Blackout seesaw mv has made me insane for many reasons but

^ THIS SCENE in particular is what's getting me the most. As far as I know, the only other mv to include this feather effect is the living on the edge mv (and surprisingly enough not the tsubasa moratorium mv.)

So I went through the mv again and the image above is the best I could find that could match the blackout seesaw screenshot.

And it's like. Aira feels so much more confident in the first screenshot.. he's closer to the camera, there's less feathers, the rest of alkaloid isnt in the shot, and even his pose just feels more like he's facing the crowd head-on.

Oughf. He and the other members have grown sosoososo much and blackout seesaw makes me very emotional. Or something.

first of all i want to say that all that budget fr went to the quality of the mv like damn??? and i heard that theyre making an animation MVs series so we’ll be expecting more of such MVs like this in the future (MANIFESTING ALKALOID ANIMATION MVS PLS HAPPYELE)

ok but continuing on

i knew some of the context of past fine thanks to the anime, but i was unprepared at how clear they show tsumugi’s frown at the start. but then they have him smile for the performance and UGH the change in expression is so good but pAINFUL

this exchange piqued my interest but i didnt know what the details were exactly until i finished the whole mv and rewatched it again. 

the somewhat bittersweet/sad expression on tsumugi’s face as he looked towards eichi. then immediately followed by eichi’s look of surprise as tsumugi turns to continue singing. now my thoughts were all over the place so i actually went and search for the lyrics video of Genuine Revelation on youtube to find the english translation 

and apparently, this was the line they were singing; “The stars that can no longer shine will be annihilated”. Thankyou Nasumi Violet for their video (link sends straight to where they sing this line)

my brain is small for this i feel like this has an underlying meaning because of the contract and because this is their last performance but i feel like im reaching 

the next part that interested me was eichi’s surprised expression, and i was thinking to myself, why’s the man surprised?

his eyes were kept on tsumugi’s in confusion/curiosity(???) so whAT’s happening why is this here happy ele whAT ARE YOU COOKING

so i decided to look at the other mv and went to the part where they sing the same line. you know just out of curiosity its not like they have the same movements or anyth-

oh. no wonder eichi’s surprised

obviously im not expecting them to do the same choreography because their stage is different here, but this action of having their hands reached out like that is definitely something they planned beforehand. so for tsumugi to not reach his hand out the same time eichi does, maybe eichi does have a reason to be a bit surprised. not enough to disturb the performance, but enough to be taken aback

makes it a bit interesting, however, that their duo line lasts for four bars, and their hands reaching out like that only comes on the second bar. However, tsumugi reached out for eichi on the first bar. a whole, 4 count bar before eichi does it (that is to say, the one in the animation mv, eichi’s hand reaching out was delayed slightly compared to the game mv but its basically the same thing)

its one thing to have their choreography be like that, camera angles and everything. but its another thing if eichi tenshouin is SURPRISED mid performance and thEY MADE THAT VERY CLEAR 

i also noticed, at least for the game mv, that this was the only time tsumugi and eichi interacted onstage. the other 89% of the time, the two were apart with hiyori and nagisa between them, as if deliberately keeping them separate

so for tsumugi to not even have his hand out the same time eichi does, where its the ONLY time for them to interact onstage, on their LAST performance together makes it oh so painful 

ignoring technicalities aside, its also like tsumugi cant bear to look at eichi for long. and eichi’s surprised expresssion while he reached out to tsumugi, who’s turned away from him, its like he’s watching someone slip away from his fingers, the consequences of his actions catching up to him and he’s not even realizing it

anyway they did amazing i cant wait for eccentric party night <3333

i found a half-shaded version of my old dramaturgy animation in my high school files, so i decided to finish it off because i was actually super proud of how it turned out at the time (given i'm not really an animator lol)!

i do regret i didn't go with the darker background, but ah well

Haruto: Hello, Haku-chan.

Haku: Good afternoon.

Haruto: Are you finally willing to tell me your motive?

Haku: I already told you. It was to protect my brother.

Haruto: Tell me the full thing. Was he being abused?

Haku: Yes.

Haruto: Can you elaborate on that.

Haku: ...His teacher was really strict and would even beat him for playing wrong. He cried about it to me a lot.

Haruto: Is that allowed? Did you guys report to the school?

Haku: They didn't take the matter very seriously. I think a few other teachers were doing it too.

Haruto: That's horrible. But did you have to murder the guy? Wouldn't switching to another school make more sense?

Haku: Yes, but Kurosaki didn't want to transfer.

Haruto: Why not?

Haku: He wanted to quit music entirely.

Haruto: Ehhh...

Haku: I couldn't let that happen just because he didn't like his teacher! I had to do something.

Haruto: Wait, what?

Haku: Its not that he doesn't like the violin anymore, his teacher was holding him back by not teaching him well. The school we got into was the best of the best, we couldn't just transfer! So...I had to remove the teacher. Then everything will go as planned.

Haruto: Planned?

Haku: We're going to be the best piano-violin duo in the world. That's the promise we made when we were younger.

Haruto: I still don't understand where murder became necessary.

Haku: After I kill Kurosaki's teacher, they'd have to replace him with someone else. Hopefully one that doesn't beat their students.

Haruto: ...And you don't see anything wrong with your reasoning?

Haku: I suppose many people would disagree with the way I handled things, but I don't think there's a problem with what I did.

Haruto: Well, maybe your brother wanted to try something else.

Haku: That's nonsense. He loves the violin.

Haruto: Really? There's a chance he would have-

Haku: I won't entertain that thought. Music is the only path for him.

Haruto: ...Do you hear yourself? You'd rather kill a music teacher than let your brother try something else for a career.

Haku: Don't make it seem like I'm unreasonable. I gave that teacher a warning. I personally went to his house to tell him to either go easy on Kurosaki or stop teaching altogether.

Haruto: And he refused?

Haku: Of course he did. He wasn't even listening properly.

Haruto: Wow. You sure are...something.

[Bell rings, mechanical sounds in the back.]

Haruto: Did he put up a fight while you tried to murder him?

Haku: I caught him by surprise. He couldn't do much.

Haruto: Maybe being a serial killer is your true calling.

Haku: I'm only interested in music for a career.

Haruto: ...Prisoner 005, sing your sins!

[MV description - That's all]

The MV starts with two babies lying in a crib together, swaddled in blankets. The camera slowly zooms in.

"Ah, its you again. Have you come for the final act? The curtains are about to close. Cheers to our encore."

Then it cuts to a teenage Haku playing the piano and Kurosaki the violin on stage. The audience, rows and rows of faceless people, watch in awe. Kurosaki plays with a smile. Haku stares blankly ahead, as if playing from muscle memory alone. His eyes flash green.

"From the start, its always been us two. A piano and a violin, the best duet in the world."

A younger Haku and Kurosaki walk along a blank white space, hand in hand. Pictures of them together flash across the screen. The beach. Their living room. Acceptance letters to music school.

"From the start, it was decided. The only path for us. Whatever the obstacle, I'll be sure to remove it. Nothing will hold us back. Not even me."

Haku sits by the piano in his living room, practicing the same segment of a piece for the bridge of the song. He keeps messing up. With each mistake, his outline turns more and more green. His shoulders tremble. The green takes over the whole frame.

"You both will make the best duo." A cacophony of voices state, piling over one another.

Haku stares at himself in the bathroom mirror. Its the first time he's seen having eyebags. He lifts a hand and slaps it against the mirror. His expression remains blank, but he stares at his reflection in the mirror with ferocious intensity.

"Its too late to change course now. You're not allowed to do things half-baked. Whatever the obstacle, I'll be sure to remove it."

A picture of Haku hugging a crying Kurosaki on his bed. A crossroads appears in the blank space beneath their feet. Kurosaki starts to walk toward the right path but Haku holds onto his hand, forcing him to stop. Kurosaki parts his mouth in surprise.

"So its over now. An obstacle eliminated. He put up quite the fight and stuck to his beliefs 'til the bitter end. I can respect him for that."

A sequence where two black silhouettes, Haku and the man's, dance around on stage behind a screen. The set seems to be a music room judging by the instruments on stage. Haku kicks the man's shin. The man falls and hits his head on the side of the piano. A sudden piano keysmash interrupts the beat of the song. The man grovels on the floor, crawling away from Haku. Haku picks up the nearby guitar, holding it high above his head. The audiences. Fade to black.

"Its always been, the two of us against the world. You're not allowed to do things half-baked. You understand, don't you? The song is coming to an end. I've said my piece, so. That's all."

A door is opened to reveal Haku standing in the rain, splatters of blood running down his face in diluted streams. He wears a blank expression. The camera cuts to reveal that Kurosaki opened the door, now standing still in shock. Lightning flashes across the sky.

SO not to drag on a convo from last week but I was listening to Stacy’s beautiful monster and apparently ppl???? Don’t like it???? And I THINK beautiful monster follows the same pattern as ready to love concerning mediocre/whatever mvs making fans think a song isn’t good???? Idk if you’ve listened to the song but it’s a wonderful one and I actually really enjoyed it and didn’t realize ppl didn’t like it???? BUT yeah someone was like “it’s the only bad stayc song” and I was like. This is not correct. - dokcheol <3

ok so I'll be the first to admit that i have almost no ability to tell what makes a good mv and what makes a bad mv, i think it's mostly due to indifference since i've never been a big music video person. I had also never seen the beautiful monster mv till right now but honestly i feel like it's not that bad?? Like ready to love I get, even I could tell it's awkward and just like not shot very well?? (Don't get me started on the filter on it WHY ARE WE ASH GREY RN???) but beautiful monster looks normal to me idk. The drawings are cute and the filter isn't THAT annoying. I also don't get why everyone hates that song. Is it the best song I've ever heard? no, but it was fun and completely passable.

Do you have anything in mind with it comes to switch’s new solos? Like what’s the sounds/improvements you want to hear and maybe outfits you’d like to see them wear

oh we're getting new solos ?? i had no idea :o

unless ur just referring to the new albums in general!! in which case i really want the switch climax event to have sora be center and i think itd be super cute if the mv had an RPG motif :'))) but ofc just going for anything along the lines of magic would be suitable too

as for the cd cover art outfits.... hm....... its a bit hard to say!! since aesthetically they tend to lean more athletic/electric if that makes sense ?? if we're going based off their unit outfits and their last album collection cover, but ohhhhhhh i have such a strong bias for cute magical things i just want their cover and outfits to be full of childlike whimsy..... realistically itd probably be something cool/boy-ish lenient but GODDDDDDD i just want them to be CUTE AND SILLY SO BADDDDDDDD

AND NOW SOLOS/SOUND UHHHH. again i genuinely have no clue if ur implying we're getting new character solos bc i couldnt find it when i checked the ra*bits track list but i could just be stupid (likely) but if we're under the assumption that they are i genuinely have no idea. the solos tend to highlight the aspect of that character happyele expects to sell in a way. focusing on their quirks/gimmicks/what have u, and i think their first solos did a good job with that..... but it would be very nice to see them have more personal songs. need those mfs to vent their hearts out in the recording room. i dont really have any requests for sounds though i love the way their music sounds!!! and i love when they experiment with new sounds like in brilliant smile!!! i trust the producers that make switch music with my life. and also i cant ask them to use sounds aligned with my fav music genres because its heavy metal and what i can best describe as Haunting music. THEY SHOULD DO WALTZ NEXT
