I love seeing Rory run in the field!! Bird dog doing bird dog things!! You said in the tags you had different training and priorities with her vs Mav re: offleash running like that. What kinds of things did you do differently with Rory to be comfortable having her offleash at a distance with reliable recall?
I was writing a whole novel but really it boils down to this chart. Under the cut because it's (vertically) long.
In short, it's just as much about what I didn't do with Maverick as what I did do with Aurora.
(Edited to add: I am extremely fortunate to live in the prairies where the kind of visibility I need is easy to find. Use my experience to inspire your own training if you like, but don't use it as a recipe. I have my own goals and my own priorities and those are likely different than yours.)
Maverick:
🔵 Supremely confident from day 1
🔵 Came home in August (extremely good and exciting time for outdoor adventures)
🔵 Prioritized specific sports behaviours over foundational building blocks like engagement and cooperation
🔵 Learned bad habits from my older dog at the time (prey drive > recall)
🔵 Was indiscriminately prey driven. If it moved, he wanted to kill it.
🔵 I phased out treats too fast and didn't want to use an ecollar or long line
🔵 I focused on "social media dog behaviours" (think like walking extremely close to me on trails) and got frustrated when we couldn't meet these rather than meeting my dog where he was at. This created a lot of frustration in our dog adventures.
🔵 I practiced recalls constantly when I didn't have to, making them a tedious behaviour for him. I would recall him 20-50 times a hike for everything from "you're too far away from me" to "I want to take a photo".
Aurora
🟣 Came to me a little insecure and looked to me for reassurance
🟣 Came home in December (a cold and relatively boring time for outdoor adventures)
🟣 I prioritized engagement, cooperation, and name recognition from day 1
🟣 Practiced good habits by walking offleash in the snow either alone or with Pike (amazing recall)
🟣 Is extremely birdy, but is very very focused. She easily calls off deer or people/dogs in the distance because she mostly cares about birds.
🟣 Literally always gets offered a high value snack for recalling or voluntary check ins (I will never phase this out, I will carry chunks of cheese on offleash walks for the rest of her life)
🟣 I never practice recalls if I don't need them. This one is hard to explain, but once Rory understood that long whistle = come back as fast as you can, I don't whistle unless I really need to. I recall her an average of 0-3 times per hike (*based on visibility or wildlife*) and trust her to make good decisions otherwise. I keep my eyeballs on her 100% of the time and choose areas with good visibility, but I don't recall her just for being far away.
🟣 I limit hikes where I have to nag her often (think, in the woods where I dont have a great line of sight and have to remind her to stay close to me) to a few times a month or less so she doesn't start getting frustrated about it.
🟣 I trust the training I put into her and choose to run her in areas with (relatively) reduced risk if she makes the "wrong" choice. I don't nitpick everything she does and I let her make her own choices, within reason.
🟣 I have an interrupter cue to ask her to stop doing something before I call her back (if she's digging a hole and I want her to move on, I use "Rory, enough! Here!") instead of whistling at her.
🟣 I don't force her attention on check ins. If she runs back to me and doesn't want a snack and wants to run straight back out, I let her run back out.
🟣 I have anticipatory cues for the end of a walk so I don't have to recall her when we get to the end of the field.
I want to say that it's nerve wracking to watch my dog sprint at full speed hundreds of yards away from me. I have to fight the impulse to recall her just because she's far away. It's an exercise in trust because I'm always worried about her going over the horizon, or running into a wildlife, or falling into a hole, but it's an important thing to work on if you have a dog that needs that trust to thrive.
Mav and I were a good team, but I never fully trusted him outdoors. I always had my finger on the ecollar buttons ready for him to do an evil and need to be vibrated. It was exhilarating to watch him in the field, but it wasn't really fun or relaxing.
Rory and I built a much stronger foundation of trust (I personally never would have been able to do this if I had more than one dog). She doesn't know any tricks yet, but I'm super confident in her recall and ability to take direction in the field, even when she's sprinting as fast as possible.
#dogblr#about mav#about aurora#hahahaha i still wrote a novel#i have a lot of thoughts about recall#i never want to see a four month old puppy with an ecollar and yet i see it all the time in the gundog circles#and i get it i just find it super distasteful#i was team 'never get a dog in winter' !#and i am now team '100% get a dog in winter'#it was sooooo much easier to build good habits when nothing was moving in the winter freeze#my biggest issue with rorys recall is that she struggles to recall off pike#but even that improves each time we go out and thats more an arousal issue than a recall issue#she's a really cool dog#i still choose my offleash locations and time super carefully#i would never go out at noon on a sunday and run her offleash#i go out to quiet areas at quiet times#and i just let her do her thing#trust is a two way street even with dogs#ask#anon#bird dog training#recall training#recall#<- tags so i can find this later#eta: i want to add that i do use her name to get her attention if i need something or want a photo#and i have a specific cue for 'look at me from a distance and decide if you want to come closer'#but im largely quiet in the field when shes running especially if were walking by ourselves#i just let her do her thing#thats why we're out there after all

Bagging the Hag's Hair: the Trickster Hero's Way
Auntie Ethel's hair: one of the best permanent buffs in the game, but aside from it being a dicey get on Honor mode, it can be a hard sell to roleplayers who don't want their upstanding hero to make a deal with one of the most evil funniest antagonists in the game. Sure, you can save Mayrina and force her to give you the hair, but what about all the other captives in her lair? With the hag still alive, trying to save them is more likely to kill them in the process.
But with a bit of finesse (and maybe putting the Ethel fight off to AFTER level 4 at least, especially in honor mode) you can not only convince Ethel to give up the hair and Mayrina, but literally backstab her immediately after, leaving her foiled by her tendency to monologue. It's a heist worthy of even the most Good-aligned characters. I could easily see Wyll using this trick, pulling a fast one on the fae, proving himself both moral AND cunning. (Plus, it's a nice palette cleanser if you just got done wiping out the grove while managing to keep the two good-aligned companions with you).
This one's for you, Karlach!
First of all, I assume you're doing your best to pass either the Intimidation or Deception check to convince Ethel to surrender Mayrina. Otherwise why are you even bothering with this?
Anyway, you want to reach this dialogue and then STOP.
Then, switch to the party member you kept out of combat with the hag.
This is important, as if they're entered into combat, they'll be confined to this cutscene along with everyone else (notice the speech bubbles next to the rest of the party). This is the trickiest part, as without a party limit extender mod, it's a big ask to go into the hag fight with just 3 characters (why I recommend taking her on a little later, but you can totally do it before getting into act 2).
If they're not in combat, upon swapping to them, you'll get the Reward Select screen for the hair, but everyone else will still be in the cutscene. If you want a guaranteed way to keep them out of the fight should it get dicey (with lots of Ethel clones everywhere taking up potential hiding space with their vision cones) you can try keeping the one party member outside the arena, at the top of the trap hill past the waterfall, and then just use Feather Fall (any source of it) to jump past all the traps down to the fight arena.
This is important (and a good reason to get her hp as low as possible, not just beneath the threshold of 30 needed to trigger her bargaining). You have to reduce her hp to 0 in one shot. That means the damage has to be dealt all at once (no pause for reactions like sneak attack or divine smite, you want to use those sort of moves directly from the hotbar rather than triggered on reaction). If you don't kill her in one shot, that character will be pulled into the cutscene as well, and your chance will pass.
If you succeed though, she will disappear and the cutscene will immediately proceed (I missed the chance to get a screenshot of the damage dealt, but it was over 25 so more than enough). There won't be a body to loot.
But, because she's been flagged as dead, all the hag's living prisoners can be freed (also shoutout to act 1 Minthara. Sorry you got the wrong impression of me with the whole killing the grove thing, this is also who I am. I contain multitudes).
Other than the mask bearers, I think I feel the sorriest for this guy, tormented by the worst visions of the future for "he's-an-elf-so-could-have-been-centuries" time. Unfortunately I killed all the mask bearers in my run, but if you can knock them out, and the game isn't bullshit about it, they should be safe to remove the masks without them dying.
One lice-ridden hair clump and suspicious potion later (thanks Astarion! Your role in the playthrough is now done!) and I have 20 strength with no ASIs. Perfect :D
Tricking the Hag to give up her hair and still killing her anyway = success!

hey, i just saw the generally very good i/p poland thread and i am interested in what you said about ashkenaz genetic admixture being mostly southern rather than northern european (i am 3/4 litvak and 1/4 polish jewish myself), but i don’t wanna google jewish genetic ancestry given the uh likely types of interest out there. not with a ten-foot pole. do you happen to know any more about it offhand — i think my brain mostly just wants to know which parts of southern europe — and/or have a clean and reliable source handy? if not, absolutely don’t worry about it, i ain’t sending someone else questing where i myself fear to tread.
Hi! So I've only done some preliminary research myself. The first thing to note is that there is not just one Ashkenazi Jewish ancestral genetic profile. Depending on who YOUR specific ancestors were, different percentages will be assigned to you for different populations. Also, the percentages points can often be rather trivial, but I guess it gives you a sense of what portions of your ancestry are most recent/most present. The other thing to note is that Jewish identity is not based on genetics and pre-dates the knowledge that ancestral genetics even existed. Jewish genetics are an indicator of jewish ancestry, not necessarily jewish identity.
With all of that in mind, I can give you some sources.
There have been extensive studies on a group of Medieval Ashkenazi Jews from Erfurt, Germany.
this study discusses the fact that modern Ashkenazi Jews are related to these Jews, as well as the fact that all Ashkenazi jews are all descended from a small group of people, because of a genetic bottleneck event - the ancestor population was greatly reduced, limiting genetic diversity. This study also describes Ashkenazi Jewish ancestry as a mix between european and middle eastern.
from this study's abstract:
"The Ashkenazi Jewish population has resided in Europe for much of its 1000-year existence. However, its ethnic and geographic origins are controversial, due to the scarcity of reliable historical records. Previous genetic studies have found links to Middle-Eastern and European ancestries, but the admixture history has not been studied in detail yet, partly due to technical difficulties in disentangling signals from multiple admixture events. Here, we present an in-depth analysis of the sources of European gene flow and the time of admixture events by using multiple new and existing methods and extensive simulations. Our results suggest a model of at least two events of European admixture. One event slightly pre-dated a late medieval founder event and was likely from a Southern European source. Another event post-dated the founder event and likely occurred in Eastern Europe. These results, as well as the methods introduced, will be highly valuable for geneticists and other researchers interested in Ashkenazi Jewish origins."
So I was actually incorrect - on average, Ashkenazi Jews *do* have partial Eastern European ancestry. However, it is important to note that the European component of Ashkenazi DNA (which from my experience with DNA tests, is anywhere from 75-50%), is primarily Southern European (60-80%, according to this study).
Now, I also have experience with commercial DNA testing and I'm a lurker on some related subreddits. I don't think commerical DNA tests are 100% accurate but they can give you a general idea.
My results from Illustrative DNA's ancient samples gives me 0% Slavic ancestry, though I'm only half genetically ashkenazi, so its likely that it was lost. My mother's results give her 2.6% Slavic ancestry in the medieval era.
Also, as the studies above said, the Slavic admixture happened relatively late (which makes sense because Ashkenazim mostly moved to the East in the late medieval area.
Anyways saying that Jews come from Eastern Europe is like saying someone who's 2% African on 23andMe is African.

Continuation of the previous post about SOTE adventures from today! (More like the end)
1) So, after finally trying to fight on Torrent and beating Tree Sentinel very quickly without even getting hit myself, I've gotten a BRILLIANT IDEA to try and battle Gaius like this too. That was really pointless. In fact, I just spent the next hour pushing for it and not getting further than reducing his HP to like 60%... Because you know, doing the same thing over and over and OVER hoping that this time the result will be different is definition of insanity. XD
2) Eventually I gave up and tried something else. In this case, to relocate my stats; I have 80 Int as sorcery user, but here it was useless, so I relocated these stats and some extra in those I needed more.
So, uh... Good news: turned out that Int reduces magic damage, so my 80 Int was crucial for surviving his attacks. Bad news: I wasted 2 Larval Tears to learn this lesson. 🤡🤡🤡
3) I tried to do more stuff and the very last thing I tried was to give Mimic Tear Morgott's blade to spam fire attacks, while I have shield and stab him with Scarlet Rot. I've already noticed that fire was dealing much more damage, but by that time @jarognieva whom I asked for help answered me!! So, we cooperated!
4) .....
Turned out that she forgot to change her name from МАМКА ТВОЯ)))0)0)0)0) АХАХПЖПЛАОП
(It says 'your mum' XDDDD)
5) Jara also confirmed that this boss WAS weak to fire and holy, so that sealed the deal with Morgott's blade! I legit didn't have a better fire skill weapon on hands.
6) We made a great attempt at first, she is very strong with holy attacks! We only lost because earlier I relocated all flasks to Crimson, so I ran out of skill and could not use it again because I didn't have any Cerulean (🤡🤡🤡)
7) BUT WE WOOONNN OH MAN WE WON
(Damn, how does Messmer keep attracting so many friends? I read it as both them being cursed and being close with THE war person (Radahn) were important here)
@jarognieva YOU ARE SUPER HELPFUL HOW DO YOU EVEN DO THAT GDHYGGHTGFH AAAA I WAS SUFFERING FOR GOOD HOUR AND MORE ON THIS BOSS!!!!!! POWER OF FRIENDSHIP BITCHES!!!
(Also it was the second time we started to aggressively smash jump button after beating the boss XD It should become the running gag now! Or should I say..... the jumping gag? *gets shot*)
8) I was ready to go for the day since it is late and I need to cherish what little sleep I can have, so for the last instance I decided to go and check new stuff at Enia's!
Not much to add here, though seems like it would be a good spell for my random surprise Faith build moments! Though two overlapping stalks repeating the Erdtree pattern did remind me of that overlapping serpents symbol from previous post.
I was JUST questioning what weapon would actually WORK while I am fighting on Torrent! Thank you king xd
So he invented that cool sorcery while trying to prove Radahn that he was a better sorcerer!
9) Interestingly enough, first at Enia's I only could find Gaius head, chest and arm pieces but not the leg one!
I wondered if something was wrong with that! The description did mention that he was one with his boar after all! My assumption was that simply his set was not going to have the legs piece, but... it did!
10) So, outside of the area where we battled him, surprisingly there was an ALBINAURIC WOMAN! Just a normal one, riding a wolf and all!
And she dropped... this:
Ohhhh boy. So Albinaurics can't wear boots and pants, now? Oh boy. Well, I told that Loretta was likely not an Albinauric, but the girls didn't believe me. 🌛 This feels like it confirms this! Like I said, she is oddly similar to Dung Eater in cosplaying the species she is protecting vghhggh What a realization....
11) So Albinaurics were pretty much servants for Carians (like Pidiya), and Rykard straight up tortured them, so that makes the fact that one was like an older brother for Radahn interesting..? Perhaps, a glimpse on the "kinder former self" of Radahn that presumably was "lost" to war-mongering (if not some corruption due to wrestling with the Stars)? If Miquella yearning for younger version of Radahn (as far as I got spoilered) is any indication?
12) Another one for that type of talismans is also found nearby:
13) The reward at the end was 5 Scadutree Fragments! Yaaay!!! All scattered near 'Scadutree Chalice'. What an object 🤔
_____________
So yeah, a lot of optional stuff was tackled today! It is so satisfying to finally adapt to a hard boss and defeat them, really. For real, Soulsborne games do not need difficulty selection.

The Stormlight Archive Volume 1: The Way of Kings’ Review: Chapters 16-19
link to contents page - https://at.tumblr.com/the-vibes-are-off/hey-hey/96xd9ohihrzs
FINALLY I woke up this morning with some semblance to get out of bed before 8am and actually make the most out of my day. Essays are going hella slow and I honestly think the weight of dealing with them is just draining me hard, I cannot wait to get them tf out of the way; not to mention I’ve just spent £70 on Shakespeare for the coming semester :’) yay so excited for them to arrive today ;-;.
Unfortunately, as the next semester approaches I imagine the frequency of these posts will decline as I’ll have to reduce my TWOK reading to 1 chapter a day at most in order to fit in all my uni reading. Which I am so gutted about because honestly I have enjoyed reading this chunk so much and the thought of having to slow down makes me so sad :(((.
Spoiler Free Zone:
This section does so much in the way of widening the scope to fill out the history of the plot and I’m living for it. Seeing more about Kaladin’s history AND like fckn ancient history as well???? I am so in.
I feel like this section has really got me into the swing of things more. With TWOK largely lying outside of the genre I normally read and not having the motivation of reading it like out of necessity for my degree, I was worried that I’d lose motivation but this section has really solidified my interest to the fullest !!
*** SPOILERS AHEAD***
Spoiler Zone:
I have loved finding out more about Kal in the flashback sections and this has not changed. 1. Ofc Mr. Edgy Boy is a simp and fought to impress a girl just ofc 2. and on top of that, ofc he’s secretly soft round the edges, especially for his brother. The bit when Tien gives him a sick rock ??? Bye I would smile too what a cute interaction. Bit of a RIP that he then like immediately got into a fight, over some juicy Shardblade lore nonetheless? Brando feeding us fr.
I love that he has Kaladin also thinking what everyone else is thinking in observing Sadeas as a pompous ass xD. It read so similar to what I love about some of my fave English Lit books in the critique of the upper classes and I will forever appreciate it (fuck the tories :p).
Then again tho, as ever, Brando refuses Kaladin a break and has his men dropping like flies bro. Ik he was trained as a surgeon but mf is not a miracle worker cut him some slack.
Then onto the Kholins and my goodness these have to have been my fave chapters so far. Starting off with the slightly less preferred, but still great, chapter of family revelations like Dalinar not remembering his wife and Renarin’s feelings of inadequacy. My little heart breaks for them :((
BUT THE VISION CHAPTER?????????? Oh my goodness I loved this chapter so much I lit had the whole chapter tabbed as a love this fro the start bc I just knew it was gonna slap so hard. You’re telling me, all in one chapter, I have been given an epic fight with shadow creatures, WITH some of the knights radiant, AND one of them is a woman, all wrapped up in sick fucking lore in a vision of the past brought on by a storm that ends in a mystical voice giving vague advice. Jesus take the wheel.

a recap on jam
It's been a few weeks since I finished the Acerola Jam 0 (check out the jam if you haven't, there's a lot of cool games!) and I've had a bit of time to decompress and think about my experience. I also was literally unable to do this until this week so hahaaaaa.
If you haven't already, please check out my game jam game, Gunmatic Aberration. Some of what I'm gonna go over will make more sense if you've played it.
but maybe you like having no clue what I'm talking about, in which case, read on
A Summary
This was a good experience and has given me a good bit to think on for the other game. Which is both good and bad: part of the reason why progress has seemingly stopped is because of this. I've been working on stuff behind the scenes and polishing up bits (and rethinking others) to show off later.
I'm happy I was able to release a project that people could, you know, play. From start to finish, with very few bugs that soft-locked or broke the game. People found it fun too, which was a plus.
However, there's a few things that were problems and I'm unhappy with:
The game is confusing to play without any guidance; there wasn't obvious enough signposting or tutorials, which meant I had to tell people how to play (this is not a good sign).
The balance isn't great: some rooms are too hard. Others are too easy. Some powerups just suck, others are too good.
The boss doesn't take advantage of the core gimmick.
The presentation is lacking.
The last one is the thing that stings the most.
The Problem Of Visibility
In the three weeks the game has been around in the jam, my game was viewed 52 times, downloaded 19 times and rated 4 times. I posted it a few times and passed it around my friends. Around 6 of those downloads were from my friends. These are, by all means, not bad numbers. Someone on the Acerola discord found that the mean number of ratings is around 4 - so I'm perfectly average.
Part of this is just due to there being over 900 entries. Part of it is luck. A lot of it is because the game fundamentally doesn't catch your eye. My visual competency is, well
The biggest problem, I feel, boils down to marketing. Let's list a few problems with Gunmatic.
The game looks like a flash game made in 2008. This isn't bad but there's a stigma against those games.
The thumbnail does an awful job at describing the game and getting people to click.
The screenshots are confusing without context and frankly, suck.
The title sucks.
Part of this is just my own general competency. I am not a good artist by any means. This is something I struggle with constantly - I can, at best, make nice-ish looking animations and use some basic tricks to make it look a bit smoother. You can see this in a lot of my other clips. I also suck at names (honestly, my other game has some awful names...).
Focusing on GA, I could've done a few things better here. The easiest ones here are, add a gif to the screenshots and make a better thumbnail. I've done a quick mockup below of what that could look like (note i spent like 5 minutes on this). I could've used the gif in this very post on my screenshots screen too.
Getting People To Play
The second hurdle was actually getting people to play the game. It's one thing to get people to click, but how do you get people to actually play it?
I had a click-to-download ratio of about 3:1. That's, all things considered, not that bad! However, getting people to actually download your game, in a game jam with 958 entries, is difficult. Why play this flash game you need to download when you can play MEGA CHESS, which looks like a Real Game that you can play in your browser?
It probably would've been smarter if I'd just exported this to HTML5 and embedded it into the browser. This would've reduced the hurdle to play significantly: a lot of the most popular games in the game jam were, expectedly, browser games. And games Acerola had boosted (hint hint haha jk unless..........?).
Playtesting
This relates to my other issue: a lack of playtesting. by people who weren't me, i mean.
This is probably one of the hardest problems I've faced - both here and in my actual game. Unless you have friends who are into game development, it's hard to get someone to sit down, play your game, and give you their thoughts on what works and what doesn't. It's a fairly significant ask of someone! They have to play it for a bit, understand how it works, suffer through any problems, and then formulate their thoughts.
I developed Gunmatic Aberration over 2 weeks while working full time. I had a lot of dead time to fill in those two weeks - I should have been bugging my friends for their opinions and telling me what sucked and what didn't.
I didn't do that often.
This, above everything else, is what hurt the game the most. The game is fun, but it's incredibly unpolished and has more potential than anything else. The randomness of the game hurts it (it's a roguelite, after all): you can effectively just Die if you get a difficult room without the right powerups. It's difficult to figure out how to play without explicit instruction. These are all problems born from the developer being the only person to play it.
This is slightly just anecdotal, but I believe the top games in the Game Jam are both made by exceptionally talented people who also had some people giving them feedback. Maybe some more than others - but there was a conversation that I didn't have until the last few days.
i guess thats it?
So! That's what I did for about half a month in March. Then I went on a holiday and have been ruminating on this since.
You might be asking, "wait a fucking minute, you haven't posted anything since... November! What the hell! What have you been doing for the 4 months prior!"
That's cause, uh
um
woah check this out

Late night thoughts, about software and algorithms.
Hmm, haven't posted late night thoughts here before, it seems appropriate, I think? And late night is relative, as I get older, late gets earlier. :-)
Reminder, algorithms depend on human input to function. Without humans entering data and reacting to output, algorithms are just a bunch of gibberish text coded as 0's and 1's.
With the internet and current systems, it may take a large group of humans to change the behavior of an algorithm, but it is possible.
For example, it's possible to shift the results of a search in a search engine.
Analyze the current patterns of a search for a term, set up websites and social media posts to optimize their terms, and voila! Behavior changed to display results that may not apply.
See Search Engine Optimization (SEO) companies who are paid to do this for advertising.
For social media, change the algorithm by changing what you like. Now these companies do work to passively gather data, so it is a bit harder to change the behavior. But even here, it is possible, with a bit of thought
Ad blockers and Javascript blockers can help to starve the algorithm of input. Using the built-in filtering tools and turning off notifications is another method of changing the input.
Check and respond on your schedule, not the algorithms.
Set new trends in fashion that mess with the algorithm. A few years ago there was software that claimed to recognize male versus female faces.
One problem, I am female, the different on-line software packages I tried only recognized me as male.
After some analysis, I think this occurred for two reasons
1. I don't wear makeup
2. My face structure is one that could be described as androgynous, i.e. I look male/female depending on the person's viewpoint.
I tend to think the lack of makeup is the strongest factor, however, I have had problems all my life of getting mistaken as a male so that's probably not the only reason.
A simple thing and a possible assumption built into the algorithm.
The key to all of this is to understand software is:
All software is built of branching trees that require input from humans to do anything. The input might be as simple as pressing a start button but the input is required.
If you shift the input so it fall outside of the parameters of one of the branches, you force it to follow a very different path.
Do this often enough and you can cause a break in the paths..
In my opinion, all software is inherently fragile due to the complexity of the branches.
Finally, PSA, I would like to see an effort to improve the tools used to develop software to help reduce this fragility. Software has become a key part of our infrastructure yet there has not been a lot of change in the underlying technology in my lifetime.
We should also look at identifying and regulating key portions of software development used in our infrastructure. I suspect everyone else is also tired of all of the cyber-attacks, identity theft and scams that are enabled by software.
Without humans, computers are fancy blocks of metal that have a bunch of sand storing ridiculous amounts of code and data. Talk of replacing humans is meant to cause fear and make money for someone somewhere.
And mess with the algorithm, post some nonsense to pour some sand in the gears.
Have a swimmingly lovely evening of brillig proportions while twitching the branch to an offload of intrigue that matches and mixes the tones of the sand in time.
And to all, a good nite, a good nite, a pleasant eve until the morrow and the sun of the nite transforms to the morning brights upon the brow.

It’s 22 Nov 2024. Need to get this out fast because it’s slippery. I’m seeing a solution to the pathway through or across the MB of a specific kind of story. But I’m distracted by the multitude of threads pouring through my perception. Step back. You almost had it. Grab it when it comes round. It was that a big negative can fly by fast, which became being able to take a large hit because it goes by so fast that it reduces to orthogonal, which invokes the splitting behavior of the choice K’ing of log2, which I’m using more because it fits the idea of a space, one that can extend in directions. I hope that using it gives some ideas.
What does that mean, that a big negative flies by. In that moment, I saw it as what used to distract, what used to cause a great deal of disruption, worry, anxiety, compressed into no more than a few minutes, so on the other side of that was and is a sense of acceptance that this work is nearly done. This expresses into what? Frequency and wavelength of or in the negative Attaches to the existing negative and the existing positive. It’s indifferent. Which of course has been a topic of late.
This enables the growth of the positive, of the ++ relation which we eventually discussed using the idea of best good and good best. The former tends to mean the best of the good while the latter tends to mean the good of the best. That is an example of two 1-0Segments, and you can see the Bip as the idealization of the relations, as literally best to best and good to good as the hypotenuses of the gs. Is it clear we are mapping best and good to 1 and 0, so you get connections like good is 1 and best is 0, so your care about relative good vanishes. You can scale all sorts of relations from that: ordinality vanishes when you filter and screen to pick out that which fits.
I think we may need new notation because the idea of a filter is that you apply it going forward, as you expand, and you use what goes through, while a screen captures what you want to keep out. A screen can hold out bugs and capture gold, so the tObject being described has characteristics in its iObject which enable it to be 2 Things at once, allowing air in and water through while capturing the dirt and bugs. That is identity convergence in an object, and it’s why we prize design which either functions inherently well or which has multiple uses. It slices! It dices! I propose filter&screen or f&S because that’s easy to type and I probably got it from your side anyway.
It’s a role, right? The more I play it, the better I am at playing it.
The coming together of meanings expresses to the gsProcess conception of the real line. So you’re telling me we’ve defined the real line and that is a very big deal? I don’t get it. You take the line segment, which you generated in the first place, you then identify it as the line formed by the intersection of the szK with the zsK, which you explain is taking one to be cardinal and the other to be ordinal so each are counting the other and thus if you go along the zsK then you are flipping the labels. This models as the rotation of an HG or of 2 gs connected at the corner End.
I think what this means is that this enables meandering thoughts and multitudes of Pathways, which it should because what this says is that any step along the zsK relative to some szK means that is now the szK in the count of what it does, thus enabling loops and the like within regions or across connected Ends and Things, thus exploring the nature of a Thing within or related to other Things.
So what you’re saying is that this extends from an End on the original szK, which is the bell which tolls for thee. Or some level in between the next cue and existence.
I just had a very good pumpernickel bagel. Nice skin, moist inside. Doesn’t taste like bread in the round.
So this Attaches gsProcess across the line segment which generates, key point, in 1Space and which converts at scale into 0Space. The ‘at scale’ means the amount of gsProcess it takes to make root2 seamless to whatever scale required. That seems crushing but the structure operates, meaning it generates and constructs using gsProcesses, which means the D3-4 existences, within their D4-3 potential, are persistent, are coherent, and are consistent. Persistence means it takes gsProcess to make something disappear so that doesn’t happen and tObjects persist unless something happens to them. Coherence is that it takes gsProcess to construct gsSpace at scale, which means overlapping Things, which means coherence. Coherence allows crazy things to happen but only what’s allowable. Like a person can go nuts or act out of character, but that exists as potential. It’s not like a person can be here and then there without covering the intervening space. It’s not like we can drop something and it doesn’t fall. Everything falls means everything falls unless there’s a reason why, like it’s a helium balloon or it’s held up by wires. Coherence is meant to act at the level of tObjects, ruling out teleportation but allowing mental illness.
Consistency was the most difficult idea to develop. Let’s say that a person is walking down the street. There is a tiny chance, they’ll be afflicted by a sudden mania to dance without that expressing in other ways. Much of that tiny chance is that it’s for a show. There is no chance that a house will fall down and erect itself, brick by brick, timber by timber, nail by nail. It’s just gsProcess, right? And the house persists, either as a house which took a vacation or as the bricks it became until it rebirthed itself. Consistency attaches the concept of Thingyness. Like a damaged house is still a house but one that’s gone is a memory of a house. The iObject matters.
Now I can better see why these matter, and that the order of discussing them reveals different things. Persistence is about the gsProcess itself: there is no indication that D-structure will suddenly stop constructing . Coherence is about the relation of tObjects, but of course that means tObjects as parts of Things because coherence is contextual as well. I think I can get more out about that but first: consistency is the relation across Things, meaning across iObjects and the intangible related to the tangible.
Coherence is contextual and that matters for stuff like turbulence, because that generates into the D4-3 enclosure, into that DE’s gsSpace, within the potential of that DE but not smooth across in turbulent conditions, which sounds circular but which means that stable is a solution and other solutions which fit into that gsSpace may be very different.
I’m going to try to address something that came up this morning about counting 1. No idea where this came from but I suddenly found myself thinking that my favorite idea may be n-1. It’s simple and covers a lot. The idea is that there’s always the projective gap over the dividing line between now and next. Even when you’re in the moment, because that’s Actor and the projective gap refers to Observer and Triangular (and Triangular over gs, which I often forget). It’s like the JSMill observation about the fool and the wise man but you can see one is unaware and the other aware, and the observation contains a conclusion about happiness which assumes that leaves as opposed to growing with awareness. Anyway. That was high school.
I’m having to stave off the desire to over-explain the basics. Let’s take as given that we’ve got D-structure, gsProcess, SBE, fCM, and on and on. That’s an example of the negative explained at top: negative as a time drain, as connected to doubt, etc. Can suck up time or be set aside because that word acceptance has been a main object of study for over 3 decades. Took a lot to reach the stage where we enact the limit conception in gsProcess. It wasn’t that long ago that I despaired of ever being able to reach a level of understanding where formalism occurs. Now I’m thinking that we define a potential and count back from it, meaning we have a fill, which we can directly relate to renormalization as this in a different guise because both find those Ends which we know, and that fill is a gsP expression. We can use gsP and use a delta to indicate the gap.
This morning it came out as counting. I don’t remember what oh right it was 207542 and then half that or 103771. The idea wasn’t the number but that this would be the -1 coming from the n being enlarged SBE to the n-1 of the IL. That’s 2*41*2531. I don’t want to go down that rabbit hole. I’m trying to say that information at 3 is n and the n-1 of the IL means the -1 is the gap, without thinking much about why that gap because it constructs as 200k plus 18*419 from the other side.
I need a break.

if you don’t mind me asking, do you perhaps have a list of fangans that you like/are into and seen? And are we possibly allowed to make fangan recommendations? Just curious :0
Ahh sorry for the late reply!!! You are allowed to make recommendations but that doesnt guarantee that I’ll get into them. I dont have as much freetime as i used to im afraid… alas
Anywhere heres all the fangans ive gotten into ranked on a scale of 1-10, 1 being terrible, 5 being perfectly average, and 10 being the best thing ever written. If you want a more indepth opinion on any in specific just shoot me an ask X].
Complete fangans
Danganronpa another - 8/10, pretty good! Follows Trigger Happy Havoc a little closely in spots, but whenever it does that it’s trying to subvert whatever its mirroring in the first game. The cast is fun and bounces off eachother really well
Super danganronpa another 2 - 7/10, while it does improve in a lot of aspects when compared to the first game on both a technical and story level, I honestly preferred the first game to the second one. I was spoiled for most of the events in this game and the whole luck transfer thing was really convoluted. It’s still good tho!
Danganronpa Lapse - 7/10, I really liked the unique artstyle, and the reduced cast allowed for everyone to shine a little bit more! The story was good as well, tho echos whole thing could’ve been explained more clearly. honestly this didn’t even need to be a Danganronpa game, it felt the weakest whenever it was trying to do that. Although I did enjoy the trials
In-progress fangans: have at least 2 chapters out
Danganronpa blowback: 6/10. Not the biggest fan tbh. It does have some cool ideas and characters but when it misses it misses hard. Granted this is one of the oldest fangans ive played, so some aspects can be forgiven based on that. I do wonder if it wouldve gotten better or worse had it gone on for longer
Danganronpa antebellum: 9/10. I had so much fun when playing this game its unreal. Its not perfect by a long shot, it definitely feels like a fangame, but thats whats so great about it. It doesnt take itself too seriously, which is an issue that can easily affect a fan project. The designs for the cast are super fun and i cant say that there's any characters i actively dislike.
Danganronpa despair time: 9/10. Another really good one! It takes advantage of the medium its presented rather well. The story so far is really good and the parts “inspired” by the mainline games are changed up enough where it makes the tropes feel refreshing. I dont like all the characters but hey its rare to have an entire cast of faves
Just started fangans: only the prologue / first chapter is out
Project edens garden - 7/10. It’s got me hooked! I found the prologue very interesting. It set up the characters well and let them have a chance to shine while also setting up the main story. I found the animal theming interesting and am excited to see where it goes. I just also really like the art style. Each characters color palette is really distinct and i really like that :]
Danganronpa (he)artless deceit - 6/10. It’s alright. On a technical level it's very impressive, and it's clear the people making this really care about it! It just… didn't really click with me. A couple characters did interest me, but i wasn't very invested in the main two focused on in the proluge. I'll be interested to see where it goes but atm I'm more of an observer than a fan.
Danganronpa mauve - 5/10. I dont know what to think about this one. Its only got one chapter out so its hard to judge it, but it just didnt really captivate me all that much. Its clear a lot of work and time has been put into this, and i can totally see how someone could like this! Its just not my cup of tea X]. Out of every fangan ive seen this definitely feels the most like a danganronpa game, but thats a double edged sword. The characters were alright, but it felt… odd to me how many of them resembled characters from other fangans or the mainline series (looking at you satsuki).
#fanganronpa#fangan#asks#the reviews are spoiler free! theres under the readmore cause of its length

HUD improvements
As my HUD is fairly empty, I've decided it should be the first thing to be redesigned. As TETRIS had a similar problem to me with its gameplay area and screen space, I'll be using them as inspiration
My first decision was to update the text. As I can't make fonts, I elected to use the same system as I did for health in Tempting Fate, using sprites. I recreated the code and began working on my sprites
Originally, they had little starts and moons. However, they just made it look infected so I cut them from the design. The gradient is to stay consistent with my game's palette.
For whatever reason, the number displayed was 1 higher than the value of lives left so I bodged it and had them direct to a number 1 lower. I didn't like this solution but it did work
My display for the text initially looked like this, with a gold border. However, it just didn't work with my game so I went for a luminescant blue
I still hate this. I tried reducing the number to a neon sign but it just doesn't work
So, if I can't make a good HUD, I won't. There won't be a HUD - at least in widget form. That's right, I'm making a 3D one. God help me.
For my first 3D HUD item, I'll need a life counter in the form of a bar. This will need to get the current life count, set the bar to a corresponding height and lerp to a smaller height when an event is called.
This code is a mess but it works as intended. i had a little issue about it lerping from 0, but that was because I hadn't set a default value for the max health. Now, I just need to reuse the code from Shipping Delay on the crane's rope to make it seem like one side of the cube is going down.
I tried doing it myself. It didn't work.
BUT THIS DID. I realised my rope in Shipping Delay used a different way of doing this, that I hadn't used a lerp node for moving the cube, and that it actually was moving, just not enough. Now it's done, I really like how it looks :D
alright it wasn't perfect. When the player's life count reaches 0, the bar bugs out - it goes back from 2 to 1, but without going up so both top and bottom move. Basically, it looks weird.
I have identified the problem. The life count REALLY doesn't want to go to 0. It will go 3-2, 2-1 and then 1-1. WHY? I DON'T KNOW. Correction: its perfectly happy goinng to 0. It just hates going down a third time.
Changing this check in my killbox DOES kind of fix it. The player does have 4 lives, and the last animation does play the previous one, but it's in the right place again. Huh
I FIXED IT KIND OF My solution is foul but it DOES work. I copied the code form the false tree into the true tree after the life check in my killbox and added an open level node. This solution is terrible, but you wouldn't know that by the gameplay.
look at that health bar go
I've added a small fram around the block to help get an idea of scale for how many lives are left
Sam gave me the idea to implement a colour system - I plan to do this by lerping between differend colour variables
'what did it cost you' 'everything' oh who am I kidding I love this. It's awful. It also works - it goes from blue to green, green to yellow, and a backup yellow to blue one in case I mess something up.
This, however, doesn't work. As I sit here typing this, I just realised why. These nodes happpen on update from the timeline, so I need to ensure they aren't happening every tick of the animation.
I showed my code to Jake. After about 10 minutes of suffering and trying to understand what I was doing and why, he showed that I could just use the above nodes instead. Then we spoke about Yugoslavia, but that's unrelated. At any rate, I now know a prettier way of writing that code
As for the little heart below the bar, I tried making it pulsate but this didn't work. I also swapped it out for an image of an actual human heart. Alas, i have reverted both as neither worked.
Adding this code to my heart sprite should have allowed it to shake, and switch the sprite to a more broken one, but for whatever reason it went too far left. I fixed this in the image below.
This was then duplicated for the other heart sprites.

City of Ghosts Session Report 1
System: Worlds Without Number
I've recently begun a campaign in the WWN system, using my own setting but liberally stealing from the WWN setting as I enjoy the concepts presented there.
Previously I have run Alien one shots, hefty D&D 5e campaigns, and have been fortunate to play a pf2e campaign, several Call of Cthulhu one shots, a Star Wars (FFG) campaign, a Vampire campaign, and a MOTW campaign. At this point the only thing missing from my experience is something more OSR adjacent so I was actually very excited to dive into this.
My 5e group is what I would call a "hardcore" gaming group. They are good at number crunching, dedicated to the system they're playing (only players I play with who will read the rulebooks unprompted "for fun"), and have strong thoughts and opinions on things like the difficulty and frequency of encounters and magic/martial balance.
We're also young. A lot of the people I run into in the gaming space are older. The oldest of us is still under thirty. We came up on 5e - something oft forgotten by angry Redditors is the reason a lot of us have only ever played 5e isn't because we're stupid but simply we were the prime age for that to be our main game. the timing of it hitting the mainstream and us being old enough to have both the free time and energy to buy and read books and run campaigns go hand in hand. I've noticed in my other groups there's a similar bias towards whatever system welcomed them into the TTRPG space (shout out to my friend whose first game was Werewolf).
So given that, as pretty serious gamers and 5e players, we all think the DM tools are trash, consistently challenging combat is hard to craft, and the caster/martial disparity is annoying to work around (and the magic item system and crafting is hopelessly broken) - for our next game we wanted to try one of the D&D replacements.
Having played pf2e (the favorite suggestion of many) our thoughts were this: it's too much. An overcorrection. While much was also done to reduce the way modifiers stack, there is a general consensus it would be very difficult to play without a VTT and we simply didn't "vibe" with it.
The common desire we have is deadly or challenging combat and a better balance between martials and casters. Working crafting systems are a bonus.
While we have been eyeballing Shadow of the Weird Wizard as an alternative to Shadows of the Demon Lord and a potential option, I have long been using WWN as a worldbuilding tool in my 5e games and pitched trying it out instead. We are two sessions (and a session 0) into a small scale campaign.
Disclaimer: This is a city based campaign instead of a hexcrawl exploration. I love a city game and am of the opinion a lot of principles of exploration apply, but it may color my opinions.
The most frustrating thing so far has been the lack of organization in the rules, hampered further by no online codex.
I had a discussion with a friend about this. No one has ever claimed that 5e was the pinnacle of organization, so I do wonder if this is just a familiarity gap, but I struggle to find rules and information. What I do find is scattered, requires multiple re-reads, or strong interpretation.
People constantly bemoan confusing rulings in 5e and the onus put on the DM but it certainly doesn’t seem like WWN, at least, changes that at all. It’s not really a knock against the system either. As I understand it WWN and its sister games are made by a one man army so editing, parsability, etc, is probably quite different. It’s probably also very different for someone already familiar with the OSR scene to parse versus myself coming up on 5e.
The main thing though that I find frustrating that is a genuine talent of the 5e writing and design team even if other games do it better, is the lack of “rhyme”. I bet there’s a better word for it, but when design decisions across the game rhyme, it makes it easier to fill in gaps or make rulings on the spot. Things like Proficiency Bonus per Day, subclasses at level 3, AOEs coming in a general subset of sizes and shapes. You don’t want total homogeny but some idea of the general rhyme scheme of game makes it easier to navigate. WWN has some of this...but it also often doesn’t. Trying to rule of the spot can be so tricky, and often I think rules have been left unwritten because of a desire to “rule it as you would real life”. But in real life I can’t see the future or read minds so it gets a little tough to adjucate situations. It doesn’t help my players are incredibly clever.
The other thing that’s definitely become noticeable is that I think, in general, I prefer more niche protection in the form of exclusive mid power abilities scattered across classes than a few very powerful ones. This is still cooking, I may change my mind, but I find myself missing what felt like mechanical diversity in 5e - which is not something 5e often gets praised for.
I’m going to keep eyes on it though. I will probably include more narrative details in future as we go but for now this campaign is mostly to evaluate the system :)

Rating my US fast food experience on a scale of 1-10. I didn’t grow up here, so over the last 6 months I decided to try some fast food and this is my honest opinion.
Chick Fil A - A solid 8.6/10 but maybe I was a bit biased in rating this cause it was the first meal I had after a 16hr flight. 100 % would recommend.
Whataburger - Disgusting. I give this a 2/10. I had like the chicken strips but maybe I ordered wrong. I’m willing to give it another shot. Just lemme know what to order next time. Update I had the chilli fries and I think I've reduced the rating to 1.8/10.
Popeyes - The fries were GIVING, best fries so far but the fried chicken was not giving, too oily and not cooked all the way through. That shit gave me a running tummy and for this reason I will give it 3.11/10. An update I had the fries and chicken again and it was quite good so it’s getting an upgrade to 5/10 but for Popeyes it depends on the day its either a hit or a miss theres no in between.
Raising Canes - Very mid and it deserves a mid score of 5.1/10 not great and not bad either. I’ll say the canes sauces are great tho.
Wings Stop - look this meal does not DIGEST. I was burping this thing the ENTIRE day. It doesn't taste bad by any means. But lord knows what they are using to cook these wings. I’ll give it a 6.3/10 for taste but never again. Won’t ever catch me there.
Kroger - look technically this isn’t a fast-food restaurant chain or whatever but the bakery goes HARD. The new york style cheese cake is 100/10.
Weinerschnitzel - I generally love hotdogs more than burgers, pizzas etc. so I might be slightly biased in this rating but it was pretty good. A solid solid 6/10
Rusty Tacos - Guys I am not joking when I say this is the one of the best things I have eaten in so far. The Baja shrimp tacos and steak fajita is to die for. Plus the chips and queso sauce is gonna be a problem for me cause it’s just that good they are getting a 7.5/10
Golden Chick - I’ll give golden chick a solid 8.4/10. The FRIES!!!!! So fresh and crisp and cooked with love. I was not a fan of the Golden chick sauce, can't place my finger on it but there's too much of something in there that makes you feel a bit ill. Even the chicken was crisp and fresh it was a good meal.
Hawaiian Bros -6.2/10 I actually have nothing bad about my experience eating here but there’s also nothing outstanding about it either. To make it more difficult, its also not mid. Very difficult to place them.
Snooze - Is this even fast food? People were raving about it online and I decided to try it out. Yuck …0.75/10. The. Food. Is. BLAND. Honestly was considering a 0 but the server who attended to me was what saved it.
KFC - Now I've had KFC from all around the world. This is the one fast food chain I am very familiar with. I’ll give the KFC in texas an average score of 5.1/10. Dont get me wrong the chicken is great but the fries kinda taste like they fried it in stale oil and the chicken size are questionable (there’s no chicken out there that should be that huge, maybe they are baby Ostriches…) . Do better kfc.

CHAPTER ONE;~FIRST KISS FIRST MEETING.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There was an unexpected weather change in the city of Paris,it began with a slight drizzle before
switching to an unexpected heavy rainfall which caught everyone off guard.
Jenny panicked, looking for a shade to avoid catching a flu as she was soaked all over.
She had ressed simple on that day,just wanting to take a peaceful stroll around the city of paris
before the rain ruined her plans.
Finally finding a shade near a restaurant,she hurriedly walked towards it ,wrapping her hands
around her body.
"Fuck!!'m all wet." She muttered as she brought her long black hair to the sides,squeezing the
water out of it.
"Why.....why did it have to rain now." She said shivering as she wrapped her hands around her
body.
At that moment, a tall lean guy approached were she had stood shivering like a sick bunny.
"Hey."'he greeted
She just smiled politely as a response as she tried to keep herself warm.
" here ,you can use my jacket."he offered as he noticed her shivering
"Uhmmm...no thanks." She said giving him some space as he stood too close beside her.
"Its okay if you don't want to take it,l was just trying to help."He stared at her for a moment.
" am i making you uncomfortable. "He calmly asked.
" I'm sorry for my..
....enny said trying to keep herself warm
"No...no need to apologize." He hurriedly said.
"Let's go inside the restaurant, it would keep you warm. Rather than battling with cold." He
suggested.
He was a dressed in black,he was tall and handsome more like a demi god with symmetricalfacial features and broad shoulders.
On entering the restaurant,the at across each other on in a table.
Jenny kept her eyes on him,studying his every feature and his moves.
"I never asked for name." She said.
"Royale" He simply replied as he called the waiter and ordered coffee.
"How about you?" He turned his attention back to her again.
"Uhmmm...." She hesitated.
"My name is jenny." She slowly said with a shy smile.
He smiled back after noticing her adorable behavior.
After a while at the restaurant, the heavy rain reduced to a little drizzle.
"The rain reduced." Royale said as he smiled at her.
While at the restaurant, they had kept each other busy with their conversations.
"Ohhhh...... can finally go home." Jenny excitedly said.
Royale immediately stared at his phone screen."its 1Opm."he said.
"What!!1 0 pm!!" Jenny exclaimed as she stared at the busy city outside through the transparent
window.
"Do not let Paris deceive you." he joked
..where do you stay.??l can drop you off." He offered.
"Its not too far...I would have rejected the offer,but the thing is I'm too scared to walk there
alone by this time." She said as she fidgeted with the hem of her clothes.
"Okay then....good enough you just got yourself a knight in shinning armour." He said as he
immediately stood up and picked up his jacket.
"Where is the shinning armour..... Who is the knight." She fondly said.
"All I see is a guy with a flat chest,dressed in black." She continued.
"What!" Royale exclaimed.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
After they left the restaurant, Royale drove jenny home.
"Thank you for the ride" Jenny said as she was about to open the car door but royale immediately
locked it.
"Are you just gonna leave."'he asked as he intently stared at her.
" uhmmm.
.was there anything else I was supposed to do asides appreciation. "She frowned.
" well. ..this is France....there is another way to show appreciation asides just a simple thank
you. "He smiled.
Slowly, he leaned towards her, his lips almost brushing against hers.
He stared deeply into her eyes, while jenny only sat there numb as she couldn't move a muscle.
" you are beautiful, do you know that?? "He whispered as he brought his lips to her ear,his slow and steady breath fanned her neck.
Jenny tried to move and as if he knew her next move he pinned her hands to the sides of the chair ,then slowly he captured her lips kissing her with a slow pace.
He savoured the taste of her lips as he nibbled on her lower lip and upper lip,kissing. her romantically, as he left her hands and used his thumb to caress her lower lip,slowly and gently.
After a while of the sweetness, he broke the kiss as he stared at her with his eyes carefully studying her every expression.
Jenny did nothing but gulped down as she nervously returned the stare.
The gazed into each others eyes, as jenny's breath was unstable.
After the long gaze,jenny immediately tried opening the car door.
Royale got the message and unlocked the door as he watched her run into the house like a high
school teenager who just kissed her crush.
"Jenny." He whispered to himself. With a mysterious smile he started the car and drove away.
Centurion Najmul acknowledges Hridoy's positive bat
Bangladesh's top left-handed batsman Najmul Hossain has said Towhid Hridoy's batsmanship was a huge help in their thrilling three-wicket victory against Ireland during the second one-day international at Chelmsford this the 12th of May (May 12.). Najmul hit his first ODI century as the hosts took on an ODI target of 320 to gain a 1-0 advantage over Ireland following the game that was canceled due to rain.
Najmul and Towhid also added 131 more runs to the fourth wicket over 17 overs to set the basis for winning. Towhid was in the middle of his innings, Towhid attacked the opposing bowlers to force them under pressure to score a 58-ball score that included three sixes and five fours.
After one wicket down among Bangladesh cricketers, the smarter batter, Hridoy, came on the ground to show his technique of making the highest runs in the limitation. However, he contributed 68 runs to the team while playing with his co-player, Najmul. I was amazed to play with Towhid Hridoy, as I got surprised by seeing his methodology performance in the 50-over match, says Najmul to the press after the end of the cricket competition on Friday.
During the ODI match, the two-star players of the Bangladesh team, Najmul Hossain Shanto, and Towhid Hridoy Bats, exceptionally dominated the game against Ireland on May 12. The moment in which we batted together was very precious. We participated in the BPL series as well, and I do enjoy batting along with him in the cricket league. If he continues playing like this, then our team will always chase amazing victories in future cricket competitions.
In his first interview about his 100th birthday, Najmul said he would be happier if not stayed until the very end. "I wasn't thinking about getting a hundred. I was just watching the ball and play, and I am confident that if I bat well, I will be able to achieve 100. I'm very pleased since this was the first time I've scored a hundred in one day and how I wanted to bat, I did it. However, I was thinking that had I have been able to complete the match, it would have been happier for me.
"Certainly (they deserve thanks). I am thankful to the selectors and the staff members of our team who gave me an opportunity to play in the further games that helped us win the competition. It is such a big thing for me to play in the biggest competition and create good scores in it. And I do want to continue to play a lot of games for my side, says Najmul.
Bangladesh did have luck on their side, As Mushfiqur Rahim fought off a tight appeal for a run-out, and in the last over, pacer Mark Adair bowled two dot balls before delivering an all-round toss, which the veteran batter hit straight at the fielder near the boundary. However, it was declared a no-ball due to being more than waist-high. The result was that Bangladesh with four out of four balls. Rahim hit a scoop on the head of the 'keeper to help Bangladesh beat the opposition with just three balls left.
Najmul said he was happy that Bangladesh could capitalize on their luck. "Certainly you need luck and that luck favored us - like the no ball and the runout. No matter what you say luck is important, and we had it today and capitalised on it."
The No.3 also stood up for the bowlers in spite of Bangladesh losing 319 runs in the game, which was reduced by 45 runs. "I don't think they bowled badly because out of 45 over we perhaps leaked big runs in six to seven overs and that is what the coach was mentioning in the dressing room. But apart from that we bowled well in 39 overs. The batsman who scored a hundred (Harry Tector) really batted well."
It’s 10 Sept 2023. It’s ridiculous that I write 10 7th for 10 9th, but then we regularly change counts, either by starting at different counts or by inserting counts, like July and August. The reason we can do that, which of course then becomes the reason why we do stuff like this, is I//I, the interaction of Irreducibles. The simplest definition of Irreducible may be that they are the Ends of a 1-0Segment and are thus Irreducible over a midline drawn by a 3rd (and 4th, etc.) End in Triangular. The midline’s importance is that it acts as a slider over which the 1-0//0-1 identity shifts and locates. I had trouble writing that sentence for 2 reasons. One is whether slider is singular or plural and the other is I really don’t have a good, fluent translation to finish the phares the over which the I//I <blank> changes. I sometimes just put I//I, but then I feel the need to specify which, because there are non-specific and specific forms. This gets back to the concept of holes.
Let’s see where that goes. Say we have a great big Triangular over gs, so a big n*root2. That’s still an Alternation, so at the minimum we know we have a great big hole defined by all those root5’s of 2:1 Alternation. This feels very interesting, like there’s a lot of depth here. I//I over any pairing: obviously true. Now that’s around a hole or, rather, a series of holes, some of which may fit better than others, but all of which are available.
What about non-integer Alternation? If I want to get to a 3Square, then the hypotenuse has to equal root3. The sides are squares that add up to 3, whatever they are. They can be root1.5 if you Halve. In other words, the existence of the 3Square connects to any number of irrational roots, and that means they can be closely located by rationals, which are generated by Alternation. Another approach would be to say that Alternation occurs in layers, which generates sequences that converge. These are Cauchy sequences. So, we’re dead on center here.
Say I want a 6Square. The hypotenuse has to equal root6, which means the sides must be squares that total 6, like 3 and 3 or any other combination. I don’t know why this simple material is absorbing me so much. What am I seeing? What does this have to do with holes?
I think I just got it, though I doubt it will come out all at once. The idea is that we just saw how a bunch of things can connect, so therefore they may connect, and that builds Pathways which take on meaning that then recurs through many levels until, for example, it becomes Storylines. This appears to be a way into non-Abelian groups, but I’m seeing I//I as the process by which pairing translates - and I just caught a strong whiff of the answer to the work done in this morning’s session - which is almost like stepping stones of Ends, exactly the way we worked out how a fantasy dehumanizes, how it turns personal character into type and then into pairings within the type.
I need to go out. This is extremely difficult work for me. It deals with the way threads age, how they End but not where you wanted but rather where they wanted because the distance from you to the thread meant it had become part of another Boundary - or at least that potential had appeared and had happened to some degree - exactly in the switching mechanism you can see in Hexagonal. So there’s a voice that wants to cut off a thread, one that says it’s wrong, etc. because these pairings must occur. By pairing here, I mean the orthogonals in gs at the least, those being the reduction from higher D-structure into gs, so there must be those additional voices, and they must seek to terminate because their role to reduce, like sK to zK in ++.
Forgot to say above - typed and deleted it - that it’s easy to see how these objects can connect. Like a root of some n plus a 1Square is then that nSquare connecting to that 1Square as well, just with a slightly different operation.
————————
It’s such a strange thing, isn’t it? I mean: in order to do my work, to analyze abstract structures, I need to construct a version of you. And not just a version, but one that gets more ideal the more I understand the math. And at each step and stage, I ask myself how this image differs from reality. I can take that as a parity check, meaning the invocation of the Not or SBE2 count, but what exactly does that mean? I’m looking for faults, either in the negative image or the positive. That sets up a 36-28-36 version of CM100. That is, I think I just saw this over a pairing. Which edges? I’m thinking 0-1-0 so to the inner edges of the hole, and that hole contracts to a point on the szK, to a location (and multiple mappings or locations).
So just thinking about just thinking about you, and thinking that maybe you are not just you but the you you, and I get deeper into this.
I know this isn’t clear, but I’m tired and that was literally the way my thoughts associated into a line, which is another part of the issue, isn’t it? I mean, this indicates that each of those thoughts has a location which draws not only on the zK but on the sK, meaning it lays out on both orthogonals. Makes complete sense. That really is inherent in Triangular.
This stuff was impenetrable not long ago.
My Top Posts in 2022:
Did you mean my only original post this year, tumblr?
So I was sitting and thinking about the weird things we do and don’t consider child appropriate. And I was also wondering if I ever read anything as weird as Animorphs apparently was and yeah actually I think I did.
Do y’all remember “The Guardians of Ga’Hoole” by Kathryn Lasky? Those random owl books that were apparently popular enough to make into a movie? I read all 16 of those and they got wild. Spoilers btw
The series starts with our protagonist, Soren, who is a baby. He wants to practice flying, his parents tell him he’s still too young he doesn’t have the right feathers yet. They leave to go hunting and Soren sits at the edge of the nest, fantasizing, thinking about trying it anyway, before he decides he slips and falls to the ground. So he tries to hide and wait for his parents to come save him, but he gets kidnapped by a group of owls called St, Aggie’s Orphanage. Who take children and brainwash them. These kids are forced to be active and doing stuff during they day (they are owls) and then at night instead of sleeping their forced to march in circles in a special chamber until they get “moon sickness” Eventually, Soren and three other kids teach themselves how to fly and escape searching legendary Guardians of Ga’Hoole to help them take down the evil orphanage. And that’s literally just the first book.
speedrunning the rest of the books, Soren is reunited with his old house keeper, a blind snake named Mrs. Plithiver, who tells him his parents have been murdered by an owl eugenics cult and his older brother and younger sister are missing. I am not kidding when I say eugenics. They were called The Pure Ones. They had an entire cast system built around around the tyto owl genus, with barn owls being the most “pure” and every other speices being increasingly dehumanized (deowlfied?) and if you weren’t tyoto at all you basically had to die, So any way, Soren finds he didn’t fall, he was push by his brother as an intiatian into the pure ones and rises through the ranks to become their leader. The pure ones and the orphanage decide to team up, the Ga’hoole go undercover, and in book six both organizations are basically reduced to nothing. Also somewhere in there there is something about iron filament putting off enough magnetism to mess with how their brains work in it’s very not good. But finally Soren gets to retire to be a dad.
Book seven we get a new protagonist. Coryn, the kid who was being groomed to be the heir of the now defunct eugenics cult. Despite them being basically nothing anymore his Mom is still raising him like the pure one can make a come back (think Kovu from the lion king 2). But something happens that Coryn decides that this is not for him, and he runs away to find out what the world is actually like. Okay, so these next bits I had to read the wiki to figure out. Coryn has the ability to see the future when staring into fire, he decides he needs to catch a special kind of coal from an active volcano, which he does, and then he takes it to Ga’Hoole to become their king. Also he kills his mom by shoving her into the path of a rabid wolf. There’s a lot happening their the the wiki is not jogging my memory enough to put any of that into context.
books 9-11 are a prequal arc about how coal catching became a thing, the developemnt of back smithing in owl society (those two things have been happening the entire i just haven’t felt the need to bring them up) and how Ga’Hoole was founded to fight Hagsfied, magic demon owl/crow hybrids. And some worldbuilding on how dire wolf society works, That has also been in the background the entire time. Note sure when it was introduced but was really important in Coryn’s section I guess
Back into the present Coryn and the original four owls we followed go looking for a magic book used by an Arch-hagsfied, Meanwhile back at Ga’Hoole, owls start worshiping the special ember Coryn caught like it’s a golden calf. They make up increasingly elaborate rituals and they built a prison overnight for anyone who is blasphemous towards it. The Band + Coryn come home, are horrified tear everything down and the special coal is thrown into a pile of less cool coals but nobody seems to beable to tell the difference and grab it out.
Book 13 a secret owl kingdom is discovered. The band, Coryn, and another owl named Otulissa are guided there for a visit by a blue owl called “The Striga”. Turns out all of the owls there are blue, but some of them have weird long feathers and can’t fly without the assistance of kites. The last remnants of the pure ones apparently stalked our protags to the new kingdom. Striga kills one of them which is a big no no, so he gets banished and our heroes take him home with them.
Ah, from there on out things become very, there is “no war in Ba Sing Se” As Striga gains influence over Coryn. The Band is banished and mass book burning are instituted. The Band tries to figure out how to fix this and discover the hagsfied are not gone, Striga is one of them. And the blue owls from the secret kingdom lived very specific lifestyles to keep the hags from remembering there were evil. It’s why to no bloodshed rule was important, it maybe woke his magic? IDK the wiki is really bad for this book, some of these discoveries were maybe made in the previuos one? And the next book in the wiki is hyper detailed and I tl:dr-ed it because it’s 1am.
Anyway, anything that comes from the secret kingdom is bad new. Coryn’s mother is actually not dead and teams up with them. I guess there’s another war. The Ga’Hoole recruit a bunch of other species to help them fight the combined forces of the hag owls and the pure ones, and some where in that Coryn drops the sacred ember back into the volcano they got he it from.
And the last book is a prequel about Ezylryb. A famous in universe blacksmith.
This post was not supposed to be this long. It was supposed to be a"wow adults let me read a 16 book war series about way eugenics is bad actually and it wasn’t considered to dark for children?” But I ended up summarizing the whole series ‘cause it’s even weirder than I remember. And now this post is too long and I don’t want to get started on the spin-off series “Wolves of the Beyond” which is a six book series about why ableism is bad actually. Wolf society in these books is very ableist even in the owl-centric books it comes up decently often.
So yeah, this was one of my favorite series when I was kid and I think I started reading them when I was seven. I eagerly awaited the next book coming out and I legitimately don’t think my Mom ever checked what they were about. They were just the owl books I liked.
