I recently read a fic that unlocked a previously undiscovered interest of mine, and i cant seem to find any other fics like it, so you guys get to watch me spiral (again)

This came from the Talia al-Ghul is Jason Todd's adopted mom pipeline, and the fic was a very short blurb where someone offered Jason the Joker's death as a courting gift, as according to the League of Assassin's tradition had to ask for Ra's blessing as the head of his family, and Damian tranqued Batman to let this happen, because 'this has nothing to do with you, Father, this is al-Ghul family business' and aaaaaa

Just, the League having its own culture, traditions.

I know its Ra's assassins club, but he is old as fuck. There have probably been families that are part of the League for generations. This amounts to not inly courting traditions, but customs, manners, holidays, all with a different twist that came with time in this isolated society, and i just want to see more fics that explore this.

Damian being cut out of his culture completely, no idea why no one responds the way he expects, not because of trauma and 'why is no one punishing or praising me', but genuine 'i told Drake i could demonstrate my skills with a blade for him, and why didnt he offer to show me how he fights with his staff??? He didnt even say he already knew how to use blades, is he implying that i am not sufficiently trained to be capable of teaching him? Does he think i am not worthy of being in this family, and thats why he refuses to train with me??'

(Meanwhile Tim firmly believes he just got threatened to be shish-kebabed by a 10 yo and is shook. Of course, Damian just wanted to spend quality time with his new family member the way he knows how to, but tim doesnt know that, and Damian doesn't know thats how tim understood it either)

And Jason being a part of the al-Ghul household, too, is very interesting. I love the concept of Talia sending him on his way to Gotham as Red Hood partialy to make the city safer for when Damian went over, Hood putting the fear of god into criminals so that the Demon Prince could walk through the city of his father with less fear and apprehension. Jason and Damian celebrating League holidays and traditions together (of course, jason only does it so the little guy can have this confor of home and family, he did promise T that he would take care of him, its not like he enjoys quality time with a family member he never tried to kill, or that he misses the conforts of the league and dinners with the al-Ghuls, of couse not).

i finished it, was kicked out of the game, and then spent the next 10 minutes drawing this. i will now go take a shower, most likely cry, and then go through the emotional turmoil of convincing myself to reset so i can do a geno run. i hate it here :D

Jade had not had a sleep schedule in at least two decades by now. She could force herself to rest whenever there happened to be an opportunity for it, and in reverse go for long stretches without getting multiple hours of sleep consecutively. It wasn't good for her, but it was a necessity.

She must've been more tired than she thought she was, though, because even though her ribs aching and she had done her best to not sleep, the next thing she knew, she was blinking her eyes back open, and Lian was staring back at her.

"I thought you were asleep." She had been, last Jade remembered. The shadows in the room had not changed, so her little nap couldn't have lasted for too long.

"I wasn't", Lian mumbled. She definitely had been, Jade had been looking at her too intensely to not notice that she was faking it.

"Of course." She didn't say out loud that she didn't believe her, but she wasn't too occupied in concealing her thoughts in her tone. Lian must've heard it, because she proceeded to scrunch up her nose and rub at her eyes rather forcefully.

Jade couldn't help but wonder if that was the very same expression Jason had said she and Lian both shared.

She wanted it to be.

"It's okay", she said. There was a strand of her that had escaped from Lian's ponytail. Jade dared to reach her hand and brush it off of her face. Lian turned her head more towards her hand, maybe instinctually, maybe on purpose, Jade didn't know, but she was thankful for it all the same, since either option meant that Lian still wanted to do so. Wanted her here, with her, still.

Some part of her felt dirty for ever even doubting it. Lian was such a good girl. Of course she could find love for a mother like her. She was so good. So, so good.

It still left Jade in awe, most of the time, when she even thought of Lian, the fact that she had created a whole another person, that Lian was so good and that she was hers.

Lian stifled a yawn, and Jade stifled a laugh.

"I'm not tired", she said, and rubbed at her eyes again, a bit more gently this time. "Did I tell you about Hayden hitting our math teacher with a door?"

"I didn't think so." Even if she had, Jade would've listened to it all over again. Lian had been telling her little stories the whole evening, and Jade was pretty sure that she knew every single one of her schoomates by name by now.

Lian outright launched into the story, of her classmate running late, and how their slightly eccentric-sounding teacher had, for some reason, decided to stand behind the door, and gotten said door to his face for it. Lian kept having to stop between her sentences to let out a burst of tired giggles, and it was all such mundane and for that reason so surreal and precious that Jade couldn't help but laugh at it the same way, too.

She felt light, despite her ribs wanting to protest for the laughing. Perhaps in the morning Roy would decide that this was enough, that it was time for her to go, but laying there, in bed, in a shirt that wasn't hers and Lian right next to her, blankets drawn around them like they could hold off the entire world, Jade couldn't have cared less about anything or anyone else.

I can't really put it into words but Gangle throwing off her mask (ep 4) reminded me a lot of Pomni trying to get out of the exit (ep 1)

The music direction and the vibe were like same/similar but one was evil (until the door opened) and one was good (until the truck came by)? Idk what this could mean (it's 11:30pm I'm tired) but I'm thinking about it rotating it there's something there. They happen at similar timestamps too.

Also (because of the above AND the overwhelming B+ grade AND some other things) I'm thinking the circus is hitting the.. [purgatory/sisyphus/the good place/ride the cyclone/not quite truly dead yet] points in my brain. Idk tho this is just vibes! This category of things. And I think the point behind the purgatory is something to do with "correctly" completing the adventures. Which is to say incorrectly. Prove humanity by being human (unpredictable/sporadic/neurotic/angry/panicked). Or something.

It did not surprise anyone who knew her that Therese has had her entire life planned out since she was four years old. It did not surprise them that she has since stuck to that plan, either - going to Auradon Prep, preparing to graduate top of her class, and gearing up to take over her mother's restaurant. Therese has always been this way. Smart. Meticulous. Ambitious. Maybe it's those qualities that the prince liked in her. Maybe that's the reason he let her plan his life, too. And drop it does. Because, as if it's his mission in life to give Tess a heart attack, Ben decides to open the bridge to the Isle. And all hell breaks loose. When the villain kids arrive, Auradon is swiftly thrown into chaos. From tourney to science class, it's clear the kingdom will never be the same. But Tess will always side with Ben, and she's big enough to admit they're not all bad. ... Even if Jafar's son manages to get under her skin. Really under her skin. As soon as he gets the chance, Jay promptly throws Tess's entire life plan out the window, offering to show her a world she's never known. And as her best friend falls for a complete stranger and her school crumbles beneath their own petty biases, she can't say she's not tempted by the idea. The plan is still in action.
