Ray Milland and Ann Todd in So Evil My Love (Lewis Allen, 1948)
Cast: Ray Milland, Ann Todd, Geraldine Fitzgerald, Leo G. Carroll, Raymond Huntley, Raymond Lovell, Martita Hunt, Moira Lister, Roderick Lovell, Muriel Aked. Screenplay: Ronald Millar, Leonard Spiegelgass, based on a novel by Joseph Shearing. Cinematography: Mutz Greenbaum. Production design: Thomas N. Morahan. Film editing: Vera Campbell. Music: William Alwyn.
So Evil My Love needs a better actress than the starchy Ann Todd to make its central premise work, that a respectable Victorian widow of an Anglican missionary would fall so hard for a handsome cad that she'd do anything from larceny to murder for him. It could also have used a more charismatic cad than Ray Milland in the role. We meet Olivia Harwood (Todd) on a ship returning to England from Jamaica, where she has buried her husband. When the ship's doctor asks her to help nurse some malaria patients on board, she agrees -- a little reluctantly, which is perhaps a sign that she's not as sweetly complaisant as she might be. One of the patients is traveling under the name Mark Bellis (Milland), which may not be his real name: He's an artist who makes his living by stealing valuable paintings and forging Rembrandts. A spark is lit between them, although we don't really see it because the actors have so little chemistry, and when they get back to London, Bellis makes his way to her doorstep. She owns a small house and lets out rooms, one of which he takes, though under the disapproving eye of her other tenant, the ostentatiously proper Miss Shoebridge (Muriel Aked). When Olivia allows Bellis to paint her, in an off-the-shoulder peasant blouse, she relaxes her defenses and passion blossoms -- or what passes for it in the screenplay if not on the screen. Meanwhile, Olivia makes contact with an old school friend, Susan Courtney (Geraldine Fitzgerald), who is unhappily married to the wealthy and domineering Henry Courtney (Raymond Huntley). Susan has confessed her unhappiness, and her love for another man, Sir John Curle (Roderick Lovell), in letters to Olivia. When the affair between Bellis and Olivia develops, he finds the letter and sees the possibility of blackmailing Courtney, who is in line for a peerage that would be derailed by scandal. Under Bellis's spell, Olivia gets deeper and deeper into a plot that turns lethal. There's potential for real heat in the story, but miscast leads and a talky script undo it.

No hard feelings but do you know what faces look like? Sorry but that's just ugly. Whoever worked on the new Muriel chapter could probably do better.
Yeah I think I know how face look like, having it all the time on my flesh skeleton as a mask.
First: I still didn’t play Muriel route.
Second: I have no idea who worked on that sprite, as Nix hydra have few art workers on their side.
But only by looks of tumblr and people being off by this new update I seen few screenshot from it and oh boy.. If you specificaly talk about that ‘crying face’ yes I am not gonna lie it really make me off just by that I first trought it was some prank or edit when my friend sent it to me. It 100% more or less look like some emoji from apps which its NOT how tears work. But I am sure you are not here to hear how it work and should be done, but let me tell you. That’s not how tear should be rolling down by your cheek. And it isnt that just one person seen this mistake/problem but many people point it out which is not really good look for artist workers in Nix hydra that this something like this happened and not being talk while it was tested.

* * * * LETTERS FROM AN AMERICAN
January 10, 2021
Heather Cox Richardson
Unbelievably, it was only a week ago—last Sunday—that we learned Trump had called Georgia’s Secretary of State and pressured him to change the results of the 2020 election. Trump demanded that Brad Raffensperger “find” the 11,780 votes Trump needed to win Georgia. The news of the attempt to get an election official to overrule the will of the people was astonishing: at the time, it was the worst domestic attack on our democracy ever, coming, as it did, from a sitting president.
At the time.
Over the past several days, the picture of what happened on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, has become clearer, and it’s bad. While Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser gave a press conference Wednesday night, there has been not a single official briefing from the White House, the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security, or Capitol Police.
The federal government has gone dark.
What we do know is that on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, egged on by Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani, Alabama Representative Mo Brooks, Don Jr., and especially Trump himself, Trump supporters stormed the Capitol just as Congress was meeting in joint session to confirm Democrat Joe Biden as our new president. They overpowered the Capitol Police—perhaps with the help of some of the officers—breached the doors, and smashed their way through the historic building, shouting for Vice President Mike Pence—whom Trump insisted was at fault for not overturning the count-- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and “traitors” who were counting the electoral votes for Biden. While many of the early pictures from inside the Capitol showed rioters gawking like tourists, ones released this weekend showed violent thugs, carrying plastic handcuffs and seeming to have information about where to find specific members of Congress. They breached the Senate chamber at 2:16, just a minute after the senators made it out.
The Capitol Police got the lawmakers to safety, but were not in control of the building. Lawmakers huddled quietly behind barricaded doors waiting for police that took hours to come. When they did arrive, they cleared the area and regained control of the Capitol. After janitors had cleaned the building, lawmakers counted the electoral votes that established Democrats Biden and Kamala Harris as the next president and vice president of the USA.
As videos have emerged and timelines been established, it has become apparent we came perilously close to seeing our elected representatives taken hostage or even executed on the makeshift gallows the rioters set up outside the building.
But here’s the thing: these were not outside insurgents; they were supporters of the Republican president. Trump enflamed the insurgents but he did not create them: years of demonizing Democrats and suggesting they must not be allowed to govern did that. As NPR reporter Kirk Siegler noted, Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy, infamous for years of standoffs with the federal government, wrote on Facebook that Trump “pointed towards Congress and nodded his head… [and said] go get the job done.” Republicans are now caught in a vise of their own making. They have to stand either with their own voters or with democracy.
The night of the attack, more than 100 Republican members of the House of Representatives and several senators, led by Josh Hawley (R-MO) and Ted Cruz (R-TX), continued to endorse Trump’s lies by voting to reject the electoral votes for Biden in key states. The next day, Trump’s supporters tried to argue that the rioters were “Antifa,” despite their Trump garb and the fact Trump invited them, incited them, urged them to go to the Capitol, and after the riot told them he loved them. (An AP investigation establishes that they were right-wing agitators.) When that didn’t take, supporters tried “whataboutism,” comparing the Black Lives Matter protests of this summer to the storming of the Capitol.
They are trying to rewrite the history of this week to downplay that we have suffered an attempted coup that killed at least five people, and that the people behind it are still in the highest levels of our government.
The realization that we are in the midst of a coup, abetted by Trump’s use of social media, prompted Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram to ban Trump permanently, and to take down QAnon accounts. That, not the Capitol attack and the murder of a police officer, has created outrage among Trump, who is allegedly “ballistic,” and Trump supporters. Republican lawmakers spent the weekend noting how many followers they were losing as Twitter took down QAnon, Nazi, and fake accounts. (Trump opponents noted that this was not actually a good thing to call attention to.) Parler has lost almost all of its supporting businesses and might go out of business itself.
Democrats are appalled by what Trump has wrought, and they are joined by plenty of Republicans. In the National Review, for example, Ed Whelan called the Capitol attack “an outrage that ought to have every genuinely patriotic American seething with anger.” He blamed Trump for inciting the attack, and said that “impeachment and conviction of Trump is an appropriate, and probably a necessary, response.”
In a powerful video, former Republican Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger called the Capitol attack the American equivalent to Kristallnacht, which marked the beginning of German Nazis’ systemic destruction of the Jews. To puncture the idea that the sort of behavior on display on Wednesday was manly, Schwarzenegger told the private story of his abuse at the hands of his father, who had been swept up in the Nazi movement in Austria, and celebrated the sword from his starring role in the 1982 film Conan the Barbarian as a symbol not of toxic masculinity but of democracy, tempered by adversity. He called on all Americans to rally around Biden and to work to make his administration a success.
White House appointees’ resignations show which way the wind is blowing. Trump’s former Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney took to Fox News Sunday to say he had no idea that people might actually do something like attack the Capitol. “People took him literally,” Mulvaney told MSNBC. “I never thought I’d see that.”
Similarly, the rioters themselves, once found and arrested, are either apologizing and saying they were swept up in the moment, or denying they were part of the mob. One man apologized for his “indiscretion.”
Both Marriott, the world’s largest hotel chain, and health insurer Blue Cross Blue Shield have suspended their donations to lawmakers who voted against the counting of Biden’s electoral votes late Wednesday or early Thursday morning. The anti-Trump Lincoln Project has promised to target companies that donate to any lawmakers who voted against the counting of the electoral votes. Hitting closer to Trump, Stripe, the vendor that handles online credit card payments for Trump’s campaign, has announced it will no longer handle his account. And tonight, the Professional Golfers Association of America Board of Directors took the 2022 PGA Championship away from Trump Bedminster, his New Jersey club.
At the end of last week, Democratic leaders set out a three-part plan to punish the president for inciting an insurrection. They gave Pence an option to begin the process of invoking the 25th Amendment, which, considering the president had tried to get him killed, was not necessarily a long shot. Pence refused. They gave McConnell the weekend to convince Trump to resign. Trump refused. They announced that, if both of those things failed, they would begin impeachment proceedings on Monday.
McConnell promptly noted that the Senate could not take up such a proceeding until the day before Biden’s inauguration at the earliest. He is bargaining. It is possible to hold an impeachment trial even after a president is out of office, but he knows that Biden does not want the beginning of his term crowded with more Trump business, especially as coronavirus is raging and Biden wants to get it under control. McConnell doesn’t want Republicans to have to vote either for or against the president because such a vote will slice the Republicans in two and make it clear that some of them stand for insurrection. In the Senate, only Republicans Mitt Romney (R-UT), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), and Pat Toomey (R-PA) have endorsed impeachment.
McConnell is hoping Pelosi will blink and the moment will pass.
She will not, and it will not. She notes, correctly, that the president is “an imminent threat” to “our Constitution and our Democracy,” and she is trying to give the Republicans cover to do the right thing. Tonight, she announced that the House tomorrow will begin proceedings on a resolution by Representative Jamie Raskin (D-MD) calling on Pence to mobilize the Cabinet to activate the 25th Amendment within 24 hours. If he declines, the House will turn to impeachment. She has asked for unanimous consent for the resolution to enable the Republicans to avoid a vote. If they refuse, the measure will go forward the next day anyway.
She also fired a shot across the bow of Republican lawmakers by asking her colleagues for their views on the third section of the 14th Amendment, the one that prohibits anyone who “shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion” against the United States, “or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof,” from serving in Congress.
As I watch Republican lawmakers try to slip away from the crisis they have made, I think of Black Capitol Police Officer Eugene Goodman, armed only with a nightstick, luring the insurgents in the wrong direction to buy the time Senators needed to escape with their lives.

jus die to be held by Muriel. imagine being really sleepy after a long day, sitting in front of the fireplace in his lil hut with some tea. and just cuddling up next to him, making slow movements when you rest your head on his shoulder, scoot closer to him, etc. and yes, the big mountian man blushes every time no matter if he was warned or not. jus quiet little chats because theres no reason to be realy loud. and we cant forget Inanna. of course, the loyal dowgo is right there with you two.
bonus if liek you fall asleep on him after a particularly tiring day. coz then he'll kinda stutter and his face would be so red. like trying to make sure youre awake n stuff. he's gotta ake a little while to do anthing other than stutter and contemplate life while loking into the fire. he'll look over a Inanna with a "what do i d o" face. Inanna is not too helpful though.
at some point, he'll scoop you up, making v e r y sure to keep you asleep because he really doesnt want to disturb you. he'll put you in his bed, brushing any stay hair out of your face. and at this point he curses his big friggin hands, its very hard to be delicate. depending on how far you two ae in the relationship, he'll either let you have the bed to yourself that night in fear of hurting you/disturbing you either that or he'll climb into bed and hold you in his arms, kissing your forehead and telling you softly how much he loves you.
just uh
just a thought

Can you do a (arcana) head cannon of their reactions to getting love letters from the MC? Please and thank you.
((This is so cute help me thank you for this beautiful suggestion imma cryyyy. PS, despite my introduction for Jules in this HC, I think he is brilliant and not just a ‘soft subby husband uwu’ he is a DOCTOR and he will be respected on this blog.))
So our wandering soft boi dom, Asra, recognizes your handwriting the second he sees it and his heart swells and before he knows it, he is reading the last half of your love letter through tears of joy - tears he is careful to keep away from this letter (that he has read through enough times to know it off by heart) because he is going to put it in a special box that he keeps important things in - such as Faust’s first shedding
Julian ‘The Drama Bitch’ Dev-whore-ak is  w e a k  when he receives it, he is at first oblivious to the sender but he slowly realizes it is very specific to the times you two have shared and he tries to keep his cool but he is not like the cool kids, he is clutching the letter to his heart and trying to force away the intrusive thoughts screaming at him that this is a prank. The words on that paper are his life’s blood now. Someone loves him back. Finally.
Our Countess and Savior Nadia Satrivana contains her thrill as she reads it because the Courtiers were in the room when Pasha delivered the letter in question. She was used to ridiculous, lavish, un-thoughtful gestures from Lucio, so a heartfelt letter (one from someone she loved, not the hundreds of Vesuvians she gets a day) has her heart soaring, she is going to pamper you for days, don’t ask how she knows its from you, she just does, its Noddy ffs.
The Official Best Boye Muriel avoids reading it at first, his nerves get the best of him. Inanna is the one who makes him read ( ‘Dad just read it you lil bish baby’ ) He reads it, again and again, his face getting redder and redder each time. Inanna looks up at him with a questioning whine and he nods “I know, I love them too.”
The real MVP Portia is giddy with excitement. “A letter? A LOVE letter? For me? From WHOMST?” She reads it every night trying to figure it out, because her job leaves little time during the day but she catches you out eventually and you better be expecting crying hugs. Happy crying hugs. When you ask her how she feels she bursts out her response of ‘Yes of course I feel the same, Pepi and I  A D O R E  you, silly.’ Thus begins your love affair with the best babe in all the land.
Luci-HOE the Goat Man lets it go straight to his head, he only reads it the once but stores it away for bad nights. He is slow on the uptake though, so he will take a while to figure it out but you get swooped into his arms and treated like a queen, lets be real his only relationship was based on a drunken proposal to a woman who didn’t love him, so you are PRECIOUS to him and you are his now. His teddy bear who he will pROTECT WITH HIS LIFE. Ho boy, you asked for this
Wine Daddy Valerius just knows its you, his lips curl into a smirk, his weeks, nay, months of subtle courting has paid off. He arranges dinner that night and saunters into your shop, meticulously planned outfit for you in toe, tells you to get dressed and meet him out the front in 5, all concluded with a pet name of all things. He has a glorious carriage ready and he whisks you away to dinner where you talk and laugh and see that he is gorgeous inside and out. If not a little a lot ambitious, flirty and bitchy.
Our Favourite Gremlin Valdemar giggles in delight, that giggle turns into a cackle. You are finally their’s. The next time they approach you, they say nothing, just kiss you, hard, and walk away, leaving you barely on your feet and very near breathless, they cast a glance over their shoulder to see your trembling and blushing form “I knew you would cave, eventually...”

Quote
January 8, 2021 (Friday) More information continues to emerge about the events of Wednesday. They point to a broader conspiracy than it first appeared. Calls for Trump’s removal from office are growing. The Republican Party is tearing apart. Power in the nation is shifting almost by the minute. [Please note that information from the January 6 riot is changing almost hourly, and it is virtually certain that something I have written will be incorrect. I have tried to stay exactly on what we know to be facts, but those could change.] More footage from inside the attack on the Capitol is coming out and it is horrific. Blood on statues and feces spread through the building are vile; mob attacks on police officers are bone-chilling. Reuters photographer Jim Bourg, who was inside the building, told reporters he overheard three rioters in “Make America Great Again” caps plotting to find Vice President Mike Pence and hang him as a “traitor”; other insurrectionists were shouting the same. Pictures have emerged of one of the rioters in military gear carrying flex cuffs—handcuffs made of zip ties—suggesting he was planning to take prisoners. Two lawmakers have suggested the rioters knew how to find obscure offices. New scrutiny of Trump’s “Stop the Steal” rally before the attack shows Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani, Representative Mo Brooks (R-AL), Don Jr., and Trump himself urging the crowd to go to the Capitol and fight. Trump warned that Pence was not doing what he needed to. Trump promised to lead them to the Capitol himself. There are also questions about law enforcement. While exactly what happened remains unclear, it has emerged that the Pentagon limited the Washington D.C. National Guard to managing traffic. D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser requested support before Trump’s rally, but the Department of Defense said that the National Guard could not have ammunition or riot gear, interact with protesters except in self-defense, or otherwise function in a protective capacity without the explicit permission of acting Secretary Christopher Miller, whom Trump put into office shortly after the election after firing Defense Secretary Mark Esper. When Capitol Police requested aid early Wednesday afternoon, the request was denied. Defense officials held back the National Guard for about three hours before sending it to support the Capitol Police. Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, a Republican, tried repeatedly to send his state’s National Guard, but the Pentagon would not authorize it. Virginia’s National Guard was mobilized when House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called the governor, Ralph Northam, herself. Defense officials said they were sensitive to the criticism they received in June when federal troops cleared Lafayette Square of peaceful protesters so Trump could walk across it. But it sounds like there might be a personal angle: Bowser was harshly critical of Trump then, and it would be like him to take revenge on her by denying help when it was imperative. Refusing to stop the attack on the Capitol might have been more nefarious, though. A White House adviser told New York Magazine’s Washington correspondent Olivia Nuzzi that Trump was watching television coverage of the siege and was enthusiastic, although he didn’t like that the rioters looked “low class.” While the insurrectionists were in the Capitol, he tweeted: “Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution, giving States a chance to certify a corrected set of facts, not the fraudulent or inaccurate ones which they were asked to previously certify. USA demands the truth!” Even as lawmakers were under siege, both Trump and his lawyer Rudy Giuliani were making phone calls to brand-new Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) urging him to slow down the electoral count. After Trump on Wednesday night tweeted that there would be an “orderly” transition of power, on Thursday he began again to urge on his supporters. With the details and the potential depth of this event becoming clearer over the past two days—Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas’s wife, Virginia, tweeted her support, and state lawmakers as well as Republican attorneys general were actually involved—Americans are recoiling from how bad this attempted coup was… and how much worse it could have been. The crazed rioters were terrifyingly close to our elected representatives, all gathered together on that special day, and they were actively talking about harming the vice president. By Friday night, 57% of Americans told Reuters they wanted Trump removed from office immediately. Nearly 70% of Americans disapprove of Trump’s actions before the riot. Only 12% of Americans approved of the rioters; 79% of Americans described the rioters as “criminals” or “fools.” Five percent called them “patriots.” Pelosi tonight said that she hoped the president would resign, but if not, the House of Representatives will move forward with impeachment on Monday, as well as with legislation to enable Congress to remove Trump under the 25th Amendment. The most recent draft of the impeachment resolution has just one article: “incitement of insurrection.” As a privileged resolution, it can go directly to the House without committee approval. In the Senate, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has no interest in further splitting the Republicans over another impeachment, or forcing them onto the record as either for or against it. Timing is on his side: the Senate is not in session for substantive business until January 19, so cannot act on an impeachment resolution without the approval of all senators. It can take up the resolution then, but more likely it will wait until Biden is sworn in, at which point the measure would be managed not by McConnell, but by the new House majority leader, Chuck Schumer (D-NY). A trial can indeed take place after Trump is no longer president, enabling Congress to make sure he can never again hold office. Whether or not the Senate would convict is unclear, but it’s not impossible. Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), for one, is so furious she is talking of switching parties. “I want him out,” she says. Still, Trump supporters are now insisting that it would “further divide the country” to try to remove Trump now, and that we need to unify. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), who led the Senate effort to challenge Biden’s election, today tweeted that Biden was not working hard enough to “bring us together or promote healing” and that “vicious partisan rhetoric only tears our country apart.” Trump, meanwhile, has continued to agitate his followers, and today began to call for more resistance, while users on Parler, the new right-wing social media hangout, are talking of another, bigger attack on Washington. Tonight, Twitter banned Trump, stating: “we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence.” As evidence, it cited both his claim that his supporters would “have a GIANT VOICE long into the future,” and his tweet that he would not be going to Biden’s inauguration on January 20. Twitter says that Trump’s followers see these two new tweets as proof that the election was invalid and that the Inauguration is a good target, since he won’t be there. The Twitter moderators say that “plans for future armed protests have already begun proliferating on and off-Twitter, including a proposed secondary attack on the US Capitol and state capitol buildings on January 17, 2021.” Twitter also took down popular QAnon accounts, including those of Trump’s former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn and his former lawyer Sidney Powell, who is having quite a bad day: the company that makes election machines, Dominion Voting Systems, announced it is suing her for defamation and asking $1.3 billion in damages. After taking down 7,000 QAnon accounts in July, Twitter continued by today taking down the account of the man who hosts the posts from “Q.” While Twitter officials might well be horrified by the insurrection, the ban is also a sign of a changing government. With the election of two Democratic senators from Georgia this week, the majority goes to the Democrats, and McConnell will no longer be Majority Leader, killing bills. Social media giants know regulation of some sort is around the corner, and they are trying to look compliant fast. When Twitter banned Trump, so did Reddit, and Facebook and Instagram already had. Google Play Store removed Parler, warning it to clean up its content moderation.   Trump evidently couldn’t stand the Twitter ban, and tried at least five different accounts to get back onto the platform. He and his supporters are howling that he is being silenced by big tech, but of course he has an entire press corps he could use whenever he wished. Losing his access to Twitter simply cuts off his ability to drum up both support and money by lying to his supporters. Another platform that has dumped Trump is one of those that handled his emails. The San Francisco correspondent of the Financial Times, Dave Lee, noted that for more than 48 hours there had been no Trump emails: in the previous six days he sent out 33. This has been a horrific week. If it has a silver lining, it is that the lines are now clear between our democracy and its enemies. The election in Georgia, which swung the Senate away from the Republicans and opens up some avenues to slow down misinformation, is a momentous victory.

Thoughts/ Background The Deathly Hallows Part One
We get this first look at the new regime. If something were ever done  like a fanfiction where Muggles did find out, you could copy this speech word for word, and it would have the same effect.
We see the Muggle family murdered, and then you see
Harry looked out that window countless times to see his “family” leaving on trips or outings without him, but this is one that he can’t take with him, no matter what.
To be fair, Voldemort would torture the Dursleys for fun merely because of what they are.
This just seemed out of character for Petunia. She hasn’t talked about Lily in anything but derogatory terms for years, and then suddenly she’s “my sister”. Please. Then again, the shock of being forced out of her home, with her family, but without Harry, the special one, like Lily was might have triggered some old memories. We never really learned what the whole relationship between these women were especially when they were older. I just don’t care for Petunia overly much. Dudley, on the other hand, exhibits some potential.
This is also a nod to the books, Mr. Weasley here isn’t merely tinkering with his workshop, but fashioning a way for his family to communicate with one another, and for others to communicate with the Order when things get bad. He is planning ahead.
Hermione had to do something here that most people, one, wouldn’t have had the skill to do properly, and two, would have been incredibly hard on them. She vanished all thoughts of her from her parents minds. She took a very logical step and executed it for the safety of her parents. She did what was necessary, and her logical brain made that possible.
Snape just blows through the wards around the Dark Lords home because he is a bad ass. Then the look on his face when he sees Charity Burbage is just heart wrenching. You can think of any number of backstory for these two that you want. But she specifically refers to Severus as her friend. Not her co-worker.
The Malfoy’s are not amused. This is the stiff upper lip of the aristocracy, and also, the fact that they are both extremely uncomfortable and frightened.
The only thing Pius is thinking is, “Don’t let the snake eat me. Don’t let the snake eat me.”
A wizard or witches wand is one of the most important things to them. It is an extension of their body. They have it since they turn eleven. It is always beside them, and to use another person’s wand is both extremely intimate and vile when you consider taking this extension of someone away.
How Snape looks at her….. He shows his emotions on his face as much as Draco in this scene for me. He might have perfected that frightening teacher gambit because his emotions are so full and available on his face. He perfected that scary act because he couldn’t have people looking at him for too long or else they would see everything.
Harry packs up nothing from this room. He has Hedwig and his trunk, presumably.
He looks in his cupboard one more time. The place where he spent so many years. The toy soldiers are still there. The sword here in the toy’s hand looks like a wand.
Love Mad-Eye
I’m sorry, but you can’t even see the scarring on Bill’s face. That always pissed me off. He is shown for four minutes maybe in this movie, they could have made him look like he did in the books, truly ravaged.
Tonk’s pregnancy. Another nod to book readers.
Hermione is sneaking up on him while Mad-Eye talks to Harry. She is eyeing him as Harry is preparing to monologue.
Mr. Weasley is guarding the doorway just in case behind Fred and George.
Harry knows this is serious, but still can’t hide his fascination here.
Tonks is calming Remus in the background because he knows that they all are about to undertake something that could be very dangerous.
“I know Ginny was lying about that tattoo.” Another nod to the books. I love these. I live for them in this movie and in the next one.
Harry lets Hedwig out to fly one more time. He probably thought that she would go off without him, and meet him at the Burrow, but animals are so receptive that she stuck by her friend because she knew that something was off.
Sirius, in a very real way, brought Harry to Pivet Drive, rescuing him from people still loyal to the Dark Lord, and then Sirius’ bike takes him away, and rescues him from the Dark Lord.
Hagrid takes the bike to a Muggle road where they could in theory hide in plain sight, just like Harry did at the Dursleys.
That must have been one powerful stunner to knock Hagrid, the half giant out.
Do we ever really get this phenomenon explained fully? Why Harry’s wand acted of its own accord, and defended himself against Voldemort? Is that because of the twin cores? Because Voldemort was using someone else’s wand.
Mrs. Weasley is such a strong character. To have to stay home, and take up the position of watcher and waiter and potential triage if help is needed. It took almost more courage to stay behind then it took to go.
Why did Mundungus flip? What offer was made for him to be swayed to the other side. He is old enough to have lived during the first war he would have known what it was like back then.
Mr. Weasley must be having some serious flashbacks right now about losing someone. He was married to Molly who lost both of her brothers in the first war. They were twins, and now his twin son has just been injured. I wonder how close the four of them were? Odd purebloods who wanted to fight against the oncoming horde. Did they house them or the Marauders at one point in time? Did Arthur provide cover for them? This is why we need the thing, and so, I did THE THING if you would like me to send you some of the thing, message me.
Harry is presenting some very valid points here. They need to get going, but Ron is showing some rationality here that is uncommon for Gryffindors. He is saying, “Let’s take a second, and try to think this through.” A vast contrast from what happens later on.
The Burrow looks more modern and less cluttered in this movie compared to the second. Then again, this is after the fire in the sixth film, and thus, in theory, they have lost a lot of their possessions. Things would look differently.
Ginny is a minx, and I love it. “You ain’t gonna pay attention to me? You really think so?”
Harry is changing his tune about weddings after he sees Ginny in that dress.
George winks at them!!!! That always kills me. Before he gives Harry the “Older brother” look.
George two seconds later, “I’m going to get a commendation.”
The deluminator finally making another appearance.
As a bookworm, I can think of no better gift then someone who loves books giving me an annotated copy of their favorite book.
I like that the fact that the sword of Godric Gryffindor can come out of the sorting hat seems to be common knowledge.
They have guards outside of the tent.
Hagrid and Madam Maxime.
Is that Fleur and Bill’s cake behind Hermione? Or something else?
Nice close up of the symbol.
If that is the cake, I feel like it probably does something spectacular to make it more grand.
You can see Mrs. Weasley behind Aunt Muriel being the fantastic mother of the groom making her rounds.
Death Eaters AK first, as questions never.
The waitress is me at work…. Lol if only we could wear air pods and block everything else out.
Harry, you know your girl Hermione has got your back.
Harry is very practical here. I don’t think he cares one way or another about whether these death eaters live or die.
Hermione is the best at spells is the same as saying she is the best at everything.
You can see Hermione having a flashback to her parents here.
Who created these wizarding laws? It would have Voldemort if they could have kept the trace on Harry. How do they enact these laws? Enforce them? What magic is used in their creation?
This is the first time that Harry has been back in Grimmauld Place since Sirius died. He goes to Sirius’ room first. I wonder why Mrs. Black did rid everything of Sirius’ presence from her house after he defected. Did she have some sort of hope that he would come back?
The nameplates on their doors are so different. Sirius’ is plain and boldfaced. Regulus’ is curvy and fluid, full name present.
Look at Grimmauld Place in Ootp and then look at it now. Mundungus robed the house blind. I wonder how he managed to make out with so much when Kreacher was there. Unless Kreacher was under some sort of enchantment to not harm any wizard in the household unless directed otherwise. It seems like something that house elves would be forced to comply with.
He calls him little master Regulus,,,,,,, I will never forgive the filmmakers for not letting the creatures have their final stand at Hogwarts in the movies like they did in the books.
Neville is just fed up with this bullshit. He’s a pureblood. He knows that he is too valuable to the new regime to incapacitate. But this still takes some guts.
The statue in the atrium has been replaced with wizards crushing the muggles and creatures.
The way that a corrupt regime tries to take over is by not only changing the narrative in the media, but by also changing the culture. They change the art and the books, the burn whatever they don’t like. They make you think that something has always been there even when it has just been replaced. Think 1984 by Orwell.
Umbridge is just so pleased with herself. She needs another vacay with the centaurs.
The way that Ron looks Hermione makes me want to sob. It is so beautiful.
Okay, how long in advance did Jk Rowling plan this series? It is not a surprise to me at all that she went ahead and is now writing the Cormoran Strike detective novels. Her mind works in deep layers of plot and intricasies of detail that I can barely fathom. She must have been planning this for years. To have the resurrection stone open not at touch, but when Harry puts it to his mouth because that is how he caught his first snitch in the first novel. This woman is a bloody genius, which is why I reading The Cormoan Strike novels and taking notes son, I’m not sleeping on this woman anymore.
Mundungus is sneaky, but Hermione is smart as shit. None of them are fooled by his idiot act.
I love Dobby. And Kreacher. Without these characters, the story of Harry Potter wouldn’t have been as good as it is.
When I watched this movie, I was like, dang!!! Of course, it is Umbridge.
These high ranking ministry officials are the definition of getting too comfortable. You really about to let yourself get abducted in broad daylight.
Harry, Ron, and Hermione taking out the trash.
What happens if a Muggle wanders into this bathroom? Or a Muggleborn who hasn’t got their Hogwarts letter yet? Do they think they are just taking a wee, and then get spat out at the Ministry of Magic? That would be quite the story.
I love that Harry and Ron don’t even question if this method of getting to the ministry is going to work or not. They just automatically stand in the toilet.
Also, the statue makes it seem like the Muggles are fighting one another. That would be something that Voldemort’s regime would want. They would want it to seem like the Muggles are low, petty creatures who would rather save their own skin then another of their kind. It would inspire a sense of community even subconsciously among those that saw it.
Poor Ron. Didn’t they research these people? They got two high ranking people, and then poor Reg Cattermole.
Where Ron gets out of the elevator. These office doors? Look almost like entrances to banks or crypt vaults. Very secure looking.
I know this is another actor acting like Harry, but that was a pure Harry Potter face when they saw Umbridge.
That pamphlet reads: Mudbloods and the dangers they pose. Perfect Pureblood Society./ They are mass producing propaganda.
I wish some mention of this being a WWW product could have been put out there.
Umbridge would be OCD. She is the type that needs to be in control of everything, and that would translate into her surroundings.
These books in Umbridge’s drawer look old. They don’t look freshly printed. And why would such a neat freak have old books in her desk? These might have been from the first war with Grindlewald. When Muggles attack. Mudbloods: How to spot them. These could easily be reworked into new propaganda. Umbridge is a racist who relies on “research” to assert her ideals.
Umbridged marked out Mad-Eye’s, Sirius’, and  Dumbeldore’s faces in red ink like she was crossing something off of her grocery list.
Ron is this close to his dad, and yet, he can’t say anything to him. It might have led somewhat to him feeling like he does later on, and eventually heading out.
Ron and Arthur have the same sense of humor and I love it.
Arthur was ready to throw down with Runcore as Harry. Mr. Weasley gets a lot of flack for being soft, sweet Arthur, but he definitely has a side of steel when he thinks that he or someone in his family is being hurt.
The death eater trials seen back in Goblet of Fire were full of paperwork, trying truly to determine guilt or innocence. This trial, there are no witnesses, hardly any paper work, and no proper jury. Clearly a farce. Umbridge is judge and jury. She is absolutely horrid and I hate her.
Umbridge must get a serious tick anytime anyone says the word, “Lie”.
Ron is trying his best to get this lady understand that they are facing tough, unfair times. I hope that they took the advice and got the heck out of dodge.
Copies of Harry’s face hiding Harry’s face from view is amazing.
They land in such a calm looking place, but the reality is that everything has just got a heck of a lot harder. They have been forcibly evicted from Grimmauld Place, and now, one of their number seriously injured. Everything just went from bad to worse soon to be deplorable.
I like that Harry refers to Voldemort as Tom here. Saying, “You Know Who” makes it seem like he is far removed from the rest of humanity, but saying, “This belonged to Tom’s grandfather. This belonged to Tom himself.” That humanizes this monster like figure, both in that it makes it seem like he can be defeated, but also that, it makes it seem possible that he can be redeemed which seems to be what Harry at least attempts in the eighth film.
Harry just looks at Ron, like, “Yes, fucker, it does bother me.” It takes very little time for people to start turning.
Like, why didn’t they just tell Ron that they had a run in with snatchers. Shouldn’t he have been alerted to any new threats?
Are there really just miles of abandoned trailers somewhere like that?
Hermione is keeping the peace the best that she can, but she has a lot against her, the two fragile, male egos not the biggest concern.
I never liked this scene of them fighting each other in the woods. But it sort of turns that feeling of fighting for pretend or something to do to really trying to harm each other, and letting the resentment that the two men feel towards each other and towards other people come to the surface.
They cut the scene of Ron and Hermione skipping rocks out of the final version of the DVD, and I have always hated that because it is so cute.
When Ron leaves, Harry is truly terrified that he is going to hear two snaps of apparition, and that Hermione will leave him too.
She ties her scarf around the tree because she hopes that Ron will come back and see it. It reminds me of that, “Tie a yellow ribbon round an old oak tree…”
The contrast in the tent here between this tent in all its beige glory and the tent that was used in Goblet of Fire at the Quidditch World Cup is stark. One is clearly bright and fun, and this one, like their circumstances is just bleak.
I know that JK Rowling loves this scene, but I don’t. I always thought that it was out of place in this film. Hermione is just torn up because Ron, someone who she has deep, deep feelings for of friendship and something more has just left them, her, and Harry decides that now is a great time for a dance. And the way that Harry looks at her is just a little too personal for me. It feels like the end of the world. The only justificiation for that look that I can think of, is Harry is feeling so hurt by Ron that he intends to wreck what is left of their friendship before Ron can, and what faster way than ruining what Harry knows Ron feels for Hermione. That is a really dirty interpretation though, so, Idk. It’s better to think it is just an odd scene and odd acting on DR’s part.
I feel like Harry and Hermione had a renewed sense of determination to start getting stuff done since Ron left. They wanted to try and make progress, subconsciously thinking that somehow that might get them all back together. Work so you don’t think, maybe.
You can see the snow start to fall at the end of this scene, and then they apparate into a snow covered Godric’s Hollow.
I love Harry’s insistence that he is not going to polyjuice himself or anything like that because he wants this visit to Godric’s Hollow to be authentic.
The Peverell tombstone, a nod to the books that I don’t think gets fully explained in the films.
So, Nagini is a horcrux. Nagini was once a person. Nagini is a snake and Voldemort’s familiar. Now, we know that animals can be transformed into goblets and plates or whatever, but animals can be transfigured into a person? That’s what happened here with Bagshot, right?
Bathilda Bagshot straight up had a blue steel picture of young Grindlewald in her house. And I don’t blame her. This version of Grindlewald is far superior.
Skeeter’s book, another nod to the book.
She is speaking parseltongue , but Harry only hears English. This is where, us, the viewers, promptly start freaking out.
Harry gets thrown into a baby boy’s nursery then proceeds to fight against a piece of Voldemort’s soul. Irony.
THE DOE!!!!
Some people deal with tension using humor. Ron is one of those people. I am another.
Some people deal with tension with conflict. Harry is one of those people.
It looks like the piece of Voldemort’s soul in the locket literally tries to beat down on Harry, but it is rebuffed by the piece of soul that he already has inside of him.
Locket Hermione’s voice here is so different then her actual speaking voice.
This scene where locket Hermione and locket Harry are making out makes me want to vomit. It is so cringey that this was even included in the movie tbh.
“HEy,,,1,/ehdzjh,samdlas”
Ron’s like, “Mate, when we walk up I need to hold the destroyed horcrux and the sword, you know, for maximum effect.”
I like that they said that Ron was at a pub instead of home with the Weasleys like he was in the books.
“Just my name.” The way Ron says this makes my heart melt. It says so much in so few words.
I like that there is magic in this universe, and then there is magic. There is that little ball of light that floated from Sirius’ lips when they were being attacked by dementors in Prisoner of Azkaban, there is the veil in the department of mysteries, and the ball of light that Ron talks about here. Explanations are provided for so much in this series, but there are still magical things that even the characters don’t know the whole of.
Hermione is like, “Heifer, please, you ain’t getting any of my time yet.”
I have a feeling that Hermione is right for the next ten years after the behavior you have exhibited Ronald Weasley.
Luna. My baby. My girl.
The fruit on the plants are floating. If I grew up in house like this, in a place like this, I would believe in a lot of things that other people may not. It seems like a place where imagination is really allowed to flourish.
The animation used for the “Tale of the Three Brothers” is absolutely stunning. It is why people have it tattooed on their skin. It’s breathtaking.
He says, “The most powerful wand ever made.” He doesn’t say created. There is the theory that it did come from death, but then that the brothers were merely fantastic inventors. I don’t know which the truth is, maybe some of both. It would make a wonderful fanfiction.
At the wedding at the beginning, both the Lovegood’s are wearing yellow and they’re bright and happy, and then you have this scene where everything is dark and gloomy. Some beautiful non-verbal storytelling.
You can see just how wrecked Xenophilius is. He is desperate to get Luna back he is wandering into an attack zone.
People who are desperate don’t have the reason available to think, “Oh, what if these people don’t actually care about my concerns.” They have a single track mind in getting what they want.
Grindlewald is still a cocky bastard even after decades in prison. This old man looks more the badass than Depp.
Fenrir Greyback is just standing there, second fiddle to this random, purple scarf wearing snatcher. What the heck?
This scene always baffles me. Lucius has seen Ronald Weasley and his family for years. Lucius taunts Arthus on a regular basis. Lucius has heard repeatedly that Hermione and Ron are Harrys friends from Draco for at least six years. They KNOW FOR A FACT that this is Ron and Hermione, who do they think the third person is going to be?????????? It should have been a high enough possibility based on their presence alone to call the Dark Lord, but none of them do it because they have to make sure????
Draco has stared at this face for SIX years. I mean, Draco is just prepping himself to lie this whole time if he can get away with it.
Bellatrix ain’t no fool though. She figures out about the stinging jinx. The only thing that saves them is her seeing the sword.
Snape is the best potions master around. All of them probably have heard of veriterserum, and none of them thought to have it on tap?
It pisses me off to no end that we didn’t get to see Pettigrew strangle himself.
Dobby is a king!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When I saw this, I died.
Dobby is like, “Harry Potter, sir, duh.”
WE MISSED OUT ON A LUNA AND DOBBY BROMANCE AND I AM FUCKING FURIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Like having Pettigrew just pass out or whatever was such a cop out, but I understand what it would have done to the tone that had already been established in this sequence.
Even then, Draco isn’t ready to fall into line with Bellatrix’s plans.
Dobby is a king, and I love him.
DOBBY HAS NO MASTER. DOBBY IS A FREE ELF. DOBBY HAS COME TO SAVE HARRY POTTER AND HIS FRIENDS.
I love Dobby. I want to cry no matter how many times I watch this scene because he is so small and vulnerable and honest, and he just loves Harry so much. And he did so good. And he saved them, and Harry wants so badly to save him back, but he can’t.
Harry has just lost so many people. In the next film, when he is speaking to everyone in the house Harry seems almost militaristic in his approach and demeanor, but when you think about what has just happened, Dobby’s death, that harshness and straight to the point approach seems more realistic and warranted definitely.
This scene where Voldemort breaks into Dumbledore’s grave: I read something that commented on Voldemort like hovering over Dumbledore’s body to get to the wand. Then it was like, well, he could be straddling him. I have honestly never been the same since. I laughed so hard.

Ah, thanks for the new favorite song! This was very cute to imagine in my head… I did this as if it was first person mode from the LI, hope you enjoy! It helps if you have this playing in the background as you read. Also I ran out of lyrics from the song for everyone so I added in the opens from the lyrics on Google❤ The main 6 overhearing MC singing Baby Mine to their baby Asra:
I woke to hear the sound of soft footsteps making the floorboards creak. I reach out across the bed to feel for my other half but it is empty. Slowly I push myself up to see. I find them holding our child close, head on their shoulder, rocking and swaying while looking out of the window. A soft smile crosses my face, just seeing them there as the moon glows on their face, that’s my love… So caring, so gorgeous, I love them. I hear a soft hum followed by a song as they stroke our child’s head, soft white hair. Their voice is so wonderful and calming. I let out a satisfied hum.
“Rest your head close to my heart” they turn to face me thoughtful eyes watching. “Never to part, baby of mine…” they lift a hand over our child’s back and I can feel my heart ake, their love radiating through yet another combination of our hearts together.
I slip out of bed and pad my way over wrapping my arms around their waist and kissing them lightly at the side of their temple. “Your voice is so soothing… Can you finish the song?” They comply with a smile and begin singing the song again. We both stand and sway watching the sun slowly rise over the city streets from the window, the occasional deep breath or wiggle of our baby interrupting me from dozing off.
Nadia:
I saunter down the halls mind full of thoughts. I have not had a great amount of time to spend with my family recently with important meetings and trying to keep up my appearance. It has been a nightmare since the masquerade… I hear the crying of my child cut the cold tension in the halls and I speed up my pace. As I reach the door the crying fades away and is replaced with the humming and song from my dear spouse. I choose to stand by the door watching from a distance as they sing to them, tickling and swirling shapes on their exposed tummy, giving off sweet little giggles and gurgles. I do not hear them sing very often, most times it is when they are getting ready in the morning or taking a bath with me, but this is nice, watching the two loves of my life, in complete bliss.
“Don’t you mind what they say, let those eyes sparkle and shine…” they boop their nose and they give out a smile, I see my love giving one in return.
“Baby mine, baby mine…” As they finish the song I settle myself behind them and look over their shoulder at our now asleep and relaxed child, my hair sliding down my loves arm.
“Your voice is amusing my dear… It is perfect and silky, you should sing more often.” they let out a small chuckle.
“You were listening? Hm, maybe I will…” They lean in and rest their head against my shoulder and smile looking up at me.
Julian:
After a long day at the clinic, I can finally come home. The weather was awful today, raining as well as some thunder here and there, it made me think of them both the whole day. I know they’re just next door but I was quite booked and couldn’t visit, there has been a small bug going around the schools as of late and its been consuming my time. I open the door and chuck off my coat hanging it on my arm. I hear a soft inviting voice swaying its way down from upstairs and I follow it. I swing around the corner recognizing the song as one that my dear has sung for me many times before on a hard sleepless night. I join in as I walk over to them, swaying holding our child looking lovingly at them.
“From your head to your toes” I tap each place as I sing and they let out a happy gurgle. My heart swoons as my love begin to harmonize.
“Baby mine…”
“You’re so sweet, goodness knows…”
“Baby mine…”
“You are so precious to me” I take their chin and tilt their face towards me.
“Sweet as can be, baby mine…”
“Baby mine, baby mine…” A smile curls on both our lips and I bump my forehead against theirs looking down at our peaceful child a cheeky smile accentuating their cute chubby cheeks.
“Oh wow… It’s been a while since I’ve heard that one- you should sing with me next time we go to the Raven your voice is stunning, I adore it!” They let out a laugh.
“The reason why I haven’t sung that in a while is because you are getting better at having a good nights rest. And if you want me to sing with you next time we go to Barths I suggest something that won’t knock them out?” I look down at our child and yawn…
“Heh… Yeah…”
Muriel:
I lie there looking at my newborn child, so precious and soft as they wriggle in place drowning in all the fluff that surrounds them. They’re too delicate for this world. I’m too scared to touch them sometimes… I feel something so small and adorable surely can’t look fitting with someone… *sigh* Like me… As I watch over them they begin to cry up a storm.
“Oh shhh, it’s okay! Uhh… T-the baby!” I look over to my spouse in worry as they make their way over from the small kitchenette.
“Muri, my love, you can’t hurt them… Everything is okay.” They pick up our child and cradle them carefully. “I know its all new and weird but we’ll get used to this…” They intertwine one of their hands with mine. “Hmm, you know I found out that they really enjoy listening to people sing, I was doing it yesterday and it put them straight to sleep, heh…” They get up and walk over to the fire, sitting down with the baby. “Come here watch this.”
“…Okay…” I blush and sit down next to them. They start up a melody and I feel a bit more relaxed than the beginning. I watch the song work wonders on comforting our child.
“Baby mine, don’t you cry… Baby mine, dry your eyes…” they stroke their hair, rocking back and forth looking into their bright shining eyes. They are wonderful, so caring and patient…
Out of all the time I’ve known them, I never expected for them to have such a beautiful and melodic singing voice, I secretly wish they would do it more… I wrap my blanket around them both and watch as our child slowly falls asleep. My spouse hands me the child and brings a hand up to my cheek.
“Everything is fine…” they rest their head against my shoulder and begin to hum again before I know it my eyes are closing and I’m falling asleep.
Portia:
I stop my gardening to look up at the sky and watch the sunset for a beat. It’s getting pretty late… I turn to see my love sitting on the bench playfully tickling our child and blowing raspberries onto their tummy. The echoing of their giggles and gibberish noises bringing a wide smile to my face. I make my way over.
“Hey, there hot stuff, how’s it going?”
“Haha, how old are we and you’re calling me that?”
“Not old enough!” I wrap an arm around their shoulder trying to avoid getting mud on them. “Hows the little one?”
“Too rowdy” They sigh “I don’t know what to do” They give me a sheepish smile.
“Hm, you know what I loooove, it might help…” They raise their brow. “Your singing!”
A blush spreads across their face “Oh shush… Mmm, okay…” I sit back and wait for them to start.
I listen to their voice hit all the right notes, slowly melting in a pool of love, as they stroke our child’s eyebrows, holding their head up with one arm. Their eyes slowly slide shut and they wriggle to get comfy, an arm poking out and slumping on top of theirs.
“If they knew all about you, they’d end up loving you, too.”
I watch the sunset hit of their face highlighting every point of beauty on them, (AKA every point!) and sink into the bench tuning in till the song ends.
“Your voice one of your many wonders…”
“Mmm, thank you…” they give a peck to my cheek and sink back into the bench with me. We share a piece of silence, something we haven’t had for a few days.
Lucio:
I feel guilty about the argument we had today, I shouldn’t be so snappy on them especially with our new child… I should stop fussing over everything, I know they have things covered but I guess it’s hard, it’s not like I’d ever admit that though. I find myself making a sheepish look even though no one is around.
I push open the door to our bedroom and am shocked to not find them there.
“W-where are?…” I turn in my heels and make my way over to our child’s nursery. They have to be there it’s too late at night to be going out for a stroll. As I approach the door I hear soft singing coming from inside. I push it open gently and see my love standing on the balcony rocking our child giving them kisses between every verse. My heart softens at the view as I make my way over.
“My dove your voice is so smooth and soft…” I wrap an arm around their waist and they turn to face me.
“Thank you… They were a little grumpy so I thought a song would work.” They begin to hum again and I watch contently pulling them both in against my chest in a loose hug. I listen in as their voice perfectly reaches every note. I hear our child let out a soft sigh and a few mumbles here and there.
“All those same people who scold you, what they’d give just for the right to hold you.”
They hum until the song fades off.
“You should show off your talents! I would- not saying my singing voice is bad but… It’s just in the works.” I give them a wink and a small peck to the lips. “I can prove it!”
I clear my throat and attempt to sing the same song again my voice not reaching the notes quite as well. I see our child wriggle and open their eyes looking up at me with a small pout.
I hear a laugh from my love. “Woahohohou they did not like that!”
I look away blushing with a grumble. “Maybe not…”

JIJI ak zanmi l : Kwonik yon adolesans ayisyèn
Epizòd 3 : Rimè ak vérité sa w pi pito ?
Sèn nan ap pase kay Chacha.
Jiji. — M te di nou m pa kwè nan pawòl sa ! M konnen Chacha pa t ap pral nan jere koze renmen ak mèt Ismaël.
Nerva. — Se pa mwen ki di koze a non mezanmi ! Chacha, Gérald di li wè ou menm ak mèt la plizyè fwa, ap mache men nan men nan zòn lakay li. Ou wè mesaj yo sou group la, ou pa di anyen.
Chacha. — Ki plizyè fwa... Hum ! Ou bliye jan nou tout te gentan ap kritike m san nou pa mande m koze.
Medam, m konnen nou pral jije m, m konnen tou nou ka pa kwè m, men, jan m di nou an, m pat gen okenn relasyon renmen ak mèt Ismaël.
Nou rankontre pandan vakans lan nan yon makèt dèlma, nou pale, li banm nimewo l. Nan pale, ekri tout tan nan telefòn, m twouve l senpa, nou vin zanmi. Li envite m lakay li.
Jiji. — Murielle kite Chacha pale ! Epi afè chanm gason se mòg lan se pawòl predatè kap chèche bòn konsyans !
Chacha. — M pat lwen pou m te dekouvri vrè figi mèt la. Li te vrèman mete m an konfyans lè nou te konn ap pale yo.
Depi lè m rive a, m wè l chanje avè m, epi chak mwen ap montre l mwen pa kontan jès li yo, li di m se mwen k ap met vye bagay nan tèt mwen, li renmen m, li pap fè m mal... Yon pakèt pawòl pou manipile m. Anverite li pat manke anyen pou l te met men sou mwen !
Chacha pran kriye
Li bo m plizyè fwa, malgre m pouse l a chak fwa.
Si misye pat wè san an... Li te gentan fèmen pòt, fè presyon sou mwen. Si m pat gen règ mwen, li t ap vyole m.
Si nou ta wè jan l ap montre m mwen vle sa, alòske Bondye tande m sa pat pase nan tèt mwen li te ka rive fè m yon bagay konsa.
Epi aprèsa, li kondwi m, lap mache ak mwen men nan men. M tèlman pè, m sou presyon, m ap tranble, m pa di anyen. Genlè se lè sa Gérald wè nou an.
Aprèsa, mèt la kontinye ekri m komsi anyen pat rive. Se bloke moblije bloke l.
Epi lè m wè rime a sou gwoup la, m pa di anyen. M te twò wont.
M wont medam! M pa konn kijan m pral fè gade moun nan je.
Maria.
Jiji. — Si ou al kay yon moun, san bri, san kont, li baw yon souflèt, w ap di li te gendwa baw souflèt la paske w lakay li ?
Nerva. — Se pa menm bagay !
Maria. — Se menm bagay. Pèsòn pa gendwa ni manyen w, ni leve men sou ou sou pretèks ou lakay li, oubyen nan chanm li.

LETTERS FROM AN AMERICAN
January 8, 2021
Heather Cox Richardson
More information continues to emerge about the events of Wednesday.
I have tried to stay exactly on what we know to be facts, but those could change.]
More footage from inside the attack on the Capitol is coming out and it is horrific.
Only 12% of Americans approved of the rioters; 79% of Americans described the rioters as “criminals” or “fools.” Five percent called them “patriots.”
Pelosi tonight said that she hoped the president would resign, but if not, the House of Representatives will move forward with impeachment on Monday, as well as with legislation to enable Congress to remove Trump under the 25th Amendment.
Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), who led the Senate effort to challenge Biden’s election, today tweeted that Biden was not working hard enough to “bring us together or promote healing” and that “vicious partisan rhetoric only tears our country apart.”
Trump, meanwhile, has continued to agitate his followers, and today began to call for more resistance, while users on Parler, the new right-wing social media hangout, are talking of another, bigger attack on Washington.
The Twitter moderators say that “plans for future armed protests have already begun proliferating on and off-Twitter, including a proposed secondary attack on the US Capitol and state capitol buildings on January 17, 2021.”
Twitter also took down popular QAnon accounts, including those of Trump’s former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn and his former lawyer Sidney Powell, who is having quite a bad day: the company that makes election machines, Dominion Voting Systems, announced it is suing her for defamation and asking $1.3 billion in damages. After taking down 7,000 QAnon accounts in July, Twitter continued by today taking down the account of the man who hosts the posts from “Q.”
While Twitter officials might well be horrified by the insurrection, the ban is also a sign of a changing government.
The San Francisco correspondent of the Financial Times, Dave Lee, noted that for more than 48 hours there had been no Trump emails: in the previous six days the president sent out 33.
This has been a horrific week. If it has a silver lining, it is that the lines are now clear between our democracy and its enemies. The election in Georgia, which swung the Senate away from the Republicans and opens up some avenues to slow down misinformation, is a momentous victory.
