Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)

A l'affiche depuis le 31 août dernier, Everything Everywhere All at Once n'est pas passé inaperçu. Avec notamment un score de 95% sur Rotten Tomatoes, le film de Daniel Kwan et Daniel Scheinert se voit encensé par la critique depuis sa sortie, de même sur les réseaux sociaux où les spectateurs applaudissent le travail des Daniels.

Le synopsis est simple.

Evelyn Wang (Michelle Yeoh) croule sous les responsabilités, entre la gestion de la laverie familiale en perdition et une relation mère-fille plus qu'en péril. Soudain une autre version de son mari apparait et l'entraine au sein du multivers. Evelyn fait alors face aux différentes vies qu'elle aurait pu mener, mais très vite il faut se concentrer car une force obscure menace l'équilibre du multivers et seule notre héroïne semble capable de tout arranger.

Jusque-ici l'histoire nous parait simple, banale, et non sans nous rappeler les derniers films des studios Marvel, Spider-Man : No Way Home (2021) et Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022).

Mais EEAAO est bien plus que ça. Sous couvert de science-fiction le film aborde le thème de la famille et des choix de vies.

#spoiler# On comprends très vite que la force obscure menaçant l'équilibre du multivers n'est autre que la fille d'Evelyn, et que pour sauver le monde il faudra d'abord qu'elle arrange leur relation.

Et le film fonctionne bien. C'est déjanté, loufoque et absurde et pourtant si beau, si touchant, si juste. Une véritable pépite pour les yeux, un film de haute qualité. Les plans sont réfléchis, esthétiques et empruntent les codes de nombreux genres cinématographiques, de la science-fiction aux classiques du kung-fu.

Les réalisateurs ne nous offrent pas uniquement deux heures de divertissement, EEAAO est un chef d'oeuvre du cinéma auquel vous penserez encore plusieurs jours après l'avoir vu. Car une question domine, quand notre existence n'est rien qu'une poussière parmi la multitude des univers, quand rien n'a d'importance, comment comptez vous vivre ?

“The Idea of You” is a beautiful story about a 40-year-old women who falls in love with a 24-year-old pop star. Anne Hathaway didn’t know who the singer was, but was at his concert for her daughter. She ended up breaking up with the pop star after seeing it impact her daughter’s life from all of the negative media attention. 5 years later, the pop star came back for Anne Hathaway and wanted to be with her…they never stopped loving each other. I highly recommend and will watch again.

Ram Setu Movie Review

RAM SETU is the story of an archeologist’s life-changing expedition. The year is 2007. Dr. Aryan Kulshrestha (Akshay Kumar) goes to Bamyan, Afghanistan for a joint expedition with a Pakistani team. Here, he excavates ancient treasure belonging to an Indian king. Suddenly, the Talibans attack the site. Aryan escapes, but at the same time, he manages to take the treasure chest with him. At a press conference, he happens to speak about being an atheist and it grabs all the headlines, more than how he risked his life to preserve history. Meanwhile, Indrakant (Nassar), owner of Pushpak Shipping, requests the government of India to dismantle the Ram Setu, as part of his Sethusamudram Project. He believes this will save fuel and reduce the travel time between India and Sri Lanka. This leads to massive anger in the country and a petition is filed in the Supreme Court. The government, which is hand in gloves with Indrakant, takes the help of the Archeological Society of India (ASI). Aryan has just been promoted as Joint Director General of the ASI. The government feels an atheist like him can help them. He is asked to submit a report stating that Ram Setu is a naturally made structure and is not man-made. Aryan asks for time to research on this, but he's not allowed to do so. The report submitted by him, however, also raises question on Ramayana. It leads to a major controversy. But Indrakant is happy. He asks him to go to Ram Setu and prove to the world that it is not man-made. Aryan reaches Rameshwaram. Project Manager Bali (Praveshh Rana), environmentalist Dr. Sandra Rebello (Jacqueline Fernandez) and Dr. Gabrielle (Jennifer Piccinato) are also enlisted to help Aryan in his mission. As per some research, Lord Ram was born 7000 years ago. Aryan has to prove that the Ram Setu predates the birth of Lord Ram. As he begins his research, he realizes that he might be wrong in his belief and that Ram Setu was indeed built by Lord Ram and the Vanar Sena. What happens next forms the rest of the film.
