Amidst the current Yuu hype (which is only natural considering we´ve been teased for like 4 years now) I want to return to a new mechanic that was released not too long ago: Brand new personal memoria given to us in the Alinas Atelier event.

You´ve probably seen them around before: Ren can burn her HP down to 20% and gain enough MP for an instant Magia, Shizuku carries 50% chance to crit and Natsuki gets permanent MP regen and so on.

Now this opens up a lot of opportunites for older units to gain new power (that and the possibility to go beyond 100 SE). As I was thinking about which units could be next for this treatment I started thinking about possibly the most deserving squad there is: Mikazuki villa.

Aside from maybe Yachiyo who is a beginner friendly mirrors unit they serve very little to no purpose beyond very early play. (For example Tsurunos magia spam evade cheese is outdone by Oriko). So I think those girlies should get the next set of powerful memoria.

Before I get into my ideas of new tools for them girlies I want to talk about Iroha first. Iroha was promoted to a faction leader in arc 2 and all of the faction leaders have aura buffs which provide them and their teammates passive buffs for up to 5 turns. (e.g. Himena providing aqua attack up or Rabi providing damage up and damage cut etc.). Iroha as we all know does not carry an aura buff (the only non 4* unit to actually carry said buffs is Mayabu with damage cut to all).

So I think her new personal memoria should actually be an aura buff for the entire team that works similiar to the SE nodes from other leaders. I was thinking about something like Ailment res up + MP/HP Regen to all as nod to her protective and inspiring personality (plus having a unit provide passive mp to her team will give Iroha some usage for people with limited or no mp batteries). Now as far as the other girls I´m not sure if they should get selfish effects or be given aura buffs too in an attempt to breath some life into them.

Tsuruno could play into the luck idea. She could give her team something like attack/damage up or damage increase while also giving them chances (like chance to crit or to evade, maybe some anti-evade) for some fun rng. Otherwise I could see her pull up with attack up at full HP and a generous chance to evade similiar to Vampire Nagisa and Chisato.

As for Felicia I could see her gaining a generous amount of damage against witches up since she used to get super focused on witches and going on rampages. Other than that I have no clue what to give her so hit me up with any ideas.

Idk what to with Sana. Should we repeat the Sasara treatment and give her access to a turn of taunt and endor adept (MP when hit)? Honestly I´m just gonna skip this one tho it would be funny if she got some super agressive memoria in homage to her doppel.

Yachiyo is super basic but whether selfish or team wide - give her blast MP. Actually her granting blast mp to her teammates would be funny since all of Mikazuki villa have at least two blast discs. But that would be lowkey busted since it would also stack with pre-existing blast mp.

So yeah that was my unstructed ramble rant about the potential of the new personal memoria for our beloved Mikazuki Squad.

GQJapan Interview with Nishikido Ryo for Netflix Series "Let's Get Divorced "I wondered if it was okay to live more selfishly".

We interviewed Nishikido Ryo, who returns to tv dramas after a four-year absence to act in the role of a man who is playing both of the main characters in "Let's Get Divorced," which has been available exclusively worldwide on Netflix since June 22 (Thursday). He talks at length about everything from the appeal of the character Kano Kyoji to "What is true coolness?”

Actor Nishikido Ryo is back.

In the Netflix series "Let's Get Divorced", a new member of parliament, Shoji Taishi (Matsuzaka Tori), and a national actress, Kurosawa Yui (Naka Riisa), who play a friendly couple for the sake of public appearances, overcome various obstacles and work together to achieve their goal of "getting a divorce". Nishikido plays Kano Kyoji, a "sexy self-styled artist" who meets Yui by chance and becomes close to her.

His presence brings a thrill to Yui, who has grown tired of their married life, as he goes to play Pachinko every day and creates mysterious "artworks" in his garage-like home, which he calls his studio. Yui says that he is "a person who’s alive yet dead." He is uninhibited in what he says and does, and is certainly a man of a certain sex appeal.

This film was co-written by Kudo Kankuro and Oishi Shizuka. They did not write one story each, but rather took turns writing a little bit at a time, as if they were exchanging diaries. Kudo-san said of Kyoji, "I wondered if women find that kind of thing sexy. To be honest, I had no idea, so I'm glad Oishi-san wrote it for me (laughs). I understood now that it’s onscreen.” Oishi, on the other hand, said, "He’s like a Zenkyoto (a radical student leftist) man from a generation older than mine. It may not be the kind of character that scriptwriters today would write, but the older generation liked that kind of character" (both from press materials).

Indeed, the character has the air of an 'outcast hero' from a Showa-era girls' manga. How did Nishikido himself see the appeal of such a character?

“I think it's about not being influenced by your surroundings. I like what I think is good, and I am interested in what I am interested in, but not in what I am not interested in. With so much information available on TV and social networking sites, I think it's quite a difficult thing to do, and it makes you feel insecure. But Kyoji is not afraid to be true to himself. Or rather, he probably doesn't even think about how he is seen.”

What is true coolness?

There is a scene in the film where opposition MP Go Soda (Yamamoto Kōshi), who is the candidate opposing Taishi, gives his best speech and the audience is engulfed by it, when Kyoji, who is present, clearly points out Soda's misstatement. This scene shows what is at the core of this seemingly free-spirited man. He is aloof, but has a passion lurking deep within him. This part of him is so compatible with the image of Nishikido himself that I feel that no one else could have played the role but Nishikido. When I told him this, he said, "Really? I'm glad to hear you say so.”

“Of course I hoped that Kyoji's coolness would be attractive, but that doesn't mean I should try to make myself attractive or act sexy. It would be very embarrassing/cringe-worthy, the moment it is found out. I was performing while praying "I hope it looks like that."”

By the way, there are several scenes in the drama where Kyoji smokes, and it is said that Nishikido's suggestion was used in one of the scenes.

“When they asked me what to do after smoking outdoors, I said, 'Why don't you put it out on the soles of your shoes?' You can't litter, and it wouldn't be cool to step on it and pick it up. It's not really an idea, though.”

The relationship between Yui and Kyoji eventually becomes known toTaishi, and the two confront each other directly towards the end of the story. Born and raised in a political family, Taishi exchanges words with Kyoji, a type he has never met before, and honestly admires him, saying 'You have something I don't have' and 'You are endlessly free, amazing'. But after he leaves, Kyoji throws the paper cup he was holding onto the floor.

“It's amazing that Taishi would come to that place, isn’t it? Kyoji probably already felt defeated at that point. He (Kyoji) thought he was going to bite him, but he didn't. Because Daishi probably didn't even think he was bitten, and he probably left without even realising he had won, right?"

After saying this, Ryo added, in typical Osaka fashion, "I don't know!" he added with a laugh.

“I don't really know. Ah, I just know that when I saw the video of that scene, I thought to myself, "I'm so tiny”. The sense of scale with Taishi was just too different. (Laughs)”

When I ask him “Who do you think is cooler, Taishi or Kyoji?” he said "They are both cool, aren't they?"

“Sorry for the half-assed answer, but .......I think each of them have their own cool and bad parts, not just the two of them, but everyone in this piece is cool in their own way. I thought Yui, Henry, and Yui's manager all had their own coolness.”

I want to have fun doing fun things.

Kyoji's attitude of knowing who he is & doing what he wants, which is the basis of his coolness, is also something that is quite difficult to maintain while living in society. Were there any parts that resonated with you?

“I myself can say that I am living as I please, or I should say, I am living the life I want to live. It is not that I am only doing what I want to do, but I think it is okay to live more selfishly, and I have come to value my time more”

As noted at the beginning of this article, this is the first time in four years that he has appeared in a drama. In addition, among the dramas in which he has appeared in the past, Ryusei no Kizuna (2008) and Gomen ne Seishun! (2014), which, like this drama, was written by Kudo Kankuro and produced by Isoyama Akira, and both were directed by Kaneko Fuminori.

“When I was working on 'Ryusei no Kizuna', Kaneko-san kept telling me to 'be careful with my enunciation” I thought I was speaking clearly. When I met him for the first time in a while in Gomen ne Seishun, I was told that my speaking had improved a lot. I think he said that once or twice this time, too. He only praised my fluency (laughs)."

Producer Isoyama, who was present at the interview, added, "Of course, that's not all. (Director Kaneko) was very complimentary, saying 'You thought it through very well’.” To which ryo replied "I ‘m embarrassed that he thought so! It's so lame” He exclaimed in agony.

“I just didn't happen to have any chance in the past four years, so I didn't really feel that I had a gap in my drama career. Now that I've been approached, I just want to do my best, and if I'm invited to do something like this, I want to go anywhere. Not only in acting, but I also want to enjoy myself while doing things that look like fun.”

He goes where his heart takes him - to be happy, comfortable and free. It is this lack of self-consciousness that attracts and holds people's attention.

It’s not fair.” He huffed at that, almost annoyed with himself, because talking about how things just weren’t fair sounded childish even to him. He was not really used to being angry, but he had been feeling something anger-adjacent a lot lately.

“Yeah, I guess you’re right,” he mumbled, sounding wholly unconvinced. “But like, how are you supposed to know when someone is ‘the one’? Because he felt like the one, but clearly he wasn’t. I understand why some people just choose to die alone with thirty cats now.”

Working as a bartender full time really did have its benefits, especially for a playboy like Kazuma. He loved the loud music and the bright lights and spending every moment meeting and talking to new people. Plus the pay was pretty good when you used flirtation as a tactic to get tips. There was one customer tonight though that was really catching his attention. The moment they locked eyes and spoke to each other in their native tongue, Kaz was pulled in by his intrigue. Ryo was gorgeous and he thanked his lucky stars that he happened to step out for a smoke break at the same time as the other Japanese demigod. When an intimate touch was dragged across his back Kaz pressed his tongue against the side of his cheek. He gave the other a smirk and stepped closer with a look up and down over Ryo’s dress covered figure. “I mean... I’d toss all the other numbers I got tonight if you gave me yours. That’s the only one I’m really interested in.” He winked at the other with a cheeky grin and took another drag off his cigarette.

House Call

Finally the long day at the hospital was over. Camazotz never complained, and today was no different. He felt fulfillment from doing his work at the hospital which was more than when he was working in Xibalba. But even there, he had never been one to complain or feel disdain about his work. He did what needed to be done and then enjoyed his free time. That’s how he had always been. This week had been perticularly busy though, a bit like a rollercoaster as he had many very different tasks to handle and guide at once. Director Sun had done his part though, as Caça expected from him, and so everything had gone smoothly. Now, it was time for some relaxation. 

He hadn’t been able to visit Babylon for a little bit now, nor any other partners. And so he had previously set an appointment for the end of this week so he could really enjoy it and almost reward himself with it. This time though he had asked for the appointment to be a house call. He never really made use of the service before but he had enough trust in Cal, his recent choice from Babylon, that it would be fine. And honestly, after the week he simply wanted to enjoy a night at home with someone who’d be able to help him relax and relax with him. He was on his way to his home now, where Cal was probably waiting for him already. It had been a long work day so it was about 8.30 in the evening when he had left for home. The apartment in the Mayan complex that he had carefully decorated over the years. It mostly had brown hues with tints of purple and red. Most of the items in the apartment were gifts from old lovers. He wasn’t much of a collector of anything really himself, but he kept items that had been given to him. Along with those was his furniture consisting of mostly oak wood, bulky but sophisticated pieces and patterned rugs. Like with anything his furniture also was carefully picked by him. For the sitting furniture and his bed his demands were that it had to be comfy and soft first of all, and not too simple and modern. As such the pieces were all in line with the rest.

When it was 9pm Camazotz finally arrived to his apartment, putting in the new pincode to his door which he had changed it to for that day. The occassion that Cal was going to be inside before him meant he had changed the code in the morning and was going to change it back later after he had left. As he entered he heard his cuckoo clock sound a last time to sign that it was indeed 9pm. The god untied and then took off his shoes, leaving them in a little shoe cabinet by the door. With his jacket over his arm, long and confident strides he walked through the hall into his living room where he was to be greeted by hopefully Cal.

Not To Disappoint Ft. Ryo & Illia

It’s the ‘what if’s’ that have her wavering just outside the entrance to the tea house. They’re what had her pacing around her apartment almost endlessly much to the annoyance of her cats. They’re what had her change her outfit at least several times before returning to the first one she threw on. They’re what had her practicing her smile and mannerisms in the mirror for at least an hour. They’re what have her stomach up in knots from the overwhelming idea of not making a good first impression.

As soon as she’d caught wind of having a half-sibling present on the island, naturally she went out of her way to find out who exactly it was and where the highest chances of running into them would be. It was a daunting task going around, asking people if they’d seen any other children of Izanami going around. Especially asking the people that didn’t want to talk to her.

That in itself had been such a misadventure and had given her such a migraine that she could hardly stand to leave her apartment for a day or two. Nevertheless, she got the information that she wanted, so it was all worth the trouble. Watanabe Ryo was his name, and she couldn’t wait to meet him. Though Illia did pray that he’d at least like her a little bit.

On the outside, she stands there with such a straight face that a lot of people would find it hard to discern any stress or turmoil. But on the inside, her head threatens to overwhelm her with unwanted thoughts. ‘What if he didn’t like her?’, ‘what if he’s heard what other people have said about her?’, ‘what if he already knows she exists and just never bothered to reach out. What if he didn’t want to?’ All of it has the young demigod on edge. She almost turns around on her heel to go back home. But she stops and takes a deep breath.  

She tells herself that she’s being ridiculous. But at the same time, she knows that she only cares this much because this is important to her. She wants him to be important to her. It wouldn’t have mattered as much if it were any one else or for any other reason. So,she takes another deep breath as she steps inside. “Oh my, my, my.~” Celosia tutted with a click of his teeth calmly, drinking in the beautiful sight laid out for him. Another pang curled the attention to his sweet tooth - his own little spark of craving rearing it’s head on him again. “When I asked for a most delectable sight, I admit this is not what I had in mind. Though, I’m not arguing.” With a slight movement of his foot, Celly pushed the door closed behind him before carrying himself closer to the beautiful male on the bed in front of him. Fingers lifted from his side, withdrawing from the warmth of his jacket pocket, itching to touch. The only vice he and his blood mother seemed to share; though, anyone could tell with a glance as the two stood beside each other they were one in the same. 

Fingertips met ankle gently, drawing in a non-chalant wave of patterns along the silky thigh highs, creeping up towards open skin that did not change his easy glide. Well taken care of, he mused internally, fingers wrapping the male’s inner thigh as he bent at the waist to lean towards him. Free hand moved to give a gentle tug at the silver cuffs, ensuring their security. “Anything I should know before this little.... escapade of ours begins? Or perhaps, any knowledge I can offer you~?”

One of the most interesting changes this anniversary is the introduction of additional spirit enhancement nodes. Madokami had to be the most power crept anniversary unit in the game so she deserved it.

Speaking of power creep it's undeniable just how much of it has been going on the last one and a half, maybe even the last two years. Muffin made an excellent post where she talked about the issue and I have to agree with her statements.

Anyway I think this new feature could be a good way to somewhat address power creep by uplifting old and outclassed units, hell even units that were never good to begin with.

There are so many units that have to deal with contradictory gamedesign (just think of the entire roster of girls that want to cycle magia but are stuck with ABBCC).

It doesn't have to be a collection of game breaking new stuff for older girls but at least something to help them keep up.

For example they could give something like 5 mp regen per turn to units like Hazuki, Ryo or Hinano who want to magia but only get one accele disc. Or they could give blast mp to older units like Kyoko or Holina since nowadays units get to both blast and magia. More endor adept and weak mp to old tanks (Sasara has weak mp but not Kokoro)

Another example could be just a bunch more stats since units like Melissa or Tsukasa get like almost no stats from 100 SE.

Anyway that was my short ramble about the potential of new SE nodes to help old characters keep up without going into existing kits and changing things (which the devs have done before)

It was a lovely gesture to be invited. Ryo was starting to understand that any event that happens on the island is for the whole island. The Japanese demigod had been wondering if he should go or not..he isn’t exactly close to the couple even if Amaterasu is apart of the same pantheon. However the younger was growing close to @mptsukiyomi The raven wasnt going to miss out a chance on being there for Tsuki or a moment to wear another stunning dress to let his more feminine side shine.
