Rei turned his flight-belt off as slipped through Ataru's window and landed on the ground. He brushed the snowflakes out of his hair, and looked around for Lum, but the room was empty despite the lights being left on.

He sighed and turned to go before pausing as he heard the door creek open. Ten waddled through the air into the room looking almost as sullen and dejected as Rei was feeling.

He perked up when he saw Rei. 

"Oh! What are you doing here?" Rei was thankful that since they were alone, Ten didn't bother with Japanese.

Rei answered in Oni, too. "I was looking for Lum. She's not here?"

Ten shook his head, his bangs flopping over his face. "No, she dragged Ataru to go ice skating for Christmas. They left me all by myself."

Rei bit his lip. "We could go after them. What's 'Christmas'?"

Ten perked up further, and flew slow little guppy circles around Rei. "That's right, you don't know what Christmas is! It's an Earth holiday! Hey, forget Lum and stupid Ataru, do Christmas with me, do Christmas with me! There's food!"

The mention of food did get Rei's attention, but so did Ten's eagerness as the little boy tugged at Rei's shirt, begging with wide eyes. Lum was already out with Ataru, and going after them always turned into a disaster anyway.

And Ten seemed really lonely.

And there was food.

An hour later, Rei was walking down the decorated and brightly lit main street of Tomobiki with Ten in his arms. Both of them were dressed up in some of Ataru's winter clothes– scarves, earmuffs, hat– Mrs. Moroboshi had insisted. A gentle snow was still falling, reflecting the colors of the twinkling lights that were hung.

Ten eagerly told him everything he knew about Christmas– things he seemed to have learned as much from TV and commercials as from the Moroboshi family– and as he rambled they made various stops along the way. They walked around a department store where a man dressed as Santa was yelling 'hohohos'. 

Later they bought a bucket of fried chicken from a restaurant with another man in a white beard. Rei had thought that he, too, was dressed as Santa, but Rei had explained that he was some kind of retired earth military commander who now sold Christmas chicken. After that they stopped in a little cafe that was packed full of couples, and Rei devoured most of a large white cake covered in strawberries. Ten explained about the cake, too, while picking away at his slice, but admittedly, Rei missed most of that explanation in his sheer joy for cake.

"Is there anything else to do on Christmas?" Rei asked as he stepped out into the snow, belly full of white frosting and strawberries.

"There's presents," Ten said, looking up at him with his big, sparkling eyes.

There were fireworks lighting up the sky when Rei brought Ten home, and the two of them sat on the roof for a few minutes watching them shimmer and crackle. 

Afterward, Rei tucked Ten into bed with a plush tiger that was almost the size that he was. The kid was asleep almost the instant his head hit the pillow.

When Lum came home, whenever that would be, she'd find hidden in the closet with her futon a plushie that matched Ten's– a large, fluffy cow with big eyes and an orange tiger striped ribbon.

Rei decided that Christmas wasn't the worst Earth tradition he'd learned about.

[Akari manage to convince the court that the Moroboshi's were in the UFG witness protection program (During the bathroom break she texted Nayaka to write up a fake document to show the courts.) and that's why they didn't have valid IDs at moment. (She also may have kept the fact that they were her father and brother out of the explanation.) and they were quickly let go.]

Urusei Yatsura and Inuyasha Assassin's Creed AU

A Urusei Yatsura and Inuyasha crossover and Assassin's Creed AU for @klayr-de-gall event AU-gust 2024 day 9 Assassin's Creed.

Japanese teenage boy Kitaro Moroboshi arrived at the Abstergo Industries building in Tokyo. A staff member walk to Kitaro and said him, "You must be our lucky winner, Kitaro Moroboshi. I'm Jason Yugnafogel, head of Abstergo here."

Kitaro and Jason arrived at a underground lab and the Japanese boy ask Jason, "Where does it have to be so deep, Mr. Yugnafogel?" and Jason said, "It is important to protect our secrets." Kitaro was a bit confused, but he understand that Abstergo was a western company, so they do things here differenly.

Jason said to Kitaro as the doctors hook Kitaro in the strange machine, "The Animus will allow you relieve the memories of your ancestor during the Sengoku period, and send images of their lives that you go through to us that we can record for our planned game. Just remember that trying to forced your ancestor into something he or she didn't do or they get kill too early will result in the Animus stopping to recover as well you get a little sick. No serious side effects or anything." Kitaro close his eyes as the Animus powered up.

When Kitaro open his eyes, he find himself looking in the reflection of a young man wearing a purple robe on the water of a river and Kitaro think to himself, 'Holy cow, it's works if this guy is my ancestor. I gotta said that he is more handsome than my dad. Sorry, ancestor, but I'm going to read your mind to know you better.' and Kitaro did that as his ancestor think in his mind, 'My name is Miroku, a simple nomadic monk traveling the countryside as this war rage on, while enjoying many beautiful women and good things on my travels.' Kitaro think to himself as Miroku wash his face with the river water, 'Wait, is he really a monk or a guy faking it?' Miroku then turn to his traveling party at their camp which include the lovely miko with long black hair Kikyo, a long white hair boy wearing red named Inuyasha, and a brown hair boy wearing a blue sashinuki hakama, a turquoise happi coat patterned with leaves, and a tan fur vest named Shippo. They are traveling in the country to track down a common enemy of their named Naraku.

A beautiful young woman with her black hair in a ponytail and wearing a purple and green kimono and a giant boomerang on her back walk down the road and said to them once she see them, "Oh, greeting travelers." Kikyo see the woman and said to her, "Greetings, my name is Kikyo. These are my friends Miroku, Inuyasha, and young Shippo." Miroku quickly walk to the woman and ask her as he take her hands, "My dear, I must ask you? Will you have the honor to bear my children?" only for the woman to slap Miroku in his left cheek and said to him, "If you think I am that sort of woman, you're sorely mistaken." while Kitaro think, 'Yeah, he is directly related to dad. I see womanizer run in the family.' The woman see Inuyasha's white hair and she ask Kikyo, "Kikyo, is your friend Inuyasha.... a half Yokai?" and Kikyo reply, "Yes, but he is not evil like his Yokai kind." Kitaro wonder, 'Is this Inuyasha half foreigner?' The woman look at Inuyasha for a moment, which the white hair man cross his arms, and said, "I see..." before she finally introduced herself, "My name is Sango, a Yokai slayer for hire."

The group wave goodbye to Sango as she head back to her village. Miroku said to himself, "A shame that this Sango wouldn't enjoy our company." and Inuyasha comment, "I wonder if you means your own company, your prevent monk."

By the next day, Miroku and his party see smokes and Kikyo said to her group, "Come on, there is a village in danger." To Kitaro's shock, Inuyasha can leap great distances which cause Kikyo to shout, "Inuyasha, wait up!" and Inuyasha stop to wait for his friends before he said to them, "Okay, but you did said we have to hurry to save that village, Kikyo." Miroku said to the group, "I wish we have horses to ride on instead of walking on foot." and Kikyo said to Miroku, "We will worry about how to travel in the future later, Miroku."

The group arrived at the attacked village too late and find it in ruins, with dead bodies on the ground and buildings burned to the ground. Kikyo comment as she look at some of the murdered bodies, "These villagers were trying to protect themselves, but they has failed." and Shippo show that some of these villagers whose were trying to fight back have hidden blades on their gauntlets and he ask, "Were these guys ninjas?" Miroku look around the village and noticed something off about the attack as he pound, 'Strange, this would be a bandit attack, but there are still some money and jewels left behind. It is as if this was staged to look like a bandit attack.' and his eyes wander to the shine of the village which he head to with Inuyasha behind him. As Miroku enter the shine and find that some of the gold statues are there, Kitaro think to himself, 'Wait, not all of the gold statues were not stolen. You have a point, my prevent ancestor. This whole bandit attack was staged. The question is why? Why does the Animus even bring me to this part of history and not the start of my ancestor's life?' Miroku see a box that was hidden but was open and see that something round was placed there and said to Inuyasha, "Look like something was placed inside this box, and it was taken, Inuyasha." and he ask in worry, "Could it be... a Piece of Eden that my late old man mention?" Kitaro think, 'A Piece of Eden?' just as Kikyo call out, "Inuyasha, Miroku, we got incoming company!"

The two men step outside to see Sango at the village wearing black and pink armor and said to them with anger in her eyes, "Y-You... you killed everyone in my village! You must die for your actions!" and throw her giant boomerang at Miroku and his party, whose they manged to dodge it as Kitaro think to himself, 'Sango is thinking that Miroku and his friends are ones that attacked her.' Inuyasha pull out his sword as he said, "I normally don't like doing this, but you giving us no choice, Sango." and charge at Sango to attack. Miroku quickly yell at the same time as Kitaro did in his mind, "Inuyasha, stop!"

Miroku noticed a hooded man wearing a white fur monkey mask, which Kitaro think to himself, 'That is crying out villian!' and Miroku shout at him, "You! Naraku! You are the one whose killed the people of this village!" and Naraku laugh, "Yes, I am, monk! Sango's village was holding a artifact of great power, and I couldn't take it without dealing with these ninjas, so I worked with her village enemies to set a trap at a lord castle where she and the top men would get killed while soldiers raid this very village and take the Piece of Eden!" As Kitaro think in shock, 'So the bandit attack was a set up.' Sango overhear Naraku revealing his actions and she throw her giant boomerang at Naraku, cutting him down in half. Naraku said, "You... you broke free of the Apple's control!" and Miroku take off the mask to reveal that Naraku was some kind of robot, which shock Kitaro even more as there should not be robots by that time period.

As they recover from their battle from the misunderstand, Kikyo ask Sango as she help the Yokai slayer with her injuries, "Cam you tell us what is going on, Sango?" and Sango said, "We Yokai slayers are members of a secret order of guardians of free will known as the Assassins, and our code is 'nothing is true, everything is permitted.' We have been fighting a ancient enemy known as the Order of the Ancients, whose wish to enslave all humans with ancient artifacts known as Pieces of Eden, which are said to be left behind by powerful beings that we humans worship as gods." Inuyasha said, "My father said that our people were created by ancient beings that you humans called gods as guard dogs." Miroku quickly ask Sango, "Is the Buddha one of these beings?" and Sango reply, "No, I don't think so." which Miroku sigh before Sango continue, "The most common of these artifacts are known as Apples and they can control the wills of humans. Naraku was using one of those Apples on me before you help break me free." Kikyo ask Sango, "Why don't you come with us, Sango? We can hunt down Naraku." and Sango said to Kikyo, "Thank you, Kikyo. I will accept it." Miroku help Sango up while feeling her butt.

Kitaro awaken back to the real world and one of the staff members said, "Well, that is a lot of date. Now, we need to know where the Apple is." Kitaro overhear that and ask Jason, "Wait, you knew about these Apples? You let me relive Miroku's memories to find that Apple." and Jason said to Kitaro, "I guess we should has bring you back before Sango start telling the truth," and order guards, "Take him to the room."

Forced into a room by the guards, Kitaro meet a teenage girl with long black hair and her face look similar to Kikyo and Inuyasha which he said to her, "Wait, you look similar to a couple I saw in the Animus." and the girl said to Kitaro, "So, they are beginning to find the others' bloodlines." and Kitaro was confused and he ask the girl, "What are you talking about? All I know that my ancestor Miroku learn something called Pieces of Eden and Abstergo want them." The girl said to Kitaro, "My name is Kagome Higurashi, descendant of Inuyasha and Kikyo. I have learn of them and the Pieces of Eden when Abstergo kidnap me and my family to use us for the Animus." and Kitaro said, "They wanted the Pieces of Eden so badly that they are willy to kidnap whole families?" Kagome then said to Kitaro, "During my time here, I learn many dark truths about Abstergo. Their company is the modern face of the Order of the Ancients that Sango battle against and they also go by other name as the Knight Templars. They are taking descendants of those whose encounter Pieces of Eden in the past, which include members of the Assassins, their own order, and those catch in their secret war that they fought since the creation of mankind. Using the Animus, they can track down the Pieces of Eden, which make their hunt a bit cheating." and Kitaro realized on this moment that he is now in something much bigger than him.

Imperfect Nothing: Missing Words

The Aishi Syndrome.

A syndrome that I am familiar with. I knew someone who had the syndrome. It is a dangerous one. If a person is diagnosed with this syndrome, they must be treated immediately. They must be isolated at all costs. This syndrome must not be underestimated.

The story about someone with Aishi syndrome takes place in a town called Vicinity. It was the year 2003 when a murder occurred at Vicinity high school. The victim was Kiyomaro Takamine, a Freshman who started attending high school. He was the most intelligent student at Vicinity high. Students admired Kiyomaro's skills and charisma. Kiyomaro helped the students in trouble and offered advice.

Kiyomaro had a crush on his childhood friend, Suzume Mizuno, a Freshmen girl that would become a person of interest to the police later on. Kiyomaro was discovered dead in the boys' restroom. The cause of his death was a stabbing. Kiyomaro suffered forty-two stab wounds to the point his head was almost decapitated. Whoever stabbed Kiyomaro in a ferocious matter must have abhorred him.

Suzume did not take the news well. She cried and mourned for her childhood friend for days. Eventually, she returned to school and spent time with her best friend, Mariko Nakamura. Soon, things started to get strange, and I noticed a pattern.

Every time Suzume socialized or befriended certain people, they disappeared from her life.

Suzume ended her friendship with Mariko. Ataru Moroboshi was arrested for murder. Rae Taylor was bullied. Hiroshi Yamanaka was poisoned. Aileen Lauren d'Autriche was rejected. A senior named N, aka Niles, was crushed to death. Mikoto Kujou was expelled. Shuutarou Mendou was burn to death. Alice Lendrott was matchmade with a boy named Viktor Radwell. And finally, Shinichi Kudou was defamed.

It wasn't a coincidence. Things happened to people who had a romantic or platonic love for Suzume. Shinichi and the private detective, Kogoro Mouri, investigated the students, and soon they learned that Suzume was being stalked by a junior student named Walter Radwell.

Shinichi had placed the pieces together. He believed Walter murdered Kiyomaro, Hiroshi, N, and Shuutarou while he sabotaged Suzume's female schoolmates and framed Ataru for murder.

Walter was arrested on charges of four murders. Soon, he was on trial. The trial lasted two days, and he was declared innocent due to a lack of concrete evidence. Shinichi and Mr. Mouri were devastated. Walter manipulated everyone by using his gentlemanly charms and having an excuse for every accusation. After the trial, as Mr. Mouri left the courthouse, Shinichi was cornered by Walter in an office room, and Shinichi would never forget the sight of Walter:

"His carmine-colored eyes looked soulless. His expression looked possessed. He told me he could make my death an accident, and I'd regret interfering with his love for Suzume. He warned me not to cross him again. However, I declared that it wasn't over yet, and I could find a way to expose him someday. Mr. Radwell had given me a deadly smirk, reminding me that he was declared innocent and no one wouldn't believe my words over his. He left me in the office room."

School life continued. That boy was still attending Vicinity high with no regrets. The girls believed he was innocent, while the boys had mixed feelings. Even his older brother, Viktor, was more afraid of Walter than ever. Their younger sister, Viola Radwell, became uncomfortable around Walter and soon left Vicinity high. She moved to a dorm room at Ytiniciv high school. She'd refused to live under the same roof as her brother, who was accused of murder.

As for me, I've always known Walter would cross the line to get what he wanted. Hell, he hated his older brother, and there's no doubt he'd murdered his fresh blood if Viktor was in love with Suzume.

The Aishi Syndrome.

The person who was diagnosed with this mental illness was Walter himself.

What is the Aishi Syndrome? Well, it is a syndrome that a person doesn't feel anything at first. They'd remained emotionless, and they'd see the world in black and white. While socializing, they'd pretended to be happy, sad, excited, and upset, but deep inside, they'd feel nothing. The only "cure" to this syndrome was a person.

Suzume was the trigger to Walter's awakened emotions. He had fallen in love with her at first sight and was too terrified to lose her to someone else. When he spotted Kiyomaro interacting with Suzume, Walter knew what must be done. Kiyomaro must be eliminated at any cost.

Kiyomaro was Walter's first rival and victim. Eventually, he also eliminated his other rivals in different ways.

As for Suzume, she went missing. Some people believed she committed suicide or ran away from home due to the stress of losing her friends. Walter graduated from Vicinity high in the following year and left town. No one wouldn't see him for a long time.

A few years later, I'd seen Suzume with a two-year-old child at a playground park. Suzume was happy and sang a song to her daughter.

"Arthur?" She greeted me with widened eyes.

I'm Arthur Kirkland, Walter's former friend and the only person who believed Shinichi Kudou and Kogoro Mouri. I smiled at her gently. The truth was Walter kidnapped Suzume. He knew he wouldn't handle possible rejection from Suzume if he'd admitted his feelings to her.

I know I am on Walter's murder list now, and I'd die trying to expose him.

[Akari takes Dan (Ultraseven) and Shin (Zero) through the ARD customs where the scanners start to short out when scanning Dan.]

Security officer, into his radio: Shut it down!

[The guard is silence by the person on the other end.]

Security officer: What? You sure?....Okay.

[The guard turns to the Moroboshi family.]

Security officer: Sorry for the inconvenience, sir. Somethings wrong with our scanner, it seems to think you're dead.

Dan: Ah, yes. I was listed as missing in action a few years back.

Officer: Regardless of the reason, my captain wants to see you at her station it's just pass the doors up front you can't miss it.

{The three do as the officer instructed, they are greeted by a tired looking woman in her early 40s waiting for them.]

Captain Akine : Yes. I see the problem already Mr. Moroboshi, my console says you're dead...

Dan: How can you be so sure that it's truly me and not someone pretending to be me?

Captain Akine: This outpost has the best scanners on earth that money can buy, It could get DNA off of skin flakes. Plus, I'm fairly sure it's you. You worked with my father after all.

Dan: Your father?

Captain Akine: *Nods* Sugo.

Dan: Sugo's child...Right, he did have a girlfriend he was talking about marriage last I heard.

Captain Akine: Right, Now. Let's focus on your situation. Now usually, you'd have to go through security admin to reactivate your IDs, Then through Customs and immigration for a citizenship card to gain access to both the Alien refugee and Earth residential districts themselves, and then maybe visit the Bank while your at it: spending 50 years dead is popular tax dodge...

[Dan and Shin looked blue in the face causing Akari to snicker at them.]

Captain Akine: But.. I can see you're a busy man. So how about I just press this little button here and we call it done?

Shin: Is that even legal?

Captain Akine: Would you rather sit in stuffy room for hours with 60 other people waiting for some machine to call your number just so you can fill out what is essentially just the same form 50 times over? or would you rather take my shortcut?

Dan: Do it.

Captain Akine, presses the button: There now you're already to go, enjoy your stay in the ARD and try to stay out of trouble, tensions are high enough already.

Akari, as they're leaving the station: You got lucky it was her that flagged you guys down and not the other captain.

Shin: Does the other captain not like Aliens sharing space with humans?

Akari, looks disgusted: He had lady Valky who runs a bakery a few blocks from here arrested. Her crime? For having a human son! He had that poor woman held up in interrogation for hours cos' he was so convinced that she had kidnapped the boy; despite everyone showing him the proof that she had legally adopted the kid...

Shin: That's awful.

Akari: Yeah...Luckily, everything was okay in the end; The UFG stepped in and he wisely backed off, but that fool had no idea how close he came to starting a riot on both sides with his narrow mindedness... My place is this way.

[Akari proceeded to show her father and brother around the Alien refugee district before taking them junkyard she was living in.]
