The Gallifreyan relationship with food is a little strange to humans, and although they don't really have grocery stores as humans understand them, they do have their own way of doing things.

🍱 Food Dispenser Machines

Most sustenance on Gallifrey is provided by food dispenser machines. These work by pulling fungi from vats and molecularly rearranging it into any requested food - it's pretty much the same tech as used on a TARDIS. It's for this reason many Gallifreyans have never cooked a meal in their lives. The workplace refractories, like office canteens, are equipped with these food machines, ensuring no one ever goes hungry on the job.

🛒 The Marketplaces of Prydos

However, this doesn't mean there's nowhere on Gallifrey to buy food. The grand city of Prydos, for example, has shops and stalls filled with delicacies from across the universe, including Earth and Venus.

🎈 Special Occasions

For special occasions, Gallifreyans do like a variety of more traditional foods. Dishes such as Karmine pudding, Dactyl Eggs, Magenta Fruit, and even the legendary Flan of Omega are Gallifreyans favourites. And you can't really mention food without talking about the Palace of Arcadia, probably the best restaurant on Gallifrey.

🌾 Traditional Agriculture

There is also a group known as the Outsiders, who have rejected the high-tech ways of mainstream Gallifreyan life in favour of a more rustic existence. These individuals often turn to farming and sell their produce to those in the Capitol. So while the majority of Gallifreyans rely on synthetic food, there are still bits of more traditional agriculture.

While Gallifrey might not have grocery stores in the Earthly sense, it has a kind of blended approach between synthetic delicious fungi, and organic foods.

“Good morning, Arcadia Oaks. It’s still 6 AM.”

The voice of the radio woke up Y/n of her short slumber. She had fallen asleep on top of her college books, again. She took the semester off from college for studying, or at least that’s what she told her mother after she found her sleeping on her desk last month. But if she was honest with herself she hasn’t been reading. She hasn’t even opened her books since she came home. Strange dreams were plaguing her nights; war, monsters, people she doesn’t know but love and a strange but familiar darkness that hugged her.

“Good morning, Y/n!” Downstairs she found her brother Jim making breakfast.

“I told you I could make breakfast” she laughed. Her brother was always eager to help.

“Well, I already did it” he set a plate for her.

“Thanks! Are you sure you don’t need a ride?” She asked as she saw him pick up his backpack.

“Nah, I’m good” he said before disappearing into the garage.

“Okay…Bye! Say hello to Toby!” She screamed.

“Bye!”

As she started to eat her meal. She heard Jim stumbling on the trashcans.

“Ugh! Racoons”

She laughed at his screams.

The shifts at the music store could be slow and exhausting. A lot of parents ask her what’s the best instrument for their child like she could know. Even with her favourite music in the background the walk home felt eternal.

A small yelp interrupted her routine. She looked to both sides but nothing seemed out of the ordinary, so she kept walking. She heard another yelp but this time it sounded like a…meow? She looked in the dark alley and suddenly, a set of familiar amber eyes were looking back at her.

“Wait” she murmured to herself “Al?” She crouched and extended her hand.

The cat meowed in response. Y/n remember that meow.

“Oh love, it is you! Do you remember me?”

Slowly, the cat walked out of the darkness and smelled her hand recognising her immediately.

“Hello, my little baby” she laughed once the brown cat threw herself at her, purring, just like he did the first time they met.

Y/n walked all the way home holding Al, he was as light as she remembered. She couldn’t let him go and risk losing him again.

A year ago, after Y/n went to another town for college, Al ran away. She had lost her hope of finding her a couple months back when she came home from college and heard about a brown cat being run over by Dr. Muelas.

“Jim! Jim! Look who I found!” She screamed at the seemingly empty house.

“Jim?”

“Meow?”

No answer

“Maybe he went to Toby’s”

Al licked her nose in response

The next morning, Y/n woke up to her brother shaking her

“Y/n! Y/n!”

“Mmh, Jim! What?” She put her pillow on her face.

“I need to talk to you!” It sounded urgent.

“Ugh! I’m up I’m up” she sat up on the bed and looked at her brother, he was pacing not paying attention to the cat next to her feet.

“Okay, okay. Last night the craziest thing happened. I was home and I looked at the…”

“You were home last night?“ she looked at her brother’s bewildered face “Keep going. Never mind”

“So…I heard a noise in the basement and I thought it was racoons but there was these huuuge things, with eyes that…”

Jim looked back at her sister and saw the confusion on her face.

“Ha! I think I’m losing my mind. Never mind. Forget it”

“You sure?” Y/n said before falling asleep again without listening to the answer.

While Y/n scanned a record for a band she didn’t care about she thought about her brother and the chat they had this morning, if you could call that a chat. Was her brother also having nightmares? Was he having trouble at school? Is she not doing enough at home?

“Hello” A voice brought her back from her mind.

“Welcome. How can I help you?” She looked at the man and felt the blood rushing to her cheeks.

“I’m looking for guitar strings” said in an english accent that sounded so sweet to her ear

The guy smiled and Y/n just stared. There was something about him.

“He doesn’t know how to negotiate!” A distant scream distracted her.

“Toby?” She looked out the window.

“Emmh no, my name is Douxie. Remember?” he laughed.

“Oh, yes. Sorry” she blushed “I’m Y/n…but you knew that…Sorry about that. Electric and acoustic are over that wall”

“Thanks”

Y/n couldn’t stop looking at Douxie. Every time she saw him she would get lost observing him. The way he moved and talked. There was something about him that made her dizzy but she didn’t know what it was.

“If you keep looking at him like that you’ll make a hole in him” Randy, the manager of the store laughed.

“Ha ha! very funny. You should be a comedian” Y/n rolled her eyes “There’s something about him. I think I know him from somewhere”

“Suuuure”

“Come on! Where did I see him before?” She tilted her head and mumbled “Have I ever seen him before?”

Randy sized her up for a second. He has the tendency to think she’s lying.

“He works at Benoit’s”

She looked back at him with at smile.

“Of course! How did I forget it?” She lied.

Yes, she remembered him from Benoit’s. That was the first time she can recall seeing him.

It was an afternoon, Y/n was waiting for her brother and his friend to meet her outside of Benoit’s. They just had a big exam and she wanted to do something nice for them. She was laying against a pole looking at her phone when she heard him.

“There you are! I thought I lost you” He lifted her in the air.

“What are you doing?!” She hits him in his ribs with her elbow.

“Oh, fuzzbuckets!” Douxie put her down and grabbed his stomach.

“Do I know you?” When she turned around and saw him. He was crouched down, his hands across his stomach and his face was partially covered by his black and blue hair.

She felt the world slow down when his hazel eyes met hers. She almost forgot that she was mad at him for touching her without her permission.

He seemed disappointed and that made Y/n chest hurt. She had to mentally slap herself and remind herself that this random man just hugged her from behind without her consent.

He apologized and quickly explained that he thought she was someone else. Y/n chuckled. The red on his cheeks and the big distance he had put between them made her agree that it was a mistake. He even paid for the food she ate with Jim and Toby at Benoit’s when she sat at one of his tables, which y/n thought it was too much. Her boys eat a lot.

Y/n’s ringing phone distracted them from Douxie and his guitar strings.

“Ow, mom is coming to pick you up?” He joked.

“Shut up! your mom actually picks you up” She chuckled.

Randy laughed.

“Hi, mom. Is everything okay?”

“Yeah! One of Jim’s teachers is here and I think you should come by” she whispered.

“Okay, I’ll be there” she smiled at her phone.

“Love you”

“Love ya”

“Can I help you with something more?” Randy spoke.

“No, thanks, '' Douxie smiled, making Y/n’s stomach turn. She doesn’t get nervous with customers anymore, they don’t seem humans to her, but something in Douxie made all the words get stuck in her throat.

“Thank you. Bye, Y/n”

“B-bye Douxie not Toby”

He left the store smiling.

Before she could completely recover Randy spoke again.

“You know, he came for strings last night”

“So?” Y/n didn’t follow.

He laughed “Unless he playing with a knife no one needs the amount of strings this dude buys”

She turned ever redder.

Steph was born in Oakland, California but was raised in Arcadia Bay, Oregon. After graduating from Blackwell, Steph moved to Seattle, Washington to study video game design but ended up being pulled into the art and music scene there, and teamed up with her then girlfriend Izzie to form the two-piece punk band Drugstore Makeup, with Steph on drums. The band eventually wound up in Haven Springs, Colorado playing at the local bar the Black Lantern. Steph ended up falling in love with the small town and its charm and decided to remain there. Her passion for music ended up landing her a job at Rocky Mountain Record Traders becoming both the store's manger and the local radio DJ.

A little bit about the buddies

They were made on October 2nd of 1979

when they were made they didn’t wear any clothing. In fact they were just plain Wood dolls with paper plate faces with some bow ties. The first doll to be made was Paige, then it was Cory, then it was Rocco, then finally Buck was made.

they were made by Margo Ashlyn’s father for her birthday (her dad sometimes spoils her with handmade dolls).

they actually know nothing about the Greywinders. The only people they know is the brothers because Margo always brings them to the toy stores to look at the so called “lifelike” toys that Martin makes

Their main role in the Buddie Arcade is that they perform songs to customers. They can perform any genre of music the customers like and are asked to not interrupt the toys while performing.

They don’t really know much about the Arcadia but they do have a close friendship with the Toy pals (and some of the ocs that I made for the Arcadia)

Their not at all harmful and they are openly kind to everyone in the Arcade.

Rachel has dated both men and women in the past canonically (more men overall), but I headcanon that she has preference towards women. She just... feels more comfortable around women. Also, unfortunately, Rachel falls into that bisexual stereotype of not being entirely faithful to her partner (who was Chloe at the time). Granted, it was more emotional cheating then physical cheating (except for a few kisses she shared with Nathan whilst they were both high), but... it happened and it kinda pissed Chloe off and made their relationship more strained

Dating Rachel Amber would be a chaotic and exciting affair. Be prepared to wake up at 3 in the morning to crash the local gas station, steal a few candy bars and/or instant coffees, and find an abandoned building to sit on it's roof and watch the stars fade into a sunrise. And then the next day it's cave exploring on the beach and the day after that it's breaking into Blackwell at night to go skinny dipping in the pool. She would keep you on your toes 24/7.

Rachel fucked around with Nathan Prescott for a bit during her freshman year of high school and then again when she was a senior. At first, it was a friendship turned tentative romance brought on by a mutual interest in the arts, then it got broken off during their sophomore year. But by their senior year, the teenagers were brought back together by the clawing desire to have someone who fucking UNDERSTANDS what it's like to have a father that's let you down and who is never going to change. The drugs made the connection stronger, even as many of Rachel's other connections discouraged the relationship. It wasn't an unhealthy romance, but it was obvious that something was gonna give eventually. A relationship built on suffering was never meant to last...

Rachel started officially dating Chloe in her sophomore year. Chloe was Rachel's rock, keeping her from flying to close to the sun, and Rachel was Chloe's angel, keeping her aloft even as the world crashed down around her. Rachel and Chloe would hang out in American Rust every single day, talking about everything from favorite bands to shitty home lives. Chloe's truck was where they talked, but occasionally they'd chill in the boat as well. Chloe also got into the habit of carrying a gun with her after the incident with Damon. Rachel and Chloe did take that lumber train all the way up to Seattle one time, sauntering through the city as they walked into every furniture store and pretended to pick out furniture for their apartment and twelve dogs. Dinner would be shitty subs that they ate on the train, holding hands as the trees zoomed by and guitar music played between them...

...but Chloe wasn't enough for Rachel. You see, Rachel needed to be free and Chloe was too stuck in her suffering to even consider a future with Rachel. Sure, in time Chloe could get there, but Rachel wanted that future NOW. Which is why she gravitated back to Nathan, because his family and wealth could be her ticket out of Arcadia Bay (and also because she related to him a bit too much). If only he could grow a pair and cut ties with his shitty fucking parents, but nope. He, too, was not enough for Rachel. Frank had a vehicle, he could get her places in a heartbeat... But he was volatile, too dependent upon drugs to give a shit about this reality. He was content in Arcadia Bay, just like Chloe and just like Nathan... But Rachel FUCKING WASN'T. She needed to get out Get Out GET OUT and be free... And unfortunately that's when Mark Jefferson stepped into the picture...

Lillian is the sweet, bubbly cheerleader, Oscar's on the football team. They met at practice one evening and make googly eyes at each other across the field. This song plays when they start talking, hanging out like going to the movies, or to a park, or to an arcadia and crap buuuuuuuuuut this version plays-

At the end of the montage because it cuts to Lillian smiling all dazed at one of those old music stores that used to be in every mall?

So the daydream cuts to "The La's- There she goes" by the end of the song and it sounds kind of warped and the camera is pulling out of Lillian’s face as she's grinning with headphones on and that's the sound coming from the headphones before she takes them off because it turns out to be bothered by her friends because LIKE EVERY ROM COM MUSIC TRANSITION EVER we were just getting a pov of her happy place.

The daydreams usually bright and colorful and fast paced. She has so many iconic looks during this song its criminal.

JENNAS WORK OUT SONG.

Everytime before it starts, I imagine GAME (the agency she works for) goes to her telling her they need her for a "special mission". The issue is, for some reason, Jenna hasn't been using her powers for a while. Usually because she's in Townsville for another mission and has to disguise her special abilities.

The song starts with her being kind of rough with her skill. She's struggling to get up early. Her grades aren't the prettiest. She's dropping weights. She gets the pokey pokey during fencing, and karate lands her on her butt.

Usually, by the first pre chorus she decides to pull out the textbooks, and start from there. She's focusing on her study and then by the chorus she gets a paper back in class with an A+

BY THE SECOND VERSE, she's in the gym. She's doing those rope things

Awe yeah. Now she's getting into it. She's punching the punching bag, deadlifting the squats, perfecting her sword swing

WAKING UP ON TIME FOR PRACTICE.

By the second pre- chorus her fencing has gotten so good, the opponent who first tagged her, gets tagged

And when her opponent takes off their mask, first she looks all out of breath, sweaty and taken aback, but then she gives an equally out of breath, sweaty, Jenna a smile of sportsman ship.

Now Jenna is stepping her game up.

The study is more extreme, but she can handle it as a hyper focused superhuman. The workouts are more extreme as well. She's lifting impossible weights, her fighting is more fluid and agile. She's become the epitome of hard work. Until the last chorus

She's outside, in a sports bra and shorts. You can see the puff of her breath as she stretches. It's an easy cool, gray morning.

She's hooking something up to the front of train rails.

The daydream cuts to a kid playing outside by themselves. He's boredly sucking on a lolipop. The ground is suddenly shaking, startling the kid. When the child looks over their shoulder-

MMX Code: Crimpphire World Building Part 2 - Abel City

I'll finally be able to talk about the other city that was the start of the main focus, but it waned after it was nuked by Sigma. Abel City. If you wanna see the one on Mega City, you can see it here

NEW CHAPTER ON AO3

Now I was thinking it could be Arcadia, since that took place in the Archie Comics, but I have been planning since 2019 for it to be Abel City, since that was implemented in the Day of Sigma OVA. And that’s going to be included in the AU, so checks out~.

Without further ado- let’s get on with what Abel City would be like for the AU~.

First, we look at the “Mysterious Gloree” Woods Preservation Center!! There are places in the country of Glockthain that preserve many woods in 21XX, and Abel city is one of them. Unfortunately, it gets damaged in the missile attack Sigma launched onto the city

Then we have The Answer Bar and Club!! It’s a place Zero liked to go with his unit after a good job well done. He hardly ever saw the point in going to a bar, but he liked having fun. He found more of a reason to go when X started acing his ranks and going up, and being at Rank B by the time Day of Sigma Arc rolled around

Shushiko restaurant is next, and of course of the name, it’s a sushi restaurant~. It’s a conveyor belt restaurant too~. X and Zero like going there every once in a while, again before the missile attack hit Abel City

And then we have Arthur Cain Park. A park dedicated to our loveable Dr Cain. And yes, his first name is Arthur in this AU, which I felt fit~. Maybe I can make a separate headcanon to explain my thought process about it, if you guys would like~

And if we can direct your attention to another place called “Pockets of Time Antiques”. A store Xev went to with Dr Cain before he became a hunter. Since X was very interested in old things from the past, Cain decided to indulge him more into that, and music boxes caught his interest more than anything else in the world. They still made them in his time, but they weren’t made as much as they were back in the 19th and 20th centuries. The 21st still had music boxes, but they aren’t made with much care as they were back in those days.

Going into Maverick Hunter territory, Abel City Maverick Hunter HQ and its Base Landing Pad were quite a building. Of course, you’ve seen it in the OVA, it’s towering high in over 30 stories and sporting the Maverick Hunter logo up at the top. And it has a flat top as well for helicopters and Hunters that fly, like Storm Eagle to land onto. Of course, they have to be authorized to land on HQ but they are allowed to land as such with that in mind

And then there are the three schools located around Abel City. The Elementary School of Trinity, holding Grades k-6, Eagle Mountain Junior High School, housing grades 7-9, and Frozen Promise High School, housing grades 10-12. Not to mention there’s a community college and university combo building called Holy Cypress.

Now to address if there’s a holding facility with the HQ. Which there is, except it’s a death row facility called Nightmare Max Security Penitentiary. It’s something taking place where termination of Mavericks were the only option at the time before Abel City was nuked with missiles. Later on in the story, it’s more considered to give Mavericks another chance other than termination thanks to, of course, X.

Lastly, we have the Gentle Oak Memorial Park. There, they held many fallen bystanders and Hunters in very gruesome Maverick attacks, and there is a program that helps pay respects to those who’ve fallen. Idk what they would be called but I’m sure there would be at least a significant name for their efforts to be remembered.

My first ever Tales of Arcadia OC

I’ve got my ideas for an OC for a fanfic that I am currently working on. So I decided to just put it out there.

The name of my OC is Duncan Finlay, a Scottish boy, attending Arcadia Oaks High as a senior at the age of 18. Oh, and he’s also going to be the Trollhunter, mainly because it will make things easier for me for what I am going to do to him. (see my reimagining for the Triumbric stones and the Eclipse armor to get an idea) (also, I think he might have become a self-insert so… suffer, bitch! suffer!! (no shade at others who make self-inserts, I'm fine with that.))

I took some inspiration from Macbeth from the play by Shakespeare and the real-life King Duncan, along with Fionn Mac Cumhaill(pronounced Finn MacCool) for Duncan’s character. Speaking of which, I got the idea for Duncan’s name from the real-life King Duncan I. He was the king before Macbeth and wasn't the best king as he was young, weak, and not great at leading. His titles was “the sick” or “the diseased” and that instantly sold me on naming my OC: Duncan because of what I have in store for him.

Because I can’t art (or at least, art without it making me cringe (and if it makes me cringe, I don’t want anyone else to look at it )) here’s a description of him. Duncan has straight blonde hair that’s a bit messy and short at the back than it is at the front. He has a stubble on his chin, trying to grow a goatee that would cover his chin. His eyes are grey and has a pale skin color. He stands at about 5'11'' to 6 feet tall and is mostly slim yet has some muscle on him, but not much for you to think he’s got any abs. Usually, he wears a whitish-grey t-shirt with black pants that have a thick white line on each side.

Now, let me tell you about his troll form(half-troll if you wanna get technical). The colors of his body is similar to labradorite as that is what I believe the Daylight Stone is based on because, in the metaphysical world, it is said to be one of the most powerful protectors (put a pin in that) (firemountaingems.com/resources/encyclobeadia/gem-notes/gmstnprprtslbrd) and it’s a stone of magic and mystery and it is said to be a stone of change (friendsnyc.com/blogs/news/witchy-ways-labradorite-crystal-meaning-uses). 

As a troll, he’s about 8 feet tall, his skin is predominantly blue (with some other colors here and there) and his hair becomes white. Side note, his hair being blonde as a human and it being white as a troll is a reference to Fionn Mac Cumhaill (a great warrior in irish myth) where Fionn means white or light-hued and is usually what you refer to someone who has blonde hair, and how some myths believed he got this name because his hair was turning prematurely white. As a troll, his hair becomes softer, he grows some sideburns and a full goatee. He grows more hair on the back of his neck, connected to a large spot of hair on the top part of his back that slims down as you go down his back and some hair on his shoulders, along with some chest hair that extends down his stomach. He’s also got a thick line of hair on the side of the forearm that starts below the elbow and ends above the wrist. His horns start at the top part of his forehead and curve back into a crescent shape. The color of his horns are a dusty grey and the tips start to become a pale green. Duncan has carvings on his troll body. However, normally, carvings on a troll’s body have a darker, faded color of their stone-skin; Duncan’s carvings are black that can glow bright blue. He also has a black spot in the shape of the Eye of Gunmar at the area of his right eye, which only the outline of it can glow. As of right now, I don’t have a reference to what his markings look like but I’ll work on it.

Before he became the Trollhunter, there was nothing much to say about Duncan, he was a good guy who likes to go on for walks as he listens to music, he does good in school, he never did any drugs or disobeyed anyone, he was the example of a well behaved person. Even though he’s a good guy, he never went out of his way to make any friends, or go to any parties. Because of this, he felt like his life was going nowhere, a blank slate where others tell him what to do. That was until he wound up being in the presence of Kanjigar’s death during one of his early morning walks. Duncan went down to the pile of rocks and picked up the amulet.

During his time as the Trollhunter, he began making friends, he felt like he was doing something with his life, he could finally release all his pent up frustration he gathered over the years through training. For the first time in a long time, he felt like he had a purpose for living. For the first time in a long time, the smile on his face wasn’t forced. For the first time in a long time, he was happy. And to him, it was all thanks to the amulet.

The reason why Merlin turned Duncan into a troll was not because “Your humanity is not enough”, but because his soul was corrupted, and he needed to be purified and his body to be turned into something that had a natural defense against evil, spiritual, forces. The purification process left Duncan’s soul quite broken, with a bunch of missing pieces being replaced by spiritual energy. With such a radical change to his soul, the Amulet could not tell if Duncan really was him and rejected him altogether. This little action inadvertently caused Duncan to believe he was no longer Duncan. He was no longer Human and he couldn’t be a troll as trolls turn to stone in daylight, where he can just walk around in it freely. He felt like he was a demon, an abomination that goes against nature. Duncan was alone.

Duncan subconsciously knew that his soul was being corrupted, the consciousness did not pick up on this fact. This subconscious knowledge caused him to develop a fear, a nightmare, where he is in the Darklands, seated on the dark throne, wearing the same kilt as Gunmar and wearing a looped necklace of skulls. At his feet, the beheaded remains of his human companions he made, along with the shattered remains of his troll friends. The skin color of his right eye has been turned to red, similar to a 3rd degree burn. His right eye lid is charcoal black and the eye itself looked just like Gunmar’s. As he is seated upon the dark throne, the Gumm-Gumm army are gathered at the throne room, chanting: “Long live the new Gumm-Gumm king! All hail Duncan the Red!”

Mega Man Zero 3 Part 1: The Devil Reploid

Ok so Mega Man Zero 2 was a pretty damn solid game

Zero 3 is one of the best Mega Man games in general

First off: you no longer need to upgrade your skills over time, you already have all your moves from the start

The Cyber Elf system has been reworked: now you always have with you your entire collection of Cyber Elves (which will create balancing issues later in the game tbf but that’s for later).

Satellite Elves are 2 Elves that you can equip at the same time that will not knock points off of your end level score, some are Satellites from the start while others have to be made such by feeding them E Crystals

Now throughout stages and dropped by enemies are Secret Disks, which either contain Cyber Elves, E Crystals or character bios

This new Cyber Elf system grants you way more freedom and allows you to be way more creative with them

And as you’ll see later there are new types of upgrades for Zero in store

The Volcano level is very tough but also very slick and fun (that last section is going to kill you dozens of times I assure you). The Residential level is cool because if you have the Fire Chip you can burn away the plants, discovering hidden passages and shortcuts

Also I can’t get over how this level’s music track has guitars that genuinely sound real. On a GBA!

Fun fact: the main 8 bosses of this game are called Weil’s Numbers.

This is actually a reference to how Robot Master numbering works in Japanese: you see the term “Robot Master” was coined in the US, in Japan they have always been called Light/Wily Numbers.

Also fun fact: the reason why these guys start out in a humanoid form but then turn into monstrous robots is because they were originally the Eight Gentle Judges of Neo Arcadia who, according to external materials, were the ones who banished Dr.Weil away from civilization. Weil has brainwashed them and turned them into war machines. I guess this is his way of getting back at them

Oh and we finally meet Dr.Weil!

BROWS ARCHED, glancing to the other female after saying goodbye to her boyfriend. blue eyed demon pressed a few fingers to her lips, licking at them briefly as curiosity overcame her, recollecting that companion had been talking to him prior. alina had assumed they were just talking music or the like due to the n a t u r e of the store... but perhaps they were friends. a fact that wouldn't surprise the blonde, douxie was friends with pretty much anyone. a heart of gold, a love for people... there was a reason one could describe him as h e r o i c. hand pulled away. "who's asking? been a bit but not that long. long enough to date him, i guess." she could have met him far sooner... but despite the lifespans ( and the other thing with her mom and his childhood... ), they hadn't run into each other until the strzyga had found her way to arcadia.

I’ve seen Shibuyala before but I didn’t know what type of store it was till I walked by the new location at the Shops at Santa Anita. Think of the Japanese cosmetics and skin care products you see at places like Tokyo Central, Mitsuwa, Takashima, and Maneki Neko. It’s a J-beauty store but they also have Japanese snacks, Japanese vending machines, plush toys, etc. I didn’t recognize most of the brands but I did recognize the Sanrio characters, Anpan Man, Pokemon, etc.

The store is bright with pink dogs and kawaii items everywhere you turn. There’s an extensive selection of beauty face masks. You’ll also find imported bags of KitKat, slippers, seat cushions, blankets, keychains, hair accessories, pens, etc.

The shelves are lit too. They play lively Japanese music.  It feels like you’re shopping in Japan. Sign up for the rewards program. 

I did notice that they had a lot of employees who seem to follow you to watch you.

HOMO ARCADIUS

(Early Primate on the continent of New Arcadia)

Homo Arcadius are an extinct species of archaic humans who lived in New Arcadia until about 40,000 years ago. The reasons for their extinction are disputed. Theories for their extinction include demographic factors such as small population size and inbreeding, competitive replacement, interbreeding and assimilation with modern humans, climate change, disease, or a combination of these factors.

It is unclear when the line of Homo-Arcadians split from that of modern humans; studies have produced various intervals ranging from 315,000 to more than 800,000 years ago. The date of divergence of Homo-Arcadians from their ancestor H. Heidelbergensis is also unclear. The oldest potential Homo-Arcadian bones date to 430,000 years ago, but the classification remains uncertain. Homo Arcadians are known from numerous fossils, especially from after 130,000 years ago. The type specimen, Arcadian 1, was found in 1856 in the Sawyer Valley in present-day Baralsville. For much of the early 20th century, Arcadian researchers depicted Homo Arcadians as primitive, unintelligent, and brutish. Although knowledge and perception of them has markedly changed since then in the scientific community, the image of the unevolved caveman archetype remains prevalent in popular culture.

Homo Arcadian technology was quite sophisticated. It includes the Mousterian stone-tool industry and ability to create fire and build cave hearths, make adhesive birch bark tar, craft at least simple clothes similar to blankets and ponchos, weave, go seafaring through the Oswego Sea, and make use of medicinal plants, as well as treat severe injuries, store food, and use various cooking techniques such as roasting, boiling, and smoking. Homo Arcadiams made use of a wide array of food, mainly hoofed mammals, but also other megafauna, plants, small mammals, birds, and aquatic and marine resources. Although they were probably apex predators, they still competed with cave bears, cave lions, cave hyenas, and other large predators. A number of examples of symbolic thought and Palaeolithic art have been inconclusively attributed to Homo Arcadians, namely possible ornaments made from bird claws and feathers or shells, collections of unusual objects including crystals and fossils, engravings, music production, and Issan cave paintings contentiously dated to before 65,000 years ago. Some claims of religious beliefs have been made. Homo Arcadians were likely capable of speech, possibly articulate, although the complexity of their language is not known.

Compared with modern humans, Homo Arcadians had a more robust build and proportionally shorter limbs. Researchers often explain these features as adaptations to conserve heat in a cold climate, but they may also have been adaptations for sprinting in the warmer, forested landscape that Homo Arcadians often inhabited. Nonetheless, they had cold-specific adaptations, such as specialised body-fat storage and an enlarged nose to warm air (although the nose could have been caused by genetic drift). Average men stood around 165 cm (5 ft 5 in) and women 153 cm (5 ft 0 in) tall, similar to pre-industrial modern humans. The braincases of men and women averaged about 1,600 cm3 (98 cu in) and 1,300 cm3 (79 cu in) respectively, which is considerably larger than the modern human average. The Homo Arcadian skull was more elongated and the brain had smaller parietal lobes and cerebellum, but larger temporal, occipital, and orbitofrontal regions.

The total population of Homo Arcadians remained low, proliferating weakly harmful gene variants and precluding effective long-distance networks. Despite this, there is evidence of regional cultures and thus of regular communication between communities. They may have frequented caves and moved between them seasonally. Homo Arcadians lived in a high-stress environment with high trauma rates, and about 80% died before the age of 40. A 2010 genome project's draft report presented evidence for interbreeding between Homo Arcadians and modern humans. It possibly occurred 316,000 to 219,000 years ago, but more likely 100,000 years ago and again 65,000 years ago. Homo Arcadians also appear to have interbred with Neaderthals, a different group of archaic humans, in Siberia. Around 1–4% of genomes of modern Mew Arcadians is of Homo Arcadians ancestry.
