What do u think of the trope where Blue/Swap joins the bad guy???
I have complicated feelings about it?
I love the trope in of itself, I think it would be a really interesting trope to explore
The problem tho? I never once saw it executed in a way that grabbed my attention or made me actually love the story it was used in
It immediately goes to the “asshole” Dream and Ink and “kind found family” Nightmare gang trope
Which again, if you don’t know, I hate the trope of Dream being somehow an asshole or somehow treating Swap as tho he’s less than him
Ink is a whole different story where the fandom simply villainize him just cause he’s soulless
And the kind found family Nightmare gang is a trope I love, but just like the trope of Blue joining the Nightmare gang, it’s poorly executed most of the time (and I mean, how can you call it a “Blue joins the bad guys” when the “bad guys” are shown to be good guys????)
Like, I opened so many different fics only to be hit with the same execution of this trope over and over, eventually just losing interest bxhxhdhdh
The idea of Swap not being able to “keep up” with Ink and Dream or is somehow neglecting himself to take care of Dream just doesn’t really intrigue me (or even make sense to me)
Like don’t get me me wrong, I’m an absolute sucker for the “Swap is literally the only anchor Dream has left in his life otherwise he’d fucking break down” but I dare say Swap is more than capable of handling it without it weighing him down to a significant degree
This is Swap for god’s sake, he’s literally Papyrus’ personality but in a Sans body, if anything, he’s the one who has his shit together the most and is able to go on with a genuine happy and determined smile on his face, no matter the shit that happens to him, it would make a lot more sense for Dream to be the one to try and catch up with Swap than the other way around
I get that the trope tries to show the limitations of Swap as a mortal compared to Dream and Ink who are both pretty much immortal, but what people tend to do is that they completely twist Swap to be absolutely pathetic just for this trope to work
Which *shakes the fandom* I promise you don’t have to completely change a character up to make a trope work
Like I saw stories that made Blue to be somehow a weak depressed anxious guy trying so hard and is failing and whatnot and I question myself whether that’s even Swap anymore hchcchcjvj
I think the problem I usually see when people try and write different tropes for different characters, is that they try to make the trope make sense, and so they twist the character around to fit around the trope
Which, imho, is ineffective, you should understand the character, and then think of how the character would deal with a certain situation and how that leads to the trope you’re trying to write, one step at a time without having to ignore/erase important personality traits of the character
Of course, that doesn’t mean the trope you’re trying to write can’t fundamentally change the perception, personality, or behavior of a character, but you have to show how it affects the character to such a fundamental degree, show how can the character be heavily influenced and affected in a way that makes sense for said character
For example, I’ve seen people write Swap neglecting to eat cause he’s trying to “keep up” or sometimes Dream and Ink don’t give him the chance to cause they pressure him to go on another mission or push him too hard
Here are some problems I see with this:
- why is the Nightmare gang even somehow attacking every single day? Have they got nothing better to do? Especially with the fact they’re a found family now?
- why is Dream and Ink going out for “missions” every day if the Nightmares aren’t attacking, like damn what are they even doing?? What are these “important missions”?? Since when was Ink so obsessed with “missions”?
- Swap would absolutely not let that shit stand, if anything, he’d be very vocal about it and tell Dream and Ink to sit down and eat his great delicious tacos (Swap’s voice always has power behind it, and his actions are a direct reflection of his beliefs not what others push him to do)
- Ink has a home in the doodlesphere, he wouldn’t even be around enough to push Blue, while Swap has an AU and a brother, there is pretty much no way he’d be with Dream and Ink 24/7, and if he was somehow, you think Swap Paps would let it slide? And even if we go with the idea of Swap not being part of an AU anymore, you think Swap himself would neglect himself just to please others even when it doesn’t align with his own beliefs?
And those are only few of the top of my head, I’m pretty sure if I sat down and thought about this for a few hours, I’d be able to write you a whole other set of problems
Not saying you can never write Swap neglecting to eat, you absolutely can, it’s just needs to make sense for Swap as a character, what would it take for Swap to start neglecting his health? It’s not others pressuring him or pushing him I can tell you that much
So yeah, good trope, not so good execution (for me at least)
I guess I’m way too focused on the logic of it to truly enjoy it for what it is, but then again I always love to complicate things way more than I need to
Not every trope or story has to make sense completely, but I guess seeing Swap be completely made into a pathetic mess with no actual grounds to support it beyond “he’s mortal and his friends aren’t“ just ruins it for me dhdhhdhd

Dreams Under The Sun
Summary: Olga teaches an afternoon class, there she meets Daisy and you.
Warnings: none :)
A/N: This is one that l have kept in my drafts for ages now, but here we go! This is also a request by someone l used to like, l hope you had fun reading this 🫶 request if yall want a part 2!
Word count: 1k, short blub :)
The sun was just beginning set, sending out a golden glow over Madrid. Olga sat on a chair near the dining table as she laced up her boots. Today was a special day – not because it's a match, but because of a promise she had made.
Olga walked out of her apartment and headed quickly toward a small local football pitch. She was almost late so she had to hurry. It was a Saturday, and she had agreed to host a training session for a group of young girls from all around the neighbourhood. When she arrived, the girls were waiting for her, their faces lighting up as she approached.
“Good morning, everyone!”
She greeted, her smile bright and kind. The girls, ages from six to twelve, gathered around, their excitement increased as more time passed.
“Are you ready to play?”
Olga asked, kneeling to be at eye level with them. They all nodded enthusiastically.
For the next hour, Olga led them through simple drills, sharing tips and tricks she had learned over the years. She showed them how to control the ball, how to defend, and most importantly, how to believe in themselves.
“Remember, it’s not just about skill,”
She said, pausing the practice for a moment.
“It’s about your hearts. Never give up, no matter what.”
One of the girls, Daisy, who was particularly shy, but she seemed to do better under Olga’s teaching. Olga noticed her potential, so she spent a little bit of extra time encouraging her, showing her how to dribble past defenders with confidence.
After the session, Olga sat with the girls, sharing stories from her own career. She told them about the challenges she faced, the hard work it took to reach the top, and the joy of scoring the winning goal in the World Cup final.
“Dream big,”
As she told them, there was a lot of awes and wows. The girls did look up on Olga, a lot too in that fact.
“You can achieve anything if you believe in yourself and work hard.”
As the session officially ended and the parents slowly went to pick up their kids, Daisy stayed behind. She walked towards Olga, wearing her Real Madrid backpack and holding out a small notebook and pen.
“Could you sign this for me please?”
She asked as her eyes shined, she was talking to her hero. Daisy had looked up on Olga ever since she was able to walk, meeting her today was an absolute dream come true.
Olga had nodded with a smile, taking the notebook. She signed on the page that has her name on it and chuckled.
“Your planning to collect a lit of signatures huh?"
Daisy just giggled, and Olga smiled as she gave the notebook back to the little girl, Daisy smiled as she went and sat next to Olga.
"Keep practicing, and one day, you’ll be a star too."
"Mama always says that whatever you do, don't give up, always try your best, even though it gets hard sometimes"
Olga nodded as she continued the conversation. Although it was ready quite late, she had started to wonder where Daisy's mother was.
"What you mama is true, speaking of her, where is she? Do you know?"
She said with a soft voice, Daisy only shook her head, not sure.
"Mama has a really important job. Maybe she's late because she's still working"
Just on cue, you came running on the pitch, Hair messy and looking tired, your also wearing a dark red suit and black heels. When Daisy noticed you, she grinned and ran towards you.
"Mama!!"
Daisy engulfed you into a hug and her smile brightened, while you were hugging Olga walked over.
"Flo did really well today. She has the potential to achieve something amazing in football"
You nodded as Daisy let go, listening in the conversation.
"That's good, yes, l remember Daisy has been interested in football ever since she can run. Whenever she sees a ball, she always runs and plays with it"
Olga chuckled, her eyes lighting up as she looked at Daisy.
"Well, she's got talent, that's for sure," she said warmly. "If she keeps practising, who knows? Maybe one day, she'll be able to play with me professionally in the pitch."
You smiled proudly, glancing down at your daughter, who was beaming from ear to ear.
"She’s always admired you, Olga,"
you admitted.
"Thank you for spending time with her today. It means the world to her—and to me."
Olga dismisses the thanks with a modest smile.
"It’s my pleasure. I remember being her age, dreaming of the big leagues. Sometimes, all it takes is someone showing a bit of faith to turn that dream into a reality."
Daisy, still clutching her signed notebook, looked up at Olga with stars in her eyes.
"Will you come back next Saturday?"
she asked eagerly, Olga crouched down to meet her gaze.
"Of course, Daisy. I’ll be here as long as you’re ready to work hard and have fun."
She gave her a playful wink, which made Daisy giggle. As you and Daisy started to leave, Olga had said something.
"And remember, don’t let anyone tell you what you can or can't do. Just keep believing in yourself!"
Daisy nodded, her little face serious with determination. Her hand clutched yours tightly as you walked away, her voice bubbling over with excitement.
"Mama, did you hear that? She believes in me!"
You smiled, squeezing her hand in return.
"I did, sweetheart. And I believe in you too. Just keep chasing that dream, and who knows where it'll take you."
A/N: l finally posted after a while 🤦♀️ l am currently editing my lia x reader story, l'll see yall then when l post it!

The Dark Horse Tour commenced on November 2, 1974. “Much later in my life (1996-97), I toured with two members of George’s band, Jim Horn (sax), and Willie Weeks (bass). Weeks, a rather sullen individual, never offered much in the way of old ‘war stories.’ Jim Horn, however, told all of us on the tour bus that George was perhaps THE sweetest person he’d ever worked with… that includes all four Beatles, the Stones, Stevie Wonder, Elton John & many more.” - Jon Glazer, tulsatvmemories.com “[Hariprasad] Chaurasia says all the concerts that they performed together were memorable for him. ‘I will never forget the kind of massive following he used to have. There was such a craze that there would be extremely long queues for tickets, even a week before the concert. And, even while running around to get everything right and in place before the concert, George would also make sure that those who were backstage were getting tea and coffee,’ he says. Chaurasia says touring with Harrison was always a learning experience, on how to make melodies and beautiful harmonies with those melodies. ‘The arrangement was such that the musical instruments would be tuned even before we reached the venue. Immediately after landing at the airport, we would be taken to the hotel and then to the concert venue where we would find our Indian clothes waiting for us. He always put a lot of thought into everything and planned everything so perfectly that the arrangements were meticulous,’ says Chaurasia. ‘Performing with Indian musicians was a dream come true for George.’ Chaurasia also reveals his friend's child-like nature. ‘Sometimes he would play ball or go for a run, or at other times he would just want to share stories.’” - The Week, February 25, 2018

A non-exhaustive list of art, pieces of media, franchises, authors, and thinkers that I really need my fellow Cultsim/BoH/Secret Histories fans to get into and discuss with me and between themselves.
.
.
(WARNING A LOT OF THE FOLLOWING RECOMMENDATIONS COME WITH A LIST OF CONTENT WARNINGS AND ARE SOMETIMES CONNECTED TO CONTROVERSIAL ARTISTS AND PUBLIC PERSONS. THIS LIST IS NOT A ENDORSEMENT OF ANY PROBLEMATIC IDEALS OR STATEMENTS MADE BY ANYONE MENTIONED IN THIS LIST AND IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT ANYONE WHO LOOKS INTO ANY OF THE MENTIONED WORKS OF ART DO THEIR DUE DILIGENCE AND THOROUGHLY CHECKS FOR DISTURBING / TRIGGERING CONTENT AT THEIR OWN VOLITION)
.
.
Film Recommendations:
1. Dario Argento's Three Mothers trilogy, especially Suspiria & and especially especially the 2019 remake of Suspiria. Very Dancer DLC-coded, very Sisterhood of the Triple Knot and Thunderskin.
2. The Magic Lantern films of Kenneth Anger, who was a practicing Thelmaite* for many years. Lantern Principal is obviously what comes to mind when you hear of the name of the series and the dreams that were mystical experiences that inspired and were expressed in art, in this case films is very much akin to stuff we see in Cultist Simulator.
(* As shown in later parts of this recommendation list I argue that the games of Weather Factory become even more interesting and artistically impactful if you learn more about late 19th and 20th century occultism and movements like Theosophy and Thelma.)
3. Hereditary and Midsommar are obvious recommendations but even more so I would recommend the original 1970s The Wicker Man. Folk Horror in general is a great source of what the arts of The Bosk would look like in real life. They were definitely worshiping The Low Red Sun on Summer Isle.
4. A Dark Song, a 2016 horror film that actually revolves around the performance of a very famous and important real life occult ritual. I think a lot of the visual imagery in that film can give some inspiration for the kind of Rites our player character in Cultist Simulator is performing.
5. The Lair of The White Worm is a movie loosely based on a Bram Stoker story and is also very much a Gods of Stone overthrown by forces associated with humans raised to Divinity and the powers of the Sun and Apollonian principles type of story. Plus the whole Worm/Wyrms thing going on. I also recommend it because it's one of the more light-hearted and comedic entries on this list and I want some variation in tone. Also its psychedelic visuals compliment a lot of the surrealist elements that are tied to things like the Moth Principal.
6. Black Swan isn't explicitly supernatural but it is very Dancer Coded.
7. The Hellraiser movies, but only the first second, fourth, and the reboot. Leviathan, being associated with pain and pleasure and having the name of a mythical sea monster is probably very similar to whatever the hell The Tide was before The Red Grail vored her. The Cenobites are Long with Grail, Knock, & Forge as their Principals.
8. Pan's Labyrinth, for the Woods and the Bounds appreciators. I also think there is something to be said about the fascist subtext that underlines much of the Edge Principle, especially in The Colonel that can be explored and appreciated in this film and its reckonings with the evils of Spanish fascism.
9. To compliment the recommendation for the Magic Lantern films, also check out the short film The Wormwood Star, you can find it easily on YouTube and it's another piece of art heavily influenced by Thelma and stars Marjorie Cameron who I will talk about more later in this list.
.
.
Game Recommendations:
1. Hollow Knight, it might as well be a story set in the era of the Carapace Cross. Sentient bugs, mighty Wyrms and dream gods with the powers of light but not necessarily moral goodness. Even the Void in Hollow Knight, and it's antagonism to The Radiance is very similar to The Nowhere and it's relationship with the established hierarchies in The Mansus.
2. The Silent Hill games, particularly the entries that revolve around The Order; like 1,3, Origins, and Homecoming. Dream worlds, Sun worship, the Dark Feminine and female psychics/mediums with deep associations with blood, birth and menstruation. Valtiel is totally a Name. Even the fog and mist of Silent Hill is giving The Bounds and it's Forge smoke meets Woods darkness type energy.
3. Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines, it's basically playing a Grail Long.
4. The tabletop games Geist: The Sin Eaters and Wraith: The Oblivion line up really well with the Ghoul / Medium DLC. *
(basically most if not all of the World of Darkness and Chronicles of Darkness tabletop games contain some themes, elements, or bits of World building that should appeal to anyone interested in the games created by Weather Factory)
5. The video games created by Korean studio Project Moon. Lobotomy Corporation has a lot of timers and simulation elements that have many similarities to those found in Cultist Simulator, and as the title implies Liberty of Runia takes place literally in a paranatural library just like Book of Hours even though the game play between the two is very different.
6. Fallen London and it's related media. The reasons why should go without saying. The controversies around AK aside, Echo Bazaar and Secret Histories are blood siblings and I desire more intersection and interaction between the respective fandoms.
7. The Bayonetta games have a surprising amount of real mythological and occult influence in their world building. The Solar Lumens juxtaposed with the Lunar Umbrans definitely has some resonance with Church of The Unconquered Sun and their on again, off again antagonism and allyship with The Sisterhood of The Triple Knot. The Apollonian natured House of the Sun contrasted with the Dionysian Woods & House of the Moo, and the Nowhere being connected to all three but being distinct; is not all together that different from the division of the Bayonetta universe into Inferno, Paradiso, the human world and Purgatorio between all of them.
8. The Shadow Hearts series of JRPGs are a Gothic, urban fantasy, historical fantasy, lovecraftian adventures around late 19th / early 20th century Europe and Asia. It has a lot of comedic elements and its world building and cosmology are not all that similar to the ones in Weather Factory games (barring their shared history as being inspired by Lovecraft). But if you want Lovecraft in video game form without the racism associated with his writings and you found Cultsim/BoH to fill that niche, then I recommend you give these games a try as well.
9. Secret World Legends, a functionally dead MMO but still incredibly fun to play and I think one of the best examples of urban fantasy / soft Lovecraft or post lovecraftian media in existence. Absolutely fantastic & memorable fully voiced NPCs and characters, really intriguing and rich world building and takes on mythology and folklore. Also given that you play as a quasi immortal with a deep association with bees and an ancient techno-organic goddess you're basically a Long.
10. To compliment the Lobotomy Corporation recommendation and the later SCP mention I think it's only natural that I also recommend the urban fantasy games of remedy entertainment like Alan Wake 1 & 2 and Control. Artists channeling / being used by Eldritch Forces in other dimensions and government institutions related to keeping a control on the supernatural are the most obvious similarities to stuff in WF games.
.
.
Visual Artists:
1. Francisco Goya, especially his Black Paintings, his insights into the witchcraft and folkloric traditions of the Basque region and elsewhere in the Iberian peninsula should be very appealing to fans of The Twins and The Thunderskin. Plus all of the Catholic imagery brings to mind The Mother of Ants.
2. Austin Osman Spare, Rosaleen Norton, and Marjorie Cameron. All three of these people were heavily influential occultists and illustrators/painters so their work is definitely a great representative example of the kind of occult art that you are making when you Paint in Cultsim.
3. Salvador Dali is also a relatively obvious, but I think very appropriate all the same recommendation. Surrealism is by and large the big big tonal influence on Secret Histories in my opinion. He also did a tarot deck so that brings in the Lucid Tarot connection
4.Erté, absolutely the kind of art and fashion you would find in Cultist Simulator's 1920's. Art Deco for days but also his works in particular show a more flowy and organic influence that we would more stereotypically associate with the Art Nouveau of decades prior.
.
.
Comic Books:
1. Alan Moore's run on Swamp Thing and Grant Morrison's run on Animal Man. DC's Red and Green (plus all the other elemental forces) are a deeply underappreciated and underexplored element of the setting, and I think they have a lot of similarities with the Principles we find in Secret Histories.
2. Related to the above, Alan Moore's Promethea and Grant Morrison's The Invisibles for an exploration of 20th and 21st century occultism. Despite the two authors general distaste for each other, their works are often very complimentary.
3. The Hellboy franchise doesn't have a lot of one-to-one parallels with Cultsim & Co. but they draw from the same artistic influences of gothic fiction, weird fiction, mythology and folklore and the occult. So I feel very strongly that fans of one would and should find the other to be enjoyable. Both fandoms need to be more active on this hell site and though there are a handful of quality hidden gems of fanfiction for both franchises I desperately need more people to be writing & reading fan fiction for both. Plus I do strongly believe that Mike Mignola' s art style would really excel at illustrating characters and settings from Secret Histories. His non Hellboy work is also recommended especially the works that fall under his Outervers setting, like Baltimore and Joe Golem.
4. Although I will admit that I am not up to date on it, and that there has been a considerable amount of discourse around the quality of its storytelling (especially within the past few years) I would recommend the webcomic Gunnerkrigg Court to fellow Cultsim fans. Alchemic imagery, interesting reinterpretations of folklore and a setting and tone that is quintessential British urban fantasy / science fiction, Gunnerkrigg is in my opinion a work that has a lot of appeal for fans of WF's games and stories.
5. Lackadaisy Cats is an awesome Webcomic and animated web series. 1920s/ 30s gangsters and bootleggers in the form of anthropomorphic cats! And absolutely beautiful Art Deco illustrations! What's not to love.........
.
.
Anime & Manga:
1. Any of the anime directed by Ryūtarō Nakamura especially Serial Experiments Lain and Ghost Hound(this one is seriously underrated in my opinion.) Surrealism is the name of the game as I've said earlier.
2. Le Chevalier D'Eon, both it's manga and anime even though the two are very totally different and have divergent takes on a similar premise. Historical fiction that reinterprets 18th century historical events through an occult lens is so very very Secret Histories. Plus both works have interesting explorations of gender and the nature thereof. It helps that as far as we know the French monarchy's Secret Histories equivalent are associated with the Hours, my personal headcanon is that Louis XIV was Lantern Principal aligned, and Louie XVI had Knock as his Principal. Also the manga version of the story has a lot of its magic system based around the Tarot.
3. You can't recommend D'Eon without recommending it's biggest inspiration (apart from Rose of Versailles of course) and that would be Revolutionary Girl Utena. Edge Dyads for days with that one. Utena and Anthy are totally The Twins. And the whole show and it's movie are full of surrealist pseudo occult imagery practically to the bursting.
4. Baccano! , a light novel / anime series that's about a bunch of immortal Mobsters in the 1920s and 30s. I mean that's basically The Exile DLC right there.
5. xxxHolic and Legal Drug / Drug & Drop, by CLAMP. A shop that grants wishes and a pharmacy that handles the paranormal are both the kind of businesses that I could see existing alongside Morland's, Oriflamme's Auction House & The Ecdysis Club. Plus both manga are hella gay and I will push my Weather Factory games are inherently Queer pieces of media agenda till the day I die.
.
.
Theater, Operas, Music and Albums:
1. Jimmy Page's unused soundtrack for Kenneth Anger's Lucifer Raising. Definition of Occult rock and role.
2. Kiki Rockwell, especially her two most recent albums Rituals on the Bank of a Familiar River, and Eldest Daughter of an Eldest Daughter.
3. Stravinsky's Rite of Spring might just be the closest we will ever get in real life to an occult ritual in the form of an entire ballet like we see in Cultist Simulator and Book of Hours. Definitely a skill that could fall under the Wisdoms of Birdsong and The Bosk.
4. On that note, Mozart's Die Zauberflöte is also full of Hermetic Elements, Lunar / Solar antagonism, mystical initiation and ritual deity impersonation. Mozart was a Freemason so the fanfic of him as a Heart Adapt practically writes itself.
.
.
Literally Fiction:
1. The webnovels Pact and Pale by wildbow. A magic system that revolves around incredibly hierarchical relationships between humans and mystical beings, where magic fundamentally requires discarding one's humanity and transforming into some kind of mystical being yourself is very similar to the Adapt to Long pipeline we follow in Cultist Simulator.
2. The Rivers of London series is one that I'm still familiarizing myself with but it's another example of wonderful British urban fantasy (that isn't the wizard books that shall not be named) The fact that the main characters of the series are magic police officers gives it a certain Suppression Bureau appeal.
.
.
Nonfiction- Philosophy and Occult works and Authors:
1. Georges Bataille!!!!!!!! If you only pick one thing from this list to investigate further let it be the philosophical works of this man. His theory of religion as it relates to concepts such as economy, sacrifice, and eroticism you literally completely change how you understand The Hours and The House Without Wall.
2. Aleister Crowley, and any of his students, especially Kenneth Grant. He really is the quintessential modern English occultist, whether or not AK and Lottie intended it, the DNA of his beliefs or those of his Golden Dawn contemporaries, or his students is all over Cultsim and BoH. The Red Grail is like, so blatantly Babalon it's kind of ridiculous.
3. The Book of English Magic by Phillip Carr- Gomm & Richard Heygate, is a good introductory source of information on the history of magical practice and occultism on the British isles.
4. Occult Paris by Tobias Churton is a fascinating insight into some of the mystical practices that were en vogue in Europe just a few decades prior to when Cultist Simulator takes place.
5. Atlas of Cursed Places by Oliver Le Carrer. I could totally see some of the places documented in this book as being locations you could send your Followers to in Cultsim.
6. Please read everything you can that is academically critical about Greek magical Papyri. There are tons of resources for reading translations and analysis of these documents that are some of the most foundational examples of what real historical magical belief and practice actually looked like.
.
.
Web Original Content, Podcasts, YouTube Channels and Tiktok Recommendations:
1. Greedy Peasant over on Instagram and tik tok does fascinating content related to Catholicism, medieval history and art, and other related topics. If you like all of the interesting reinterpretations of Christian religious iconography into sun worship that happens in Book of Hours I highly recommend his content.
2. The last few years have really seen an incredible ecosystem of academic scholarship on religion, mythology, occultism and esoteric philosophy develop on YouTube. Channels like Esoterica, Angela's Symposium, Let's Talk Religion, Religion for Breakfast, Jackson Crawford, The Modern Hermeticist, The Archaeology of Ancient Magic, and others are just overflowing gold mines of accessible and easily digestible but still academically critical and pseudoscience and conspiracy theory free information about mysticism historical occultism and esoteric religion and mythology.
3. There are also a number of great YouTube channels that aren't academically critical but are run by actual practicing witches and occultists and they offer fascinating and interesting insights into these same topics but from a lived more personal perspective which is just as important I think to learn about as the academically critical sources. Great channels include Benbell Wen, Maevius Lynn, Marco Visconti, & Nordic Animism.
4. In terms of fictional internet media, SCP is so broad that there's a lot of stuff that is completely different in appeal from what is enjoyable about Secret Histories, but there's also so much overlap. I need crossover fanfics and fan art more than air!!!!!
5. Lastly this is a fiction podcast so it's a little incongruous with the other nearby recommendations but, I cannot stress enough......... The Mangus Archives and Magnus Protocol!!!!!!!!!!!!! There are a lot of key differences between those two podcasts and Weather Factory games, but there are so many similarities that I have to write an entire three other posts about how similar the settings are and how I want to write a crossover/ fusion fic. I've seen like, one or two pieces of fan art and fanfiction that was related to both series but in my humble opinion it's not nearly enough. I really really really really really need Cultsim fans to talk more about Magnus and I need Magnus listeners to play these games soooooooo badly!!!!!!!!!!
.
.
.
.
.
.
Well that mostly concludes this piece of propaganda for the time being, will probably make another post with further additions in the not so distant future. Feel free to reblog this with any other pieces of media that you think would also be appealing to fans of Cultist Simulator and Book of Hours.

I need your Kaidan opinions for the fave character game. Pwease. 😻
From the character ask game.
Oh God, I will have to change my pants by the time I'm done.
Favorite thing about them
Everything??? He's such a complex dude, and all of his complexity is shown so subtly in a way that also reflects him as a character. I love it.
But most of all, his emotional maturity, his intelligence, his self-esteem, and honestly, how incredibly badass he is.
He doesn't use Shepard as a therapist, as a fixer for his problems, as a pillar of strength to lean on. Instead, he always comes into this relationship (platonic or romantic) as an equal, and it's so refreshing to see.
Every other squadmate needs something from Shepard, and with Kaidan it's the other way around. It's Shepard who needs Kaidan, a person who will remind them that what military propaganda usually pushes as "the hardest choices a soldier can make" are actually the laziest choices.
Kaidan knows that killing is easy. Destroying is easy. But showing restraint, showing compassion, trusting someone, doing the right thing, that's hard.
Also, Kaidan is literally the only squadmate who consistently tells Shepard that they can step aside, that they don't have to do everything alone, that they have their team for a reason, and oh god, thank you Kaidan, thank you, thank you, thank you.
Least favorite thing about them
My god, he's stubborn.
And yes, Shepard needs someone like that in their close circle, but oh Kaidan, my man, my dude, my wonderful human being, you have to learn to relax, to let things go sometimes.
I think the main thing about him is that he's actually so passionate, he feels deeply, and friendship and love are so important to him, but he has trust issues, and he has standards, and he's very intelligent, and all of that runs over this deep well of emotions that he carries around.
He wants to love with abandon, but he can't. He wants to do the right thing all the time, but it's impossible. He has to learn how to compromise, how to live in the gray area.
Honestly, there are so many parallels between his and you-know-who's ark, no wonder all his fans feel so strongly about Kaidan.
Favorite line
So, so many.
"I think we're gonna need a bigger boot, Commander."
"I could shoot someone if it would make you feel better."
"Mike Hazer? Hazer the Laser? Almost didn't recognize you. ... You owe me money."
"Looking back, I have a few regrets, but not many. That's pretty damn amazing, right? Messed up kid that I was, never would have dreamed of the life I've had."
"You'll never find out."
I love his sarcastic ass. And I love all the glimpses into that deep well that is his heart. He's so good.
brOTP
Joker! Oh my God, that first dialog between them is fucking amazing. I feel like Joker is one of Kaidan's main sources of gossip (something Kaidan is interested in both professionally and recreationally), and Joker finds Kaidan's dry wit incredibly funny. They get along just fine because they enjoy teasing each other for sport, but other people probably misinterpret this as dislike. Same with him and Ash.
Also, Tali! Two nerds just talking about tech, weapon mods, all that good stuff. And he's obviously very sweet and protective of her. I really have to read about those two.
If we're talking about ME2 squadmates, his choice would obviously be Samara. I think he would've been fascinated by her story, her abilities, her lifestyle and would've hung out with her a lot. They're just very similar people in my mind, and for Kaidan, it would have been an excellent insight into the extremes of the morality he tends to lean towards.
In ME3, he probably hangs out a lot with James and Steve because he likes Steve and he can tolerate James most of the time. XD I think Kaidan and Steve have a lot in common. There's this careful quietness about them. They're both observers, they're both cautious and reserved. And I think Kaidan can see that there's kindness at the core of Steve's soul, and that's important to him.
And finally, mShenko, because whether they end up as a couple or not, they're friends first and foremost. Their romance is purely friends to lovers. Not mentor/mentee+friends to lovers, but friends to lovers. They're open and honest with each other, they care about each other deeply, they know how to tease each other without hurting anyone's feelings. They're equals.
OTP
mShenko. Oh god, it's so good. The slow burn, the maturity of it, how they don't hide behind unnecessary labels and the promises that would probably never be fulfilled. They're just there for each other despite everything, despite their time running out, and it's perfect.
Bonus points for being so obviously horny for each other.
nOTP
Kaidan/Ashley. I just think they work a lot better as friends.
Random headcanon
Kaidan doesn't really like to talk about his childhood, not because it was bad, but because he had a "rich kid's childhood", and things that were common for him throughout his life are actually quite unique and only come when you have a lot of money.
How can you casually mention your annual vacation aboard your family yacht in the company of an Earthborn orphan, a turian from Palaven, and a quarian who spent most of her life on a starship?
Also, both mShep and Kaidan enjoy being knocked around a little from time to time. So they do sparring sessions together, and this shit is _intense_.
Unpopular opinion
He does casual hookups while on shore leave like any other normal Marine. He finds a girl or a guy, fucks nasty, blows off steam, and returns to his duties.
Song i associate with them
Garbage - Control
Favorite picture of them
This one.
Thank you for this ask! I always love to talk about my man Kaidan.

Female Warriors, Broadway, and the American Dream.
The Warriors have been out for about 2 weeks now and it's slowly but steadily building up a pretty passionate following.
I think one of the biggest changes that have been rough for some long time over years 79 fans is that the Warriors are now female, which some argue ruins the point of the original and or softens the story too much.
While I do respect everybody's opinion when it comes to artistic criticism, I do think that dismissing the concept album just because it features women is a little short-sighted IMHO.
Regurgitating the original male cast just in musical album form would not only be repetitive but would make it no different than other Broadway show that focus on gang violence like West Side story or now The Outsiders.
We have so many shows that focus on brotherhood, kinship, and just masculinity not even within film but also on Broadway, but we hardly ever see the same for female characters.
The Female Warriors are very rough around the edges, foul-mouthed, violent at times, and in the case of cowgirl, lustful.
They're also different body types, present themselves differently, and are all played by BIPOC.
I've seen a lot of Broadway shows in my 30 years of living, and we just don't get diverse female characters like this a lot if at all.
If any female character had the above traits they would likely be presented as being the less than ideal woman or flat out villainous.
The girls have flaws, but these are just things they picked up because of how rough the world has been to them, and at the end of the day they're not only friends but a family.
That's a big difference between the female warriors and their male counterparts from the movie and novel.
The Male Warriors are supposed to be seen as what ends up happening when youths get tangled up in gang culture and how it turns them into monsters.
When the police arrest Ajax in the film it's because of how unruly and savage he was acting and likewise Fox getting killed along with Cleon is supposed to be seen as a consequence of them even being a part of this culture to begin with.
I've said it before, but I think while the intentions may be good it's viewing these marginalized groups through a very White and conservative lens.
Nobody wants to be a part of a gang or run away from home but sometimes living in poverty, an abusive household, or just being crushed by the system forces people to do desperate things and more often than not that's banding together with like-minded people.
Another thing is that most of the Warriors in the original film are White and that's largely just due to the fact that an audience back in the 1970s would be less willing to watch something that didn't at least feature several white main leads otherwise they'd be uncomfortable and uninterested.
From a modern-day perspective, a person like male Ajax would likely get away with his sexually aggressive behavior because of the color of the skin ( you can look at a certain orange politician to see that in present day) and we now know thanks to things like BLM that the police do not always operate in good faith nor to protect the people.
I think that's why the concept album is so good and culturally relevant despite having being created nearly a few years ago.
The Warriors consisting of a group of marginalized women that banded together to support one another to conduct a world that really doesn't care for them is a story you really get to hear not just on Broadway but in Hollywood in general.
Luther being a white gang leader and killing a black cultural figure like Cyrus in cold blood to stop any semblance of progress is the tale as all this time and how he mocks the AAVE the non-white groups he surrounds himself with after making life hell for them is especially painful.
Luther and Crosby literally don't have to worry about ever being hounded by the police because of how they look which allows them to get away with literal murder, but it is very telling that he ends up crumbling the moment he's confronted and called out for his misdeeds.
The cops themselves are also completely reworked for the concept album as opposed to them just being the boys in blue doing their job to get rid of the trash that is the Warriors like the original film, they're essentially the biggest antagonist even more so than the Rogues.
Both police officers that appear in the album have a cat calling motif which doubles as sounding like police sirens just to illustrate how dangerous and cancerous they are not just to the Warriors but to the community as a whole.
Captain Victor and Barnes abuse their power and end up nearly subduing the Warriors by killing Fox and sexually a harassing and later arresting Ajax.
In Derailed Victor even tries to kill the warriors with his squadron before they run away to the cemetery and all of this is done because they can.
The fact that these two are portrayed by people from the 1979 Warriors film sort of acts as a double entender because in the original, the Warriors themselves are supposed to be seen as monsters and what happens when kids fall too deep into the sins of the world, so the cops view the women as nothing more than street rats who need to be exterminated .
The Warriors are guilty because they're marginalized women and that's enough for them to be blown away as far as society and the system is concerned.
I think in some ways, the Warriors is basically the reverse of LMM's other work Hamilton because it shows that the American dream isn't really for everybody and that sometimes you have to find another means to live by.
The system very much failed the Warriors so they had to rely on themselves to make it through the world because nobody else would bother with them.
It's for this reason why I'm sort of against the idea that this album needs to be radically changed in order for it to move the Broadway.
Doing things like giving Luther more complex feelings, adding in things to help the predominantly white audience and critics understand how Urban culture works, and rewriting the characters themselves just to be more stage appropriate seems like it undoes what the musical was trying to say.
I think this story as it is is one worth telling and beyond maybe a bit of polish I don't really think it should be tempered with too much.
If Lin and Eisa were to doll the Warriors up too much it would basically be a completely different story altogether and what we would have is just another Broadway musical that allows the audience to digest certain things that they may not understand nor possibly want to hear.
I think we as a society have moved beyond watering down things so that people who aren't even from the community that these stories come from can sleep better at night.
I think that's why this album and the original movie have dedicated fan bases to them because it does speak to a generation of people.

My GOD YOUR WRITING IS KILLING ME 💥💥💥💥😭😭😭😭
GODDD the Pacifica section. Listen man, my favorite characters of the zodiac had once been normal faves, like Ford. Now, though? It's the antagonist trio, the Morally Questionable folks, the "we were quite evil during the show's runtime but we are really just kids and we have potential for so much" group
So, needless to say: AAAAHHHHHH
- "Outcast yet above it all". Outcast yet above it all I'm going to explode into smithereens. I'm gonna crumple like a Jenga tower. I'm I'm I'm
HOW WOULD THAT FEEL?! To be genuinely open to ONE PERSON in the whole world, one who actually understands what it's like (outcast yet above it all 😭😭💥💥💥💥😭😭😭😭), to be VULNERABLE and REAL to this one person and then they just... :((
It's lonely here at the top of the world, man, but she had a friend :(. And then, she lost him :((. I take comfort in knowing that Gideon's death will most likely be something that will tie the rest of the zodiac closer together (see Dipper and Paz getting closer, Mabel and Robbie connecting through the mutual anger oh my GOD I love seeing these reactions to grief I love seeing Mabel and Robbie interactions I AM BEING FED SO WELL TODAY THANK YOU), that Paz will eventually move on, and that she'll have fond memories of him. If only my Robbie was the dream god, then he'd visit them in their sleep and tell them that Gideon's fine, and that he glows blue, and that the echo of his voice laughs sometimes, which is nice to hear in the Abyss. Alas. Maybe he'll tell them, if he comes for them personally too...
The ENTIRE ROBBIE SECTION. THE ENTIRE OH MY GOD YOU'VE KILLED ME
ALL OF THIS ALL OF THIS. GOODNESS GRACIOUS MAN. THIS IS LITERATURE THIS IS ART THIS IS THE CONTENT THAT WILL SUSTAIN MY SOUL FOR THE NEXT 300 YEARS
"This isn't some sort of cosmic punishment for Gideon's wrongdoings — those had happened years ago in a throne room at the end of the world."
FUCKING HELL
"[...] For the corpse he had to play dress-up with."
FUCKING HELL
I'M SO FBDJDBAJBWRHWJSBAKANRJE
Your Robbie. He sparks joy, friend, he sparks so much joy in my heart. ROBBIES THAT ARE FACED WITH REAL GRIEF AND HURT AND REACT TO IT IN ANGER >>>>>>>>>>>>
I LOVE HIM SO MUCH. AAAHHHHHH
I love his stance regarding the accountability of the town and its weirdness, how he's angry angry angry because it's not fair. Do you see this !?!! Where have I seen this exact same anger before, man !?!! AAAHHH.
I love how he's so freaking angry about the apathy — GOD. I'm comparing them, I have to.
See, my Robbie grew up with his parents. The positively toxic ones, who seemed like the kind of people who'd drop dead if they ever felt a smidge of real human empathy towards the dead. And, like, maybe that wouldn't be an issue, if their son wasn't literally the lord of the dead. So you can guess how he felt, growing up with parents that he loves but who'd also treat his people like furniture. Like objects, like dress-up dolls, like they're nothing more but decoration, like they didn't matter, like they're nothing. If there's one thing my Robbie hates more than anything in the whole world, it's being treated with disregard, condescension, apathy. He cares, a lot, and that's why he feels extra pissed whenever he meets someone who just... Doesn't. (This is the reason why he and his own Wendy have a very rocky relationship nowadays, but that's a story for another time bwahaha.)
So the fact your Robbie shares this trait, this thing where he feels so upset over treating bodies, people, like nothing— it's fun. Especially considering how this should be a point of maturity for them once they realize this behavior, cause like; if they can feel so upset over someone treating a dead person as if they were no one, then why aren't they upset when they see people treat the living like they're nothing? Thompson is right there, you know.
And Stan... AUFHGBDBJFRDBSN
I actually don't have much to say about him because you've already said it all, man. I love your writing and that was absolutely NOT BORING AT ALL I AM SO HAPPY HERE. I'm glad Stan moved on and I'm also so 🥺🥺🥺 over the little remarks about Soos (son) and who I assume to be Wendy (niece 🙏🙏🙏). AUFFBRBJDHD. I LOVE THESE GUYS SO MUCH
teen gideon headcanons because i love him :] i am constantly thinking about him and how he's the only zodiac member (and honestly, only main-ish character because of the book of bill and the website) that doesn't get a sympathetic moment, other than POSSIBLY the finale but that barely counts
i think he deserves to have a SORT OF redemption, at least internally, because he took dipper's advice in weirdmageddon to heart. even if he gets over his crush on mabel (which i think he does. mom said its my canon now) theres still the truth of "people wont wanna be around you if youre a selfish prick"
anyways he makes me emotional so i'm giving him attention
im scared tumblr will kill the quality on my tiny handwriting so transcription under the cut:
after turning like 15, he just starts traveling, gets out of oregon and hits the ground running
uses my headcanon (?) that the amulet takes years from you, and gideon probably won't live past his 20s
he finds this out, has a total mid-life (literally) crisis at 14-15 and decides to do anything "normal" he can do because he doesn't have long to do it
ofc he still has anger issues and obsesses over people and everything else, but he's a lot better at managing it [than] when he was a kid
he doesn't care if he dies with people still hating him, but he wants it to be known that he tried

I had a dream last night, that Ford's eye was bleeding. From stress, I think, and for whatever reason it was very important that he hide it.
I don't remember much of the dream, but there's a vivid scene in my mind of Ford in front of the bathroom mirror in the middle of the night, holding a wet washcloth and wiping away the blood. Dipper walks past, I forgot what he was doing, but he sees the blood and knows where it's from and there's a moment of mutual deer-in-headlights looks. "Oh shit, my grunkle's eye is bleeding!" and "Oh shit, my gnephew knows my eye is bleeding!"
The whole dream had an air of grief/mourning to it. I think the bleeding eye reminded Ford of Bill, and even though it reminded him of a bad part of him it was still BILL and he misses him.
#billford#ford pines#gravity falls#alternatively the eye bleeding was because of bill starting to occasionally possess ford again#but im not entirely sure which#just that ford missed him and the eye was a reminder#my dreams are a lot like stories sometimes#i can go back and edit or make stuff happen to be more narratively pleasing even when im not lucid#perhaps i read too much fanfiction

#hah so I survived the first week of the new semester! this painting was done during an especially uninteresting lecture when I couldn't#bring myself to pay full attention to it. so I decided to doodle something instead ┐(‘~`;)┌#this is definitely not my usual style but I felt like doing some inking again and playing textures and brushes that I'm not used to#(normally I use only three brushes - 6b pencil. square pastel. wet marker XD)#i found out that limiting my options is often the reasonable thing to do but sometimes it's also nice to experiment and go crazy x'D#but now my brain hurts from all the frustration from finishing this painting -recognizing when to stop sometimes proves to be a challenge XD#mayhem art#hiw should I tag this??#dream of the endless#i suppose... i mean I strayed a lot and idk what the story behind this one is anymore#dreamling#if you believed me that this is dream then you surely agree that it must be Hob who's braiding Dream's hair right?

Psychonauts dream.. Compton was there and hanging out with Ford :]
#duck speaks#they were going through a brain that was elementary school themed (like an elementary school but if it were weird mostly)#Otto and Bob had apparently already went in but they got lost or something so they went to find them and get them out#Helmut and Lucy and Cassie were sitting this one out I think. having fun elsewhere#a lot of the dream was like. going through a the halls and looking in the rooms (while also trying not to distract the kids)#or sometimes when you went in a room it would teleport you into a seat and you'd have to answer the questions correctly to get out#if you did something wrong it would restart I think#in one of the rooms though there was a flower pot with like.#a toy flower that had been grown really tall and large so that it could reach an open ceiling panel#oh I forgot to mention that this brain would make you small. shrunk#also for some reason Compton was leading this and Ford was following and doing what he said ?#he was kinda nervous and seemed like mostly he was winging it but Ford trusted him#anyways.#they figured that probably Bob grew that plant. which means him and Otto probably went up there#when they got into the ceiling it switched to be like. a neighbor and bus drop off ?#and they were in the bus but there was no driver. Ford took the driver's place and Compton would tell him which way to go#they drove around and helped kids (one of them brought their dog on the bus and it ran out the door and Compton had to go get it back)#but Bob and Otto weren't anywhere to be seen#I think they saw another plant somewhere but I woke up before they could check it out#I hope they found them wherever that one wouldn't taken them#psychonauts#<- forgot that#this is just what my dreams are like btw#they're beautiful and vivid and colorful and they always tell me some kind of story :]#and characters love to be in them also

my uninformed american opinion is that i will be calling it derry not londonderry because im american and therefore will always support ireland if its ireland vs the british.
(i wasn't even going to post this but i wrote a whole essay in the tags so i don't want to waste that)
#i feel like i'm getting into very controversial waters here idk if i should say any of this#also. what do the actual people that live there call it bc i think that should be the end of it.#i saw on tiktok that the only foreign alliance that could make america turn against the uk would be ireland and i fully agree#(i live in new england. uhm. almost everyone here is irish) (irish american i suppose.)#i could talk about ireland and american relations. maybe i will.#here's my understanding of irish-american relations as someone who has never studied the topic in particular#but does have an interest in american history#first off. yes america is very good allies with the uk but culturally it's like. a bullying sort of thing. leftover resentment from the rev#i'm sure it's somewhat similar to everyone's resentment of america. maybe idk im not european#anyway america is built on underdog stories. thats like the foundation of our national culture. the american dream#and these stories started showing up innnnn .... the mid to late 1800s!!#do you know what also happened in the 1800s?#yup! irish people started fleeing their homeland to a better life (cough cough the americas)#so! in the time when stories about immigrants coming to america (the american dream- the most important part of us culture)#a ton of immigrants were irish! wow. do you see where i'm going with this#anyway about 9.5% of america is irish. which is A Lot (3rd most prominent ancestry)#and here in america bc being an immigrant and coming from immigrants and etc is kinda A Thing here#people typically hang on to their non-american identity#i mean i do. you can catch me talking about being french canadian a lot on tumblr.#another thing! even if you aren't irish american sometimes places r so irish that it kinda. blends into ur identification with a city#cough cough boston. cough cough massachusetts.#anyway . so. to recap#ireland and america share a common sorta not really enemy : the british. also they r the underdog which makes us sympathetic#And a lot of america has irish heritage and bc it's the us there's heritage actually matters (sorta)#and therefore the usa will always like ireland A Lot. or at least the people will.#rereading that i hope it makes sense#once again i am not a scholar and have not studied this topic these are just my inferences and observations#rain feathers talks#i will not be tagging this

My mother was talking about how the Magic School in my novel seems to be run almost entirely by powerful middle-aged women "who are kind of bitchy."
me: yes :)
#it's doubly fun as i creep into middle age myself#the main mutually antagonistic older women with a lot of power and colliding senses of responsibility and zero fucks given#are like... three years older than me#my dream was always to get it published in some form before i was their age. we'll see >_>#anyway i sometimes feel like there's a more interesting hidden story about these women who have hated each other for 20 years#but who ultimately decide to team up against greater foes#(one of them is definitely bi and occasionally i have ... Thoughts#80k academia nemeses to begrudging allies to lovers thoughts)#but they are both tough and fairly ruthless people and i'm deeply fond of them#though neither are protagonists of the actual novel#anghraine babbles#original fic rambles

which 3d mario is your favourite to control?
real life mario. i take the controller out and i find him in the wild and i make him run and ground pound poles for free money coins. though sadly sometimes mario has to sleep. it's like sleeping but for mario. the mario council doesn't like the ethics of controlling mario but he says "waho" and "yippy" when i press the buttons so i think they're wrong.
#ask#anon#if you cant find a mario. dont worry.#you know mario odyssey? yeah you can control telephone pole. you can control frog. yeah cool#you can control things with controllers. they wouldnt call it that if it couldnt#mario dreams of spagegi. sometimes ravoli. sometimes even mama mima.#dont wake him up too early or he'll experience Super Mario Blood Rage#anyway to truthfully answer? i havent played a lot of 3D mario platformers outside of 64 and Sunshine#like i played a lot of 64 and Sunshine growing up#i played galaxy but it was only a rental. so i had to return him to the store. so sad :(#i have galaxy 2 but. something about 2 doesnt match up to galaxy 1 in my mind and i dont know why that is.#like with some games i can tell you what i dont like about their sequels.#sly cooper 2? really enjoyable but i missed the purely platforming aspect of 1#DBZ Budokai (any game after 1)? no cool ass cutscenes and no Zarbon 🙄#like i know Budokai 3 has the better combat but. i dont really play a lot fighting games#so Budokai 1's simple kick-punch-ki blast is enjoyable for me#plus the story mode and Zarbon is what makes it for me for DBZ Budokai.#but yeah mario galaxy 2? couldnt tell you what makes it weird to me compared to 1.#i think the controls across most 3D marios are good. cant pinpoint one i find the most Fun to Control#now if we said platformers in general? hard to say since id need to refresh my hands memory on how some play#i dont have a working copy of Sly Cooper 1. or atleast one that isnt incredibly scratched to hell.#but if i had to guess. sly cooper 1 would be really high up.#jak & daxter 1 had some nice movement the last i played it. i 100%'d it but was kinda sad there was barely a reward for doing so#anyway im sorry this doesnt really answer your question anon. one day i'll be able to have a proper answer#thank you for the ask anon!!

my one piece self insert oc is the ultimate in escapist 'mary sue' fantasy and i'm sorry but i love that and i'm so proud of me for letting myself have that. what if i ran away and joined the circus but i still had job security and everyone thought i was so hot they came to see me perform every night. also i'm tough. also i can shapeshift. also i'm fucking an emperor. also i sing fleetwood mac and everyone claps.
#silver jelly#clownfucker era#they're a lot like adrian in that there isn't a Big Bad haunting the story (like g with joseph's messy divorce; kieran with the cult;#or ezra with the uhhh [gestures wildly around crockett])#but the source material is also just so fucking ridiculous that i can do whatever i want and get away with it. whereas with adrian there#are some limits on like what qualifies as realistic; even within the coma dream aus where the rules of reality have a little more give.#it's also like;; so much of archer is these characters' relationships ('it was always a love story') but buggy doesn't really have that#so anything kinda goes? and sometimes it's good to have roadmaps to lean against; i find a lot of joy in figuring out where a#character belongs and who thinks what about them and how that makes them mesh (or not) with their social surroundings#but it's also really nice to be like. okay. this is the only guy they care about impressing and he doesn't really have any friends.#anyway i lov all my self inserts and ocs mwahhh :' )

i do wonder if one reason i tend to go for the method of "kidnap a vague story idea and make expies of all the characters i think are relevant and make up something new and barely recognizable" instead of the much less complicated method of just "writing a fanfiction" is that i play fast and loose with lore details if i think they suck or are boring or just irrelevant and i have this very intense possibly irrational but maybe rational fear that if i write a i dunno. zelda fanfic and i dont get everything 100% right based off the official nintendo timelines that ive been ignoring since they came out that the fanbase is going to take me out back and put me down.
#another reason is it is just fun LOL and i can get even faster and looser with expies#but i do feel that urge sometimes like. damn. i wanna make a fanfiction#but then i get. hashtag scared#i like interpreting stories too much!! having a little fun with it and thinking about it but not deciding anything clear or concrete!!#those who know my ikesen AUs know this about me. you know this HFKDSLJFDS#a woman can be a normal woman and also a goddess and also a normal woman (single mom edition) and also some kinda time travel anomaly and#a fucking GHOST i dont know an alien a person who doesnt remember history class. a person who doesnt remember history class.#all that can be true to me and also none of it is <3 i like to live my life ambiguously#i am comfortable getting silly and having fun with fan stuff for ikesen tho. actually a lot of smaller and more obscure games like that#like ikesen is not tiny but it is an otome game (niche) and a mobile game (another niche) from like 2016 (7 years ago)#so the fanbase was always a little smaller but chill. had a lot more confidence there#but i get so scared making fanworks for bigger stuff....i need to get braver.... i need to get courage#and then maybe. i can make the dinosaur zelda game AU of my dreams#and maybe i could even. draw fanart. of the popular spy and assassin and telepathic child manga ive been quietly obsessed#with for a year straight. maybe. maybe i can do it#(not gonna stop expying characters from stuff tho LOL i mostly do that with stuff i was meh on anyway hkjsjfds)
