The Future || Evelyn & Soseki

Evelyn had grown so round, part of a globe could be mapped across her stomach. Soseki’s hand rested on it now, marveling over it as if he could see the path their lives would travel from this moment forth. Everything past between them and everything yet to come. Movement beneath his palm interrupted his charted course. 

“They’re kicking!” Of course, she would know, but he marveled over each action his children graced him with. Evelyn likely didn’t feel as graced to have her innards used as a punching bag. “That isn’t very nice,” he scolded, but it was weak and ineffectual to children not yet born. He wasn’t going to be very good at scolding.

Gifts for Family

When it came to family, Luke did his best to put a lot of thought into the gifts he got for them. At least, he hoped that it came across that way. Each gift that he dropped off to the receivers came with a little note.

Silenced Wishes || Sabrina & Evelyn

♛ - It was break time at the Mining Company, but Sabrina was hardly in the mood to eat any of the lunch she packed. She still felt a bit sour from her Father’s sudden announcement this morning: namely, the fact that she had been set up with another suitor, in the hopes that she could be married off to him.

She sighs as she sits at her desk, turning the invitation over in her hand. Another man with an esteemed pedigree and vast fortune. Another player in the games of money and politics that the upper echelon were ever so fond of.

The man sounded lovely on paper, but Sabrina did not want to be married to a man just for his money or influence. Or even ‘for the company’, as her Father likes to say. She desired love. A meaningful, emotional connection with someone.

Why couldn’t her Father understand that? Why was such a thing not possible for her?

With another sigh, Sabrina places the slip of paper face down on her desk, feeling much too irate to even bear looking at it anymore. Maybe she could distract herself by looking over the business’s transactions again.

Flower Festival

[🐎] — The busy days never ended. Even after her conversation with Kana, and her subsequent decision to make a little more time for herself to relax and spend time with the people that mattered to her, work at the ranch and shop was still far too demanding for her to comfortably take any time off.

So she doesn’t have time to go around delivering flowers to her friends this year, which is why she pays a City Hall courier to do it instead. With this, everyone would be able to get their gifts on time! But Georgia would keep the snapdragon to herself, for a more special occasion...

Belated Gifts || Max & Evelyn

[♫] — It seems that in his months-long absence, a number of developments happened in the archipelago. So much so that he could hardly grasp it all himself, and was probably in dire need of a refresher course, but it had been enough for him to know that he had been away for far too long.

Evelyn and her beau were married now, for one, a fact that both shocked and delighted Max to no end. His cousin had never been one for love and permanent commitments. Even though he had sensed something special about her relationship with Soseki, he still couldn’t help the surprise he felt, for them taking such a large step.

Once he settles back in to the city, he decides to pay his dear cousin a visit at her lovely abode, the heir outfitted in a thick, white fur coat as he approaches her doorstep, knocking and grinning brightly once she answers the door.

“Yo, Evelyn~!” He greets, using some hip lingo he learned on the mainland. Chuckling, Max wraps the woman up in a warm hug. “It’s been far too long! I heard about the marriage, and I am absolutely delighted for both you and Soseki! Congratulations, dear.” 

He smiles apologetically. “I’m just sorry I couldn’t be there myself, for your big day.”

She was no professional dancer, but she could do ballroom waltzes well, aside from that... Like she had stated before, it was more about having fun than caring about how you looked.

Catching Up With Tea | Evelyn & Margaret

The ring on Margaret’s finger weighed heavily, the feeling of it still a bit new and different than the dating ring she had sported before. This new ring... It held a different significance to it, a different meaning and feeling and Margaret felt the responsibility of taking care of her soon-to-be-spouse through the eyes of Jake’s mother, felt through the ring the elf now wore. 

The doorbell rang and Margaret nearly leaped out of her seat, anxious to finally tell someone the exciting news. She had invited Evelyn over, one of the first people she thought of telling when the proposal finally happened. Plus, she had a very important question to ask the fashion-thinking woman. She opened the door, hiding her left had in order to make it a surprise. 

“Evelyn, come on inside~. It’s been a while since we’ve been able to sit and have tea together. We’ve got so much to catch up on!” She opened the door wider to allow Evelyn to come inside.

A Year With You || Evelyn & Soseki

It had been a year. One whole year of marriage. Who knew a small ring on your finger could change your whole life so much?

Then came baby. Two, in fact. Aiko and Hayato: his pride and joys, his little bundles of love. Being a stay at home dad fit him well. He still worried about not being a great father, but it was hard to worry too much when he was singing poopy diaper songs while sleep-deprived. 

And Evelyn... they didn’t have as much time in their schedule for all the things they used to do and it made him sad. The most he got to hold her was at night, but he snuck in as many kisses as he could in-between. 

Of course, one whole year also meant something else: their anniversary. It snuck up on him faster than expected. One moment they were exchanging vows, the next they were having kids, and then suddenly a whole year had passed. Wanting the night to be just for them, he was able to find a babysitter in advance and then prepared alone time for them. Dinner, some music, the simple enjoying things the hadn’t had a chance to do as much with twins taking the run of the house.

When Evelyn returned home, she’d find it all laid out. Lit candles cast a flickering, warm glow over the walls and an incense burner puffed a woody, floral fragrance into the air.

Unfortunately, Soseki, who had yet to catch up on his sleep, was fast asleep. I’ll just close my eyes for a minute, had been his last thought.

Look At Us Now | Evelyn & Luke

It had been quite some time since Luke had brought Mia over to visit Evelyn, the Hunt family wanting to give Evelyn and her husband some time to have their honeymoon and enjoy the new married life. However, with Mia having grown up so much within the last couple of months, Luke felt that Evelyn deserved to see how smart her niece was getting. 

So, Luke packed up a diaper bag and let Mia set the pace for the walk to Evelyn’s place, the toddler taking her new walking skill very seriously. She was getting into everything and climbing all over the place, but it was great to see her so active and balanced. They got to Evelyn’s place at a slow pace, but he picked up Mia and let her knock on the door and press the doorbell (much to her delight). 

“Evelyn! Your favorite niece and brother-in-law are here to say hi!”
