate to get rid of the object between himself and your affections. Funny how fate had other plans.
Those dam brats!
He wants to curse them out. Smile and laugh as he falls apart. But he can't. His decapitated body is melted far beyond his abilities. He can't even yell out to you to stop and come back to him as you run past. Kicking what's left of him over as you run into the arms of your injured wife. Hugged in a giant hug by those brats who killed him.
He finally knows what rage feels like and now there's nothing he can do as the world goes black.
AKAZA:
Tumblr media
He never meant to hurt you. He would never harm any woman, especially not someone he loves like you. You were too kind. Too innocent.
He didn't think that Water Haishira deserved you. He didn't deserve the kindness and patience you poured into him just to make him smile one time at you after so many hours. Or finally hug you only when you're ready to give up! That wasn't a relationship to him! He'd give you the entire world on a silver platter to see you smile at him
Only you never did because that smile was never his to take. There was already one waiting for him and he happily ran into his fiance's arms as you ran into your own.
He loves Koyuki..but he's also loved you. He regrets looking back at you embracing your fiance and making you cry.
He hopes to be able to meet you in the next life to do nothing else but apologize and hopes you forgive him.
KYOGAI:
Tumblr media
It's hard for him to hate you after showing him that he wasn't worthless. All he wanted was to be acknowledged by someone.
He never wanted anything more than to just stay in that comfort that you provided when you first wondered in a while ago.
That's why he couldn't bring himself to be angry when Tanjiro and you hugged like it had been years since you were taken and cried as he held you tightly.
He hoped you both would be happy as he could now rest with his art recognized more than ever before.
GYOKKO:
Tumblr media
THAT BRAT! HOW DARE HE?! DAM YOU DAM YOU DAM YOU!!
The mantra is repeated over and over and over again in what's left of his mind as you cower behind the turquoise eyed Haishira currently slicing him in the fit of rage and spite only a spurred loved one could hold.
"Don't ever reborn."
OH he swears too! Even as the last vision of his sight is sliced to nothing, he vows to return over again and take revenge even if it takes a thousand lifetimes!
KAIGAKU:
Tumblr media
He's greedy. He does anything to benefit himself and that applies to how much greed and resentment he would have if you had chosen Zenitsu over him.
This festering carries over when he turns to a demon, his greed amplified to the point he takes what he wants. Which was you. That puny, whiney little snake didn't deserve you! You don't need him! He didn't care if you cried over Jigoro's death and got angry if you even mentioned Zenitsu let alone beg to go back and see you again.
He fully intended to kill Zenitsu and bring back his body to you to show that you can just forget about him.
But now there was. Falling down to ashes and soot. Zenitsu had caught your form before you all could fall down and now you both were being carried away from him crying and clinging onto each other like a lifeline.
Meanwhile his own lifeline faded to nothing but darkness. Cursing you both and what could've been.
NAKIME:
Tumblr media
(Sorry if her's is short. Im not used to writing for Nakime.)
She knew that it was only a matter of time after Yushiro took over her mind and Muzan exploded her to nothing. She had tabs on everyone including you as Sanemi clutched onto you and refused to let you go. One of the very last things she saw before she was no more. At least she could be at peace knowing you were alright and with someone you cared about.
HAIROU:
Tumblr media
Many memories have been lost forever to Hairou thanks to the repeated battering he gave himself. But he'd never forget the way Shinjuro treated him, so what better way to get revenge on the Rengoku family than stealing his daughter-in-law from him.
Except falling for you and deciding to keep your for himself definitely wasn't a part of the plan. Even with how much you begged and pleaded with him to be let go back to your husband, the son of the man who caused him so much suffering. No. No he'd rather keep them suffering than to admit defeat and allow them any kind of peace of mind.
So when the inevitable happens and he's forced to live the new trauma of the copy of his greatest enemy hug his precious wife close to him and kiss away her sorrows, he curses the entire bloodline from now until the very last member takes his breath.
Tumblr media
Im going to do a second part with the other moons next. Bare with me there.

Hellooooooooo! If it’s something you don’t mind doing good, could you pls write some headcanons about Kyogai with an autistic reader that just freaking loves his voice and music? Like, they’ll just lay their head against him and completely zone out while you speak, or they’ll seek you out for auditory stimulation. I hope this request works for you!
Have a great day!!! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
Autistic Reader Enjoying His Music and Voice
Fandom: Demon Slayer
Character(s): Kyogai
Type of Request: Headcanons
Note(s): You have a great day too and I hope you enjoy this!!
Tumblr media
Kyogai
He was so unbelievably flustered the first time you mentioned enjoying the sound of his voice and music. He's glad that you enjoy the music, but his voice too? That caused him to feel so shy, but he tries to talk more for your happiness.
Tensed up the first time you leaned against him when he was playing his drums, but he can't help but relax and enjoy having the audience. Does his best not to play too loudly though. He knows you can get overstimulated and doesn't want to ruin your happiness for his music by playing too loud or hurting your ears.
Likes to run by any new rhythms or songs he's trying out by you. You enjoy his music no matter what, so he wants you to hear anything new that he comes up with. It's a nice boost to his ego and helps him when his self doubt wants him to just tear up the music sheet.

Note
I would like to request a headcanon reader x kyogai, enmu and kyojuro with a reader who is particularly very tall, being a woman at about 1,95 m in addition to being quite strong despite having a slim body and is quite beautiful, I always wanted to know how they would handle a partner taller than them.
Enmu | Kyogai | Kyojuro [X Reader]
In which their gorgeous s/o is taller than them, along with being comparable in strength.
Tumblr media
Enmu
Absolutely obsessed with you!
Enmu loves that he can rely on his s/o to defend him as much as he might defend you, all though he is much, much better at handling larger groups at once
You turn heads, being a total rarity in Japan
Often times, people tended to assume the worst of you, but were quickly shamed when they'd realise you were just like anybody else
At least that was what they thought
They didn't know you were on your way home to your easily excitable demon s/o
Enmu finds it interesting that even when he goes out without a disguise at night, so long as he is next to you barely anyone spares him so much as a glance
He figures its your beauty, and gets a little protective of you
More than happy to lift himself up with meat tendrils to give you a big kiss
Kyogai
You are not even an inch taller than him, but still ever so slightly more
Not that he mentioned it beyond your first or second encounter, which frightened him for a solid moment
I mean, tall people weren't rare but...his height around here was what made him stand out so much, and now he felt strangely normal
At the time, you had been lured into his mansion, but when he tried to attack you, you were more nimble than ke expected
Nimble enough to move out of the way of his clawed attacks and tackle him to the floor
Couldn't bring himself to kill you, since you were just such an anomaly
Probably believes in cupid, or soulmates, since he is always in his own fantasy world
Yeah, of course this large woman was made for him, why else would she have gotten in here?
Kyojuro
You actually tower over this poor boy
I don't even think he expects it
When he feels your presence for the first time, he turns to look you in the eye and instead met with your chest
To which he promptly apologises for and loudly proclaims that he was not expecting anyone else out so late
Never mentions the height, honest to god he may not even think about it in that empty head of his
What he does mention all the time is how beautiful you are, and how lucky he is to have found someone so out of his league
You are leads stronger than him despite not being a member of the corps, so he'as always trying to convince you to join
If you ever say yes he quickly changes his mind and convinced you not to, because while he wants you to fight by his side, he is afraid he may have to sacrifice himself or you
And he wants his giant gf to last a while

Within the Yokai's Realm
Within the Yokai's Realm - Chapter 1 (will be a LONG.. long... story... currently being cross posted on AO3) various kizuki members x fem reader (polyam?? idk) list: kokushibo, douma, akaza, aizetsu, sekido, karaku, urogi, nakime, gyutaro, kaigaku, hairo, enmu, kyogai rui, zohakuten, and daki are mentioned but are not love interests(for obvious reasons) summary: The Yokai.
It all started with that damned shrine maiden.
warnings: none for this chapter, but later chapters may hold canon typical violence or slightly suggestive situations/dialogue. no smut will be included wordcount(for this chapter): 4,316 A/N: OC's are mentioned and play as background characters/old friends of the reader, but are not main characters and wont be showing up much. this fic is set within an AU where demons are instead various yokai from traditional japanese mythology
Tumblr media
Long ago, the lands of Japan were teeming with magic and mischief. Foxes played cruel tricks on travelers, Oni slaughtered dozens. The ghosts of mothers haunted the living, begging for the safety of their children. Gargantuan whale skeletons swam through the bays, bringing misfortune and plagues and mystery along with them before diving off to sea. The wolves formed ladders, and the cats took rule of their masters. A friend would turn around without a face, and ghostly canines would nip at your heel to do their owners bidding. The weasels would nick at your skin in a flurry of wind, and the mountains were under the rule of fierce, winged protectors. The statues stood guard for shrines and homes alike, stony glares sending thieves and trespassers alike to flee. Serpentine forms would coil and thrash through the waters, rearing antlered heads and whiskered muzzles as they unleashed storms upon humankind, and all of humanity cowered and begged. Offerings would be set out, spirits bribed and pleaded to for protection.
Often, this would be in the form of food or expensive items, gifts to earn good favor. At times, if especially desperate or facing an incredibly powerful yokai, one might even send out a daughter in a white kimono to be spirited away and never seen again. Such things would grant a family or village one of few graces. Should such a spirit be inherently hostile, this may end in it being appeased and leaving you be, wandering elsewhere to wreak havoc. If it is a more benevolent or mild mannered creature, you may have earned yourself a protector or guardian, at least until it felt its debt was repaid.
At least, that is what your elders always told you. Nowadays, no one believed such tales, unless you were a child or awful gullible. High strung stories to teach lessons to children, shying them away from woods full of wild animals and dangerous falls, instilling respect, hygiene, and politeness. You were not gullible, not in any sense of the word. Hard working and diligent, you followed the advice of the stories, but not out of fear. You simply did what was right, and while you didn't believe in the supernatural aspects of it, the tales held proper advice... aside from a few, which you weren't entirely sure of the origin.
Perhaps, the elderly simply like to scare children. You certainly used to shiver at night, thinking about the ghouls and ghosts that may suddenly spring out should you so much as speak to them. That was neither here nor there, you haven't been spooked by ghost stories in many years now, and there are always much more pressing matters to attend to than glancing over your shoulder at every bump of wail in the night.
Making your way out of your home, you gave a brief goodbye to your family, a sweet wave to your younger siblings and parents before stepping out into the village, taking a deep breath to steel yourself for the day. Sunlight streamed through the air in haphazardly tossed golden banners, filtered through the trees which swayed lazily through the air, tussled by the soft morning breeze. The quiet chirp of distant birdsong meshed with the sound of nearby chatter, a myriad of voices flowing together like a babbling, indescribable brook. The houses nearby were small and quaint, cozy and endearing. Your village wasn't the largest or most prosperous, but you all got along with life just fine. The people here were usually happy, although there was a pinprick of agitation that simmered through the population, even on such a nice day.
A glance towards one of the houses on the far end of the village, partially smoldered and still smoking slightly, was a clear indicator as to why.
There were many things to be done and many people you had to speak to, already a slight weariness working its way through your bones at the mere idea of it all. Bracing complete, you took a single step forwards, already intent on grabbing the nearby bucket. As soon as you took your first step, a voice called out your name as a bumbling woman practically charged up to you, voice booming and incessant with some broad smile stuck to her face.
The woman raised her hand, amethyst eyes locking onto yours as a dark purple rattail followed her like a streamer. "Y/n! Hey, Y/n!!" She greeted loudly, and you couldn't help but jump slightly, eyes widening as you peered towards the approaching figure. Coming to a screeching halt in front of you, she doubled over, panting for breath for a moment before her head popped right back up, forcing herself to rise to her full height once again as she crossed her arms. "Nice morning, isn't it?!" She shouted.
This girl-- Kiyohime Tatsuryu, you couldn't help but remember her name after she had all but screamed it into your memory upon your first meeting a few years ago-- is not someone who lives in your village. Rather, she lives in a nearby settlement, inhabited only by her own family. Her family was insistent they were descendants of dragons, boasting their staggering height and muscular builds as their so called proof, and as such Kiyohime was the only mostly sane person you knew who so firmly believed in the Yokai… not that you didn't doubt her at times. Given her extravagant nature, you weren't so sure she always had her head on straight, but she was pleasant enough company whenever she came into the village for supplies.
"Yes, a pleasant enough start to the day." You hummed, giving an exhale as you placed your hands on your hips, momentarily glancing away from her as you surveyed the village once more. The longer you looked, the more obvious the strain and scuffles were, eyes narrowing as you took notice of a few stray red stains. You peered back towards the towering girl who still stared down at you before she barked out another sentence. "Say, what's going on, anyway? Everyone seems all tied up and... well, fixing things? Why's it smell like a bon fire!" She inquired, tilting her head as you winced.
Right. She didn't live here, so she was most likely unaware of the whole situation. Another sigh left you as you raised one hand, eyebrows furrowing as you tentatively bit your tongue. Unsure what to do or even what to say, you looked away again, hesitantly eyeing the nearby bloodstain before deciding to simply smooth back your hair, pushing away whatever fell into your face. “Well, lately we’ve been coming under attack by some rogue bandits. A few have ah, guns, right? Those Western weapons. They've been stealing our belongings,” You slowly spoke, wincing again as your hand slid to instead rest on your neck. “... and should we fight back, they've proven they don't mind killing.” Kiyohime’s eyes widened, her boisterous posture now slouched, as if deflated from the shock. “Huh?!” Was her only response, jaw dropping open before blinking multiple times as you avoided her gaze. “Yeah…” You mumbled with a slight hiss. “We don't know why they've come here, but honestly, we aren't in a situation where we can care. We just need to try and--”
You were loudly cut off by a sharp voice, a growling hiss of an interjection. “Those damned bandits are here because you haven't made any offerings to the Kami!” You immediately wheeled around, caught off guard by the sudden appearance. A fiery young woman glared up at you, blazing red hair and eyes befitting her red and white attire, her hair swooped back into a low ponytail. Perhaps the only shrine maiden within miles of this village, it was a strange thing to see her here at all. A hermit and a recluse, miss Tamashi Reibai, or at least you were vaguely sure that was her name, hardly strayed from her shrine of Inari. She was younger than you, Hell, she was younger than Kiyohime. Despite this, the girl never had a lick of respect for you or anyone else she’d met. A finger was roughly jabbed at your sternum, accusatory in nature. “You lot haven't even tried to appease any spirits, of course you fools are under attack! You’re the village chief’s daughter, for crying out loud! You go talk some sense into that daft old man before you all end up dead!” She snarled, tone cruel and sharp as you took a quick step back.
You quickly frowned, the beginning of a scowl on your face as you lifted your hands in a sort of mock surrender. “As much as I… appreciate the input, I have things I need to actually take care of. We don't have the resources to spare to try and offer it up to spirits!” You had to forcibly bite back the scathing addition of ‘who aren’t even real’, digging your fingers into your palms hard enough to turn your knuckles white as you clenched your jaw. You didn't believe in spirits, but you knew someone like Tamashi very much did, and it was rude to insult someone's belief… even though you wanted to bite her head off when she went on these maddened tangents. You were familiar with the behavior of shrine maidens, after all your mother once was a priestess before she became engaged to your father. However, it seems you didn't have to do much of anything this day, as the woman behind you suddenly stepped forwards, placing a rough hand on your shoulder. “Hey, what’s the big idea? This village is, like, under the protection of the Tatsuryu family! What's a better spirit than a dragon?! I’m sure if I pray to them, my ancestors will gladly protect this village too!” She laughed out, as if seeking to dissolve the tension, however Tamashi immediately turned to her like she was about to blow a fuse.
“You’re no closer to a dragon is than any lizard you pick up off the side of the road, you moron!” She snapped, and you quickly moved to pinch the bridge of your nose as Kiyohime immediately yelped out. “What?!” With the purple haired girl fixated on the shrine maiden, you slipped out of her grasp before sidestepping the two, immediately going to tune out the now shouting argument right outside your door as you went to grab the previously discarded bucket. You took care to dust it off for a moment before peaking over your shoulder at the bickering girls before a gruff sigh left you, shaking your head disapprovingly before walking off. Unlike the two visitors, you actually did have things to be done further than a supply run. You settled the bucket against your hip before carrying it off towards the well, however you knew you were being tailed from the shuffle of dirt behind you. Glancing behind every so often, you caught a glimpse of a smaller figure diving behind cover every time. A real novice of a spy, but you simply rolled your eyes before turning back around, only to jolt as someone suddenly appeared in front of you. You gasped, taking a few steps back before you glared at who was in front of you. A young man, not even 16 yet, still a bit shorter than you and his jawline still soft with some baby face.
“Shit..! Ryoku, don’t scare me like that!” You lightly scolded, frowning at him as he only stared up at you, a slight scowl on his face before he fell into step with you, and after a moment of silence and waiting for him to speak, you shook your head before continuing on. “You know, she’s right.” He started, voice raspy with a biting edge to it. You remained quiet for a moment before peering towards him, flicking over his shortly cropped blueish gray hair and his narrowed amber eyes, a scar slicing up his cheek. Ryoku Kohikigane was a quiet boy ever since his father’s disappearance some few years ago, paired with his mother’s death. The boy had always blamed the Yokai for it, insisting it was a monster who killed his mother and took his father away. Most of the village doubts this story, instead more inclined to believe the idea that it was simply bandits or wild animals who had done such a deed, but Ryoku always insisted there was foul play, insisted he had even seen it happen.
“Who’s right?” You hummed thoughtfully, not wanting to startle or further piss the kid off. “The shrine maiden. It's a Yokai who’s bringing those men here, I’m sure of it.” He spat, marching alongside you as you finally ceased your walking, moving to fill your bucket with water as you spoke. “Hmm. Well we don’t have the resources to try and appease them and I’m sure you already know that,” You started, a slight twinge of discomfort on your face as you eyed him, but he quickly spoke again. “That's why we aren't going to appease the damned thing, we’re going to kill it!” He exclaimed, posture firm and rigid before he took a step forwards. You stared at him incredulously before shaking your head again, pressing the heel of your palm against your eyes. “No, no we are not.” You sighed out. “We can hardly fight against the bandits, how are we going to kill a spirit?”
You inquired flatly, tilting your head as you peered towards him again, only to jolt yet again as he suddenly grabbed you by your shoulders. “I’m going to kill it, that’s how! You send me and the men out, and I’ll track it, and I’ll get it!” You frowned as the water sloshed slightly from his jostling before you waved his hands off. “Not happening.” His eyes widened as if dismayed. “What do you mean not happening?! I need to!” He declared, and you took a step back before your gaze softened, blinking as you carefully considered his words. “It’s not going to bring him back, Ryoku.” You spoke gently, eyebrows knit together with the slightest frown on your lips, and he seemed baffled to hear you say that.
His lip trembled slightly before he glared at you. “That's..! Not…!” He started before he shouted aimlessly, turning on his heel and marching right off before a young woman immediately darted towards him, placing a hand on one shoulder. Spiked blonde hair was all you could see for a moment as she babbled on to the boy in a hushed tone, but when he tilted his head to look at her, you could see a slight softening of his expression. The woman turned to look at you before waving, a wide smile on her face and dark eyes wide with a certain fondness for you… or, rather everyone. Hikaru Naginasa, a pleasant young woman around your age. You grew up together, and while you were never exactly close with your constant duties, she certainly saw a friend in you, and you felt the same towards her. Especially since she also shared your opinion that the only thing going bump in the night were stray animals or petty pickpockets. Ever since her own elder brother had left the village and Ryoku had lost his parents, she had kindly stepped up to take him in, and as such the two were basically siblings now.
She offered you a big thumbs up and an apologetic glance. You smiled back at her, nodding your head in silent understanding as she ushered the boy off. You were glad the kid at least had someone taking care of him. Now that you were finally left alone, you huffed as you hoisted the full bucket up, making your way back to your family’s house. It was a small village, but it was typically peaceful, and you did care for its inhabitants greatly. Even the few returning visitors you got were treated as if they were one of the villagers, respected and liked… depending on their personalities. Thinking about it, you really hoped Tamashi and Kiyohime had finished their argument. But as you grew closer, you could still hear the sound of shouting… and you could see a crowd forming. Shit.
You groaned before you picked up the pace, moving as quickly as you could without spilling the water you had worked so hard to collect. “Coming through!” You shouted as you wormed your way through the crowd, clutching your bucket of water close to your chest before your eyes landed on Ryoku in the crowd… smiling a fierce grin ear to ear. Your heart dropped. That’s not a good sign. Quickly you forced your way through the last of the crowd before suddenly you caught sight of what was happening. Kiyohime had the shrine maiden in her clutches, holding the red haired girl above her head and hoisted into the air. She, and I say this with utmost certainty, screamed out a roar, and Tamashi thrashed and shouted in her grasp before the shrine maiden grabbed onto one of the arms holding her up.
Diving her head down, she snapped her teeth into the purple haired woman's arm, who immediately yelped in pain and dropped her to the ground. Tamashi, ever the sly, grabbed onto Kiyohime's rattail as she fell, harshly tugging at the girls hair. She cried out before falling backwards, landing right on top of Tamashi before rolling over. “That’s it!” She shouted before grabbing the shrine maiden by the ponytail, whipping her around just as had been done to her. “Oh sweet Heavens…” You groaned, squeezing your eyes shut before screaming out. “You two stop that!” The two briefly paused, panting from exertion with bruises already blooming on their arms and some blood trickling from where Kiyohime had gotten bitten, before the two glared at each other again. Both went to swing at the exact same time.
“I said, stop!!” You shouted again before swinging back your bucket, and there was a resounding splash as all the noise stopped. The fighters finally relented, blinking owlishly at each other before glancing down at their now soaked clothing, hair plastered to their faces and dripping down their backs. Their heads craned towards you silently. Tamashi glared but for once backed down, huffing like a disgruntled bull with a shake of her head. Meanwhile Kiyohime opened her mouth and closed it, aiming to say something before rethinking it, for once at a loss for words and left floundering about like a fish. You narrowed your eyes dangerously at the two for a moment, sending an apologetic look towards your family gathered on the porch step of your home, but suddenly you froze up at the sound of a horse's whinny.
With everyone's attention focused on the brawl and the sound of shouting, it seems the unmistakable clip, clop of hooves had gone amiss as a pitch black stallion stood tall and foreboding, the rider a burly man with a sour smirk across his face. A lame attempt at armor was secured across his shoulders and chest, and a blade was sheathed at his waist. He leered at the crowd, gaze trailing over the two soaked and bruised women before snorting a laugh. “Y’two sure had fun. Enough fun for you an’ your whole sniveling lot not t’ notice me.” He gave a breathy wheeze before his grin turned to a snarl, lips still upturned in a sneer. “But to buisness… the boss has got a proposition for you all.” He tugged on the reigns of the horse, the animal neighing with a shake of its head as it reared for a moment before settling down again, ears flicking about.
It was as if the entire world had stopped aside from the man atop the horse. Not a single villager dared to move, let alone say something in response. Even the birdsong seemed to have quieted, a deathly silence crawling through the village and murmuring between the creaking trees. He seemed to take some sort of enjoyment from this fact before he spoke again. “If y’give us the village chief’s eldest daughter as a sacrifice, well, we’ll all just done leave you be. Send her out in a white kimono of the dead, and--” The snide voice of the man was cut off by a much more frail tone, though it still held command to it, a gentle voice which somehow still demanded a certain respect. “No.” A simple enough response. An older man stepped forwards, his hair black and cut to about his shoulders. His vision had been failing him in his older age, but he was still the village chief. “I will not cast out my daughter.” He stated firmly, a chagrin smile across his face. “If that is your price, pick another. But I will not accept a bargain for the life of any of my children… and that extends towards every member of this village.”
The man atop the horse snorted again. “Your precious daughter over there went and threw water over our men last we came through! They almost went and caught sickness, and d’you think they’d go an’ survive if they did!?” He snarled, and you glanced down at the bucket in your hands. You paused for a moment, narrowing your eyes as you glanced towards the villagers around you, heart beating out of your chest. “We want that bitch dead! Serve her up on a silver platter and we’ll let you all live and scrounge about the dirt like y’already do. Keep her, and we’ll come knocking by force, and let the rest of you all join her in Hell.” The man growled before cackling again, the threat and promise clear in his voice. They wanted you specifically dead. They would be willing to spare the village if you go along willingly… you speak before your mind can fully catch up.
“I’ll do it.” You call out firmly, eyes narrowed as you tighten your grip on the rim of the bucket. Immediately there is a rolling tide of voices, suddenly snapped out of their stupor and calling out in denial. “Like Hell, you will!” A sudden boisterous voice sounded behind you before a hand gripped your shoulder, spinning you around before both palms pressed against your arms. Water still dripped from her, soaking into your clothing as Kiyohime stared down at you, jaw slack from shock and eyes wide as she realized the severity of the situation. “Y/n, no way!! You can’t just, just, hand yourself over! No way!” She shook her head, even shaking you around for a second before another young woman burst forwards, dark eyes brimming with tears as the blonde threw her arms around you, and you grunted as you were knocked around. “Y/n, you can’t die! We’ll all protect you! And, and we’ll all be okay!!” Hikaru babbled, clutching tightly around your midsection as Kiyohime shouted again. “What she said!! My family will come, and we’ll all protect you and the village! We’re warriors! You’ll have the dragon’s blessing!”
“I have to.” You murmured, though you silently dropped the bucket to the side, tentatively lifting your hands to pull Kiyohime into an embrace as well, despite how your head only quite reached her shoulders. You felt more water sink into your skin and clothes, and you couldn't tell if the shiver that wracked your body was from fear or cold. Peering around, you took note of the way Tamashi recoiled, eyes wide and surprisingly… withdrawn. Thoughtful. Ryoku hesitantly stepped forwards, expression hollow yet fearful. Though he was a much more prickly young man, he did have a certain level of care for those in the village, and he respected you for your kindness. He didn’t dare reach out but it seemed he wanted to. “Y/n, you do not have to do this.” You turned your head to peer towards your father, and you shook your head, pulling away from the arms of Hikaru and Kiyohime.
“Father. I must do this, and I will do this.” You stated firmly, and while you regretted and feared every word that tumbled from your lips you knew you wouldn't choose anything else. Not for the entire world would you choose for your friends, your family, to be killed in your stead. You knew they wouldn't approve, that they felt the same way. But they were not the ones the bandits wished dead. You steeled yourself, taking in a deep breath. “It's my choice to make.” Your father stepped closer to you, foggy eyes peering towards you with concern as that usual soft smile held a bitter sadness to it. “Are you sure? I cannot stop you if this is what you choose. But know that you can stay.”
“I know.” You gently replied, suddenly having to repress tears as you stepped forwards, wrapping your arms around the older man as he carefully hugged you back. Your younger siblings quickly scurried closer, throwing their arms around you as they wailed and begged you to stay, your mother soon enough joining your father in a silent embrace. You tried your best to ignore the scoff from the man atop the horse. “Y’got two weeks before we come and get you. If we don’t find you in our camp by then,” You glanced towards him, and he seemed to take great pleasure as he lifted his hand, dragging his thumb across his throat with a krrrrk noise from his tongue. He gave a rowdy laugh before suddenly whipping the reigns of the horse, whom quickly whinnied before carrying the man away, galloping past the crowded villagers and down the path.
You held just a bit tighter to your father as you gave a sigh. Might as well get this over with sooner rather than later.

Demon Bride Ch10 All In A Name P3
Everyone knew demons didn't exist.
...Right?
(WARNINGS!!!:  Some cussing, Mentioning of reader's fractured leg, death/implied death, fighting which will include some wounds and mentioning of wounds and a demon's hand being cut off.  )

Quiet night. Unholy night of beasts. Feasting their sights upon the stray women who dare stay out at night when the full moon rises, lighting the pathway for the beasts to claim their prey. Gnashing teeth, snarling fangs waiting to take a bite into innocent flesh where the terrible claws miss. Waiting to snatch you away down into their dark abyss never to return.
The bark of trees felt rough against the palm of grey skin, perfect to blending into shadows and walking along the darkness of the cursed trees that beckoned any unknowing traveler further into their branches. A light step. Another light step. Light enough to not be heard by anyone my dear. A quiet mouse amongst the darkness a contrast to the many others in the surroundings. Many preferred brute force by tooth and nail, fang and claw to drag off their unwilling prey in the name of twisted love they've come to claim or give. Ears perked just now hearing the far off wails that sounded like some sick love sick beasts. A whoop of triumph from the lungs of some lucky beasts who was able to stake a claim on some poor soul that accepted their twisted gift of love. Dark black claws dug into the harsh bark of the thick plant that would otherwise not feel the pain it would usually cause another living thing. An aura of annoyance flooding forth from the source of the claws, and the darkness only received a scoff, as blue eyes as dangerous as the bottomless ocean looked up towards the sky, towards the source of the happy wails from far into the trees' abyss of darkness.
"Tch. Dam fools. They act like dogs in heat! The lot of them!" A voice. As rough as it was envious. The idiots. No brains at all. Now all that celebrating would do was attract others towards him in wanting to fight him for the claimed prize he just received. He knew that was the case entirely because many a shadowy beasts was already flocking towards that noise. "They have no dam senses to them!"
Fools. All of them fools. They should've quietly snuck away when they had the chance. But then again he couldn't expect any of them to be close to the intelligence he held. Whatever. He wasn't out here to watch the rabid fighting of fools, as entertaining as it was to watch others rip either apart. No. He had something else long thought over he wanted to be done with. And it all started with the wind. And the air filling his lungs. And a sweet scent that wafted within both.
Huh....That was different. Not one he was often met with, but one he was familiar with.
One he liked very much.
But why would one such as this be this close to the forbidden areas?...Unless someone carried it with them. Either way it was something that had gained his attention, and even if it was nothing, there might be fun had in seeing why this was there. And so light steps approached the direction of the scent, back against the few remaining lights of the setting sun. Step after step as the scent grew stronger and the forest less dense around him which was the more interesting part to it. It was the more confusing part of all about it really. After all-
"No peaches should be this dam close."
He recognized that scent now. It was one he often craved and made his mouth water, but one thing he could barely have as it was out of bounds of the forest line. Often he could catch the faintest of their scent from further down the mountain where he was sure a plethora of them grew, but he could never see for himself. But sometimes on rare occasions he worked hard enough to please his master, he would be rewarded with the succulent fruits of his labor. The soft fruit being devoured within seconds before being missed again. Perhaps it was someone else who had gotten their claws on them? If so he'd cut them down and take what he wanted as a prize for disobeying the one law no one shall disobey without permission from the Master. And he would rectify it. Then maybe he'd be rewarded with more fruits for his loyalty. The thought excited him. Maybe this night wouldn't be such a dull fest after all. The scent lead until the tree line forbiddily broke and it left him standing there cloaked in darkness as the last few rays of sunset left the world, and saw nothing. After just a moment of standing against the wind he cursed himself for being stupid enough to even entertain the goose chase that was this night. He cursed this night, and his luck and the stupid hope of rewards. He would've turned around and disappeared back into the shadows if it weren't for one thing that made him pause in his actions.
A ghost in the night.
A white shining in the dark up the pathway that lead away which lead the sweet scent of fruit with it. Odd. What was that? He hadn't see something like that before. Not around here and especially not at night, but there was visibly something there. Alive and moving within the moonlight. Well, well. Now what was this he wondered? His curiosity got the better of him. After all he did have nothing better to do than to follow from the shadows and get close enough to see what exactly this strange new oddity was. And the end result was what surprised him the most. The white movable object was indeed a living being, not a ghost or figment of the light like he suspected. But...it was not an animal either which was what both confused him more. It was a woman. No older than him, maybe by just a year or two in her early twenties, judging by how young and beautiful her form looked. This was...intriguing. And quite the interest. It was-..
"Human."
This was not a topic lost on him. He heard many tales of the humans from his Master's engagements with them and Douma's countless rambles (that often gave him headaches-) and he had even seen one although rarely if ever. Master's wife was human. Their child was human. He sometimes saw them when the Master made mandatory meetings or surprise inspections. The woman was...Kind. He was indifferent about the Master's choice in mate, as he didn't know her enough to have an opinion other than she was a lovely woman in appearance. And sometimes if he walked near the edge of the forest at the right time, he'd see humans traveling along the roads but he could never get this close or ever saw a sight stranger than a long young human woman walking by herself at night, especially tonight of all nights. Unless she-... No. It couldn't be. A-...
"An offering?"
A tempting. Young offering of scents that caught his interest and tempted him enough to follow. Yes. A nice offering for a nice night. Oh how the tides have turned in his interest. He began following this 'ghost in the night' half out of interest to the sweet and half out of boredom as there has really been nothing interesting happening tonight that Akaza wasn't able to (annoyingly) handle himself by getting there before he did. And he wouldn't be judged surely if he was just checking out this seemingly random traveler walking about at night none the less. It was highly stranger and maybe even suspicious, so he set off silently following the lost looking human woman wondering the paths. He only assumed she was lost as she shivered against the night's wind and dug her hands harder against the strap of your bag. Every so often she'd whip her head around wide eyed and looked directly at him, but because he was cloaked in darkness so well she never saw him, and only shook her head and continued walking on. It amused him slightly that she couldn't blatantly see him looking right dead at her, but what was to be expected from a human?....He had to admit though.
She WAS cute.
Soft looking skin. Neatly dressed clothes. Pretty f/c hair. And gentle looking f/c eyes. And a simple look that all humans seemed to have. Or at least what he's heard of.
Akaza spoke often of a woman's beauty seriously and showed great disgust towards some specific colleges of theirs who agreed with his statement but in a perverted way. Honestly he couldn't be bothered to think about such things too much. That foolish thinking would only hold him back! Hender his training! And such a thing would make him look pathetically weak!! And he HATED being weak. Plus women were annoying! That was a literal fact! Every YEAR he had to break up countless fights, taking up so much of his time, and waste his time when the same thing happened all over again two seconds later once his back was turned! The women he helped weren't even grateful just fleeing or getting angry that he dared interrupt a fight over HER and sometimes attacked himself. Ugh! Nothing about them was 'cute'. Especially that Daki woman! She had her brother practically wrapped around her finger, when they weren't arguing that is, and she was as bratty and vain as they come! And Susamaru- OH! Don't get him started on that piece of work! She was always so annoying just throwing her toy balls everywhere trailed by Yahaba who did nothing to stop her! And girls always made men go nuts! Lose all sense of thought! No. No. He was always better off without them. The only one he sort of liked was Nakime because she was serious and non nonsense like his Sensei. Other than that, he could care less about them!!
....But on the other hand-
The Master's wife was...gentle. Kind. Softer than anyone else he's ever met. She was...quite a contrast to the Master in both looks and personality, and he'd be lying if he didn't say he wasn't once envious of him for having a beautiful wife like her. Ever since the Master met and married his wife a few years back he had been more...lenient. Not very much, but it that woman's impact certainly saved himself from a few harsher punishments he would've received otherwise if she hadn't impacted the Master's life. So whatever impact she had on him, it made a noticeable difference (sometimes).  So maybe human women had some kind of talent he wasn't aware of. However this human woman seemed quite pathetic.
At one point she passed by a fork in the road and went deeper into the mountain until she stopped sometime in the early night and looked lost. Well what was he expecting? Humans had zero night vision. But at one point she pulled out what he assumed to be a map and looked over it. At least she had enough smarts to do that. The wind was still blowing however, and it wasn't long until the map was blown from her hands, into the woods, and like an idiot!! She ran right after it. Into the forest.
The forest filled with demons hunting for a mate desperately. The forest no one was allowed in. The forest which HE was supposed to make sure no one entered.
.......Oh Crap-
Ohcrapohcrapohcrapohcrap-
OH CRAP!!
"Shit!"
He was going to be in SO much trouble!! He'd be punished worse than the time he accidentally sliced his Sensei's ponytail off!! She wasn't supposed to be in here! Stupid humans! Ok. Remain calm. No matter. All he had to do was literally grab and toss her back out before anyone knew! Yeah! Easy peasy. No one would even know, and he'd avoid being in any trouble! He'd even scare her just to make sure she didn't get any ideas of coming back! It would be as easy as hunting a blind deer! Nothing he couldn't handle! After all it was just one simple human.
....Oh how his problems loved to get bigger.
Because he didn't find her at all. Not at first at least. He followed her scent but he couldn't pinpoint her exactly which was starting to get him worried. Maybe he HAD been just seeing things from being overworked or bored to death. That was until he heard a scream. A very loud, high pitched, woman's scream! That had him snapping his head up against the wind in the direction of where it echoed out from, which was followed by a second just as scared shriek just moments later. Which could only mean one thing and he was dreading it-
"SHIT!!"
Some idiot HAD ended up finding that human! If she wasn't tossed out of here, it'd be his head! He was thankful for the extra speed training his sensei made him do, strengthening his legs and lungs in order to handle more speed and get to places faster. He still had a long way to go before he matched the speed of someone like Akaza, but it should be enough to get done what he needed to get done. And then he ended up smelling it again. That unmistakable sweet scent of fruit. That must've been the human because he only smelt this fruit when he was watching the human anyways. The wind and branches creaked past his black body darting between the grabbing branches and wind that howled with laughter seeming to taunt him for his blunder. Made him snarl and grit his fangs harder. Dammit! He followed that sweet scent until he skidded to a stop, a small cloud of dirt falling up from his feet sliding into place in the black dirt, came to a small cluster of dark trees only to find..nothing. Not a soul. But the scent was all over the small place, along with one other which smelt foul. Another male. And he could see an imprint in the dirt, as if something large fell from someplace high above. Dammit! Was the human attacked by an ambush? He wasn't sure. All that he knew was that she got away because the sweet scent was faintly head off into the west direction, and the foul smell followed, which obviously indicated a chase was given. Ah! F his life! This was going to be a long night! But none the less he growled and just ended up sprinting again after them. Dam human! Dam season! DAM ALL OF THIS!!! He was about ready to cut someone in half!! The wind was blowing away most of the already faint peach scent but he was lucky enough to be graced with yet another girly shriek of terror from just up ahead. Good. That was close. REAL CLOSE!! If fact, it was so close, he could hear a voice already-
"Stupid woman! SHUT UP!," a man's voice bellowed out, "Are you trying to alert others!? Dammit! You'll be a terrible mother."
Dark tree past dark tree. Weaving past darkness and limbs and lungs heavy with air whirled around by the wind. The vision appeared of a small innocent white ghost of the night and a sin daring to attempt to snuff it out for it's own needs. The trees couldn't hide that from him. Adrenaline pumping. Viens bunching up as a black tsuka of a katanna was grabbed, burnt to the touch as the rumbling of thunder was parting the whirling, taunting, laughing wind to make way for an electrical storm that bubbled through his blood vessels and gave the needed power to metal to become the lightning strike that shook the scene before him.
"Stop struggling! It's futile! There's no escape-"
SHING!!
A metal sound. A shine of silver in the dark. A dash of shadow. And a strike of thunder.
It all happened too fast and too dark for her mind to comprehend what happened. All that she knew was that one moment she were pinned against a tree and the next dropped to the ground like a rock, landing with a loud thud. A loud inhuman half screech half animal cry pierced the air and crimson liquid splattered across the dark. The cry echoed across the darkness, and was cut short when a powerful foot kicked out and struck the handless demon in the chest, knocking him back. And his form went flying back into the darkness only to be swallowed again and disappear, the red trailing after him, the only sounds to be heard was broken branches and then a loud thud and then the silence resumed once more.
"Dam idiots."
He stood there. Snarling. Staring off in the direction of the body he had just kicked away. Wasn't enough to kill, he could've easily crushed his chest on the spot but chose not too. For many reasons. He was here to retrieve not instigate a fight. He'd be in more trouble if he just started a fight, and he didn't need more trouble. He just needed to fix this situation before anyone else found out about a human woman stupidly bumbling her way in here especially when he was watching her! That wouldn't do him any good. If that insect knew what was good for him, he'd tuck his tail between his legs and run. After all, he was merciful enough to let him off with a warning. He could regenerate his hand easily and he doubted that kick did any real harm, maybe he'd be sore from falling back but he'd be-
Another shriek rang out from behind him. Causing him to snap his attention back to the thing he came here for.
In a flash her body reacted, scrambling away from the severed hand that just laid limply and crawling back on her hands and feet clumsily until her back hit a tree, breathing heavily. Ah right. He supposed that would've scared someone like her who never saw combat. Simple minded creatures, weren't they? He just rolled his eyes and turned his body to her, but the movement made the human freeze...before she slowly looked over and up at him, and she froze jaw dropping open. Hey now. He didn't think he was that horrendous looking! By demon standards, he was drop dead handsome! But then it clicked that she wasn't looking at his face, it was the long sword he still had unsheathed. A small slap sound came from her when her hand slapped over her mouth. Was she afraid he'd cut her down as well? That was ridiculous. He'd be more trouble if she was killed by him verses if he just tossed her out! Like he suspected. Simple minded. Let's just get this over with.
In a small rapid session his fangs clacked together enough to get her to look at him. "Hey! Get the hell up!"
He thought he made himself loud and clear, anyone else would perfectly understand what he just said. But instead she gave him the same looked he'd give the Master if he was in trouble. Pale. Terrified. Jaw dropped. And f/c eyes wide in terror at what she was seeing. Oh come now. He knew he was intimidating, but he hasn't even made a move to harm her! Although..her...Her face was actually kinda cute now that he was able to see it up close. Soft skinned. Pretty eyes reflective at him. It didn't have any demonic features like extra eyes or horns. And her f/c hair falling down her legs framing her face in a nice contrast to the white bridal gown she wor-
....Oh..Oh! ...OH!!
Like a flash of lightning in a storm, it all flashed across his mind now. Oh. A...bride. A human bride. It was a human offering. Oh. ...Well this was awkward. There hadn't been one of these since the mountain drought two hundred years ago. Back then, the humans thought sending a young lady in 'sacrifice' would cause some divine intervention from the demons to end the drought. Spoiler alert!! It did indeed NOT do that, and instead the poor human ended up getting taken by Douma to join his cult. No one ever heard anything about her since, and the drought continued on for another five years until mother nature sorted itself out. Of course this was before he was a part of the Twelve Kizuki so he actually never seen a 'Demon Bride' other than the Master's wife, so this situation was..Rather surprising to him.
The both of them stared at each other for a moment, before he opened his mouth revealing a mouthful of fangs and she flinched before he clattered them together in a rapid session to make the same clattering noise as before, before his face changed to look like he was straining his cheeks and a small shrill-grunt sound left his mouth.
"Get the hell up! Tell me why you're here!", he demanded and tilted his head expectantly at her terrified form. She still said nothing and it annoyed him. Great! Was she that scared?...Or maybe- Don't tell him you didn't understand what he just said! He grunted and rolled his eyes. "Not fluent in that, huh?" he spoke in human making her blink. "Figures you wouldn't be." He scoffed with another eye roll before bringing up his sword to inspect. And he scowled at the blood on it. It would have to be cleaned and polished later. "Disgusting pigs!" He harshly gave the blade one harsh shake to knock what droplet he could off, twirled it around with a wrist movement and aimed the blade to be returned to the sheath covered by his cloak. "So did I cut you or what?" She could only let her bottom lip quiver in response as she made some kind of squeak noise making him sigh in annoyance. "You gonna make me repeat myself? You humans are pathetic." She finally seemed to regain some sense as he scowled at her. "Hey, Human! Did I cut you or what!?'' She flinched pulling her hands to herself before frantically shaking her head no making him snort. "Good. Didn't think I did anyways, my skills are too precise for that."
She didn't answer. Instead doing something that made him pause. So taking a shaking hand, she pulled it back and slapped herself across the cheek making him just stare at her. By gods. Had she really HAD gone crazy!?
"The hell? Did that weakling hit your head too hard or something!?"
She hissed hand rubbing her sore cheek. "....This h-h-has got to b-b-be a n-nightmare..." She spoke barely above a whisper, but he still heard her voice.
"Tch. Unless you ran into Enmu, I highly doubt we're in one," he bluntly answered which made her flinch and look at him again. "But I've been trailing you this entire time so I know we didn't. Which begs the question." She yelped as he suddenly squatted and pushed his face into hers making it to where she were forced to stare into his angry scowl. "Who the hell are you!? You're not one of the humans brought in from the train! And you don't belong to Douma, you don't have his scent on you." His tail gave an annoyed thrash behind him. "So are you a trespasser or what!?"
"NO!!", she suddenly blurted out in fear. "I-I WAS JUST F-F-FOLLOWING THE MAP IS AL-ALL!!"
A thick brow rose higher, but he hummed. Yes..he had seen her with a map. "You were just following the map?" He asked again and terrified, she nodded making him hum again. "And then let me guess. You accidentally got lost on your way through here?"
She nodded again. "Y-YES!! That's r-r-right! I was!"
"Well why the hell were you not paying attention!? Any human should know once they're sent in that they need to be on the look out for scum like that!" He gestured at the ground like it should've been obvious. It was totally obvious for any bride to be thrusted in here that she should be careful for weaklings like the one he just trashed!! Didn't she even think of that!? She didn't answer and it made him growl before reaching up a hand to rub at his temples. Humans...This is why he never interacted with them outside of the Master's family. "Doesn't matter." The hand moved and he bore back into you. "I only spared your life because I wanted answers, otherwise I would have left you for whatever fucking scum to claim."
Screw this night AND this job! But...he wasn't sure what to do about this situation now. Now he knew she weren't a trespasser perse if she were sent to be an offering. Should he still throw her out? Can he throw her out while she was an offering? Was she allowed in here now or should he still toss her out? This situation was too new and complicated for him to figure out...He'd take her to Kyogai. Yes. Kyogai was the record keeper. If there was any laws for this kind of situation then he would definitely know about it! BUT-..If he was going through all this trouble to save an offering then he was going to make this worth his time! And right now he was very interested in that strong sweet smell, and her dowry. All brides these days had one to impress males if they wished to court instead.
"So before I leave your sorry ass, let me see your dowry."
Silence continued on. He stared at her expectantly. She stared at him silently wide eyed. Nothing answered them both except for the wind and creaking branches. ....And then he scowled.
"W-What-"
"Your dowry! Let me see your dowry! What do you have to offer me!?," he practically shouted at her face before giving a grunt of annoyance pointing at her bag. "In there! Gods above! Do I have to repeat everything to you!?"
She slowly rose a brow at him. "You want the-...A return payment?"
"Dowry! Payment! Offering! What ever the hell you people call it! Just give it to me! I know every human in your situation has one to give if they travel through here!"
"I-...I-I have no money." He seemed to exhale annoyed at her response. "B-B-But I ha-have these!"
He watched intently as her hands reached over, trembling harder, to her bag and he watched every moment intently. She reached to her bag, and pulled the top flap back with one hand, in an instant the sweet-sugary scent he'd been following this whole time intensified and she nearly flinched when you saw the way his eyes enlarged like a cat's when they saw a mouse. Instead she ever so slowly reached into the bag and pulled out a peice of cloth tied with a knot at the top, shaped lumpy with some visibly round objects. It was brought up to the monster held out, and his gaze was fully focused on it. He knew EXACTLY what was in that cloth before she even answered him again. His mouth instantly watered and his tongue flicked the inside of his fangs.
Peaches.
"H-Here. F-For you." She forced herself to smile.
He gave just the tiniest glance at her smile before he reacted in his own desires, her arm froze as the cloth was instantly snatched from herr hand and soon found itself within his claws, who didn't waste any time shredding through the cloth instead of just undoing the knot leaving the shreds to slowly float to the ground from his hands and inside amongst the shredded cloth in his hands was three small pieces of fruit. The small heart shaped pieces were cute looking in contrast to the clawed hands that held them, a pretty pink that faded to a yellow-tan color near the bottom. Not a blemish on them. Perfect. Sweet. And a delicacy to the tongue. He hadn't had them in so long...he couldn't even remember the last time he had one! He seemed almost in a trance as he stared at the perfect round things, savoring the sight just a bit longer to remember this moment by, before he could no longer resist the temptations. She flinched as a few peach juice droplets splashed against your hands and blinked. He had revealed his mouthful of fangs and bit through half of one peach with one bite, some pieces of the fruit falling to the ground. He exhaled slowly through his nose and his shoulders visibly relaxed. One more bite made the rest of the fruit disappear into his mouth like he was terribly hungry, then the second one followed the same fate as the first, gone in under a minute in two bites. It was by the third one that he even bothered to look at her again after all this time, where she had remained unmoving too. Was she still scared of him? Or was she waiting to see if he'd pick her for his own mate? Psh. Yeah right. As if he'd do that-...
Hm. On second thought. Maybe there was perks to having a human around-
After a moment he bothered to hum, arm reaching up to wipe at his mouth before he stood. "Not really a good dowry. Dam pathetic really." The last peach was tossed up and down in one hand. "The bare fucking minimum of expectations." Blue eyes carefully rolled over her form studying. She wasn't the worst looking. Infact it was an upgrade from most women he'd seen. ..Eh. She wasn't like the Master's wife, but her body looked strong and sturdy, and his senses indicated she was young and healthy. Early twenties tops....She might make a good servant. He hummed and then nodded. He'd check in with Kyogai first and make his choice from there. "But lucky for you, I'm feeling generous tonight. Hmph! You should be thankful!"
"S-So...Y-You're not going to hurt me?"
"If I wanted to hurt you, I would've struck you down the moment you stepped passed the tree line! Now stand up! We're leaving!"
She blinked.... "Leaving?"
He gestured at the dark. "Would you like me to leave you lost, alone, and in the dead of night where others are sure to find you?" He paused at what he said himself, because he hummed and turned his head upwards. She screamed quite a few times. Surely someone would've heard her, in fact someone might be coming towards them this moment. "With how much you stupidly screamed, I don't doubt others are already on their way here now." He growled with a scowl. "The bastards. Fighting like rats over a scrap of meat."
"N-NO!" He looked back to her as she forced herself on wobbling feet to stand before him. "I-I don't want to stay here! P-Please show me the way."
He seemed pleased with her answer because he huffed and one side of his mouth curled up in a smile. "That's more like it. If you're gonna be around me you need to step up your think-"
He didn't get to finish that sentence. In fact...He didn't get to even stand when a large hunk of branch flew past at lightning speed, and slammed right into the his side with a sickening crack sound. Wind flew past her from the sheer force of the throw, and the black robed demon was sent flying to the right and into a heap several yards away from where he initially stood. She stood frozen for a moment, the sight being too fast to comprehend what exactly had just happened. Then a horribly familiar voice spoke.
"Hands off the female! She's MY claim!!"
Her head snapped around, and she again shrieked as the insect-eyed demon has returned, hands fully intact and fangs bared towards the sight of another one of his kind as she stumbled back, eyes wide. A creaking sound was herd somewhere behind her followed by a loud thud and a deeper growl that reverberated off the wind and trees as a hiss sound escaped a black mass pushing themselves off the ground with many bone cracks and hissing noises until dangerously blue eyes cut through the dark right at the other.
"Dammed fools! You dare attack one of the Twelve Kizuki!?"
"I couldn't give a dam who you are! I staked my claim first! By law she's mine!"
And with that, he charged. She shrieked and ducked, arms coming to shield her head from the upcoming lunge but a black mass lunged faster, knocking the first one back into the trees as the two monsters rolled off. Something snapped within him. Perhaps it was all the pent up annoyance and anger at being challenged despite his rank. A whirlwind of claws and teeth they became. Crashing through tree branches, cutting one another, biting, each drawing blood from the other but he was stronger! He was faster!
He was superior!
So it wasn't very long that his opponent laid defeated. Silenced. Dead.
It wasn't a very long battle. Lasting under ten minutes. His wounds would heal within an hour or two. And he couldn't be in trouble for this, right? Surely he couldn't. Someone dared to challenge a Twelve Kizuki to battle and lost. Happened sometimes. And he had a right to fight since he insisted on fighting over the woman he still had unfinished business with. So he shouldn't be punished harshly for this. Although the fight was over, that did not stop his rage. For when he returned to claim what he had fought over, it was gone.
A piercing raged wail went through the night.
He couldn't believe this!! Did another one claim her while he was busy?! No. no. Couldn't have. He would've heard her shriek again. So that pathetic human must've taken the distraction and ran when he wasn't looking! DAMMIT!! And not only that-...
HIS LAST PEACH HAD BEEN CRUSHED IN THE FIGHT BEFORE HE COULD EVEN EAT IT!!!
He was angry! He was very, VERY ANGRY!! And he had to spend the rest of that night scrambling around trying to find this human, distracting him from his usual duties, and the scent going cold amongst the wind and other scents in the dam place! But now he was going to get in (maybe) trouble and won't get anything out of it.
....Oh so he thought.
One day went by.  Absolutely nothing. He was bitter, angry, and could do nothing but go back to do his own duties. Hopefully no one would notice or care about what happened. Everyone seemed too busy to pay him any mind anyways. Too busy struck by love-syndrome to really ever pay attention to himself. Which what he preferred anyways? It was best to leave him alone during these times anyways.
Two days go by and most of the bitterness had faded away, but he was still annoyed, stewing in the leftover bitterness that was attained from yesterday. Although an unexpected event happened, and it all happened as he was traveling along the Eastern tree line mindlessly. A very strong, and very important presence. Calling to him.
STRUM!
A forced pushed the back of his mind making him stumble in his step from how sudden it was. Like a mental rock was suddenly thrown on his shoulders, and it's weight made him lurch forward in real life, stumbling and throwing his arms out to catch himself against a tree. A feeling deep inside like something pulling his soul into a different box was tugging at his mind and it made him blink in confusion for a moment.
"What the fu-"
STRUM!!
His mind was pulled into a calling. It was like his conscious became thinned, light as air, and as nimble as a snake slithering through the lines of connection between himself and the bonds the Master's blood allowed them all to have. If he had one way of describing it, he would say it felt and looked like a tree rooted into their minds, different branches that were never the same but still connected to the same trunk in the end sharing the same deepened roots. The mind thread slithered ever closer to the thing that pulled and pulled and pulled him until he felt himself connecting to two others before him in this web of connections. He was thrown for a loop for a moment, but he quickly understood where he was and why he was here. One of the Twelve Kizuki wished him here, and the one responsible for bringing him here was just above him sitting silently. Upper Moon Five, Nakime, the one responsible for all transportation within this hivemind of threads. He reached out to that small thread sending a questioning thought for why she brought him here on such short notice. In return a thrum of an instrument vibrated within the wave lengths in return, and a mental arrow pointed to the third presence with them. And he followed her pointing. Who could it be who called him? Sensei Kokushibo? It wasn't the Master. The presence wasn't intimidating to him in the least.
"Kaigaku. I'm glad you answered my calling."
Kyogai!? What the hell could that lower moon want with him!? Especially now!? "What do you want!? I'm busy!"
He thought he heard Kyogai mentally sigh."I have something to ask you concerning some events which occurred last night."
"WHAT!?"
"Last night two intruders broke into my home."
"And? It's not my fault most of your staff are girls! You deal with your own territory and don't cry to me about not being able to do your job! If you want me to scare some dam idiots into submission, you can wait until I'm done!"
"You not doing your job is precisely my point! One of the dam insects claimed they were chasing a human bride through the woods!" The anger in the other presence fell silent. What did Kyogai just say? Human bride? In his home? "It's YOUR job to patrol the east side of the mountain and make sure no strangers enter or any demons leave the forest to that side of the mountain! Clearly you aren't doing your job good enough!"
There was silence for a few seconds as the younger presence thought on what he said. "You have the human?"
"I have no human!  DO. YOUR. DAM. JOB!! NEXT TIME SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAPPENS I'M REPORTING YOUR MESS UP TO KOKUSHIBO AND THE MASTER!! DO NOT LET SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAPPEN AGAIN! CONSIDER THIS YOUR ONLY WARNING!! Nakime, I am done with this message."
"NO! WAI-"
STRUM!!
The connection of the two wavelengths were cut off with a harsh strum of a bawa string, like a knife through hot butter, and there was a slight pain from the severed connection. He was thrown forward fast and with a gasp of air, was released from the wavelengths harshly without warning, ended up colliding face first into the tree he previously grabbed and slid down it to his knees coughing from the air knocked from his lungs. But he allowed the sweet silence to cascade over his body as he breathed. And there was silence. ....before a growl escaped his throat and bark splintered under his fingernails as blue eyes narrowed.
"Kyogai."
That was how he found himself in front of the infamous mansion throwing open the front door and making the sound spook any servant that was close enough to see his angered form stomp his way inside. This wasn't his first time here. Not by a longshot. He'd seek shelter here many a times before since it was so close to where he patrolled so it was very convenient for him, so much so that the older demon who ruled this home had been kind enough to give him his own room whenever he dropped by. Those whom saw him instantly bowed as his form stomped past them all one footfall after another.
"Lord Kaigaku. Good afternoon to you," one woman greeted with a bow but he ignored her in favor of stomping forward.
Further and further into the mansion he went, many servants bowing to the young lord but he paid them no attention. The scents around here all mixed with various different demons, but mostly Kyogai's. Kyogai was much more powerful compared to them all, so of course most of everything in here smelt of him. There was also the faint smell of blood. ...So Kyogai wasn't lying about intruders walking into his home. Which only made him more suspicious. Nothing really seemed out of place until he turned one corner in the mansion and paused.
"Found you."
And he stomped towards the smell. The very familiar smell he remembered from two nights ago. The very one he'd been trying to find these last two days was here, and he sure as hell wasn't letting her get off that easily. He quickened his pace speed walking through hallway after hallway ignoring the sudden bowing demons or any demons that were thrown his way, after one thing in particular. It got stronger and stronger and he was eventually able to pinpoint it to one room behind one door in particular. Heavy and quick footsteps went right up to the sliding door, his hand reaching out to grab it hard enough that some claw marks were  left behind by his claws and in one fluid, powerful motion he threw the door back hard enough to made a loud slam echo through the halls.
SLAM!!
There was a loud gasp, almost shriek at the sudden door open, and a woman whipped her head to him. F/c eyes met blue and he let a growl come out of his throat.
"It's about dam time I fucking found you."
**********************************************************************
You leaned back in the chair blissfully unaware of the approaching footsteps stomping their way towards your room. It had been a little while since Eri had left and left you just sitting there with nothing to do but keep your hurt leg submerged in the cold bucket of water. There was literally nothing you could do to keep yourself entertained other than to day dream of everything you wanted to do once you got out of here with your newfound freedom. Maybe that's why you didn't hear the stomping coming straight towards your room-
STOMP. STOMP. STOMP. STOMP-
Or the door being grabbed hard enough to leave claw indents in them.
SLAM!!
Making you gasp and whip your head to the thundering storm looming in the doorway only to meet blue eyes.
"It's about dam time I fucking found you."
You almost shrieked upon first laying eyes upon the demon who just barged into your room. Mostly because the entrance he gave scared you but you nearly shrieked again when the menacing form stepped in. Until you paused...and just stared at him. The demon didn't look much older than yourself, wearing a scowl on his face but not a dangerous scowl that said 'I'm going to murder you'. It was more of a really, really annoyed scowl like the ones Sanemi used to wear. Still made you nervous, but not to the point where you felt in danger. You watched with wide eyes as he stomped until he stood directly in front of you with that scowl of his, staring you down. His black cloaks looked torn and dirtied on him and here and there was small dirt smudged on his gray skin.
Wait a second. You knew this demon, but where did you see him?
You jumped as a black claw was suddenly pointed at your face. "Do you know how foolish you made me look defending you from that dam parasite!? I could have been killed for all you knew and you had the gall to leave without seeing if I died!!"
Oh right. He was the one who initially saved you from that first demon! You'd forgotten him up until this point. In the light he was a lot less intimidating.
"I should've left you to be made into someone's housewife than waste my time wi-"
"Are you alright?''
He paused. You stared at him concerned. He just stared back at you blankly for a moment. "...What?"He shook his head. "Of course I'm-"
He froze when your hand just grabbed his own and yanked. And he leaned forward, the surprising action catching him off guard. Especially when he felt something soft reached up and touch his face. And he just stood there as you squinted your eyes at him. One hand on his cheek, the other firmly around his left wrist as you took the chance to look over him. Despite his dirtied and ragged looking clothes, he seemed to be completely fine other than being angry, but you'd seen scarier. From Sanemi no less. Your eyes wondered over him and seemed satisfied to not see any damage to his body, so you released his wrist and face despite him staying stunned leaned over.
"I'm glad you're ok. That sounded like a bad fight you got into, and I'm sorry you had to go through that for my sake." Just apologize now and get it over with. You didn't want to owe anyone anything after you left here, including apologies, and he did have a point as much as you'd hate to admit it. He did spare you from that vulgar insect-eyed demon you first ran into and got in the way when it lunged back at you. Just remain calm. Everything would be fine if you just remained calm. It was then you bowed while still sitting in the chair which hindered your movement, but you did still bow to the best of your abilities. "I thank you for all the help and kindness you've shown me, and I apologize again for running off. I was scared and lucky to be alive." You then looked back up to his face. "And I'm not lying when I say I do hope you're ok. I'd hate for anyone else to get hurt because of me." And you were genuine with what you said. "Are you sure you're alright?"
The demon above you just-....Dumbfoundedly stared down at you. As if he lost all ability to think and act for himself. And ever patient you just continued to stare back silently at him. In total silence. Until you smiled to break the awkward silent tension and that small gesture finally seemed to snap him out of it because he blinked...before scowling and ripping his body away from you.
He opened his mouth and pointed at you...before closing his mouth and just growling before turning his head away. "I'm fine! Like I would allow myself to be hurt by someone beneath me! And you should be grateful to me! I could've left you to be taken by predators!"
You chose to not argue with him and honestly you didn't have the energy to deal with another Sanemi-like tantrum on top of your leg being hurt. If a small compromise of your pride meant peace, then it'd be better in the long run. Although you were not planning on seeing this demon again so soon.
"Whatever you say, but what are you doing here?" He turned slightly and cocked a thick brow at your question, a hum escaping his throat. "I wasn't expecting to ever see you again no offense, so why are you here now?"
He stared at you like you were dumb before scowling harder. "Are you dense!? I came here for you, Moron!"
Your brow rose now. "Me? Now why would you want to find me?"
"Because I need to toss you out! THAT'S WHY!!" A hand pointed a thumb behind his shoulder with a small growl from his throat. "If you hadn't come in here, I wouldn't be at risk for being punished! Who knows what'll happen to me if I don't make you leave!! Now get up!" He demanded with a 'come on' gesture. "You've plagued my existence long enough!" You...did not get up and only stared at him. "Well what are you waiting for!? I said GET UP!!"
"I can't."
"Why not!?"
"My leg was injured. That's why!" You frowned and gestured to your leg which still was dunked in the bucket of cold water. "I can't even stand let alone walk! Exactly how do you expect me to follow you out of here?"
He looked down at your leg, blinking as it just seemed to dawn on him that indeed your leg was in an awkward position. "What the hell- What are you doing sticking your leg in a fucking pail of water?"
"Trying to get the swelling to go down. The water's ice cold!," you deadpanned back at him he seemed to be annoyed again as he looked from your leg back to your face. "What? It's not my fault. One of those stupid monsters hurt me!"
"OH FOR FUCKS SAKE!!" At this point he threw his arms up looking both defeated and frustrated. "FINE!! Then I'll just take you to the human settlements Douma runs! One of them must have a healer! I am NOT getting in trouble for someone else harming a human!"
"I don't think that's a good ide-AH!!"
He didn't give you any warnings with two black sleeved arms just shoved themselves behind your back and under your knees before you were just roughly lifted up into a bridal style position in his arms. The bucket of water nearly spilling over from your sudden lift off via the demon who held you in his arms frustrated. On instinct your hands latched onto the front of his blackened robes which made him look down at you for a moment, taking in your wide eyed stare back up at him..Before he just wrenched his look away and turn you both around towards the door.
"W-WAIT!! I don't think this is a good idea! You could get in trouble more!"
He scoffed with an eye roll. "Oh, please. Who would stop me?"
"KAIGAKU!!!"
Your head snapped back to the still open door and the demon bristled. Muscles going rigid as an 'Oh crap-' expression flashed across his face, and then the footsteps, hurried and heavy came running down the hallway.
THUDTHUDTHUDTHUDTHUDTHUD-
Something big, heavy, and furious came running down the hallway and both you and the demon only watched as the floor shook under his feet. No escape as the thing came closer and closer- Until a giant clawed hand slammed harshly onto the doorframe making the demon holding you flinch and stumble a couple steps back as the looming form of Kyogai pushed his way into the doorway and stood above both of you much taller. You were confused looking between the now paled face of the demon holding you, and the furious look in Kyogai's blue and red eyes narrowed at the younger demon, breathing heavily from running all the way to here. You could only sit there awkwardly looking between the two demons staring each other down...Until your brow rose, and you decided to speak up.
"Kyogai?"
In an instant, his eyes snapped to you, and he blinked seeming to notice you finally, and froze. His blue eyes stared at your equally confused face, before they slowly roamed over across to where your hands gripped the black haired demon's front, then to said demon's arms holding you. Blue eyes widened for a second, but only a second, because instantly they narrowed into slits, a growl you hadn't heard him give before escaping his throat, and ever so slowly he pointed a hand right. At. The. Demon holding you.
"Put. Her. Back. Now."
The demon holding you stayed frozen in place for a moment longer before finally scowling back and pulling you closer to him. "Fuck off!"
"What are you even planning on doing with her!?," Kyogai demanded throwing up his hands, "She has no use to you!"
"I'm not getting in trouble because Little Miss Lost decided to wonder in and get herself hurt!!"
"HEY!" You scowled back at him but he ignored you staring down the taller demon with another growl.
"Wha- WHAT WAS YOUR PLAN ON FIXING THIS!? Dumping her outside the Eastern Tree Line!? She can't even walk! You'll end up killing her leaving her for dead, you dim witted beetle!"
He growled baring his fangs back. "That's why I was taking her to Douma's settlements!! He has one or two human healers so they ought to know how to fix her! And Douma's good at handling new human pets, so it'd be the perfect place for her!" Kyogai's face immediately twisted to one of horror as you shot him a look. "If I deliver her to a human settlement, then I won't be in trouble if she's with her own kind! Douma's always up for taking in more humans anyways.''
"Excuse me!," you yelled at him.
"W H A T!?"
The home shook. Literally. The entire mansion shook, lurched a bit from it's master's rage built into it making the demon holding you wobble and nearly drop you from how much he stumbled and you increased your grip on him yelping at the home's groaning creaks. As if the entire mansion was alive with his anger.
THUD!!
Kyogai slammed a single foot down leaning forward all of a sudden and got into the face of the younger demon who half paused half scowled at the older demon. "Now you listen to me you dam tantrum throwing insect! She is not even FIT for travel even if you carried her with the speed and grace of a swan! It was your own fault that this all happened in the first place! Maybe if you did your job and actually pay attention these things wouldn't have happened! Now would they!? This is why you haven't become an Upper Moon yet because Kokushibo still has to teach you the basics of the duties!!"
"How dare you speak to me that way!? IM A HIGHER RANK THAN YOU!!!''
"You're only a higher rank because of your strength and speed, and because Kokushibo has taken you on as his student so the Master was generous enough to grant you a position within the Twelve Kizuki! Otherwise you wouldn't even have the pleasure of being able to argue with me right now!" The younger demon flinched when a clawed finger roughly jabbed his chest. "AND LIKE HELL I'M ALLOWING DOUMA ANYWHERE NEAR HERE!!! THAT PERVERTED EMPTY SHELL OF A MAN CAN'T THINK OF ANYTHING BUT HIS OWN PERVERTED DESIRES AND I'LL NOT SUBJECT MY WOMEN STAFF OR THAT HUMAN TO ANY OF IT!!!"
"THAT'S WHY I SAID I'M TAKING HER TO DOUMA, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND!! YOUR 'PRECIOUS STAFF' SHOULD BE PROTECTED IF THAT MAKES YOU FEEL BETTER-"
"DAM YOU!! GIVE ME THE HUMAN!!" You squealed out as two larger hands hooked from under your body and again you found yourself being lifted into the arms of a demon, Kyogai to be in fact. He lifted you up and out of the smaller demon's hands. You blinked and looked up at him.
"HEY!! You have no claim to her!!," the black haired demon shouted back pointing at you.
"Oh! And I suppose you have?"
"YES!! Of matter of fact I do! Since she gave me her dowry!!" He huffed proud of himself and crossed his arms, and for once Kyogai went silent. Allowing this new demon to smugly turn his head.
"....What?"
"Yes! That girl-" He pointed at you. "-gave me her dowry which means she was interested in me! And I accepted, so obviously I DO get the final say in her! So I demand as a higher up and as my claim you hand her over to me!!"
You face palmed and Kyogai continued to stare at him silently before looking to you obviously for answers. After a moment you dared to look at him, and sighed.
"It's a misunderstanding," you cleared up. "Because first of all, and for the last time, I AM NOT A BRIDE!! I never was a bride before, I'm NOBODY'S bride now, and I never WILL be someone's bride!" You practically shouted into the air, frustrated at the constant bad hand life's always dealt you. And then you pointed at the smug jerk's face as he blinked. "Second of all, the only reason I'm here is because I got lost and then chased by some simple minded men who couldn't treat women with respect! That 'dowry' I gave you wasn't even a dowry! I just thought you wanted a payment in return for rescuing me from that beast!! And even then, I'm not going anywhere I don't know! I'm staying here and waiting for a doctor to come see me!!"
The black haired demon continued to stare at you for a long moment as you frowned back at him. "....So you're not interested in me? I thought it was pretty obvious."
Kyogai looked like he wanted to lash into him again but you stopped him before he could. "I never even got your name. What's your name?"
The black haired demon regarded you for a moment before huffing. "Kaigaku. Lower Moon one of the Twelve Kizuki. It'd do you good to remember it."
You nodded calmly. "Well, Kaigaku, I'm glad to meet you, but you're looking a little ragged. You should rest and have someone fix your clothes."
Kyogai perked up seeming to catch onto what you were doing because he was quick to calm himself. "She is right, Kaigaku. You look stressed and dirtied. You should rest and allow my staff to look over you."
He looked about ready to protest but you smiled and stopped him. "A member of the Twelve Kizuki needs to look presentable. It wouldn't be proper to allow yourself to fall into disarray, how'd that make you look to the others?"
To your surprise, Kaigaku actually hummed and looked as if he was actually considering it before he grunted. "Fine. But don't think I'm doing it because you asked. It's only deserving I get a break for everything I've done."
Kyogai's eyelid twitched, but managed to retain his rage. "Of course. Please, allow me." You yelped when all of a sudden you were hiked up to be cradled within one arm as his other, now free arm, went to one of the drums on his legs tapping it twice.
BUM! BUM!
Two seconds passed and a moment later there was footsteps and a random demon woman stopped in the doorway before bowing to the taller demon. "You called me, Lord Kyogai?" Wow. They were fast around here.
"Yes. Prepare the mens' bath for Lord Kaigaku, and send someone to address his garments. Tell the cook to prepare him a meal and have Ami prepare his room for his stay with us."
"And have Eri look him over as well."
Everyone looked at you as you stared at Kaigaku and pointed. "I don't like it that he got into a fight because of me, and I don't want him hurt. So just in case have Eri look him over."
"..I don't need a second opinion on my own body! I know my limits and strengths! I would know if I was injured!"
"Yes. But it would make me feel better, and I mean it when I said I don't want anyone hurt over me." You reached out and grabbed his hand making him freeze as you stared at him sadly. "...Please?"
...He opened his mouth- ....And closed it before yanking his hand away. "Fine! But I'll only do it as a part of the luxery I'm entitled too! Not for anyone worry especially a woman's!"
"Then I shall send Eri to look you over once you've settled. Mayla! Escort Kaigaku to the baths and carry out my other orders."
Mayla. (Was that her name?) She only simply bowed deeper before leaning back up. "As you wish, My Lord. Lord Kaigaku, please follow me."
"I've been here before I know where it is!," he mumbled but started off after Mayla as she turned and began to walk off but not before shoot Kyogai a look. "I expect to be informed on what the hell's happened in between my time last seeing the human."
"Oh you will be." Kyogai narrowed his eyes back. Wait until he heard about the Master already knowing about this. That ought to get this brat to shut up. He held eye contact and watched until Kaigaku (reluctantly) disappeared out of the door following Mayla and his footsteps disappeared, before he finally allowed his body to relaxed and he slowly looked back down to you still in his arms. "Are you alright? He didn't harm you did he?"
"Um...No. B-But could you put me back down? T-This is kind of awkward."
He blinked....and his face lit up a pink. "UH!! R-Right! Y-Yes! W-What was I thinking!? Apologies!" He was quick to set you back down gently in the chair before plopping your hurt leg back into the bucket with a small splash sound. Quickly retracting his hands away from your body afterwards. "H-Here! I-Is this better?"
You nodded. "Yes. Much better thank you." Your head tilted back towards the door. "But who was that just now?"
"That mess was one of my colleges. Lower Moon One of the Twelve Kizuki although if you ask me he does not deserve the generous rank!....But how do you know him is what I would like to know!?"
You shrugged. "I ran into him by accident when I first came in here. He saved me from an attacker-" Kyogai's brows rose in surprise at that. "-but then he ate all the food I had left for doing so. He called it a 'dowry' but at the time I just thought he wanted some payment in return for saving me. I guess that was yet another misunderstanding wasn't it?"
"Kaigaku expressed interest in a dowry? From a woman?.....Kaigaku!?" he blinked.
"Oh. Is that...bad?"
"I am...Unsure." Kyogai then mumbled and reached a hand to rub his temples with a sigh. "I see I have yet another thing to fix around here. I don't get paid enough for this."
"Oh...Well, Kyogai." He jumped when he felt you reach out and grab his hand in thanks blinking from under his thanks. "Thank you again for saving me! You're a real life saver. Was Eri able to treat you yet?"
His brain froze for a second, before with his cheeks pink he pulled his hand away and held it up. "UH! N-Not yet! I-I'm afraid she was interrupted by Kaigaku's presence!"
You blinked. "Oh. Well return to her and let her finish up healing you."
"YES!! I-I will! I-I return her to assist you as soon as possible," he slowly backed away and out of the room, "Please remain here and call one of the s-servants to help you." A hand grabbed the door and slid it shut quickly. "I-I'll make sure to have a word with Kaigaku. D-Don't worry."
You rose a brow at the sudden exit and even more so at the hurried footsteps retreating from the door. What the world just happened?
