Favorites ‘22
It seems I produce this entry a little later each year. I'm perfectly fine with my reason this year. Or reasons to be exact—The Overstory by Richard Powers and A Swim in a Pond in the Rain by George Saunders. I finished reading Saunders exhilarated and ready to start this writing. But after I organized my thinking, I made the happy mistake of picking up Powers. I could barely bring myself to put it down, until I finished on New Year’s Eve. Now a little more daunted than exhilarated, I plan to keep the musings here brief and get to my favorites.
The small bit of thinking that I did organize centered around taking the baton handoff from last year’s final entry on the list, Dijon's Absolutely and recognizing how much the genre fluid approach to that magnificent record influenced my tastes in 2022. At times evoking D’Angelo and then later Thin Lizzy, the record was, according to Apple Music Replay, the record I listened to the second most last year. The top honor went to a record that arrived at the top of 2022, very shortly after Absolutely, Orlando Weeks' Hop Up. While not the genre fluid effort that many on the forthcoming list are, Hop Up does give me some of the best Peter Gabriel vibes I've felt in a while.
Three albums that threatened the top spot on my most-listened to list, and ones that do draw on and build from a wide swath of genres are the mesmerizing newest releases from Guitarricadelafuente, Sudan Archives and SZA.
And three that I found to be completely original, fresh takes were Aldous Harding's Warm Chris, the debut ep from Ogi, Monologue and 19 Masters by Saya Gray.
A few artists, old favorites if you will, also warmed long periods of my listening last year. I Walked with You a Ways by Plains feels like it’s packed with future standards. Reggae Film Star by Damien Jurado scratches the moody vibe like he always has, but this effort includes surprising and occasionally deconstructed song structures. Likewise, longtime favorite Marlon Williams returned, less a crooner and more of a retro pop star. Many critics didn't appreciate My Boy like I did. I think it suits him well.
So I've made no formal resolutions for 2023, but maybe unofficially, I’d like to keep the new voracious reading pace without sacrificing the writing output. The realist in me is not so sure I can do it. But isn't this what the unstained optimism of the first weeks of a new year are supposed to afford us?
LISTEN to the complete list.

JUNE DOOM POEMS
The end was atop HART
WHERE I FOUND MYSELF
Forever returning to embrace the question
Mark I embarked upon in opening my eyes
Today
The light is always brighter now and I feel like an out side ghost at times who floats past so quiet that it’s passes all planes and maintains the next breathe of vowels
The roll out of my head into the street
I empathize with the compressed rodents
I almost trip over and remember to keep my eyes open more to always perceive what is in store. The mighty glacial WHAT IF?! I gift back to universe is the quiet way I told me to stop allowing the avalanche to consume all my thoughts and d words.
I know I can reach in at anytime and Devine the dilution most useful but can only pick out this tool or choice when I control the TINY SCARED little voice. That bellows louder than reason and means words that dislike choices and seek to belittle the next as the rest are half steps of full measure consequence.
So back to the top of the END as I begin again and chant A E I O U until I too can feel the GOOG OOZE out and allow my inner voice to be heard and seen surprise even me. The Susie def animated state I continue to embrace commands constant devotion and faith.
The path into the next step cannot be anchored in fear of definitions or confectionery conjectures of tacit elation morning stars like street cars desire simple ways and plays to push into tomorrow as we beg steal or burrow the courage required.
In the great houses of old the EMPEROR sat atop lofty ambitions and executed many convincing plays. But alas and avast we past the ruins and tomb all gone quiet like TERRACOTTA ARMIES sleep in the earth.
Revolutions around the sun spitting atoms of positive light live and energy. Be it animate or stairs, be it celestial or the magma core aglow. We know we walk into the profound mystery of all the words we are yet to write and live… 314 6:47am BED HOD LO NRG 6.18 6.18.24.00000003 OGI
The chemical romance less ORDINARY
ode to random lady in noir)
PURSED NOIR PILLOWS
Atop stark hues that pounce
Eagerly to dark spaces
Glinting into to the fluorescent
Light bulbs pulsing iridescence
And brackish tongue lashings
Extended like a serpent
From out of the tall blades
Of grass as a naked ankle
Nary past in electric motion
Beckoning the strike like
Swollen tonsils crave the ice cream
As promised but only get apple sauce
9:57am L TO MANHATTAN 6.18.23.00003 OGI NYC
My shadow and the right shoe
My shadow and the right show
Standing on AVENUE A
Like strangers stuck in a lift or lifeboat
Left to hang or float
Or cast a longer shadow
Standing still and killing time
As the old fella huffs and puffs and
Sniffs at the whole crosswalk line
The bus rolls past and vents
A burst of DINO-CARBON BELCH
As the light changes and my right foot becomes the shadow crossing
The shoe left alone
To bake and await the steel
Bristles of the street sweeper
Pounding the concrete clean and right
12:14pm L to BROOKLYN 6.18.23.00003. OGI NYC

She sidn't want to say the one thing that involved Dylan in front of him. Because it was towards Murdoch not him, and she didn't want Dylan to think she wanted him to fuck her foster brother it was just an example of things Murodch was willing to do. She huffed, stamped her foot and turned towards Murdoch, "I said during my freak out that you would take both Ogi and Jacqueline while Dylan fucked you in the ass." And because of her panic and sarcasm beginning to mix, she did a sort of mock courtesy when her sentence was done.
Murdoch had a knife and was peeling the apple, while feeding bits of it to his shadow snake. He squinted for a minute, looked Dylan up and down, closed his eyes and looked to the ceiling, as if he was imaging something. Gave a chuckle and said, "heh, yeah." Abddon slapped his arm, and Murdoch muttered, "I'm not going to. That's just defiantly something I would do."
Grim turned back towards Dylan. She wasn't wrong, but it still shouldn't have been said in the end. She kept her eyes trained on him. They were pleading. She needed to keep at least one of these relationships alive. Her body was tense. She was holding herself, shaking a little. Now, she was whispering a tad, "I don't even care about the candy... I just liked having you around. You were sweet to me. Even when I wasn't to you... or Jacqueline and Ogi." She bit her lip, granted she had wanted him in other ways, but that didn't matter. Not anymore. "I need to keep your friendship." Her throat was starting to get scratchy now.
Changing times
@the-universal-fates
There wasn't a whole lot to do in their little village of Greyhawk. There weren't many people to begin with, and there was a lot of bored teenagers and young adults around that were simply biding their time. Trying to raise themselves enough money to move to the capital of Sunray Province, or even into the great city state of Acidrial if they were ambitious. Yet because of the young people's boredom, more and more shady folks kept showing up, peddling what defiantly were illegal substances, trying to get the young hook on some new drugs that were developed. It was phenomenon that had sprung up recently. Black market dealers going to dmall towns to make a quick buck.
Due to concerned parents, it became bad for the legitimate businesses in the area. Grim pulled up on a little pickup truck, Murdoch, in the passenger seat. The two would get out, unload their vegetables and meat to a stand. Murdoch would sit back, while Grim tried to attract customers. She would go up to one lady with a toddler, asking, "wanna buy a carrot?" She would try to continue the conversation, only to be avoided and the conversation would end with Grimalda, angerly waving a carrot around, yelling at the woman and toddler, "I'm not trying to sell you drugs!"

PART ONE.
*tana mongeau vc* welcome to my Trash Bin son or welcome back to my Trash Bin son … hi cuties, my names mia & im such youtube Trash if im honest. i’m so? excited to be here and get to roleplay with all of you. short disclaimer, i’m a mess, banks is a mess, and this post is well...a big mess. welcome to narina!! lets plot!?
chara inspo: hardin scott, harry villers, kenickie murdoch, steve harrington, dean winchester, chad (scream queens)
PART TWO.
born nolan matthew harrington although absolutely no one has called him nolan since he was like four. he goes by banks both by his family & friends. most people probably think that’s his name on his birth certificate.
he grew up in newport, rhode island. the middle child of lawrence & sheridan harrington. his father is a pretty big time record producer while his mother is the owner of a fine dining surf & turf restaurant.
his mom is very big into politics as she has a law degree and in 2014 she offered up their home in newport for one of obama’s many fundraisers. yes, the harrington’s are democrats although banks considers himself an “independent” and wrote in leonardo dicaprios name in the 2016 election because he refused to back either candidate.
he’s always had a love for moving picture. he’s the type that believes the lens is the window to the soul not the eyes.
he’s the guy who has never known rejection. because of this he comes off a bit entitled and arrogant which i mean, he is.
he’s never been the best in academics, like he wasn’t so bad that his parents had to pay his way through grades but he’s skated by his whole academic career with c’s and low b’s. when he had to do general study courses at bellecotte he had a tutor for ever class but writing heavy courses. he sucks at tests and anything that has an equation involved in it.
his memory has never been good and has only become progressively worse because of his weed habit. although he smokes weed like he’s a chimney he hasn’t drank alcohol since highschool.
he’s the friend that’ll take you into doing a keg stand but will be perched up on a table checking people out himself. he’s a great hypeman but a terrible wingman, he’ll end up taking home any & every girl in the vicinity and leave you with your empty glass.
death tw | the reason he doesn’t drink is because during his senior year of highschool he held a house party and got belligerently drunk. his bedroom was always off limits during parties and one night he went back to his room just for a moment and found a couple hooking up on his bed, turns out it was a kid he didn’t like, the girl ended up running out from embarrassment of being caught. the two boys ended up fist fighting, the fight ended with banks punching and then pushing the other guy away, basically over the fight, when the guy tumbled back and slammed his head into the corner of banks bed. banks went into his bathroom to clean up and when he came back out he noticed the kid was bleeding all over the floor and unconscious. he locked his bedroom door, called his parents, and they took care of everything when the came back home hours later. banks himself doesn’t even know what his parents did, all he knows is two days after the incident police found the kids body in the woods across town. end of tw
thanks to his dad he’s been able to direct a good amount of music videos from the new a whole new world music video with zayn malik to easier with 5sos. despite his minor successes he still heavily does student films so expect him to ask you to feature in a short film at least twice a year.
as you could’ve probably guessed he’s a cinematography major (s/o apollo house) and minoring in screen writing. he’s wanted to be the next quentin tarantino or christopher nolan since he was like 10.
our lovely boy here does not believe in love and he dares anyone to try and change his mind
he drives a red 1969 chevy impala convertible that he received from his grandfather when he passed, the car is in pristine condition.
he can be a little intimidating at times ? he’s social and definitely considered “popular” on campus but he’s very laid back and rarely shares how he’s feeling.
fun fact? he vapes and can do some crazy vape tricks & carries around a gold-plated vape at all times.
PART THREE.
you can find a page for his socials i did here as well as his (half done) most wanted connections here !!

So Thankful
For my dear friend Ay: I don’t think I followed the prompt all that well and I definitely had ideas that didn’t make it into it because I knew what I wanted to write, but then I forgot them... so this is what we’re working with. I hope you enjoy dear friend!
Thanksgiving was always chaotic in the house of the queens. The first year that they were back was quite confusing to all of them.
“Hey Lina?” Jane beckoned the first queen over to where she was standing at the calendar.
“What’s up Jane?”
“Do you know what Thanksgiving is?” She pointed at the word written across that day.
“Oh! I do!” Anne bounced in from the living room. “So, it started when America became colonized in the 1600s by Britain. The pilgrims had a feast. Well, a while later, Lincoln, America’s 16th president, declared it a day. In 1789, the congress passed it as a national holiday that is celebrated every November on the fourth Thursday. It’s a day where families get together and eat. They typically go around the table before their meals and ask what everyone is thankful for. To me, it’s kind of silly that that’s what the holiday has come down to considering the rich history of it, but-”
“We’re celebrating it. We all have so much to be thankful for, and we need to recognize it.”
“Cool. I’ll tell the others.” Anne ran upstairs, her small footsteps sounding like a herd of elephants as she called for the others.
“Wait! Anne!” Jane called. “What are we supposed to eat?”
“Turkey! Stuffing! Cornbread! Corn! Vegetables! Mashed potatoes! Mac n Cheese! But not the boxed kind- homemade. You know, that kind of stuff. And dessert! Pies! Pumpkin pie, apple pie, pecan pie! All the dessert!”
Catherine glanced at Jane in confusion.
“I guess when she says she reads, she’s really not lying,” Jane offered with a shrug of her shoulders.
-
And so, here the queens were, a few years later. Not only had they kept up on their tradition of having a Thanksgiving feast, but this year, they had new additions to the meal.
“So, if you’d like, you’re more than welcome to come over for Thanksgiving. I know Becky, Dawn and Ogie are in town too, and they’re more than welcome to join! The more the merrier!” Jane smiled into the phone.
“Oh girl, that’d be great. I’ll bring the pies for dessert. What time do you guys normally start eating?”
“We try to have everything set on the table by 3, but you know how that can be. So, it’s usually all done around 5. But you guys are more than welcome to come over at any time that day!”
“Great! And Lu is always more than welcome to come hang out while we do all this stuff if you want her out of your hair.”
“I’m sure she’ll be delighted to hear that,” Jenna couldn’t help but stifle a laugh.
-
Thanksgiving day had come, and the queens house was nothing if not chaotic.
“Anne Boleyn, out of my kitchen!” Jane had screeched for the thousandth time that day. All she was trying to do at this point was make the stuffing with her youngest cousin.
“Janey, I’m just trying to-”
“I know you’re trying to help, and I really appreciate it, but you can’t keep opening and closing the oven door or the turkey is never going to be done! Why don’t you go help Anna?” Anne nodded and bounced down to the basement where they had set up a make-shift kitchen for the fourth queen.
“Hey Jane?” Kat said slowly.
“What?” the blonde hissed, a bit more bark in her voice than she would have liked.
“I cut myself.” The pink haired queen displayed her finger.
“Go clean yourself up. I’m pretty sure Aragon is done with the vegetables for now, so I’ll see if she can help with the stuffing.” Jane put her head in her hands. Of course this would happen. It wasn’t a holiday if Kat didn’t accidentally cut her finger trying to slice bread.
The fifth queen nodded and walked upstairs, only to have her body in the kitchen replaced with the golden queen’s.
“How ever did I expect this to happen?” Catherine grinned, rubbing a hand on Jane’s shoulder on her way to Kat’s station. She grabbed a new knife and continued on with the bread cutting. “Relax Jane. It’s all going to be okay. And think of it this way: Jenna’s in charge of dessert this year, so that’s one less thing you have to worry about.”
“You’re right, but with the-” Jane counted in her head. “-six extra mouths to feed, we have to really up our game and make double what we usually make. And Jenna’s pregnant.”
“Hey, you know Dawn and Lu eat like birds. Together, they make up one of our mouths.” The doorbell rang. “Speaking of, there’s Lu now.” The two motherly queens walked to the door, and peaked their heads out.
“What’s the password?” Jane allowed herself to be silly for a moment.
“Aunt Janey! And Lina!” Lulu bounced from her spot on her mother’s hip. She squirmed to be let down, eliciting a giggle from the two women in the house.
“She’s been up and begging to come over since five this morning.”
“I was up anyway. Tried to start on the turkey before Hurricane Anne was awake, but she came bouncing down five minutes later. We would’ve let her come.”
“See Mama? I told you Aunt Janey would’ve been up!”
“Come on in little Lu! We’ve got your apron all ready for you, and I’m sure Annie will be so excited to hear that you’re finally here! She’s been asking about you all morning.” What Jane had said wasn’t far from the truth. Questions about when their little friend would join them began at approximately eight in the morning.
“Be good for your girls!” the baker called out to her daughter who was already bouncing down the queens’ steps to the basement.
“She always is. How are the pies coming along?” Catherine made conversation with the woman.
“Dawn, Becky, and I made 'em up last night. Told the boys they were in charge of putting them in the oven, so they should be almost done!”
“Great. Did you want to come in and have a glass of wine or something?”
“I’d love to, but I promised the idiots at home I’d only be a few minutes. And, I don't entirely trust Ogie and Jim not to burn down my kitchen. I know Becky and Dawn-” Jenna laughed as she remembered the time Becky almost set their diner on fire. “-well, Dawn, could handle it, but not without having a full blown panic attack.”
“I’ve got you. Sounds like you have a couple hurricanes at your house right now.”
“That I do. But now, you’ve got... all of your hurricanes and my little hurricane.”
“She’s never a problem Jenna. I promise you, we all love having her around.”
“If she gets to be too much, let me know and I’ll swing by and grab her until dinner.”
“Appreciate it, but you won’t need to. See you at four?”
“See you at four,” the baker affirmed.
-
“Lulu Pomatter!” the blonde called to the basement, already a bit tense after the antics that morning.
“What Aunt Janey? I’m trying to help Anna decide how much cheese to put on the mac n’ cheese! And the potatoes!”
“Hun, you just need your apron.”
“Oh!” Lulu ran up the steps and allowed Jane to help her into the clothing.
“Your mama wouldn't be too happy if I returned you with food all over you knowing you have a perfectly good apron here, now would she?” the third queen muttered as she tied the piece of cloth around the little girl.
“Thank you!” the girl with pigtails squeezed her surrogate aunt and pressed a sloppy kiss to her cheek before running back downstairs to help Anna and-
“Annie! Stop eating the macaroni!”
“Oh good god,” Jane muttered to herself as she and the first queen continued to cut bread.
-
“Is the turkey almost done?” Anne made her way up the steps with Lulu on her hip.
“No, it’s not. And if you don't want Jane yelling at you again, I suggest you get yourself out of the kitchen,” Aragon responded, not looking up from the book she was reading.
“But I just want to see if-” the green queen cracked the oven door open slightly.
“Anne Boleyn! Close that oven door right now!” Jane’s voice could be heard from the bathroom.
“How did she know?” Lulu whispered, confused. The silver queen wasn’t in the kitchen.
“I swear, she’s got a sixth sense. Maybe she should’ve gone down in history as a witch, not me.” Aragon let out a snort- she wasn’t expecting that to come out of her successor’s mouth.
-
“Aunt Janey?” Lulu watched as the third queen flitted around the kitchen, setting out various dishes on the table.
“What’s up love?” Jane slowed down just a bit to get a look at the sweet girl in front of her. Her heart pained a little, feeling the absence of her son who she so dearly wished was celebrating this holiday with them.
“Could I help set the table?”
“Of course honey! You know where all of the silverware is.” Jane nodded in the direction of the drawer anyway.
-
“Aunt Janey?”
“Yes dear?” Jane didn't turn around from the gravy she was whisking, but she made sure to let the girl know she was listening.
“Where’s Cathy?”
“Oh, I think she’s up in her room writing some. Do you want to go see her?”
“Can I?”
“I’m sure she would love the company. And maybe, you can pry her away from her work for a little bit.”
“Do you think she might want to read my book with me? I got it at the library! It’s about Thanksgiving!”
“Why don’t we go ask her?” Jane motioned for the girl to follow her up the steps and knocked on the writer’s door.
“Yeah?” Cathy called.
“You’ve got a little munchkin wanting to visit. Think you could tear yourself away from that screen for a-”
“Cath! It’s me! It’s Lulu! Can I come in?”
The door swung open almost instantly. “If I had known you were here, I would’ve come down!” The little girl made grabbing hands towards the queen dressed in blue.
-
“Hey Lu? Cath?” Jane was standing at the door she had been in front of an hour before. “Dinner’s almost ready. Do you guys want to-”
“Aunt Janey! Look!” The door whizzed open, revealing Lulu, Cathy, Anne, Anna, and Kat all in paper hats covered in glitter, no doubt supplied by the fifth queen.
“We made you, Lina, Mama, Daddy, Dawn, Becky, and Ogie hats too! And Cathy wrote a play for us to all put on after dinner!”
-
“Hi!” Lulu opened the door for her family, sparkling hat on top of her head.
“Hey guys,” Jane nodded as she opened the door wider for the group to come in, a paper hat with silver sparkles covering much of her blonde hair.
“Holy moly!” Anne came sprinting over, seeing the three pies that Jenna was balancing along with the two pies in Jim’s hand and one that Dawn was holding. “How many pies did you make?”
“A shit ton,” Becky laughed.
“So you’re Becky?” Anne grinned, knowing that the bold woman was indeed Becky. The queens had heard enough stories to know which woman was which.
“You’re damn right I’m Becky. And Dawn here, she’s the quietest of us all. Get a couple drinks in ‘er though and-”
“Becky!” Dawn gasped.
“Alright girls, that’s enough for now,” Jenna ordered in her “mom tone”, as the two waitresses liked to call it.
“Lu, are you forgetting to give them their hats?” Catalina, the woman with such regality, had a paper hat decorated with gold sparkles.
“Oh yeah! So, while Aunt Janey and Lina were finishing up with dinner, me and the rest of my girls-”
“The girls and me,” Jim corrected gently.
“-Gosh Daddy. The rest of my girls and me,” she moaned unceremoniously. “Made hats for everyone! Like the pilgrims! And Kat had sparkles and glitter, so we decorated them! Annie told me they all had colors assigned to them for the show they were in, so they kept their colors! Lina is gold, Annie is green, Aunt Janey is silver, Anna is red, Kat is pink of course, and Cathy is dark blue! I made you three-” she handed the women their hats. “-light blue because of the uniforms at my diner. Daddy is black glitter, and Ogie too.” She handed the men their hats.
-
“Alright guys, what are we all thankful for?” Jane looked at the group expectantly.
“Isn’t it right that you start Janey?” Anne looked at her.
“I guess. Okay, well I’m thankful for the roof over our heads, and the food that is about to
be in my stomach. I’m thankful that Anne hasn’t burned the house down yet. And, I’m thankful for all of you. You're the best family that I’ve got. Thank you for helping get this dinner together, and for overall just always being there for me when I need it. Okay, who’s next?”
-
“Good god, I’m so full,” Anne remarked as she unbuttoned her pants.
“Must you do that every year?” Catherine didn’t even try to stop herself from rolling her eyes.
“I hope you’re not too full, because I brought six pies.”
“Which ones?” Anne’s eyes lit up.
-
“Good god, I’m so full,” Anne yawned. “I don't know how you do it Jenna, but all of those pies were amazing.” The second queen had, in fact, helped herself to a slice of each and every pie the baker had brought.
-
Jane and Jenna had the littlest girl laying across their laps. Jim was happy to sit on the couch arm, an arm wrapped around his wife. Anne was curled into Jane’s other side, happy to be small enough to fit on the couch next to Katherine. Aragon was sitting in her recliner, Cathy perched on one couch arm, and Anna was more than happy to lay on the floor, blanket draped over her. Ogie and Dawn found their positions sitting in front of the couch, Becky above them. The hats had been carefully laid down on the kitchen table to be put away for next year.
They had cleaned up and were now watching a movie the little girl requested, but as she fell asleep, the adults began to chat and reminisce.
“I can’t believe we’re lucky enough to spend this holiday all together,” Jenna smiled. “For a long time, Thanksgiving was just Becky, Dawn, and me. But this- this is really great.”
“It’s only gotten better because you decided to join in on the chaos this year.” Jane nudged the baker. “Thank you again for the pies by the way. I’m sure they’ll be gone before the weekend because of someone.” She cast a knowing glance at the green queen curled up into her side.
“So, here’s a weird question for you,” Dawn giggle, a few glasses of wine in. “What’s the best thing that you didn’t have in the 1500s?”
“Comfortable chairs,” Catalina smiled. How she hated sitting in that uncomfortable throne for the twenty-four years she was queen.
“Shoes with wheels in them,” Anne laughed, knowing the third queen would groan.
“Comfortable clothing. I hated those stupid ass corsets we had to wear. I couldn’t work out in them!” Cleves threw in.
“Phones. I love having all of the music in the world in my hand,” Kat added without looking up from her phone.
“Computers. It was so hard physically writing everything down then. Now, if I make a mistake, I can just press the backspace.”
“Jane? You’re awful quiet.” The room’s attention turned towards the blonde, who looked up with tears in her eyes.
“The best thing that I didn’t have in the 1500s was you guys. I’m so thankful for each and every one of you.”

Felt bad so Ogie gets an candy apple at the end :D
More headcanons and predictions:
Ogerpon's mask serves as an conduit of its power, fueled by its emotions. Based on the intensity, this can grant the mask the ability to "take over". (This is my question: is the mask a separate item that transforms Ogerpon the way it is now, or it's not?).
Ogerpon is misunderstood, but it is also not completely innocent - its mask caused it to go berserk due to its jealousy and desire to connect with the villagers, which unfortunately led to its banishment by the Loyal Three. Because of that, it became reclusive and tries to repress its emotions as a way of "atonement".
From time to time, it can't help but wander by and curiously gaze at the village (which we might see it in game given the trailer). However, because of the way it was treated, it still feels a sting of bitterness especially at the Loyal Three, which the terastal form we see is a manifestation of its anger - the mask embodies the "oni" that it never wanted to become. I also like to imagine Kieran plays a role (he shows jealousy too) and thus somehow lures Ogerpon (he has an Dripplin, so maybe it mistook it as an candy apple lol).
(holy smokes i never usually go in depth with predictions and stuff before)
EDIT: Forgot to say this but thanks for taking the time to read this!
I am so excited for dlc and can't help but keep pumping out dlc-related stuff. My brain just went auto-pilot zone and produced this as a result (except the tera form terapagos was done a while ago). Her true form is shown in the first slide, it's like the girl from the unown movie where she transforms and stuff but minus the unown power - can change forms at will. :)
Other headcanons:
Ogerpon likes apples (it also wants to try candy apple but never gets the chance because, you know, the history with the village). If you steal an apple from it, you are in for a nasty surprise. Besides that, it usually has a quiet, seclusive disposition.
It dwells mostly in shady areas surrounded by greenery in the mountains. It also likes to be up in the trees.
Okidogie is the "leader" of the three. He's often a big grumpie but has a big heart. Gives nice hugs and head pats.
Fezandipiti uses fans not just for looks and cooling, but also as weapons.
Munkidori is a jokester. Despite his chill and silly demeanor, he is highly perceptive and calculating - don't underestimate his size either.

travel log 5, west end, waitress, feb 19 //
Oh boy, oh boy. In case you didn’t know, I love musicals. As an ex-ballerina and a writer, I have a thing with music that tells me a story. My approach is more on the modern side but I am still learning. I am not, by any means, expert. I can’t even sing but I enjoy them. So, even before I got accepted into the university, I was checking what musicals could I see them finally live.
When I realized I was going to spent my birthday far, far away from my family and my friends, I saw to myself: ‘I have to go and watch a musical’. My gift to myself. Then was the question of which one. But pieces fell on their places: Waitress. Is a funny, cute and lovely musical. It wasn’t as expensive as others. And it has one of my favourite song of all times: She used to be mine. It got better, Jenna was going to be played by Sara Bareilles. This meant, I was going to see live a song that had made my cry in my room for hours, with the singer that I discovered it. I wasn’t emotionally prepared, at all.
My next post would be all about what I did in London for my birthday, this is just about the play. But just to let you know I was tired but so happy. I got to the Adelphi theatre early, got my tickets and waited. I bought an apple pie as a souvenir and it was delicious!! My seat was not the best but either the worst.
The play was … wow. I had seen theatre before but not since I started actively listening to it. When I was in New York, I saw Wicked, Lion King and the Phantom of the Opera. This time, I had been listening to the cast recording for a solid year. She used to be mine I found it years ago. It was because of that song that I gave a chance to the musical. I loved it more than I thought I would! I was funny as hell. Characters like Joe and Ogie surprised me a lot. As well as the relationship between Dr. Pomatter and Jenna. I loved every single second of the friendship between Dawn, Becky and her. I am not going to spoil anything about the plot but it changes quickly from light hearted drama to mature content and serious but so fun!
Now, She used to be mine. I cried so much more than I thought. I was sitting straight on my seat, watching Sara gave her all while tearing would run down my face. This song has been with me for years, for different stages and I am positive, it is going to continue with me for a while. Seeing this, live and with here… was another experience. Tears would leave trails of mascara in my checks while a happiness, sadness and nostalgia wrapped me. It was all worth it to get to this moment. // athena, adelphi theatre.

So last week I saw Waitress on tour! (Yes, they are using the Betsy Wolfe Playbill.)
I just want to say, Desi Oakley is perfection in this role. After seeing Jessie Mueller, I had lots of doubts about different Jennas, but Desi is an angel. And you can tell in the interviews that she just adores this role. She was great!
If anyone’s interested in the pie flavors, they were apple pie and salted chocolate caramel. ;)
God, I love “What’s Inside.” There is such a strong back beat in that song I never realized. Like, wow, and the lyrics..(get ready for me to praise Sara Bareilles ten million times.)
“Opening Up” is so fun and energetic. Love.
“The Negative.” LOVE IT. I really love the conversation happening between Jenna, Dawn, and Becky. It really shows their friendship and their characters.
When Earl comes to the diner, and asks Jenna for her money, Jenna gives Earl the money, and looks over at Joe, shielding her body so he won’t see. I thought that was interesting.
WOW WOW WOW WOW “WHAT BAKING CAN DO”. I know “She Used to be Mine” is like the hit of the show and don’t get me wrong it is an amazing song, but WBCD gets so overlooked. It is amazing and Desi sings it, well, amazingly. The way she sings, “I’ll show them all how goddamn happy I am!” “Am’ is the key word here. She does it so different from Jessie and I love it!!! Here’s a video of her singing it; the part I’m talking about happens around 2:55. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbLvs94SeSo). And just such a powerful song, especially with Jenna’s mom and dad fighting in the back.
I love “Pomatter Pie” and if you haven’t had the Mermaid Marshmallow pie, you must make it. It’s “biblically good.”
“When He Sees Me” is an adorable, relatable song and I love it. But what is it with Sara Bareilles and doors? Let’s examine:
“I’ll bake me a door to help me get through” and “Every door we ever made, we never once walked out” are lyrics in “What Baking Can Do” and the lyrics in “When He Sees Me” are: “What if he opens up a door and I can’t close it?” I’m just saying... I love it though.
When Dawn is going on her fist date with Ogie, Jenna and Becky give her a “makeover” and Jenna bakes her a pie. Dawn says, “Jenna, you are the queen of goodness and kindness.” That made me feel emotions.
“It Only Takes a Taste” or AKA “What is DR.POMATTER’S BACKSTORY???”
Ugh, “You Will Still Be Mine.” I get it, Earl’s the bad guy, but every actor that plays him is just so good. I loved Nick Cordero and I thought Nick Bailey was great as well. Also, the minute Earl made his entrance, the crowd was dead silent. I remember on Broadway, when Earl found the money Jenna was hiding, the crowd was like shook. Just dead silent. And I mean, I think it’s amazing when an actor can demand that reaction through his/her character.
“A Soft Place to Land.” Um, yeah, magical song. AND JUST BEAUTIFUL LYRICS. “Dreams are elusive, the kind we’ve gotten used to.”
“Bad Idea” was sooo good. Yet again, those lyrics. “It’s the only thing I’ve ever done, what if I never see myself ever be anything more than what I’ve already become?”
ACT 2
CHARITY ANGEL DAWSON. VOCALS. I am so happy for her. I saw her as Nurse Norma in New York and am so happy she is now playing Becky! But anyway, she killed “I Didn’t Plan It.”
In one scene, Jenna goes to see Dr. Pomatter and Nurse Norma tells her that he went to a funeral back home with his wife. Jenna brought a pie, and Nurse Norma goes, “What’s the pie called?’’ and Jenna said in the saddest voice, “The pursuit of happiness pie.” I think my hear cracked a little. Like, she just thought she was finally gonna be genuinely happy with Dr. Pomatter and then to find out he’s with his wife over seeing you at your doctor’s appointment. Gut wrenching.
Before, “You Matter to Me” Jenna asks Dr.Pomatter if he’s happy and he says, “I’m not used to happy, but you, you make me feel at peace, calm.” God, I loved that. Okay, “YOU MATTER TO ME.” DO I EVEN CONTINUE? Okay, I’ll say it again, the lyric, “I could find the whole meaning of life in those sad eyes” should win all the Grammys and Tonys in the world! I mean, it’s just such a special song and moment. Ugh!!!
“Dear Baby” so sad, so emotional. Goddamn.
“She Used to be Mine” shivers on my face, emotions all over. You know how it goes.
“Contraction Ballet” and Lulu’s Birth was so well done. Jenna stands on the bed and her mom comes and blows the flour and everything is just going fast. It’s so cool. Shout out to Diane Paulus!
Before Lulu’s birth, Jenna has a conversation with Cal (he was so funny, by the way!) about happiness. And Cal says he’s “happy enough.” And when Jenna has Lulu, she says “We’re not gonna be happy enough, little girl, we’re gonna be really happy.” It kind of made me cry.
And then the last pie, Jenna gives Dr. P is Thanks for Taking Me to the Moon pie, and he says in the saddest voice ever “Another lifetime...” God, it was really sad.
Also there was a few boos for Earl at curtain call, so just a reminder not to boo actors. :)
Anyway, this show is so amazing, and is really important in these times. Try to see it either on tour or in NYC!
Sugar, butter, flour.

Apple-ogies || Evelyn & Laney
@fashionistaextraordinaire
After getting some help around Leuda from a nice townsperson, she wasn’t about to let this trip go to waste. Laney had a mission for coming here. In her hands, she held a basket full of apples, baked goods (made by herself of course), and a few salty treats just in case this person wasn’t a fan of sweets.
There she stood outside the door of a stranger, no less. She wasn’t even certain this was the right address. She hoped to gods it was. How awkward that would be! She sighed, holding the basket by the handle and rehearsing over and over what she might say when this person opens the door. Hi, you may not remember but I was rude to you at the masquerade ball. No, that was no good. Always introduce and state the purpose.
Her heart drumming rapidly in her chest as she shifted her stance for the thousandth time. Her hand curled into a fist ready to rap upon the door. Laney held her hand in front of the door, retracted for a mere second, then her knuckles tapped lightly on it. She took another deep, shaky breath. You got this.
When the door opened, all thoughts she had previously planned out had vanished. Laney stood there dumbfounded and at a loss for words. She was sure that she looked silly just standing there frozen in her tracks. Oh, goddess, just say something.
“Hel-Hello!” She stopped herself for the sake of regaining composure. “My name’s Laney and this is for you. This is for...” Oh no, here come the waterworks.

oooOooo hOW WAS WAITRESS??
SOOOO GOOD SERIOUSLY S O G O O D (waitress spoilers ahead naturally) (this is also under a read more because I rambled like hell) (worth it)
this is what the curtain looked like:
they were also selling these tiny pies in little containers so at intermission my sister and I bought a mini apple pie and holy shit it was so delicious. it was SO delicious. what the fuck. pie is so good.
Betsy Wolfe, not to be a broken record, but god damn that woman is a powerhouse. She is a goddess. She can do anything. She brought the fucking house down. You Matter To Me brought me to tears when she said “I hope someone holds you for twenty minutes” etc etc....I was unprepared.
And her She Used To Be Mine was incredible, like, it was seriously....you could just feel all the emotions. I think there’s an audio of it on Tumblr? Yeah, here. But lemme tell you, it was a million times better live.
Ogie’s song was so funny and Earl was absolutely terrifying. I mean, he was an amazing actor, because wow, I was pissed and frightened and whenever he so much as looked the wrong way, Betsy would flinch and it was incredible to watch. Everyone clapped when she kicked him out at the end.
Joe was honestly one of my favorites. From the start you could tell he was one of those “grumpy old man with a heart of gold” people and I love that trope. And...I sobbed at Take It From an Old Man. I sobbed when he got her that card. I sobbed when it turned out he was the owner. And when he died. I was not ready to like him that much. I just wanna cry thinking about it.
Becky and Dawn were so charming!!! and Becky was so funny. Every time she spoke to Cal I laughed. The whole “okay, then fire me” thing was hilarious. Focus on the Negative was very funny. Also interjecting here to say Betsy’s What Baking Can Do was fantastic. Anyway, Dawn’s When He Sees Me was so cute and we all just wanted to hug her.
My uncle isn’t really a musical person, and he adored it and wouldn’t stop talking about it. So pretty much in short go see Waitress god please.
I stage-doored, too!! And fun fact: stagedooring is much less stressful and pushy than I expected!!! It was all very laid-back, the actors came out one or two at a time, it was pleasant as hell. I was also redeeming myself for not saying hi to Will Roland earlier on. Anyway, I met Dr. Pomatter (Chris Diamantopoulos), Joe (Dakin Matthews), the ensemble girl who, I believe, doubled as Jenna’s mom (though I’m not sure of her name and I can’t read it on my Playbill) (which is a Pride playbill by the way!!!!!), the little girl who played Lulu (Ella Dane, I have a cute story about her), Dawn (Caitlin Houlahan), and of course Jenna (Betsy Wolfe).
I said to Dakin that I cried at all of his scenes and I cried when he died, and he said, “I bet you say that to all the boys.”
My sister and I were arguing about this so we asked Caitlin if the ensemble members actually eat onstage (she thought they didn’t, I thought they did). The answer is “sometimes”, but apparently Joe gets to every time. Honestly, everyone was absolutely just so sweet.
I brought up ArtSpeak to Betsy and asked if she remembered it and she said of course she did (and then I felt stupid) and we got a picture with both her and Caitlin (separately) which I’ll probably post sometime once I get them?
anyway, the story about Ella is this: she was in the middle of signing my sister’s Playbill and I asked her, “So how old are you?”
“Five and a half,” she said, and then stopped, turned to her mom behind her, and said, “Mommy, what type of five am I?”
“You are five and two-thirds,” her mom said, and it was honestly just the cutest and funniest thing I have ever witnessed, oh my god.
Alright, I’ve talked for ten years, enough!!! Long story short, Waitress was a fucking experience, and you should all listen to it and go see it if you can. Thank you for asking! (Sorrynotsorry for rambling).
#waitress#betsy wolfe#caitlin houlahan#what goddesses#also joe was so sweet#and just....god#things that actually happened#stuff#this counts as stuff#i talked enough for this to count as stuff#mindsintertwined#ask#answered

Day 159: Thursday June 8, 2017 - “Last Foods”
This is it! One more day in country here in the Philippines, which means its one more to try those fantastic foods that I can only get here!
This morning I had a 1am date in the cafeteria with Ogie who had some awesome treats from him and his wife Ellen. They included a real good Balut, round 2 that Ogie prepped in a glass of hot water and instead of a vinegar, we had just salt. No messing around, he coached me to get after it, and I enjoyed it much better than the first time! Most people wouldnt ever do this once, and here I was doing it twice. Old Pro now! Ogie says that the Balut, special from his land of Pateros is the very best there is - the home of Balut. And indeed the quality seemed to be special. Went right down and chewed with no issue. Google confirms Ogie’s bias - Pateros makes the best Balut. The home of good ducks.
Then it was on to the salted egg - which could easily be confused with an easter egg since they dye it pink. But thats no Tootsie Roll! The yoke was brown and salty for sure. Again, Pateros does the Salted Egg expertly even showing up in the wiki! A great treat that I would not have tried on my own. Better with tomato, I even got another one to take home. We washed the eggs down with a gooey rice dessert Ogie called Inutak. We cleaned that plate up together. I wondered if you could make this at home, “sure” he says, “but it will never be as good as the real thing here” - Amen to that and to 1am lunch breaks with authentic Filipino treats.
After work, with the sun up, I took one last day excursion out in Alabang and stopped into Jollibee for lunch. There was a desert there I was itching to try - the Halo Halo....Filipino for “Mix Mix” - mix indeed. This ice cream included (from what all I could recognize) jello, syrups, apple pie filling, kidney beans, coconut meat, and more jello, and milk. What?! Beans!!? It made absolutely no god-damned sense....but I would easily eat 15 more. Jollibee was a helluva an experience. I took a pic of that crazy menu so that instead of trying to explain it to AC, I could just show her. A fast food place that serves crazy ice cream, and hot dogs, and spaghetti, and Chicken. If I ever happen across one back in the states, I’ll be doing a U-turn for the Halo Halo.
My stomach wasnt off the hook just yet - one last thing to try....Kwek Kwek. Silly that I was intimidated by this one - the color maybe had me thinking itd be very vinegary. But there was a vendor outside all night at work selling Quall Eggs for 3/10 Pesos. Shit! Equal parts annoyed and glad I didnt try this sooner. I wouldve used all my Pesos on these little guys! Very good. Kwek Kwek aced, my food to-do list was complete. I could now good home where Id crave some of these Filipino treats.... from the tasty on stick to kwek kwek to halo-halo. Ive never had a culinary experience like these three weeks. Horizons and stomach stretched.
