On Monday, top executives from several major Hollywood studios will converge on Las Vegas for CinemaCon, the group formerly known as the National Association of Theatre Owners’ annual trade show. NATO, now known as Cinema United, hosts the week-long event at Caesars Palace.

Gold Derby highlights the potential Oscar contenders with the most to gain during CinemaCon next week. They include upcoming movies with Ayo Edebiri and Jeremy Allen White.

𝐈 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐋𝐮𝐜𝐲 (𝟏𝟗𝟓𝟏-𝟏𝟗𝟓𝟗) 1x10 - "Lucy Is Jealous of a Girl Singer"

This was one of my favourite shows growing up, and watching it today, it still holds up. The show was innovative for its time, and both Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz broke boundaries in mainstream Hollywood by portraying a Cuban immigrant as the successful showbiz model (Arnaz), after TV executives pushed for Ball to play the successful spouse in the show's developmental stage. It was one of the first TV shows to be use a multi-camera setup whilst airing live, meaning the first take was the only take. Lucille Ball also was the first working mother in showbusiness to develop a designated area at Desilu Studios (located in what is now Paramount Studios in Hollywood, California) for other mothers to bring their kids in with them and still be able to do their job whilst having the reassurance of their kids being in a safe place, not so far from where they are. Desi Arnaz has always been the subject of controversy, but a deep dive into his life and his dedication shows he really was a vital 50% of Desilu Studios, and the whole show ran on the back of the genius minds of both him and his wife. Desilu Studios went on to also produce other well-known shows, including Star Trek.

Here are some photos I took of the space outside where their offices used to be in the 50s. The building with the blue door and archway was where Lucille Ball's office was, and the office behind the big tree in the back was Desi's. The garden area was designed to be a replica of a section of their actual garden at their home, and just behind the hedge in the third photo was the space they originally used for a playground for the children of the working mothers at the time. (I visited Paramount back in February of 2019 as part of a college film studies trip to LA.)

Of the classic old hollywood big 8 film studios which is your favorite

For me...On one hand Warner Bros has Bugs Bunny ......On the other Universal has Frankenstein.....Think Universal wins for me

I think the movie studios give AI too much credit. Sure, we COULD do amazing things with it, but have they even TRIED using AI? AI generated music is bad, AI generated images always have some deformity (like 8 fingers on one hand, wonky eyes, etc), and AI generated writing can be repetitive and bad. I certainly hope to god I never see what AI generated cgi people look like. And it's going to be a very long time till AI is perfect, if we'll reach that at all.

Movie studios are fucking dumbasses if they think they could easily replace people.

Since current movie studios are falling apart. We need a new one. I would call it Dreamscape Studio and it would focus on mainly fantasy stories.
