I have recently been getting back into TMNT lately and whilst I haven’t caught up with all of the iterations yet, one consistency that I have noticed that keeps fucking me up is that every storyline that depicts the future for the brothers - Donnie always dies.
The Last Ronin comics are a given, considering it’s focused on Mikey’s grief with the death of his whole family - not just Donnie. But this consistency also exists in both RotTMNT and the 2003 iteration.
RotTMNT’s film depicts only Leo and Mikey as the only surviving members of the original family unit - not long before they both pass as well.
Whilst I am not familiar with the 2003 series (plus I don’t want to spoil myself too much), I understand that while Donnie didn’t died in “Same as it Never Was” - the people around still grieve his absence. Him being sent to the future directly caused not only the events of that episode to take place, but the erasure of a future Donnie to begin with; thus leading his brother to believe he died (again, that’s what I am pretty sure is going on).
The only exception to this rule was the 2012 series, and even that is loosely stated. Donnie is the only one to die due to the mutagen bomb. The only reason he was able to survive was due to his mind being connected to Metalhead and even then, he is still technically dead. The Donnie that we watched throughout the series and Donbot are not the same people. Donbot is just Metalhead with a dead teenager’s consciousness uploaded into it.
His survival was due to a lucky alignment of circumstances and despite it, he doesn’t even get to live.

Ok- so i don’t know if you have been asked this before and I apologize if you have and that I’m probably bothering you but-
I just re-watched the like “apocalypse” multi-episode of 2012 and saw chompy and I was wondering if (you’ve seen the episode), what would mutant chompy look like in that like “apocalypse” setting?
Would we stay with Mikey like he does in the show or like go try to find his dad? And what would he look like 🤩
(BTW - love your AU and art <3 please make sure you are drinking water!!)
i accidentally redesigned all of them 🤪
more ideas abt this under the cut
chompy was closest to mikey when the mutagen bomb went off, protects him from the blast (shell gets damaged due to that)
he was unable to find raph, donnie, or leo, so he gets mikey to safety (later returns for ice cream kitty)
since chompy can't get back to space and there's no reason for him to anyways, he just ends up getting huge
stays with mikey/ick because he wants to protect the only family he has left
raph doesn't remember chompy at first
donnie's mind was transferred to metalhead's body, and essentially replaces his son's mind (not his choice, but metalhead's)
the mutagen bomb not only permanently disfigured leo and altered his mind, but also caused her leg injury to act up... amputation 👍

Things I Would Change/Add in TMNT 2012
A rewrite post, but it's a lightning round with quick explanations.
Leo never crushes on Karai, but he does hang out with her because it gives him a sense of freedom and rebellion. When with her he gets a strange feeling, like he already knows her from somewhere. The other Turtles feel the same when they meet her. This feeling turns out is their sibling bond.
Donnie and April are friends to lovers, basically Donnie doesn't start crushing on April until around the end of season 1 and it becomes a slow burn from there. (Edit: Full rewrite is HERE)
Hun would be introduced and established as the leader of the Purple Dragons earlier on. Also Fong would get a little redemption arc.
Leo wears a leg brace for the rest of the series after his fight with Shredder in the season 2 finale. He also has a slash scar across his plastrom.
Irma is not revealed to be Kraang Subprime in disguise, instead she escapes New York with April, Casey and the Turtles, and lives on the farmhouse with them.
Irma and Donnie bond and become good friends (irmatello maybe??)
April and Casey would officially date, but then break up mid season 3 (they stay good friends)
Leo x Casey
Timothy would come back in season 3 as a half mutant like Karai (think of his powers like Sunita from Rottmnt), he'd even continue his ninja training and become an official ninja of the Hamato Clan.
Brainwash Karai never happens, it's replaced with Timothy plots and other mutants trying to get Donnie's retro mutagen.
We would actually get to see how Slash and the others met and became the Mighty Mutanimals (there's actually a comic book covering it so that could've been an ep!!)
Irma and Rook are the same person, Rook went undercover as a human as a way to keep an eye on April and find the Turtles for the Utrom council. That's why she was so noisy about April's "secret friends" in season 2 (Edit: to hear more about this concept, I made a full post on it HERE)
Irma and Rook being the same person leads to Bishop being introduced earlier on as the one who give the Turtles and Mutanimals intel on the Kraang's mutagen bomb plans mid season 3 instead of Kurtzman. Bishop would also indirectly mention and foreshadow the Triceratons and hope the Kraang don't get their attention (planting earlier seeds for the season 4 finale)
Instead of blowing up the Earth with the Black Hole Generator, the Triceratons just to a hostile takeover on Earth, turning it into a prison for in inhabits, with secret plans to blow it up within a year. With the help of Fugitoid, the Turtles, April and Casey escape Earth on a mission to take down the Triceratons. Meanwhile on Earth, Splinter, Slash and Karai form a rebellion to fight against the Triceratons and give their friends time.
Mona and Sal would be in more episodes, specifically after their betrayal, they join the Turtles on their mission as a way to repay them for forgiving them.
Returning to Earth, Mona meets the Mutanimals and she decided to stay on Earth earlier instead in season 5, she also appears in more episodes such as Mutant Gangland and actually showing up in Insecta Trifecta. Her and Splinter also get to bond. (Edit: Full rewrite is HERE)
The burnt scar Karai gets in Broken Foot remains.
Shinigami is revealed to be a villain and a spy Shredder sent to keep an eye on Karai. She betrays Karai in the season 4 finale. (Edit: Cause people keep asking me YES she does get redeemed! Check out my full post on the this rewrite)
Splinter still dies in the season 4 finale, or another way I could do it is he gets badly injured and paralyzed from the waist down, being in a wheelchair for the rest of the series. Either way, Leo would still become the new sensai by the end of season 4.
Shinigami is the one to start the Shredder cult and know how to summon Kavaxas. Tiger Claw is just there for the ride.
Alopex returns to help the Turtles stop her brother.
Tiger Claw redemption??
Baxter Stockman returns as a season 5 villain, he's been using his smarts to turn himself into a cybernetic being, missing his mutant form and wanting to go back. He basically goes mad.
Fugitoid returns, but now works for Dregg and Newtrailzer, being found by Dregg and reprogrammed to think the Turtles are his enemies. Donnie ends up saving him.
Mona Lisa and Sal Commander backstory in When World Collide
Raph gets the electric powers, NOT Mikey
Slash is in When Worlds Collide instead of Karai
April and Casey meet Renet and join her and the Turtles on their Halloween time travel adventure. (Edit: full rewrite HERE)
Usagi becomes a mentor for Leo and helps him overcome his stress and insecurities of being a leader.
Mutant Apocalypse happens (kinda) but Renet gets involved and has present Turtles team up with MA!Turtles to save their futures and rewrite history (cause Renet claims the MA was not supposed to happen) The series and finale episode ends with the present day Turtles winning, saying goodbye to their future selves and wishing them luck in their new future. Renet sends the MA!Turtles to their corrected future. As they go through the timeportal, Leo is demutanted from being a monster, Donnie gets his body back, etc. In their true future, the Turtles find all their friends alive and well in the lair, greeting them as they are about to celebrate their 50th mutation day. Raph and Mona are happily married with kids, Donnie and April are married and he's a famous scientist, Leo is highly respected as a great leader and sensai of the Hamato clan with multiple students (one of them being Mira) and Mikey is a successful restaurant owner. The show ends with them all enjoying a slice of pizza, finally at peace and living out their happily ever after.

Simon and Marcy's relationship through the years
So I finally watched the Stakes miniseries in Adventure Time and I think like I finally understand Marceline and her motivations better, especially regarding Simon.
So seeing the stuff with Marcy's mom from Stakes I think it's pretty clear why she sent Marcy away in the first place.
She didn't want Marcy to see her die. It could be any general post-apocalyptic illness I suppose but with a mutagenic bomb I'm gonna assume it's some sort of radiation poisoning. Marcy is little here, between 5-7 so I don't think she processed why her Mom 'abandoned' her, only the hurt left behind. We see she hadn't really accepted/understood until Distant Land's Obsidian.
So that fear of abandonment translates over to Simon who, also, is forced to leave 'for her safety'. So, objectively, it's about the crown, how he's slowly losing himself and could potentially hurt her. I had asked, right from the start of my AT watch 'why does he keep putting the crown on?' We see in Simon & Marcy, its as a deterrent against the dangers of a post-war world. But Marcy was important to him, surely he could find some other way, I mean look at this
This is not a man eager to leave behind the child in his care. So why did he?
And after watching Marcy's mom succumb to radiation poisoning it hit me. Simon left Marcy for the same reason her mom did: to spare her the pain of watching a parent die. Here are the lyrics from I Remember You
"This magic keeps me alive / but it's making me crazy"
The crown was keeping him alive through the apocalypse, if it wasn't poisoning from the bomb it might have been something else. Marcy, being half demon, was protected but Simon was totally human without the crown's protection. Simon realized he had no choice but to leave her: by dying as a human like her mother or lost to madness of the crown. So he left, to ensure she didn't have to see either one. It was probably the hardest decision he ever made and he felt guilty enough to write Marcy a note. He wrote it on the back of a picture of Marcy so she'd see it but she didn't get to read it until almost a millennia later. But for a thousand years, Marcy harbored resentment towards Simon and later Ice King.
Marcy stated she originally became a vampire hunter to protect the remaining humans, thinking it was an extension of protecting her one time protector. She grieved his loss in her life greatly which turned into bitterness and frustration. Marceline was seemingly abandoned by two close parental figures in her early childhood which -coupled with vampirism and living unchanging for centuries- turned her into apathetic, isolated punk rocker we meet at the start of the series.
We don't know when Marcy and Ice King formally met but we know they didn't have much interaction in the main Adventure Time series until I Remember You. If I were to guess, Marcy probably tried to get through to Simon briefly before giving up and then avoiding him. She probably assumed he left her for the power of the crown, her own hurt clouding the memories of Simon's actions and his words to her.
We know Simon reached out to her multiple times, tracking her down and spending time with her without really knowing why. Marcy, it seemed, did her level best to just avoid him. Until she finds the note Simon left for her.
It doesn't explain everything but it's enough for Marcy to understand the important bits: that Simon did not leave her willingly, that he loved her and seeking forgiveness for his future actions as the Ice King. After this episode, we see Marcy hanging out with Ice King of her own volition and, to the best of my knowledge, she only refers to him as "Simon" from now on.
It's a big step for her, who has clung to this hurt and anger for a long, long time. To look at a man who doesn't remember her and open her heart just a crack to let him through again. I think the note from the past plus the singing in the present gave Marcy a way to bridge this crazy wizard to her old friend. One of my favorite details in the song is we hear Tom Kenny's distinctive dopey Ice King voice throughout it until we get to the last few harmonizing Da Da's. Maybe it's my imagination but the last few tones on his end are softer, more human, closer to the Simon of memory.
Its a reminder to Marcy and to us that Simon was still there.
TLDR: Marcy's mom sent her away so her daughter wouldn't watch her die and Simon chose to do the same since he would have died without the crown. Marcy hung onto this grief for years shaping it into her early AT self. I Remember You gave Marcy closure on assuring Simon's affections for her and why he left. It was also when she finally saw him for the first time in Ice King and began to allow him back into her life which led to him being freed. These two make me so emotional.

ROUND TWO
Propaganda
Read more added due to the length
Anthony Lockwood: (via @its-your-mind)
Simon Petrikov: (via @transgendersimonpetrikov) "...
Simon. Simon is not initially introduced as Simon, rather is introduced as Ice King, an insane and Really out of it "villain". Throughout almost all of the first 3 seasons, you ONLY see him being weird and getting beat up a lot but under all of it is incredibly sad for reasons he can't distinguish aside from crushing loneliness. Until the Christmas special, they pull a COMPLETE 180 on ice kings character and reveal his backstory - and just to shine some light on this, up until this point in the show, Finn is the only CONFIRMED human in the show. All others are assumed to be extinct. Simon's/Ice King's backstory reveals a few things to the main characters and the audience that makes the characters see him in a new, sympathetic light - he was a human antiquarian with a fiancee (named betty) who just so happened to put a cursed crown on his head as a joke to amuse betty. And then boom! He's cursed. Unlike some other, admittedly limited amount of characters, however, after putting on the crown, he does not immediately go insane. It happens over the course of a few years (which in itself implies he has insane amounts of willpower, even still coming through with Ice King given that the crown tells its users to freeze the whole world with themself inside) .
So, he's cursed, and betty supposedly left him, as that's to what he's known. He assumed he scared her and she ran away and doesn't love him anymore, and spends years grieving over that. But in the few years after putting on the crown and before fully losing his mind, he has to take care of a girl after a goddamn war (where the climax is a detonated mutagenic bomb that makes radioactive zombies and shit) that he found crying in the middle of the street. So, if his mental state was already declining BEFORE, it sure as hell is now because he has to wear the cursed crown more and more to protect himself and this girl and the effects of it clearly show every time he puts it on in flashbacks with himself in Clear distress over the effects of it . So after a while he is scared for himself, and, to quote him, "I fear my thoughts are no longer my own". So then he begrudgingly leaves the girl he cared for over the course of several years before he goes fully mad and loses himself. So then aside from some mentioned stuff that happens before his insanity fully sets in (like being hypnotized which surely did not help his already deteriorating mind) and then for a thousand years he's just pretty much Gone.
In season 4 episode 25, "I remember you", he goes to marceline (the girl he cared for, though he doesn't remember that) and asks her to help him write a song to draw in the ladies. I won't go through the whole episode, but the song they end up making is not anything like that - he took over notes and pages from a scrapbook and Marceline found some he wrote before he fully went mad while desperately trying to get him to remember who he was, and they turned the notes into a song. There is a lot of crying from marceline, meanwhile Ice King has zero fucking clue what's going on there and just thinks they're having fun. The entire episode is up on YouTube, and I would recommend watching just to get the idea.
Near the end of season 5, he gets a brief moment of lucidity and return to his former self, and he makes a time portal to say sorry and goodbye to betty, and she jumps through only to discover that without the crown Simon is dying. He says later in the episode that he'd rather Die than go back to being Ice king. She wants to find a way to help him so she gets him turned back into ice king so she can find a way to cure him, with her going insane by gaining magic in the process (by proxy of mms, which is a whole thing itself).
Series finale rolls around, he's finally back, but in a chaos deitys "stomach", which reverted him and betty back to their sane, non magic selves. Their moment is short lived by the "stomach" closing in on them, about to crush them to death. They've seemingly accepted their fates, and embrace before their impending deaths, but they're given a way out, betty staying behind despite his pleas and using the original wish state of the crown to wish Simon safe and thereby fusing with the chaos deity and leaving. The next scene is Simon breaking down and crying where she previously was.
So, 12 years pass between the finale and the spin off, and he's just absolutely tired with everything. Hes a 20th century man frozen in time and thrown into into new world after living 1000 years insane and sad without the love of his life with him and he has to deal with that. He is constantly barraged with people talking about a story he wrote when he was insane, saying that it was great, wishing he'd write more, etc etc. Even saying he was cooler when he was insane. Still grieving betty, he tries to Actually Perform A Ritual That Could Destroy The World just to see her again. It goes wrong and the 2 main characters from the story he wrote while insane pop out of his head. After a bit, he finds out that they're not fiction and instead a universe planted in his head . Their magic was stripped from their world when he was reverted back to himself and since he's wallowing in so much misery he decides to find a way to go Back to being insane and commit the equivalent of suicide and perform ego death once again for people he just met because he felt his life was worth so little that serving any purpose even if detrimental to himself would give himself a meaning to live. Just as he's about to finish this, he finally gets to talk to now-chaos-deity betty, and she gets it in his head that his life is worth living and then sends him off to live his life after an emotional scene of them finally ready to let go of their losses..."

The Science Behind Adventure Time
Hello and welcome to my TED Talk-
@forphysicsandimagination and @brokenmilkcrates this is for you:)
WARNING: THE FOLLOWING IS A NINE PAGE ESSAY ABOUT THE SCIENCE BEHIND THE END OF THE WORLD IN A KID'S CARTOON SHOW, AND CONTAINS DISCUSSIONS OF NUCLEAR FALLOUT, CANCER, RADIATION, AND OTHER HEAVY TOPICS. VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED.
Also, if there's anything I say in this that I'm repeating from someone else(because let's be honest there's probably something), and it bothers you, lmk!
Introduction
Adventure Time is a show that ran from April of 2010 to September of 2018, totaling ten seasons and 283 episodes. It followed Finn the human and Jake the dog, who went on weird adventures and got into trouble. Other major characters featured are Princess Bonnibel Bubblegum, Marceline the Vampire Queen, BMO, and Lady Rainicorn, along with others like Flame Princess, Lumpy Space Princess, and the Ice King. The Ice King was the main antagonist for most of the first season, until the Lich was introduced near the end of season one. Adventure Time is known for its far-fetched, wacky, and odd creatures and characters. But what if I were to tell you that they aren’t as far-fetched as they seem?
Background Information/What We Know
The strange things we see in Adventure Time were caused by the end of the world—also known as the Great Mushroom War(GMW). The GMW was a nuclear war that resulted in the near extinction of humanity, as well as the creation of new races and species, ranging from vampires to hug wolves to mutated coyotes. Not much is known about the war, but we do see bits and pieces of it in flashbacks.
The exact time of all of this is unknown, but it is speculated that it happened in the late twentieth to early twenty-first century. It most likely took place between 1998 and the early 2000s, as sitcoms from the 1980s are referenced by multiple of the surviving human characters, the appearance of a Generation 3 iMac computer in The Lich (which became available to the mass public in 1998), modern smartphones in flashbacks, and internet phrases and expressions frequently used by the characters.
The cause of the end of the world was a nuclear bomb—most likely more than one, as two bombs can seen exploding at opposite ends of the planet in the episode BMO. We also know that the Enchiridion was finished after the war, most likely on August 13th, 2021, going off of the numbers that are on the back of the book.
Part One
During a flashback, Simon is shown looking up at the sky. In the sky, there are more than thirteen planes, which are most likely what was used for dropping the bombs. These planes are probably Boeing B2-9 Superfortress planes, which were used to drop nuclear bombs during World War II. In the episode Finn the Human, we get our first look at the actual bomb, which is nearly identical to the Fat Man bomb that was used in WW2, and was dropped by a Boeing B2-9 Superfortress.
We’re told by Farmworld-Marceline that the bomb was poised to bathe the Earth in mutagenic horror, meaning that it was a mutagenic bomb. Now, you might be thinking, what’s the difference between a mutagenic bomb and a nuclear bomb? Are there any differences? The simple answer is yes.
Nuclear bombs are made to cause mass destruction using the energy released when the nucleus of an atom is split or merged. Mutagenic bombs are bombs that can cause direct DNA damage. However, nuclear bombs can be mutagenic, so Marceline could mean that it was a mutagenic bomb, or a nuclear bomb with mutagenic effects. Going by how much damage it caused, it was probably the latter.
For this study, I’m going to say that the mushroom bomb is the same as a Fat Man bomb, and the fallout happened in 2010 (because, well, that’s realistically the time it probably happened). This bomb was dropped on the Japanese city Nagasaki on August 9th, 1945, and resulted in the deaths of over 70,000 people.
However, I don’t think that the Fat Man(FM) was the only bomb used.
In the intro of every Adventure Time episode, we can see things from the old world—a broken TV, cassette tapes, and, most notably, warheads. Warheads that are different from the mushroom bomb.
So I went digging. I dug even deeper into history and everything we know about nuclear fallouts, and I found it—the first of two nuclear weapons ever used in warfare; the Little Boy.
The Little Boy(LB) was used in the bombing of Hiroshima, another Japanese city, on August 6th, 1945—three days before the FM—and had an explosion force equal to 20,000 tons of TNT. 80,000 people died as a direct result of the bombing, and tens of thousands more died later.
Out of the 120 FMs and the five LBs made, only one of each was used, leaving 119 FMs and four LBs left. There are three warheads in the intro, which means that three of the four remaining LBs were dropped but didn’t detonate.
Scientists have estimated that an all-out nuclear war between the United States and Russia would result in over five billion deaths.
The Great Mushroom War took place in approximately 2010. In 2010, there were around 6.7 billion people on Earth.
The Great Mushroom War almost wiped out the entire human race. See where I’m heading with this?
The Great Mushroom War, a nuclear war, almost caused the extinction of humanity. If roughly five billion people died as a direct result of the fallout, that would leave around one billion people left alive on the entire planet. Due to radiation, food would be destroyed, and temperatures would drastically change, which would cause more deaths. The people we see, the actual humans we see, are very few, because there are very few actual humans still alive.
Part Two
The only characters we see that have five fingers are Marceline, Simon/Ice King, Marceline’s mother, Elise, and the Lich, who were all born before the end of the world. This means that either all of the future generations lost a finger, or these four characters all got an extra finger, both of which are possible.
Oligodactyly is the term for having less than the normal amount of fingers/toes, and is the exact opposite of polydactyly. Oligodactyly is a congenial condition that is often, but not always, a genetically inherited disability, and can also be caused caused by mutations. So, if people born after the fallout all have less than five fingers, it’s very likely that it was caused by exposure to radiation.
Children born after nuclear fallout commonly have polydactyly. However, since Marceline, Simon, Elise, and the Lich were all born before the fallout, this is less likely to be the reason that they’re the only characters with five fingers.
The tribe of people that Marceline meets all have four fingers, which supports my theory on oligodactyly.
“My mom and I didn’t talk about bad stuff. When she got really sick, she didn’t even tell me,” [Distant Lands: Obsidian] Radiation can cause multiple kinds of cancer, the most common being leukemia. While it’s very likely that Elise just had radiation poisoning, I want to mention leukemia as well, because she has some of the symptoms of it as well—irritability, coughing up blood, sleep problems, feeling cold, and excessive sweating. Coughing up blood is the most obvious, as we see her cough blood onto her hand. Feeling cold is based on the fact that she’s wrapped up in a blanket while in the middle of the desert, and depending on what time of the year it is, the temperature could be higher due to radiation. The entire time we see her in Obsidian, she has eyebags(and noticeable ones at that, which means that the animators wanted us to know that she was having trouble sleeping). When she’s trying to fix the motorcycle and tells Marceline to go to teh secret clubhouse, she’s very irritable. Excessive sweating is the biggest stretch, but I added it because she’s sweating a lot of the times she’s on screen.
Skin conditions. Exposure to radiation causes skin conditions.
Ice King is blue, Marceline looks like a walking corpse. See where I’m going with this?
It does seem like Marceline’s skin has always been grey(and it makes sense that it has because Hunson is blue-ish grey), but there is a difference in her skin color between her when she was younger and her when she’s older. Her skin is lighter and more blue. Now, it’s not lighter by that much, but it IS lighter, and it’s not something that you’d notice while watching the show. Radiation doesn’t cause skin to turn blue, but remember that Marceline isn’t fully human—radiation probably affects demons and demon hybrids differently than how it affects humans.
If you look at Simon before and after the fallout, you’ll probably be able to tell the differences. Even before his skin turns blue, it’s definitely lighter than it is in scenes like flashbacks and the tapes Finn and Jake watch in the season three Christmas special. This isn’t the only way he suffers from exposure to radiation, though—he also has several psychological issues that were caused by the fallout. The crown is what makes his mind deteriorate, but constant exposure to radiation definitely doesn’t help, and, if anything, probably made the crown worse.
I would talk about the Lich, but it’s been said that he wasn’t originally human, and it seems like he’s meant to be a kind of primordial being.
Back to Marceline, in the Stakes finale, she says “Smelled something bad.” This is similar to something an actual survivor of nuclear warfare said; “There was a strange smell all over.” You could make the argument that this doesn’t have anything to do with the fallout, but while she was saying this, it showed flashbacks of when she was younger and living in the apocalyptic world.
Part Three
The first species I’m going to talk about are the gums, as they’re some of the most humanoid creatures, but they’re still very supernatural. I talked previously about skin conditions, and that’s what I believed caused the gum people. Radiation can change the texture of your skin, and can make it appear pink, red, tanned, light, or dark. It can’t turn your hair pink, but you want to know what can? Sun exposure, chlorine exposure, chemical reactions, and nutrient deficiencies. Hair can also become squishy due to protein deficiency. Hair that lacks protein can feel mushy, sticky, and gummy, and clumps together. It’s safe to assume that in an apocalypse, nobody is going to be getting all of the nutrients and proteins that they should be.
The mutated coyotes are probably the most realistic creature in the show other than humans. Yellow sclera and red irises are commonly caused by radiation. The mouth on the chest and the extra eyes are less likely to happen, but they are theoretically possible in terms of evolution.
Radiation can also cause abnormal brain development, which means that animals could possibly mutate to be able to do things humans can, like how most of the less humanoid creatures are able to talk, or how that creepy FUCKING deer can STAND ON ITS BACK LEGS LIKE A PERSON (I really don’t like him-).
The oozers are, essentially, zombies, which are scientifically possible. Zombies can’t be caused by radiation, but cells can be changed. There are diseases that cause animals to basically become zombies, and while humans aren’t affected by these diseases, cells can change because of radiation. If the cells change, it could make it possible for humans to catch these viruses.
Conclusion
Now, obviously, this is all just speculation, and a lot of Adventure Time isn’t able to be explained by science, and it was meant to be fantastical. This was made for fun, and I wanted to show how even though it’s clearly a magical world, a lot of it can be explained by science.
Two-headed lizards exist, why can’t any of Adventure Time’s creatures exist? After Chernobyl, cats living in the area went feral, meaning that radiation can change the mental state of an animal. Cows produced radioactive milk. Taking all of this into account, the things in Adventure Time seem a lot less far-fetched.
(Side note: maybe the crown was affected by the radiation, too, and that’s why it caused Simon’s mind to deteriorate-lmk if you'd like me to go more in depth about that as well.)
I'd love to do something like this again if anyone has any ideas:)!

Heroes & Villains The DC Animated Universe - Paper Cut-Out Portraits and Profiles
The Parasite
Rudy Jones was a janitor at S.T.A.R. Labs who had gotten mired in gambling problems. To clear his debt, Jones made a deal with a criminal to steal experimental chemicals from his workplace. The theft went awry and the exotic chemicals were spilled, causing Rudy to become awash in the mutagenic substances.
The chemicals had a strange and unexpected effect on Rudy. It transformed him into a purple-skinned humanoid who could absorb the strength and energies from anyone whom he touched. Doing so bestowed Rudy enhanced powers as well as the knowledge and memories of those whom he ‘fed’ off of. The effects were temporary, his victims would eventually heal and the extra strength and power would wane from Rudy, leaving him desperately hungry for more.
Now known as 'the Parasite,' Rudy sought out stronger and more virile individuals to feed upon. This quickly attracted the attention of Superman who made the mistake of trying to intercede. Once the Parasite touched Superman, he was able to absorb the Man of Steel’s incredible Kryptonian powers (as well as his memories and knowledge of this secret identity). Intoxicated by these powers, the Parasite planned on keeping Superman trapped so that he could regularly feed off of him and maintain his addiction.
Young Jimmy Olson managed to free Superman who then tricked The Parasite into touching a piece of Kryptonite. The Parasite had absorbed not only Superman’s powers, but also his weakness and touching the Kryptonite sent him into vegetative state where he had lost all memory.
Somehow The Parasite managed to revive. He aided Superman and the SCU in defusing a bomb in exchange for improved living conditions in his incarceration. The Parasite was later broken out by Live Wire and the two went on a crime spree. The pair were eventually taken down by Superman and Parasite next showed up as a member of Gorilla Grodd’s Secret Society of Super Villains. He later joined the Legion of Doom and sadly perished when Darkseid destroyed the Legion’s headquarters.
Actors Brion James and Brian George each provided the voice for The Parasite with the villain initially appearing in the sixth episode of the first season of Superman: The Animated Series, ‘Feeding Time.’

Hi and welcome to the "Where did the years go" AU official askblog!
This is an askblog based on my 2012 tmnt AU where it follows the events of the mutant apocalypse episodes but a bit tweeked
Basically
The bros got seperated in a different way
Mikey, raph and donnie got trapped in another dimension while out on patrol (they actually snuck out but shhhh) which let leo alone in the lair
What theey never knew is that time moves way differently from their own universe
So the 6 months they spent trying to go back were years to Leonardo
And during that time period the mutagen bomb ended up going off
Leonardo was under in the lair when it hit, so even tho there was a rubble and few places in the lair got shaken up and a bit of mutagen leaked into the lair
Leo was left unharmed, not mutated into maximus kong
Now he has to live through an apocalypse fighting for his life, albeit not alone, he still has chloe, chompy, ice cream kitty and metalhead on his side
How did chloe survive the mutagen bomb? Why is metalhead sentient, what horrors had they faced in the apocalypse?
You can either check my main and figure it out ig OR send asks over here and unlock back stories as you go
Enjoy

Mortal Recoil Review
The beginning of this episode is delightfully morbid. After last episode’s ending, the title card of the characters looking into a grave is hilarious. We know they aren’t going to kill off Bubblegum, but like what if? The opening scene continues this, with the intensity of rushing Princess Bubblegum into the hospital while the doctors make funny candy puns.
“Mortal Recoil” not only picks up on the cliffhanger from the previous episode, but also continues the character dynamics from it. I can’t blame Finn for refusing to listen to Ice King’s warning about PB. Not only is he rightfully furious at him for his actions in “Mortal Folly”, but since when has Ice King provided anything useful? The princesses give Finn a new backpack, which makes him losing his original one a little pointless. It would have been cool if there was something to differentiate the new one. Finn has his most emotionally honest moment yet as he tells Bubblegum his feelings. It’s growth from his portrayal in “Go With Me”, but after the intensity of last episode, and Finn witnessing PB’s brush with death, it makes sense he’d want to be so honest with her. I think this two-parter intensified Finn’s crush, as we see how intense it is in season three. We don’t know if Princess Bubblegum heard Finn’s confession. I don’t think she did, as “Burning Low” shows she didn’t know just how strong his feelings for her were.
Peppermint Butler feeling The Lich’s presence makes sense, and adds to Pep’s mystique. Jake also notices something is wrong. I like Jake’s song to cheer up PB, but it tortures The Lich. Maybe music is a weakness to The Lich, just as it is to his master, GOLB? The Lich is still super creepy and unsettling in the form of PB. They abandoned The Lich’s original form, but I love how The Lich constantly gets new forms across his appearances. Finn brings Bubblegum a bunch of materials to make a bomb, hilariously assuming its “lady stuff”. I love the idea of Finn interpreting PB’s possession-induced behavior as lady stuff. Nothing to see here, it’s just her time of the month! Jake shows Finn that something is really wrong. I’m glad the episode wasn’t just Jake trying to prove that something is wrong while Finn misses all the signs and thinks Jake is crazy. I like Finn refusing to peep on PB in the bathroom, calling it “pervy”. Truly a gentleman.
The Lich creates a makeshift well of power in the bathtub, producing the mutagenic substance released from the mushroom bomb. He doesn’t have access to residue from the green catalyst comet, so maybe he was able to add his comet essence to it through his green fire. Ice King tells Finn that The Lich is possessing Bubblegum. Unlike earlier, Finn’s dismissal of Ice King isn’t so justified. It’s pretty obvious that Ice King is correct. Ice King’s wizard eyes are first revealed, further explaining why he is so crazy. The comments Ice King makes implying he is only worried about Bonnie’s looks instead of her wellbeing are funny, like not wanting her to be “physically unattractive”. He still thinks he is marrying PB after last episode, referring to her as his “wife” and “future wife”.
Finn tries to save Bubblegum with his sweater, feeling defeated when his feelings for her can’t restore her. The sweater having “like like” power is just in Finn’s head. He is forced to team up with Ice King for the first time, and this is Ice King’s first moment of heroism in the series. Ice King freezes PB and Finn recognizes that he did good.“Mortal Folly” moved past Ice King as the show’s main villain and “Mortal Recoil” causes Finn to stop seeing him as his arch nemesis, although still an enemy. Unfortunately, Princess Bubblegum falls over and breaks into pieces. I love everyone’s reactions, especially Ice King not wanting to be at fault for her death. This episode does such a great job balancing morbidity with comedy.
PB is once again rushed to the hospital. The doctors don’t have enough gum to work with to maintain her current age. She lost a lot of candy biomass that she works to maintain. “Too Young” shows that any candy material can restore her, not just gum. We know why Princess Bubblegum doesn’t immediately go for that, but the doctors must not be aware of the whole process. I guess the whopping love hug wouldn’t be possible while PB is unconscious. The doctors resort to constructing a thirteen year old body for Bonnie. Ice King leaves due to PB’s age. It’s nice to know that Ice King isn’t a pedophile. Unfortunately, this doesn’t remain a consistent trait. He writes a fanfic where the female version of another thirteen year old professes his love for him (and yes, Ice King definitely added that part in, that wasn’t Prismo) and calls Flame Princess “okay” in “I Remember You”. He also previously kidnapped LSP for marriage in “Prisoners of Love”.
Princess Bubblegum, now Finn’s age, hugs him and a new romance blooms. It’s a great status quo change to end the season, raising questions on how this will affect the series dynamics going forward. The episode ends revealing the snail is now possessed by The Lich. Despite the happy ending, this is a way to show that conflict still awaits. The snail will continue to appear in every episode, and now always with green pupils signifying his possession by The Lich. This creates lingering tension in the background for two seasons to come. Princess Bubblegum’s brush with death and possession by the embodiment of evil is a turning point for her character that colors her actions going forward. These events understandably traumatized her.
This was Adventure Time’s first two-parter and it succeeded! Each episode still tells its own story, but elements are carried throughout both parts. This could have worked as the series finale. The four main characters play big parts, Ice King gets a sort of redemption, Finn faces his biggest threat yet and finally becomes the world-saving hero he has dreamed of, and Finn finally gets with Bubblegum. I do wonder if this was written to work as the last episode in case they didn’t get renewed. Would they have even bothered with deaging Bubblegum if they knew they’d get a third season (that’s assuming that they didn’t know)? My guess is they still would have. I’m glad this isn’t the last episode, but it works as a great cap to this era of the series.
Due to Cartoon Network incompetence, “Heat Signature” was aired after and it’s still listed that way on streaming. It was thankfully fixed for the dvd. Still, “Mortal Recoil” is essentially the season finale and was intended as such. It’s the first time the show made sure to have a proper finale, creating a trend for the rest of the show.

Was Dulcy's mutation caused my an accident or on purpose? And when I mean on purpose I mean it like was she thrown in a tub (or what ever it was in that episode where bebop and rocksteady got mutated) of mutagen as a punishment By the Shredder? Or was it all turtles fault?
I talked about this once with @loco-warehouse and I remember I said that Dulcy suffered a mutation because of Britney, but I don't want to involve her in that part (except about the kick joke LOL).
That would be in episode 18 of the third season.
Dulcy would be providing internal services for Shredder.
She had a decent amount of mutagen in the back of her van (all ordered by Shredder).
Throughout the service she would contact TC from time to time just to pass the time.
She had no idea that this whole situation with Karai was happening, so at the end of the episode she would have to face Leonardo by chance.
In her mind, delivering the rest of them was a bonus she wanted to receive, but one wrong move and she was thrown into the back of the van and Leonardo was smart enough to throw a small smoke bomb that shattered the mutagen vials.
She would stay there until TC realized his calls were taking a while, so he tracked her down and found her unconscious due to the poison their bodies were still getting used to.

TMNT (2012) TO ME: Season 1
TMNT to me is a series where I recall my initial memories with the 2012 series and surrounding media. (Or try to at least.)
I remember watching watching the premiere, Rise of the Turtles, at my grandparent's (whom I called Abuelo and Abuela). The two main memories from the episode were disgust at Donnie's reaction to seeing April, and enrapture during the fight against Snakeweed. needless to say, I was hooked.
I have clear memories of Turtle Temper, however i just thought it was merely a good episode. Love Spider Bytez’s design.
I'm a big fan of robots and mechs, so I Think His Name Is Baxter Stockman was very enjoyable for me. However, as a personal gripe, I much preferred the Stockman-Pod Mark 2 (the large mech suit) over the Stockman-Pod Mark 3 (that giant mouser-esque suit). The Stockman-Pod Mark 3 looked to be kinda clunky and lame, especially with Stockman's face in the "nose hole". Still, fun episode that I thoroughly enjoyed, making Baxter Stockman one of my favorite villains.
Donnie was always my favorite turtle, so when his first focus episode, Metalhead, rolled around (involving a robot) i was overjoyed. It was a good episode to, having a nice arc for Donnie, and a cool new threat in Metalhead. I loved it.
I could not say the same about Monkey Brains. I was not a fan of this episode. It was way too Donnie x April focused for me. Donnie is often at his worst when swooning over April, though I do admit the graph of all social interactions was a pretty good joke. The big reason why I wasn't a fan of this episode was because Dr. Rockwell scared. His appearance was unnerving, he was loud, and his erratic movements put me on the edge. I was not a fan of him. I made sure to avoid this episode when it was on.
The Gauntlet is an amazing episode. Now, before we get to the obvious reason why, let's go over some other good points. Pigeon Pete is a fun character. I'm not a fan of his design, but his jokes always land. Mr. O'Neil's sacrifice moment, although expected, was still pretty cool. The fight with Bradford and Xever at the mutagen bomb was epic, and a great sendoff to these versions of the characters. And now, the obvious reason: The Shredder. So far, Shredder had only been talk. It was good talk in all fairness, young me perfectly understood why he was in charge. But, The Gauntlet solidified him not only as a truly dangerous and invincible foe, but also as a worthy candidate as the turtle's greatest enemy. I was on the edge of my seat during the whole "fight". I truly believed Splinter when he said that it was a victory surviving a fight with The Shredder.
Panic in the Sewers was kinda a let down. While Splinter's motivations were sympathetic, I quickly got tired of him.
M.O.U.S.E.R.S. Attack is another one of my favorite episodes. I am a huge fan of the MOUSERS (I'm not going to write out the periods everytime). There was nothing more I wanted as a kid than to have a MOUSER toy. If you ask me, they were criminally underused in the series. Love their screeches. Good to see Mikey and Donnie get some focus.
It Came From the Depths: I'm a big fan of Leatherhead. His design is top tier. He's a very interesting and tragic character. Love his roar. Also the powercell is rather cool looking too.
I, Monster is a great example of how TMNT 2012 can make some truly menacing villains. At first Victor Falco was a lame looking human villain from an episode I hated. But after this episode, he proved himself to be one of the turtles' most dangerous enemies. The ability to control Splinter is used to its full horrifying effect. Not to mention his rather disturbing appearance. The glowing red eyes are still unnerving.
Now, I don’t remember if it was New Girl in Town or The Alien Agenda but when Karai calls Shredder father, I instantly knew he had taken Splinter’s daughter. It fact I was so certain that this was the case, that I didn’t realize Shredder revealing this in the finale was so supposed to shock us as much as it did Splinter. The evidence was pretty well laid out beforehand: Shredder’s jealousy, Splinter’s line: “he though that what was mine was his”, and the fact that in every flashback it looked like Shredder was carrying something away from the burning building. However, the biggest factor to my correct assumption was that no one would ever have kid with Shredder. I was 10000% certain no one had ever been with the Shredder.
Also in The Alien Agenda I liked the design of Justin. Donnie’s line of not knowing Karai but still hating her is stuck in my head. I was so hyped seeing the teases for Fishface's robotic legs. I was waiting for them, because they look really cool. I knew about the robotic legs in advance because I saw him with them in the opening theme.
I'm gonna get some flack for this, but I didn't like The Pulverizer. The character, not the episode. I just had to get the title drop in somehow. I'm on the turtles' side with this one, Timothy is annoying. All he does is get in the way. He makes things so much harder for my poor Donatello, which was the biggest reason for hating him. As a result, Timothy kinda brings down the whole episode, as it is named after him. Fortunately, not even The Pulverizer can squash the highpoint of this episode, Fishface in action. Fishface is one of my favorite mutants (maybe even my most favorite). There's just something so distinct about him, and his robot legs are so cool. His first episode proper as Fishface does wonders for the character, portraying him as a proper threat, and showing off what he can do with his legs.
TCRI felt so big to me that it could've been a season finale. Leatherhead's reintroduction was already a good sign. Sneaking into Kraang HQ was a difficult gauntlet for the turtles that never let up. The fight with Traag was beyond epic. Lava monsters are cool to me, and the turtles' fight with him was tense. It was some real video game type stuff. Traag would make an amazing bossfight. Leatherhead's sacrifice got to me.
I love Cockroach Terminator. Both the episode and the character. The Spyroach's design is just so cool, big fan of cyborgs and bugs. Raph also had a nice little arc about facing his fears, and in general he was amazing in this episode. They really knew how to make this 4 foot tall bug menacing and an absolute threat. The post molt form is not as cool as the first mutated form, but the Spyroach still remains an active and cool threat. Love the final battle with the giant laser. Also, I always thought this episode came much earlier in the series.
Baxter's Gambit is also an amazing episode. Baxter Stockman is at his most entertaining and camp. The Maze of Doom is a very distinct, unique, and fun setting. But, the standout of the episode was Fishface. Fishface, like many characters on this show, has an amazing design, however, this episode provided him with character work. We learned his backstory, and it's a rather good one too. A simple backstory about being such a good thief that he was hired to be one. Xever just likes hurting people. This is his life. It's all he ever known. This episode also cements him as Raph's arch-rival, which is one of the best dynamics in the show. I really like the (albeit obvious) parallels between him and Raph. Furthermore, I have and will always find it cool when the heroes and villains have to team up temporarily. The banter between the turtles and the goons is great. However, this episode began to illuminate a fact that I would not recognize until much later: Dogpound is kinda lame. Or more accurately, Bradford/Rahzar is lame. There's a reason why I didn't go over New Friend, Old Enemy. Dogpound is only an interesting character because of his design. He has little personality and barely explored character. I'll go more into this on later episodes, but just know that when he becomes Rahzar he fell off for me completely. In this episode he barely does anything. And anything he does do could've been easily done by either Fishface on his own, or the turtles. The only thing I can think of being Dogpound exclusive is ripping that turret out of the ground, but I imagine the turtles could have still found out a way to do that. Regardless, amazing episode. Love the gag of them all being too tired to fight at the end.
Enemy of my Enemy is good. I love the Stealth Ship. Love the lazer. Love the eye. Love the tentacles. The only thing I didn't like about it was how it was invisible most of the episode, so i couldn't appreciate it's design. Loved Karai's line about the ice cream cone in the Shellraiser. Now let's dicuss symbolism. We the audience are so acclimated to the turtles only being out at night, that when something happens during the daytime, it is off-putting, and causes unease. In I, Monster, the Rat King's attack is made all the more eerie as it occurs during the day. Both Showdown and Invasion occur during the day, showcasing the power the Kraang have, as they do not have to hide their actions. The day symbolizes events or actions that cannot be ignored, that cannot be cloaked by darkness or hidden in the night. So when the turtles attempt to assassinate the Shredder, it really does help make the audience, and me, feel uneasy, which helps make Karai more sympathetic. When the turtles decided to betray Karai and assassinate the Shredder, i was thrown for a loop. This is the sort of thing the Foot would do. I could see the turtles asking Dogpound: "Did you bring the rocket launcher?" "Of course not, we're going to kill you." And then he pulls out a denator and blows up the floor beneath them. Even though Shredder completely deserves to be betrayed and assassinated, i still felt uneasy about it. Anyways, Anton Zeck was right. The weird eye makes Steranko cool and interesting. He was to me, at least until he got hit with enough electricity to kill a person. Then I thought he was dead and we would never see him again.
Karai's Vendetta: Absolutely love the turtle sub. Criminally underused. Though i may be biased as I own the lego set of the sub. I also liked the sea monster they face, both in the (not that kind of) sub and in the facility. The April and Karai plotline is really good. Very tense. We get to see both sides of Karai. Her playfulness and her fury. So weird seeing her in causal wear. I also liked how April really got to stand up for herself and her own victory.
The Pulverizer Returns!: I really hated Timothy in this episode. He was told multiple times to not be mutated, completely ignoring them. Then when he lets himself be mutated he's surprised that it's an awful experience. He had it coming. I didn't feel bad for him in the slightest. He serves better as a wall decoration. I hoped that Donnie would take his time with curing him. The turtles' lesson was rather pointless as they just used items around them that were similar to their weapons. Also seeing Fishface ride a motorcycle was funny and goofy.
Parasitica is nice. It's unnerving in all the ways it should be. My stomach squirmed with every scene featuring Leo. It's also nice to see Mikey win.
Operation Breakout: Newtralizer is a very cool and threatening villain. Very cool to be up close and personal with Mr. O'Neil. Love the joke of Raph mistaking his infodumping for Donnie's and telling him to shut up. I felt genuine dread seeing that Mr. O'Neil is under mind control.
Showdown: Season 1 came full circle for me. I watched the season finale at my Abuelo & Abuela's house. I had to watch it in their bedroom, with the tv that was was way up high and far away. But nothing would stop me from missing this episode. I remember the tagline for the episode like it was yesterday: "Green versus Mean" The first half was good. Good mood setter. The infiltration of TCRI didn't feel like a rehash, it all felt cool. April was understandably a bit of a jerk. The arrival of the Technodrome was a great raise the stakes and really get through how dangerous the Kraang were. Now the second part is where things get amazing. All the stuff relating to the Technodrome was fine. Kraang Prime was cool for two seconds before becoming lame. They went out by Raph's weakest kick. Their robot suit looks stupid. And even back then I knew they weren't gonna kill off Leo. Still, the other's reaction to it did get to me a bit. Now for what we all came to the episode for. The real meat of this finale. Splinter vs. Shredder. This was what I was hype for. And it did not disappoint. Splinter easily taking out Foot soldiers while Fishface and Dogpound discuss him is a great way to set the tone and prepare us. And it's always interesting to see how the villains see their enemies. Splinter easily beats Fishface and Dogpound like its nothing, as he should. And then he faces the Shredder. The fight perfectly conveys that these are two masters, who are throwing EVERYTHING they have at eachother. You can feel the rage and hatred in each strike and blow. Each weapon is used to the fullest. No part of the terrain is unused, we learn that Shredder's Palace has fire geysers in those weird glass boxes off to the side. Splinter uses even his mutant abilities in order to get an upper hand of the Shredder, which got me so hype as a kid, and still does to this day. Once Splinter wins, we get the reveal. Karai is Miwa. Now, i had know this ever since she called Shredder father, but that doesn't mean the scene was meaningless to me. Splinter was devastated when the twist was revealed, and I felt his pain. I felt so sorry for him, learning that this monster took his daughter in a far worse way than any could imagine. i watched as he was forced to flee as his own daughter attacked him. Splinter's plotline in the episode was a masterpiece. Now, i want to go over some more symbolism. Fire sort of becomes a symbol for Shredder and his unspeakable actions. Splinter's flashback features Shredder walking away from a burning building where Tang Shen is dead and Splinter is about to die in. In Vengeance Is Mine, Stockman's lab is burned down. Shredder himself has a burned face. Shredder has fire symbolism. So when the fire blazes throughout his palace, and the room is orange. It hearkens back to the flashback, where the Shredder took Miwa away while Splinter was trapped in that burning building. But now, Splinter must walk away while Shredder keeps Karai in the building full of fire. The Shredder has taken away Splinter's daughter twice. The dance party victory was nice.
This concludes my TMNT TO ME for season one. Now, logic dictates that I should do season 2 next. However, I need to provide a bit of context before we start season 2. So, look out for my next TMNT TO ME post, which will go over an overlooked and forgotten part of nick.com: the official fan boards.
See you then, don't be slow! (turtle joke)

been rewatching tmnt 2012 with my sister (my other siblings joining occasionally) and WOW.
(take everything i say with a grain of salt)
ok so. from the beginning:
season one:
• i liked the build up of having to learn about the villains as they came in. it’s also a bit different because the kraang show up before shredder.
• the mystery of april’s connection to the kraang was enticing.
• I AM STILL MAD ABOUT TIMOTHY. they tried to make donnie seem guilty over it but donnie never seemed remorseful. timothy deserves BETTER OK? he was made out to he just some annoying guy but he wasn’t that bad. also just because someone is annoying doesn’t mean they deserve to get mutated into organs in a tank!!!
• the characterization of the turtles was still a bit rougher than i’m used to (my siblings and i are very close so seeing the turtles act mean for the sake of being mean is really… not my cup of tea).
• the ENDING is what sells this for me, though—when leo stays behind to destroy the kraang/technodrome and it explodes and they think he DIED? not a single tear onscreen. not one. yes there are people who don’t cry normally, and maybe they were in shock, but there’s almost no crying in the ENTIRE show for ANYTHING.
season two:
• ok, mutagen canisters sprinkled all over the city. makes for an easy way to bring in more mutants (they overused this)
• april’s mad. ok, interesting take. hey donnie maybe leave her the fuck alone and stop stalking her???
• krang invasion. ok, interesting. high stakes, new takes. can’t say I’m a fan of new york getting cured with no repercussions but whatever.
season three:
• interesting, interesting, being in the woods is a nice change of setting
• that one can of mutagen just… continuing the entire plot of the show.
• a FUCKING CAR GOT MUTATED???? what are the limitations of mutation i’m going to scream
• they um… they were just goofing off and having parodies/references to horror movies before the last episode where they just… DECIDE to suddenly get off their shells to train????? because Leo got his ass kicked by a deer???
• big dino go brrrrrr
• splinter dies. no tears.
season four:
• a l i e n s
• Y’GYTHGBA AND G’THROKKA MY BELOVED. Y’Gythgba, girl… you can do so much better. what do you see in raph. he can’t even pronounce your name right???
• what the— the wyrm episode didn’t have ANY semblance on plot OR character development??? nobody knows casey defeated wyrm. there’s literally… no reason to have this episode??????
• ok so wait. bishop first meets the turtles ON EARTH like RIGHT before the triceraton invasion. why does bishop know who they are when they go to dimension x??? they went back in time SIX MONTHS
• they had. an ENTIRE. EPISODE. DEDICATED. TO BEING INSIDE MIKEY’S MIND. AND THEY DIDN’T EVEN DO ANYTHING WITH IT????? none of his brothers treat him better. they don’t understand him better now. mikey himself doesn’t change. what is this.
season 5:
• oddly probably one of the more enjoyable seasons because it’s just so ridiculous
• mark hamill. my man. how did they get you for this role.
• why the hell does donnie hate don visioso SO MUCH? is it because his name is “don”? it’s because his name is don, isn’t it
• once again. mikey “dies.” no tears. no tears when he comes back. also why did they take away his powers without testing to see if they really would explode him???? that could be an asset???????
• what the ACTUAL FUCK was the mutant apocalypse arc. they dropped that out of nowhere and then never brought it up again. a mutagen bomb from the kraang but the kraang are nowhere in sight??????????? i have Questions
• monster arc was kinda garbage but the “I can’t find savanti ramiro anywhere i barely managed to track him to this time” “RENET! YOU FOUND ME!” was sorta funny
• bebop and rocksteady my beloved?? 1987 krang and shredder my beloved???? 1987 krang in not one, but TWO booster seats. this one was legitimately funny

TMNT-Verse Info— random facts about ash (my tmnt oc)
NOTES: enjoy! These headcanons apply to all tmnt versions of Ash, unless the headcanon specifies certain versions.
WARNINGS: mentions of pregnancy, mentions of being stabbed, mentions of drowning.
{~~~}
Ash opens chip bags (+ other bags, too) upside down. It drives Leo absolutely insane.
When Ash was pregnant with all of her children, she ended up getting really really sick during/throughout her third trimester. Throughout her entire pregnancy with Whitney, Ash was constantly and extremely sick.
Ash is known as the “Grammar Guru” because she is such a stickler for proper grammar. She won’t be annoying about it, but it’s more so a personal thing.
Here are all of the names of Ash and Raph’s children (I changed them up a bit): Harlene Yoshiko-Jade Hamato, Steele Leo-Ace Hamato, Tessa Michaela-Cerise Hamato, and Whitney Donelle-Snow Hamato. The name Yoshiko comes from Splinter (Hamato Yoshi), Leo of course comes from Leo, Michaela comes from Michelangelo, and Donelle comes from Donatello. Ash and Raph wanted to name their children after Splinter and the turtles in some way.
Ash grew up watching a hell of a lot of cartoons. Some were from the early 2000s, but mainly from the 90s and the 80s. Thundercats, The Tick, He-Man & She-Ra, Sonic and Mario cartoons — you name it, they've binged all of it. When they met the turtles, Ash introduced these cartoons to them.
Ash calls Raph "hot stuff". She does it because it flusters him every time she calls him that, which amuses Ash.
Like in the 1987 TMNT, I headcanon that Mutant Mayhem Raph and Harley can break the fourth wall.
Everyone thinks that Raph teases the living daylights out of Ash — oh, boy, Ash teases her boyfriend just as much as he does her.
In multiple versions of TMNT, Ash gets stabbed through the torso by Shredder with his blades, and she temporarily dies for a bit. Donnie manages to bring her back, so she’s revived. In TMNT 2012, it happens in season one in the episode with the mutagen bomb (“The Gauntlet”, where they first encounter Shredder). There were instances in the comics, and it also happened in TMNT 2003. In ROTTMNT, Ash got impaled through the chest by Shredder when she was caught off guard. 2003 Ash also drowned and had to be revived after a mission had gone wrong (she was with Raph and Casey when that happened).
Ash uses coconut and apricot shampoo and conditioner.
2012 Ash and Rise Leo would for sure get along great. They relate to a lot of things. They both share similar music tastes, they were both thrown off of roofs of tall buildings, and they like to watch anime and read manga.
2012 Ash was helping Donnie out with one of his inventions, and she was using a staple gun. She then, just like it was nothing, pointed the staple gun at her face and said “does this thing have staples in it?” Ash got startled when everyone yelled at her in concern and she shot herself in the face with a staple gun. Two staples ended up on her forehead and the two others were on the bridge of her nose and her right eyebrow.
All versions of Ashley chew her yogurt and ice cream.
Ash and Raph like to watch funny clips of Jerma in their free time.

“Wrath of the Rat King”
Season 8, Episode 2 First US Airdate: September 24, 1994
Shredder enlists the services of the Rat King while Krang retrieves a powerful weapon from Dimension X.
“Wrath of the Rat King” is the second episode of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles season eight. As with the rest of this year’s episodes, David Wise is credited as writer here.
Following on from the events of “Get Shredder!”, we learn that Channel 6 is back on the air, and as Burne promised the station is now going all-in on anti-Turtle propaganda. Meanwhile the Turtles themselves meet up with April – who despite having spent the entire series worrying about the prospect of being fired is now driving a flashy red convertible sports car – outside the Hall of Science. Convinced that Shredder and Krang have moved in following the capture of Berserko, the team are determined to get inside, but soon find the rooftop-mounted defences used against them.
Bebop and Rocksteady are on the roof of the old building, and use a catapult to lob hi-tech bombs at their foes. After realising the weaponry available to the villains is too powerful to be dealt with directly, the Turtles are forced to retreat. April has been filming these events, but is unconvinced that footage of her friends in battle will help change Burne’s mind about them.
Shredder is paranoid that the Turtles will eventually be able to infiltrate the Hall of Science and confront them; as a means of stopping his old foes he declares his intention to visit an old ally. Meanwhile, Krang uses Berserko’s equipment to contact General Traag in Dimension X. Following the events of “Shredder Triumphant!” last season, the Technodrome has fallen into a black hole, the gravitational pull too great for it to escape. Only one viable weapon remains within the fortress, the most powerful in Krang’s arsenal: the Shock Wave, however due to his lack of a body the alien warlord reluctantly concedes Shredder will have to be the one who wields it.
The last time we saw the Rat King he was a member of the anti-Turtle villain supergroup assembled by Shredder in season seven’s “Night of the Rogues”. Shreds visits him again, this time offering him advanced weaponry he can use to take out the Turtles. Rat King complains that this will only allow him to take over the sewers, but Shredder has a solution that will allow him to capture the rest of the city as well: a new form of mutagen that will enhance the abilities of his rats. This will only be granted to Rat King upon his successful defeat of the green teens.
General Tragg retrieves the Shock Wave, a modestly-sized weapon/contraption dealie, and sends it through the portal. The gravitational force of the black hole interferes with its journey, and instead of winding up directly in front of Krang it lands in the middle of a road elsewhere in the city. As police call for a bomb squad upon discovering the strange device, Krang orders Bebop and Rocksteady to recover his weapon.
The Turtles return to the Lair, discussing possible methods of getting inside the Hall of Science. Upon turning on the TV they see Vernon promoting an upcoming expose of “The city’s worst criminals, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”. A mock-up image appears on-screen showing the team clutching firearms, clearly intended to further sully their reputation. Raphael is furious and ready to confront the station boss, but Donatello is beginning to wonder if the team really are at fault for everything that has happened, and Leonardo concedes he may be right. Before the group can discuss the issue further, they find a group of vicious rats devouring their belongings. Moments later, the Rat King - who has now updated his image with a Darkman-style hat and long coat – bursts through a wall and attacks the Turtles using the weapons provided by Shredder.
Act two opens with the Turtles shoving Rat King back through the wall and into the waters of the sewers. He continues to use the gear provided to him to attack the Turtles, before finally creating a wave of water that flushes them away. Now convinced the team have been vanquished, he leaves to claim his reward from Shredder.
As Bebop and Rocksteady determine the Shock Wave has wound up with the police, the Turtles continue to grow more pessimistic: in what comes across as a distinctly meta-textual conversation, Donnie, Leo and Raph all begin to wonder if their time has passed and if they just don’t have what it takes to be heroes anymore. Michaelangelo is the only member of the group who hasn’t succumbed to this pessimism, convinced they can turn things around.
Channel 6 is now operating out of rinky-dink premises that, I assume by coincidence, resemble the station offices used by Channel 3 in the first live-action TMNT movie. Burne and April have an argument about the forthcoming anti-Turtles hit piece, during which he insists he can run the operation as he pleases, and warns her that she’ll be demoted if she airs a piece defending them. April doesn’t seem to take this on board, marching off and declaring she won’t be prevented from filming an exposé of her own.
Krang has been out of the loop regarding Shredder’s activities and is aghast to learn he provided weaponry to the Rat King, who he dismisses as a “lunatic”. Shreds is insistent that the sewer-dwelling villain has changed. (I don’t know what he’s basing this on, maybe he was really taken in by the new hat.) Bebop and Rocksteady relay the news that the Shock Wave is now being kept at the highly guarded Westmore Research Center, a facility that the villains have struggled to gain entry to in the past.
Speaking of gaining entry, I don’t know if Rat King was provided with a key to the Hall of Science or what, but he manages to saunter in and demand the mutagen he was promised for defeating the Turtles. This is news to Krang too, but Shredder fumbles his way out of this awkward conversation by pointing out that with the powers granted by their new mutagen, Rat King’s rodents could get inside the research facility and help recover the Shock Wave.
April uses her Turtlecom to advise the team she just spotted Rat King walk into Shredder’s new hideout, but the Turtles – who following their redesigns really are coming across as mopey, depressed teens going through some kind of dark phase – don’t even see the point in trying to do anything about it. Not only is Channel 6′s reporter aghast to hear this, but Splinter is too. Speaking like a true weary dad of four troubled boys, he tells them he’s “had quite enough of [their] poor attitude!” He goes on to shoot down Donatello’s concerns about Burne’s attacks. “If you believe the ill others speak of you, then you have lost before you begin. Winning is nothing. Doing your best and acting with honour are the only things that matter.”
Splinter marches out of the Lair, declaring that the only thing left for him to do is jump the gorge himself fight Shredder and the Rat King himself. The Turtles are horrified by this prospect, knowing that there’s no way their Sensei can win. Rather than put him through that, they agree to take up the battle on his behalf. The team meet up with April, who is thrilled to see them back in the game, but an unexpected threat soon emerges as Shredder and Rat King arrive with a group of mutated, wolf-sized rats.
Act three opens with the Turtles battling the giant rats, but finding themselves overpowered. The team attempt to lure them into one of the domes left over from the World’s Fair event and escape underground using a hatch, though the rats soon tear through the walls and return to their masters. Krang orders that the villains move on to the research facility to retrieve the Shock Wave; unbeknownst to the bad guys, April is continuing to track them.
The Turtles re-emerge and are now dejected even further, having been handed yet another loss, this time to the giant rats. They’re again on the verge of giving up when they happen to pass by – yes! - an electronics store with a bunch of TV sets in the window with the volume turned up, all of them set to Channel 6. Vernon is seen laying into our heroes, and presumably this is the “exposé” Burne promised earlier, as footage is shown of the green team that suggests they were in control of the Annihilator, Berserko’s destructive vehicle seen in the previous episode. Spite is a tremendous motivator, and the Turtles become furious at the sight of Vernon shit-talking them on live TV. Determined to prove him wrong, they resolve to defeat Krang and stop the mutant rats. How will they do it? With the help of Shredder’s retromutagen ray of course, the one that they retrieved in “Revenge of the Fly”. The one that they... uh... destroyed.
I mean, it’s gone. Leonardo sliced that thing to pieces with his katana, they made a big point of showing everyone watching at home that the retromutagen ray was not gonna be a thing anymore. And yet... here we are.
(Sigh)
Okay. Let’s continue.
Some scientists are seen at the research facility attempting to make sense of the Shock Wave when the assembled villains use the mutant rats to tear down the walls and confront them. Krang is thrilled at the prospect of getting his doohickey back, but Rat King has heard enough about this all-powerful weapon, taking the device and going into business for himself. Tired of being used as “some rat-obsessed crackpot”, he vows to get rid of Shredder and Krang before taking the city for himself.
The Turtles arrive in their van, carrying a weapon that looks nothing like the retromutagen ray (either the original design from “Shredder & Splintered”, or the one mistakenly patterned after the ray gun Baxter Stockman found in the alien spacecraft that was destroyed last season). They watch as the whole facility blows up, Rat King emerging with his army of mutated rodents. Using the Shock Wave, the villain blows a huge hole in the ground, forcing the Turtles to cling to the edges. Donnie struggles to reach the retromutagen gun, but after a pep talk from the other members of the group manages to pull himself up alongside the device and zap the rats.
Rat King goes on a rampage, destroying entire buildings with a single blast. He eventually winds up outside a facility where rat poison is stored and declares his intent to unleash the pesticide contained within, ridding the city of humans. The Turtles arrive to stop him, along the way taking control of an armoured truck: in defeating the villain, the vehicle is driven through a nearby wall, destroying the Shock Wave in the process.
April has filmed the Turtles successfully capturing the Rat King. Returning to Channel 6, she insists on playing the footage out live, demonstrating to the viewers at home that her friends are heroes. Burne confronts her afterwards and makes good on his promise, and as we close out today’s adventure it seems that she really will be demoted to mailroom duties. Watching from the Lair, the Turtles remark that it won’t take her long to bounce back as Burne doesn’t have many reporters to work with, something that’s been a running joke in Turtlethon from the start but... yeah, it’s confirmed here as canon, at least during this season. Having reclaimed their lost motivation, the Turtles are now determined again to beat Shredder once and for all.
I remain somewhat wary of this new era of TMNT, expecting that things are going to turn south any day now, and yet “Get Shredder!” was nothing to sniff at and here, again, I’m surprised to see the show maintaining that momentum. Some of my favourite recurring themes appear here, as Burne begins using his influence to attack the Turtles and threaten their way of life. The characterisation of the team as sulkier, older teenagers who are borderline depressed somehow works in this adventure, against all expectations: never have the Turtles been handed as many losses as they have over the course of the last three episodes, and it’s entirely believable that it would get them down. The return of the Technodrome, their banishment to Dimension X to work as slaves, their failure to stop the Channel 6 building from being destroyed and (temporary) inability to stop the mutant rats have all taken place within a short timeframe, and all of this is taking place against the backdrop of a hate campaign from Burne Thompson intended to turn public sentiment against them. No wonder they’re sad.
Last time I mentioned that Burne’s tirade following the destruction of the Channel 6 building was the most convincing anger we’d ever seen from him, rooted in a genuine loss rather than simply being hot air. Here, again, we see the characters talking with true conviction in ways they never have before: Splinter’s anger upon seeing the Turtles giving up feels real, he’s not just serving up the same hollow platitudes he has for the entire run of the series, this means something now. I mentioned earlier the meta-textual aspect of our heroes giving up, appearing to mirror their real-life decline, the world having moved on and no longer valuing them, and this adds an extra dimension to their sensei’s speech: both in-universe and as fictional characters the Turtles have lost everything, but he – and I assume, the remaining viewers at home – are rooting for them to stand up and fight, to prove they can still do this. I think this is easily Hamato Yoshi’s finest hour, the first time I’ve ever found him truly inspiring and the most effective use of him in the entire run of the show.
All of this is starting to make me second-guess my memories and preconceptions about the Red Sky era. While I don’t care for the redesigned characters, so far it’s... good? Like, really, really good? Wasn’t this supposed to be the point where the Turtles finally jumped the shark? Let’s hope this run of strong episodes continues as we move on to the season’s third adventure, “State of Shock”.
