First of all I’m a dancer at the International Hotel and there’s always men watching the other dancers including me. Especially Elvis Presley, he comes in after his shows or when he’s staying at International for a while.

“Girls! Elvis is back!” Jessica says to the group of girls including me.

We all giggle, I wonder why he keeps on coming back?

A few girls danced their dance routine, I kinda peeked out to see where Elvis is at, he’s at a booth that close to the stage with a few men. He doesn’t look impressed at all.

“He’s out there but he isn’t impressed Joe.” I said to Josephine.

“Oh really? I’m scared about both of us now.” Josephine says.

“If he’s not impressed I wouldn’t care in the world about it.” I said to her.

“I’ll do that as well.” She smiles.

“You’re about to go on.” Robert says to me.

“Good luck Y/N/N!” Josephine says.

“Thank you!” I say back to her when I’m walking to the stage.

When the music starts, I dance to the music and notice Elvis, he looks impressed about me dancing, the men with him, they did the cat calls to me, holy shit.

When I went to the wings I can tell on every dancer’s face, he’s here to see me. But why me?

I’m getting ready to head out until Abigail walks up to me and gives me a card, it says,

“I’ve been seeing you dance for a while now and you’re beautiful, come to the booth where I was at with my buddies. - EP”

Oh god. Let’s just get this over with. I get to the booth where Elvis and the men were at and when Elvis turns and looks at me, I get butterflies, I’ve never seen him up close before.

“Hey beautiful.” He says with the most attentive voice I’ve ever heard from a man.

“Hi.” I said nervously.

“The Memphis Mafia and I have been thinking, you come to my hotel room and we’ll go from there.” He smirks.

I’m scared but ready. I join them to go up to Elvis’ hotel room, it’s beautiful! I look around the suite for a little bit, the grand piano looks gorgeous.

“It’s a Grand.” Elvis says making his drink.

“It is? It’s gorgeous.” I touch the top of the piano and looks at Elvis.

“Do you wanna play on it?” He suggests.

“Are you sure you want me to? I mean I suck at playing any piano.” I said to him.

“I want you to, everyone is good at something.” I walks up and puts his drink on top of the piano.

I sit on the chair and he sits next to me, he allows me to play first, I kinda sucked at it but he helps me. I keep looking at him, he notices me, I’ve never been so in love with someone before. He leans into kiss me, I gave in, he picks me up to put me on his couch, we make out. A little while the Memphis Mafia comes in catching us.

Ever since he’s been coming to see me dance more and more and he waits for me when I’m done dancing for the night, including when I’m done practicing for any night that the dancers and I have a show.

Sometimes the dancers suspect that I’m his slut and whore because on what we’ve been doing for a while. Even Josephine thinks that I’m his whore. I can’t believe that’s what everyone is thinking about.

I tell Elvis about it, he just wants to make me happy, so he told his crowd one night about me and he told me that people got pissed about it as well. I want to leave Las Vegas but I already can tell the news is going to be talking about me and I’ll just leave the country if I had to.

One day I just broke down, me getting pissed off at anything near me. That night, Elvis and I made love but something happens.

“Mmm baby.” Elvis moans while kissing me.

I gasp, he’s so good to me. He gets harder by the thrusts I feel inside me, I didn’t want him to stop. He starts giving me love bits on my body. I moan to every love bite he gave me. He goes done to my clit and starts to eat me out. I scream, I tug on his hair, fuck he’s good at this.

“Once again, I love you but these things I’m hearing all over Vegas is tearing me apart.” I say to him.

“I love you too.” He whispered in my ear.

Eventually, the rumors died down and I feel much better! The dancers don’t think I’m a, slut and a whore, and no one is talking shit about me anymore. One night I danced and when I was dancing, I noticed Elvis watching me in the distance, I still love him no matter what but I don’t want to get death threats anymore.

His disgust at having to fight, much beyond what a normal human would tolerate. He likely had to keep caving the demon’s head in over and over because it kept regenerating. Holy shit. The color choice of everything being monochrome except for the blood is particularly chilling. I love when media uses that palette and KNY does it so good

- AUGHHHH his smile when he pats tanjiro 🥺🥺🥺 he thinks about Sayo…. GOD I love the Hashira

- I’d love to read more character analysis on Gyomei. I feel like we didn’t get as much context for his character as we deserved- why he continued to fight, despite how disgusted he is by his own strength, why he trained Genya despite his general distrust, especially towards children? Ultimately, I believe it comes down to Gyomei being a genuinely gentle human, and I’d love to read more analysis on how he maintains that. Maybe his own repetitive action helps him. I wrote a big paragraph about questions about his character, but wound up deleting it because I found myself answering them as I wrote. Regardless, if Gyomei is anybody’s blorbo to the extent that Kyojuro is mine I would absolutely love to hear your thoughts on him- I think he’s a massively underrated character and I’d love to understand him deeper!

-I’m presuming Zenitsu’s letter was about his Master’s suicide, and Kaigaku’s transformation. I think it was really clever of ufotable to put this scene in Gyomei’s episode, and put spotlights on Kaigaku being the kid that first betrayed Gyomei- I think that fact was only actually mentioned in a Taisho Era Secret. That’s gonna blow a lot of minds in the finale arc lol

-I wish we got more development on Zenitsu in this arc. His processing of the letter, his departure from Tanjiro and the others. I think Zenitsu is also a really misunderstood character, and this arc doesn’t exactly do him many favors in that regard. I wish we’d gotten a bit of filler vis-a-vis his development, but I’m hoping we still get that in his fight with Kaigaku.

My Thoughts on Tower of God Season 2 Episode 5

Time for a new arc! And this episode we get to meet "the other team"!

WEBTOON SPOILERS WAS TEASED BUT NOT OUTRIGHT STATED

Rating: 8/10

Summary: Tower of God is certainly at its best when they focus on the characters. The tone was well done and I loved how they adapted that ending speech by Khun. Music went hard as well!

Hm. I think this is anime original? I like how they showed it from Khun's POV while also typign up the loose ends over Bam and Endorsi's relationship in the anime. Season 1 skipped a lot of scenes where it insinuated that she was developing feelings for him. This scene feels a bit shoehorned in but I understand why they did it. They plan on following the webtoon properly this time so they need to show that she had crush on him.

I get that this wasn't an important fight so they didn't go all out with the animation and kept things simple. So I won't complain. I do like the lighting though!

HELP I STILL LOVE HOW HE BOUGHT THE NUMBER 1 T-SHIRT FOR HIMSELF AND NUMBER 2 FOR RAN. Little details like this really help in understanding the characters more. Norvick is so silly!

Okay, so when I first read the webtoon, I genuinely thought that the light was the Sun. But then I thought it was Rachel's lighthouse. But now I have no idea. I guess SIU just wanted there to be some cool imagery to snap Khun's amusement to his more sinister side.

And the way they narrow the screen?! Very good in setting up tension.

I love everything about this. Portraying Khun's inner monologue this way with his voice sounding a bit distorted along with shaky text is so good!!! Khun isn't just some sneaky guy, he is sinister when he wants to be and this is a perfect way of showing it in the anime!

Gosh, and the way the screen glitches out and his voice gets even MORE distorted is just amazing. A good way of showing that although he his explaining his plan to his team in a calm and rational manner, inside, he is SEETHING over explaining to his team why he hates Rachel.

The way Khun's eyes glow in the dark paired with Rachel's laugh thinking she won?? LIKE DAMN GO OFF. I LOVE THIS.

Hehe Team Sweet & Sour domestic life I love this. Feels awkward to have this right after such a serious scene but I guess they wanted it to end with Viole and FUG instead since the ED song showcases scenes with Viole or Wangnan for every episode

QUEEN HWARYUN IS HERE AND HER "yaho! :D" WAS SO CUTE. NEXT EP WE WILL GET FUG LEZGO.

Okay this was a really good episode, they absolutely nailed the Khun and Rachel scenes and the style they chose to go with for Khun's speech was such a good decision. It's clear that the studio definitely does best when the scenes involve talking because they show the tension really well. Kevin Penkin went off in this episode too I love it!

I do hope the animation improves more before THAT episode and that now they won't be skipping important plot points. Hopefully the characters will look less stiff too!

Okay I’ve been watching ER for the first time and I just watched the ep where Doug and Carol get together which is something I did not spoil for myself by researching on the interwebs and HOLY SHIT asdfghjkl

Firstly, an honorable mention for the ep, when Carol walks in wearing her dress for her date and Doug literally does a 360 to see her, I may make a gifset of it it’s so funny and cute, unless I can get @livelovecaliforniadreams to do it bc they make much better gifs than I could.

Okay, now on to the big stuff in the ep. When the new Pediatrics resident showed up I was a little sus of her, as I am with every new character because I couldn’t get a read on her. When she ended up in Doug’s car, I was thinking oh dear god don’t let this happen don’t let him screw this up and drag it out we were so close to canon Hathaross. And honestly I was mostly gonna blame it on the new Pediatrics resident lol, as we do with anyone who tries to get in the way of our ship. And then when she asked “How long has it been since you and Carol Hathaway broke up?”??? My respect for her went 📈📈 And when Doug replied “A long time, actually…” kind of laughing at how obvious he is I ekfbienekdjeb

And then when Carol was dropped back off at her place my first thought was why didn’t this guy walk her to the door? And when Doug showed up I honestly didn’t think it was the moment, just thought it was gonna be more cute buildup. When Doug asked why Toby wasn’t allowed inside and Carol said it was only the third date, my Big Bang Theory fan brain said Well actually Bernie told Howard that after three dates sex is on the table so if he was the one you really wanted you could have… just saying 😉

And finally it switched to that close up on the two of them and I realized this was it and all the air left my body. And HOLY SHIT that kiss!! I’ve never seen a first kiss where there wasn’t music and/or the camera panning around them, and wow did it send a message!! Nothing else, just them, Hathaross, finally together.

Last @lonestar-s5countdown Beginnings and Endings Week Post

I have a new work schedule now! And Lone Star is ending with season 5 real soon! That’s been fun getting used to… (/s) so I’ll post my fanfic/ music recs as one post tomorrow. Let’s see how much I can post w/o this becoming a complete image-less wall of stream-of-consciousness… but it will still be inevitable to everyone in the LS fandom who follows my handle and welcomed me. And if I haven’t said it yet, or enough, or sincerely in the last almost-year, thank you. Just thank you for your niceness, all your everything you’ve expressed, letting me be part of the fan group! I really really hope the end of the show doesn’t mean the end of this community, but whatever happens, it’s been a hella exhilarating, emotional, and lively experience.

(1) Which 911 Lone Star season premier is your favorite?

It’s a draw between seasons 2 and 4– I like the season premieres of 1 and 3 as much as everyone but holy hell I was not ready for the emotional twists in them to hit me the way they did. I am still in emotional recovery in both the good and bad ways. Both 2 and 4, until their respective cliffhangers, were quite light-hearted and self-contained with hints at the storylines to come, and those were easier for me to enjoy. Plus, Tommy, Gwyn and Iris (re-debut, in Iris’ case) had some colorful debuts! (I will always wish that Owen and Gwyn’s characters had a little more time together outside of the wit/ playfulness/ vitriol, and a couple more scenes with TK without their son always needing to be middle-man. But Rob, Lisa and Ronen played off of each other so well!) Gina’s portrayal of Tommy was just magnetically charismatic even without Michelle there— ‘Nuff said. And while I had issues with Iris’ bluntness (especially since it sorta re-opened some of TK’s emotional wounds), I could relate to being on both sides of a conversation in a similar situation to her— seeming hard to read/ confusing to most everyone around her (sometimes even with trusted family/ friends), and being confused/ offended by the delivery of what we convey.

(2) Which character do you think had the best introduction or first scene in the show?

I’m gonna say… it’s a toss-up between Judd and Grace for their natural first integration into the story and the first successful show>tell moment about them (specially Judd) in the series, Marjan (social media firefighter Muslim badass, in a description), and Mateo (for his own intro as unassuming but more than capable— Julian nails the portrayal of this character archetype in LS and The Long Game). Confusingly honorable mention goes to Michelle in hindsight, though? To me, she’s okay as a character, but I do understand where some fans were put off by her personality/ Liv’s portrayal.

(3) What is your favorite moment of 1x01?

Judd officially starting his end of the friendship with Owen by strong-arming him into accepting a chocolate chip cookie— you try saying no to a big Texan guy played by Jim Parrack and a mom and daughter holding a platter of chocolate chip cookies. Really, it’s tricky and you will probably get on their respective neutral if not shit lists. And Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” was quite a bop to end on! (Though, how did people find that wild? Just a little confused.)

(4) How did you first start watching Lone Star and how did you find out about it?

My aunt showed my mom and me the first parts of season 3– I saw… looking back on it, I’m a bit fuzzy on details but sometime in 2022 (def not consecutive days tho), I think I saw part of 3x04, then 3x07, and all of 3x08. And that last episode made me sob, I’m not ashamed to admit it now or in my grief week post. (My mom, grandma, uncle and aunt were watching it with me at dinner and were very confused about why I was crying.) Then I saw the last 3 eps, and it got me curious/hooked, so I went into season 4 kinda blind. Then I downloaded Hulu to catch up on the series proper, and the rest is rewatch history.

(5) What is one wish you have for the season 5 premiere?

Mostly that the overall narratives don’t feel too rushed or forced should there be a timeskip? I hate that Fox couldn’t get the show renewed… but on a lighter note? I’d like a solid explanation/ in-character reason for Grace’s absence that IS NOT a character death, a breakup, or anything relating to misblaming Wyatt.

OUGH okay so me, CL, and SL (CL's husband) went to Autoheart's first US tour :D

We had to wait in a p long line before the show, but we talk loud so some of the people behind us were laughing at the stuff we were saying n that's always fun :> the merch line was long as well, but I got 2 CDs and a shirt <3 (they didn't have the third CD there, but for some reason they had them at later concerts? I don't get that but I'm angy, I don't wanna pay like $22 shipping for a $13 CD ;0; )

Anyway the show started with the first opener, RAEGAN. She was p cool, her music was very punchy n we got to participate at one point n shout "FUCK RAEGAN" but like, there were a couple minors and a lot of nice people not entirely willing to yell that so it wasn't as loud as it could've been u,u

The second lady came up, Pidgeon Pit, and oh man her energy was amazing! She was all over the stage with her guitar, her songs were toothy and some political (in a good way) and she gave off hardcore big sister vibes, she was great :D she even had a moment of like, well for context Autoheart is popular with the gays bc it's a gay band (I know for sure the lead singer is gay but idk about the other two) so of course the queers were out in full force n the lead singer is a trans woman herself, so she gave a big shoutout to all the trans people in the audience (like me and some of the people to my right, who I made a bet with on Autoheart's opening song hehe) and it was nice to be in a room with so many people shouting for trans people instead of against them

OH BUT THE MAIN COURSE HOLY SHIT

Okay so I'll be using names; Jody is the lead singer, Simon is on keys, Barney is on guitar, and he's not a member of the band but Adam handled drums, he was fantastic <3

Anyway so they call come out on stage, Jody first, and he's got these genuine Gucci shades on that are so round and thick, it was so cute X3 he also had a suit jacket on that was a pinkish-reddish color over a black shirt, it was such a good look ;; Simon had jeans, a red Dickey's shirt, and a white short sleeve button up over that And Barney I believe had a graphic tee and jeans, but he also had a jean jacket on when we saw them after the show

Their first song is Lent bc of course it would be and everyone was singing along and like, god first of all, this is genuinely my favorite band ever of all time, I don't dislike a single one of their songs, I have them all saved to my Spotify, so you know I'm crazy about it, second I kinda face a lot of "oh that's what you're listening to?" (/neg) at home when I try to play Autoheart, and third I was with two of my favorite people in the world So believe me when I say I was FEELING it, being in a crowd of people who knew every word I knew, every vocal flourish in every word to the point the audience could all be heard doing the same vocal flourish from the base song that he did differently live, it fuckin got me man, I'd never felt so connected and part of something great like that ;0;

And of course the band is just going, they're playing banger after banger, Jody making these cute little smiles n doing these cute little dances and moves with his hands as he's singing, he was a joy to watch Barney was killing it on the guitar over there too, he was also doing backing vocals and he sounds so nice!! I'm not fully sure if he does backing vocals on all the songs or if it was just for live, but if it was just for live, then I hope they let him back up on more songs cause he was wonderful <3 Simon, oh man, don't even get me started, his work on the keyboard is part of why I fell in love with Autoheart in the first place, their first albums and EPs being FULL of those deep, punchy piano work, it's so good ;;;; oh and his tambourine work was great too, he was on that on the more lowkey songs And of course Adam was fantastic, filling the room with percussion when it calls for it omg dude was killer!

Oh oh and the LIGHTS oh man during "Time Machine", there's the line "voices/7 of them inside of me/each requiring autonomy" (referencing the 7 deadly sins) n when Jody got to that point, he'd do a Y pose, reaching his arms up as he's bathed in green light and subtle smoke, it was religious ;;;;

AND THE BEST PART IS WE GOT TO MEET THEM AFTERWARDS

Unfortunately we had to do it out on the back patio where the radio was turned up; I'm hard of hearing n they couldn't turn the radio down, so I could barely hear them ;-; But we got to meet them and get things signed and I got to tell them how much they all mean to me and I got to hug Jody ;;;;;;;;;;;;;

Last thing though, for those of you who know about me n CL's EW OCs known as the blormas, I imagine you're familiar with Joey. Joey himself is based on Jody, and a lot of his personality is based on the songs, so of course I had to draw a Joey for them all to sign, and they did <3 They were pretty impressed with the fact that I did it with pencils on paper and it made me blush ngl ;;

Listening Highlights: Episode 001

August 13th to 20th, 2023

Hello! Just as soon as I've started a new series, I've decided to put it off and make a new series! (Expect this.) Trying to keep up with daily posts was simply not worth it. Much as I was so excited to kick that series off, I thankfully decided to turn it off before it became too much of a chore for me and I'm glad that I did. Because now, we have a different format to substitute it!

Welcome to Listening Highlights, where I go over what I've been listening to as of recently! There's no set time for each episode, I just talk about music when I feel Autistic enough to do it. I also wanted to be more selective with what I talk about this time around; for the most part, that didn't happen, I'm just so Autistic that I went over pretty much all of the past week. So let's go!

Drake – If You're Reading This It's Too Late (2015)

The first thing I listened to after the last Today's Listens episode, I spent that morning with the 6 God himself, the man behind such classics as Way 2 Sexy and that one line where he calls himself a lesbian. He's one of the most popular figures of music right now and it's to the point where either you detest his trajectory as one of the most bland musicians going or you're LosPollosTV. I'm in the former camp and I do not look forward to having to try out his latest records any time soon, but at least I have this mixtape to fall back on whenever I need a reminder that Drake can spit. This turned out surprisingly great & consistent. I especially loved most of the beats on here, especially the ones that were sampled on I'll Try Living Like This (a cool album & also vaporwave). The energy is great and Drake even has some touching vulnerable moments as well. I highly recommend it and probably no other Drake release.

Highlights: Legend, Energy, Know Yourself, No Tellin', Madonna, 6 God, Now & Forever, You & the 6

The rest of that day was not too interesting. I listened to Western Digital's lost signal, which was a decent vaporwave and broken transmission EP. I bring it up because its closing track, glowing (disintegration), is one of the most haunting, harrowing and almost hopeless pieces of plunderphonic music I have ever heard. I highly recommend it for that alone, it sounded like distantly watching the world burn and collapse in front of you while bunkered away. I then finally gave a listen to lilien rosarian's second album every flower in my garden, which I didn't care all too much for. As much as I appreciate the production & the pretty soundscapes, they felt much less like songs than her 2019 debut. After that, I took another very slow step in conquering waterfront dining's monotonous discography with the FEELS 感じている EP, which was actually his first release in general and not his debut album that I rated before. I cared for it even less; it was a much rougher batch of vaporwave that was particularly underproduced & repetitive.

billy woods & Kenny Segal – Maps (2023)

So I decided to go through with another 2023 release and this one I wasn't too particularly excited about. Abstract Hip Hop has been hit or miss for me most days and that's usually to do with the production, so when I heard that billy woods was joining up with producer Kenny Segal again after 2019's Hiding Places, I was even less thrilled at the idea, because I did not like that at all at the time and I only now think that album was okay. But holy shit, Maps blew my expectations way out of the water! The beats are far better here, by miles, the samples are awesome and the beat drums are consistently excellent. billy woods continues to be a great rapper but it's not usually the lyricism that sells a hip hop record to me. It's the production that helps make me wanna look into the lyrics and this album handily succeeds at letting billy shine like that. I came out of this record with so many favourites, way more memorable highlights across the board than on most other billy records I've heard so far. Extremely high recommendation, genuinely makes me feel like I've been missing something from billy's records all this time.

Highlights: Soft Landing, Soundcheck, Blue Smoke, Babylon by Bus, Year Zero, Baby Steps, The Layover, FaceTime, Houdini, Waiting Around

Skimming through some more albums here, you'll notice one of them is home to one of the biggest vaporwave & future funk songs of all time, Private Caller. This is SAINT PEPSI's split album with ショッピングワールドjp titled Winner's Circle. I wanted to give this another fair shake, just in case SP's overshadowing of JP's side comes off as undeserved. But no, that first side is genuinely some weak & weirdly produced mallsoft-ish vaporwave. Not my cup of tea in comparison to the great second half. Speaking of giving lower vaporwave albums a fair shake, when christtt tells you this is one of the best vaporwave albums of all time, it's always a coin flip as to whether that's even close. Careless Messenger Recordings✆ (division under Comtex)'s sole album Suddenly Mega is not close at all. It's one of the slowest & most lethargic listens I've had in a vaporwave album and some of its many cuts are especially poorly produced.

Skymmr – your new home (2017)

Back in 2017, there was this group of very tiny vaporwave & plunderphonics producers who were given the password to a Bandcamp page and told to run wild with it. It was a practice that, in many ways, was horrible in hindsight, with how shoddily it was managed and how toxic some of the people in the group were. But underneath all of the gunk they shoved out, one record by fellow Aussie Skymmr stood out as not only a captivating example of the extremely abstract ethos of the music released there, but also was great & conceptully fascinating. your new home is a 7-minute 7-part suite of experimental plunderphonics & vaporwave sound collage and it's very cryptic about this theme of entering a new home and it not being at all what it seems. The result is probably the only record of that collective I ever regularly came back to and it even held up for me today. It's not my highest recommendation, this is definitely a more personal thing to me, but if you're curious, do check it out.

Highlights: gazing through the window, the man in the bathroom pipe cleaning (he isn't what he says he is), isn't this your new home?

The next day, I felt like kicking off the morning with some metal and one of my girlfriend's highest recommendations was Between the Buried and Me's Colours. It was a damn great time with some incredibly high energy throughout. After that was Ariana Grande's Sweetener, not my first full-length experience with her music, but one that I decided to rate first here anyway thanks to my favourite discog diver. That evening, me and my girlfriend decided to do a discog diving listening party ourselves by listening to every song netbooks.WRLD publically released to Bandcamp, which amounted to only two and a half hours. It was an excellent time and constantly high energy & fun. I recommend his debut album ENDLESS STAIRCASE for getting into his currently short but incredibly promising catalogue.

The day after that, I slogged through DJ VLAD's frankly exhausting Hardvapour. double mix. It was an okay time with some highlights, but it frankly served as a reminder of why that submovement of vapour burned bright & fast with toxic fumes. A few months back, I was recommended You're Doomed. Be Nice. by Rob Crow's Gloomy Place and to my pleasant surprise, this was a genuinely great indie rock record. The riffs & choruses were shockingly well-written and pretty catchy, through my only gripe was how understated the majority of it sounded. Still, I fully loved my experience with that album, unlike Facade by one of vaporwave's earliest come-and-go producers Psychic LCD, which I only loved about half the time. This was a full detour into progressive electronic ambient music and hoo boy, it sure sounds like it. It's definitely an ambient album with hints of progressive electronic music. It's decent, but I just don't think it should necessarily be noticed.

stab something – the art of copyright infringement (2014)

The end of that day, I tackled the final multi-track release by the early 2010s duo of stab something, which comprised of then-upcoming vaporwave legend christtt alongside then-upcoming beloved trans songwriter & producer Jamie Paige. They went on their separate ways after this particular EP, but my god, at least it still they had the magic in them together. Their full-length self-titled album is frankly astounding; it's some of the creative, upbeat & fun glitch hop / plunderphonics records I have ever heard and while this EP is much more small-scaled by comparison, it continues what made the duo so good. It's only 15 minutes, 5 tracks but it's just as creative, upbeat & fun with glitch hop & plunderphonics as that album, albeit without fully-fledged cohesion, which is kind of in its nature. I dearly recommend both of these records, at least the sole album itself.

Highlights: in and out, cheesecake

What else have I heard this week? Well, there was this one time two vaportrap icons VAPERROR & COCAINEJESUS collaborated under the Love Potion duo moniker with their album XXX. That was amazing at the time and even now, it's still an incredibly consistent and great wave album. I also listened to non-canon by Late Arcane after hearing their great album PreQuel from this year. This was more of the same punchy and creatively chopped together vaporfunk that was provided there, although on first listen, it's a lot lesser for me by comparison. There was also the first of a series of EPs by Street Sects, Gentrification I. It was mid. Whatever magic they were forcing through on their debut album End Position might just be a fluke after all these years.

There's about five more records that I heard after that, but at this rate, I kinda don't want to say much about any of them? Not because they're bad, not really, I just cannot say any notable things about each of these records, not even as much as I already did the rest of these. I adore Everything Everything as a band, but A Fever Dream is easily one of their weakest efforts, even if it's still a bit great. This weird STAR GIRL alias I heard many years ago put out the weirdly fascinating RNBW EP almost a decade ago (what the fuck) and I decided to finally listen to its predecessor, STAR. It was much less captivating & interesting despite being kinda similar in concept.Rebecca Peake was another side-project of death's dynamic shroud members, but even when compiling songs from the first two months of recording a song every day for a year, The World's Strongest was so inconsistent that I can hardly tell you what to make of it. Bladee & Ecco2K's Crest was just not a good listen to my ears. There's a 9 minute song that felt like 6 different tracks, I had to check what I was listening to multiple times. Plus, aside from Ecco clearly singing the higher passages, for the most part, I could not tell these two apart. Call me a not-member of the Drain Gang, I guess. Finally of this batch, I checked out bodyline's ファンタジーモニター、which was another healthy serving of really deceptively simple but clearly well-produced vaporwave. I do love what they're often going for, but this was just barely my least favourite so far; still very damn good.

I wanna close out this retrospective with two albums. First being Anderson .Paak's Oxnard, which is in my opinion, one of the most underrated albums of the past decade. Not that .Paak is not popular, he clearly is, that Silk Sonic album was excellent, but before that, people were dying for another Malibu from this guy and while they ended up getting that in the form of Ventura, it was not before the music community got "let down" by Oxnard and they dragged the album for it. I think it's a great album with some excellent singing, rapping, songwriting and producing across the board. It was really slept on. Lastly, Blank Banshee just incredibly recently dropped his fifth mainline album 4D. I have a lot of thoughts that I don't even think are cohesive yet on just one listen of this brand new thing, so that's why I've decided to give it its own review on RateYourMusic that you can check out right here.

1/3 We are officially on season 3! And it is a lot and I’m not even sorry for how long this one is because he went through a rollercoaster. And it did start with me starting the ep and then yelling ‘WAIT NO IM MOT READY!’ And then he went to get him Team Brian shirt..this is my actual life now. Anyway: ‘I swear I didn’t touch the tv! I don’t know why it’s without color. (I let him know it’s the ep) oh, well now i feel silly. What’s going on? HOLY FUCKING MOTHER OF SHIT AND HELL! HE JUST PUNCHED HIM! HE FUCKING DID IT! I HAVE WAITED MY WHOLE FUCKING LIFE FOR THIS MOMENT! OH THIS WAS BEAUTIFUL! FUCK YEAH! FINALLY!! FUCKING FINALLY! *takes the remote and proceeds to rewind it three more times* Oh that was beautiful, i have never felt more alive than in this exact moment. What a beautiful punch! Oh i can tell he himself has wanted to do that for a while…wait why did he do it though? When did you find The Dear Hunter? - Honestly the crazy thing is I found em thru ytmusic way back in August 2021, again thru In Cauda Venenum, but I never actually intentionally went out to listen to more of their stuff until summer 2023, with which I started with Act III. I really liked Act III, but didn't really keep up the momentum with it until the fall that year, in which I fell DEEP into the TDH brainrot, and now here I am finally done with their discog a year later. Thank you youtube music for recommending it lol, makes me wish I actually bothered to use streaming for music recommendations more, I really don't

A/N – Immediately after binging the first 3 eps, I couldn't help myself and felt the need to pump something out.

It wasn't a particularly interesting day. Quietness spread throughout the room, with the exception of the ambient chatter of people on the street and the hum of radio music in the corner of your shop. The inactivity of business was a familiar event, and so the work became more of a dull chore than an actual job.

Running a scrap shop on Ferrix was probably the worst idea ever, especially having competition with every other scrap shop in town. It was still a surprise to you that you could still manage to keep the shop afloat.

That was until you saw your regular customer walk in—Cassian Andor—a favourite. He walked under the doorway and spotted you, his cold features warming up when you caught his eye. You glanced at the time from behind the counter.

“You’re late. Thought you’d never show.” You teased him. Cassian had a schedule when it came to visiting your palace of robot parts. Without fail, he would arrive on the hour, except today. Sometimes you weren’t sure if he was visiting for the business, or for the company. Compared to the other myriad of sister shops on every corner, it would make you think he was ripping you off with all the times he dropped by.

“I know, I’m sorry. I had some transport trouble, I’m sorry that you missed me.” He smirked at you and then placed a ship component on the surface in front of you. You raised your eyebrow at him.

“A stabiliser? I’ve got like ten of those,” you scoffed before handling the component and twisting it around. That’s when you saw a small sigil etched into the side of it, “holy shit, is this imperial?” You gawked at the piece of metal. He crossed his arms and leaned back in pride, nodding. “How the hell did you get your hands on this?” You asked him and started twisting it around in your hands, getting a good inspection on the spacecraft part.

“Some old crashed ship a few hours out of town.” He explained, and you returned the stabiliser to its position on the counter.

“How much d’you want for it?” Your fists rested against the table, balancing your weight on them. Cassian contemplated for a second before speaking.

“Five thousand credits.” His words were filled with conceit. You scoffed at the suggestion and slid the scrap closer to him.

“Not a chance.” You replied, and pushed yourself up and rounded the counter, walking past Cassian who was now looking at you, dumbfounded.

“What, why not? This is premium imperial technology, it’s probably worth more than that!” He exclaimed, but you didn’t turn to face him. You picked up a nearby rag on a different table and started scrubbing the grime off of a small heat sink.

“That,” you pointed to the stabiliser in front of him, “my dear Cassian, is empire junk. If they find out that you stole that, then you’ve earned yourself a blaster to the head.” You went back to scrubbing.

“Fine then. Four thousand for the illicit part.” You couldn’t help but smile at his unwillingness to back down. You stopped the scrubbing and placed the items down before spinning around and sitting on the edge of the table with your arms crossed.

Now that you could see him again, you took a long look at his face. His face was surfaced in oil and dirt and his unkempt hair with his growing beard tied the whole ‘rugged scavenger’ look together. Whenever he looked at you, his features would soften and all you wanted to do was to hold his face in your hands and stare into his eyes. The same eyes that noticed your staring, and you snapped out of your daydream from under his gaze. He was flattered, and as a result, he expressed an arrogant smirk.

“Three thousand. It’s almost a decade outdated, not as premium as you think.” You countered, and he clicked his tongue and started to slowly stride towards you. You nearly leapt off your temporary seating when you straightened up. He was very close to you, and you swore you could feel his body heat from the proximity.

“What if I buy this?” He picked up the heat sink you were previously cleaning and shook it in the air, looking at you. You felt his warm breath on your shoulder when he spoke, but you weren’t ready to let him exploit you that easily.

“It would run you about five hundred credits.” He made a mockingly pouting face at your answer. “These are trying times, Cassa.” You clarified. He made a quiet little huff of laughter at your tenacity that made your heart flutter, but he was willing to play this game with you as long as you were.

“You wound my pockets, sweetheart.” You nearly melted on the spot. “I could probably get a better deal with Bix.” You were slightly offended by his claims. So he decided to play dirty, mocking your lack of business as a threat tactic to rip you off further.

“But Bix wouldn’t be your favourite scrapper to visit, would she?” That wiped the smirk off his face, and you found yourself feeling slightly dismayed watching his serious face. You made the terrible mistake of calling attention to his frequent and predictable visits. You weren’t afraid that he would lash out at you—no, you knew Cassian well and you knew he wasn’t one to react violently at you—so that’s what scared you most, the unknowingness of a reaction. He started to lean in over your shoulder, mouth hovering over your ear. Your breath hitched when you felt his body press closer into your own.

“You’re right,” your tensed muscles relaxed, relieved at his words, “she’s not. I’d always pay a little extra to see you.” The feeling was short-lived after he said the last part, and you felt your cheeks grow warmer. He leaned back, catching your eyes once more, and looking at you with a soft ogling, reading your reaction. Your lips were ajar to let your ragged breaths seep through, as he made it difficult for you to breathe all of a sudden. Your body ran its troubleshooting and you snapped back to reality, straightening your posture to exhibit your utmost fakest confidence that you could muster.

“How do I know it works?” You asked, completely ignoring his insinuation.

“I was careful not to disturb the wiring when I excavated it. Want to find out?” He replied.

“Two thousand two fifty and I’ll throw in a full repair check.” You offered.

“Two thousand two fifty, but you throw in a kiss on top of that.” He suggested, and his hands found them on either side of you, resting on the edge of the table behind you. This resulted in him closing the gap between your two bodies, as he pressed you into the surface behind you.

“You could get that for free.” It was like your heart spoke for you, the words rolling off your tongue autonomously. It was all Cassian needed to crash his lips onto yours. You caved into your fantasies from your daydreams and your hands found their way to his beard and you caressed his jaw. In comparison, his hands left the table and found your waist, to which he embraced.

Your lips moved wildly and passionately against each other, he wasn’t holding back any longer. The crush that he had for you expanded every time he walked into your shop, every time he saw you, and every time you spoke. You never did anything specifically that made him fall in love. Since there was barely any business, you basically did most of the cleaning and repairing during the hours he wasn’t there, so he fell in love with you for doing absolutely nothing.

Most of the time, the bargaining would just be an excuse to talk to you longer. He didn’t care about the credits, or the value, rarity, technicality, or whatever. He just wanted to talk to you more.

After a while of a fiery makeout session, he pulled away, leaving you both in a hot and breathy mess. You were disappointed, but welcomed the much needed break.

“Two thousand two fifty. I’ll pick it up tomorrow.” He started to walk backwards, rounding to the exit. “I’ll know to use my regular-customer discount next time.” He winked at you before taking his leave, and left you anticipating your favourite customer’s return.

akiba meido sensou (7.5/10)

so, i never meant to watch this show. i thought it would be just another CGDCT slice of life where maids do their maid stuff, and they have fun... I WASN'T EXPECTING THIS THO. this series is crazy, like, the first ep starts with a maid being shot in the head like ??????? and then ranko (best girl imo) starts shooting this rival maid group along with a cutsie song like ??????????????? i was both confused and charmed. this anime is such a blast, it's filled with twists and turns, random shit that it's bizarre but it also makes so much sense. i can't fully explain it, you need to watch it.

akuyaku reijou nano de last boss wo kattemimashita (4/10)

dear lord the toxicity here is astronomical. the way i was looking for a hamefura replacement and i ended up getting this... i feel scammed. this was meant to be a fantasy romance story, but it ended up being a contest to see who's the most toxic person in the relationship. between throwing someone out of a flying carriage just to see them cry and almost stabbing someone on the crotch because they want to break off their engagement with you... i don't know who's worse. they totally deserve each other.

blue lock (8.5-8/10)

i cannot decide myself on what rating i should give to it. while i do love bllk and think is one of the best sports series i've ever read, 8-bit's adaptation is... interesting. while i did think the first episode was amazing, the visual level just started dropping. some of the hand-drawn animation looks weird, and the cgi sometimes looks like it has been taken from a mobile game. i have mixed feelings with these series; while it's still fun and interesting, it just doesn't kick me as much in the chest as the manga does. if you wanna start bllk, please read the manga first.

bocchi the rock! (6.5/10)

as i said before, i'm not a big fan of CGDCT, and this series is just that. i was into the music part of the series and bocchi's social phobia (which, as someone who went through it, i think it's a pretty good representation), but it's still not my cup of tea. it bores me at times, and i'm the one to blame. it's not bad, it's just not my thing. if you're into this kinda stuff, i fully recommend it.

boku no hero academia 6 (8/10)

NOW THAT IS A GOOD SEASON. this one's adapting one of (if not the) best arcs in the series and hell yeah i'm hyped. in case someone hasn't started it, i won't spoil anything. i'll just tell you to please not worry about the quality: the art, animation and everything in general is being tretaed with so much thought and love. i'm just so happy to see all of them back!

boku no roboco (4/10)

(at this point, i've only watched two eps. my opinion on the series may change) i know the manga is popular, i know it makes a lot of anime references. i wanted to try giving it a chance and oh lord. first, it's difficult to find. second, it isn't even funny. if i'm not dropping it is because the episodes are short and fuck it. but not because you make a shit tone of anime references means that you're gonna be funny.

AND OH LORD SHE'S LOOKING AMAZING. i've been waiting for this series for so long, (since it first got announced like holy fuck the feels). i have the entire part one on my bookshelf and it brings me so much joy (and tears and trauma and—) to finally see it animated. the animation, the art, the music, the voices— everything is just fantastic, perfect even. the op is a banger and each and every ed is just so good (some better than others imo). i'm so happy mappa were the ones that took the project like omg thanks mappa but fr fr. if i'm not giving it a higher note is because i'm afraid that would be my inner fangirl speaking so yeah. my children look perfect, that's enough for me. and fuck those who complain about the cgi istg—

cool doji danshi (7/10)

just a pretty chill slice of life short series about a bunch of dorks trying to survive in the wild. they're all so relatable and idk what to think about it. babe's also pretty absent-minded, so this is pretty comfy to me... is this how #representation feels like? besides that, there's not much to say about it since it's just... that. they exist, and i'm happy they do.

fumetsu no anata e 2 (8/10)

second season of "don't get attached to the cast because they're all going to die". at this rate, i think i'm made of stone because i haven't shead a tear in the entire series. i'm also getting use to the show's formula (introduce new character → make you feel attached to them → kill them), so ig that's also why i don't feel that sad anymore? idk, i do feel sad but not that sad yk. anyway, is as good as the first season so you should give it a try.

fuufu ijou, koibito miman. (6.5/10)

i started not liking the series (the male mc was annoying to me and i felt like he would only see the girls by their "personality"), but i ended up getting attached in some sort of way? it's an easy to watch, funny romcom that, even if it's nothing special, will entertain you for the time being.

kage no jitsuryokusha ni naritakute! (5.5/10)

i like the idea, but not the execution. i mean, kinda. it started being a parody of isekai series, but i feel like isekai is slowly but surely eating the show alive. i'm not that interested on the plot and the ecchi scenes and comments are... something. to give you some example: there was this scene where these girls would pose in ways others could check their breasts better and perceive them as bigger than their opponent's. or maybe the many comments they do about the protagonist's dick being a fricking sword????? umm not thank you.

koukyuu no karasu (7/10)

a historical fantasy shoujo series with interesting plot points and a cute romance?? hell yeah, count me in! each and every character is lovable af and trust me when i tell you you'll never get bored. the art is so cute and comfortable (idk how to explain it), and the romance is just... i just want them to date already, am i asking too much? definitely give it a chance.

mairimashita! iruma-kun 3 (8/10)

new iruma season and the first one i'm watching as it's coming out. the children are back and more chaotic than ever in this new arc (the best one yet, from what i heard). i just can't stress enough how this series makes me feel, how comfy it makes me feel. i've connected with the characters in such a way it just makes me smile every time each and every single one of them just appears on the screen. i'm so excited to see who'll win! (no spoilers please)

mob psycho 100 III (8.5/10)

this isn't the last season. no, i refuse to accept it. even though many characters are getting their closures and all this chaos is going on and every wish of them to have a happy life has turned to ash. this is not the end. and that never happened. no. just. leave me alone.

mushikaburi-hime (6/10)

so, they're trying to bring historical shoujos back and while we did get some interesting results (koukuuu no karasu), we also got series like mushikaburi-hime. the series is about a girl who is obssesed with books and a dude that isn't, but because he likes her he's up to deal with that little trait of hers. and... that's pretty much it. the series revolves around their relationship (which sometimes turns a bit toxic due to the male mc). the female mc hasn't progressed in over ten episodes, she won't progress now. if you're interested, there it is. but it's not a series i would recommend.

renai flops (7/10)

i said it before: i love shitshows. this one seemed to be a parody on ecchi, harem series which caught my eye. i mean, the first ep involves the dog scene which is one of the most bizarre scenes i've seen on any romcom. at first, i was gonna watch it for the laughs from how bad it all was, but then the second half happened and it changed my view on the series. from a parody that makes things absurd on purpose to something else. i would recommend anyone who's interested to watch it and please, do not spoil yourself.

shinobi no itokki (4/10)

this show is about a dude who goes to high school and he gets confessed to by a girl he doesn't know. only that it wasn't a confession but a trap, because that girl was a ninja and was trying to kidnap him. but he's able to runaway because he has all these ninja abilities that his mother forced him to learn and never questioned why. and then his mum tell him they're actually ninjas and now he has to go to this ninja school that's literally a high school building in the middle of nowhere like ????? i thought ninjas were discreet???? except no one cares about the school because then someone (don't ask, don't remember) gets betrayed and blames the dude's clan and shit happens and wth is going on????

spy x family part 2 (8.5/10)

part two of this very wholesome but also very fake family! their shenanigans are as crazy as they were in part one, and we got introduced to our queen, fiona. also, the main fake couple are growing closer due to the mission and i think that's pretty cool now get married for real this time.

tensei shitara ken deshita (6/10)

just your average isekai with better than average animation and a wholesome bond between both leads. besides that, i have no much to say about it. i absolutely adore fran and amanda, but the whole idea of fran being op almost from the start is frustrating. i wanna see her grow, but this left me kinda cold.

urusei yatsura (6.5/10)

many people were hyping this show, and i do understand why. after all, it's pretty rough fighting against nostalgia. still, even though the visuals are so cute and the op and ed are pretty good, it just shows the series it's an old one. the comedy falls flat at times along with some characters, although it's still enjoyable. i don't know if i'll keep on watching the second season, but for now i don't feel like dropping it.

uzaki-chan wa asobitai! ω (6/10)

so, uzaki is back. the first season has never been one of my favorites, but i decided to give the second season a try and watch it as it was coming out and... well, it's uzaki. for some of y'all it may be hilarious, but to me it's just fine. it's boring most of the time, although i do like the idea of the mcs dating (please do so for fuck's sake). if you're into this kind of comedy, you should give it a try.

I just finished binge watching season 4 with my friend so I am going to try my best to write down cohesive thoughts. (Warning: They’re not very cohesive) Spoilers ahead!!!!

Ep. 1: I love Kitty and Thomas in this episode!!! The way Kitty’s voice changes when she becomes his agent is hilarious! And then Robin becomes his bodyguard!!! Fanny and Julian bonding over their voyeurism will never not be funny. The reference to Ötzi is my favourite but I think it’s because I’m a massive nerd. Mary’s description of her day to day life was honestly so wholesome and beautiful I loved it. I related far too much to Alison’s anxiety about being liked by guests and such. Also Cap and Mick at the end <3

Ep. 2: AAAAHHHHHH CAP AND KITTY BONDING EPISODE THIS IS MY FAVOURITE THING EVER YESSSSSSSS!!!!! Mary backstory time!!!! Annie teaching Mary how to be a girlboss!!!!! Also Thomas is a confirmed former drug addict and I honestly love that for him. Pat becoming a prison guard is incredibly funny! Wonderful Humphrey and Thomas moments in there!!! As soon as Mike’s friends talked about their little “business opportunity” I immediately knew it’s was a shady pyramid NFT scheme type situation. Cap’s bug obsession!!! Alison trying to bond with the ghosts!!!! AAAAAAHHHHHHH THE CAPTAIN WITHOUT HIS JACKET AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

Ep. 3: The closest thing we’ll get to a musical episode!!!!!! Honestly good on Alison for putting the ghosts in their place. And Mike being the best husband ever is the sweetest thing!!!! “Julian fingering Fanny’s lip” will probably be my favourite Fanny joke to date! DOUBLE CAP GUN NOISES!!!! <333 I love Mary sticking up for herself!!!! Then she goes and has a self care day!!! “My heart belongs to daddy” 👀 okay Cap. Ep. 4: This one broke me. But birdwatcher Cap makes me incredibly happy! :) the fakeout with Robin and then making it so Mary is the one sucked off absolutely destroyed me. You can’t just kill my wife like that!!!!!! It happened so suddenly!!!! And then it shows all the different ways the ghosts grieve, it absolutely broke my heart. Then Robin talks about how he looks to the stars as a coping mechanism 😭. And ALISON WEAVED A BASKET WITH MARY AND IT’S FIVE POTATOES HIGH!!!!! Then there’s Cap about to cry and Julian comforting him! And the fact that Humphrey didn’t even know 😭😭 I can’t with this show this is a comedy why am I sobbing!?!?!? Beautiful episode. Damn you Ben Willbond! (Affectionate)

Ep. 5: New ghost!!!! He seems like such a chill guy I love Maddocks. (I really hope that’s a reference to Yonderland) He really is just the guy ever. I love the fact that Robin has known about him for so long. I wanna stab Barlcay <3. Mike trying to get out of the bubble thing is so silly I love it! And Robin and Julian playing with the giant chess board is everything!!!!

Ep. 6: Holy shit what an opening. I knew Button House HAD to be fine but a little voice in my head kept telling me otherwise. I love that Julian is trying to be a good person just to prove Cap wrong. Idk why that’s so amazing to me. Robin backstory!!!!!!!! I knew the struck by lighting theory was right!!!!! I feel so validated!!!!!!!!!! Also ROBIN IS A THUNDER GOD NOW!?!?!! Like he can control lighting essentially. That’s a lot of power for one ghost to have. My guy can CONTROL THE SKY!!!! Over all a pretty open-ended ending. I’m very excited to see what they have planned for season 5.

I really liked season 4! The vibe was definitely different but it wasn’t bad at all. I love how we got more Humphrey and the Plague Ghosts and I think each character had their time to shine and it all went really well! Episode 2 is definitely my favourite!
