YALL I AM SCREAMING
The new Agatha All Along episode was WILD
My thoughts are below the cut and not completely in order but oh my GOD
I don't think I can put all my thoughts down right now but BRO.
RIP William Kaplan - and on his Bar Mitzvah day :(
I was NOT expecting Lilia to have been the one to place the sigil on him but it makes sense: she saw Something and wanted to protect him from others. It was cool seeing how it worked.
Seeing Alice again was the highlight of my day <3
I did not realize Billy also had mind reading powers, that's wild.
"Agatha Harkness: SUCCUBUS POWERS" when the internet kook can only be correct so far
Also he was not kidding about following Jen for the skin care sjdjdksj I thought he just researched her last minute that's so funny
THE FUCKING- EPISODE ONE FROM HIS PERSPECTIVE WAS SO FUNNY. AGATHA WAS SO DEEP IN THE TRUE CRIME. The painting being above her own fireplace 😭
Eddie was very chill and awesome. Shout out to the text he sent saying Billy was his [Black Heart]. Everybody gotta have a crazy goth.
SPEAKING OF- I lost my MIND cackling when Ralph (RIP theories of Agatha referencing Rio as her husband) said "you don't know what kind of crazy that lady eats for breakfast" and my brain IMMEDIATELY supplied: Rio Vidal.
Hahn really FLEXED her acting with all the different emotions this episode. My bog witch <3 Rio would be so proud. I love that Agatha has a mix of pride and appreciation for Billy, and made SURE he heard all of the things she wished her mother would have said to her (that HURT), but also was a bit "you bitch that was my best coat" (such a good coat). I need need NEED them to have a mentor mentee dynamic after this - Agatha wants it but Billy is being dumb about it; let your other mom raise you!!! Her wife is cool, too!
I hope Jen and Lilia are okay!! If Agatha can get out of the icky icky mud, surely they can. Very much looking forward to the next episodes!!!!

WiP Wednesday
Thank you for the tags @lokimobius @kcscribbler and @thosegayoldmen 😘🥰
So, remember that post I uploaded like... this morning, about the Lokius/BG3 brainrot being real? And five minutes later, I had IDEAS?
I give you, the first draft of a fairytale prologue. Because now I have the whole thing plotted out in my head, start to finish - and NOTE TO SELF: it's gonna be A ONE-OFF FIC, not a bajillion chapters.
~***~
Once upon a time, there lived an elven lord who wanted for nothing. His wife was formidable, a warrior in her own right, and gifted with magic. They’d fought together, side by side, as long as they’d known each other. He was her blade; she was his shield. They lived for each other. They fought for justice and honour, and for a time they were happy.
But when they had their firstborn, she was fulfilled in ways her husband could not be. The lord secretly wanted more than the quietude of domestic life and a political position away from the battlefield. He longed for knowledge, and through it, power.
That longing brought him to one of the Nine Layers of Hell, where he fought all manner of demons. Wading through the darkest depths in search of enlightenment.
What he found was not knowledge. It was not power, the way he’d anticipated.
What he found was a newborn tiefling, with dark blue skin and the most vivid, orange eyes, and within the elven lord something…stirred. Compassion, for a hornéd Hellspawn.
He brought the child back home to his lady wife, whose heart swelled for the baby. She would love him forever, like one of her own. The lord dismayed. They could never raise a tiefling child. Even under their protection, he would never be safe from harm.
So it was that they took the baby to an old woman who lived in the marshlands to the south, for she was as old as time, and knowledgeable of the old magics that governed the wilderness.
“Please,” the lord begged the hag. “Make this child invisible to those who would hurt him.”
“Shield him,” begged the lady. “In ways I cannot.”
“Let him grow up as part of our family. He has no one else but us.”
The hag considered their words, and plucked the baby from its new mother’s arms. She weighed and measured him by the scope of her eye, from the tips of his black horns to the tip of his dusty blue tail. “I’ll do as you ask, my lord. Transform the boy indefinitely, in your image. He'll want for nothing, raised as an elf in such a wealthy household. Money. Status. Power.”
“In exchange for your left eye,” said the hag to the lord. “I’ll give him the prettiest face in all the land, and let him keep his innate abilities.”
The thieving parents were pleased, having thought a bargain with a bog witch would come at greater cost.
“But,” said the hag, one finger raised in warning. “My magic does not extend to the child's future offspring. Blood, like truth, will out. One way or the other.”
The lord turned to his lady wife, distraught. “Such can never come to pass. Devilspawn grandchildren bearing my name? No. The boy shall never know love,” he told the hag. “You must make it so, and he'll never want to marry.”
“No!” Said the would-be-mother. “He must know love, for that is what brought him to us.”
The hag considered this, and made her final verdict. “I promise you this: no matter the love you pour into him, it shall never be enough. Until one day, when he shall be seen for what he truly is, and neither man nor woman shall love the devil in him.”

A bit of a guide, since I have so many stories
Dragon Universe stories: The Will of the Whispering (TWOTW), The Hostile Credence (THC), The Dragons' Cosmos (TDC), Planetary Boundaries (PB), Cashmere, and Brackish TWOTW: Lester, Mildred, and a lot of kids THC: Seth, Niven, Ewan, Dunn, Flick, Tessa, etc. Lots of characters here, but they're more likely to be mentioned alongside the ones I've just named. TDC: Roscoe, Noah, Sylvester and their families. Bircha and Afensi are dragons in this story. PB: Huge cast, but there's Bianca, Brooklyn, Dorian, Florian, Trace, Lucinda, Andy, etc. Cashmere: Toryn, Hadeon, Riley (this is a retired story, however, and I reused Toryn and Hadeon in Geckos - they are Duncan's father and stepfather) Brackish: Basil (Christian), Cassidy, Wendy, Imogen, and Alison are the main characters outside of family members. (Imogen has a twin brother and Alison is her little sister, and ofc Basil and Cassidy's families are brought up frequently). Oh, and Sidony, the most important character. (A DRAGON) Pleasure Seekers series is my asexual incubus story and has four books planned. Characters include Xavier, Zachary, Clarissa, Eloise, Daphne, Bernardo, Fenton, Bethany... I can't keep up with this one, honestly, there are also a lot of characters here. ;) Name the Frogs: Irving's dad, Nestor, is a villain. Serrated Petals: Roland is a villainfucker, and that villain is Otto, and he has a side piece named Luther. Roland's little half-brother, Stanley, is dragged into this bullshit. Seasons: Vivian, Graham, and a ton of seasonal children. Easy to spot by all the mentions of weather and seasonal affinities! Stargazers' Hill universe: Stargazers' Hill (SGH), Before our Ghosts (BoG), and Rascal. I'm going to sum this up with "I have a lot of feelings about Ambrose and Thaddeus and Ferdinand/Hazel is my OTP, and Opal is my wife... okay, she's not, but she should be." Untitled story about automatons, featuring childhood enemies, Warren and Henry Maureen Maribel is the name of the story and the name of the character that the story focuses on. This is the child actress story. The Elephants Always Come Back: Mirza, Boris, Fredrick, Hana, Gustav, Moswen, etc. Love them. I name my Halloween spiders after these characters. Initials for story are TEACB, I call it TEACUP bc it's cuter. Geckos, Automata: Julian, Mortimer, Kieran, Rosalia, and Duncan. AND GECKOS AND AUTOMATA. This one is for sale, please buy it? Little Horrors: Hervey and Algernon, but they're not the only characters. Littlespace story with a side of horror/spooky vibes! Where the Lanterns Glow: Nolwen and Evander story. The witch story. Originally called Double Double Witch Boy in Trouble because it was supposed to just be sexy. Skin from the River: Three river dads have to go find their dangerous river son who used the bones and such from his waters to form a human body. This one is horror. I have a bunch of others and no time, but most are short stories or still in development. Stay tuned, I have over 1000 characters at this point <3

You know that I need to ask BG3 and Dragon Age 😉
Oh, lord. ALRIGHT. LET'S GET INTO IT, BABY! Thanks for the ask!
Dragon Age:
1. The first character I first fell in love with: Zevran or Morrigan. I don't remember which.
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Cassandra <3
3. The character everyone else loves that I don’t : I'm putting a target on my head, because I know that most all of my friends played them but. Cousland. Like, I get why people like playing them but lord they're boring.
4. The character I love that everyone else hates : Loghain.
5. The character I used to love but don’t any longer : Hm. Maybe Alistair? I don't dislike him at all! I just wouldn't romance him.
6. The character I would totally smooch : It'd be boring to just say Morrigan or Zev, so I will say Sten or Orsino. I loved Orsino.
7. The character I’d want to be like : Bro, I don't think I wanna be like any of those nasty lil' freaks. They are disasters. Maybe Varric. Varric seems like he's doing alright.
8. The character I’d slap : If I see Meredith or Corypheus, it's on sight. They're catching hands.
9. A pairing that I love : Mahariel/Morrigan. Love the bog witch and her feral wolf boy, both baffled by the city and humans. Also Cassandra/Lavellan. Or. Varric/Hawke. (Also, Hawke/Fenris/Isabella).
10. A pairing that I despise: Bro, I dunno. UH. Anything involving Meredith or Corypheus I guess. Just on principle?
Baldur's Gate
1. The first character I first fell in love with: It was Astarion or Zevlor, way back in early access. Unless we are saying that it's Baldur's Gate on the whole, as a series. If that's the case, it's Jaheira. Been in love with her since I was 14.
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Shadowheart. Day one in early access, she and I were not on good terms. Now, she is wife.
3. The character everyone else loves that I don’t: Gale. He's just alright.
4. The character I love that everyone else hates : Orin.
5. The character I used to love but don’t any longer : Maybe Gortash? I still like him a lot. But it's tempered a little bit. BUT I STILL LIKE HIM SO MUCH, DON'T COME AFTER ME.
6. The character I would totally smooch : Listen. Raphael, Haarlep, Jaheira. Probably Shadowheart. Jaheira.
7. The character I’d want to be like : Is it weird to say Jaheira? Nine-fingers maybe?
8. The character I’d slap : Raphael. But affectionately. I would slap Wyll's dad less affectionately.
9. A pairing that I love : Raphael x Tav/Durge, Raphael x Haarlep. Minthara/one of my friend's OC's. Jaheira/CHARNAME or older Tav. Astarion/one of my friend's OC's lol.
10. A pairing that I despise: Minthara/Orin isn't a favorite of mine. I don't know that I despise any pairings...there are some I don't like but like. I don't DESPISE a lot.

Hello! I'm asking everyone this, do you like AUs? Any you have/enjoy for cats?
Oh, you have no idea how I love AUs!!!!!
I have three (four) mains, where are happening Cats Scenes!
One with tuggerstrap (Munkustrap/Rum Tum Tugger, and their two kittens, Cysiek and TuśTuś, and the next seven OCs (Adonis, Cream, FanFanGrace, FinFun - son of Macavity and my OC, Silenia the cat witch, Jemmysweets - Munkustrap's mother, wife of Rumpus cat, daughter of Gus, Papurus, Tango, Sky and Mirage)!
Second one, tuggoffeleestrap, their kittens (Moon, Sun, Star), and one other OC (Bamblee, kid of Jemima and Alonzo)!!!
Third, with munkavity (two kittens - Haze and Shyny) and tuggoffelees (THOSE seven kittens - Amberlina, AlmonDisco, EarthyRose, FloweFlow, HoneyTrap, SpicyJuice, Vanilliarity), and Oranglow, a cat without second and third name.
Oh, right, there is also a very unfinished one with a skimblestrap and their four kittens (TokTok, Sputnik, Dreamer and Mumble Bumble)
And one tiny one with my OC/sona (Tikku) as a tuggotikkustrap!
Also, I wrote (for now paper and Polish only) fanfics where:
Macavity and Rum Tum Tugger are supervillian and superhero, Munkustrap is mayor, all of them are brothers.
Skimbleshanks is a mayor, Rum Tum Tugger is a rock star/supervillian, and Munkustrap is a mechanic/superhero, all are lovers and know about each other.
Munkustrap is living with his tribe in the jungle, deep in the forest, and Rum Tum Tugger is his lover. A problem? They are soulmates! Bigger problem? Munkustrap absolutely doesn't remember Tugger, because his memories were destroyed!
Munkustrap/Rum Tum Tugger, in cross between Cats and Strange Magic! With Munkustrap as a Bog King and Tugger... well, if anything, he is Marianne, but that isn't exactly true.
Oh, and that one where Tugger is a Rockstar, and Munkustrap is a firefighter!
So yeah, about me and AUs... you can say I'm absolutely not normal about them!

I saw your post about the local lgbtq and artist community and here's my two cents: tbh, you probably don't want to get too involved with a scene like that. I've had long conversations with my wife about when she was in a similar situation and she regrets ever being a part of it, even though it was her only irl community at the time. That kind of attitude has the potential to be even more damaging irl than it does online - we knew people who lost their housing over it. If you can, it may be good to seek other facets of the community (older folks for example are less likely to be acting like that), or at least make friends with a few solid folks who don't get involved in that behavior, and leave the rest alone. Sorry, I know it sucks, but in the case of my wife and many of our friends, it had long-lasting mental health consequences at the very least.
I will definitely do my best to stay on the drama-free side of things! I bogged myself down in tumblr witch-hunting culture as a vulnerable young teen and have no desire to go to that kind of place again.
I have a few solid friends and that's been enough to kind of keep me on the radar

The Beautifu Ones. By Silvia Moreno-Garcia. Tor, 2017.
Rating: 4.5/5 stars
Genre: fantasy
Series: N/A
Summary: They are the Beautiful Ones, Loisail’s most notable socialites, and this spring is Nina’s chance to join their ranks, courtesy of her well-connected cousin and his calculating wife. But the Grand Season has just begun, and already Nina’s debut has gone disastrously awry. She has always struggled to control her telekinesis—neighbors call her the Witch of Oldhouse—and the haphazard manifestations of her powers make her the subject of malicious gossip.
When entertainer Hector Auvray arrives to town, Nina is dazzled. A telekinetic like her, he has traveled the world performing his talents for admiring audiences. He sees Nina not as a witch, but ripe with potential to master her power under his tutelage. With Hector’s help, Nina’s talent blossoms, as does her love for him.
But great romances are for fairytales, and Hector is hiding a truth from Nina—and himself—that threatens to end their courtship before it truly begins.
***Full review below.***
Content Warnings: blood, misogynistic language, reference to self-harm
Overview: I don't remember where or when I first saw this book, but I do remember wanting to pick it up because I like Moreno-Garcia's work and I read romance. With 2023 winding down, I figured now is the time to pick it up - and I'm so glad I did! I blew through this book in 2 sittings and thoroughly enjoyed myself. If you're a romance fan, you'll probably enjoy the narrative structure (though if you're looking for something spicy, you should look elsewhere), and if you're a historical fantasy fan, you'll probably appreciate the blend of Gukded Age vibes with a dash of telekenesis. Personally, I was thoroughly engrossed by the characters and the plot, so for those reasons, this book gets 4.5 stars from me.
Writing: Moreno-Garcia's prose is enjoyable for a number of reasons: it balances telling and showing, it flows well, and it feels effortless. I really liked how the author evoked atmosphere and how she made the world of Loisail come alive without bogging down the narrative with worldbuilding or infodumping. Moreno-Garcia only includes as much detail as necessary, and I think that helped the plot move along.
Speaking of movement, I also appreciated the pace of this book. Having read a lot of romances, I've come across my fair share of books that seem to rush the narrative, especially towards the end. Moreno-Garcia's book, however, felt perfectly paced which allowed the plot and character relationships to breathe.
Plot: The plot of this book revolves around three main characters over the course of (roughly) one year. First, there's Nina Beaulieu, a young heiress woth telekenetic abilities who comes to Loisail for the Grand Season in hopes of fitting in with the Beautiful Ones (roughly Loisail's version of the ton). Second, there's Valerie, the wife of Nina's cousin. Valerie is tasked with introducing Nina to important people and instructing her in manners, but Valerie harbors an intense dislike for the girl for a number of reasons. Third, there's Hector Auvrey, an entertainer who uses his own telekinetic abilities to dazzle audiences all over the world. Hector has returned to Loisail after ten years away, all in hopes of seeing his lost love one more time. When he meets Nina, he sees an opportunity to find companionship, and the book follows these three protagonists as Hector and Nina begin a courtship.
I thoughoughly enjoyed this plot in part because it resembled a typical romance narrative. That's not to say it's derivative or tropey; though Moreno-Garcia does use some romance staples, the narrative as a whole feels fresh due to the fantastical setting and the introduction of telekinesis. I couldn't completely tune out Loisail the way I can London or Regency England in general, which meant that I was constantly intrigued by the way social interactions were structured and how they resembled (or didn't) social codes of the 19th-early 20th centuries.
TL;DR: The Beautiful Ones is a lovely romance set in a fantastical world which blends Gilded Age vibes with telekinesis. Moreno-Garcia masterfully weaves a narrative that feels both familiar and fresh at the same time, and with three main characters that all feel varied and complex, this story is sure to delight romance readers and historical fantasy lovers alike.
Telekinesis was also an interesting addition, and I appreciated the way Moreno-Garcia used it to showcase the growing bond between Nina and Hector (as well as act as a metaphor for Nina's character development). Telekinesis is treated as an unusual but normal part of the world, and I was grateful that we didn't get pages and pages of explanations regarding how it worked, why, and what political or social impacts it may be subject to. Instead, we're told just what we need to know, and I think Moreno-Garcia did a good job making sure the fantastical elements didn't overshadow the story.
My only criticisms are mild and primarily have to do with the end. Personally, I think the ending (with Luc - though no spoilers) was resolved a little too easily, and even before all that business, I found it a bit frustrating that Nina would take Valerie's word (regarding Hector's motivations) given the enmity between the two. But these points are minor and perhaps more personal preference than anything Moreno-Garcia did poorly.
Characters: Nina, our protagonist, has an interesting arc in that she goes from being somewhat overenthusiastic and naive to someone who is more in control of herself. I liked that she was written as something of a free spirit who was unimpressed by the rules of polite society, and her interest in beetles was charming.
Hector, another protagonist, was also compelling due to his genuine affection for Nina, despite some serious faults. Without giving anything away, I will say that he does something that betrays Nina's trust, and even though that thing could be a deal breaker for a lot of relationships, Moreno-Garcia writes Hector with so much nuance that I wanted to see him earn another chance. I also appreciated his introspection regarding his fear to open himself up to love, and I loved the way he reacted to Nina's curiosity and wonder.
Valerie is the antagonist of this book, always jabbing at Nina and Hector with unfair and selfish barbs that drove me up the wall (in the best way possible). While I can understand if some readers are irritated by her, I personally found Valerie to be compelling in part because a lot of her jealousy and misery was understandable. Valerie is resentful of the fact that she was pushed into a marriage of convenience, and instead of making the best of it, she allows her resentment to consume her. This nuance made Valerie feel more human than your typical meanie pants romance antagonist, and Moreno-Garcia does a good job alternating between evoking pity and making me want to scream.
Supporting characters are fine and do their jobs. A lot of them feel appropriately complex and support the story well without distracting from the main plot. I particularly felt a lot of pity for Valerie's husband because of what she thinks of him, and I found Luc to be appropriately frustrating without being outright evil.

Me when I wanted to write a story about a female plague doctor who was secretly a witch and her bog witch cottagecore wife so I researched the fuck out of the bubonic plague and I still have that whole page of notes somewhere
Oh also my hyperfixation on animal courtship and mating and all of the fun facts I've learned from that (sidenote, should I make an infodump post about animal courtship and mating practices? I have a lot to say about octopi and hyenas)
Oh oh also also mushrooms. I've forgotten most of what I learned about obscure species but I have a foraging guide I used to take everywhere before my bag got too heavy and I would identify everything. I have a bunch of fun facts about popular species still in my brain
Being super invested in a character can be interesting because I researched what infants wore back in the late 1800's early 1900's just to see what kind of baby clothes Alastor would've worn back in his time, apparently he'd have been in an long white dress
Hahahah being invested in fictional characters has made learning fun for me again. I found out Alastor lived in New Orleans and I've learned so much about the place since.
I literally once bought an in-depth New York City almanac just for my Spider-Man fics so I knew where tf he was swinging to, how long it would take to get there, and what kind of buildings, shops, and people would be in the area.
Hyperfixation, man. It's powerful.
