i’m relieved we have you not enough people talk about suzaki 😭 do you have hcs for suzaki and amagai as hogwarts students?
firstly, thank you ❤️ i’m happy to be here as someone who seems to have fixated on ryo and kohei and has significantly less interest in everything else, though i was a fan of the series before the worst x haha. anyways into the question. i’ll discuss them romantically because i feel like a bit of a sucker today hahaha
disclaimer: rowling can actually eat my ass like this br*tish woman is a menace and idgaf what anyone else says about her. i'm genderfluid so i do wish she would evaporate. but i did grow up adoring some parts of hp so i have thought about szam in a hogwarts setting before!
szam hogwarts headcanons:
i’m a believer in pureblood slytherin kohei and halfblood hufflepuff ryo! i also see them as members of their house quidditch teams
speaking of quidditch, kohei gifted ryo his broom! i imagine that kohei always ensures to keep his broom up to date, the latest and best model, his family is of old money pureblood wealth so expenses are not even close to being a problem for him. and ryo is his best friend so he keeps ryo’s broom updated too even if ryo doesn’t actually see the need to change his broom.
kohei’s excuse for buying ryo brooms is that he needs ryo to have all the same equipment as him so that when he crushes hufflepuff in the inter house quidditch cup ryo can’t blame it on his equipment being shit (hufflepuff wins 3 cups while szam attend hogwarts, gryffindor wins 2 and ravenclaw and slytherin 1 each so kohei basically shot himself in the foot)
i envision ryo having a wizard father and a muggle mother and that he was largely raised in the muggle world but he did have knowledge of his father’s wizard blood so he wasn’t in the dark about it when he got his letter.
meanwhile kohei is pureblood. but since they were born after the second wizarding war, he doesn’t really hold any of the blood purity beliefs that older pureblood wizards hold. he does, however, laugh at people for being broke. ryo is an exception (a pattern for me, if u guys have noticed. ryo is always kohei’s exception)
i like to think that they met shortly before enrolling in school, like in diagon alley or on the hogwarts train. before they got sorted, and that kohei was disappointed when his first friend didn’t get sorted into the same house as him
kohei’s grades are way better than ryo’s, perhaps because his family placed more emphasis on success than ryo’s did. but ryo is better at casting spells and brewing potions and the actual practical parts of being a wizard lol, it’s natural talent. he’s just not good at written exams bc frankly he dgaf. (“if i can do it then the exam doesn’t actually matter right?” and kohei seethes)
on that note, ryo is a genius. there’s not a single spell or potion that’s deemed to difficult for him and it doesn’t take much work at all for him to perfect them. but he refuses any sort of opportunities presented to him by aurors who have taken an interest in him and the likes because he wants to be with kohei
kohei has had a sickening an obvious crush on ryo since the start of second year after he spent the whole summer at home thinking about ryo and realising how much shittier everything is without his hufflepuff friend every day lol. ryo likes him a ton too but is way more poker about it and is also so oblivious so their relationship goes nowhere for years. EVERYONE knows, even fujio from gryffindor knows and he never knows anything. everyone knows except ryo, who literally does not even consider that kohei could like him too until his fellow hufflepuffs directly confront him about his “relationship” with the slytherin quidditch captain in year 5
they’re each other’s date to the yule ball. kohei stumbles over the most embarrassing asking of the century and ryo never mentions it to anyone to save his reputation, but ryo is really happy about it
speaking of the yule ball, since they’re not actually together and the two other schools come to visit hogwarts. and of course, students from the other school mingle with them and flirt with them and ryo is a bit dejected watching kohei being polite (he’s convinced kohei likes them) to the people flirting with him, but moves on with it because he never really expected kohei to like him at all anyway. meanwhile, kohei’s wand starts sparking when he sees ryo cluelessly interacting with the people flirting with him.
kohei cant cast a patronus for shit. ryo got it on his first attempt, ryo’s patronus takes the form of a wolf and he’s more than willing to use it to defend himself and kohei since kohei’s patronus won’t take form
ryo’s probably really into the creatures of the wizarding world and follows that newt book like it’s the bible. on that note, because of his mother, he can see thestrals
yeah that’s kinda all i got for now. i haven’t consumed hp in years because well… like i said she can eat my ass. but this is what i remember of it! i hope it’s satisfying enough :3

The Headband Re-Watch
This is a funny episode. I don’t think I have anything too groundbreaking to say about it, & I wouldn’t call it a favorite, but I always have fun with it. I know it’s a rip off of Footloose but I’ve never seen the real Footloose lol. I do kind of like that Aang rebels against the Fire Nation culture through something as universally human & expressive as dance - it’s a nice antithesis to the repression the Fire Nation seems to encourage. This is also the first & only time we get a look at regular Fire Nation culture & the indoctrination they grow up with. It’s an interesting glimpse at the everyday life of Fire Nation civilians.
Aang humiliating Hide is hilarious. +500 iconic behavior points. I also think this episode presents interesting evidence for those of us who like to write modern high school AUs. Aang’s role is clearly a bit of a class clown & also very much a popular kid. He instantly gets the entire class to like him enough to want to come to his illegal dance party AND to cover for him when they get caught. This kid has a very high charisma score. I’ll also admit that this is kind of a cute Kataang episode. I still don’t personally ship it but I can’t say anything against it in this episode. The party scene is funny & cute. The best thing about Kataang in this episode is that Katara is shown reciprocating Aang’s feelings. It’s obvious she has a bit of a crush here.
Katara & Sokka disguised as Aang’s parents will never fail to crack me up.
Tumblr media
[id: Sokka with a fake mustache & Katara fake pregnant while Aang sits between them looking sheepish. end id]
Sapphire & Waang Fire my beloveds. They’re so funny & dramatic. I always cast the Fire Siblings as theatre kids & I stand by that ‘cause there’s a lot of evidence for that too. But have you considered? The Water Siblings are also theatre kids. +500 iconic behavior points each for Sokka & Katara for their hilarious disguises.
Zuzu is a hot mess (affectionate) in this episode. I feel like for a while I was trying to pretend I wasn’t a blatant Zuko apologist but I totally am & I think maybe I should just embrace it. This is probably the episode where Zuko is the most asshole he’s been yet but I still feel bad for him. It’s just…. Is he a complete jerk for melting down while visiting Iroh in prison - a prison Iroh is in because of him? Yes. But also…. I mean, the thing is, you guys, he’s a teenager trying to undo a lifetime of freaking indoctrination. Iroh didn’t tell him to join the Avatar until it was literally showdown time. Iroh had already started to question the Fire Nation & consider the importance of balance, but he & Zuko didn’t talk about any of this! From Zuko’s perspective, siding with Azula is the exact thing that always would’ve been expected of him. I just feel bad for him. I still feel awful for Iroh too though, rotting behind bars because of his nephew who he views as a son… ouch. And honestly, I feel like the thing that hurts the most about this for Iroh isn’t even that he’s suffering personally it’s that he hates seeing Zuko choose his father & the Fire Nation after everything they went through.
Tumblr media
[id: Iroh facing the viewer, frowning. Zuko is in the background behind bars. end id]
Huge fan of shots that put a character outside of bars behind the bars so it’s unclear who’s imprisoned.
I love cinnamon topography.
Also, I love Mai & Zuko’s little picnic.
Tumblr media
[id: Zuko & Mai smiling on a picnic. End id]
After watching Wednesday, Mai calling the color orange disgusting as they watch the sunset reminds me of something Wednesday would say. They’re just so cute.
I like how Azula gets Mai to go away by telling her Ty Lee’s braid is tangled. Hey, ladies gotta have their priorities! Also, once again Zuko’s inability to lie pops up. Azula is literally being such a considerate little sister by warning Zuko about visiting Iroh. I don’t see how anyone could view this any other way. She’s looking out for her big brother & I think that’s really cute.
I have nothing else to say about this episode. Tune in next time for more rambling recaps!

wanted to blather about the one fic i wrote but hate the idea of doing it on twitter and tumblr means i can hide it behind a read more for me alone.
The thought of lying to her was repellant.  As long as he didn’t lie.  And he wasn’t lying.  There just wasn’t much to tell.
makes me insane. always hung up on the idea of someone who is hiding so much from even themself because 'there's nothing much to tell.' as though it makes it easier.
Did it count as voyeurism if she knew he had looked?  Or if they stood in the same office?  The thought alone fills him with enough fear that he casts his eyes back down to the screen before him.
the idea of feeling completely unwelcome in a space that you're inherently being allowed into, the fear of being a voyeur just for the fact of existing and being able to see, the idea of one's eyes being harm and betrayal.
Three weeks pass at the Wright Anything Agency before Apollo realizes that, while Trucy is frequently there with him, Mr. Wright is never present at the office without his daughter.
the original line for this was "she never leaves apollo alone with her father." but i felt like that was too obvious so i said the same in more words. i think a lot about trucy seeing a lot of people go in and out, and the way that nick handles things, and the fact that apollo is someone she wants to have stay.
Currently, however, Apollo wishes that it wasn’t so sturdy, as Mr. Wright is right beside him, full weight against the edge.
i love the horrors and discomfort of workplace harassment. part of my fixation on this kind of thing is just the hyper-casual way that nick interacts with apollo and how ... there's this implication to me because that's so unprofessional and even unethical. in a court of law referring to apollo by first name, when apollo is literally his lawyer, and everyone else engages with apollo at a far more respectful level. the way that he talks about lamiroir or others in front of apollo. the way he jokes about apollo 'carrying his daughter's panties.' so much of it feels so inappropriate and it makes my eyes vibrate.
Wine must have spilled on his clothes at some point, as Apollo can smell the sour mixture of sweat and alcohol with how close he stands.  Mr. Wright puts a hand on his shoulder.  “I knew you’d be perfect for this place.” Revulsion, embarrassment, or excitement, Apollo can’t determine the feeling that contact invokes.  He mumbles, “Thanks, I guess.” “You guess?  Apollo, you can be a bit more grateful than that, can’t you?”
i specifically like 'you can be more grateful than that' here because i think a lot about how nick constantly frames apollo working for the agency as though it's something 'good' for him. or how nick constantly internally comments in DD about how apollo is too full of himself. just . discomforts.
Mr. Wright stands straight into a slouch
i just like this line. i think i did a good job.
“And, um.” The way it comes out of her mouth makes his neck itch.  There’s no way for her to say it properly, so Trucy simply says, “Sorry that Daddy’s so annoying.” Though his throat should have closed up, he hears his words get out.  “It’s alright.  Nothing I haven’t dealt with before.”
the neck itch is a higurashi reference lol. the idea of stress and fear. "nothing i haven't dealt with before" as a line meant to make one worry, as a line meant to invoke a sense of horror, without any context needed.
This time wasn’t strange.  But Apollo found himself surprised nonetheless.
i like this because the point is often how the scenes that are kristoph change seamlessly into a scene with nick, because they're meant to be the same. changing from past to present tense depending on the scene as well. referring to 'him' or 'he' without an explicit name because of how things like this all blend together at a certain point because you can't allow it to matter.
It’s an awkward fit as he’s blocking the left of the stairwell.  Offering a formal nod, Apollo walks closer to the wall.  The stairwell isn’t wide, barely enough for two people shoulder to shoulder.  He has a placid smile as Apollo walks by – yet – he puts an arm up, palm pressed into the wall, before Apollo can make his way past.
much the point of my horrors ...
Apollo keeps his stare even, rigid and unchanging eye contact.  He will not counter with the reality that he has had excuses in the past, but employers never like them, he has had written notation from doctors of illness that meant nothing, and that even if he did have an excuse, it was nothing he wanted to share and nothing he wanted to hand over of himself.  He will not and he does not.
Frustration about having to disclose too much about oneself to someone else, especially someone who is supposed to be "an employer", and frustration about a history of constantly being denied sympathy, no 'excuse' is ever good enough, nothing matters enough to let anyone have compassion for you.
He looks at him in such a way that Apollo’s jaw tightens.  Somehow he steals so much space before him and it is only with a moment of thought that Apollo realizes he gave it away reflexively.  Though the difference in height between them should not be so vast, Apollo’s mind blanks and all he can think is that one stupid meme.  See, he isn’t crouching down, he isn’t trying to pick you up.  He is following a pitch-perfect procedure.  Berating himself, Apollo claws back into the moment.  He can’t avoid the situation.  Yet no matter how he tries to focus, Apollo is forced to pour his energy into maintaining stoicism so as to not burst into laughter.
dissociation honestly. also.
Tumblr media
“You know, you could just ask.”
Nick leaning into the idea of Apollo's 'idolization' for him. I'm insane and think a lot about Nick engaging in sex as something transactional, especially in his business, and oh this is a 'repayment' right, Apollo? Making Apollo's vision swim.
Despite himself, Apollo’s heart races – he hates that – no matter what he means to say or do, some stupid aspect of his body betrays him.  It shouldn’t be real.
I'm insane. Stares into the void. I think a lot about physical reactions to things you don't want at all.
“This is a friendly invitation from one interested party to another.” Somehow. That makes some small part of Apollo’s brain snap. “I am not interested.”  There’s a sense of pleasure in hearing how harshly the words leave his mouth.  “I would like to get to work.” He is quiet.  And then, “Do you think this is all that different from work?”  And, mocking, he goes on.  “For you, I mean.”
since i do the Horrors of apollo wrt kristoph and nick knowing more than apollo would ever want him to know.
“There’s only one kind of work my daughter needs from you.  Leave the rest outside the office.  Apollo.”
nick once again holding apollo's previous affairs against him. both of them know he wouldn't ever do that, but it's this way of stabbing him through again, again, again. lol. uncomfortable with himself and distrusting and insane.
But that is all it takes for the horror to strike and settle like detritus below still waters.  Trucy knows.
Trucy knowing too much about her father's affairs also and that just chilling Apollo to the bone.
Apollo doesn’t allow himself to speak, nor to take the next logical deduction.  It does him no good now.  Kristoph is imprisoned for murder.  The Gavin Law Offices are defunct.  Two years of work, study, shadowing, maintaining, all under Kristoph.  Within that tightly wound reality, Wright knows what Wright knows.  Therefore – to linger is to cede oneself to that which has since been lost.  Much like every other part of his life, it is something to file away.  It’s a matter of the past.  There is no changing it.  So it isn’t worth considering.  It isn’t worth discussing.  Thus - Apollo smiles at Trucy.  The corners of his eyes crease in what is more genuine, more grateful, than anything he could ever say to her.
this is kind of the entire point of this piece ... 'it's a matter of the past so it isn't worth considering, it isn't worth discussing.' painful. sad. ... it's the point. how painful it is. how much we close ourselves off. how much we pretend nothing has happened to us and ensuring that anything but the present is burned away.
“So don’t forget, Polly,” she says.  “You’re my responsibility.”
also important. like recognizes like.
He smiled through it.  It was pretty easy to believe.  He’s just not the kind of guy, apparently.  He was probably from some weird midwestern town with six siblings and annoying puritanical parents.  He was only just coming to terms with being gay.
because no one would ever believe the absurdist horrors that have made up your life.
Year of 1933, a “good year”, or something along those lines.
year hitler came into power. kristoph thinks it's a funny joke.
"Only the foulest vermin on this earth would be so uncouth as to dirty a vintage Riesling.”
you don't age a riesling for more than 30 years usually. kristoph is a wine snob but he acts like he knows more about it than he really does. he bought this just flatly believing it without looking into it because it's about the prestige and the image.
That’s a small difference between the two.  One was a stickler for the specifics of wines.  The other only cares enough about wine to determine where on the scale of tipsy to drunk a single bottle lands him.
i like this transition from kristoph to apollo as well.
“How’re you able to make virgin drinks anyway?” Neutral voice, Apollo reminds himself – he answers, “It’s just a drink without alcohol.”
once again holding this kind of thing over apollo's head to get a reaction out of him.
This didn’t used to be so difficult.
the more things change the more difficult they become the harder it is to repress your actual feelings.
Indeed, even Trucy appears to be smiling with a wide-eyed exuberance.  No one else sees the way her pupils flutter around the room.  Anxiety or manic intense focus, he is the only one who begins to have an idea.
bit of a reference to AA6 and how trucy's eyes vibrate as she lies.
It is, in effect, a peace offering.  Neutrality.  They both care about her enough that there is good reason to avoid unpleasantness, disagreements, bitterness.  Wright gives Apollo a nod.
this is important to me becuase it is nick ceding a little ground. not enough. but it is kind of genuine.
It could always be worse.  It could be nervously sitting in the closet with a kid at the same foster home because he said you looked like you knew about that kind of stuff.
this whole section is also Horrors.
It made him feel hollow, at times, organs pulled and stripped, but
horrors horrors horrors horrors. the point is obviously like. horrors of sex without explicitly saying what it is, but also like ... again, repression of difficult memories and things you can't really unravel.
Wiping it off the desk made him gag, leaving him to wonder why it didn’t set off his gag reflex otherwise.  Maybe it was a matter of whose it was.  Apollo sprayed copious amounts of disinfectant on the table and on the inside of his own hands, as if that would help.
me writing this: this is normal
me reading this: oh this isn't normal, this is actually horrifying. ok.
again, i think it's pretty obvious what this is about. trying not to have to Say it though.
Tumblr media
once again the horrors ...
There was that Mormon group home that had around five other kids all sleeping in one room in three sets of bunk beds.  That might have actually been the point he first had sex, he thinks, distantly.  The meetinghouse after sacrament.  More out of spite than anything.  It’s pretty funny, thinking back on it now.  Mormon guys had such an insane attachment to proving they weren’t gay.  Much like their insane attachment to “saving” kids through the foster system.  But that was why he could argue that he “liked” confident men.  At least they wouldn’t try to play off literal gay sex and roll their eyes at him for being attracted enough to men to sleep with them.
'it's funny thinking back on it now.' it isn't, not really. it's just horror. this is the first time sex is explicitly mentioned. i think its important, again.
It was a far cry from living with Nahyuta, who would curl over his back with disgust and gratitude as they watched Apollo take over on gutting the carp they’d fished up.
leaning on the scene with kristoph about apollo's organs being 'stripped'.
no scented candles or acetone in the air.
nail polish remover btw.
As if on cue, knowing what he needs before he grasps it, he hears, “Polly?” “Yeah,” he croaks as a question.  “Trucy?”
grounding, safe, careful, utterly removed from the idea of sex or that kind of discomfort and peril and the way you say yes to things without really meaning it.
She gives him a look – what am I ever going to do with you – and answers, “Apollo, I already told you.  You’re my responsibility.”
younger but understanding and protective. apollo doesn't have the emotional maturity he should for his age. hasn't been able to be safe... neither of them, but the two of them help make each other safer.
He can hear the grin with which she said the words and it makes his chest ache.  There is an effusive kindness in her every move. Trucy times her knock so well that, if it weren’t her, Apollo would assume she’d been watching him change.
also again, comforting to know that she respects those boundaries.
Trucy knows too well what he has never told anyone, not even what he has wholly realized for himself. Would he detail exactly why her father’s behavior made him squeeze a stress ball hard enough to make it explode?  There wasn’t even a way to construct the words, the memories, organized and filed away with pointless procedure.  He is a lawyer. He trains himself to forget, teaches himself to give up, and he has been doing this for years.  It seems unfair that Trucy Wright would break into his life with the worst father and the worst events.  It seems unfair that her life is just as unreasonable.  It seems unfair that she’s the one person who recognizes anything within or around him that deserves scrutiny.
more explicitly saying what was said earlier. haha.
He looks in her eyes.  She’s not asking for anything of him.  Not asking for explanations.  She expresses exactly what she means through her gaze alone.  You cannot take that which is freely given.
this kind of thing makes me cry most of all.
She had entrapped him once already.  She would do no further.  He would be beholden to no one else but her.  She had made him her responsibility. That. Apollo could accept.
entrapped by forged evidence but no other can take advantage of that and she won't allow anyone else to consume him.
anyway done rereading my weird thing. gweh.

Maybe a Childe x reader x Zhongli (poly) domestic fluff/parenting headcanons? (Fem pronouns preferred)
poly parenting is very rare but i feel like it’s going to become more common as we progress as a society :)) hope u enjoyed
before reading: usual cut for baby/child/parenting lol, also there’s no mention of who the father is (could be whoever u want)
babies
you were married to your husbands for a little over a year before you surprised them with a pregnancy announcement
all of you were excited to start your family and were elated to find out you were having twins, a little girl and boy
though they both loved each child equally, zhongli tended to spend more time with your daughter and childe your son
your family was untraditional but you made it work
having three sets of hands around really helped alleviate the stress of being a mother (you had to feed your children and there was a special connection and bond you had with them that your husbands didn’t)
zhongli had no problem getting up at night to help with diaper changes or fussy dreams and childe liked to take your babies on walks through liyue during the day
when your babies grew old enough to start doing things on their own, it was a race to see whose name they were going to say first
your son blabbered out “mama” one day and childe pouted for a week straight
your daughter fell behind your son for a while, becoming the second to roll over or start crawling or talking so zhongli took extra time to sit with her at night and help her catch up
so it really wasn’t a surprise she said “dada” to him (childe was very upset again)
zhongli or you are in charge of dressing the babies since childe literally forgot to put on their onesies once
childe is the warmest though and sometimes when he falls asleep on the couch, you and zhongli will lay the babies on top of him because he’s like their personal heater (it’s also really cute)
lots of family cuddles in your big bed
your husbands on either side of you and your babies somewhere in the middle
children
cue childe running through the house with your son on his shoulders and your daughter nearly falling out of his arms
zhongli is the type of dad to scold his kids for sneaking snacks before dinner but absolutely cracking when they give him puppy-dog eyes (you and childe are the ones who sneak them the snacks)
sometimes zhongli is a little hard on the kids, making them do their homework as soon as they get home or making them read chapter books early
he just wants them to be smart and excel but you and childe often have to remind zhongli that they’re kids and they have their entire life to prepare for the future
your daughter is still infatuated with him and it’s nice to have intimate moments with her and zhongli when childe takes your son out for the day (you have intimate moments with childe too)
zhongli has tea parties with your daughter and childe teaches your son how to use a bow at a much too young age
you have family nights every weekend, whether it’s zhongli sharing a story from his past or childe giving the kids a new game to play together
you have a heart attack anytime your kids do something reckless and since childe is one of their fathers, they’re constantly doing reckless things
one time you came home to zhongli tied up to a chair and both of your kids circling him thrusting empty paper towel rolls into the air
their excuse was that daddy said dad was a dragon and we were the knights that needed to capture him
zhongli was not amused
this is obvious but these kids are SPOILED
you and zhongli definitely try to ration gifts and presents but if your kids really want something, they go to childe who they know will buy it for them instantly
your daughter becomes a bit of a diva because of this, demanding new cor lapis earrings everytime you all head down to the harbor (and childe always gets them for her)
the most important thing the three of you agree on is that your kids can be whoever they want - they’re allowed to wear any style of clothing that makes they comfortable, cut their hair or grow it out, experiment in their gender expression and sexuality
you know liyue is changing and your kids are going to be the future
you get very emotional the more milestones your kids reach because you know it means they’re growing up and they’re not your little babies anymore
The day your twins start their first day of school, you’re an emotional mess. You were an emotional mess the night before and no matter how much your husbands consoled you, the feelings carried over.
You were helping your son put on his jacket when your eyes filled with tears again and you found yourself crushing the little boy in your arms.
“Mama, I can’t breathe,” He said quietly. The five year old wiggled in your arms and you finally let him go, wiping your eyes. Childe was beside you the second he heard you sniffle and took over dressing your son.
“Isn’t it too hot for a jacket?” Zhongli commented from across the room where he was tying your daughter’s sneakers. Her outfit was very cohesive (and very expensive).
“What if it starts raining? Or what if it’s cold in the classroom! Or what if there’s a sudden snowstorm-”
Your ramblings are interrupted by Childe wrapping an arm around your kneeling body. “It’s going to be fine,” He says, “If you get too hot, you can take off the coat. Alright, bud?”
“Okay, daddy.”
Zhongli finishes stuffing the kid’s backpacks with their school supplies and helps each child slip their arms through the straps. He was hesitant to send your children to a school at first, wanting to homeschool them, but you insisted that it would be better for them. You had gone to school in Liyue and the people that taught you were the same people that would be teaching your children.
“We’re going to be late,” Childe said, checking the time, “Everyone ready?”
There was a chorus of “yes” and Childe gathered your children at the front door. Your bottom lip was still quivering at the sight of the twins in their new clothes and little backpacks. Childe grabbed each of their hands and Zhongli trailed behind, opting to wrap an arm around your waist in case you started crying again.
“Whose more excited?” Childe teased, starting the short walk to the school building.
“I am!” Your daughter cheered.
“No, I am,” Your son said quieter. Childe only laughed and flexed his bicep, pulling both kids off the ground for a moment. They giggled.
“They’re excited!” You blubbered to Zhongli, unable to control the tears. Zhongli wiped away your tears with a small smile.
“Isn’t that a good thing?” He asked.
You nodded and repeated, “They’re excited.”
“Daddy, are you and mama and dad going to go to school too?” Your daughter asked. Childe peered over his shoulder and shared a cheeky grin with you and Zhongli.
“We’re too old for school,” Zhongli answered.
“Oh,” She said, “Then what are you going to do?”
The question made you and your husbands freeze. What were you going to do? You had dedicated the last five years of your lives to spending every waking moment with your babies, what were you going to do now that they wouldn’t be with you for hours at a time?
“I think mama is going to miss you,” Childe answered cheekily, “And me and dad are going to practice sparring. Root for daddy, okay?”
Zhongli rolled his eyes but was too tired to counter. The kids laughed again and cheered for Childe until all of you arrived at the school building. It blended right into the city of Liyue and you would have missed it if it wasn’t for the familiar woman standing outside. She greeted you, ecstatic to see a former student of hers now had children of their own.
Childe and Zhongli said goodbye to the twins first, kissing their cheeks and ruffling their hair. They moved to the side and let you crouch down to their level. You bit your lip to hold back even more tears and wrapped your arms around your kids. You pulled them into your chest and they snuggled right in.
“Be good to Madam Changyang, okay?” You whispered into their ears.
“We will, mama,” Your daughter answered and your son agreed. Finally, you pulled away and Madam Changyang gave you a sympathetic smile before ushering your kids inside the building.
“You did good,” Zhongli told you when you stood back up. “They’ll be back in your arms in no time.”
It was Childe’s turn to hold and kiss you. “Would a nice lunch at the Pavilion cheer you up? My treat.”

Problem With You
Pairing: Rio (Good Girls) x Female Reader/You
Rating: Explicit, NSFW
Warnings: Language, unprotected vaginal sex, mention of bodily fluids, banter as foreplay, mental warfare, Rio being jealous...and admitting it (toxicity at its finest)
Word Count: 3.3K

You laughed to hide the expression of boredom you wore as you walked up the driveway to your house. Luke, your date, hovered behind you, an obvious look of hope in his green eyes.
It wasn’t happening.
“I had a really great time tonight.” He said with a sheepish smile, his boyish grin doing nothing for you.
“It was fun.” You lied, taking a step back to make your getaway.
Luke matched your movement as he started to lean in close, his intention clear. And unwanted.
“Hey, mama…”
The voice made you jump, forcing your date to move back and out of your space. You turned to your right to see Rio leaning against your parked car, legs crossed at the ankle and hands stuffed deep into the pockets of a black jacket. He was ominous looking. Mysterious, with that hint of danger that seemed to follow him everywhere. His dark eyes were trained solely on you, ignoring the other man just feet away.
“You know this guy?” Luke asked with an amateur bravado that made you want to cringe.
The men couldn’t have been more different. You knew of Luke from little league soccer. He was the father to one of the boy’s on your son’s team. He’d been divorced for a few years and had made his interest in you known once you and Paul had split. And after your rendezvous with Rio nearly two months ago, you were itching for something...anything that made you feel half as alive as you had that day.
It was not going well.
“Family friend.” You replied, gaze still captivated by the man in black.
Rio chuckled at your answer, but didn’t say anything to refute it.
“Are you-,” Luke started, addressing you with a concerned lilt to his voice.
“I’ll talk to you later. I’ve got some stuff to deal with.” You cut him off, leaving no room for argument.
Thankfully, he took the hint and nodded, pulling his car keys from his pocket. “I’ll call you.”
“Okay.” You said simply, desperately wanting him to leave you and Rio alone. The situation was beyond awkward for you. It was uncomfortable to have Rio present to view something so personal. And you could tell he was sizing Luke up, the smirk on his face saying exactly what he thought about your date for the evening.
Luke gave you and Rio one last wary glance before he was walking down your drive and to his parked car. You waited until he’d driven away before you faced Rio full on, eyebrow quirked up in annoyance.
“What’re you doing here?”
He didn’t answer you.
Instead, he straightened and began to walk in your direction, eyes appraising you and your dress. You stiffened your spine, unwilling to let him see you so flustered. That game was getting old. He would pounce on your nervousness, manipulate it to his advantage. You weren’t going to let that happen again.
In the weeks since you and Rio had slept together, he’d made his attraction for you obvious. The drop-offs were now moments for him to flirt, attempting to keep you in an anxiety-riddled state for his enjoyment. He liked to see you affected by his presence. You didn’t.
You’d regretted sleeping with him the moment it happened. You didn’t want to be involved in that aspect of his life when you were so entrenched in his business operations. It wasn’t a good look. And chances were, Rio wasn’t the type to take on a divorced mother of two from the suburbs. He led a very different life from yours. He was looking for someone to fill his needs in the moment. Nothing more, nothing less. But that’s not what you wanted. Least that’s what you told yourself.
At this point it was more about self preservation than anything else. And with Rio, your need to protect yourself was on high alert at all times. Be it your life or your dignity.
“Who was the guy?” He finally asked, his strides bringing him close enough for you to smell his cologne.
“Friend.”
“PTA or little league?” He taunted with a knowing smile.
You hated that you were that predictable. That he could read you so easily.
“Does it matter?” You snidely retorted, tightening your grasp around the black clutch gripped in your right hand.
“Nah, it doesn’t.” He replied smoothly, licking his lips...lips that you’d tasted...lips that you wanted to taste again. “We gotta talk.” He continued, face growing serious.
The shift in mood made dread knot your stomach. You swallowed thickly, eyes darting to the darkened houses and empty streets in your neighborhood.
“Inside.” You gestured behind you and turned away, leading him to your front door. You walked the steps up to your porch, not hearing him follow at first. You knew what the reason was. You’d worn a fairly modest black dress on your date with Luke. The garment hugged your figure with a high neck and long sleeves, the length stopping at your knees. The eye-catching feature of the dress was the back...or lack of. It was backless and it’d apparently gotten the attention of more than just your date tonight.
You struggled with your keys in the lock, feeling his gaze burn hot across your naked back. You shivered and sucked in a breath when you felt a delicate brush of a finger dance along your spine, his body heat now crowding you. His breath was warm against your neck, the suddenness of his actions making your head spin.
“S’cold out here. You’re shaking.” He rasped into your ear, finger still trailing in a sensual pattern against your flesh.
“It’s not the cold.” You said flatly, finally pushing open the door. You left him on the porch as you walked into the dimly lit house, setting your purse and keys on the bench in the foyer. You went straight to the kitchen, flicking on a light. The soft clicking of the door let you know he’d made his way inside after you.
You pulled two glass tumblers from the cabinet and then grabbed a bottle of whiskey that Paul had left behind. You poured the amber liquid into each glass, your mouth already preparing for the intense burn that would come with swallowing it down. You were in need of the liquid courage though.
“How’d you know my kids wouldn’t be here? You have my custody agreement memorized or something?” You asked as you sipped at the liquor, sliding the other glass towards Rio from across the kitchen island. The exact island he’d fucked you on weeks before.
You didn’t bother trying to hide your aggravation towards him. Ever since that day in your kitchen, he’d been difficult to ignore. He was a constant in your thoughts. Your dreams had only gotten more explicit, more intimate. It was irritating. You hadn’t felt right since. And it was all his fault.
“Something like that.” He said, eyeing the glass on the counter. He studied you for a long moment, as he was prone to do. He watched you gulp down the entirety of its contents, his mouth turned up in mirth.
“What’d you need to talk to me about?” You questioned, trying not to wince at the bitter taste that now sat on your tongue. The whiskey was already heating up your insides, coating them in a fine layer of confidence and nonchalance.
“How’d your date go?” He threw back, dodging your question as he finally picked up the glass and swirled its contents.
“Why?”
“I wanna know.”
He tossed the drink back in one go, his inked Adam’s apple bobbing with the motion. It was a surprisingly erotic sight.
“You really wanna know about my date?” You asked incredulously, eyebrow once again raised at him in question.
“I don’t ask questions I don’t wanna know the answer to, darling. You know that.” He retorted with a testiness that made you momentarily retreat.
“It was fine.” You supplied with a shrug of your shoulders, unsure of what he was looking for. The date had actually been a disaster, but you weren’t going to divulge that to him.
He laughed. A real laugh with his head thrown back and chest vibrating.
It pissed you off.
“What the hell is your problem?” You gritted out between clenched teeth, the alcohol now rushing through your veins and fueling your rising anger.
Rio went silent. He straightened to his full height and edged past the island to stand in front of you. His face gave away nothing. No smirk. No narrowed eyes. No false sense of security with a charming smile. Nothing.
“Who says I got a problem?” He finally said, leaning into your face and making you lock eyes with his own.
Your gut reaction told you to look away, but you fought against it. Instead choosing to meet his intensity head on.
“You seem awfully interested in my personal life. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you were jealous.” You taunted, fully expecting another round of laughter from him.
You should’ve known by now that Rio never did anything you expected. That’s what made him Rio.
“And if I was?” He challenged, not backing down from your accusations. He shifted closer, forcing you to lean back. “If I said I’d kill him for touching what’s mine. What would you do? Hmm?” He continued, eyes roaming your body as he spoke. His voice grew thicker, the desire now suddenly apparent and washing over you like molasses.
“You wouldn’t.” You whispered, feeling the ghost of his hands along your hips. The barely there touch made your body come alive with familiarity, the memory settling right between your thighs.
“I don’t make threats I don’t plan on acting on, baby. You know that.” He teased, throwing his own words back at you.
“I’m not yours.” You shook your head, tightening your hands into fists to keep them at your sides.
He laughed, though the sound held no real humor. “Yeah, you are.” He said with a nod, hand reaching around to drag along your back, making your eyes fall shut.
His touch felt so good. Intoxicating. Like your body knew who it’d been waiting for this entire time. You’d been a fool to think you could replace the feeling.
“What do you want?” You asked, exhaustion lacing your words. You felt like you asked him that same question every moment you were together. You knew the answer this time though. You were just hoping you were wrong.
“You.” He whispered, finger now caressing your cheek and pushing waywards strands of hair off your face.
You’d been expecting the response, but it still jolted you. Still made you fraught with worry and unease. You lashed out, pushing his hand away and putting distance between your bodies.
“You want me to quit my job. Leave my kids. To do what with you? Run away to wash money and run drugs?”
“Yeah.”
You studied his face for several silent seconds, searching for any traces of humor. There were none. He was serious. Unflinchingly honest in his desire to have you.
“Well, that’s not gonna happen. So you should probably go.”
You brushed off his words and moved past him and towards the entryway, ready to see him out. You didn’t get far. You made it to the other side of the island before a hand reached out for you and slammed you back against a firm chest. You gasped, unable to pull away as another hand attached to your other arm. They held you by your elbows, forcing your backside to press dangerously close to his front.
He’d moved quickly and without warning, nearly knocking you off your heels. You were both breathing heavy, both from the movement and the lust that threatened to spill over and bleed out all across your hardwood floors.
“You’re stubborn as shit.” Rio breathed into your ear, his grip tightening around your arms and forcing you to still.
“I’m smart.” You retorted, feeling yourself start to loosen in his hold. His chest was pressed tightly to your bare back, his crotch nestled almost perfectly against your ass. Your lower body shifted under the guise of pulling away, but you felt it. And so did he.
“Yeah, that too.” He whispered.
His face buried itself into your neck, lips covering the area with kisses. You arched into his touch, getting lost in the familiar sensations. His hands dropped from your arms and reached for the hem of your dress, pulling the fabric up your thighs.
It was happening again. The vortex that swallowed you up last time was back and it was making time simultaneously speed up and slow down. The outside world felt like it was at a stand still while you and Rio reintroduced your bodies to each other. The soft touches and gentle caresses morphed into hungry grasps and passionate clutches. His mouth worked over your neck and sucked, knowing exactly what that action did to you. You reached around and ran your nails over his scalp, feeling him shiver in response.
Your feet shuffled as he led you to your couch, pressing you into the back of it. You pushed your ass out and into him, feeling the length of him beyond your clothes. His hands tightened around your hips and then traveled under your dress. You gripped the cushions as he tore your panties away, the savagery of it making your thighs slide obnoxiously together. You moaned when his rough hands kneaded your ass, spreading the flesh to see what was waiting for him.
Through the fog your heard a distinct growl that reviberated from his chest and went straight to your throbbing sex, your walls desperately clenching around nothing. You bit your lip when you felt the head of him at your entrance, the heat from his flesh so overwhelming that your knees nearly buckled.
“Spread your legs, mama. Let me in.” He instructed, hand latching onto one of your shoulders for leverage.
You obeyed his command. You obeyed because that’s what you always did. You always ended up doing as he said. And that’s what scared you. Not the illegal shit or the risk of throwing your whole life away. It scared you with how complacent you could be to him. And you knew that eventually you’d give him the life he wanted from you.
A strangled moan fell from your lips as he began to push forward. He felt larger this way. Felt as if he could reach all the way into your chest if he wanted to. You pushed back for more when he teased you, sliding back out and refastening his hold on you.
In the next moment he was fully embedded inside of you, pulsing with such a need that you could do nothing but tighten around him. He appreciated the sentiment. You cried out in what sounded like agony, but was in fact an unbearable amount of pleasure that felt nearly spiritual.
His hips slammed into yours with wild abandon. You steadied yourself along the couch, feeling the piece of furniture slide across the floor with every thrust. In this position he had full access to you, and he utilized it. He roamed your body freely and without permission, making you beg for more. You couldn’t see him. And that was just fine because you could feel him. You could feel every hard line and groove. Every brush of his fingertips and bruising kiss. You could feel it all.
“Fuck...I-,” You gasped as you circled your clit, feeling him hit so deep that you were forced onto your tiptoes in your heels. “I’m gonna cum.”
Your confession earned harder, slower strokes. They made you see stars. And within seconds your entire body was spasming with waves of pleasure akin to electrical shocks. The force of it was almost painful. Sounds that you didn’t recognize flew past your lips as you trapped him inside of you and rode out the blissful high.
His hand moved from your shoulder to the back of your head, readying himself for his own release. You went limp after such a powerful climax and he took that as his cue to continue. His pace was forceful, low grunts permeating the air as he fucked into you. His fingers dug into your thighs in that way that made you feel owned. You clenched your inner muscles around him, coaxing him further into euphoria’s waiting arms.
“Shit,” He hissed, his hips beginning to stutter as he finally came.
You accepted every thick drop that now coated your walls. You couldn’t describe the feeling of fullness you felt with his cum settling into your womb and his twitching length still nestled tightly against your walls. But for as wrong as everything else felt with Rio, this...this felt right.
His low chuckle broke the silence as he retreated from your body slowly. You missed the sensation almost immediately.
You stood on shaky legs and pulled your dress down, seeing the shredded lace that had been your panties in a pile near your feet. You kicked off your heels, a relieved sigh leaving your lips at the action.
“I’m gonna be gone for a bit.” Rio announced suddenly, reaching up to lazily scratch at the facial hair that lined his jaw. He’d redressed, now looking like a poised professional and not someone who’d just cum inside you.
Mild panic seized your chest, but you schooled your features, attempting to play it cool.
“Gotta get back to your other life?” You retorted, choosing to be a smart ass rather than show any real concern for the man who’d just fucked you in another area in your home. Another space where your family gathered desecrated by your sins.
“Nah, this is it for me, darling.” He said with a shake of his head and lick of his lips. “Just gotta handle some things.”
“That’s not vague at all.”
He stepped to you, once again pressing you into the couch. Only this time you were facing him, breathing in the same whiskey-tinted air as he invaded your space.
“You know what your problem is?” He rasped, voice rough enough to send a tingle down your spine.
“You.” You jabbed. The liquor was working. Your lips were loosened and your attitude was running the show. You’d be lucky if Rio decided to ignore your childish behavior.
He angled your chin up to him, leaning in as if he was going to kiss you. He hadn’t yet that evening. And you found yourself yearning for it. His fingers slid over your lips and trailed down your neck, gently grasping your throat. He didn’t apply pressure, but the innuendo was there. It thrilled you in a way you hadn’t been expecting.
“You worry too much.” He said, eyeing your lips the entire time.
You licked them in response, having nothing to say for once. He wasn't wrong.
“Everything stays the same. Mick will be at the drop-offs. He’ll stay close if you need anything.” He explained, his hand floating down your collarbone and over your breast to settle on your waist.
“And you?” You dared to ask, hoping he wouldn’t see your question as anything more than a professional query.
“Like I said, I got some things to handle. I’ll be in touch.” He deflected. “And don’t miss me too much, yeah?” He said with a charming smile, choosing to grip your hip and squeeze.
You scoffed at his words, crossing your arms and watching him leave without another word. You tried not to let the new information he’d shared bother you. He didn’t say how long he’d be away, but you had a feeling it was going to be for more than a few days.
The notion made you uneasy.
While Rio’s presence unnerved you, his looming absence made a lump form in your throat. You didn’t have the energy to analyze what that meant. It was going to be back to business. And in a way you were grateful for the reset. He’d come back and things would go back to an employee-boss relationship. Back to normal.
Right?

Little Fire Plume (Pt.1?)
Tumblr media
Gender Neutral Reader, Diluc x Child!Reader (PLATONIC)
(First time posting on PC and writing about Diluc go easy on me)
You don’t exactly remember how you ended up with Mondstadt’s best bachelor as your father. He never really told you, and when you asked, he always responded with “When you’re older and more mature, I’ll tell you.”
That response always made you wanna grow up faster so you could finally understand how he found you.
Honestly, the most you even know about your adoptive father is that he owns some tycoon, is rich enough to own a manor and have maids, works really hard, and has a brother. (Though from the maids description of his brother...they seem to not really share any physical resemblances..)
Sometimes you ask about his brother, or your uncle, and he’ll tell you a bit about him!
Other times when he’s busy though, he’ll quickly direct you to the maids for answers. Not that he doesn’t want to talk to you! He much rather be playing with and entertaining you than doing this paperwork for wine crate orders.
The farthest back you can go with your memories of Diluc is 4 years ago, when he first found you, you think at least.
You’ve listened to maids murmur and whisper about how Diluc came rushing into the manor with you in his arms, soaked head to toe in the rain! Both of you caught a cold, but Diluc made sure to take care of you as soon as he recovered. (Which was before you.)
Growing up, it was obvious how protective he was of you, but he also made sure he was more careful with his entire ‘Darknight Hero’ business. He was determined not to end up like his father and leave you alone again.
Though, he knew you were still a child who had a social need that would require talking to other children instead of being surrounded by adults. Though even then he was careful.
The only other child you spoke to was Klee, but even then her finding out about you was an accident. When Diluc found out you were meeting each other, he made Klee promise not to tell anyone about you yet, until he was ready to talk about you.
.
.
.
So guess how they found out about you.
Klee was playing with Albedo making a gift for you, and accidentally brought you up.
“I gotta make sure that this is perfect for (Y/N)!”
“..who?”
“(Y/N)! Mister Diluc’s kid! They’re suuuper nice, and haven’t met any other kids beside me, so they always get ready excited to play and-...I wasn’t supposed to tell you guys yet...”
“Don’t worry about it, Klee..”
So the next day when Diluc is working a shift, Albedo, Kaeya, and Jean are all at the bar, just watching Diluc.
“...Are you here to order, or take spaces from other customers?”
“(Y/N)?” Kaeya chimed with a smug face. Diluc immediately froze up and Albedo grinned ever so slightly.
“Ahem...Klee brought it up to Albedo by mistake...we merely would like to meet them, is all.” Jean chimed in.
After a long while of convincing, Diluc allowed them to come to the manor to see you, mostly because he refused to walk around Mondstadt with a child and watch rumors spread like wildfire.
The moment you heard the door open, you instantly thought it was your father, only to be greeted by who you we’re pretty sure was your uncle Kaeya. Diluc soon pushed past him and Jean and Albedo followed shortly behind him.
Unsure of who the two blondes were, you quickly ran to Diluc and climbed into his arms. “...Papa...who are they?” You whispered quietly to him, as Jean seemed to have fallen in love with you at first sight.
“(Y/N), meet Jean, Albedo, and Kaeya. You three, this is (Y/N), my child.” Diluc said, and the moment he gestured towards Kaeya, you leaped out of his arms and ran to hug Kaeya’s leg.
“Uncle Kaeya! Papa told me about you! The maids too! They always tell me about you when you were a knight, and about grandpa too!” Kaeya swore he was going to tear up, mostly out of happiness, but knowing that Diluc didn’t completely block him out of his child’s life made him happy.
After a few hours of enjoying the others company, it was time for bed, and time for them to leave.
Nights with your father vary depending on if he’s worked himself to sleeping at his desk or not.
On nights when he does, the maids, or maybe even Kaeya carry him back to his room. (Kaeya was only there to play with you while Diluc works.)
Though on most nights, Diluc manages how longs he’s worked for your sake so you don’t feel like you’re being neglected while he works.
On those nights, Diluc bathes you, dresses you for bed, and either reads you to sleep or just talks to you until you get bored.
(You being in your room or his depends on how clingy you are, or how good you are at persuading him into letting you in his bed to sleep.)
On the nights where Diluc has overworked, the maids or Kaeya take care of you, and take you to bed. Which usually ends up in you sneaking into his bed in the middle of the night.
On the rare nights where Kaeya was present to play with you, he might check up on the both of you while you sleep, and smile to himself seeing the both of you.
Even if you can’t physically protect Diluc, your presence has helped enough. He can tell Diluc is happier than he has been in a long time. Kaeya thanks you for that, and hopes to repay you one day.
This is my first actual post on this account and I’m proud of myself. Idk the work count though lol.

Jackady: The importance of the father-son hug scene
One of my favorite Adrien-Gabriel moments to this day is still the ending scene of "Jackady" but I have seen more confusion for it than clarity in the Fandom so here is my analysis on it for why I love it so much. Because as the seasons go by this moment sustaines so much more significance that I simply HAVE to talk about it!
Tumblr media
While it isn't the only Adrien-Gabriel scene that does it, I adore this scene because it shows perfectly that in the beginning their little, broken family could have made it out of this tragedy stronger and maybe even better but the reality that Adrien and Gabriel are also Chat Noir and Hawkmoth not only hinders those chances, it actively drives them further apart into destruction
Maybe one day I'll give all my thoughts to the entire scene and just go on a rambling post about it (because I love EVERYTHING about this scene) but for now, let's just focus on the main aspects that really sell it to me.
I give Gabriel alot of shit on my blog for obvious reasons. I refuse to generally give him the same positive and conciderate treatment as Adrien, Marinette and the other kid characters because unlike them HE is an adult, a father and the villain of the show. The adult and villain part I'm not taking too personal because those are "just" the traditional aspects of his character type. But what is incredibly unique about him is the fact that even if he is this evil villain type he still gets to be the realistic type of abusive and (truly) bad father with sympathetic moments like this:
Tumblr media
This moment of shock and fear is not something you would normally see in a family cartoon from an evil parental figure the child longs to bond with without setting the parent up for redemption. But as we now know by s3, Gabriel is only getting increasingly worse and more abusive and Adrien is starting to let go of his father to move on without him and defying his will. It's quite clear now that their future will not be anywhere near good, "Chat Blanc" showed us what's to come.
And this is exactly why I love this scene. Because, yes, this family will go up in flames and never truly reconcile ever again (Gabriel went WAY too far for that in the way he abuses/will abuse Adrien) but the show doesn't shy away from showing us the transitional phase in between which really not alot of media dares to. Normally when they stay enemies or their situation doesn't end in an at least somewhat forgiving way this transition is simply mostly skipped to not having to let the bad parent have realistic and sympathetic moments in their downfall into madness/villainy (especially with their victim).
Miraculous does and it's beautifully tragic because you can just... SEE the situation unfold and understand where the eventual fate of the family comes from.
The pure misunderstanding between these two in this scene, the way they just talk RIGHT PAST each other because the other one can not understand the problem cuz they don't know the secret identity of the other one is... brutal!
This moment here could have worked for them. It could have been a genuine step forward in their relationship and saved their family but it got completely CRUSHED by their secret identities as Chat Noir and Hawkmoth.
Let me show you what I mean:
Tumblr media
THIS is a moment I AM giving Gabriel genuine credit for, because you can turn it any way you want it won't change the fact that, for his situation, THIS was the right question to ask his son. But at the same time it's just such a... horrible thing to say here oh my GOD.
And that's the ugly, UGLY beauty here.
If Gabriel weren't Hawkmoth (if someone else were Hawkmoth so the situation would still have happened) he would not have reacted to the fucking ring. He would have thought nothing of it and had remained focused on Adrien, because that was his original intention (problematically executed but that's beside the point now).
After Gabriel got himself in life threatening danger because he didn't listen to Adriens concerns, he went to him to hug him as apology. THIS is Gabriels way of apologizing and trying to make up for his faults. He's obviously not good at verbalizing his feelings properly and at normal interpersonal dynamics in general. So what he does is trying to make his feelings known in a... "material/physical" way. This does not only show through Gabriel just buying the best things for Adrien without ever being there for him, it also shows in the way he physically interacts with his loved ones when he genuinely wants to show his love. Because for how seriously antisocial and unreachable as he normally is, he also gets... quite touchy.
The shoulder touch thing Adrien does as well to show his affection for someone, him hugging Adrien both times he got a wake up call and literally everything thats happening between him and Natalie at this point lol.
Him hugging Adrien here is just as much of a big deal as Adriens expressions make it seem to be
Tumblr media
But the father-son moment couldn't last because the villain-hero alter egos interfered. Gabriel being Hawkmoth rightfully stopped the moment here, because reacting to even the slightest chance of your own child being the hero you try to destroy is undoubtedly the right way to handle this (even if the way he did it wasn’t ideal, that's not something I would expect from any character in that situation), but nevertheless it still utterly crushed the moment.
Cuz just because it is the right thing for HAWKMOTH to ask his son Adrien who he fears COULD be Chat Noir, doesn't it mean that it is anywhere close to okay for Adrien/Chat Noir to hear this very question in that moment from his father who he thinks as a normal civilian in this.
And Adriens expression once again makes this perfectly clear
Tumblr media
(You know the offense just reached an other dimension when the kid, who is already well aware and used to their fathers emotionally painful ways, makes a face like THAT)
Cause here is the thing. We all know by now that Adrien has some serious self esteem issues and that while he tries to over play it (especially as Chat) he just doesn't hold himself in high regards or even likes himself very much. Hence why he goes all out on the acting as Chat Noir and doesn't defend himself much.
But just because he doesn't like himself that much doesn't it mean he still doesn't want that very validation and appreciation from his father. Just like all of us and everyone on earth, Adrien wants to be loved for himself, even if he doesn't/can't do it himself. Thats normal and is something that can deeply damage you when you don't get it from your own parent/s.
So tell me, do you see why Adrien was so CRUSHED when in probably the first time since his mother's disappearance Gabriel gave him the genuine and all present love he wanted for so long, just for Gabriel to cut their moment short and FOCUSE ON THE RING?
The one thing on Adrien that makes him become "someone else" so he can escape from having to be himself for a bit.
And for Adrien it now seems like that in his own fathers eyes this ONE thing Gabriel shouldn't even know could be anything special about if he weren't Hawkmoth, is the ONLY thing worth noticing about his own son so it catches his eyes.
It tells Adrien right to the face that nothing Adrien was and did to make his father happy up to this point measured up with Gabriels expectations. All of Adriens efforts, his patience and his hopes of earning his fathers love and happiness if he only does well enough, literally in vain. It wasn't enough. It's wasn't enough for Gabriel to notice in comparison to the ring apperently.
From Adriens view you can interpret it two ways:
1. Since earlier Gabriel also took a closer look at Chat Noirs ring Adrien now thinks correctly that his father is seeing his new ring as a sign that he could be Chat Noir. This would mean that in Adriens eyes Gabriel would have cut their moment, an action of validation and love Adrien has longed, worked and patiently waited for so LONG, short and basically forgot all about Adrien himself because there is a SLIGHT possibility that Adriens ring means he COULD be Chat Noir. His own father literally choosing his secret identity over his civilian one as Adrien, the son Gabriel had for 14 years, is beyond crushing. And while it seems strange for Adrien to take offense in this because, well, he IS Chat Noir so what the big deal? The big deal here is, again, that as Chat Adrien is literally trying NOT to be himself. He uses the opportunity of being an anonymous hero to escape from having to be Adrien Agreste in every way he can. Gabriel throwing aside the son who is literally standing in front of him and who did his darn best to be there for him in his own time of grieving his mother to basically only focus on Chat Noir (a person Gabriel in the end of the day shouldn't and doesn't know) possibly being his son, is such a fucked up scenario to throw onto Adriens already low self esteem what the actual fuck.
Or 2. That Adrien simply takes his father choosing to focus on his "simple" new ring out of all things as a clear "I see nothing else worth noticing in you, so to keep this conversation up I have to grasp at straws so I guess I'll be taking about your new ring".
No matter how one chooses to interpret the moment, it's equally as much of a "fuck you" either way. I know Gabriel could have said worse here, but honestly, the list isn't that long.
So when after this Adrien reacts like this:
Tumblr media
It should really not come by any surprise. Although, no, it is kind of surprising. Surprising that Adrien didn't react alot worse than this. What Gabriel just threw at him is like the verbal equivalent of a loved one reaching out for you with a hand so they can caress your cheek but the moment you lean in they follow it up with a punch to the face.
It shows just how well Adrien has his emotions under control and is able to stay level headed under such great offense that THIS is the level of irrationality and anger he expresses after basically being out right disregarded by his own father (which should be of no surprise either, as Chat Noir Adrien has to put up with a whole lot of disrespect as well and there he for literally 95% of the time has to shrug it off as well).
But no matter how bad Gabriels line here was, it has nothing and I mean NOTHING on the awful way Gabriel then decides to react to Adriens appropriate but still very mild response.
Tumblr media
Because THIS is the moment that sets up Gabriels betrayal and downfall as both a person and especially as a father. Up to this point Gabriel was a horrible person as well, no question. The entirety of s1 he already worked as Hawkmoth, manipulating people, putting them in great danger and planning the demise of two teenagers with sadistic glee. But still one has to acknowledge the difference in these two situations.
In one Gabriel is hiding in a secret lair, manipulating people he thinks beneath him to do the dirty work for him and fight two anonymous heros he just wants to get rid of to reach his goal. Gabriel is taking so much pleasure out of terrorizing Paris and it's people because he legitimately doesn't give a single fuck about them or holds any kind of personal connection to them either. He never goes outside and is very antisocial so these people and their city mean nothing to him because they ARE nothing to him. His (self chosen) isolation and lifestyle pretty much disconnected Gabriel from real life and a normal way of expressing and receiving human emotions. So when there are no emotional stakes for him personally, he sees no reason to not satisfy his villainous desires as Hawkmoth.
Tumblr media
So as odd as it may seem to say, him terrorizing Paris prior to this is not the point of crossing the line for his character. For that it's simply to impersonal.
No, the point of crossing the line happens here with Adrien. With Gabriels character things will always come back to Adrien at its core. Adrien (not Emilie, Natalie or anyone else) is the person Gabriel temporarily truly gave up being Hawkmoth for and Adrien is the one person Gabriel has his most human moments with. Not even in his bonding moments with Natalie does he show the same deep and true (misguided) love and affection as he gets to with Adrien in those rare moments (its close no doubt but something about Gabenath is not as deep and true as this father-son pair and I can't imagine it ever will).
This marks the point of no return for Gabriel because it's the first time he chose to deliberately abandon Adrien in the crossfire and decides to be the villain towards him instead of staying there to talk things out with him. It's the first time Adrien truly had Hawkmoth as his father. And Hawkmoth is Chat Noirs ememy so Gabriel fell into that role without Adrien knowing why.
And there is a solid reason for that.
Tumblr media
One of the best things of this show is that no matter how horrible things get between these two, things are always much more complicated than a simple "evil father doesn't love his good son" situation. Gabriel calls Adrien "the image of perfection" in this very episode, that's sure as hell not hate or dislike in any way. That's love, that's adoration. This man ADORES his son. And this is were the deep rooted problem lies.
Gabriel loves and adores his SON. The ideal and perfectly perfect son Adrien could become when Gabriel is done forming him into it by suffocating any "imperfections" with an iron fist. It's just that these "imperfections" are always the characteristics that make Adrien ADRIEN. Gabriel may truly love his son but I'm not even sure if Gabriel even so much as LIKES Adrien himself.
And this is perfectly showcased by Gabriel turning away from Adrien in this very scene here.
Because even though Gabriel literally disrespected, shut down and belittled his son for the entire episode he still came to see and hug his Adrien afterwards because he loves him. But HIS Adrien, the perfectly perfect Adrien Gabriel wants him to be, wasn't the Adrien he met up with in his sons room. Instead he got an Adrien with a ring on his hand that could be Chat Noirs, making him possibly one of the two enemies he's trying to destroy.
Adding salt to the "wound" Adrien even backtalks him in a way that undoubtedly reminded him of Chat as well since Gabriel pointed out Chats temper in this very episode.
Tumblr media
So Gabriel was very directly confronted with the possibility that Adrien could INDEED be Chat Noir and that naturally comes with the implications that Adrien deliberately disobeyed Gabriels orders accepting that ring, sabotaging Gabriel reaching his goal and in general doing everything his father DOESN'T want him to do BY CHOICE.
And here Gabriel made the decision that marks the point of no return, setting up the devastatingly horrible way this man is treating and will treat his son in the future.
Tumblr media
Because this is the moment Gabriel SHOULD have chosen Adrien over his mission. The sheer possibility, no scratch that, even the SLIGHTEST TRACE of a possibility of Adrien being Chat Noir should have immediately made Gabriel take action to save and protect him. Because it's not like Chat hasn't been constantly in dangerous, life threatening or even situations that ended up in DEATH. If Gabriel would truly love ADRIEN his quest would have ended right here, stopping the upcoming horror this family will face before it could have really begun (hence why this was shown to us in an episode of s1, the season where Hawkmoths identity was still unknown. If Gabriel had stopped here not even WE would have known, leaving Gabriels name untainted of Hawkmoths crimes as the Agreste family finally moves on and Hawkmoth dissappeares as suddenly as he appeared.)
because Adrien and his health and life should not be a price Gabriel is willing to risk paying for his goal.
But Gabriel didn't do that.
Because instead of Adrien Gabriel chose the potential perfectly perfect son he wants and turned his back on the one standing right in front of him. Cuz remember what Gabriels goal IS. He wants to change the past, so non of this ever happened in the first place.
Meaning Gabriel turning his back on our present Adrien doesn't mean that Gabriel outright hates Adrien now by the next second cuz he dared to disobey his orders like that. But it means that Gabriel is choosing to separate these two Adriens in his mind, making endangering, hurting and working against THIS Adrien more of a collateral damage than actually hurting his own son. THAT son, the one Gabriel convinces himself he is fighting for, is waiting for him in the past alongside Emilie.
Tumblr media
This separation was probably always there since Gabriel started trying to change the past hence why he justifies Adriens unhappiness and the way he abandones him as necessary sacrifices.
But the real separation started HERE, this marks the first time Gabriel just left Adrien behind in a position of complete and deliberate endangerment, knowing that the possibility of Adrien being Chat is still there but choosing to say: "if he indeed is, then that's an obstacle I will have to overcome."
This separation has been developing slowly but steadily through s2 and 3 right to "Chat Blanc" which tells us the future. Me elaborating on this "separation development" though became longer than I want to put in this post, therefore I will go into more depth about it another time.
So let me continue with this:
Tumblr media
Adrien is like... Genuinely not even angry. More deeply sad.
He was appropriately and truly hurt when Gabriel only started talking about the ring but once Gabriel turns around and walks away? He looks after his father but more in a way as if he is waiting to see if Gabriel would actually take so much offense in him backtalking him to legitimately LEAVE like this. And Gabriel does.
Adriens intentions wasnt to make his father leave, When he talked back at him it was more of a hurt call out for Gabriel to say more, SOMETHING ELSE, but not to LEAVE!
Adrien then does something very common for people in a fight who wait for the leaving person to turn around again but have to realize that they hope in vain and the other person actually is done with this moment.
His face and body relaxes, he turns completely to the door and seems to... take it in.
Especially in the way Adrien does it here its like he is processing and accepting that what he thought of his father was wrong. Adrien thought Gabriel cared enough for him that he would want to stay even if he backtalks him for example. Adrien expected a conversation here but now had to realize that his father isn't gonna put up with him at all or their differences in an upfront way if Adrien isn't "behaving right". Gabriel will just cut the moment short and deflect whatever conversation with him he doesn't like.
All in all what Adrien took away from this moment with his father is even if Gabriel may care for him (enough to come and hug him as an apology) this care and affection is tightly bound to the way Adrien himself then reacts. If he reacts in a way Gabriel doesn't like he will very quickly deem Adrien undeserving of his affection and take it (and his entire presence) away again.
Tumblr media
The way Adrien looks then at his ring also makes me think that he definitely blames himself for how this moment ended. That he "shouldn't have overreacted" and taken such personal offense by his fathers attempt to reconnect with him even if Gabriel hit one hell of a sore point.
This is of course BS. Even if Adrien wasn't Chat Noir the way Gabriel just straight up deflected the conversation to the ring right after the hug, where one normally starts to explain oneself and truly TALK, would have been seriously hurtful even under non-miraculous circumstances.
But it shows how Adrien by instinct immediately starts to invalidate his own feelings to look for the faults in himself. A self-hurtful coping mechanism that unfortunately only gets deepened as the dynamic between these two continues on.
Tumblr media
And lastly it also marks the first time that the ring is truly associated with something bad. Normally (especially so early in the show) the ring stands in association with Adriens freedom and spending more time with people outside, him getting to let loose a little and how he can spend time with the girl he loves. The ring began to loose these positive associations more and more from s2 onward but the first time was here.
It's the object which ruined the moment that could have ended this tragedy before it truly began in both of their eyes and in the viewers. Sure Gabriel being Hawkmoth is the true cause of it and nothing will ever change that but it's Adriens ring, not Gabriels brooch, that sets their separation further in motion. Further as Gabriel initially intended to.
It's the factor Gabriel overlooks Adrien himself for, which is truly brought home by the end scene of "Gorizilla" which serves as a mirror to this one here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Whereas in "Jackady" Gabriel lost sight of the son right in front of him because of the ring and what its implies, in "Gorizilla" Gabriel thinks he finally received the evidence that Adrien isn't his enemy. So for the first time Gabriel completely disregards the ring, Chat Noir out of his mind, sees ADRIEN for himself and genuinely smiles at him. He can and does make a TRUE attempt at reconnecting!
Tumblr media
Which is of course exactly what Adrien wanted for so long, what he hoped Gabriel would do if hes just patient enough with his father. He accepts Gabriels genuine attempt gladly, reassuring his father that he and his efforts are noticed, appreciated and wanted even after everything that happened so they can hopefully go on to a better future.
Tumblr media
This is what would have saved this family back in "Jackady" if only Gabriel had chosen the right priority. But as I said before, this moment here happens in s2 after Gabriel crossed the line in Jackady, so this positiv moment can not save them anymore. Both Gabriel and Adrien are already too far in and influenced by their alter egos and the miraculous. So the brief reconnection couldn't last and everything continues to only further fall apart ever since.
And it all began with this beautiful, heartbreaking and tragic moment in "Jackady" these two will never ever be able to truly come back from again.

Tumblr media
In your years of young adulthood and college parties where the smell of sweat and alcohol lingered in the air, you had never once come across a drunk person like Soonyoung.
He had started drinking or pregaming as he put it, since two. It was now almost twelve in the morning, he was god knows how many drinks in and possibly the most annoying person you could ever encounter.
“Hoshi get the fuck off me.” You groaned in your equally as drunk state and tried to push him off. You weren’t sure how many drinks you had downed since you had joined in on his pregaming, but you knew for a fact that you were in a far better state than your best friend. At least you weren’t trying to kiss everybody and anything.
“Give me a kiss please.” He whined puckering his lips and bringing his face close to yours. You yelled and tried to push his face away but atlas your efforts had been deemed as unsuccessful when he managed to plant a wet disappointing tequila filled kiss against your cheek. “That was the worst kiss ever!” He protested, looking at you through his eyelashes as he circled his arms around your waist.
“Then go kiss someone else Soonyoung.” Your voice was laced with anger. Your tone falling upon deaf years as he rested his check against your shoulder. As much as you tried to pry him off, you couldn’t because his hold on your body would only get tighter.
“Everyone here has sucky lips, I like yours.” He said lowly and if it weren’t for the fact that Seungcheol had rudely cut off Seungkwan’s third attempt of the same song he had been drunkly singing for the past fifteen minutes; you wouldn’t have heard him. But you did and you couldn’t deny the way your heart had started to race. “Also don’t call me by my full name it makes me feel like your mom, and you’re not.” He finished and raised his head. His glistening eyes met yours and they quickly traveled down to your lips before he sighed and unraveled his body from yours. He sat up again, his back hitting the extremely uncomfortable grey couch, crossing his arms in front of him like a child. He acted like what he had just said wasn’t revolutionary and just the obvious when in reality you were losing your shit on the inside.
“What am I to you then?” The question traveled through your closed lips faster than you could stop it. You mentally wanted to slap yourself for asking such an obvious question.
The two of you were friends, had been friends since middle school and had surprisingly kept in touch in high school, until graduation. The summer before your freshman year of college you had lost touch and you assumed it was simply because life was changing faster than you could process it that there wasn’t enough time to keep a friendship that could’ve blossomed into something more. In all honesty it was a surprise when you had walked into your University cafe for the first time one morning during your second semester of your college, that you recognized the cute cashier everyone had been gossiping about for weeks now.
The look on his face when he saw you was priceless, the exitement radiating off his body as he tried to patiently take your order. His questions about everything he had unfortunately missed, without giving you enough time to answer. He had paid for your coffee using his employee discount to apologize for not reaching out sooner. Your friendship picking up right where it left off like nothing had happened, except for the fact that your feelings for him never managed to go away.
“You’re my best friend of course.” He threw his head back and sank further into the couch. His confession hitting you a lot more differently now that you were possibly drunk out of your mind. “But I want us to be something more. Only if you want to of course I don’t want to do things you’re uncomfortable with especially because I know that you don’t have feelings for and like Min-”
His long meaningless speech was cut off by your lips as you kissed him swallowing his words. Soonyoung had never once been caught off guard in his twenty four years of life, but there was always a first time for everything. He let himself relax and closed his eyes, relished in the way your lips felt against his and finally kissed you back. It was slow at first and with a lot of caution until he realized that you weren’t going to pull away any time soon and kissed you back harder with ferocity that could only be blamed on years of secretly pining after you.
The wolf whistles around them started along with an old slow song that he was sure his father had once played for his mom after a fight, asking for forgiveness.
Your arms snaked up his body and hooked around his neck only pulling him close and his hands found present against your waist. Finally, after sensing your lack of air, you pulled away. Soonyoung’s smug face resembling the red solo cups his drinks had once been in.
“Sometimes you talk to much.” You whispered and placed a chaste kiss against his parted lips before pulling away and standing. Soonyoung groaned his arms slumping down at his side, his body going into what he had once read could be withdraw as he was already missing your touch. The same touch he had gone years without experiencing.
Love was a dangerous, he concluded.
“Come on baby boy, I don’t think I want audience for what I really want to do to you now.” You leaned over grabbing his hands that were openly resting against his jean cladded thighs and pulled him. He stumbled as he tried to come to terms what you had just confessed. He could feel the exhaustion form earlier being webed away as you guided him away from prying eyes and down the hallway that led to the rooms.
“Wait are we going to do more than kiss?” He stupidly asked when you opened a vacant room and guided him inside. You shut the door, locking it before pressing your body against his,
“Only if you want.” You toyed with the buttons of his hidious tiger printed shirt, patiently waiting for his go ahead. He threw his head back mumbling out a prayer before locking his lust filled eyes with yours.
“God, I don’t think I could say no, I’ve only dreamt of this day a couple hundred times and now that its here, I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else but underneath you.”

I’ll Be Seeing You - B. Barnes
Summary: In which the reader was in WW2 with Steve and Bucky, and she and Steve realize that Bucky is still alive during the fight on the bridge.
Warnings: Fight scenes, Angst.
A/N: I am absolutely terrible at summaries but this has been floating around in my head for so long and I finally finished writing it. I set it up so that there could be a Part 2 if people like it enough and want me to write one. I could definitely turn this into a series if I was motivated enough to do so lol.
Tumblr media
A ghost. That’s how Natasha had described him at the hospital, with a look of fear in her eyes that was rarely ever present on the former assassin.
Ghost was certainly a perfect way to describe him. He came out of nowhere, striking hard and fast, aiming to kill.
His face was completely concealed under a mask and a pair of black goggles, dark hair hanging loosely around his face. He wore a black tactical suit, the left sleeve missing in order to showcase a metal arm with a red star painted amongst the silver plates.
It was clear he had some form of the super soldier serum running through his veins, his strength and agility close to if not beating that of mine and Steve’s. He was a skilled fighter, each of his fluid movements calculated and thoroughly thought through. Each blow Steve and I dealt was dodged expertly, the assassin known as The Winter Soldier never missing a beat. Had it not been for the fact he was trying to kill us I would almost be in awe of the way he moved.
As my back collided with yet another parked car I sighed, taking the brief moment Steve had allowed me when he started another assault on the soldier to refill my lungs with the air that was just knocked out of me. Then I was back in it, striking the soldier from behind, in time with Steve’s blows at the front.
But the soldier was good, he was fast, and not nearly enough of my hits were actually landing. If they were ever landing at all.
It was when he turned to face me that I finally got the upper hand, using the momentum from his turn against him, I slammed my fist into the side of his head. The force was enough to send him stumbling back a few steps, and it caused his goggles to drop to the ground. His eyes met mine with a murderous glare and I felt my body still completely, my own eyes widening in both horror and recognition.
Tumblr media
I knew those eyes. A stormy mixture of blues and greys, colder than I had last seen them. But I knew them. I knew those eyes a lifetime ago, stared into them more times than I could count. Watched various emotions pass through them the longer I knew the person those eyes belonged to. They held little to no emotion now, just pure anger. A pain resting so deeply in his stare that you’d miss it if you didn’t know the person those eyes belonged to. But I did. I knew those eyes, and they held no recognition as they regarded my own covered face.
I wore the mask to help keep my private life private. To separate the Avenger from the person. It was bad enough when someone recognized me from the exhibit at the Smithsonian and had more questions than I had answers. The tech Tony had installed in the mask was also an added bonus, the assistance of Jarvis more than welcome in a fight. But right now, the mask felt like a mistake.
It felt like a barrier between me and the man who fell from that train all those years ago.
He had been dead for about 70 years. Him standing here in front of me was nearly impossible. But then again, Steve and I were both meant to be dead ourselves, and we both were standing here fighting with him now. He regarded me curiously, no doubt wondering why I had stopped fighting back, those familiar eyes taking in my relaxed stance and my arms hanging limply by my sides. He threw another punch and I could hear Jarvis’ voice in my ear reminding me that the fight wasn’t over yet and offering assistance if I needed it. I could hear Steve yelling in the background, voicing his concerns on why I was no longer fighting back. Steve was begging me to continue fighting back. But Steve hadn’t seen his eyes yet. He didn’t know.
The hits kept coming and as hard as Steve tried to fight him off of me, as loud as Steve’s shouts got for me to fight back. I couldn’t. The memories of eyes filled with hope and longing paralyzing me as my body hit the ground.
Tumblr media
I was running late, as usual. The briefing with Captain Rogers and the rest of the Howling Commandos once again running later than expected. We were meant to be going over the schematics of our mission for the next day, but everyone kept getting distracted by the news of the band the army was bringing in for tonight. An effort to raise the troops’ spirits. It was what everyone on the base was discussing, each of the soldiers trying to find a date for the night’s festivities. Peggy and I had already turned down several invitations from various desperate soldiers.
Every time Steve tried to bring the attention back to the mission, Dum Dum would bring up whether or not Steve planned on asking Peggy to be his date for tonight, and all of the guys would tease the captain as he blushed helplessly.
It was inevitable that he would ask her, that much was clear. But the guys just loved to ruffle our captain’s feathers, which would have been fine if I wasn’t meant to meet with Peggy and Howard an hour ago about about some new weapons for the mission tomorrow.
Seemingly noticing the annoyance on my face Steve’s turned to a look of recognition and he apologized for keeping me from my meeting with Peg and Stark, and dismissed me from the briefing.
I was about halfway to my destination when a familiar voice called out after me, stopping me in my tracks and causing me to roll my eyes in mock annoyance at the pet name he refused to stop using.
“Hey, Doll! Wait up!” Turning, I watched as Sergeant James Buchanan Barnes jogged towards me with a leather bound book gripped tightly in his left hand. My journal, I recognized.
“Don’t call me that,” I said softly, for what felt like the millionth time since we had met at that gym in our home town of Brooklyn all those years ago. He smiled at me, a mischievous glint in his eye since we were both more than aware he would only continue to call me that.
“You left this on the table, you were in such a hurry that you must’ve forgotten it.”
I take it from him with a small smile and a quiet thank you, and then continue to walk towards where I knew Peggy was waiting for me. No doubt thinking of all the ways she was about to murder me for being so late. I expected Bucky to go back to hangout with the other guys, but was surprised when he fell into step beside me, his hands resting in his pants pockets as we walked.
When the building came into view his left hand reached out and gently gripped onto my right arm, causing me to halt and turn to him.
He looked at me softly, a longing resting in his blue-grey eyes that I had seen numerous times before. A look that was shared between the two of us more times than I could count.
“Doll-”
“Don’t call me that.”
A laugh left his nose in a huff as the sides of his mouth raised in a smile, his eyes looking towards the winter sky before looking back to me.
“Y/N, I actually came looking for you because I wanted to ask ya something.” He started, his voice soft as he continued to look at me with those same eyes that I couldn’t help but feel myself get lost in.
“I thought you came to give me my journal?” Another laugh, and then his eyes once again focused on me.
“I was wondering if you’d be interested in going to see the band tonight?” His voice was nervous, his eyes full of hope and something I couldn’t quite place. I knew what he was asking. I was hoping he wouldn’t.
It’s not that I didn’t want to go with him. In any other scenario I would have said yes in a single heartbeat. However, this wasn’t any other scenario. I was the only woman in the Howling Commandos, the only woman on the front lines in the entire U.S army. Getting them to accept me even after Dr. Erskine gave me the serum was almost impossible. Every day that I am here I have to prove myself. I have to be better, stronger, faster. I didn’t need to show my true feelings for another soldier and have everyone use it as a means to try and get rid of me.
And if that wasn’t enough of a reason there was the obvious one. We were in a war. A war where people died constantly and there was nothing to do but keep fighting. I had already lost my father and three brothers to this war, my twin included. I refused to let myself get close to someone and then lose them too. Losing my twin brother almost killed me. And looking into Bucky’s eyes I knew that losing him would be more than I could handle.
Still, not being able to find the strength in my heart to turn him down directly I did what I always did. Deflected.
“I fully intend on going to the band tonight,” I stated in a matter of fact tone, my eyes betraying me when I had to look away from his stare.
“You know how I meant it, Doll.” His voice was soft, yet steady, and his gaze never once faltered as his blue orbs bore into mine.
“Don’t call me that,” I said meekly. My eyes cast completely at our boots in the snow now, not being able to find the strength to look at him any longer. All it did was make me falter in my reserve.
I heard him sigh, and then he said my name so softly I almost didn’t hear him. The softness in his voice cause my eyes to meet his, and his smile was kind, though it didn’t reach his eyes.
“At least save me a dance, Doll?”
I simply nodded my head slowly, words not coming to me in that moment. The way he was looking at me was causing my brain to malfunction, I was sure of it. I couldn’t go as his date, but what was the harm in one dance?
“I’ll see you tonight then, Doll.”
And then he was gone, leaving me alone with my thoughts before I turned around to see a smirking Peggy standing behind me, her arms crossed over her chest as she looked at me knowingly.
“Alright then, since you’ve managed to skip our meeting almost entirely I don’t see the point in trying to start it now. Stark will just have to explain things to you before your mission tomorrow. Now, we have a dance to go get ready for.”
I smiled at my friend thankfully, before the two of us made our way to our shared tent to try and find something in her closet to wear tonight.
By the time we finally walked into the large tent the band was playing in, the party was in full swing. Men and women were dancing and laughing gleefully, something that had become a rare sight in recent years. I couldn’t remember the last time I had been to something like this, or even had worn a dress.
Peggy had leant me a sea green number, with long sleeves and had what Peg called a “floaty A-line skirt” that came to just below my knees. It was possibly the most comfortable dress I had ever worn, which is what made me agree to keep it on even though I much rather would have put my trousers and boots back on. Peg had even done a little makeup on me, and it made me realize that I don’t think I’d ever worn makeup in my life.
“Y/L/N, You might finally give Barnes a heart attack tonight looking like that.” Dum Dum called from behind me, making me shake my head with a light laugh as I turned to my fellow Howling Commandos. They were all regarding me with curious looks, no doubt wondering how Peg got me to agree to wear this.
“Forget Barnes, I think I’m having one right now!” Morita clutched at his heart with a dreamy look on his face, causing Dum Dum to hit him on the back of his head with a laugh. I only chuckled at my friends’ antics.
Peggy went off to find Steve, and I found myself getting lost in the crowd searching for a familiar pair of blue eyes.
Dum Dum must have recognized what I was doing, because he only made a sound of disapproval before taking my hand and leading me over to the dance floor, guiding me in the steps to the dance that everyone here seemed to know but me.
"I thought you turned him down when he asked you to be his date?” Dum Dum asked me in between steps, and I rolled my eyes softly.
“I suppose I should have guessed he’d go back and tell you all of our conversation.”
“When are you gonna stop pushing him away and realize what everyone else already knows?” My friend asked me softly, knowing it was a touchy subject for me. Dum Dum knew full well why I was so reserved about admitting my feelings for a certain blue-eyed soldier. One night with a bottle of bourbon and the man had me confessing all of my greatest fears to him.
“Timothy, you know why I don’t.” The use of his first name caused the man to let out an additional sound of disapproval as he led me through the next part of the dance.
“Aren’t dames supposed to know how to dance? You step on my foot again and I might lose it!” He joked, my hand coming out to swat at his arm.
“Call me a dame again and you’ll lose more than just your foot!”
Over the course of the next few songs I found myself dancing with each one of the Howling Commandos, excluding Steve, who was dancing with Peg happily. Both wore big smiles, and the sight warmed my heart and made me question myself for a moment.
Peggy and Steve were clearly in love with one another, and it was clear that they would end up spending the rest of their lives together when this was all over. Their love for one another was so clear that everyone who took one look at them knew it, and no one thought of Peg as any less strong because of it. So why would it be any different for me?
My thought was cut off when the song ended and the male singer took a break, a woman taking the stage in a beautiful dress, the sparkles making her seemingly shine. The band started a new song, something much slower than the last few. I let go of Jim and thanked him for the dance, before excusing myself and heading for the exit.
We had an early mission in the morning. An important mission at that. We finally got a good lead on where Zola would be heading next, and were going to board the train and stop him before he could get to his next destination. If this mission was successful and we captured the scientist, it would give us a leg up on The Red Skull. A leg up that could possibly mean an end to this war.
I had just exited the tent when my body collided with another, nearly knocking me off my feet before a large pair of hands grabbed my forearms and stopped my body from colliding with the snow covered ground.

I went to apologize, but stopped when I looked up to see Bucky standing in front of me in his uniform, his hands still lightly grasping my arms. His smile overcame his entire face when he looked at me, and the sheer happiness in his eyes was enough to make my heart swell.
“All these years and I don’t think I’ve ever seen ya in a dress, Doll.” His tone was playful, yet warm, and in that moment I couldn’t find it within myself to argue with him about that name.
“You’re late.” I informed him softly, his hands now leaving me and causing a cold feeling to fill my body from the loss of contact. Though he didn’t pull away from me, and was still so close I could feel his breath on my face.
“Had some stuff to do before tomorrow, but I made sure to come down to dance with my best girl.”
Ignoring the fluttering in my chest I took a step away from him, reminding myself of why I couldn’t get close to him.
“I was just leaving-”
“Just one dance, Doll. You promised.” And before I could say anything Bucky took my hand in his, his right hand moving to my waist to hold me delicately, starting to sway us slightly to the new song that was just beginning to play.
I recognized the song. It was a soft one, with a pretty melody. I think the original singer’s name was Billie Holiday, but the woman on stage sang it just as beautifully. The words reaching something deep inside of me.
I'll be seeing you In all the old familiar places That this heart of mine embraces All day through
I wound my free hand around the back of his neck affectionately, bringing the two of us closer than we ever had been before. From this angle I could see every shade that nestled inside of his blue eyes, the colors swirling as he looked at me with that look in his eyes that I still couldn’t place. The look that set my skin on fire every time he looked at me like that.
In that small cafe The park across the way The children's carousel The chestnut trees The wishin' well
“Doll, there’s something that I’ve been wantin’ to tell ya for a while now,” He began. A nervousness setting in his eyes and mixing with that unknown feeling.
“What is it, Buck?” I asked, my voice in a near whisper. The nighttime air was cold, yet comforting as the soldier held me in his embrace, the band’s song wrapping around us as it floated through the air.
I'll be seeing you In every lovely summer's day In everything that's light and gay I'll always think of you that way
“You look absolutely stunning tonight, Doll.” He let out in a breath, his nervous eyes still focusing on mine.
“You’ve been wanting to tell me that I look stunning tonight for a while?” I joked lightly, causing him to laugh.
“No. Well not no, you do look stunning tonight. So stunning. Absolutely beautiful, not that you’re not beautiful all the time! I think you’re always beautiful, which kind of has to do with what I’ve been trying to tell you-”
I cut him off with a soft whisper of his name, not wanting him to finish his sentence because I didn’t have the strength to hear it and then have to walk away and pretend that I didn’t.
I'll find you In the morning sun And when the night is new I'll be looking at the moon But I'll be seeing you
“Buck, Please don’t.”
“I know that you’re scared, Doll. I know and I understand it, I do. I understand it because every time I look at you, I am so terrified of losing you. I know that things are tricky right now-”
“Things aren’t tricky, Buck! We are in the middle of a war. Either one of us could die at any time. We could die tomorrow, and I can’t lose you. That’s why you can’t finish your sentence, because there’s just too much we could lose if you do.”
“Doll, Y/N. Me not saying it won’t stop either of us from losing the other. Whether I say it now or don’t one of us could still die. And don’t you think it would be so much worse to lose each other without having told each other what we both already know?”
I'll be seeing you In every lovely summer's day In everything that's light and gay I'll always think of you that way
The song continued to play but we had stopped dancing by now, just desperately holding onto each other as Bucky’s words hung in the air.
“You are everything to me, Y/N. My light, my laughter. The reason I get out of bed every morning to face another day of this war is knowing that I get to do it beside you. I look at you and I forget every bad thing that’s happening. I look at you and I’m not in the middle of Siberia fighting a war that we might not win. I look at you and I’m back in Brooklyn, watching the cluelessly beautiful girl sweep around the gym just waiting until everyone leaves so she can start throwing punches at the bag. I look at you, Doll, and I’m home.”
By the end of his confession tears were lining my face, freezing against my skin as the cold Siberian night air brushed against them. His hands let go of me and instead came up to hold my face delicately, his thumbs reaching up to brush the tears away.
“I love you, Y/N. More than I’ve ever loved anybody else. More than someone can love another person. It fills me completely. Every ounce of my being is you. And I know that you’re scared. And I know that you probably won’t say it back to me because you’re the most stubborn person I have ever met in my life, and that’s okay. It’s okay if you can’t say it back right now. It’s okay because I know that you love me too, even if you can’t say it.”
He finally ends his confession with a lingering kiss to my forehead, pouring so much love into that one simple gesture, and then he lets me go. He gives me one last smile before telling me he’ll see me tomorrow, and turns back towards his tent.
I'll find you In the morning sun And when the night is new I'll be looking at the moon But I'll be seeing you
I’m shocked back to reality when this version of Bucky’s fist lands a hit so hard to my face that the metal of my mask cracks, finally making me have to take it off to avoid it slicing into my skin further.
The second the mask leaves my face his assaults stops coming. When I open my eyes he isn’t the winter soldier anymore. The look in his eyes is a mixture of hurt, anger, confusion, recognition, and that look I haven’t seen in nearly seventy years.
It’s clear that whatever Hydra’s done to him had jumbled his mind. If they hadn’t, he would have recognized Steve right away.
I lay motionless beneath him, not daring to make a move as his mind tries to process what’s going on. I can see the confrontation going on in his head as every emotion presents itself in his eyes.
Finally, he focuses back on me and removes the mask from where it covered his nose and mouth. Physically, he has barely aged in the last seventy years. But all the innocence that remained on his face then was completely absent now. His features hardened by heartache and death.
In the background I can hear Steve’s gasp as he finally realizes who we had been fighting and why I had stopped the moment I saw his eyes.
“Bucky?” Steve asks, drawing Bucky’s attention from me as he gets up and turns toward his once best friend.
“Who the hell is Bucky?”

And that’s it. I hope you like it <3
When Max turned nine, he reached the conclusion that everybody forgot their early years at some point. Before, Adrian had already explained to him that wasn’t quite true, because he misunderstood Max’s statement and thought he was feeling bad about himself for not being able to recall certain things. He told him that, unlike what he thought –which was false because that’s not what Max meant- people usually couldn’t store those memories from when they were younger than three.
“Some people do.” He said. “But it’s normal if you don’t remember anything from when you were…I don’t know. Two.”
“Do you remember anything from when you were two?” Max asked him.
From the other side of the glass, Adrian scrunched up his nose. And then, obviously, he saw himself in the need to adjust his glasses.
“I’m not quite sure whether I was two or not. But I do know I was younger than five.” He started. “There was a small canal on the way to the apartment. When it rained, it would grow a lot. It didn’t have big torrents or anything, but it did grow a lot. The water usually went higher than my ankles. But the thing was…that every time  it grew, it became infested with turtles.”
He paused for a second.
“I really liked turtles.” He continued, shrugging. “My mother used to let me walk down to the water, as long as she was right behind me, obviously; one day, when we were coming back from the city, she stopped to attend a call. I got too impatient and went down alone when she wasn’t looking. The next thing I remember is that, just when I was getting up after catching a turtle, I felt her tugging me by the back of my shirt. The turtle fell on its shell.”
At that point, Max realized he had been staring at how he kept on fidgeting with his pen instead of looking him in the eye, but he continued doing so, because he didn’t like it when Adrian’s voice turned that serious.
“…She had never screamed at me like that.” He said, as if he were talking to himself and then, to erase the tension, he tried to scoff. “I don’t remember what she said, but I remember that she said it so loud I told her she was scaring the turtle. Then I started crying. Like, a lot. I think she was terrified too.”
In the end, everything turned too quiet for his liking, and Max did something his dad had advised him to do for times like these, when he just didn’t know what came next: Improvise.
“I didn’t know you liked turtles.”
“…Well, I did. I really liked turtles when I was younger.”
Max had seen a couple of turtles in his life, but not as many as Adrian had seen, he supposed, because Max had never stepped outside, except when he was a baby.
Which was exactly the point.
He didn’t have memories from when he was a baby, or a toddler. Most of the people who had come to talk to him had said they remembered events that were either too sad (like Adrian) or meaningful in their lives. Max didn’t have anything like that. In fact, his first –very blurry- memory was standing on the edge of the quarantine, with his hands pressed against the crystal, and then licking it.
According to his dads, he was between three and four (“He was three, Simon. What are you talking about?” “He was born in November.” “It wasn’t November yet.” “We had just celebrated his birthday. He was four.” “HE WASN’T FOUR, SIMON! HE WAS THREE! THREE! We were celebrating that his quarantine had just been built!” “IT WAS THE SAME EVENT, HUGH!”) and Aunt Tamaya, plus the both of them, were in the hallway. For some reason, the fact that his eyes were so huge (they were still big. But they were bigger when he was a baby) came off as odd to Tamaya. And the moment they made eye contact, he licked the glass.
Nobody knew why. Not even himself. The adults remembered it better than he did, of course, but none of them had ever been able to guess the reasoning behind it. They often expressed Max had been a very strange baby, mostly because of his lack of social skills. It’s not like he had chosen that, and it’s not like his fathers would’ve allowed it to happen if they had had any other option. But Max wasn’t willing to stand there and pretend that he knew what he was doing, either.
Most of the time, he didn’t.
He barely held any memories of the nurses that had ever been in charge of his care, but, for obvious reasons, he remembered Dad. It was always easier to remember the person who had taken care of you the most, he supposed. And Max knew, among a lot of things, that it wasn’t his other dad’s fault. Though, sometimes, he couldn’t help but blame him.
Again, he didn’t know why, but there were those days, when he needed he the most, where a voice inside of his head told him that, if Simon loved him enough, he would just sacrifice his powers to be with him. His powers weren’t that useful for combat anyway.
“Okay, but that’s kinda mean.” Adrian told him the first time he opened up about it, the night before he attended the Trials to choose the members of his patrolling team. “Pops might not have combat powers, but they’re as important as the rest of the members’. That’s why they work so well as a team, you know? Every power can be extremely helpful during a battle, as long as you know how to use it.”
Max wasn’t doing anything in particular that day. Nothing besides listening to Adrian and sitting on the floor , at least.
“But if every power is useful…” He said, tilting his head to the side. “…Why are you allowed to reject certain aspirants?”
Adrian frowned a little, not in the sense that he looked angry at Max. Rather, he was confused by the question and was trying to word the answer in a way that sounded rational.
“Because…” He gulped and clicked his tongue. “…Like I said…uhm…the Council is an extremely good team. They’ve been doing this for a while. Us, the patrolling leaders are…allowed to reject certain prodigies because we don’t have as much experience as them. And…we might not know how to use somebody’s powers, and that’s very dangerous. We don’t want people dying, do we?”
When he said that, something clicked inside Max’s brain, and he nodded in automatic. Obviously, a few years ago, a non-prodigy teacher had taught him how to read, and the moment Adrian notified him it was his year to be in the Trials, he managed to read the manual and the rules for the event, from a booklet and a pamphlet (respectively) he had asked his dad to bring for him. He didn’t get much new information, different from the one he heard on TV or the one presented in the posters. However, amongst the rules, there was a section that talked about banned powers, which contained only two categories:
-Complete telekinesis.
-Stardust modelling.
“Yeah.” Dad told him. He was bathing him in the quarantine’s bathroom (Of course. Where else?). “Stardust catchers…which….are able to model stardust, are extremely dangerous and there’s not much research about them. Nobody really knows how they work, and it would be pretty difficult for us to… handle a prodigy like that.”
“Like me.”
Dad had always had a pretty specific routine he had to follow when bathing him. If he missed or misplaced a step, he acted like would explode or something. Also, Max didn’t understand why, but ever since he started growing thicker hair, Dad became pretty strict on the fact they should take care of it so it would grow healthy. Hence why they had a full hair routine that they did in the bathtub. That day, the statement caught him so off-guard he grabbed the wrong bottle, and then, when he realized it, he was already pouring the dense liquid (that looked more like a paste to him) on Max’s head. Cursing under his breath, he placed his other hand in the middle so it would fall over his palm, washed Max’s head and started the routine all over again, before changing the subject:
“About complete telekinesis…there’s obviously a lot of research about that power. We know how to manage with that. But telekinetic prodigies are not …very accepted in our society. They’re pointed at…Frowned upon. In the worst of cases, other prodigies hunt them down and then kill them.”
In that moment, Max came to the conclusion that all that changing the subject thing had been in vain.
Because, from his part, the answer was exactly the same:
“Like me.”
And Dad didn’t like that, for he started scratching his scalp harder, accidentally.
“No. It’s nothing like you.” He said. “You’re not like that, Max. Society hates telekinesis because some evil dude decided to use his powers, his telekinesis, for awful reasons and stained prodigy’s names. You’re not like that. You’re not abusive, or selfish or evil. And I don’t want to hear you comparing yourself to him ever again. Understood?”
To this day, that was the most aggressive form of validation someone had ever given him, but Max took it anyway, because he trusted Dad, and if he had said something like that, then there had to be a clear reason behind it.
“Understood.” He whispered.
And he tried, he really tried, to believe it. But, like many other things, no matter how hard Max tried, he was still severely confused. Not that he didn’t know about the Age of Anarchy, or the parties involved in the Age of Anarchy.
The quarantine, needless to say, could get pretty boring most of the time. Max had to do a lot of things to kill time, and some of those activities involved reading books that children shouldn’t be reading. He did read some children’s books, but then he would find himself looking through history articles and books, and reading the chapters that interested him the most. For instance, he was confident he knew about the Age of Anarchy, but one thing was knowing about it, and another, different thing, was having an opinion about in regards to it.
Max didn’t know if he had something to say about the topic. If he did, it was a very incomplete idea, and it was very likely he wouldn’t be able to phrase it correctly.
The group of people Max talked the most to were adults, and those adults, especially the ones who had experienced the Age of Anarchy and somehow managed to make it out alive, refused to talk about it. As for the few children he had talked to…
Well, about them…
Long story short, they had lives.
They all had lives outside of a glass, unlike Max. Maybe they weren’t the most interesting of lives, but at least they for sure had to be more interesting than his’. They didn’t have a pre-established schedule, where a designated person would come in to feed him or extract blood samples from his body, to then take them to the laboratory. They didn’t have to hear a total of seven alarms to remind him what he had to do: Wake up and get dressed, have breakfast and brush his teeth, enter the virtual sessions with his teachers, take a shower, have his blood samples taken,  start doing his homework –if he had any- and do whatever he wanted once he was finished, have dinner, brush his teeth and go to bed, and then start all over again.
That moment, when he had spare time, would be the same one normal kids used to go out with their friends, like Adrian did. To go to the park and get themselves a scarily huge wound at the center of their knee. To live. To breathe air. To do…literally anything that wasn’t this.
Because Max was different from the many children he hadn’t yet gotten the opportunity to meet or talk to, because, obviously, they wouldn’t want to spend the whole day hanging out with a person…like him.
The only way Max could see two out of the three people in his family was through a crystal wall. And he couldn’t kiss them, he couldn’t touch them… sometimes he even wondered if he knew how their voices sounded, because, after all, Dad’s voice sounded the tiniest bit different once he crossed that infamous glass door.
He couldn’t walk through the streets of Gatlon, because, for starters, he didn’t know them. And if he dared to go out there, he would get killed on spot for having accidentally neutralized a prodigy who didn’t want to be neutralized.
Other kids had nannies whom they complained about when their parents couldn’t look after them (at least that’s the kind of things he saw on the TV shows he watched) but Max had patrol units that would move from one corner of the room to another, ready to attack anyone who came closer than necessary to him, because the only one who could take care of him in person, was Hugh.
Other kids could go out freely, without being scared of anything at all. They could get hurt while having fun with their friends and family. They could laugh until they cried with them. They could hug them, sleep in the same bed as them. They could walk their pets, go on road trips, go to amusement stores, water parks…
They could experience the current world; watch all the new events that were happening every day, in first hand.
They didn’t have to read about the past, or the people from the past to keep themselves entertained. They didn’t have the need to do that. At all.
They were living the lives Max couldn’t have, because he was too dangerous for that.
And obviously, that’s why he couldn’t just…go around asking other kids about what was their favorite bug, their favorite planet…or their opinions about Ace Anarchy, and if Pops (Simon) saying “Alec, with an A as in Abusive Swine” made them laugh.
Besides, he hadn’t even met that many kids his age. Or kids, for that matter.
He was aware Adrian wasn’t exactly a grown up, but he wasn’t a kid either, so, he usually didn’t make it into that list.
In fact, just like the banned powers in that manual, there were only two kids in Max’s list of acquaintances.
Aunt Tamaya’s first baby was born without powers, when Max was like four years old, and his dads were way too excited about it (Weird thing to brag about out loud, honestly, because all the recruits in the Headquarters were betting ridiculous amounts of money on which powers the Thunderbaby would have –Max could hear them- and one day they just heard The Dread Warden storming into the hallway, euphorically screaming “GUESS WHAT, MY LITTLE CHERUB BABY? YOUR COUSIN IS ABSOLUTELY FREAKING POWERLESS!”), for they thought Max would finally be able to have a friend who was more or less his age. Dad was the one who brought him in, two weeks after he was born. He was still tiny, red and chubby, and wrapped in his three different blankets that way, he looked like a bloated marshmallow.
Aunt Tamaya, her husband, Pops, Adrian, Aunt Kasumi and Uncle Evander were outside (as always) waiting to see what happened…and, it was extremely odd for Max to admit it, but he couldn’t remember much about that moment, even though he was already older than three. There was, however, a video taken by Uncle Evander where, if you narrowed your eyes hard enough, you could see the moment Max burst into tears right after kissing the baby’s cheek.
Neil was his friend.
At least, Max considered him to be his friend. Still, they had an age gap of four whole years, and a part of him was waiting until he was a little older so they could be on the same page. Because sometimes, when Neil couldn’t comprehend something semi-important that Max had just said, things could get pretty awkward, because there were occasions when, if Neil got too frustrated over anything, he would start crying, and his sobs often summoned his mother all the way from across the building. She never particularly tried to put the blame on Max. In fact, she hadn’t even glared at him not once, ever.
But she did choose to take him with her, into her office, or ask Adrian to babysit him while he calmed down.  Afterwards, he usually didn’t come back to the quarantine.
“It’s not your fault, Max.” Pops would tell him, always. “It’s just that…Neil...he’s younger than you. There are things that might be…easy to you, but that are super complicated to him. And you might be able to do things that he can’t, and he can’t understand why he can’t, so he gets super confused and angry and that’s why he cries and Tamaya has to come and comfort him.”
“That, and because she’s like a...very freaky bird mom who hears her children cry and comes around with her super sonic enhanced sense of hea—“
“Hugh, don’t be rude.”
Every time they had that discussion in front of him, Max could never understand why Pops said Dad was being rude. He was right, to a certain extent. Aunt Tamaya was just…being a mom.
And that’s what moms did.
At least, that’s what Max had read and seen on TV because families like his’ were…super rare to find in his cartoons or favorite books. In fact, the times when he had seen himself represented in any of the things were so few that, for the longest time, Max had this weird, messed up idea that biological men could give birth. He thought that Adrian, apart from the fact that he was the closest to him, looked more similar to Simon, and that had to mean he had given birth to him, while Hugh had been the one to give birth to Max.
One year, when Max was six, they finished Lady Indomitable’s gigantic golden statue, placed downtown. It was late June, and though the city had previously looked covered in colors, that day it just looked…white and golden. That’s the best way Max  could find to put it into words.
According to Max’s weather application, the heat was unbearable that day (good thing he couldn’t feel anything because the temperature in the quarantine was always regulated) yet, according to what he was seeing in one of his screens, a great percentage of the citizens of Gatlon were marching in the streets carrying floating lanterns, headed towards downtown where the event was being held.
The Council was standing in front of the covered statue. All of them except Blacklight, who had stayed to take care of the Headquarters, and Max could see him from where he was. They gave a speech about Lady Indomitable together, and as they started revealing the statue, Tsunami sang a song that was supposed to be one of Lady Indomitable’s favorite ones, and that Max was too young to recognize (he supposed). In his opinion, it was a cute event, but he would be lying if he said he wasn’t utterly confused the moment he saw Adrian taking one step ahead to be the first one to let go of his floating lantern, which was different from the other ones, because his’ was bigger, and it had a big “I”. Besides, people waited a couple of seconds until it was stable above their heads to let go of their own floating lanterns.
It still looked cute to him, but now it looked weird as well. So he got up from his chair, and walked towards the edge, pressing his hands against the glass. He hoped that would be enough to magically catch Evander’s attention, who was, at the moment, using his chair as a swing, as he typed a number in his computer, copying it from his calculator and eating from his salad every now and then. Obviously, Max’s telepathic call wasn’t enough, and he had to knock on the glass a couple of times, loudly. Even then, Uncle Evander didn’t look up in his direction.
But he did hear him, because he did respond.
“It’s not gonna work, Maximus. I’m not getting you out.”
As a side note, Max considered telling him his full name was Maximilian and not Maximus, because that was way before he realized it was a nickname. Nevertheless, he just let it pass, for the simple reason he had better things to ask. That’s why he proceeded to knock again, instead of speaking.
“What is it?”
“I wanna ask you something.”
Evander tried to steady himself in the chair without falling on his back, and once he succeeded, he came closer to the quarantine, with his arms over his hips.
“Why is Adrian doing that?” He asked, just because he wasn’t able to find another way to phrase it, while pointing at the screen behind him; Evander narrowed his eyes following his finger, as if he hadn’t been watching the event himself from a livestream on his phone. A few seconds later, he seemed to realize what he was talking about, and bit his upper lip, before pouting barely a little.
Then, he clicked his tongue.
“Because that’s his mom. And today’s her birthday.”
And it’s not that Max was insensitive enough not to recognize that it was very sad, but at the same time those single words were enough to make the idea he had of his life fall apart. All the things he thought he had already managed to understand felt fake and incorrect, and it was so fast it almost made him feel dizzy.
“She’s not his mom.” He declared.
Evander opened his eyes very widely and, next thing he knew, was that, for some reason, he looked nervous. Which, to say the least, was very…unlike Evander. He was usually super…confident, and, in Dad’s words: “He walks with his back too straight for a person who says some dumb shit every time he opens his mouth”.
At that moment, his back wasn’t straight at all, and he kept on wiping the sweat off his palms in the suit.
“…I mean…she’s not…alive anymore. But… that doesn’t mean that…”
“Noooo. I didn’t mean that.” Max cut him off. “She’s not her mom, because Adrian already has a mom.”
He stopped suddenly. Max could almost see his brain working at full speed, trying to process the data he had just received. Then, he blinked, arching his eyebrow.
“Who’s…who’s his mom?” He asked, getting closer to the crystal, and crouching down to be at Max’s height (Evander was almost too tall for his own sake). “Do Simon or Hugh…?”
“No. I mean she’s not his mom because Simon’s his mom.” Max stated, confident enough to move a mountain with his raw determination and his bare hands, which, needless to say, did nothing but make Evander even more confused.
Not that Max couldn’t understand why.
He was a brand new, redeemed person now.
But back then he wasn’t.
“…Simon is what, you said?”
“Adrian’s mom.” Max reaffirmed.
Still bewildered, Evander gawked. Perhaps he understood where that confusion was coming from but, at the same time, maybe he was too disturbed to ask for additional information. Max didn’t know which one of the two would make him feel more embarrassed, especially taking into account the next thing Evander said:
“That is the weirdest shit somebody has ever said to me, and I’ve talked to the Puppeteer an unhealthy amount of times.”
He wasn’t the one who explained to him the way his own family worked. On the contrary, he immediately told his dads about it, and next time the both of them came to talk to him, they tried to make him understand the concept of homosexual couples.
And they failed.
Miserably.
And he was using that term, because after that talk, Max went through life for a while saying that his ethnicity was Gay, because both of his dads were gay. Over and over again, they tried to correct him, but nothing seemed to work, and Max kept on spreading the information that he was gay (something he didn’t know yet) until Aunt Kasumi decided to intervene and, for his birthday, she got him a children’s book called All in Rainbow, which, according to the information in the first page, was actually a translation from a Latin American book written by two lesbians (one of them non-binary) and illustrated by the same woman who had made the Anarchists’ and the Renegades’ graphic novels and was also a Latina.
That book was something similar to a gay encyclopedia. It was narrated by this girl named Phoenix, because it followed her throughout her school and her daily life, where she came across different people and families. After every short story, there was an informative section explaining everything in regards to the new person’s identity, including their flag, the meaning of said flag, and the explanation of certain terms. Max really enjoyed it, and, in fact, he ended up going through it more than once. When he tried to persuade Adrian into reading it too, he admitted he already had, when he was younger,  and proceeded to make a comment about how pretty the name “Phoenix” was.
It was only then that Max was able to understand how his own family worked, and how freaking inept he had sounded when he decided it was a great idea to use it as an ethnicity.
That book was, in fact, the cue for all the grown ups in his life to start buying books for him, which he was grateful for, except for the one that he, ironically enough, had gotten from Uncle Evander. Sure, he appreciated that he had spent money on that,  but Max didn’t appreciate the fact that the plot was about a dog that was sent away to a school for dogs but made everyone believe he was in jail so he could escape. The drawings were cute, but he just couldn’t find the moral of the story and he didn’t like that.
His dads, from their part, got him a book about two frogs that, at least to Max, acted as if they were a couple; Aunt Tamaya was the one of the short books without drawings.
As for Aunt Kasumi…she usually brought a lot of educational books; every time she overheard him expressing something that was making him confused, she brought him a book about it, including that time she heard him asking Ruby Tucker “So, are you always bleeding?” completely out of context.
Max supposed that it had a lot to do with the fact that Aunt Kasumi was in charge of Child Services, and she spent a lot of time with children, especially because she liked to volunteer in orphanages, having been in one herself when she was a little girl. She usually moved in prodigy orphanages, for she was one to know the poor conditions they sometimes presented.
And…to say the least, she wasn’t a woman of many words. She was very reserved with everything she did. And, besides, it was none of Max’s business. After all, he was just a kid.
But, in this case, it kind of involved him.
Kind of.
For the simple reason that there were two names in the list of people his age Max had talked to. The first one was Neil (who wasn’t even his age. He was just close to that) and the second one…
The second one involved Aunt Kasumi.
Just like people were able to overhear his conversations through the quarantine, Max was able to overhear the conversations they were having on the outside, especially when he was trying to do it on purpose.
Every time he was too bored, in other words.
Some of the things older people said were confusing, but, over time, Max had learned to store that information, so he could comprehend it better in the future. He didn’t know at what level that was healthy, yet he still did it because, literally, he didn’t have anything better to do.
During extremely busy days, the Council chose to spend the night in the Headquarters, just in case, and while they could sleep in the common room, if Pops was too insistent on wanting to be close to the quarantine, they slept in the hallway.
In Max’s hallway.
Of course, Dad would sleep with him inside the quarantine but, in order to make it feel more like a pajama party, they slept close to the edge of the “room” (if it could be called that way), so close to the Councils’ inflatable beds, they could’ve touched them if there hadn’t been a wall in between.
When they were sleeping in that hallway, there wasn’t a patrol looking over Max, because they were the patrol and, every two hours, they changed turns to stay awake. All of them except Dad, who stayed the entire night with Max. The others often got up and started walking around the quarantine according to their ages. That is, Aunt Tamaya went first, followed by Pops, then Aunt Kasumi, and Uncle Evander at the end. However, since it wasn’t like they were too used to having many hours of sleep, Kasumi and Evander usually got up at the same time and patrolled together.
That night, Max was having trouble sleeping. Dad was hugging him, which made him feel very comfortable, but, at the same time, before he wrapped his arms around him, he had been moving way too much, and that had made Max feel uneasy, because a part of him, though he knew it was highly possible it wasn’t true, was feeding the annoying worm at the back of his brain that told him he was the one making Dad uneasy. That Dad was moving and couldn’t sleep because he didn’t want to be anywhere near him. Perhaps he would’ve preferred to be with Pops. Perhaps he would’ve preferred to be with Adrian, even. Anyone but Max.
Which, again, he knew things…weren’t like that. But that little, nameless, uninvited worm was always telling him that, over and over again, determined to repeat those awful words until they made so much noise they made him cry.
And even then, when he was already crying, the worm ate deeper into his brain and told him to stop because, in the end, who was he crying for anyway?
Who was he crying for, if nobody was here to see or hear him?
That night, of course, he didn’t cry, for the simple reason that…well, he did have somebody who would hear him cry, and maybe comfort him like Aunt Tamaya comforted Neil when he was crying…
But he didn’t want Dad to do that.
Not today.
Not because he were mad at him, but because he feared that, if he did, then Dad would be the one who would get mad.
Besides, that night he got extremely busy trying to overhear the conversation between Kasumi and Evander who, the moment they got up, started talking as they walked, first at a volume so low their voices could’ve been considered murmurs, but then, with every second, the issue started escalating.
And it wasn’t that they were arguing, it was that they weren’t exactly happy with each other, nor did they seem to manage to get to a mutual agreement.
Max felt like that time he was watching a movie with his earphones on, and instead of paying attention to the plot, he kept trying to identify which sounds were dominant in his left ear, and which ones were dominant in his right ear, because Uncle Evander and Aunt Kasumi were walking around the quarantine, and the echoes of their voices were floating right behind them, making it almost impossible for Max to decipher their messages word by word.
At least, until they stopped in front of him. That is, very close to the inflatable mattresses, too. And with just one eye open, he was able to tell Aunt Kasumi wasn’t amused, with her arms so tight across her chest that way, and with Uncle Evander standing more straight than necessary (because, yes, Dad was right about that...sometimes... because Max had read somewhere that tall people had to be really careful with their posture to avoid spine deformities or have less complications when they were older) waving his –as Aunt Tamaya would’ve called them- Hot Cheeto fingers right in front of her face, in a way so aggressive she sometimes had to lean backwards not to get one of her eyes poked out.
“…and it won’t look good for the organization. It won’t look good, Kasumi. You know why?”
“Yes, Vandy. I know why. I already knew before, yet you took the time to explain it to me another seven times. I mean, thank you, I guess, but—“
“If I kept on explaining it to you, it’s because I didn’t…and I don’t know what’s not clicking.”
“What do you mean with what’s not clicking?” And she tilted her head to the side. “…Are you still talking to me?”
“Don’t play dumb, Kasumi. Especially not in front of me, because I know you.”
“Right. But I still don’t get what you’re referring to. What’s not clicking about what, exactly?”
Evander laughed in a way Max would’ve just…understood if she had decided to punch him in the face so he would stop.
“We’re a big organization, Kasumi. People talk.”
“Of course that people talk. I mean, our citizens support our cause and our government system. In fact, statistically, more than half of the population do, but sometimes there are things that… are for their own good but they will refuse to understand and accept them anyway. And that’s normal. We might be the law, but we can’t control how the masses think, you know?”
“For their own good, you say. Beneficial.”
“Exactly.”
“Beneficial for who, if you’d be so kind?” Evander laughed again. “As far as I understand, we’re talking about one single problem, from a single person. It won’t bring anything beneficial, as you call it, for our organization, or for our system…if anything, it will damage it and make us lose credibility.”
“…Why?”
As a response, he started flapping his arms around, as if he were trying to point at something invisible. Or at something that wasn’t really there.
And this time, Aunt Kasumi didn’t try to pretend she was seeing it, and remained silent until Evander realized he would have to make himself understood.
“Because…” He clenched his fists, sighing loudly, almost like he was certain he was right and Aunt Kasumi wasn’t. “Our policy. Remember that? You know, a thing that actually exists and you helped write?”
She didn’t respond.
“Our policy as Renegades, it’s that we shall keep our people safe, and that includes prodigy and non-prodigy citizens. We shall preserve their lives no matter the cost, and create a safe environment where all can coexist and protect each other. That means that no prodigy individual with questionable reasons is to be allowed to cross that gate and disturb the peace or, worse, put somebody’s life at risk.”
“I’m aware of that.”
“Yes, you should be, because we wrote it, for fuck’s sake.”
“Evander, please. There’s no need to curse or—“
“…But you know what that means? It means that we can’t just…go against that policy and expect our citizens, our recruits, even, to still take us seriously.”
“Oh, but I’m following that policy because, as you might remember, we also pledged to assist anyone whose life was at risk, and people who, day by day, have to live under very vulnerable circumstances. It is our job to intervene and take them to a safer place, where their quality of life can improve, isn’t it?”
“It is, but that applies for people who aren’t dangerous to society.”
At that point, Max had both his eyes open, and he was seeing the scene more clearly.
In fact, everything was so clear, that he was able to read the confusion in Aunt Kasumi’s expression, even before she said:
“…This is a kid we’re talking about.”
“She is dangerous.”
“She’s not dangerous, Evander. She's a kid. Sure, her behavior has caused her to go bouncing from orphanage to orphanage like a rubber ball but that doesn’t mean she shouldn’t be helped, that doesn’t mean we should just turn our backs at her, and that doesn’t mean she’s dangerous.”
“You know damn well her behavior’s not what I’m talking about.”
“Well, I am, because that’s the only thing that should concern us at the moment.”
“No, it’s not?”
“It is. Because she’s a kid…and, honestly, Vandy…” Aunt Kasumi sighed. “… I know we were raised thinking life is war, but… the truth is, people are not born evil. Or dangerous, for that matter. Take your time and think about it, and  you can talk to me again once you’ve calmed down, because you must be pretty much aware I don't appreciate this tone. Besides, it’s not like this little argument is going to stop me anyway.” She shrugged.
“…after all, I already talked to Hugh.”
“…And what did he say?”
“It’s not my place to tell you that. Ask him.”
Max never knew whether he had taken that suggestion or not but, knowing Evander, he just assumed he hadn’t. And, to be honest, he never asked Dad about it either. He just stood and watched how everything proceeded to go down and chaos unleashed.
Though, he had to admit, unlike what had happened with other “big” events, this one specific chaos was rather discrete. A kind of well-kept secret.
In fact, the only explicit hint that something would happen in the next few days, was the little disturbance caused by Team Frostbite (it was always Team Frostbite. Max had no idea why everyone was so…willing to put up with their…issues so much, and without hesitation) when it was their turn to patrol around the quarantine and Evander came around, holding his notepad, and muttered something to them.
“Whom?!” Genissa Clark, Frostbite, snapped immediately.
Evander frowned and, judging by the way his moustache moved, he also pouted, before turning at Mack Baxter, Aftershock, to start talking to him instead.
“Do you have any idea of what she’s talking about?” He clicked his tongue. “Like…okay, nevermind…”
When Max looked up, he saw the exact moment when Evander realized he was listening to the conversation, so he lowered his tone once again.  Yet, Max was still able to see the million ways in which Genissa Clark's face contorted and, in the end, the first second Evander shut his mouth, she declared:
“We’re not available for that. Perhaps that task should be assigned to Team Sketch or Team Peregrine. They’re always lollygagging around, it’s about time they get some real responsibi—“
“That’s a no, then. Alright. Thanks for your cooperation, Team Frostbite. Or, lack of, more likely. Do better next time, okay?”
If Max wanted to be honest with himself, it hadn’t taken him much time to realize he wasn’t fond of any of the members in Team Frostbite. Or Frostbite herself. In fact, he considered her to be almost insufferable, and, again, he couldn’t quite understand why they were allowed to boss everybody around. To a certain extent, they reminded him of the popular kids (who were also bullies) in every movie he had ever watched. They weren’t nice. Not even likeable.
Maybe Max was just very specific on the type of people he liked.
Or maybe he liked everyone and their mom, except Team Frostbite, because he didn’t know any better than that, while  at the same time he knew better than liking Team Frostbite.
But he didn’t know better than liking Margaret White, because…well…
She hadn’t done anything particularly awful for him to have an opinion as strong as Uncle Evander’s about her.
She came on a Friday.
Not that she exclusively came to talk to him.
She, in fact, arrived alongside Aunt Kasumi, who was wearing her civilian clothes –High-waisted jeans and a baby blue shirt, damp with sweat because it was hot outside- and kept leaving her car key on every table that came across her, before coming back to it to grab them.
At first, Max wasn’t able to see Margaret very well, mostly because he was distracted with his online classes, and she was taken straight to Dad’s office, along with Adrian’s entire team. And though Max didn’t see much, he was able to catch a glimpse on how Adrian kept on trying to grab her hand, and she insisted on pulling away.
At some point, he had read about that too.
The Renegades accepted recruits from ages 14 and up, talking about patrolling. However, they had a child protection program, where, basically, they assisted orphan prodigy children with behavioral issues or, though only few people liked to admit it, potential to be a part of the organization when they were older. Adrian didn’t like it and, strangely enough, out of everyone, Evander didn’t like it either. Nevertheless, Evander was one to get more aggressive when it came to child recruitment, which, thankfully, wasn’t common at all.
In fact, those cases were so rare, that they referred to them as “exceptions”. After all, children were not allowed into the Trials. As far as Max knew, they weren’t placed in patrol units. On the contrary, they were given small positions in the organization, and their paychecks were directed to their respective savings account, something that Pops was in charge of. However, they could use that money for their personal needs or something they wanted to buy, as the few children recruits resided in orphanages around Gatlon and went back there after their shift was over. Max supposed that sometimes their caretakers refused to buy them something because it wasn’t good for their health and it must be very satisfying to tell them it was their money (That’s what Adrian always did when Dad refused to buy something for him).
(That, or he went and asked Pops for that same thing).
Usually, they could have cash withdrawals just by presenting their Renegade Recruit ID because, obviously, they didn’t have an official ID yet.
And not only that. The children recruits were assigned a patrol unit with older members to look after them, or help them with anything they needed. Taking into account the conversation he had overheard, he supposed that duty had fallen on Adrian’s team (A theory that was later confirmed to be true by Adrian himself).
They were never left unsupervised, just like Max.
The day Margaret arrived, for a couple of minutes, maybe hours, Max was submerged in his own little world, and in the assignment his last teacher had told him to do. It was just him, his colored pencils, his paper sheets, his notes, his head, his hands, and the miniature planet Earth that his quarantine supposed, against the real world that he had never stepped on.
But every now and then, a little piece of the unknown, mysterious real world came running to his encounter and talked to him, sometimes in the most sudden, unsolicited way.
Sometimes it was Dad opening the door without calling. Sometimes it was Adrian pressing a new drawing against the crystal. Sometimes it was Pops, making a little “Psst” sound to get his attention.
Sometimes it was three little knocks, and the girl that was producing them with her knuckles.
Back then, Margaret’s hair was longer, to the point where she could tie it in a high ponytail, decorated with a blue bow, which combined with his orphanage uniform: A white polo, with the institution’s symbol by the right side of her chest, beneath a cobalt blue skirt with suspenders, long white socks and black scholar shoes.
He saw her and recognized she was real the first time, but Max still gave himself a couple of seconds to grasp the fact that she was really there.
Well, not there-there.
That she was there, as in, through the glass.
And she was calling him, even if she wasn’t saying anything. In fact, she was just there, eating from a chocolate bar with puffed rice. Her free hand was still over the glass.
And she was waiting.
So, he figured he didn’t want to keep her waiting anymore, and leaving his task and his tools behind, Max walked in her direction. And like it always happened, he stopped right before bumping his forehead against the hard, translucent surface.
Margaret took another bite from her chocolate, with an arched eyebrow, but she said nothing. From afar, Max hadn’t been able to really appreciate her features, but now that he was closer, he realized she was taller than him; her small, brown eyes were making her lashes look bigger; her black hair looked thicker and he was able to conclude that her skin tone was more or less like Pops’, maybe a little darker. She had a mark over her cheek, and at first Max thought it was a mole or a birthmark…until, of course, he realized that moles weren’t (or, at least, shouldn’t be) purple, and realized it was a bruise.
He didn’t ask her about it. Adrian had once told him that there were people who might not want to talk about their bruises or open wounds, not because the stories behind them were painful to tell, but because they were too embarrassing and telling embarrassing stories was an inconvenience.
“…well… now that I think about it…” He said right after. “…That’s not it. No. Not really. Sometimes your wounds’ backstories are painful. Or sometimes…you just want to keep them a secret, you know? And secrets are…sort of important.”
He believed every word.
Hence why, instead of saying something too nosy about that bruise, a little slowly at first, Max started lifting his hand up, until he reached the spot where Margaret’s was, and pressed his palm there. When she stared at his palm in confusion, Max clarified:
“Hugh five. You know?" Max giggled a little." As in… the Captain? Hugh? ...No?"
She didn’t laugh. And that was odd because Adrian would’ve.
Margaret wasn’t Adrian, sadly. And, it seemed to be, she hadn’t had an older sibling to tell her that some things just…weren’t adequate as icebreakers to start a conversation. Because, like Adrian had said, there were certain things other people might not want to talk about.
“Are you sick?” She directly asked.
Max was still “pressing” his hand against hers.
Gulping hard, he felt his throat boiling hot, almost as if it were growing blisters.
“No.” He said in a hoarse voice. “Why?”
Not pulling away either, Margaret said:
“The other day, Sister Malinda brought a very tiny baby into the orphanage. They were so small they had to take them to the medical wing.” She took another bite from her chocolate, and kept on speaking with her mouth full. “I sneaked out of my room to see them, and they were inside this little glass box that helped  keeping them alive. Sister Tam told me so.”
Max kept quiet for a while. He would’ve been lying if he said he didn’t have a little curiosity about the name, but Margaret solved everything that had to be solved even if he didn’t ask her to.
“Sister Tam was named after Thunderbird. She’s younger than the other nuns.”
He guessed so.
Aunt Tamaya’s real name had been revealed to the general public on the 13th year into the Age of Anarchy, when she reappeared after being away for months thanks to an accident that involved Queen Bee and a cliff or something like that (Max couldn’t quite understand it, and Aunt Tamaya couldn’t remember much about it either. If she did, then she just didn’t desire to talk about it). It wasn’t a fun anecdote or anything like that but, according to his dads, the name Tamaya topped the lists for the most female-assigned names for at least a year, and the same thing happened in the 20th year into the Age of Anarchy...however, by the time she was buried, the world didn’t know Lady Indomitable’s real name, and for an entire month, people used Regina instead of Georgia. When Max asked why, Dad answered that, when attending public events, Lady Indomitable used to wear a pair of shiny golden R-shaped earrings that caused everybody in Gatlon to develop mass hysteria and made themselves believe that those Rs meant Regina, when in reality, according to Lady Indomitable herself, one of them meant “Rawles”, and the other “Renegade”. In fact, Oscar Silva (Smokescreen, one of the members of Adrian’s team) had once said that one of his cousins, who lived in Mexico, had been named Renata Regina (Though nobody knew what the heck that first name was, and Oscar had a really peculiar way to pronounce Regina) because she was born a few days after Lady Indomitable’s decease.
“I knew that.” Max lied.
“Sure, buddy. I bet you did.” Margaret chuckled. And there, Max realized she thought she was too clever.
Which, he didn’t doubt she was. He wasn’t in the position to state that. At least, not yet.
But what he was in the position to state, was that, if she thought herself to be clever, then it was his opportunity to think of himself as clever too. After all, he had been reading his whole life because he didn’t have anything else to do.
If Margaret was clever, then so was he.
“You’re talking about an incubator.” He said.
Margaret looked up out of a sudden (Max hoped she hadn’t gotten dizzy). He could still see the chocolate, that at this point should’ve been mush, stored in the inside of her right cheek.
“Uh?” She asked, struggling to keep her mouth closed.
Max gulped, and tapped the surface with his fingers.
“The thing where they put the little baby. It’s called an incubator. That’s where they put pre-term babies, because they’re not ready to survive outside of their mother’s womb. Sometimes their lungs don’t work on their own, sometimes their hearts are too fast or too slow…”
“You look too old to be a baby.” She observed. “Are your powers something related to that? Like, are you a baby who doesn’t look like a baby?”
For a second, Max thought about quoting Evander that time he had boldly stated that Simon was Adrian’s mom, but he didn’t because he wasn’t in the mood to curse.
“…No. First, this is not an incubator. And second,  I’m a kid.” He answered. “I’m not a baby.”
“Then why are you here?”
The short answer was that, honestly, that was none of her business. And the even shorter answer, was:
“I can’t tell you. It’s a secret. And secrets are sort of important.”
“A secret.” She repeated, as if tasting the word. “…You don’t look like you want to be here. Are you allowed to come out?”
The short answer was still that it was none of her business. But, if he wanted to be honest, for some reason, he didn’t want to give that answer. Because, to be fair, she would find out on her own sooner or later. Because, yes, people talked, and while his dads were kind of secretive about him, everyone in the headquarters knew him. Her being clueless was just a temporary event that would vanish into thin air in a blink.
And, for some reason, he wanted to enjoy it while it lasted.
Maybe tell her something that wasn’t real. Maybe… tell her something that wasn’t necessarily true but that he wanted it to be. Maybe something that was more interesting than what he was, in reality; maybe something that would make the worm in his brain go away for two weeks.
"I can't get out." He finally decided. "Because this glass is infrangible."
Then, he knocked on it three times.
"See?"
Margaret tilted her hair to the side, looking like a cat.
"What does that word mean?"
And dumb as it sounded, Max felt a twinge in his stomach along with a violent wave of pride. Because, even if it was hard for him to admit it, he was hoping she would ask that.
He wanted her to ask that.
"It means you can't break it."
Margaret's eyes seemed bigger. But just as she was separating her lips to speak, somebody behind her cleared their throat.
That's when Max spotted Aunt Kasumi leaned against a wall with her arms crossed. When Margaret looked over her shoulder, she found her there too. But while Max waved at her, Margaret remained inexpressive.
"You're very far from the restroom, Maggie." Kasumi said, in a serious tone. Afterwards, she massaged her temples.
"Please, darling. Just… help me here, okay? We have to go back to the office."
And she didn't seem mad, but rather disappointed.
When it came to Aunt Kasumi, that was enough. Max knew that, and Margaret knew that too. That's why they both removed their hands from the glass, and Margaret started going away.
However, before she was too far, Max asked:
"Why are you here?"
And Margaret turned around, smiling.
"If you're not telling me, I'm not telling you." She sentenced. Then, she proceeded to imitate his voice as she said:
"It's a secret."
And for a while, obviously, it remained that way. A secret. But it wasn't long before they both knew everything they needed to know.
Margaret was integrated into the janitorial team, but, for a while, people talked about her and her powers, and Max couldn’t help but remember what Dad had told him in the bathtub, and the conversation between Evander and Kasumi.
Yet, more than scared, Max felt… something he didn't know what it was. In fact, he wasn't scared of her. More likely, a part of him felt that he knew what it was like to be her, because maybe they weren't that different after all.
People were scared of them both.
But he wasn't scared of her. No, not really.
He hoped she wasn’t scared of him either.
Maybe they could've been very good friends, even through the infrangible glass that kept him from getting pointed at, frowned upon or killed.

The way all that just make me start disliking Adrien so hard wow I have enough of him so hard can they get ride of him for one damn episode?
Anonymous said:
Wow! Writers got on completely new level. They somehow made people to be annoyed with Adrien, even without putting him in episode.
My meme image of “I’ve had enough of this dude,” about sums it up.
It’s almost impressive???

I have the impression that you should slowly gather materials for "Treatment of Marinette S4"
You know, when you’re right, you’re right.

Hey there... Got a lil rant, I hope you don't mind in sea of anons you're probably getting. I guess if show didn't treat Marinette as their favorite punching bag and lukanette as a thing to get over with to be back on love square bullshit I wouldn't be this salty. We all knew lukanette isn't a endgame, but we actually care about Luka ans Marinette as characters and as a couple, and we knew there was a break up brewing.
But I mlb writers for setting things up, canonizing them over provocative tweet and leave them to dust right at the beginning of s4. And, oh sweet irony as they kinda accidentally made Lukanette totally better than love square (let's be honest if they knew what they were doing we wouldn't get any breakup from narrative and character development standpoint),,, because their heroine for once is loved and appreciated but that's another discussion and they hate that for her. Also, thomas arstruck can suck my toe.
I don't know what's your opinion on soulmate and destiny thing, but I'm totally in opposite. I remember The Good Place (love the series btw!) quote about how soulmates are made with love and nurture of people and not some cosmic forces. And to see how show is pushing for Destiny ™️ I'm kinda disheartened. But I guess I never really liked love square execution in the first place when it turned out that Marinette is butt of the crush joke for 3 seasons and there's 0 development from that. Like Thomas, that's not funny running gag. Thanks for reading! Hope you're doing well!
Thank you for the rant, and I agree!
It’s so strange how all their attempts to push for the love square just push me more towards Lukanette. How do the writers do that???
Anonymous said:
Yeah that point where she exclaims Luka in shock just angered and confused me. She LITERALLY transformed because Luka was akumatized. And her being shocked is only there to get her under the truth spell.
This episode is held together by knots and strings at this point.

Wow, "Ladybug likes Chat Noir humor." Then why every time Chat Noir makes puns, Ladybug looks like she wanted to strangle him on spot.
Ladybug = us
At that point, they should’ve just said, “[The writers] like Chat Noir’s humor.” Like--writers, please don’t use Ladybug as a tool to simp for your sunshine boy, it looks really pathetic.

Based on the ellipses you used I'm guessing you're not a fan of Jagged talking about the "Guitar is my only family" song.
Oh, no actually... I mean, I do because it’s there to torment Luka, but the ellipses was because of the intentional pause in the episode. Jagged was looking sympathetic

Truth was awful, the only good thing we got out of it was a Lukanette date (yay :'D) and we got to know Luka's father (although we all been knew).
Honestly if we could find a way to edit it so Luka and Marinette properly kissed then we’d just chop it out of the episode and call it the only canon thing.

So, given that "Truth" didn't introduce the protection charms, I'm going to take a wild guess that they're not introduced until after "Gang of Secrets", meaning that Marinette won't get any close friends that it's safe to tell her secret to.
I was legit so sure that it was a guardian benefit and now I’m just left confused/curious about what causes CharmBug. Like, what, do you get CharmBug by purifying your one thousandth akuma???
Anonymous said:
I am absolutely positive no one quality checks these episodes before they’re sent out. Ladybug getting caught off guard on Luka being Truth even though she knows he was akumatised, and the horribly upbeat music playing as Marinette lies in bed absolutely defeated is so bad there’s no way this was double checked before it was sent out to TV stations
At this point, I’m convinced that they don’t care and are jamming through episodes as fast as they possible can.

I'm willing to bet that the writers go through critical and salt blogs just to see what the fandom's thinking, and then they think we're serious and they sprint with whatever we say.
guys please reconsider and also lower your alcohol levels

It was awful in general, but why add the paternity thing in the break-up ep? It detracts from, well, everything else and makes obvious they are copypasting fan theories instead of thinking of plot points.
I really do think they knew that Luka being upset over Marinette’s secret wasn’t enough to akumatize him so he needed something else.
Anonymous said:
Let me get something straight: The episode was explicitly about Marinette going on dates with Luka and that they were together. Yet Juleka is once again part of the shipping squad with obligatory "Marinette is only weird because she's with Adrien"-theories, and she's totally cool with that?
Yup! :3
guys I just adore mob mentality, did you know.
guys--
Anonymous said:
Ok, but the fact that everyone considers Marinette’s crush on Adrien to be her big secret is stupidly unrealistic. They KNOW they’re all aware of it - the girl squad even figured it out by themselves before they were told and think it’s totally obvious (as long as you’re a girl cause guys are clueless about feelings right). As far as they’re concerned it’s not actually a secret so they SHOULD be spilling the things they think only they and Marinette know. I mean, I can think of dozens of possibilities for Tom and the rest of the girls already, but Alya?
We had a front row seat to the damning secret Alya knows from back in season 1, but I guess asking this show to acknowledge continuity is too much. Still, the episode could have been so much more interesting if Alya had said, “Marinette’s the one who really gave Adrien the scarf for his birthday, but he looked so happy thinking it was from his father that she couldn’t bear to tell him that Gabriel hadn’t actually gotten him anything.” (I suppose reminding people of that wouldn’t fit into the writers’ poor attempts to make Gabriel sympathetic though 🙄).
Lol, just imagine the entire battle being sidetracked by Luka being brought to tears by how selfless and sweet his girlfriend is while Shadow Moth is too distracted by how this will ruin his reputation to get him back on track.
JKHJDSKGFSG
YES.
ALL OF THIIIIIS.
THIS IS AMAZING.

Marinette deserves to tell Luka she's Ladybug and have some support on her side tbh, it's disgusting to see the writers breaking up clearly the only thing that brings her joy and peace currently
HONESTLY.
And judging from that one trailer, she IS going to tell someone her secret and it’ll probably be freaking Alya; you know, the girl who blabbed about her Adrien crush to Nino and is thus THE LEAST TRUTHWORTHY PERSON. (”bonus” if it’s before the amulets)
I’m having nightmares already about Alya distrusting Lila because Marinette is Ladybug and not because Alya believes in Marinette. DX

Now that it’s been confirmed (in the worst way possible) that Jagged Stone is in fact Luka’s (and possibly Juleka’s?) father, how would you handle the whole mixed family aspect considering Jagged and Anarka’s relationship, Jagged and Penny’s, Anarka and Penny’s, Jagged and Luka’s (and Juleka’s?), and Penny and Luka’s (and Juleka’s?)? Topics like mixed families and family relationships are something that needs to be handled sensibly and sensitively given how it hits home for a lot of real-world people. Since we obviously can’t trust the ML writers to handle such topics the way that they deserve to be, how would you go about it knowing what we know up to this point about each character on their own and how they interact with one another?
Luka and Juleka were “accidents,” but Anarka kept it a secret from Jagged since Jagged was already hyped up to go on his next tour and Anarka knew their relationship was crumbling (possibly he already dumped her as his guitarist and she was annoyed about it). Jagged eventually learns that he has kids and is hesitant towards the idea, but because of him doting on Marinette (who’s the same age as his kids), he opens up to the idea.
Anarka and Jagged in present are mixed between tolerating each other for the sake of their kids and being chaotic best friends. The bad blood died out a while ago and there’s occasional tension but because Anarka is a single woman not interested in Jagged and Jagged is single with a possible thing for Penny, they make it work
Anarka and Penny have an awkward relationship. Penny wants to schedule time for Jagged to hang with Luka and Juleka and Anarka is confused at the very concept of a schedule, like just take them whenever okay??? isn’t it easier that way??? and Penny is like, “...oh, I guess so?”
Jagged and Penny, it depends on if they’re in any sort of relationship. If they’re in a relationship, Penny is either open to the idea of him learning to be good with kids if she’ll eventually want kids with him, or mixed because these are another woman’s kids and it’s really awkward. If they’re not in a relationship, then Penny could also be mixed since she’s crushing on him but I could also see her either finding it sweet that Jagged wants to hang out with his kids or finding it a hassle to schedule them in.
Jagged and Luka is rough. Luka has so many conflicting feelings on his idol ending up being his father. Jagged will probably even comment on Luka’s shirt + necklace and all of Luka’s merch in an attempt to bond but that kind of comes off desperate/awkward and Luka’s not about that life. I could also see Luka taking all the stuff down and swapping out his shirt, but being hesitant to remove the necklace because it’s a gift from Marinette. He might try to wash off the signature. He knows it’s not Jagged’s fault exactly but Anarka seemed to have bad blood with him and even if they get along now, Luka’s bitter. Jagged meanwhile wants to connect with Luka because hey musician energy!! but is gonna mess up a lot and say a lot of awkward things. Marinette will probably have to be a middle man between the two because it’s easier for them to talk with her around.
Jagged and Juleka don’t have a significant relationship at first. Juleka never care who her father was and she wasn’t crazy about Jagged Stone like Luka was. Jagged does try to connect with her but they clash majorly due to Jagged being so “loud” and Juleka being so quiet. Jagged will see it as a huge accomplishment the day where Juleka says something coherent (i.e: not a mumble) to him.
Yeah though, keep in mind for all of this that I’m not a family relationship kinda girl, so this isn’t my forte (I’m probably the most sympathetic to Jagged out of the whole fandom; not to say I agree with his actions but I have a history of hating babies and children, so not cool of him if he ditched Anarka but like, I get it, doesn’t make him better but I get it from a non-realistic standpoint of “ew, parenting”).

You know what? Imma gonna ignore canon for a bit more than I’ve been doing. The only thing I take away from “Truth” is that Marinette loves Luka and Tikki looks adorable in hats. That’s it have a good Saturday! 💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
Anonymous said:
If there’s one small detail that I thought was genuinely cute this episode, it’s Tikki posing in the mirror with her little hat collection.
Ahaha, those are good takeaways!
And yes, Tikki looked good in hats, but at what cost. (guys, where’s our jealous Tikki episode where Tikki is jealous of the attention Marinette has to give the other kwami wait no they’d just make it Marinette’s fault go back go ba--)

Am I the only on squicked out by how Adrien acts all noble and claims he would never force Ladybug to tell him anything, but when it becomes apparent that he has to ask her a question before the akuma can he goes all ‘what are your three favorite things about me?’ :3c I mean, he had decent amount of time to think up a bunch of innocent questions that couldn’t hurt her in any way like ‘what is your favorite color?’ or ‘do you like cookies?’ or even ‘what’s the capitol of France?’ But instead he basically demands she compliment him. Coming from a guy who spent most of the last two seasons refusing to take ‘no’ for an answer that’s a bit… icky.
THIS
He could’ve phrased it in any way and he used it to get compliments from her. :|
At least Ladybug asked a legitimate question about how he felt about her guardian status.

I had this idea for an episode: Luka finds out that Marinette is LB because he is in danger. Let's say he gets yeeted off a building by an akuma and Marinette (in her civilian form) jumps after him, transforms while Luka sees it (he's shook, obviously), she grabs him and saves him from falling. I think that would be pretty epic, do you think you could write a one-shot based on that idea if you feel like that? I would forever be thankful. Have a nice day!
I like the idea, though I feel like that’s been done a lot before in identity reveal fanfics.

You know, despite them all getting interrupted, I thought the attempts at Lukanette dates was really cute. Luka picking up Marinette from school, the two trying to see who is the biggest jagged fan, getting ice cream at Andre's, it's really cute! I only wish Hawkmoth and the writers weren't such dickheads.
It’s so adorable!
Like--show, you aren’t doing a good job at getting me off the Lukanette train.
Anonymous said:
Are you sure the Lukanette breakup wasn't Marinette's fault? I mean, the episode frames it like she's refusing to tell the truth, even if it's for a good reason.
I’m not sure when I said that the episode didn’t frame it as her fault?
Things are ALWAYS Marinette’s fault, it’s literally a rule of the show.
Anonymous said:
You know the truth episode actually gives more reasons for lukanette in my opinion based of its description you said. Luka is ridiculously understanding and also almost manages to fight off hawk moth as well as taking probably a week at least for him to get to that and yet he, while he’s upset, still tries to be there for marinette. Also makes the relationships she has with her friends and family worse if the secret they think she has is that she likes adrien while dating Luka.
YES!!
And oh my gosh, I feel the friends and family comment so badly. Just throwing it out there, maybe you guys don’t actually support her???
Anonymous said:
How do you feel about Luka having no negative reaction to this whole "Marinette loves Adrien" thing? I understand that he isn't exactly the jealous type, but still, it seems weird to me that he just accepts it while Marinette is dating him. I love Luka a lot, but in this situation his reaction was just so unrealistic...
Honestly, I find it really interesting. Plus, it’s Truth who’s being told those things, not Luka, and Truth has other priorities.
And--I mean, I’m positive that Luka got into the relationship knowing that Marinette wasn’t completely over Adrien. She wanted to see if they’d work and he wanted to date her. It’s both of them being a little selfish in a way and I like that.
That’s why I think he doesn’t have a big reaction to the Adrien call. He seems amused more than anything, and Luka is empathetic also so he knows not to take Marinette’s stammering/mistakes to heart because she doesn’t mean them. We already had evidence of that in “Desperada.”

Even if Lukanette had stayed together, I have a feeling Alya would complain that it's not Adrien...which could lead to a character growth opportunity for her when her complaining leads to Luka getting hurt when he overhears and becomes an akuma. But that's too interesting.
Interesting character relationships??? In THIS show???
never

After watching Truth the only thing I can feel at the moment is bitter. Not angry, not sad, not disappointed. Just bitter.
Bitter’s a good way of putting it, yeah. *sigh*

The fact that the second episode released managed to get a bingo really says a lot about how predictable the show's garbage fire writing.
I KNOW, RIGHT??
I knew the Lukanette episode would be a big card filler but DAMN.
Anonymous said:
I hated all of Truth, but perhaps the worst part was how hard they tried to remind you that, no matter how much of a good time Marinette and Luka have together, it's Adrien who Marinette will end up with in the end. From Alya rudely insinuating "girl, you're acting stupid, is Adrien at your house?", to Luka receiving a PICTURE of Adrien from a kwami, to Marinette talking on the phone with Luka while her Adrien pictures are in the background, to Marinette CALLING LUKA ADRIEN, to Truth demanding that people tell him Marinette's secret, only for them ALL to say "She's in love with Adrien Agreste.".
It's absolutely anger-inducing because it tries too hard to let the audience know to forget about Luka because Adrien is lurking in the corner and he and Marinette are endgame. The fans are right, Luka IS a second choice, but not in the way they think. Luka's a second choice, not for Marinette, but for the Miraculous Ladybug world. for the WRITERS!!!
But what bothers me the most is that everyone saying that Marinette loves Adrien is accepted as truth even when Marinette herself says she's over Adrien. Her words are ignored, how she feels is ignored, because everyone else(including the girl squad, when they're supposed to be her "friends") tells her that she's supposed to be in love with Adrien, and so she "has" to go along with it because ENDGAME. It's the show saying "stupid naive Marinette, you're too immature and dumb to know how you really feel, let someone else do the thinking for you!"
Meanwhile Adrien moving on with Kagami is accepted even when he still flirts with Ladybug(and forces her to build up his ego when he asks her what she admires most about him; I know it was a spur of the moment thing, but meta-wise, it was obvious love square pushing.), because "he's trying to respect her feelings and date someone else!" It's one of the main gripes I have with the show: that teenage girls are too emotional and confused to know what they really want, but teenage boys are mature and rational enough to make up their minds about who they love without holding any animosity towards anyone.
The all-white, all-male writing team pushes the Chinese girl's feelings aside and forces her to hide and erase them if they're not want they want her to feel, while the white boy gets congratulated with a pat on the back for doing the bare minimum and always, ALWAYS, takes the moral high ground(even in superhero form when he's supposedly goofy.). When she's the lead.
"Luka's a second choice, not for Marinette, but for the Miraculous Ladybug world. for the WRITERS!!!“
LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK
It’s just tiring. It’s not even me being sick of the love square, but it being forced into everything when it’s not even relevant. The episode strategically throws more and more of Marinette’s Adrien crush (I did the math, I know this) into the mix and it provides nothing but the same tired jokes. Heck, they keep leaning on the lucky charm Marinette let him borrow (not GAVE, let him BORROW) back in Season 1 because they basically have nothing else to go off of.

SHOTO TODOROKI
Tumblr media
Todoroki was a force to be reckoned with, especially where it came to his mate.
Nobody got to fuck with them.Much less his own father.
Endeavor had made it painfully obvious he didn't like his son's chosen mate.
Especially since they were a seat higher in hero ranking than Shoto.
He couldn't believe his own son had been outranked by an omega.
Shoto didn't mind, in fact, he was very proud of you.
He may not have known you in school, but your mother had embarrassingly boasted a laundry list of your accomplishments when you introduced him.
She also gave him a very detailed rundown of every single step of your hero training. Starting from a young age.
You could've died of embarrassment.
Shoto listened intently, taking in every single detail.
He firmly decided that you deserved your seat, maybe even a higher seat than that, and he made sure you felt proud of your ranking too.
Since your position pissed off Endeavor, Shoto always found a way to wedge it into conversation with him.
Anything to make the old crackpot flame.
It made family gatherings rather awkward and difficult.
Usually the tension was so thick you could cut it with a knife.
As hard as Fuyumi tried to make things chill and normal, Natsuo and Shoto made sure Endeavor knew they liked you more than him.
So to say that your relationship with your future father-in-law was nonexistent was an overstatement.
Endeavor couldn’t stand being in the same room as you. Shoto refused to allow you to be in the room with him, especially alone.
The two of you were basically strangers connected through a mutual.
Honestly, it was stressful.
He was going to be at family gatherings, he would be at your wedding the following year, he'd be grandfather to any pups you raised - no matter what, he was always going to be there.
You couldn’t escape him. So you might as well make peace, right?
You had a bad feeling, but you couldn't keep walking on eggshells.
You made sure Shoto didn’t know what you were up to. And waited until you had a day off and Shoto was at work.
You already knew he’d disapprove of the olive branch you were trying to extend.
You and Shoto lived in a lovely house on the outside of the city where his agency was.
Shoto wanted it built as an early wedding present. You'd only been there for about six months.
It had large, beautiful gardens, a good amount of land, and a pond. It was your own personal wonderland.
Having this little spec of gloom in your personal paradise wasn't ideal. But you had to put a truce on this.
It was noon on the dot when a knock came to your door.
You were still not mentally prepared to handle this on your own.
You smiled as best you could and opened the door. “Enji.”
“[Name],” he said in disdain.
You bit the inside of your cheek. “Thank you for coming. Come in, the tea just finished.”
He glared at you for a long moment but then walked into the grand foyer.
Enji glanced around blankly. You couldn’t tell if he liked the house, or if he hated it because it was yours.
“Shoto designed everything,” you noted. He nodded at that. “Uh, the dining room is this way.”
You led him through the library and down a hall.
You opened the door, allowing him in first. He entered without so much as a glance at you.
“Take a seat.” You gestured to the two chairs where your lunch and fresh tea was laid out.
Endeavor sat stiffly in one, and you in other.
“The cooks Shoto found make the best food I’ve tasted,” you noted awkwardly.
Shoto had hired some staff to help since you two were so busy.
“For you, I’m sure,” he grunted but picked up his utensils anyway. “Thanks.”
You two ate in tense silence for a minute. Your heart pounded in your chest, it nearly made you gag with nerves.
You should’ve waited for Shoto.
You cleared your throat and took a sip of tea.
“I’ll be frank, Enji…” you started. “I asked you here to extend an olive branch.”
“An olive branch. Really?” Enji seemed more annoyed than ever.
“When Shoto and I get married, we’ll be family. - I’m not saying you have to like me. Or that we have to talk to each other. All I’m saying is that I want to make a truce. So we can be...civil?”
He grunted. “Does Shoto know you’re doing this?”
You shook your head. “He’d probably disapprove. But I thought I’d try. So if it doesn’t work out, he’d still come around. You know how he can be. He’d be even more furious with you, and probably wouldn’t go any family functions for a while.”
“You seem to know my Shoto well enough,” Enji noted.
You shrugged, laughing uncomfortably. “We’ve been dating for five years, engaged for almost two. So I’m hoping I do.”
After another few moments of silence, he asked, “May I use your facilities?”
You nodded and gestured. “Through that door, make the left, follow it down the hall, and it’ll be on your right.”
You cursed under your breath when the door finally shut. It was a relief being out from under those eyes. Away from his alpha stench. It was burning your nose, and making your eyes water.
You didn’t think anything of it until fifteen minutes had passed.
Had he gotten lost? Definitely not, right?
You left the dining room, going down the hall to find the bathroom door open and the room empty.
You followed the hall down and around and finally back to the foyer.
That’s where you smelled it. The undeniable scent of smoke.
You followed it up the stairs and down one wide hall and then another.
Your heart felt like it snapped in half as you watched smoke pour from the door with a sign (lovingly made by Momo) that read Nest Sweet Nest.
You launched yourself into the doorway. Sure enough, Endeavor was slowly lighting item after item on fire.
“What the -” you started, walking into the room with a sleeve over your face.
“I will never make peace with you,” he snapped. “Extending a branch without so much as consulting Shoto. How degrading and insulting to your alpha. And being outranked by an omega of all people. It’s disgraceful. Shoto deserves that spot you occupy. As well as an omega stronger than you.”
You felt something in you snap. And then you were consumed by overwhelming energy.
Your quirk had activated, and you hadn’t done it consciously.
The energy surge lifted you up, engulfing you in the form of a bear that barely fit in the room. Luckily the energy could be phased through objects if you wanted.
The translucent white-blue bear roared and growled at Endeavor.
“Get. Out!” you snapped from where you controlled the bear from within.
Endeavor shot fire at you. But the bear stopped it from entering your energy form.
You took the bear’s massive paw and swatted at Enji, pinning him under it.
Your bear leaned down, shifting into the form of a lion. It snapped and snarled at his face.
Endeavor showed no fear. Though you could smell it through the lion’s nose.
You picked him up in the mouth of the lion. Putting just enough pressure to pin and threaten him. But not enough to crush.
The lion and you squeezed through the door, swept down the halls, and back to the front door.
Your butler stood, waiting with the entry open. “I’ve instructed the others to put the fire out.”
You nodded at him, then squeezed out to the front path. The lion grew even larger, dwarfing the house.
“Consider this war, Endeavor,” you snapped, voice echoing through the lion. “All branches have been burned. And I will be telling Shoto.”
The lion tossed him out into the middle of the front lawn.
You watched as he hit and rolled across the grass. When he stopped, he pushed himself up and glared at you. Then he lit up and readied himself.
As soon as he launched into the air, he was caught in a flow of ice.
Only one person could do that.
Walking up the drive was no other than Shoto, home early.
You’d semi-lost your mind to the beast. A struggle you’d been having since your quirk emerged. Only rage made you lose your mind now.
The lion roared at Shoto, stalking up to him. But he showed no fear. You couldn’t even smell it on him.
He placed a hand on the lion’s snout, staring at it as blankly as ever. The lion sank into a laying position.
Shoto climbed up on it and forced his way into the energy field. Like you’d showed him, just in case.
He was pulled to the center, where you were. Immediately, he took you in his arms, cradling you against his chest.
You struggled at first. But calmed down at his cinnamon scent.
He rubbed your back and kissed your hair, pumping out comfort pheromones.
You felt the energy draining and you wrapped your arms around him in turn. With a sigh, the two of you settled to the ground.
“Shoto,” you yawned, your quirk completely deactivated. “You’re home early.”
“Got a call about a fire,” he grunted. “I can see why now.”
Shoto released his father, who hadn’t bothered melting the ice on his own. The two just stared at each other, then Endeavor left without a word.
“What happened? What was this all about?” Shoto asked as he hauled you off the ground.
You were worn out. Rage energy was much harder to control. It was much more draining than how it was when you did hero work. At least you had control then.
You explained the situation to Shoto. He was not happy, to say the least.
“What were you thinking? You should’ve waited -” he started to scold.
You couldn’t help the tears that flowed. “That’s not even the worst part. - Come see.”
Tiredly, you pulled Shoto up to the charred room that once held your nest.
Fond tokens of love and memories were burnt to ash. The blankets and clothes and pillows you’d hoarded were all gone now. Nothing was left of what was except the charred Nest Sweet Nest sign on the door.
“He...he burned everything,” you wheezed, wiping furiously at the tears on your cheeks.
“That bastard,” Shoto cursed under his breath.
He held you closely, glaring into the blackened room. He wasn’t going to let his father get away with this. But, for now, you were his priority.
He got you changed into clean clothes, then took you down to the entertainment room.
Shoto put on your favourite movie, had tea brought down along with snacks, and cradled you in his arms until you zonked out.
He’d never seen you like that. He had to admit, it was terrifying.
Honestly, he never thought he’d have to use the emergency maneuver you’d taught him. You were so good with your control.
Of course, Endeavor would be the one to break it. Natsuo and Fuyumi were going to hear about this.
However, revenge was for another time.
Right now, his omega was the most important thing.

KATSUKI BAKUGO
Tumblr media
God, you were just too cute and you didn't even fucking know it.
Katsuki smiled to himself as he cast one last look at you in your nest before going off to work.
He'd bought you a body pillow cover of himself as Ground Zero as a joke. But here you were, curled up with your face stuffed in it and a leg thrown over. Drooling like a kid.
He'd scented the entire thing for you. There was no getting rid of that smell for a while.
He never thought he'd find this with anyone. He was so caught up in work, romance was the last thing on his mind.
But one chance encounter changed everything. And he wouldn’t have it any other way.
With that, he left for work. Unaware of what would soon transpire.
All of Katsuki’s friends loved you. In fact, there were times they preferred you over him.
But not all of your friends loved Katsuki.
The shallower ones of the bunch were jealous you’d nabbed a hero. But they were all concerned about your safety. Not just from villains, but from Katsuki himself.
They found him too brash, too rowdy, too aggressive. And they were worried that would turn on you.
Not that they’d ever tell you as much. But you could tell they weren’t fond of him.
They’d never seen the side of him you had. Or even the sides of him that his friends got to see.
He was usually busy when you hung out with your friends.
Even when he was home, he didn’t like to get in the way of your friend time. Which was becoming fewer and farther between. No matter how much you wanted him to hang out with you all.
They weren’t exactly begging for him to come along either.
Your friends had seen him in the media. Seen the way he acted in battle, the way he talked to the press and yelled at the paps. How he bullied even fellow heroes.
They didn’t trust him as far as they could throw him.
It was the weekend and you were having them over for the day while Katsuki was out on patrol.
You had everything ready by the time they arrived for lunch.
There wasn’t really much to do. Katsuki kept the house tidy, while you did laundry and dishes. You took turns giving the dog a bath, and that was that.
Your dog, an Amstaff named Pooki - a name she came with, much to Katsuki’s chagrin (he did try to change it, but she wouldn’t respond to anything else) - barked when a knock came at the door.
Behind it, stood your main little group of six. They all seemed on edge, except your best friend of the group - Haruto.
He grinned and hugged you immediately.
“I’m so glad you all could make it! - Did you all find it okay? I know we’re a little out of the way,” you said and moved so they could enter.
“Uh, yeah. We found it fine,” Akari, Haruto’s sister, said.
Haruto was already baby-talking the dog.
“Is he -” started Sota, a friend you’d made in middle school. Your other friend, Mei, nudged him.
You shook your head. “No - my boom boy won’t be back until this afternoon. He’s out patrolling.”
Misato, the most serious and mom like of the group, came and put a hand on your shoulder. “It’s good to see you haven’t lost your spunk.”
“What’re you -?” you started, then shook your head. “Nevermind. C’mon, I have a game loaded for us to play. I promise you’ll love it.”
You led them to the living room. It was a decent size with two chairs, a four-person couch, and a loveseat. Katsuki had a gaming station set up around the electric fireplace.
Your friend Yuto pushed his way to the front of the group. “No way is that -”
You nodded, knowing exactly what he was talking about. He wouldn’t shut up about it in the group chat.
“But that hasn’t even come out yet -”
“Katsuki got it for me,” you laughed. Tension in the room spiked. “It was a thank you from the company. He saved their building from being destroyed, you know. This game never would’ve been released, if it weren’t for him.”
“Remind me to thank fireball later,” Yuto noted half-heartedly. He perched in one of the chairs, grabbing a controller. The others followed.
You were squished in between Haruto and Akari. Pooki took up residency on your lap. You were going to have to put this dog on a diet.
“Help yourselves to the snacks. Made them fresh just before you got here,” you noted.
It didn’t take long for them to dive in.
The day was going nice for the first few hours. What you didn’t expect was another knock at the door.
Pooki shot off your lap, racing to it. You were surprised to find Katsuki’s friends.
“Mina, Eijiro, Hanta, Denki - what’re you guys doing here?” you asked, letting them in.
“Here to see you, of course.” Eijiro hugged you tightly. The others followed.
“Besides, Katsuki said he wanted to chill today, anyway! Just so happens that we all had early patrols,” Mina explained.
“Katsuki won’t be home until later -” you started, moving with them as they made their way to the living room.
“We like hanging out with you, ya know?” Denki said, rolling his eyes.
“Who’s this?” Haruto said, looking over the back of the couch as you all entered.
You glanced between the two groups. “Uh....well, this is awkward….Guys, these are Katsuki’s friends. Eijiro Kirishma, Hanta Sero, Mina Ashido, and Denki Kaminari. - Everyone, these are my friends. Haruto and Akari Ito, Yuto Watanabe, Misato Yamamoto, Mei Nakamura, and Sota Sato.”
Katsuki’s group said their hellos. But your friends all stared in tense silence until Misato spoke up. “Hello, it’s very nice to meet you all.”
Pooki nearly knocked Denki over jumping on him.
“Sorry, she’s gotten fat since you saw her last,” you laughed.
“Still cute as ever though, aren’t you girl?” Denki replied, baby-talking to her.
Eijiro’s eyes moved to the screen. “What’re you all playing?”
“Remember that gaming company that Katsuki saved the building?” you asked.
Denki’s eyes lit up. “Really?! That one!”
You grinned. “Mhm. Someone can take my spot. - I’ll go get chairs.”
“Don’t worry,” Eijiro chuckled, patting Pooki. “We can get them ourselves. That’s the manly thing to do.”
With that, the four of them left. You laughed under your breath, rolling your eyes after them.
“How long are they staying?” Sota asked snidely.
You shrugged. “Until Katsuki gets home, I suppose. Trust me, you’ll like them -”
“I doubt that,” Haruto said, slumping back into his seat.
You settled awkwardly back between Haruto and Akari, your legs crossed under you.
That’s when the others came back with chairs. Well, at least Hanta and Denki anyway.
“I’m just gonna sit on the floor,” Mina said with a shrug. She came and sat in front of you, leaning her back against the couch.
Eijiro sat on the floor across from you, leaning against the coffee table to pick at the snacks.
“Here, Denki,” you called, tossing him your controller. “I know you’ve been dying to play it. Just - don’t zap another controller, please? I thought Katsuki was going to kill you last time.”
“Awesome!” he cheered. “[Name], you’re the best!”
They started the game back up. It was Denki, Yuto, Mei, Sota, and Haruto playing.
“So,” Misato started, clearing her throat. “You all have been here before?”
“Oh yeah,” Eijrio laughed. Pooki begged him for a cracker. “We helped them move in. Pook here was just a pup then.”
“And you come even when - Bakugo - isn’t here?” Haruto asked grouchily.
“We come here all the time when they’re home alone,” Mina noted, scrolling through her phone. “We love hanging out with [Name].”
“Katsuki thinks I need protecting,” you chuckled. “So he sends in the heroes.”
“You do!” Hanta interjected.
You rolled your eyes. “From what?”
“From -”
“Pooki’s too cute to be handled alone, it’s dangerous!” Eijiro interrupted. He was wrestling with her now.
“You’re going to break something.”
Eijiro grinned. “Nah, besides -”
Pooki chomped down on his arm. A few of your friends gasped.
“Pooki!” Akari scolded. “Let him go -”
“It’s fine, she does this all the time. She thinks I’m a chew toy, see -” Eijiro hardened up his arm and moved to show the one in Pooki’s mouth. “She can’t hurt me.”
“Wait - you’re Red Riot. Aren’t you?”Akari realized.
Eijiro laughed. “You caught me! Guess my secret is out.”
“None of you are exactly hiding,” you stated, rolling your eyes. “Besides, I told you guys Katsuki was friends with heros.”
“All of you are?” Mei asked, glancing around.
“Chargebolt,” Denki announced, throwing a thumbs up and grinning.
“Pinky!” Mina laughed and held up a picture of her in costume.
“Cellophane,” Hanta said, beaming.
“Are any of you heros?” Eijrio asked.
You shook your head and smiled. “No. - We were put in the ‘Useless Quirk’ club.”
“I dunno, your quirks pretty cool. I’m surprised you didn’t work for the police,” Mina said.
You shrugged. “Wasn’t really into law enforcement. I’m happy running a shop.”
“[Name]’s right, though. None of us could ever make it as heros,” Haruto said. He seemed a little warmer to them now. “I can turn small objects into cubes, Akari can change her skin into whatever material she touches. Misato can make a flower sprout wherever she touches. But only one flower at a time. Yuto can change the color of his eyes, nails, hair, and teeth at will. While Mei can turn anything she touches red. And Sota, well -”
“Just say it,” Sota snapped. “I don’t have a quirk.”
It was tense and silent a moment. You wanted to hide. This was not going well.
Didn’t Katsuki tell them that your friends were coming over today?
Misato interrupted the quiet. “[Name], where are the facilities?”
“Uh - oh.” You were snapped out of your stupor. “That way and down the hall on the left.”
You couldn’t wait for Katsuki to come home.
Everybody rotated controllers. Each leaving on occasion to get water or use the bathroom.
Pooki followed everybody in and out of the room.
Everything seemed fine until Pooki started barking in the living room doorway.
You got up to see what was wrong, supposing it was just a delivery man you hadn’t heard ring the doorbell.
Instead, you followed her to the upstairs hallway. She stood with her nose pushed against the door to your nesting room.
“What’s wrong with you, silly girl?” you laughed. “If I show you there’s nothing wrong will you take a nap?”
You were not expecting the sight when you walked in. Torn blankets, charged clothes, broken pictures and knickknacks. Everything was ruined. Nothing in the room had gone untouched, except one pristine Ground Zero body pillow.
Pooki growled at your feet.
You stared. Your chest becoming a hollow cavity. So much had happened in this room. And all the fond memories held in the items were all ruined. You couldn’t stop the sob in your throat. Pooki rubbed against your leg.
You wiped at your tears. You didn’t even notice someone special had crept into the house.
“There’s my omega,” Katsuki’s voice said.
You flinched, eyeing him at the top of the stairs.
He halted in his pace when he saw your wet face. “What’s wrong? Who’s ass am I kicking?”
He came and wrapped you in his arms. You gestured to your room. As soon as he laid eyes on it, his scent became threatening, murderous.
“Yo man, you okay?” that was Eijiro, the only one brave enough to face Katsuki in this state. He was coming up the stairs.
Katsuki glared him down. “You and those idiots better not have done this.”
“Done wha -” Eijiro stopped short, staring in the room. “What happened? We’ve been downstairs all day.”
“You better not be lying -”
You stopped Katsuki. “It’s okay - alpha - I, I got this. Do you mind, Eijiro?”
Eijiro nodded. “Do what you got to.”
“Look me in the eyes.”
Eijiro did as he was instructed, and you activated your quirk. Your irises swirled with the whites of your eyes. Hypnotizing him.
“Tell me, Eijiro,” you started. “What was the purpose of your visit today? Was it to do this?”
“No,” he said robotically. “We came today because Katsuki invited us. He was worried your friends were up to something, so he sent us to watch over you. I had no part in what happened to your nest.”
You nodded and blinked, releasing him.
Eijiro blinked too, rubbing his temple. “I forgot how weird that felt. You haven’t done that since I told you Katsuki was going to ask you out. - But see. We were just here to watch out for you. Nothing more. We’re your friends [Name]. And it’s totally uncool to do this to a friend’s nest.”
Your heart sank. That meant only one thing then.
“I can go -” Katsuki started.
You shook your head. “They’re my….friends….I’ll do it.”
You took Katsuki’s hand and went to the living room. His sent still smelled like death walking.
“Everything okay?” Misato asked. “Hello, Bakugo.”
You nodded, then went to sit back between Akari and Haruto. Katsuki grunted, leaning on the doorframe with Eijiro beside him.
You waited a moment, then flinched and rubbed your eye.
“Ow - I think I have something in my eye. Can you look for me Haru?” you asked, and turned to him.
He twisted to face you. “Sure.”
You caught his eye and he realized what you were going to do. You activated your quirk before he could turn away.
“I really hate to do this. But - tell me, Haruto,” you sighed. “What was the purpose of your visit today? Was it you all who destroyed my nest?”
Mina gasped. “Wait, what?”
“Shit,” you heard Akari mutter under her breath.
Katsuki’s friends were tense, ready to tackle the first person to move and break your connection.
“We came today to see you. But also to wait for Katsuki to get home. We were going to destroy your nest, but frame him for it. That way you two would argue and break up. When his friends came, we decided to make it look like they did it. Then you’d break up with him because of his awful friends. I couldn’t bring myself to destroy anything, though. So I told Pooki to get you.”
“Wait, you ratted on us?!” Sota yelled.
“Why would you do that?” you asked, tears beginning to flood your vision.
“Because,” Haruto continued. “We wanted you back. We don’t see much of you. And Bakugo is too violent for you. He’s going to hurt you - like he does to the paparazzi and all those villains.”
You sobbed and hid your face in your hands, breaking the connection.
“We were just doing what was best for you -” Misato started.
“What would you know about what’s best for my omega?” Katsuki snapped, the thick scent of burnt caramel nearly suffocating. “Do you think hurting them like this was the best way to tell [Name] your concerns? Wouldn’t it have been better to sit them down, like normal people?! Also - you all are a bunch of fucking dunces if you think I’d ever hurt them!”
“Katsuki may have a temper, but you didn’t know him before he met [Name],” Eijiro said.
“But -” Haruto started.
“It’s true,” Denki countered. “He was totally different.”
“We didn’t even meet y’all before today, and we’re here a lot,” Mina noted. Katsuki uttered, too much under his breath. “So you obviously haven’t even made the effort to hang out with them both. And see for yourself how he is.”
“I think it’s time for you fuckers to leave,” Bakugo growled.
“We were only trying to help!” Mei shrieked.
“You were trying to solve a problem that didn’t exist!” you cried. “Just - leave. Please.”
“[Name]....” Haruto pleaded.
“Haru just - just go,” you sighed, watching as tears dripped onto the couch.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered and then got up.
Once they were gone, Katsuki changed into lounge clothes and sat next to you on the couch.
Mina and Eijiro moved from the floor to a regular seat. Hanta and Denki put the kitchen chairs back and went to occupy the empty spaces.
You curled up into his protective grasped, watching as they played the new game.
Your heart, though sad with your nest being ruined, felt full knowing that you’d always have Katsuki and his friends on your side.

EIJIRO KIRISHIMA
Tumblr media
Your mother hated the fact that you were an omega. She thought, with your parentage, you should have been an alpha.
Imagine her disgust and disappointment when you showed as an omega. The only in blood family to be.
Her rage grew when you met a hero named Red Riot once you joined an agency. An alpha with a musk like strawberry cream. He was just as sweet as he smelled.
Your mother had hoped you'd grow to be an alpha. Your scent changing, and your behavior.
Or even that you would take on alpha characteristics, even while biologically being an omega.
But you were still the same at twenty as you were at twelve when puberty hit and you emerged as an omega.
You may have been more adult in appearance and a little more patient. But you were just the same in many other aspects.
You'd taken to Red Riot right away. Although you tried not to be the clingy omega everyone else typed you as.
You didn't think he was into you. Even as he'd pat your head, and stand just close enough to rub a little scent on you.
He was Red Riot, after all. His face was all over the news, even as a first year in high school!
And you were...well, you.
Little did you know that he was just as taken.
But it wasn't just with your scent. You were gorgeous to him. And you were so kind with a smile that melted him. You'd made him so nervous the first time that he could only blurt out random facts. You found it endearing.
But none of this mattered to your family, especially your mother.
Some forgave your nature due to picking up a top hero. At least you were bonded to someone with status.
Your mother, however, had been furious when she met him. Hero or not, there was simply no way your family could be the type to be owned by someone.
It didn't matter how many times you explained that Eijiro didn't own you. She pitched fits, started arguments. Banned him from the house. She even started to lock you out!
Eijiro tried to apologize, and break it off with you. For your own good. But an explanation on the matter made him understand that nothing he did was going to help.
Not to mention, you were already so in love with him and he with you that he was quick to move you in with him.
His roommate, Ground Zero aka Katsuki Bakugo, didn't mind. As long as you "cleaned your shit up and didn't fucking bother him".
Getting your stuff was a different story.
You had to break into the house while everyone was away.
Luckily, the neighbors liked you and didn't call the cops.
Katsuki, Eijiro, and a few of your collective friends had you all moved out in a matter of hours.
The rest was history.
You knew your mother had been trying to find you for months. But you'd changed your number and gotten a new phone. Your hair was different now, and Eijiro bought you clothes you actually liked.
You were everything you wanted to be. Everything your mother hated.
But Eijiro loved you more every day. Watching you grow and become the person you were meant to be.
You were helping him grow too. And Katsuki, not like he'd ever admit it. But he did like you. And didn't mind having you as a roommate.
The trouble came a day in late autumn, both the alphas of the house were out. You were home alone, taking a week off for the impending nesting that was coming.
Katsuki was at work, and Eijiro had taken the day off to be with you. He'd run to get some groceries and supplies to keep in your nest.
With you smelling like heat, he was afraid you'd get harassed if you when on your own.
You'd been meticulously fiddling with your nest all day. Trying to get it just right, and make it big enough for two.
You'd thought nothing of it when there was a knock on the door. You'd ordered food for when the guys got back.
But, instead of a delivery person, there stood your mother. Her face unreadable.
You tried to slam the door in her face but she stuck her shoe in. She shoved the door back open, and invited herself in. Pushing you back into the apartment.
"I finally found you. You gave us all quite the scare there." Her voice dripped with the same venom you'd heard villains shout at you with. "What the hell are you wearing? And look what you did to your lovely hair!"
"Get. Out." you growled. "You are not welcome in my home."
"Home?" she laughed. "Smells like a brothel in here. You little whore. I can smell more than just your…hero...here. Look what that little red rat has turned you into -"
"That's his roommate! He already lived here when I moved in! It's not like that!"
She started to open all the doors. "Right. That's what you say now, at least. You are just a needy little omega. Just a bitch in heat. And, sooner or later, you're going to want any alpha you can knot you. Maybe even a few of them at the same time - This your nest?"
Your mother shoved open the door to room that homed your nest. The scent of Eijiro flooding out. He'd gone a little overboard with the scenting.
"It looks warm...cozy... it'd be a shame if someone ruined it all."
You stood in the doorway glaring her down. "Don't you fucking -"
"Then come back home," she snapped, narrowing her eyes at you. "Drop that sickeningly sweet alpha. And move. Back. Home. We can teach you how to be an alpha. How to let people not push you around. Look - you let me walk straight into your apartment. And you haven't laid a finger on me!"
"That's because I know you. I use my quirk and you go to the press about your abusive hero child. You'll blacken my name."
"Would I ever -"
"Yes! You would! I remember when you didn't like uncle's second wife! You smudged her name, destroyed her reputation so much she went into hiding! - I'm not going to let you do that to me."
"So you're moving back, good. Pac -"
You took a step towards her. "I'm not moving back either!"
"Fine!" your mother shouted. "Be the pathetic, useless omega you are!"
Your mother had an air quirk, she could make tornados. She kicked one up in the small room, sending objects flying. You ducked as a poster Eijiro bought you flew towards you in its metal frame.
It landed and broke somewhere in the living room.
You dove, hiding behind the couch. More things came flying. You heard clanking and shattering. You covered your ears and pinched your eyes closed tightly, a sob welling up in your chest.
You didn't hear the front door open. You didn't see them come in. You didn't notice as it went quiet.
Then a hand was on your arm. You screamed, the waves sending the person flying across the room.
"Hey," the person coughed. "Hey, [Name], it's okay! I-I-It's me!"
You opened your eyes, spying Eijiro standing up from the kitchen floor.
"Eiji!" you yelled, launching yourself into his arms. That's when the big tears began to flow and the sobs started. "Sh-She - and I - omega - useless - nest -"
"Hey, easy, I'm here now," Eijiro cooed. He wrapped his arms around you and squeezed you tightly. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. I should've been here. It wasn't supposed to take that long. Wasn't very manly to leave you alone for so long. But I got mobbed by fans at the store. Katsuki came home early and called me, he's dealing with her...I've got you."
Eijiro rubbed on you, scenting you with the comfort pheromones pumping out of him.
"You fucking bitch!" Katsuki roared. "I'll fucking kill you. - Doesn't matter if they aren't my mate. - You trashed my fucking house!"
You chuckled into Eijiro's chest. The pheromones finally starting to work.
"Get moving!" Katsuki yelled. You watched as he shoved her out the room towards the front door. He had your mother in power dampening cuffs. "I'll take her to the police. You're going away for vandalism and destruction of property. You crazy bitch!"
"This is your fault [Name]! I'll ruin you all. You'll never be 'heroes' again -" your mother shrieked.
Katsuki shoved her. "Yeah, yeah, we've heard it all before. - Move!"
When they were out the door Eijiro chuckled, "And I would've gotten away with it, too, if it weren't for you meddling kids."
You chuckled, relaxing into Eijiro's embrace. But the damp, sad scent coming from you was undeniable.
"We'll fix it -"
You pulled away. "But she ruined everything. Come look."
You took his hand, guiding him to your nesting room. The tears came again as you looked around.
The pillows had stuffing bursting from them. The blankets were nothing more than shredded fabric and batting. Trinkets he bought you were broken and embedded in the walls. Picture frames were cracked, the glass shattered. Clothes were just tatters now.
You weren't getting that security deposit back.
"Everything is gone," you wheezed.
Eijiro wrapped his arms around you, tucking your head under his chin. He held you tightly.
"I should've been here to stop this, I'm so sorry. - We'll fix it, I promise. We'll make it better."

MOMO YAOYOROZU
Tumblr media
Momo was the kind of alpha every omega wanted. She was kind, patient, and overly nurturing.
Momo went a little crazy when it came to your nesting. She had an entire fucking treehouse built, and had dozens of the lushest blankets and pillows imported.
She was a spoiler.
Your happiness and comfort was her number one priority. Even if you begged her to stop spending so much on you.
But Creati's love knew no bounds. Neither did her spending habits.
So it pained her when, after a lovely day together, she had to sit you down in your nest and break a bit of bad news.
"[Name] you know I love you, right?" Momo asked. You were curled up under her chin. Nose against the rose-scented gland in her neck.
You hummed, squeezing her tightly. She gently pushed you away. "Mocchan, what's wrong?"
She smoothed a hand through your hair. "I'm having some old classmates over for some really important hero business tomorrow."
"Oh," you muttered. "You don't want me around."
"It's not that I don't want you around!" she panicked. "It's just really important and top secret, and you...can't know what's going on. Not yet. And unless it's super important, we can't have any interruptions."
You nodded, a little sad. But you understood. It was crucial hero stuff. "Okay, Momo, I won't bother you guys. I'll stay in my nesting tree."
She smiled, wrapping you back up again. Momo was going to make sure she gave you extra love tonight. To make up for the following day.
The next morning, it was starting to get cloudy when Bakugo, Kirishima, and Todoroki showed up at Momo's door.
You two had just finished brunch, so you went to hide in your nest. You had everything you needed to keep occupied in there.
Momo took the group to the dining room and shut all the doors. Then drew the curtains. If they were so sure their agencies were bugged, she didn't understand why they were having this meeting at her house.
Then again, it didn't really matter. Todoroki was a close friend, but it was more than that. The four of them went through hell together in high school. They'd go through hell together now.
They locked down, ready to plan for whatever was coming.
Momo made sure she sent food out to you. Cause she knew you'd forget to eat. While she had the house make tea and snacks for her and the guys.
They sat for hours, mauling over all the information they had.
The sky outside got darker and darker.
Before you knew it, it was thundering and lightening. The rain was sheeting down. The winds howled frighteningly outside.
It was dark out when you fell asleep. You didn't know what time.
Your tree rumbling and groaning woke you up sometime later though. Trinkets vibrated off the walls, crashing to the ground.
You panicked, wanting it to stop. You didn’t know what was happening.
Then there was a huge CA-RACK and you along with everything in the room flew towards one wall.
Before you knew it, you were covered by pieces of wood, glass shards, and ripped pillows. You could see the grass under you.
You groaned crawling out from the debris into the rain. Something sharp caught your calf and cut you all the way down. You hissed.
You stumbled into the open. The treehouse was in shambles. The tree split in half. And your darling nest and building were scattered all over the yard.
Nothing was salvageable. You would've cried if you weren't pumped full of adrenaline.
"Does this qualify as important?" you wondered aloud. But the stinging in your leg gave you the answer. You didn't want to look down at the cut. Too afraid of what you'd find.
You trailed blood, rain, and mud through the marble halls as you found the dining room.
You could hear them inside, but couldn't understand what they were saying.
Your heart was pounding. You felt bad interrupting.
"Are you alright? - The mistress will want to know about this. I do believe that needs stitches," said the butler outside the door. His eyes were wide, staring at the gash on your leg.
You nodded, swallowing thickly. Then pushed open the door to pop your head in.
"Uh, Mocchan…" you muttered weakly.
Todoroki turned to you. His mouth settled into a hard line. His forehead creased in worry.
You smiled at him weakly and waved.
Two pairs of eyes watched you from the other side of the table. You didn't really know them, but you knew who they were.
You waved at them too.
Her back was to you. "[Name], I told you -"
Momo stopped as she turned to you. Her eyes grew wide at the blood trickling down your face.
Momo pulled you into the room. You whimpered at the sick pain shooting through your leg. She moved the papers around and sat you on the table.
"Are you okay? - Well obviously not. - Why do you look like this, [Name]? What happened?! I thought you were in the treehouse -"
You were caught off guard by a sob in your throat. "It's all gone."
"Gone?! What do you mean it's gone?!" Momo began to make gauze, a towel, and wipes for your leg. You hissed as she sopped up some blood then wiped the cut down. But she kept fumbling as she tried to wrap it.
She couldn't take her eyes off the puddle of blood that had dripped on the floor.
"I - I don't know. The tree just...broke? And everything just…" You made an explosion noise. "It's all gone…"
The adrenaline pumping through Momo made her shakey. The gauze was just not wrapping.
"Dude, I think you should go to the hospital!" Kirishima said.
"Can I?" Todoroki asked.
He gestured to your leg, then glanced between the two of you. You both nodded. He put your foot on his stomach and began to wrap the cut up tightly.
Momo held your hand, not wanting to be away from you.
"Sorry I'm muddy," you muttered.
Todoroki shook his head. "It's fine, I wash. But you really should get to the er."
"But your meeting -"
"Screw the meeting," snapped the blonde behind you. "The three of us can stay here. Ponytail, get your omega to a doctor."
You pouted. "But Momo -"
Momo wrapped you immediately in her arms as Todoroki stepped away. She squeezed you tightly, her face pressing her face into your neck. "No, you're going. They're right. That looks bad. And we need to get your head looked. You could have a concussion."
"I'm sorry I got blood on the floor."
Momo laughed sadly. "Stop that. It's fine."
You wiped at the tears on her face as she pulled away. But it didn't help when you were wet from the rain.
Momo began wiping at your face too. She tried to absorb the blood trickling down your forehead.
"Let's get you a hospital."
Momo hauled you up on her back and piggybacked you out to the waiting car, although you offered to walk.
She was tense and silent for the whole ride. Gripping your hand as though you might slip away from her.
You arrived and were quickly put up in a room.
When the doctor came in he checked you over, confirming the need for stitches on your leg.
They simply cleaned up the cut on your forehead and used a bit of liquid stitch to keep it from bleeding again.
After your leg was stitched up, you were taken to be scanned and examined.
"You're lucky," the doctor said, looking over your results. "No internal bleeding or injuries. No broken bones. No concussion. Just some strained muscles. You can go home tonight. Make sure you keep your leg clean, the stitches can come out in four to six weeks. I’ll caution you against strenuous activity in the meantime, you don’t want to tear those. We’ll send you with some pain medication, you can take it as instructed."
You weren't surprised at the verdict of nothing being broken. That was your quirk after all - indestructible bones.
They were made of light but durable material with complex structures that made them very hard to break.
That didn't do much for your skin or organs though.
You and Momo thanked the doctor. The relief was visible on your alpha’s face.
She piggybacked you to the car again.
"You can sleep with my tonight, if you want to,” Momo said once you two were settled. She put an arm around you to tug you into a side hug. “I'm sorry you went through that alone. That must've been scary."
"We couldn't know that would happen," you whispered, hugging her back.
She kissed the top of your head. “We can rebuild, make everything better -”
“I’d rather have a room in the manor to make my nest. If that’s okay?”
You couldn’t see it, but Momo was crying again. “Of course. I want to keep you close.”
When you arrived back at the manor, you waited briefly on a couch outside of the dining room. Momo was catching up with what the guys had come up with.
They wished you well before leaving.
“Let’s go get you cleaned up.” Momo guided you to her bathroom and ran a bath in the large clawfoot tub.
You undressed and climbed in, then Momo did the same. You leaned back against her, her chin on your shoulder.
The warm water untensed all your knotted muscles.
Momo held you closely. “I promise, I’ll never leave you alone again.”

MINA ASHIDO
Tumblr media
Mina loved Denki to death, he was one of her best friends. But he just did not treat his poor omega right.
Mina thought she could do it better.
She'd wanted to court you long before Denki did. She was just too nervous.
What if you didn't want a female alpha?
Honestly, she seared with jealousy when you came into work freshly scented like him.
You were happy. So that made her happy.
But your rose colored glasses didn't last long. Mina saw through your facade immediately.
You didn't smile as brightly whenever Chargebolt came in.
You didn't happily call him "alpha" as you'd done before.
In fact, you nearly hid every time you saw him.
And it didn't take long before Mina saw why - Denki seemed to think omega was equal to pack mule who bends to every whim.
He made you carry his stuff, then would pat your head and baby talk you.
He was always having you get stuff. And brag about how good you were. But complain that you were whinier than he'd expected.
Mina hadn't heard you complain about his actions once!
She didn't think it was her place to tell you to break up with him. But all the hints she tried to slip Denki about how he was treating you went in one ear and out the other.
She wasn't the only one to see it either. But she was the only one who bothered to help.
It pained her to watch you. To see you struggling to keep a smile on.
"I don't think it works like that," you told her when Mina finally told you to cut it off. "I don't think omegas can break it off with alphas."
"You are a strong, independent omega, [Name]," Mina scolded. "You need to stand up for yourself. You can do whatever you want. You're still your own person."
Honestly, you hadn't really even wanted Denki as your alpha. But no one else had shown an interest in you. Especially not Mina. Not in your mind, anyway.
Mina had been the one you wanted to court you. But Denki came along first. And he was kind of pushy.
So you accepted. It didn't take you long to regret it.
Nothing about it felt right. You felt like a maid, not a mate. You were pretty sure that wasn't what an alpha was supposed to make you feel like.
Denki couldn't even relax you. He didn't seem like he wanted to help you with your issues at all.
In fact, he made it all worse.
Denki had even invited himself and his friends to your apartment. Only giving you a day's notice.
He wasn't going to help with food or cleaning. He laughed and said that you could figure it out.
You were at your wits end.
You were Starlight, one of the top heroes in your agency. Not a doormat.
Still, you scrambled to clean. Mina came over to help. You tried to get food and snacks together. You updated your gaming system. Pulled out any movies and board games you could find.
Your house was visitor friendly by the time the weekend rolled around.
You'd never actually met three people who came. But you knew of them. Each being heroes that were in class with Mina and Denki during high school.
You'd also run into them when you were out with Denki. But he didn't have the courtesy to introduce you.
They introduced themselves as Bakugo, Kirishima, and Sero.
"Are you sure you're cool with this?" Kirishima asked, lingering in the doorway. Denki was already being loud with the other two.
"Would you shut up? We just got here," Bakugo snapped.
You shrugged. "I guess I have to be. Right?"
Kirishima's face twisted up into something between disapproving and pitying.
He hesitated before going into the living room. You saw him speak briefly with Mina. Their eyes flicking to you every now and then.
"I didn't know you had all these, Denk," Sero noted, flipping through your game library.
Denki shrugged coolly. "Yeah, you know -"
"Don't let him fool you," Mina interrupted. "Those are [Name]'s. Denki doesn't even have the newest generation console."
"Yeah, Denki's is an old brick," you joked.
"Baabbbee," he whined.
The guys chuckled, and you caught Denki's face flush red.
"Whatever, it's not that impressive," he huffed and stalked off to the kitchen.
You watched quietly after.
"You guys can play whatever you want," you offered. "I don't get to very often. So don't worry about copying over any saves. - Denki did that on the one game I did play…"
You trailed off awkwardly, earning you weird looks.
"I'll get snacks."
Mina trailed after you when there was a crash.
Denki was standing in the middle of the kitchen, staring at the plate of food he dropped.
"Uh, sorry. You mind cleaning that up? Thanks. Oh and don't forget to bring out some sodas for everyone. Love you!" Then he ran to join Sero and Bakugo in the living room.
"I'll help you," Mina said, and you pointed her to the broom closet.
"That was super unmanly," Kirishima noted, grabbing some paper towels. "Does he always do this?"
"Uh, n -" you stuttered.
"All. The. Time," Mina groaned quietly.
You sighed, taking a few paper towels. "Mina, don't -"
"But you don't deserve to be treated this way!" She aggressively swept across the kitchen.
"Mina's got a point, dude. He's my friend, but it's super uncool of him -"
"The hell happened here?" Bakugo grunted.
"Denki." You three said in unison.
Bakugo rolled his eyes. "You got anything to drink?"
"I was going to - I can -" you started, beginning to stand. You hissed as a piece of plate cut your palm.
"I can get it myself, just tell me where it's at. I'm a grownass adult."
Mina stood carefully. "I'll get you a band-aid. Bathroom cabinet, right?"
You nodded at her, then pointed to the fridge. "Whatever I have is in there. Sorry it's not much. I wasn't sure what you all liked and Denki refused to go to the store with me -"
"He's kind of a crappy alpha, isn't he?" Sero asked joining the party in your small kitchen. "Don't worry. He's watching a tutorial on how to play the game."
"You know, if you're not happy with him, you can dump his dumb ass," Bakugo noted. He tossed Sero a soda can. "Just because he's an alpha doesn't mean that he gets to decide everything."
Kirishima stood and dumped the paper towels of food you'd both collected in the trash can, before washing his hands. "Yeah, it's your relationship too."
He then grabbed the broom and began sweeping.
"He's our friend but he's being an idiot, we're on your side." Sero gave you a grin and a thumbs up.
"Uh, thanks, guys," you muttered.
"I finally found you a bandage," Mina announced. "Let me see your hand."
You stood and put your hand in hers, palm up. The touch put you at ease.
"It doesn't look too bad. Let's clean you up."
You let her lead you to the sink and wash your hand. Then she dried it and put antiseptic ointment on it before sticking the band-aid over it.
Your whole body filled with heat as she kissed the back of your hand. Then she grinned at you.
The guys could feel and smell the shift as soon as Mina started taking care of you.
It was unvocalized but unanimous - you needed to dump Denki for Mina.
Once the kitchen was clean again, everyone crowded the living room.
"Hey, babe, it's kind of chilly. You got any blankets?" Denki asked.
You shook your head. "No."
"But I'm coollldd," Denki groaned.
"I haven't washed blankets in a while."
He groaned, but conceded as you sat close to him.
After a bit, your body heat didn't seem to be effective enough for him.
Denki got up and disappeared. You didn't think anything of it.
No until he came out into the living room a few minutes later with a pile of pillows and blankets. Special ones.
Your heart stopped. "D-Denki...where did you get those?"
"These? Oh - the second bedroom. So much for not having any clean -"
You bolted to the spare room. You couldn't believe your eyes. You sank to the ground. He'd ruined the carefully crafted nest you'd been building for years.
"Hey, [Name], are you okay?" Mina asked softly behind you.
"My nest," you uttered. Tears welled up, threatening to spill.
Mina put a hand on your shoulder. Getting immediately what you meant.
"Hey, babe, can you -" Denki started.
You shot him a glare. He stopped in his tracks.
"What's wrong with you?" he asked incredulously.
"You ruined their nest, idiot!" Mina snapped. A glare beaming from her dark eyes. "What the fuck is your problem, Denki?! You have like...the most perfect omega, and this is how you treat them?!"
Your heart leapt, heat rushing into your face at the words.
"What're you talking about? [Name] is happy to -"
"No," you sobbed. "I'm not. I'm not your maid. I'm supposed to be your mate. But…"
"You treat [Name] like garbage!" Mina kneeled to wrap an arm around your shoulders.
"But you're my omega -" he started, a little desperation in his voice.
"No!" you yelled. "Not...not anymore. We're done. Just - get out!"
"But -"
"Out!" Your eyes flashed a deadly shade of blue-white.
You leaned into Mina. She sighed, and held you tightly. She was pumping out comfort pheromones.
You eased right away. Nothing like this had happened with Denki.
"Fine. C'mon guys, let go -" he started.
"Not them," you sniffled. "Just you. They can stay if they want."
Denki held a smug face until he realized no one was going with him. "Oh come on guys!"
"Sorry, dude," Sero said awkwardly.
Kirishima shrugged. "But you did kind of treat them like dirt."
"You're a dumbass," Bakugo snapped, not even looking up from the game. "You fried your brain one too many times."
Denki looked like he wanted to say something snarky.
"Denki, dude. You fucked up," Mina said over her shoulder. "Just...leave. You already ruined [Name]'s nest."
"Fine!" he pouted and slammed the front door as he left.
"Can I see your phone, please?" Mina asked softly. You handed it to her, just in time to have Denki call. He was too predictable. She rejected the call and blocked his number.
“I guess I can always rebuild it,” you muttered. “I need to wash everything. It reeks like him.”
Mina nodded. “I’ll help.”
You and Mina spent the day washing all the sheets and shirts and blankets that had been in your nest.
You were more content around her than you’d been in a while. You hadn’t realized that she didn’t mind you being glued to her side.
Even when she made sure to stay late into the night so you could finish your nest.
You didn’t even question letting her in, it felt like the most natural decision in the world.

5 ☾  i don’t want you to hurt me anymore

note 2: feel free to message me about the story, or ask my characters anything hehe. my account is also open to fake text requests/imagines <3 i’m bored these days lol
word count: 2,627
At the doctor’s surprising news, both Yoongi and Jungkook froze. Yoongi did not know what to say, so he turned to the spot next to him, only to realize that Jin, who had left to go to the nurse at the reception, was not there. He didn’t know how to react, especially when Jungkook was the one standing by him right now.
Jungkook himself was much more confused than he looked. He looked at Yoongi questioningly. How were you pregnant when he knew that your relationship was on the rocks before your divorce even happened? He thought the worst case scenario and blurted it out without thinking.
“She cheated on you?” He asked.
Yoongi and the doctor both turned to him in shock at his question.
Yoongi furiously shook his head. “No, she couldn’t have.” The silence after that was deafening.
“How far along did you say she was?” He turned to the doctor.
The man looked scanned through his clipboard again to make sure he had the right timeline.
“We estimate that she’s about two months along.”
2 months. That’s around the time they were completing the divorce procedures. Yoongi tries to think back on how you could have ended up pregnant. Your started becoming distant some time around August when he was getting closer and closer to Yura. Your intimacy lessened as time passed, but he knew that you couldn’t have cheated on him. What had happened in the beginning of September?
After a minute or two, his eyes widened after he finally realized what happened between them that was most likely the conception date for the pregnancy.
He remembers a warm night in the beginning of September, where he came home late and you were waiting on the couch with a finished wine glass on the table.
Flashback
By the time he had gotten home, it was obvious that you were drunk and the drunk you had a lot of words to say. He couldn’t really tell what you were saying because you started crying as soon as the words came out of her mouth, but he knew that you were upset at him. So upset that you had broken down on the floor sobbing. He’d knelt down on the floor and cupped your cheeks and lifted your face up to meet his. Your eyes were bloodshot and teary and all he heard from you at this point were sniffles and sobs.
“What’s wrong, baby? Why are you crying?” He asked, wiping the tears falling down her cheeks.
Those words had only made you cry harder.
“Because you don’t love me anymore.” You cried out in between sniffles.
The look on Yoongi’s face was a mixture of shock and hurt, but you couldn’t tell why. You were the one who was hurt, so why was he showing you a face like that?
“No, no, no baby. Who told you that? Why would you ever think that? I love you so much.” Yoongi had said to you as he desperately tried to wipe the tears that continued to flow from your eyes.
“It’s true, though, isn’t it? You don’t love me anymore and you’re with that girl from your company. You take her to all of your parties, you take her to dinners with your friends. You don’t have me in your heart anymore. Your friends don’t like me. Especially Jungkook. I don’t even know why. I’m sure even your parents don’t like me. Why do you guys hate me so much? Why does God hate me? Why would he do that to me? Am I not enough? Am I not worthy of receiving any sort of fucking love in this life?” At this point, you were practically yelling. Your lungs burned from crying and talking so much but you couldn’t really tell because the alcohol made you focus on your tears and dizziness and the man in front of you instead.
Yoongi’s eyes softened, then his brows furrowed, as if he was confused. What was there to be confused about? He hurt you, but he looked like he was the one who was hurt in this situation.
“Why do you look like that?” you asked. “Why do you look like you’re the one who got your heart broken when I’m the one who’s waiting at home for you and you don’t even have the decency to tell me where you are, or who you’re with or what time you’re coming home. Why do you get to fucking look like you’re hurt when I’m the one who has to watch you and all your fucking friends and family swoon over that woman. I’m your wife! And all I can do is sit at home and wait for you to fucking care about me. This is not how I want to live, Yoongi. I don’t deserve to be hurt like this. Not after what happened. Please, I’m so tired. It hurts so fucking much, Yoongi. Why are you doing this to me?” The crying only continued until you couldn’t breathe anymore.
Yoongi pulled your form into a tight hug, and held you like it was his dying wish. You didn’t know if you heard it properly but you thought he was crying. And he was. There were tears in his eyes because he knew that what you were saying was valid. Extremely. And he couldn’t really refute it because it was true, but that didn’t mean that he didn’t love you.
He stroked your hair until you calmed down a little more and that’s when he finally got a word in.
“Baby, I’m so sorry. I’m so fucking sorry that you had to go through that. I love you so much that it hurts my heart when I think about not having you in my life. You’re my everything and you were with me from the start, of course you have a place in my heart. You own it. I’m sorry I made you feel that way but please don’t ever doubt my love for you. Yura, she’s nothing. She’s just my friend. And you said you didn’t want to go to the parties. Jungkook and Yura are friends and they get along so that’s why I bring her. She’s become one of my closest friends but that’s just what she is. A friend. I love you, not her.”
You and Yoongi both know that he wasn’t being truthful, but you let it be because he was saying things you wanted him to say. He was reassuring you of his love for you, and even if it wasn’t true, it still gave you some temporary relief.
He put his face on the crook of your neck and muttered a million ‘sorrys’ before you moved to put your hand on his back.
“You hurt me. I don’t want you to hurt me anymore, Yoongi. I love you so much that it makes me hate myself. You made me suffer so much these past months.”
“I know, baby, and I won’t do it again. I love you so much. I’ll try harder, okay? I’ll go home earlier and I won’t go to the parties anymore. I don’t want to give up on our marriage. I want to be with you.”
The night of crying and venting out the hurt and shame and tears had ended in the both of you tangled up in bed all night, probably making up for the pain that was caused. Yoongi didn’t remember much of that night because it hurt him to think about it, but of the amount of times you had made love that night under the moonlight, one of them undoubtedly got you pregnant. He never used protection with you and that was only because he knew you were on birth control, but he had never thought about you getting pregnant, especially not after the fact that it was only a week and a half later when his lawyers brought the divorce papers to you.
End flashback
Being reminded of that night made Yoongi feel queasy. In his heart, he knew that he had told you that truth when he said he loved you and that he wanted to save your marriage, but he was tired. And you were growing distant. Both of you. He could never bring you out anywhere and you always got mad when he went with someone else, or when he was with Jungkook. Yura was there and she was so nice and bubbly and happy, and being with her made him happy. Though you both tried, the arguments increased and his frustrations bubbled until he finally decided to tell his lawyer to draw up the divorce papers.
Yoongi snapped back to the present and looked up at the doctor.
“Yeah, two months sound about right. How is she doing? How is the baby doing?” He asked.
“The fetus is doing pretty well considering the accident. We’re surprised she didn’t suffer a miscarriage because of the impact of the crash, but I guess this can be considered a miracle. To reiterate, Miss y/n is okay, just suffering from a head wound and multiple lacerations and bruises. For the next couple of days, bruises might become more prominent. We’ll be doing MRIs to check on brain activity, especially because of her head wound. Just to check if everything is okay. We don’t know how long she’ll stay unconscious for, but we’re hopeful that she’ll wake up within a couple of days, a week at most.” The doctor stated.
Yoongi nodded absentmindedly. He was quiet for some time until Jungkook spoke up.
“Are we allowed to see her?” He asked.
The doctor nodded. “Yes, you can see her. I think they’ll have wheeled her into her room right now. You can just go through that door. It’s a hallway that winds around so you’ll end up on the other side. I believe she’ll be in room 3. We only allow one visitor to stay overnight.”
“Ok, thank you so much, sir. We’ll wait for her cousin first before going to see her.” Jungkook stated.
“Thank you, doctor.” Yoongi said with a small but dull smile on his face. He truly was thankful. He didn’t know if he would have ever known that he would be a father if it wasn’t for this accident and the doctor. As sick as it sounds, he was somehow grateful that he was your emergency contact.
“It’s no problem at all. Since you are her emergency contact, we will be updating you on her progress and if anything should happen, but right now, things are looking up. Don’t worry too much. She’s alive and so is your baby. It’s a miracle.” The doctor smiled at Yoongi before waving goodbye.
Yoongi and Jungkook sat back down on the chairs trying to sink the information into their heads.
The accident. You. Near-death and pregnant. It all seemed like some sort of crazy movie plot.
“So, she didn’t cheat on you? That’s your child that she’s carrying?” Jungkook’s voice rang in Yoongi’s ears.
The accusations are ridiculous, he knows that. That’s his child that was in your belly. There was no doubt about it, and yet, for some reason, it made him feel strange.
Yoongi nodded to answer his question.
“I thought you said you guys weren’t close leading up to the divorce?” Jungkook questioned.
Yoongi shook his head. “Not for a while, but something happened. I don’t really want to talk about it in detail, but it was emotional and it got the better of both of us. It was the week before the divorce papers.”
“Oh, when you stopped coming to the parties after work, huh?”
“Yeah.”
Silence followed and stayed until the both of them heard heavy footsteps coming up to them. They look up to see Jin fast-walking to them, with a nurse trailing behind him. The same nurse who had led Yoongi here.
“She told me that they were letting visitors in for y/n, now. Did the doctors tell you anything?” He asked.
Yoongi’s face blanked. Jungkook looked at him and back at Jin and nodded.
“Let’s head to her room first and we’ll tell you what he told us.” He said.
The three of them followed the nurse around the hallway to the other side of the operating room. The walk was short, but the silence dragged on until the creaking of the door opening was all they could hear.
Yoongi walked in first and the moment he saw you, he felt sick to his stomach. Your body, pale and bruised, was covered in bandages from head to toe. Half of your head was wrapped in gauze. For the head injury, he’s assuming. There were multiple wires and needles connected to your hands. He had never, ever seen you, or anyone like this before. And it broke his heart, and then the guilt started to seep in.
He walked up to your unconscious body and took your hand, covered in all sorts of wires, in his. Somehow it felt unreal, but as the seconds passed and as his eyes passed over your still form, the reality of the accident and the pregnancy settled on his mind and in his heart.
He felt someone come up behind him and from his peripheral he can identify Jin. He looked about ready to cry, much like how Yoongi did at this moment.
“What did the doctor say?” Jin asked.
Jungkook stayed back, leaning against the door. He waited for Yoongi to answer but his eyes were locked on your body, so he decided to just speak up in place of his hyung.
“The doctor said she’s ok and is expected to wake up in the next couple of days or a week at most. No heavy damage, apparently.”
Yoongi mumbled something as he stroked your bruised fingers. Jin turned to look at him.
“What?”
“She’s pregnant.” Yoongi said, louder this time.
Jin’s eyes widened almost comically. “Pregnant, how in the hell is she pregnant? I think I would know if she was having a kid with somebody.”
“It’s mine.”
“No. There’s no way. You are divorced, and you hurt her. She would have never let you touch her when you hurt her as much as you did.” Jin’s voice got louder and louder, and the guilt that was planted in the pit of Yoongi’s stomach bloomed.
“Yeah, I know. It was one time and we were both emotionally wrecked. I made promises to her that I couldn’t keep and now here we are. But that’s my fucking kid, you can’t tell me otherwise.” Yoongi tried to keep his tone respectful, as Jin was older than him and was one of the most prominent people in your life, but he could only take so much criticism. Jin’s talked to him as if he ruined your life. As if he killed you.
“It’s her child. When she wakes up, she won’t want anything to do with you. You hurt her beyond anything you could probably even imagine in your little brain. You were off doing god knows what when she was suffering at home. That’s not your kid. It might be yours biologically, but you ruined all the chances you had of being a dad when you broke y/n’s heart.”
Every word Jin said was like a knife to his heart. It fed the flower of guilt and made it grow. When he thought about it, he couldn’t really argue because what he said was true. You were a unit before, but when he had promised to try harder, he didn’t and now you’re divorced and pregnant and you hate him and you two will be parents but in a broken family.

Superimposing the Navamsa (D9) chart
I was practising with my own chart, wanting to see how the energies work and all, since my Libra rising is same in both I don’t particularly need to worry about that, some placements that have stood out while doing this is: Sun in Taurus (D1) becomes Sun in Capricorn (D9), the obvious themes of 8th house gets funnelled down into a focus towards the 4th house (which makes sense because goddamn I want a decent home-life after I’m older) and it can be seen like that too but just seeing the placements also helps. Capricorn is 9th from Taurus, not counting the zodiac placement for a moment, Sun is doing decently well here (it likes the 9th house) but the Saturnian influence can be oppressive, delayed, almost suffocating. It does make sense, Sun in D1 isn’t doing that great in my chart and often times, in order to escape from my father’s oppression & distressing control over me I often look at my Higher Studies & Foreign Lands, both of which I KNOW I must pursue to shake off the shadows of my father’s control over my life, it’s kinda the only way I can get away. My approach towards Higher Studies is also very traditional, in a sense that I’m planning to go the whole way and get a few Masters, even a PHD if I’m able to. Don’t get me wrong, studying drains me and it feels like I have to be fully disciplined in order to succeed but I always feel the subtle responsibility to pursue this path. I MUST, if I don’t succeed in my studies, then what’s the worth of me? (The themes of self-worth = continuous need for material success/recognition that comes with Capricorn Sun) Jupiter in Taurus (D1) becomes Jupiter in Cancer (D9), the obvious themes of Jupiter in the 8th house of learning and developing more insight of deeper, dark themes, even occult gets translated later in the 10th house, as maybe, some sort of teacher/guru figure in the public eye concerning these issues. This is probably one of the placements that give me some hope in life, lol. More specifically though, Cancer is 3rd from Taurus. It all ties up. I’ve always wanted to be a writer, majorly interested in writing, and still I’ve always felt like I wanted to dig into my emotions, the stuff that I encountered while living with my family and in my homeland, I’ve always felt like I’ve wanted to be a new pioneer writer from Nepal, let’s say. The thing is, in my current life just figuring out my D1, I’ve always felt like my writing career was going to be reserved for later in life, after I’ve accumulated enough skill and knowledge (might explain why I’m not fully ready or skilled enough to tackle subjects I want to), I want to help people with my words, my communication, I don’t know how I’m going to but that is definitely on my bucket-list/life goals to achieve if I survive long enough. Saturn in Taurus (D1) becomes Saturn in Pisces (D9), asides from the obvious Saturn being in the 8th house & 6th house making it beneficial in a way that it suppresses a lot of the malefic parts of each house, both effects I’ve seen through observation of my life (You might argue that Saturn’s effect isn’t fully there, especially not of the D9, don’t @me I’ve been going through both a Saturn Mahadasha and Sade Sati for a w h i l e). Pisces is 11th from Taurus. The lack that comes from Taurus Saturn especially with stability, basic needs and the sense of home is very prominent witth Saturn’s touch, the only way I’ve ever been able to restore any sense of that is through the larger networks of the 11th house, friends, strangers, the internet and in general too, those have played a role in shaping my larger identity with groups. One of the key reasons why I relate and feel a sense of belonging from foreign lands and people (especially overseas as Pisces is the original 12th house, it talks about universally feeling almost) largely gets explained by these placements. The darker side of this was also present, because of the lack of beauty, money and self of inner worth (Taurus themes) my larger friend group had completely dissolved, abandoned and I was largely isolated from connecting with friends in school & society (Pisces themes), the only way I managed to get out to that was through fictional escapism, creative pursuits & greater understanding of empathy and emotions (Pisces themes again) that eventually led (is leading at least) to a sense of stability in personal worth. I was also going through a whole “ugly duckling” phase that largely and negatively restricted my feelings of self-worth.  So yeah, this has been the post with my three placements. I wasn’t kidding when I said I had a Taurus stellium. Keep in mind, though, I haven’t really included the conjunctions and aspects that would come with bringing planets from the Navamsa and comparing it with the Natal chart. You can learn more from here.

Sen Çal Kapımı ep 48 asks
THE EPISODE WHERE THEY FINALLY GOT MARRIED!!!!!!!
SERKAN AND EDA ARE MARRIED!!
FINALLY!
YES!!!!!!!!!
Okay, now that I got that out of my system, asks under the read more.
andhewonherheart asked: @andhewonherheart I love that Bolat is Aydan’s last name, not Alptekin’s. I know it’s a little of a retcon, but this way we don’t need to worry about Serkan and his family carrying that man’s name. And Aydan would be a woman that strongarms her husband into taking her last name.
I LOVED THIS!  I sat up straight when Kemal made the comment about Alptekin taking her name and cheered. Seriously. What a great turn of events. Serkan is so attached to his name, it’s nice that he didn’t have to have an identity crisis over that on top of everything else. And now it’s not weird for Eda and Kiraz to take his name after finding out Kemal is actually his father, which I wanted for them. I wanted them all to be tied together with a name, to have that feeling of belonging. Plus, as you say, it’s nice they don’t have the name of that man.
I will say one thing, though... is it really a retcon?  Did they ever say Bolat was Alptekin’s given last name? I don’t think they did (but who knows with the iffy translations we all rely on). I do remember Aydan bragging on the lineage of the Bolats in a very early episode (maybe 2?) and at the time I thought it was odd that she was so proud of the lineage when she just married into it, especially because if memory serves she was sort of heckling Eda, who was marrying a Bolat.  Perhaps this was always intended, and we only feel like it’s a retcon because we’re programmed by a patriarchal society to assume a woman always take a man’s last name?
Anonymous asked: I don’t really like the idea of Serkan giving up Art Life. I understand the symbolism of him giving up his work for his family, but I would’ve preferred that he finds a balance, like he did with bringing Kiraz to work. I feel like that would’ve been a more rounded way of approaching his character, instead of swinging him in the other direction, now instead of having only work, he only has his family. When he could have both.
He will have both. Eventually. He’ll figure it out and get back to where he was. He is Serkan Bolat after all. You don’t expect him to sit idle for any length of time, do you?
As much as part of me was just torn up at him selling his stake in the company, I thought it was really beautiful.  Sure, balance is good, but this is a man who has ripped out Eda’s heart twice by telling her that work is more important than she is to him. This is a man who left ON HIS WEDDING DAY, who put work first ON HIS WEDDING DAY, who got on a plane ON HIS WEDDING DAY because he tried to balance (do both, go to Italy and get married in one day) and it ended up putting them both through hell and almost ruining both of their lives.
Picture how you would feel if the person you were marrying decided to fly to another country on your wedding day?
So I disagree with you. I’m more than fine with Serkan Bolat unequivocally putting Eda first over his career and company. After everything they’ve been though, and her insecurities in that area, it was incredibly important and now she will never, ever doubt where his heart lies. It’s with her. She (and their family) is his top priority.
Besides, the show started with Serkan having destroyed Eda’s dream of studying to become a landscape architect in Italy, it’s quite poetic that he gave up something substantial so that she could realize a dream of working as a landscape architect on her dream project in Italy.
I’m pretty sure she’ll be more than happy to help rebuild their company. Together.
Anonymous asked: i know you said in your previous ask round-up that as far as the actual proposal goes, nothing would top that speech in 27.. i was wondering how you felt about his speech this episode. sure, it wasn't actually the proposal, more like a "reception" toast, but for me i think it was my favorite speech, or at least top 3, serkan has said to/about eda.. just pure love about their journey together and a huge full circle moment with that video from the pilot episode.
YEEEEEESSSSSS. I so agree with this, and actually thought exactly this while watching.  It was a marvelous speech and while, as you say, it was presented as more of a toast, it was really more of a wedding vow.
I loved it. And I’ve rewatched it multiple times and I plan to watch it many times more. As always Kerem and Hande were excellent in the scene. Eda and Serkan were in front of their friends and family, but they were so focused in on one another they might as well have been alone. The emotion was palpable.
She is love. Dang, Serkan!  He’s mentioned love at first sight a couple of times, it was nice that in this moment he gave another nod to that.
Loved the call back to the video from the first episode, it worked really well, especially to remind us of how it all started and how she felt like he destroyed her dream. That segued into him mentioned them destroying each other’s dreams. As I said above, quite poetic, especially since he then put his money where his mouth was by the end of the episode and destroyed his dream to preserve hers.
Well done, show.
Anonymous asked: i have loved the tone of this season so much. none of the drama we have is super heavy, outside of the kiraz reveal which was given the angst and importance it should have bc of how it important it was. otherwise, we've had happy (now married!) edser coming back together and now facing trouble and issues as a couple! this was basically all i wanted for them since 28!
Yes, me too. I really enjoy the tone this season. As you say, it’s not super heavy, the melodrama is at a minimum, most things are light and fluffy and even heavy issues are played with a light hand.
For me, I’ve really enjoyed this season and I’m super glad we got it.  I think COVID did us one favor by shutting down production when it did and forcing them to reevaluate what they were doing.  If they hadn’t I’m guessing the show would have continued in a very messy and directionless manner, with lots of melodrama and storylines that would have been traumatic to watch.
Season 2 has direction and purpose and a plan and once we got past the horrified shock of the time jump and the secret daughter (which I grant you was no small feat) it’s pretty much been trauma free.
Anonymous asked: After watching the episode, I'm lowkey disappointed. we did get Pretty Woman SCK-style. I was promised Serkan as a gigilo and Eda encouraging it!!!!! LOL, jokes aside, I'll never forget the outrage over that fragman over "harassment" or "prostitution" of all things when the actual dinner scene lasted 3 minutes, Eda was being at the hotel the whole time, and the scene where people thought she was encouraging him was about her project. Almost 50 eps and you would ppl would learn how fragmans work.
The fragman was insanely misleading, but lots of them are, so you would think they would have figured it out by now, but nope! A large swath of people really embarrassed themselves with their complete over reaction to something that turned out to be nothing like they thought.
Thankfully Serkan was entirely in the dark about how dire the situation was and why Eda was pushing him to make nice with Deniz, and only humored Deniz very unwillingly and then completely cut ties with her.  I think the best part was the least shocking twist ever... that the Serkan staying in her room line was an actual joke on the show. Come on, kids, it was pretty obvious to anyone with a brain that Serkan would never actually consider staying with her, and certainly not just days after he got married. Preposterous!
Having said that, I do agree with people who think that Deniz being obsessed with him to that degree is dumb. There is a thread of misogyny and internalized misogyny (depending on which writers) running through the writing of these female guest characters who come in and absolutely shed all dignity, sanity and common sense when it comes to Serkan. Selin, Balca, the actress and Deniz.  Good grief. However, I just don’t care enough to get pissy. If that’s what they’ve come up with to fuel the jealousy trope that apparently is a must for Turkish dizis without having Serkan ever have eyes for anyone but Eda, then so be it.
The formula is more than obvious by now, so I’m not sure why some folks made asses of themselves jumping to other conclusions.
