the way that karkat has never once had to do the "are we still friends" thing with eridan because eridan literally cant shut up about how funny he thinks karkat is and how much he wants to hang out with him, even when karkat is yelling genuine death threats at him

& the way karkat has a major problem with seeing past/future versions of people as separate entities, but outright calls past, future, and current eridan "the same [eridan]" because he subconsciously considers eridan a constant

& the way that eridan implies that karkat making death threats to him is what their regular banter looks like, meaning karkat - despite being a cull-on-sight mutant, and eridan being a murderous genocidal sea dweller - has always felt safe enough around eridan to threaten him with bodily harm

Guess what

I got a fever the other day and while bored in bed I made another AU (this is a short thing i won’t make an mspfa about it)

An AU where the four CSAU seadweelers are mermaids

And the premise it’s basically, Feferi and Fefeta are siblings (they love eachother) and so are Eridan and Erisol. (they get along fine)  Mermaids are suposed to be something from violet to fuccia in color (fefeta’s color is normal here). But Erisol is basically the mutant here and his bright green color makes him too easy to spot. which makes the other mermaids not like him, because he can lead predadors and hunters to the rest of the mermaid population under the sea. (his friends have grown used to surround him when in danger to make him stand out less since they were kids)

the four of them grew up together. Feferi and Fefeta held the tittle of heiress still and Erisol and Eridan were sort of like princes too. As kids they tried to make Erisol feel like a normal merkid

Eventually Eridan and Feferi got into an arranged marriage by their ancestors, they never considered Erisol an option due tu his blood (fefeta is considered to have a normal blood, while her sister manifested royal blood, she is still a heiress, she is just a little less special in the eyes of royals)

Erisol grows older and feels more and more like an outcast. he grows apart from his brother and friends

Eventually Erisol and Eridan fight. They both have feelings for feferi. Erisol calls out how eridan has become a big jerk. Eridan tells him to fuck off and probably mentions his mutant condition as the reason he’s not the one engaged to feferi

Erisol disregarding his safety swims to the surface to be alone for a while, where no one will bother him

He happens to be spoted a by hunters, they roam around looking for mermaids who get too close to the surface and sell their tails in the black market

Mermaid tails are most likely used for medicine, beauty products and also rich people cook them as a rare dish.

Erisol being a mutant means the hunters hit the jackpot. Mindfang could sell him for a shit ton of money

They put him in a big barrel cage belowdecks and head to the next port. They assign one of the lower workers on the ship to feed him twice a day.  He happens to be Arquius, who’s been on the ship for a while

They don’t get along at first

Arquius limits himself to just giving him food, but can’t help talking to him when doing it. Erisol just whatches him in silent at first

As days go by they Erisol starts letting his anger out on him and Arquius just endures it, yelling back

over time they began arguing more often and over longer periods of time

The arguing tuned into conversations

And the conversations turned into pleasant chatting they would try to make last as long as they could.

Turns out Arquius is also mutant in the troll hemospectrum. He’s in the ship working his ass of in exchange for not being turned over to the authorities for culling. Traveling form place to place keeps him sorta safe, but they hold his life over his head every time they need to

They day before they were meant to reach the port, Arquius had already made up his mind. He might be stuck in the ship but he could still free his friend

But he wasn’t smart enough and got caught pretty easily. He got stabed and left to bleed by the Capitan Mindfang.

Suddenly the ship begins to shake and get engulfed by a giant moster. It’s Feferi’s lusus. Erisol’s friends are here to rescue him after several days of looking for the ship

The ship breaks and sink. The barrel is broken and Erisol is free

His brother and friend come get him but he doesn’t want to leave his dying new  friend

And Erisol as a last reasurce uses the majyykal power all mermaids have.

The four of them get out of the now sunken ship

Arquius is no longer a land walker, he’s a merman now. a mutant merman tecnically.

He joins the others and lives a happier life as a merman, becomes fefeta’s moirail, Erisol’s partner. Eridan and Feferi most likely don’t get married in the end.

Arquius no is no longer stuck in a ship and Erisol isn’t the only mutant. they’re just happier and chill in the ocean forever, 

The end

This is like, the typical super basic mermaid AU and a poor  excuse to draw Arqisol but they’re my guilty confort ship so yeah

I’m still working on the epilogue for those wondering, don’t worry :P i just took a break to complete commissions and, you know, get a fever and hallucinate a new AU, the usual

one of the most interesting part of homestuck is that the characters all have their own unique weapons, hobbies and costumes. Can you tell us your favorite examples of weapons, hobbies and outfiits? I'll say mine. I love Dave's snoopy sword, I love that Rose knits and her weapons are also knitting needles and I absolutely love John' Egbert's Wise Guy Slime Suit!

Jade's 3AM in the Morning Dress is the most well known among the Homestuck fans that they draw other characters wearing this. That's how beautiful the outfit is. Dress of Eclectica is also beautiful too.

Jade's guns like Girl's Best Friend and Green Sun Streetsweeper is also badass.

Rose's Huggable Soft Salamancer Plush also should have been another Homestuck merch. It's so cute!

Vriska's outfit for John is also sick. She got good tastes for her man.

Dave's Foam Mutant Smuppet Encased in Amber is hilarious too.

Roxy's dress is also lovely too. Bias me thinks though with that shade of violet, she definitely would be into Eridan and the fishboy would find her hot in that.

you would be too scared to even MENTION your blood color around this man. He is very intense about the hemospectrum, but not as much as Equius. But intense nonetheless.

The only trolls who know about your blood is Karkat, and Kanaya, the probably most understanding trolls you were close to.

Although you're not in a relationship with him, he is quite obvious about his flush-crush. As he is with, literally everything.

You most literally slid over to him, and ate shit. You fell on your face, and got a nose bleed. Once you got up, you realized what had happened and how screwed you were. You quickly covered your nose to hide your hideous blood.

He waddled over to you, attempting to move your stone hands from your face. They didn't budge, since you were horrified of his reaction to your blood. Once he caught on to the fact you were deliberately hiding your nose from him, he god a bit irritated.

he was very weak with that insult. wow. you moved your hands nonetheless, letting him see what your blood color actually was. His eyes widened at the sight, you flinches slightly when he began to speak.

you looked away in shame, not admitting that you actually did think he would care. You then felt his arms wrap around you, and then he moved away.

After he and Equius had split, everyone had assumed he would go back to Dirk and serve as a sort of spirit companion, the hyper-perceptive Shades of the God of Heart. But to that, he had simply responded, “Nah.” He stayed firmly on Equius’s face, and Equius asked him no questions about it.

this fic is so in character. it captures some of my favorite things about this ship, like how obnoxious they are and the very specific ways they click and enable each other. it also has an absolutely fantastic sequel! its short and funny, and always the first rec i drop for this specific ship.

(the second rec i would drop is my own fic, Hold Me (Accountable). its a space au with mechanic!equius and bounty hunter!AR, and i maintain that its hilarious and a must read if you like this ship at all.)

ive said it before, and ill say it again. this is THE eridave fic. this is the one. if you only ever read one (and its not one of mine), it should be this one. i love how dave takes eridan seriously without enabling him, and how easily they both cut through each others bullshit. the handling of eridans character is DELICIOUS, and i literally think about his relationships with the other trolls in this fic all the time. i dont even know how many times ive read this fic but it goes so hard.

this is the quintessential meteor fic. its everything you could ever want in a meteorfic, and deals very heavily with karkat and dave unpacking toxic cultural ideas from their respective planets and coming to a new understanding of who they want to be together. its long, its slowburn, its everything, and the authors put SO much obvious effort and research into getting the voices just right, i still think about and admire it years and years later.

arc doesnt need any publicity from me, bigname that they are, but i gotta say of all of their fics this one is one i still come back to and reread from time to time all these years later. the au is really cool, and the drama is potent. karkat and dave have a very loaded and complicated, vaguely antagonistic relationship that takes time to get resolved, and you dont see that very often in davekat fics!

HOMESTUCK FIC. dont look at how many times ive read this dont worry about it. davespritekat is just better than davekat, okay? im sorry. everything is better w davesprite. if youre a davesprite fan i dont even have to say anything else you already know youve gotta read this, but for people who arent- dude, this fic. its such a poignant snapshot of the awkwardness of teenagerdom, especially as a very traumatized teen, and the interpersonal relationships between characters outside of the main two are just so delightful. the john&dave&davesprite dynamic is one i think about constantly, and me and my friend STILL have running jokes about davesprite co< kanaya, which is perhaps the greatest thing to ever be invented, and we have fully incorporated the phrase "sparkle princess alone time" into our day to day vocabulary. i LOVE the gossip chumps, they are everything to me. underrated friendship.

Although you tried to hide your blood color from Eridan, planning to hide it all your life, but everything did not go according to plan. You were in your hive when you accidentally broke a glass and cut your hand. You were hastily looking for bandages or something else to bandage the wound and didn't hear someone come into your hive. It was Eridan. He came to you without even intending to write to you about it in advance, and he was very surprised when he saw drops of lime blood on the floor and on your hand

Eridan could not find the strength to say something. He saw the panic in your eyes and there was a huge amount of thoughts in his head. Feferi is free of Alternia, of the responsibilities it heaped upon her. 

She’ll never have to kill another lusus to keep her world alive. She’ll never face the daunting task of brokering peace between the two troll races. She’ll never have to be the next Imperious Condescension, and that can’t be anything but a relief. Feferi claimed to be excited about these things - but excitement can feel a lot like fear, and it’s easy to mistake one for the other.

There’s one responsibility she’s not free of, though. Has Feferi consulted with her Sprite yet?

Right now, ships are falling out of the sky, soldiers are collapsing on the surface, and every species the trolls have crushed under their boot are emerging from the ashes, wondering what the hell happened. 

The celebrating probably hasn’t started yet, but it won’t take long. This galaxy has a very interesting future ahead of it.
