𝑺𝒑𝒂 𝒏𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕/𝑽𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒂𝒏𝒏𝒆 𝑴𝒊𝒆𝒅𝒆𝒎𝒂

Viv had been away for almost two weeks on international duty with the Netherlands, and though it wasn't the first time you'd been apart, it didn't make it any easier. The flat felt empty without her, her quiet presence always grounding you in a way nothing else could. So when she finally texted to say her flight had landed and she'd be home soon, you knew you wanted to make her return special.

You spent the day preparing. Viv loved simple things—she didn't need grand gestures, but you wanted her to feel how much you missed her. Her favorite dinner was first on the agenda: pasta, specifically your creamy mushroom and spinach recipe that she always asked for. The scent of garlic and herbs filled the kitchen as you stirred the sauce, glancing at the clock every few minutes.

The table was set with two plates and candles that cast a soft, flickering glow over the room. You kept it casual, knowing Viv would probably want to stay in her travel clothes, but you still wanted it to feel romantic. By the time you heard her key in the door, your heart leapt with excitement. You wiped your hands on a kitchen towel, hurrying to the entrance to greet her.

Viv stepped inside, looking as tired as you expected after hours of travel. Her duffle bag hung off one shoulder, her glasses slipping down her nose slightly. But the moment she saw you, her face lit up in that understated, quiet way you loved so much.

"Liefje," she said softly, her voice carrying the faintest rasp from talking and shouting on the pitch.

You stepped forward, wrapping your arms around her waist and burying your face in her chest. She dropped her bag immediately, pulling you close. "I missed you so much," you mumbled into her hoodie.

Her chin rested against the top of your head as she squeezed you gently. "I missed you too. It felt so long this time."

You pulled back slightly to look up at her, reaching up and brushing a strand of hair from her face. "I've got a surprise for you."

She tilted her head, a faint smile tugging at her lips. "A surprise?"

"Come on," you said, grabbing her hand and leading her to the kitchen. When she saw the table, her eyes widened slightly.

"You made my favorite," she said, her voice soft with appreciation.

"Of course I did," you replied, squeezing her hand. "Thought you might want a proper welcome home."

Viv's gaze flicked from the table to you, and though she didn't say much, her eyes said everything. "Thank you, liefje. It's perfect."

You pulled out her chair for her, earning a small laugh. "Very fancy," she teased, sitting down and allowing you to scoot her closer to the table.

"Only the best for you," you shot back playfully, sitting across from her.

Dinner was relaxed, filled with quiet conversation about her matches and updates on your own training. Viv was never one to talk much, even when it was just the two of you, but the soft smile on her face as she ate was all the confirmation you needed that she appreciated the effort.

When you finished, you stood and started clearing the plates, but Viv caught your wrist gently. "No. I'll do it later."

"Later? You mean I'll do it," you teased, earning a small shrug from her.

"Maybe," she admitted with a smirk.

You laughed, leaning down to kiss her forehead. "Fine. But come on, there's more to your surprise."

Her brow furrowed slightly as she followed you into the bathroom, and when she saw the bubble bath waiting—candles flickering around the edges of the tub—her expression softened even more.

"You did all this?" she asked, her voice quiet.

"Yeah," you said, rubbing the back of your neck. "Thought you might need to relax after traveling. I made sure the water was really hot so it'd cool down in time for you to get in."

Viv stepped closer, wrapping her arms around you and pressing a kiss to your temple. "You're the best, you know that?"

"I do," you said with a grin as you looped your arms around her waist, earning a soft laugh from her as she playfully tried to push you away. You managed to grasp a handful of her T-shirt before she could, yanking her closer so her stomach was flush against your own. Viv huffed, and you stared up at her with a grin as she cupped your cheeks and leaned in to press a kiss to your forehead. Your eyes flutter shut at the feeling of her lips against your skin, and you hear her huff out a quiet laugh as she circled her arms around your neck.

You fall into her, and you rock side to side in a joined embrace for a quiet moment. You widen your stance slightly when Viv leans a good portion of her weight against you, trailing your hand up and down her back as she nuzzled her nose into your neck. After a second, you reluctantly pulled away, not wanting the bath to get cold.

"Are you getting in with me?" she asked, already pulling her hoodie over her head.

You hesitated for a moment, and she raised an eyebrow. "You can't set this up and then just watch me enjoy it."

"Alright, alright," you relented, laughing softly as you started undressing too.

The bath was warm, the bubbles almost overflowing the edges of the tub as you both sank in. Viv leaned back against you, her head resting on your shoulder as you wrapped your arms around her middle.

"This is nice," she murmured, her voice relaxed.

"Yeah?" You smiled, the tips of your fingers trailing lightly over her stomach.

"Mhm. Perfect," she said, tilting her head slightly to press a kiss to your jaw. You leaned your head down slightly as she pulled away, and Viv smiled, allowing your lips to meet in a tender kiss.

You stayed like that for a while, the warmth of the water and the quiet intimacy washing away the stress of being apart. When the water started to cool, you helped Viv out and wrapped her in a towel, earning a soft chuckle. "You're spoiling me tonight." She mused, and you simply cupped her cheeks and pressed a kiss to the tip of her nose before turning her around so she facing away from you.

You pulled her hair out of the bun it was in, running your fingers through the slightly tangled strands before wrapping your arms around her waist. Viv leaned back into you, her hands resting over your own that had come to rest on her stomach. You rise up on your tippy toes to hook your chin over her shoulder.

"Give me ten minutes and then meet me in the living room, okay?"

Viv raised an eyebrow, but nodded, watching as you hastily grabbed a towel before scurrying out of the room. After scrambling into some clothes -one of Viv's shirts and some comfy shorts- you set up a little impromptu spa session the living room, finishing just in time for Viv to appear. She was clad in one of your oversized hoodies that hung to about mid thigh, and when she lifted a hand to push her glasses up her nose, the hoodie lifted, and you could see she wasn't wearing any shorts.

Before you could dwell on it, she seemed to notice your little set up and tilted her head to the side in confusion.

"What's all this?" She asked.

"Pampering," you said simply, gesturing for her to sit on the couch.

She hesitated for just a moment. “You don't have to do all this, you know," she mumbled as she sat, though she didn't make any effort to stop you as you pulled off her glasses and set them onto the coffee table.

"I want to," you said firmly, grabbing the cleanser. "Now sit still and let me take care of you."

Viv sighed softly, her bashfulness evident as she tilted her head back slightly. "You're too good to me," she muttered.

You smiled, brushing a stray strand of hair away from her face. "That's the point, baby. Close your eyes."

She obeyed, her long lashes fluttering shut as you pumped a small amount of cleanser onto your fingers. You leaned in, gently massaging it into her skin. Her face scrunched up slightly at first, but she relaxed after a moment, her shoulders dropping as you worked.

"This okay?" you asked softly, your fingers gliding along her cheekbones.

Viv nodded, her lips curving into a faint smile. "It feels nice," she admitted.

"Good," you murmured, grabbing a damp cloth to wipe off the cleanser. "Hold still." You warned, gently cupping her face.

She flinched slightly at the cool cloth but didn't protest, her eyes opening briefly to watch you with quiet fascination. You couldn't help but chuckle at her expression, which only made her blush.

"Stop looking at me like that," she muttered, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Like what?" you teased, dabbing at her nose gently.

"Like I'm... I don't know," she said, waving a hand vaguely. "Like I'm something special."

"You are something special," you said, leaning in to kiss her cheek.

Viv huffed softly, her blush creeping down her neck as she averted her gaze. "You're impossible."

"And you love me for it," you said with a grin, grabbing the toner. You patted it onto her skin with gentle hands, taking care to cover every inch of her face. Viv stayed quiet, her eyes darting between your face and your hands as you worked. When you reached for the sheet mask, she eyed it warily.

"Do I really need that?" she asked, her lips twitching into a small pout.

"Yes," you said firmly, unfolding the mask. "It's hydrating, and you'll thank me later."

Viv groaned but leaned back, letting you press the mask onto her face. She flinched again at the cool sensation, muttering something in Dutch under her breath.

"You're so dramatic," you teased, smoothing the edges of the mask down.

"This feels weird," she mumbled through the mask, her voice muffled but undeniably pouty.

"You'll survive," you said, laughing softly. "Now, just sit still and let it do its magic."

Viv crossed her arms, clearly feeling self-conscious. She glanced at her reflection in the blank TV screen and groaned. "I look ridiculous."

"You look adorable," you corrected, leaning in to kiss her shoulder.

Viv grumbled something unintelligible but didn't argue, instead leaning against you slightly as you wrapped an arm around her shoulders. For the next fifteen minutes, you sat together in comfortable silence, your fingers tracing lazy patterns on her arm as the mask worked its magic.

When it was time to remove it, Viv tilted her head up toward you, her trust evident in the way she stayed completely still. You peeled the mask off carefully, revealing her now-glowing skin.

"Beautiful," you said softly, brushing a thumb across her damp cheek.

Viv's rolled her eyes as she ducked her head. "You're biased."

"Am not," you said with a grin, grabbing the moisturizer. "Close your eyes again."

She obeyed, her face softening as you gently smoothed the moisturizer into her skin. You took your time, savoring the way she relaxed under your touch.

When you were done, you sat back and admired your work. "There. Perfect."

Viv opened her eyes, giving you a small, shy smile. "Thank you," she said quietly, her voice filled with affection.

"You're welcome, baby," you replied, leaning in to kiss her softly. "Now, onto the next step."

Before she could protest, you grabbed a bottle of nail polish and gestured for her to extend her hands.

"What are you doing?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Painting your nails," you said simply.

Viv groaned but complied, holding out her hands reluctantly as she threw her bare legs over your lap. "You're really enjoying this, aren't you?"

"Absolutely," you said with a grin.

As you worked, Viv watched you quietly. "You're good at this," she murmured after a while, her voice soft.

"I've had practice," you replied, not looking up from her nails.

Viv's lips curved into a small smile as she leaned back against the couch, her legs still resting comfortably across your lap. When you finished, you held up her hand to admire your work.

"Perfect," you said, your tone full of pride. Viv hummed in agreement, a small grin tugging at her lips. Grabbing her glasses from the coffee table, you slid them back into her face, watching as she blinked to adjust to actually being able to see again. You playfully poked her nose, laughing at the way she momentarily goes cross eyed before gently slapping your hand away.

"Lay down." She gave you a not so gentle nudge, and you rolled your eyes before complying, resting your head on the arm of the couch. You expected her to settle against you, but instead, she shifted until she was lying on top of you, her head tucked into the crook of your neck and her arms around your waist.

"Comfy?" you asked as you ran your fingers through her hair, fingertips grazing her scalp.

"Very," she mumbled, her voice muffled but full of content.

You craned your neck slightly to look at her, and Viv tilted her head to glance up at you.

"Careful," she teased, a small smirk forming. "Don't want to count how many chins you've got like this."

Your mouth dropped open in outrage. "Right, thanks babe. So kind of you to point that out."

Viv laughed softly, her shoulders shaking as she tightened her grip around your waist. "You love me."

You rolled your eyes, leaning down to kiss her forehead. "Yeah, I do."

"I love you too, liefje," she murmured, her voice warm and soft.

ahh you're welcome !! and yeah it is totally fair, these mushrooms can be harder to find and pricier... but mayhaps every now and again we allow to treat ourselves hehe :) if anyone is interested i’m happy to write up a recipe for it!

re: recipes.....are you into mushrooms? i have a great mushroom dish i make , kind of like a... warm mushroom bruschetta? idk how to call it but basically various mushrooms (oyster and shiitake and cremini and button are my faves!) and sundried tomato sauteed with garlic and miso and onion and spinach served on toasted sourdough ?? i make it with parmesan on top but you can use vegan parmesan or none at all!

✍️ ok as a mushroom enjoyer i am taking notes. i almost never buy mushrooms anymore because trader joe's is severely lacking in that department but this is tempting me to make a special trip somewhere. thank you for sharing <3

#my gf hates mushrooms so i don't make it very often #however our roommate loves mushrooms so when em is away we have feast nights with things we like and she doesn't lmao #oh i forgot about the MISO !!!!!!#i cant believe i forgot it is an essential part of the flavour <3 #anyway if i do end up formulating a recipe i will make it properly but usually i just follow my heart #recipes

Mithrun x Reader

Right. So after canon he heads back to Melini (with you, of course) to scout out monsters and demons with his side hustle of making noodles! So as a noble yourself, you follow him to help achieve his dreams!

However, Mithrun is still ticked off at the part where reviving isn’t a plausible option after death, so he’s extremely careful with you. So much so that after a month or so with you trailing with him on his search for monsters, he tosses you in the noodle shop (with the land he had claimed with his noble blood).

At this point, he’s been so surrounded in his want for monster/demon blood that he hasn’t exactly made any progress with the noodle making… and well, neither have you. So there you sat, alone in a big restaurant, with no customers at all, no one to keep you company or to keep you entertained!

So that’s when you decide to try to cook noodles on your own!

You grabbed as many how to guide’s you could from books all over your country, which included recipes from the western territories all the way to the eastern islands! You even scrounged up some old tattered papers from the ex-canaries, Senshi, and the trash.

Collecting herbs, grains, and whatever monster-like ingredients Laios sent to you through the mail.

You decided to keep most of your habits a secret from Mithrun, or at least as you can from him because you wanted to be the one to teach him when the day comes he wanted to pursue his other desire. You always schedule your time practicing for when he's away, and Mithrun being the man that he is always has a set pattern on doing things. Meaning he always came back home almost at the exact same time everyday.

The only other times he'd come home at a later time is when he gets lost, for he has the time of his life navigating the city streets. (This is rare because he likes using his teleportation magic a lot more than actually walking.)

So on this very special day, once you've decided your skills are up to the test, you served him home made noodles. Not only were they home made, so was the sauce/broth. You were quite proud of making such a delicious meal, now it was time to share your talent with your lover.

"Mithrun, wake up, I have a very special breakfast to share with you!" You say, pushing him back and forth from his sleeping state. You'd waken up hours earlier to prepare for this momentous occasion.

No response.

Maybe you should have planned the scheduling better? This was earlier than usual for the ex-captain to wake up... No! You were his partner, he should wake up for you!

"Mithrun wake up!!!" You groan loudly, stopping all your movements before shoving your face into his blanketed stomach, "Please please please please!"

With no words to utter, Mithrun begrudgingly arose from the bed, sitting right up to face you. You beamed with excitement as he looked to face you.

"Why don't you join me down at the resturaunt floor? I have set up something quite amazing down there." You put a finger to your chin and smile, "Plus I think you'll like it a lot!!"

Down the steps the two of you went, where in arrival was the bowl of noodles you had prepared only minutes before. They were served with scallions, mushrooms, a pantry load of seasonings, and whatever meat you had bought fresh from the market a day before.

"What is this?"

"It's noodles! That I made.. for you... 'cause you said you wanted to make them yourself and.... I can see where I messed up a little, but I did it so that I can help you in the future! When you wish to fufill your desire of noodle making!!!" You sheepishly say, a much smaller smile creeping up on your lips.

"I never said you messed up." He said smoothly, teleporting away from you and into the seat in front of the food. You follow closely behind him, sitting at the seat next to him.

"Go on, take a bite! It'll be all for nothing if we run out of time and you need to go out monster hunting." You tilt your head to the right, clasping your hands together.

He looks down at the meal in front of him, and his good eye flickers up and down between you and the noodles. After a few seconds past he picked up the nice utensils you placed next to the bowl and took his first bite.

"So how does it taste? Do you like it??!"

"I don't feel anything in particular for it." He murmurs calmly.

"Ah." Your world view shatters for a moment, before sucking in your pride, "So what makes you feel that way? I thought it was really good, but our tastes are quite different from each other..."

"It's a little too flavorful for me, but I'm... grateful that you spent so much time perfecting this for me. How long was it? A few months?"

"What!!? How did you know that I was..."

"You can't hide things from me, [name]. You'll never be able to succeed."

You stare at him for a second before collapsing on the table before you, "Arghh! I totally thought everything was going to go great, but as it turns out... Mithrun is just too good for me." You pull the bowl towards you, taking the utensils from Mithrun's hand, "And if you don't like it then you don't need to eat it."

"It's not my taste, but I don't mind. Please, I'd rather not leave any left overs, especially if it's a meal from you." His face seemed to soften as he said those few words, and your face reddened in response, letting out an "oh" as you correct your posture.

"Well then if you have time off anytime soon, you could stay here and I could teach you how to make your own noodles that suit your own taste. Then we could actually open the resturaunt to the people." You say sweetly, looking down at the food, watching it dissapear by each passing minute, "I'm sure every being here in Melini would love to eat food made by the hands of a noble. Maybe even the Canaries can home, I'm sure they'd enjoy a meal made by their captain."

"Mm... I'll stay here for today. My desire's growing after eating this d- uhm. Delicious meal you made for me." He states simply, putting the empty bowl and utensils to the side.

"Alright then." You get up from the seat next to him and take his hand, "I'll teach you everything I know." Another smile perks up on your lips as you pull him to the kitchen.

Mithrun in a kitchen. Who could've guessed?!

He's not very skilled at cutting, buthis use of magic fills in the void quite perfectly.

You help him a lot, which includes taking his hands in yours when he begrudgingly uses the knife.

He likes your touches but not the “weapon” in his hands.

You also teach him to pound the noodles, which you usually put lots of energy into, but for him not so much. You have to fill in for him most of the time.

There will come a day where Mithrun won’t go out on expeditions and instead stays with you in the restaurant, for a long time.

And to him, he wouldn’t want to spend his last few (hundreds of) years any differently.

sometimes people will pay mc to clean/cook for them. all are using it as an excuse to get a scent on you

epel appreciates home cooked meals, don't bother paying for ingredients, just use ones from his farm. he'll keep you company prefect

jade and floyd (who has taken to calling you his Cleaner Shrimpy) jade thinks it's cute to see you cook, he would love to see you swap recipes, learn your taste, do add extra mushrooms to his food please. floyd enjoys following you around while you clean and trying to mess things up so you can't leave. he always make jokes about lockin' you in. what do you meeeeaaannnn you have other clients? maybe he should bite you so they learn to stay away :) maybe he should lock you up right here :)

azul? come work for the mostro lounge! clean up the mess after work, only work for him, he'll pay you double just don't go spend time with others. why don't you start with his office and finish up after people leave. is what he would say if he lost all words the moment he gets to close to you.

jack is just helping a friend >:( don't get the wrong idea just hang out in the room when you're done, he does enjoy your cooking, he knows you'll make a great little mate and a great parent too, he does always compliment the chef.

riddle and vil will critique you but ultimately try to get you to stay

malleus follows you around while you clean all of diasomnia. he pays extra just to not clean savanna claw

sebek yells how you should be grateful to work for malleus, silver ears every meal with a smile and always compliments you and how he can tell you worked hard on it, lilia tries to have a cook off with you. you didn't have the heart to roast his cooking.

leona is used to the women hunting, cooking is almost like that, he'll pay you double is you drop the dragon, he'll say come over to clean but you're just a body pillow lol

ruggie uses those big old puppy dog eyes to get to give him a home cooked meal for free ninety nine.

by the end of it rook just pays to watch you go about your business in his space. it's creepy. but he always does write a 20 page thank you letter complimenting your skills, unless he decides to keep you in his nest ofc

trey wants to swap recipes remarking something about "well fed children", deuce is enamored with your cooking and raves about you to his mom, ace pretends not to care but will just throw his laundry at you for you to do, he tried to pay you in a hoodie of his but you refused to accept. carter says he'll make a post promoting your innovative idea but is trying to keep it to himself, he doesn't want some other stinky guy on you >:(

idia is to shy to ask but ortho has needed this for a while

jamil is thrilled when you too can cook together and try each others food, and you give him a break from cleaning after parties? kalon thinks it's a sign you love him that you offered (and his parents are thrilled to have a human work for him) and jamil gets to hang out with the cute little human and take a break? god send

eventually whoever gets the most from you is OBVIOUSLY a status symbol and will be shown off.

Oh, I love this, I talked before about Yuu getting a little cleaning and cooking side business going since a lot of guys suck at taking care of themselves, especially the well-off ones that prob had a maid take care of everything.

Jamil and Ruggie both need breaks/some help. Leona and Kalim are working these poor boys to the bone. Ruggie is def hounding you for leftovers.

I can imagine Idia is kind of embarrassed and might clean up or hide a few things before you come over, doesn't want you thinking he's gross. I'm picturing him in his web looking flustered as he pretends to act all focused on the game his playing on his tablet but he's actually just watching you clean and fueling his house waifu/husbando fantasies.

I would def run a hoodie tax for doing laundry.

Rook is another that would hide the things he doesn't want you to see before you come over to clean, not that there's much for you to do. He's very neat and organized but always looks for an excuse to get you into his nest. Probably offers you extra to scent a few things for him.

Cleaning for Leona...you know those cats that lie on the bed when you're trying to change the sheets and nap on the fresh from the drier clothes? He diffidently does that. He totally keeps trying to get you to only work for him and lays on you so you can't leave, threatening to charge him overtime doesn't deter him in the slightest. He also sticks close when you're cooking, the man loves food and wants to be fed by hand by you.

Oh man, Mal, Silver, and Sebek are so grateful when you take care of the cooking. Seb refuses to admit it though. You really need to keep an eye on everything, or else Lilia will sneak something into what you're making.

With the trouble that Ace and Deuce cause you're probably called to their dorm often to clean up some mess they made.

You would definitely get a lot of extra work from the octo trio, if it's not their rooms you're taking care of then it's help with the lounge. The eels are big-time fans of your cooking, but neither will leave you alone when you are trying to clean, and it makes the jobs take a lot longer. Not too bad if you're charging by the hour at least.

A vegetarian foody naming alternative mod by Spork!

Spork mod notes:

Ever since Showtime, The Sims 3 has allowed any Sim, regardless of their own traits, to learn and prepare the vegetarian versions of most of the meat dishes in the game. This is, of course, very useful for the friends and loved ones of vegetarian Sims, who have ever since been able to cook for their buddies and fully include them in parties and family meals! However, it also calls to the forefront how much of an afterthought the vegetarian meals must have been when they were added to the game -- every Sim now has recipe menu full of very similar pairs of meals, featuring oxymoronic options like "vegetarian fish". (You might assume, as is probably the intention, that that means "a vegetarian imitation of fish", but that characterizes these recipes as specialized substitutions -- the implication that you're having it because you're not having real fish -- which makes it somewhat odd that every meat-eating sim knows so many of them.) Now, I'm pretty sure there are ways to hide the extra meals (with NRaas, maybe?), but I didn't want that, because I do appreciate giving my Sims the option to cook vegetarian dishes where applicable, and to have more variety in their lives in general. I thought it would be a significant improvement if only the names of the vegetarian dishes were changed to make them more interesting and relevant. So! I learned how to make a string table mod so I could do that!

What This Mod Does This mod replaces the names of most of the vegetarian alternative dishes in the game to make them describe what each meal actually might be (based on research I did into common vegetarian substitutes for and variants of the original recipes), rather than what it's an imitation of. This makes them more distinct from the meat versions, which also gives an implicit reason why a meat-eating Sim might want to learn and prepare most of these dishes whether or not there are any vegetarians around. It also changes the name of one canon meat dish, Spaghetti, to Spaghetti and Meatballs, in order to make it more clearly a meat dish and distinguish it better from the vegetarian version. The changes I made are as follows:

Vegetarian Fish and Chips -> Batter-Fried Tofu Fillets and Chips

Veggi Rolls -> Mushroom and Avocado Rolls

Spaghetti -> Spaghetti and Meatballs

Spaghetti with Veggie Sauce -> Spaghetti with Tomato Sauce

Cheese Tofu Steak -> Cheesy Mushroom Melt

Vegetarian Grilled Salmon -> Grilled Eggplant Fillets

Tri-Tip Tofu Steak -> Grilled Portobello Mushrooms in Steak Sauce (I wanted "anchovy-free Worcestershire sauce" but it was too long already -- so imagine whatever type of steak sauce you prefer)

Vegetarian Dim Sum -> Vegetable Dumplings and Tofu Puffs

Stuffed Tursoykey -> Seitan Holiday Roast

Vegetarian Lobster Thermador [sic] -> Heart of Palm in Thermidor Sauce

Vegetarian Chili -> Four-Bean Chili

Tofu Dog -> Veggie Dogs (This admittedly goes against my general goal of making the recipes more descriptive, but this was by far the most common name for any example I could find of the type of food in question, whereas I couldn't find "tofu dog" in any context. Besides, it makes sense for such a processed food to be a little more vague about the ingredients.)

I left "Veggie Burger" and "Firecracker Tofu" alone, as veggie burgers are already common and well-known, and "firecracker tofu" is already evocative and descriptive.

My mod also corrects a couple of proofreading errors in the original vegetarian recipes. I fixed the spelling of "Thermidor" in "Heart of Palm in Thermidor Sauce", and made "Veggie Dogs" plural to match "Hot Dogs".

You'll see these changes in every context I could find where the game displayed the original names, including the names of the dishes themselves, the titles of the recipe books, and miscellaneous strings such as the dialogue you get when a vegetarian Sim refuses a challenge to a hot dog eating contest.

What This Mod Does Not Do This is not an ingredients mod -- the vast majority of the vegetarian substitute recipes use tofu as their primary or only ingredient, and I found that it was a tall order to make the recipes descriptive, distinct, and realistic if I limited myself to the same ingredient for everything. With that in mind, I allowed myself to choose names that don't necessarily match the in-game recipe. The result, though, is that a Sim will need to use tofu in order to make a cheesy mushroom sandwich or a grilled eggplant dish, even though that might not make too much sense. This isn't a problem for me, as I usually just pay for each meal at the fridge, so ingredients don't come into play much, but I can see how it might be annoying or confusing if your play style features ingredients more heavily, so it's something to note! (Something I've thought about, and could still do if anyone is interested, is make a little add-on package to rename "tofu" to something like "vegetable protein" to make it more broadly applicable, although I don't know whether most people would consider this better or worse.)

This mod also does not change the meshes or textures of any of the dishes, so they will also still look like the equivalent meat dish. I tried to describe each dish in a way consistent with its appearance, but there are limitations to this. There's no reason for your fancy heart of palm recipe to be in a fake lobster shell unless it is pretending to be lobster -- so some of these will still visually read as obvious imitations of the equivalent meat dish. I can only hope that I've presented them as interesting, meaningful imitations that will still appeal to your Sims in their own right!

Issues, Interactions and Other Mods This mod renames recipes from the base game, Showtime, and Supernatural, but it shouldn't be necessary to have either or both of the expansions -- the recipes from packs you're missing just won't show up in the game, so you won't see the renames.

Some of the recipe names in this mod are a little longer than the official ones in the game, which can cause some minor overlapping when a dish is spoiled, as seen below. In my testing, this never caused text to be fully covered or to become illegible, but I can't guarantee that to still be the case if you're using UI mods that change fonts or other formatting.

This mod replaces the English-language strings for the names of the dishes I changed and their recipe skill books, the dialogue for a vegetarian Sim refusing a hot dog eating contest, the level-up text for a vegetarian sim reaching level four in cooking, and the description of the wish for a pregnant sim to eat spaghetti and ice cream, and may conflict with any other mods that replace these strings. I'm not aware of any, but an example would be if you have a mod to correct the spelling of "Vegetarian Lobster Thermador" (which you won't need anymore, since "thermidor" is spelled correctly in my mod.)

(When I was making this mod, I also noticed strings in the game files that appeared to be for vegetarian versions of the World Adventures meat recipes. I updated them just in case they might appear in the game somewhere, but throughout my testing I was unable to find anywhere where these strings appeared in the game. I left the replacements in the mod anyway, in case they might be associated with content some other mod might unlock in the future or some similar edge case.)
