I actually love glass onion being set deep in covid times but where's the post that was like . Glass Onion should have ended with benoit blanc getting home and testing positive for covid . I really think that would've tied the whole thing together

also btw that passage about media consumption as activism and the idea of "gayboring" (this post) are twin sisters to me because when you see media consumption as activism and therefore as a reflection of real life, any gritty or unsavory or "weird" aspects of any marginalized culture/community gets completely sanitized in favor of portraying an "ideal" form of that community in the eyes of consumerism (i.e.: boring and safe and non-confrontational)

i just watched Knives Out for the first time tonight and i have a million and one thoughts about it but i think the most succinctly i can explain why it's such a good movie, is that i correctly guessed the (insanely good) plot twist/reveal less than halfway though, and never once as it went on did i feel like it was "too easy" or "out of nowhere." this movie is SO well-crafted and has such a love and respect for the audience and doesn't belittle the audience's intelligence or withhold information just for cheap suspense and still manages to be so interesting and genuinely funny??? fucking top notch movie

i'm for sure not finishing veilguard. i set it down a while and tried again and ahh i'm just not enjoying it. the characters dont have a depth im looking for.. the insertion of a writer's white guilt onto the elves that are based on real life indigenous people and have been in-games enslaved and treated horrifically and are the ones who don't have "real" gods that are actually just blighted tyrants. everything with taash and the qunari. the gameplay was fun for a while but then it made my hand so numb i couldnt do anything for a week. the last straw was taash's gender talk that suddenly turned into picking a cultural identity for them to align with out of nowhere and then soon after learning that Another antagonist is of course an elf. starting to feel like their implying that all elves become evil when given power jfc. i think i'm actually done with it it started making me feel gross and bored. i don't care if you enjoy it or not, everyone's got a different threshold it just crossed mine.

So I never saw Knives Out, saw all the memes, saw all the posts about the plot and the themes and the casting. And now all thst again with the Glass Onion sequal. Saw post after post about Benoit Blanc's accent. And finally, finally saw enough of them that I thought,

"Ok, I'll pull up a clip and see just what the fuss over Daniel Craig doing an American Southern Accent is. I've heard plenty of BBC actors do an American Accent, they all do the same two ones, vaugly Texan and broadly Texan. Nothing new"

I...was not prepared for the experience of hearing FogHorn LeCorn's voice come out of James Bond...that, that was something else

Oh yeah, btw!! FINALTALE FRISK! Accidentally made their ref much cleaner than all the other characters, mostly bc I did the whole... sketching process in my sketchbook so I just lined it lmao

Actually very happy with this! Left the design for a bit bc I wasn't sure initially + wanted to get the weapons done.... gave up on the weapons for now lmao But I'm pretty proud of this design overall >:3

OH AND, shout out to Locke FF6 and Firion FF2's Dissidia designs having incredibly cool head wraps, I am super normal about them
