if you don’t mind me asking, what’s your ethnicity? i always wondered because of the human characters you’ve created/written/drawn it’s always done very well !!
also, i hope you’re doing alright !! take deep breaths and drink lots of water (especially in this heat) :D
just an american midwestern cryptid, doing their best out here in the middle of nowhere
and burning up when left out in the sun too long
(as far as human characters go, i try to make them varied)

No for real would love to know where that little bit of Filipino comes from. My dad's on Ancestry but Ancestry likes to "smooth out" (eliminate) smaller ethnicity percentages, especially with recent updates. I don't "count" as .4% Filipino over there, and site updates took away my bits of Nigerian and West Asian (the last of which, while small, is still more than just trace amounts), all of which are still available on my 23AndMe. But dad doesn't want to do another DNA test and mom doesn't want to do a test at all so I'm over here staring at the things I wasn't expecting my European ass to have going "WHO WERE YOU I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW" with no direction to start looking

konig headcanons! (realistic)
Tumblr media
tw: nsfw
all of these are realistic hc! dont expect a normal konig
hes NOT a shy awkward pushover, just because he has social anxiety??? we can see through his voice lines hes a very cocky person and speaks rather agressively
“lets be honest, its better off in my hands.”
i hc that just because konig has social anxiety, he doesn’t express this through bring soft and shy, he expresses it through his bluntness
konig wanted to be a sniper but did not because he couldn’t stand still, has social anxiety, i hc he has some form of adhd
his very cocky and blunt shouting isn’t because hes mean, but he just doesnt wanna be seen as that bullied kid he once was
hes doesnt have horrible EQ, but the kind of guy to be incredibly unfiltered
also, this guy was literally assigned as a human battering ram, you think hes all soft and sweet???😅😅😅
no he won’t get angry or cry if his mask is taken off. just annoyed.
its not actually canon that konig is a colonel (correct me if im wrong, i couldnt find anything on the official wiki) but lets assume hes one anyway
even if he isnt, gets paid well. really well.
private military companies that deploy soldiers in areas of active conflict can pay up to hundreds of thousands for one soldier
considering konigs age (late 30s at least) and skills, probably 400-500k a year.
chose to join the military because he had an obsession with tanks and guns as a kid
a lot of hc’s say hes 6’10. i disagree, simply based off of chances and the fact thats wayyyy too tall for the military
but he was described as a mountain, so id say his height is around 6’5-6’8
very very intimidating. hes tall big and has the mask of an executioner in the 15th century. who wouldn’t be scared?
definitely will say some random german word in a situation where no one else there knows german. he doesn’t give a damn lol
hates americans (thinks theyre all obese, mannerless, and bad at geography)
brings up the most random topics. again i really think konig has adhd.
konig was not good at school and hated it, mainly due to the anxiety and how he couldn’t pay attention
also why he chose the path of a soldier
drinks lots of beer, high alcohol tolerance, this guys a true european.
loves austrian or german food. loves schnitzel and pies.
konigs breakfast is literally sausages, toast, eggs, and sometimes beer
BIG APPETITE. he could eat for 3 people.
a little insecure about his appearance, not confident in his looks :( also why he hid his face
but as he grew older he uses the mask for actual purposes of concealing his identity, he is a special ops soldier after all
kind of a cheapskate. he chose to hide his face with what, polyester? chose a piece of cloth over everything else.
has very conservative beliefs. not to the point where he hates abortion and votes far right, konig is just a little confused about some things certain liberals believe in
pretty political person lmao
not enough info to conclude whether or not konig was abused as a kid tbh
he was definitely miserable for a period in his life. hes in the military living a monotone life, barely any contact with others, and constantly living in fear he’d die
i dont think hes as traumatized as ghost tho🙂🙂
konig appreciates his dna and how it makes him big and tall, but sometimes gets incredibly annoyed at it
mainly because well, he got bullied for itas a kid
because he specializes in hostage rescue a lot of hostages (especially kids) are scared of him and refuse to leave the area with him
takes a lot of convincing 🥲🥲
has a lot of intrusive thoughts
cannot use social media properly
also texts like an old grandpa. uses 😂 and 🤣 unironically.
“Can we have burgers 🍔 tonight🌃?”
probably uses a blackberry or reallyyyyy old iphone
relationship hcs:
konigs voice actor (jim boeven) stated in a livestream that konigs wife would ideally be a mix between maria pedraza (actress) and rachael from blade runner (character from movie).
both are 170cm ish and brunettes
i can actually see that—konig is massive and he probably prefers someone on the tall side
first thing you did that led to your relationship with him? you tolerated him that is. listened to him ranting😃
i can see him with a civilian or someone whos in the military tbh
finds you pretty at first
enjoys bickering, he needs someone to simulate his mind
you know those stories where his s/o is 5’2, clingy, soft af, and neeeeeeeds konig? haha you won’t be getting that from me.
unlike ghost, who really takes his time to get to know someone and opens up slowly, scared to have his trust broken again
konig charges in like the human battering ram he is😁
if he has a feeling you’re trustworthy you are trustworthy.
horrible at flirting. he doesn’t know how to talk to women smoothly
needs someone equally as weird and funny
s/o needs to be someone with very firm boundaries and can stand their ground, i think konigs a really stubborn person, so for a healthy relationship to work, s/o can’t be the generic bimbo
konig wears the pants in the relationship
doesn’t let you pay. he has a enough money and believes men should always pay
(im sorry to break your delusions) konig does not strike to me as someone who likes a docile homebody. thats ghost (if you remove the word docile).
he doesn’t like extremely dominant partners either
imagine someone who is a listener, accepting yet blunt, shares his quirks, and has a very elegant feel to them
also someone very independent
also gonna get killed for this but konig would realistically not go for a girl in her early twenties. he prefers elegance and sophistication over being cute and jumpy
hates one night stands.
values relationships more than you think. he can come off as strong at first, but hes trying his best
ecstatic when you tell him you wanna learn german (hes not a good teacher)
doesn’t like play fighting, he thinks he’s gonna accidentally hurt you
admires you a lot. he knows hes not the best looking person and doesn’t understand the makeup skincare dress up thing.
isn’t paranoid, but definitely doesn’t say he has an s/o
if you ever get mad at him, konig will tighten all jars in the kitchen so you have to ask him for help :)
extremely unfiltered. he hates your cooking? he will say it. that dress looks better than the other? he will say it.

is it okay to learn gaeilge if you aren’t irish but most of your heritage actually is from ireland? i totally get what you were saying with your other post about barely having irish heritage and making it an aesthetic but if that’s not the case it’s not like a closed language right?
Ok so I’m going to go on a bit of a rant here and explain my post and my feelings about this.
First and foremost, it’s not a closed language.
More people learning Irish is always a good thing. However, I think you should ask yourself your intentions for learning Irish. This is where Irish people’s annoyance at US Americans can come in.
Firstly is regards to my posts about my frustrations at Americans making my post about Ireland and our relationship with Irish and efforts to preserve it, about themselves. Sometimes the best way to be and ally to a cultural group that you are not in, is to say nothing and to simply listen. This is something we deal with on the daily, and have dealt with for centuries. Having lived in the USA for centuries and now culturally being an American, you do not feel this.
I think because America is such a mish mash of DNA, you guys have a different idea of race than we do. We identify as nationalities rather than race. Yes we are black or white, but first and foremost we are Irish or Nigerian or Korean or whatever!
An Irish person is someone who lives in Ireland, who is immersed in our culture, who is affected by our laws and politics. Not someone who had a relative centuries ago that was Irish, but is now part of a different culture. You can have zero Irish ancestry and be Irish because you live on the island! Minimising a whole culture down to blood percentages is weird and not at all how it works.
Here is when the “celtiboo” (Celtic weaboo, ie, someone who is obsessed with and fetishises the Celtic nations such as Ireland) issue comes in. Someone could have ten different DNA percentages of different European countries, yet they focus in on Ireland. This is because of the fetishised idea that people have of us and our culture. People refuse to listen to Irish people, and will only believe their idea of what our culture and history is. I know this first hand living in a city that is inundated with tourists on the daily. My sister is a tour guide at a massive historical site here. US Americans won’t listen to us.
You don’t really see this with these same people who might have French DNA for example. And there is a massive difference between our Languages. French is a language that is far from endangered. It is itself a colonisers language. You learn French so you can go to French speaking countries and use your skills. With Irish, realistically you won’t get to use it. We only get to use it when studying in school or in Gaeltachts (Irish speaking areas), and they aren’t that common.
So you have to ask yourself why you do you want to learn it? Is it for a gimmick or party trick? Something you can pull out that other people in your country won’t have heard of?
When we say we want to preserve Irish, we mean that we want our people in Ireland to be able to speak it. We aren’t trying to spread that language around the world. We just want to restore things to the way they were before England colonised us.
Anyways, in conclusion, just please don’t claim to be a nationality that your aren’t and try to speak on our issues. Please be respectful of native languages and when people from the affected group speak on our troubles, just listen! Please don’t reply making it about yourself and your whatever percentage DNA that put you in “exactly the same position” as us, because it doesn’t.

Theitsa you are gods bravest solider for taking tumblr on wtith this topic🫡 Its so crazy to me that americans and the like make greek ethnicity and origins so complicated, its really not much more complex or strange than most other european ethnic groups. But since western academics have coveted our heritage so much, I guess they have to cope somehow.
People from northern Greece and the mainland are generally more mixed with "slavic dna" than for example islanders are. And thats mainly what gives many greeks that lighter complexion. As far as we know greeks are decendants of the myceneans. They were in general olive skinned with dark hair and eyes, more like someone from Cyprus or Lebanon rather than Germany (who would still be whyte in USians eyes lol). We don´t have any classical era genomes yet to compare, as far as I know. But its hard to imagine that the myceneans were that different from the classical era greeks. But I guess the mediterranean look is too "vague" and scary, as humans we tend to fear ambiguity😅
There are so many feelings tied to this topic, so I understand why it gets heated but its really not that deep, anglos need to chill. The data we have so far certainly seems to break the delusion that the ancients were these aryan ubermench lol
Thank you!! The "We Do Not Look Like This" should not be so controversial but here we are! Like, it actually it's not that deep or complex, we are just generally lighter than their stereotypes picture us, but also a bit darker in some aspects (like the hair colors). They just refuse to google us! 😂 Instead, they think we are lying and that we must be ignoring all the non-pasty Greeks in the country when we explain to them that their depictions are not that based in reality 😂 They'd rather believe there is some hidden racist agenda instead of taking 5 seconds of googling Greek crowds! (Nobody is ignoring the minorities btw! Just google us to get an impression of how we generally look, minorities included, ffs!)
There are genetic studies done on the Greek DNA actually! The phenotypes are more or less the same, although nobody denies the mixes that happened through the eras! And we actually do have depictions to compare! We have frescoes and mosaics with colors and for later eras, we also have manuscripts which depict the local populations. Suprise, we kinda look the same xD (Which, for our USAmericans out there, is a pretty standard thing to happen to a country bc not every country is that kind of a melting pot xD)
Our mixes were more frequently done with our neighbors who - surprise no2! - looked quite similar to us! WHOWOULDHAVETHOUGHT! The darker and the lighter foreigners just "balanced" out one another it looks like xD And also Greeks themselves expanded to other territories and later were largely taken as slaves to N. African kingdoms. We usually have mixes with Slavs, Germans, Armenians, Persians, Turks, North Africans. Who also have an overlap of appearance between them in many cases, and are also quite similar to us.
Everyone also ignores how isolated many Greeks were on the mountains, and how traveling was long and difficult. In my grandparents' generation the neighboring village was almost another place far away!! A distance that takes me 15 mins to cross by car took my grandpa half a day!
Anyways, for all these reasons everyone in the "old world" is a mix of how their neighbors look like! (It happens in the US, too, where the Southern regions have a bigger mix with Latin American populations due to geography) I don't believe that we have to spell out such basic stuff but it looks like many USAmericans do live in a bubble compared to the rest of the world.

Favorite Queen or Queen-adjacent medieval woman: Philippa of Hainault
"The most gentle Queen, most liberal, and most courteous that ever was Queen in her days."
It was difficult for me to choose a favorite, but in light of my recent hyperfixations on the impact of revisionist history, Bridgerton, and the modern concepts of race and identity, I felt like she really was the only one I could choose.
Phillipa is often touted as the perfect queen, similar to how Elizabeth of York is later portrayed. We know that she came to England during a very difficult and tumultuous time where her husband Edward III was a ruler in name only.
She was a patron of the arts and clearly intelligent, advising her husband in ways they could restore order after the financial strains the country had gone through. At one point she gathered the English army to face King David II of Scotland which resulted in his capture. Phillips even had a whopping thirteen children!
All of that is well and good, but the part of her so many people focus on these days is what she looked like.
There is a description of a girl, alleged by some to be Philippa, written by Bishop Stapleton during a visit to Flanders.
"The lady whom we saw has not uncomely hair, betwixt blue-black and brown… Her face narrows between the eyes and its lower part is more narrow than her forehead. Her eyes are blackish-brown and deep. Her nose is fairly smooth and even, save that it is somewhat broad at the tip and flattened, and yet it is no snub-nose… Her lips are full, especially the lower lip… Her lower teeth project a little beyond the upper; yet this is but little seen… All her body is well set and unmaimed; and nought is amiss so far as a man may see. Moreover, she is brown of skin all over, much like her father. And she will be of the age of nine years on St. John's day next to come, as her mother said. She is neither too tall nor too short for such an age; she is of fair carriage. The damsel is well taught in all that becometh her rank and highly esteemed and well beloved by her parents and of all her meinie, in so far as we could inquire and learn the truth. In all things, she is pleasant enough, as it seems to us"
*Note that "However, "Michael Prestwich's 2005 summary translates the description of the hair as "between blonde and brown" (the original is "entre bloy et brun"); Plantagenet England, 1225–1360 Clarendon, Oxford, 2005, p.215"
Now there's a lot of debate about this description - first and foremost, if it describes her at all. Ian Mortimer believes it describes her sister, Margaret, and wrote a rather angry response to the 100 Greatest Black Britons project including her as there was no evidence she was black "despite everything we know about them, their genetic background and culture of the period".
Whether or not it was Philippa, I do find it interesting that the historians who argue it is Margaret seem to miss what I think is a fairly obvious point: no matter which girl it was, they were full-blooded sisters and likely looked alike but also their father is described as having the same skintone.
In a time of a raceblind Hamilton cast, of Bridgerton, and My Lady Jane, I do think it's important that we acknowledge the importance of race throughout history - both how things were, and how they could have been if not for prejudice. I also believe it's important that we're mindful of the fact that there's a very modern perception that associates blackness with both skintone and originating from Africa at some point in time, so there's no way European royals could possess a darker skintone. Only it's not that simple.
The truth is there are no absolutes with history, especially history this old. We were not there. We cannot unravel the code of Philippa's genetics and state for certain what was there. We don't have a photograph. We don't even have paintings.
Hell, just look to how many people today are discovering their own history is a lie after taking a DNA test. The number of affairs exposed, secret adoptions, even incest is showing to be more prevalent than we believed. That's to say nothing of the expression of genetics and how a person might not "look" like the ethnicity they genetically are.
Philippa very well could have been "brown of skin all over, much like her father", or not.
In a modern society she might have considered herself to be black, or not.
The important thing is we should not take the current context of race and ethnicity and apply it to historical figures because we know they themselves did not think in such a manner.
It's fun to think about, and the discussions it brings up are worth having, but at the end of the day it's just supposition.

Do you think the Aryan Invasion Theory is true? I watching Mahabharata (star plus) and they kept using Aryavarta which reminded me of the Aryan race that Hilter used and so I did a little research and obviously he had no idea what he was talking about but what I found on the theory was a bit unsettling. I always believed that Hinduism/Sanskrit/Vedas originated in India (Indus Valley) but this theory seems to have genetic research to support it and it set off my whole belief system and gave me an identity crisis for some reason
Well, I am not really big on this theory because it has zilch proof to it as far as I have seen, only theories.
A simplified take on the same is the Indian Express article on Rakhigarhi excavation.
Other than that, there was this lengthy India Today article on the same excavation that gave me a headache because it won’t go to the fucking point, but I suppose it is in favour of the theory? I don’t know man, it’s fucking long and I did not read it all, just understood that IVC people from 4500 were native and that apparently we have outsider DNA.
There is no proof of any migration other than those based on change in genetic make up, a more plausible theory of which I explain later.
The interesting thing is, that the said Aryan invasion Theory first pinned us to be central asians from 1500BC and now we are Iranian farmers. It completely ignores the fact that Indians have little genes in common with Europeans who we supposedly come from moreso with South Indians (and I mean much more, we have almost the same gene combination except a few), and seems as if the India today article, based on the same premise of “Aryans had this one gene (r1 to be more specific) common with Iranians that Indus people did not have” fails to realise that people from the northwest of Indian subcontinent can have common genes with the bordering land for other reasons aswell because no shit sherlock, people fuck💀
I mean, how else do you explain the much higher genetic connection to south indians?
Another factor they use for the theory is the simultaneous developement of modern day Hinduism and Zorastrianism, but that too can be chalked upto influence rather than migration, given that Hinduism is actually older by a little margin (oldest living religion) and for the theory to be true, the migration should have gone westward instead.
Heck, the influence thing can easily exclude the theory altogther, because Iran is close to what are now the areas of IVC, and them slowly influencing the culture during or after IVC when they became more civil, (in 4000BC) or us doing the same, or even intermixing of the two will make more sense than AIT.
The migration of these Aryans cannot be proven otherwise aswell because there lies no proof for same. Literally none. The archeologist in the India today article and few others uphold it yet are unable to prove it beyond circumstantial evidence that makes more sense when turned against the theory rather than its favour, like the Iranian thing I mentioned. It might also very well be a migration to eastwards in Hind from the western part, because the Vedas were written before the supposed “Vedic Aryan invaders” happened and they are clearly neither Monotheistic nor Tribal, and align more with the Indic religions, so I digress they came from Central Asia or Iran.
Plus, the Vedas were written by the "aryans" on banks of saraswati, and the saraswati dried up centuries before they "destroyed IVC and took over". Another interesting thing is that Saraswati flew through the IVC sooooo.... yeah, maybe it all can be summed up to people fucking🫠
The thing is, we are locals, this culture was very much developed here on this land. Vedas, Sanskrit, Sanatan, there is a reason you do not see traces of them elsewhere, and I am certain this theory is BS because of the little I have read, because it has nothing to prove for itself.
But other than that, this particular subject was never of my interest because of how lengthy it was, and I fucking sucked at history, so may I suggest asking others who do think of this topic as often. I only know @tiananmen-square-orgy to be my nerdy mutual on this topic, and if finnie cannot help you I'll try geting you connected to a friend who is not on tumblr yet can help becuase of his extensive knowledge.

Interracial Dating Guide #dating
Bless and Release.
Hello, I’m Jay Ramal, a 36-year-old man with roots in northern India and a hint of Middle Eastern heritage.
Standing at 5 feet 11 inches with an athletic build, I’ve journeyed through life as a passionate yogi, a dedicated affiliate marketer in the dating niche, and an interracial dating coach. Before we dive into the heart of this guide on interracial dating and marriage, let me tell you a bit more about myself.
Unlike some of our other videos, this one is audio-only. So, close your eyes, sit back, and let your imagination do the work.
I’ve had the unique experience of dating women from 28 different nationalities. You’d think the differences would be striking, wouldn’t you? Women from lands far from the homeland of my ancestors, with appearances vastly different from mine.
And yet, in many cases, I discovered striking similarities in how we were wired psychologically. Sometimes, without even talking about it, we just understood each other.
Some women shared common words, up to 20 percent, with my native languages and Sanskrit. This included women from the Middle East and Eastern Europe, creating a bond that transcended borders.
It’s a fascinating experience. If you’ve had something similar, please share it in the comments below.
Now, my passion lies in staying fit and healthy and helping others navigate the often complex world of relationships. That’s why I started WealthyLoveWell.com—to guide folks through the dating market, especially when it comes to dating across cultures.
I was born in the USA but eventually found my way to Australia, where I met my wife, an Australian woman of white Anglo-Saxon descent.
I’ve always held progressive and liberal views. I’m not particularly religious, though I grew up in a Roman Catholic family with very Westernized values.
My love for meeting women from all races and cultures stems from a genuine excitement for learning and experiencing life from different perspectives. You could say I’ve been a serial interracial dater.
And in 2024, I took one of those DNA tests—you know the type. It turns out I’m not just Indian. I’ve got a little bit of Middle Eastern and Northern European (Viking heritage) mixed in there, too. It’s a small world.
This revelation got me thinking about the concept of interracial dating. It’s not just an idea; it’s a practical reality of life on this tiny blue planet. As Carl Sagan once said, we live on a “mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.” Our geographical differences are so small that we’re practically living on top of each other on the scale of the universe.
Yet, despite our genetic similarities, cultural differences can sometimes make us feel like we’re worlds apart. We differ in how we process emotions, facts, political views, family values, and our sense of right and wrong. In many ways, we think more differently than we look.
So, I’ve put together a checklist for interracial dating and marriage. It’s drawn from my own experiences dating women from 28 different nationalities. Keep in mind that this is based on my journey, and your experience may differ. That’s okay. The goal here is to help you navigate and ensure that your dating journey leads to a fulfilling relationship, possibly even marriage, if that’s what you aim for.
Before we dive in, I’d appreciate your support. If you could, hit the like and subscribe buttons, and share this content with anyone who might benefit from it.
Now, let’s begin with the checklist.
Number 1 on the list is the “herd instinct.”
If you’re dating someone from a culture like Indian, Italian, Greek, Spanish, Middle Eastern, Eastern European, Latin American, or Pacific Islander, you might come across this phenomenon. Feel free to add more examples in the comments if you wish.
This herd instinct is something I know all too well. It’s the sense of belonging, the need to stay close to one’s family and community. When you date someone with this instinct, you’re not just dating them but their entire family.
If Nona or Abuela welcomes you, you’re quickly accepted as part of the herd, one of their own. As Dominic Toretto said in “Fast & Furious 8,” “For family.”
I find dating people from these cultures highly relatable to my own experience. Often, their extended families live nearby, and there are regular family gatherings, grand dinners, and birthday parties almost every Saturday. Attendance? Almost mandatory. People in these communities draw energy, comfort, and solace from being close to their herd, which is beautiful. Isn’t it?
If you come from a different background, you might find it hard to influence your partner to move away to another state or country. And even if they do, they may still long to rejoin the herd together at some point in your life. This can create tension in your relationship or marriage.
So, if you’re dating someone from these cultures and you have plans to move away, know that it could cause friction. Be kind and upfront. It’s unfair to expect someone to change who they are to please you.
Ask the serious question—are they willing to move away, knowing they may not see their family every week or join the herd regularly? If your date or partner is unsure or seems unconvincing in keeping you, “bless and release” may be the most unselfish thing to do.
Or you must be willing to join, like that dude from “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” who joined the big Greek family and went along for the ride. If you are willing to fully immerse yourself in their culture, this is a good sign to continue the relationship.
Number 2 – The sacred cow issue.
If you have dated an Indian, Middle Eastern, Black, Hispanic, Spanish, Russian, or Italian person, and you happen not to get along with their mother or grandmother, you may have said something disparaging, like calling them a cow in an argument with your partner, and shortly after found yourself being dumped or your marriage ended.
For the above cultures, the mother is the sacred cow. You must be willing to handle disputes with kindness and tact, even if she is wrong. Therefore, if you do not think you can handle matters tactfully and calmly in a sacred manner, it is better to “bless and release” them or not get into relationships with people who hold their mothers in the same light as the sacred cow.
Save yourself and them from future tensions, or again, I say, bless and release.

“Another may have to do with the volumes of information we have and have had for a long time about the various countries and regions in Europe where as Africa was mostly split up between the desert and not the desert, learned some German history in High School but did you learn about Chad or Kenya. That's a thing that's getting better too. “
Yeah that the thing (thanks social Darwinism) for decades we had bare minimum information about Africa in the Americas which cause a identity crisis among
Now for claiming Africa, well for centuries black Americans were told that Africa was only a shithole by white supremacists and the only “African” empire that was known was Egypt
Though an extremely fetishized as AC Origins discovery tour pointed it Egyptmongy was very different to what it is now.
Actually tangent, Dave from here posted a video of black teens selling cornstarch on tik tok. I pointed it out that that been happening in my family for generations
Then he found an article saying a lot of central Africas eat mud.
…Also did my research and learn black Americans especially in the north eat corn starch because we couldn’t make the same conditions for eating mud.
Well at least I know it genetic!
Now after women king came out, I think you posted a screenshot where dna ancestry can show us what tribes black Americans with slave ancestry came from….tbh I should have realize that because Assassins Creed is based off pseudo science inspired by dna ancestry
But I notice in general that black Americans are taught a 60’s pan Africa style of African history (almost like our education system is shit) which is why a lot of native Africans complain about the look of Wakanda and why Americans think their living in 600 bc
Because…that how we were taught in public school systems. Only vauge references to African kingdoms beyond Egypt
Do you really think we would have lionized the Dahomey if the fact they are reasons my people were slaves much like Jews know about their dispora cause by Hadrian?
Are there any African tribes that worked with the French to stop the Dahomey? I got a idea
Now for claiming Africa, well for centuries black Americans were told that Africa was only a shithole by white supremacists and the only “African” empire that was known was Egypt.
Ethiopia gets a mention here and there too, been around a long time but they're just a stones throw away of the Arabian peninsula they didn't get too far south cuz malaria and such though, even Egypt didn't go too far south.
We don't get a lot about the history of SubSaharan Africa because nobody knows what it is.
MENA, most of Asia, and Europe we have written records for, stuff we can cross check with other written records if people want to start in on 'oral history' stuff which there's no concrete way to prove.
That dirt thing was new to me, if it works though why not.
But I notice in general that black Americans are taught a 60’s pan Africa style of African history (almost like our education system is shit) which is why a lot of native Africans complain about the look of Wakanda and why Americans think their living in 600 bc
I know we covered the Zulu's when I was in school, but again they're easy since not only are they kind of recent, as kingdoms go, they also were interacting with the European powers, and getting their asses handed to them at Rorkes Drift, one reason the whole we'd have had wakanda if not for colonialism dies really fast, one of the main things Europeans traded to Africans was guns and other bits of technology that they didn't have.
The Americas were still basically in the stone age portion of the global technology tree, not a lot of metalworking going on.
Iron swords and armor were a superweapon at the crossover point of the bronze and iron ages and we showed up on the continents with steel.
On the information front it would be interesting to get the oral histories collected, not that it could be taken as factual information, Bible is fairly accurate but has its issues as well, mostly embellishing the size of armies and such, but getting stories from there would be nice I think get that tossed into the world history courses.
Do you really think we would have lionized the Dahomey if the fact they are reasons my people were slaves much like Jews know about their dispora cause by Hadrian?
might have had a tougher time selling it, but remember it was a white woman that put that film together so it may well have still happened.
If they want something good with a group that actually fought for freedom against those who were enslaving them, you have to step out of Africa and into Mexico but the Yaqui Indians, the federal government of Mexico was scoping them up and selling them for $1 or less to sugar plantations that would literally work them to death.
This is after kicking France out mind you, and they were doing this up into the 20th century, because the Yaqui refused to submit to Mexican rule at least that's one reason they were sold to farmers. ___________________
That's another thing they don't teach in school for you.
Many Yaqui were sold at 60 pesos a head to the owners of sugar cane plantations in Oaxaca and the tobacco planters of the Valle Nacional, while thousands more were sold to the henequen plantation owners of the Yucatán.
By 1908, at least 5,000 Yaqui had been sold into slavery. At Valle Nacional, the enslaved Yaquis were worked until they died. While there were occasional escapes, the escapees were far from home and, without support or assistance, most died of hunger while begging for food on the road out of the valley toward Córdoba.
At Guaymas, thousands more Yaquis were put on boats and shipped to San Blas, where they were forced to walk more than 200 miles to San Marcos and its train station. Many women and children could not withstand the three-week journey over the mountains, and their bodies were left by the side of the road. The Mexican government established large concentration camps at San Marcos, where the remaining Yaqui families were broken up and segregated. Individuals were then sold into slavery inside the station and packed into train cars which took them to Veracruz, where they were embarked yet again for the port town of Progreso in the Yucatán. There they were transported to their final destination, the nearby henequen plantations. ____________________
There's more of them in the US than Mexico, in a twist of irony they came to the US to escape slavery and ethnic cleansing.
Are there any African tribes that worked with the French to stop the Dahomey? I got a idea
Ya whichever ones the Dahomey were using for slaves likely linked up with the French on that one, much like with Mexico it was Cortez and 300 Spaniards as well as 30,000 pissed off locals who were tired of having their children hauled off to be human sacrifices.

At least when I hear Americans say they are Irish or Italian for example, I understand that they most often mean that it’s their heritage or part of it. Almost seems like people are trying to misunderstand on purpose if they don’t understand that.
I’m Swedish and I read quite a bit about the Swedish emigration to America. Which is a big part of our history really. Over 1 million people emigranted from what was then a very poor and religiously strict country. It was about a quarter of the population that left in the span of 60-70 years, so very significant. For example the closest relatives I know who emigrated might be something like siblings or nieces and nephews of a great grandfather, but when I did a DNA test there were so many Americans who showed up as distant relatives.
But it’s also a forgotten part of our history in a way, because the results of it isn’t our history anymore. All the decendants of those people became Americans instead, and only one group of people who came from all over. You still see those names among lots of well known Americans, like ending on -berg or -strom or -son and you can figure that a few generations back they probably have a Swedish ancestor.
Anyway, while early generations of immigrants may have associated the country of origin with poverty and the reasons why they left, language was lost and so on, I think it’s only fun and great that new generations are interested in that heritage and want to connect with it again. There is a tv show here called Allt för Sverige (All for Sweden) where Americans come here to discover their ancestry in a sort of competition format. It’s run for 10 years so far and pretty popular.
Firstly that game show sounds so fun lol! And yeah america had massive immigration waves from european countries at different times throughout history, all having different reactions from present populations and changing american culture in varying ways, and usually they settled in specific areas that the patterns are quite obvious even now. take my state of wisconsin. most immigrants and settlers were germans and scandinavians plus some others. all that culture had a big impact on wisconsin as a whole and the families who still are here today, hence many would say they're german/german american just meaning they have german ancestry which is very common for the area. idk why its that difficult for some people to grasp, i don't think its that confusing to understand linguistically 😅

What’s your ethnic background?
interesting personal question...
i am white british*. i don't have any definitive proof of anywhere where i'm from even in the uk because i never knew my grandparents very well, they couldn't even tell me if they came from london or not! i know my great grandma's dad was from far east asia and my great uncle was arrested for "looking like a terrorist" in the 80s, fun story there.
based on appearances i have no northern european features, and no one in my family does! we all have olive skin that tans, dark hair and dark eyes, as well as me, my dad and grandad all having humped noses. high school was terrible for me, in a blonde haired blue eyed school i got a lot of comments about "having a jew nose" in history class, so i can't imagine what it would have been like for anyone else! oh and my great grandad on my mother's mother side was from morocco.
so...i don't know. i don't want to say i'm from any specific background but i'd really love to do ancestry and dna testing to know where i'm from, even if it's from another area in the uk, my dad's family were rumoured to be spanish descended irish. somebody immigrated from somewhere at some point but don't know who, when or where!
i hope that answered your question! i really don't want to come off as a "culture vulture" who's trying to be more "ethnic", all i know is that i don't look northern european and none of my family does.

[Image IDs: Text reading: (start bold) We did an episode not so long ago about how people from certain populations in North and West Africa were more likely to have a trait that makes the predisposed to sickle cell anemia. Is it possible that we risk missing out on important scientific realities if we are skittish about getting into genetics and race? (end bold)
I think we need to be careful about what we mean when we say race. We know that the sickle cell trait exists in those regions of he world where cases of malaria are high, and that is because, as devastating as it is to have sickle cell anemia, having the trait provides some resistance to malaria. So in the regions where it exists, it is beneficial to the people who have it, because one risk outweighs the other. And this means it's geographical—it's not racial. It exists in certain parts of Africa and not all, and it exists in other parts of the world outside Africa, where people don't have black skin.
The reason it looks racialized in the U.S. is because in the U.S., many white people are of European ancestry, and many black people, because of the history of slavery, are of West African ancestry. That means that in the U.S., you see far higher rates of sickle cell in the black population that the white population.
But globally, it doesn't look racialized. Globally, it looks as though people in certain regions of the world have it. So in the U.S., when people talk about sickle cell being a black disease or black illness, they're really using race as a proxy for geography.
And that goes for many illnesses or diseases that we think about as being racialized. Black Americans are mole likely to die of almost everything that white Americans. The life expectancy of a black American is lower than a white American. It is perverse to assume that this must be genetic. Are black Americans so genetically disadvantaged that even infant mortality would be higher in black Americans? It just doesn't make any sense. In the U.K., where I live, we see this life expectancy gap between the rich and the poor. It is exactly the same in America, but in America, it is treated as racial because socioeconomic circumstances run along racial lines.
(Start bold) The inscription in your book reads, "For my parents, the only ancestors I need to know." What does that mean? (end bold)
Well, that kind of is a joke at ancestry-testing companies—when they tell us that you can find out who you are descended from, thousands of generations back, to your "actual ancestors." One, you can't tell me who my actual ancestors are, because DNA testing cannot tell you that.
But secondly, why does it matter? Why is it so important to us to know who our distant ancestors were when we have people alive with us right now who can give us our culture, who give us our frameworks, who give us our sense of who we are, our sense of right and wrong, our place in the world?
[Race scientists] play on your sense of ethnicity or sense of origin story. They build up this image of you as being a biological essential person, and that this ties you to this identity, and it becomes embedded in who you are.
And this is what ethnic nationalist do. They play on these assumptions and stereotypes and the lack of education that we have around these issues, and they make us believe that identity is biological, when identity is cultural. /End IDs]

This NPR interview with with Angela Saini about how race science never really left the global scientific consciousness is super interesting! I’m gonna read her book!

Not the American with Italian ancestry actually calling themselves Italian - then using that as a full blown basis for disrespecting an entire country’s history and mythology. 😭
I’m American, it’s my understanding that when Americans who are far removed from their ancestry in Europe claim to be directly from there are kind of a laughingstock over in Europe? Is there some truth to this? Like I have Irish ancestry and I’d never even imagine to tell an actual Irish person “woah I’m Irish too! How cool!” Let alone following that up with something like “it’s in my history as an Irish person to hate the British. I am immune from criticism.”
Oh yes, it's happened again! 😂
You are right, it's laughable to us and this is not only in Europe but in all other continents as well. The "Old World" in general doesn't place the same gravity on such old ancestry as the countries that are 90% immigrants (I mean except the original Americans, the First Nations/Natives).
And it's not that we don't recognize the history of families. It's totally fine if someone states "I have Italian ancestors/My ancestors came from Spain two centuries ago". We just believe that if a person isn't in contact with the culture, or they know just 1% of it, their DNA/blood whatever doesn't make them part of this nation.
You can always engage with any open culture across the world but to claim to speak for it because of a great-grandparent feels soo out of place. As I always say in this blog; blood =/= culture. Of course in many countries there's a great overlap between ancestry and culture but we don't create a rule out of it because in our vast history our borders and nations have shifted a lot. If blood = culture logic was true, then that would deny immigrants/refugees/other people around the world the chance to partake in any other culture apart from their own.
A few ethnic groups - mainly New World Native ones - do count blood quantum, but in the Old World that's rarely the case. It's in fact, racist, to equate blood with culture here. For Greeks specifically, NW Europeans and Americans were and are very prepared to claim we are not "actually Greeks" because our people have mixed with other nations throughout the years. (As if any nation in the world is "pure" in blood, and as if one has to be "pure in blood" to know the teachings of their culture....)
Following that logic, do you know how many countries which I know very little about I can claim as my own because of great-grandparent ancestry? ooooo 😂

I am so grateful for this journey of self Discovery and ancestral healing, however it gets lonely sometimes. My circle has gotten smaller and my path and vision seemed to have changed overnight... AGAIN!!! I mean this is getting a little ridiculous!!! Okay whereas I do not do well with change and The Creator and my Spiritual Guides know this very well, however this one I am welcoming. I am ready to go ahead and face these recently discovered shadows and my responsibility in it. I am also ready to sever the relationships that I have been chasing that were toxic on both ends so that they as well as I may find what is meant to fill that spot. Chasing my Ancestors has been the start to my connection to my spiritual gifts. This particular spread allowed me to see my direction and next steps to my purpose. Yesterday was all about being still and connecting with my messages and this one seems to be an encouragement in that waiting period. In a lot of ways I have done all I can do even giving away energy on things that took joy and resources instead of providing them. Ventures that includes taking myself from my kids when I was already the only parent they have. So doing this has allowed me to take myself out of the guilt of others faults and rise up through the quicksand of struggle they left behind. The survival for me is not trying to fix anyone including myself, but to finally allow myself to be who I was created to be and relay the messages and stand not just for my African Ancestors but my European Ancestors and Spiritual gifts that have been forgotten by and demonized by the oppressors. I love Christianity it's original message and Proverbs of Christ are beautiful and progressive for that time. I tend to be very drawn to all spiritual backgrounds. I also Love how much of a socialist he was. It also shines a light on how far we have moved from our roots. As I watch each nation in such unrest I am reminded I have to stay close to The Creator, Listen to my guides and not be afraid to receive as well let go. I will not stop!! One thing is for sure. When you disconnect from your ancestors you disconnect from your spiritual gifts and then you disconnect from your people. When I research early Kingdom of Kongo which is part of my DNA I am saddened by in order for that advanced Kingdom to happen the indigenous people were enslaved and their culture and spiritual gifts stripped all in the name of the Oppressor's spiritual disconnection. What happened it fell as all nations do that are built on the innocent's blood sweat and tears. Karma may not hit right away. But does always hit! Every nation carries beauty as well as ugly ignoring both as left humans disconnected and lost. I am grateful for the pain and suffering that I am surviving to become connected with my true roots for the first time.

Chapter 1
They also described [the space ship] using words like graceful, elegant, and sleek, which she most certainly was not. The sight of Magellan brought to mind a seventeen-hundred-meter-long mechanical jellyfish with an inverted bell made of a giant dinner plate, drainage pipes, and an entire box of novelty bendy straws.
Oh, he’s trying so hard to be Douglas Adams, and somehow failing.
I think the problem is that we’re jumping right into describing an inanimate object (the ship, the Magellan)... You know, rather than jump straight into a really ordinary man and his really ordinary problems.
Buried beneath a jacket of water built into the ship’s hull to shield them from cosmic radiation eager to redecorate their DNA, the crew chilled through the dull bits of their journey in cryogenic pods set at less than a tenth of a degree above freezing. Hearts beat once every other minute. Blood flowed with the speed of buttercream frosting. Dreams played at a pace that would make a Galápagos tortoise glance at its watch.
We are literally still on page one. Speaking of things moving slower than a glacier…
As her consciousness stirred, Allison drew on the considerable experience she’d acquired in college to deal with the worst hangover imaginable.
While I do think that Douglas Adams was the inspiration for all of this, I do believe that the author is drawing from the 00’s era LOL sO rAndOm. Because bizarre lines like this keep being thrown at the readers, and it’s like… “Okay.” None of it is particularly funny.
SIGH. This is going to turn into a “Lights Out” thing, where I tell you guys how many times that I seriously laughed out loud per chapter and then across the duology…
“Immediately, Captain Ridgeway.” Magellan tried not to let any smug vindication creep into her tone. Without success.
Chapter 1 summary: Meet Magellan aka Maggie, a spaceship with artificial intelligence. She’s currently carrying a bunch of humans in cryo-chambers for what’s supposed to be an 8 month journey to a specific destination. However, as she’s cruising along, Maggie sees something in the distance. Which isn’t all that odd, except that the velocity of this object is literally zero. Do you know how odd that something like that is?
So she wakes up the captain, Allison, in order to get permission to investigate. At first, Alison is kind of annoyed that she was only under for a week before being woken up for this. Then she decides that Maggie won’t leave this alone until she’s answered her questions about the mysterious object, so Allison agrees to let Maggie do a fly-by.
However, as they get closer to the object, Allison realises what it is. (Except that the readers don’t know.) Allison tells Maggie to scoop the thing up into the dock and to wake everybody else up.

Chapter 2
A moment should be devoted to explain the groundbreaking technology referred to as the QER. The Quantum Entanglement Radio is one of the great accomplishments of mankind…
The narration then explains that they literally invented a radio communication device, but needed an entire page and more unholy metaphors to explain this to us.
I think that this is my main problem so far: that they’re using 500 words when 10 will do.
The newly minted member of the American/European Union Parliament…
My god, don’t threaten me with a good time.
“What are we going to do?”
“Do you remember what Montezuma II did when he mistook Cortés for Quetzalcoatl?”
“Yeah?”
 “Hopefully not that.”
This joke would probably be a lot funnier if the author could explain what happened to the readers. There’s no way in hell that I’m going to go out of my way to look this up when the author can’t even be bothered.
Instead, this moment is being tossed directly onto the increasingly large pile of “unfunny jokes that waste too much page time”.
“I’m sorry, Corporal Harris, but it looks like you’re going to need to do that rapid packing we spoke about.”
Chapter 2 summary: As mentioned, the chapter felt the need to start off with explaining to the readers what a radio is… without somehow explaining jack-shit. For an entire fucking page.
Then, we’re introduced to Eugene, who is… basically in charge of the space division being run out of Washington DC. He’s awoken in the middle of the night by his assistant, Jefferey, and told that there’s an urgent message from the Maggie ship. What happens next is a really painful step-by-step process of Eugene getting into his self-driving car, going into the city, being waved in by the guards, making awkward small-talk with the guard escorting him… It’s so fucking unnecessary.
In the room where they keep this fancy radio, Eugene is greeted by the man whose job it is to monitor the radio for transmissions. We’re subjected to not only more awkward and unnecessary small-talk about it… But the man has a freaking Cockney accent that’s typed out. Why. Why the fuck would you write this?
Finally, Eugene looks at the message from Allison, which is basically “We found something and we think that it’s aliens.” Eugene tells Jeffrey to schedule an urgent meeting with the President about this, and tells everybody to keep this under-wraps.
However, on his way out, Eugene pointedly tells Jeffrey “have a nightcap and don’t think about aliens!” Which is obviously overheard by the man who’d escorted Eugene to the room. SIGH.

There are also structures in the Americas (South America included) that are beyond our current dating knowledge.
The foundations of the Inka walls that were clearly constructed by different methods than that of the walls built on top of them, for example. As I understand it, we don't yet know how those massive stones were shaped, let alone moved from their quarry, which was often many miles away from the location we find the stones in in their final form.
Tumblr media Tumblr media

In Montana (although it might be Idaho, I can't remember exactly) there are structures which appear to be constructed by humans but their location is far removed from any known ancient civilization. Furthermore, they're found in a relatively remote location amongst mountainous terrain and well within an old forest.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(courtesy, Google image search of 'ancient stone walls in montana')
So, yeah. The history of civilization in the Americas goes very far back in time. To the point where we don't have any real data that helps us to accurately pinpoint when these structures were made.
HOWEVER; this information isn't exactly relevant to OP's point. I believe their point was about how conceptions of time and distance differ between Europeans and Americans.
That point still stands due to the fact that Americans are, in general, not the descendants of the American natives (even tho many of us share DNA with native populations, myself included).
In summary, I beseech thee, oh, mighty college professor, to consider my short essay as being worthy of a passing grade. May your life be long and your days filled with joy. May your children and grandchildren frolic amongst the daffodils and never know for wont of thirst or hunger. May your days be joyous and your nights restful.
Now give me my fucking A
My favorite thing is that Europe is spooky because it’s old and America is spooky because it’s big
