Still don't have a computer, but I do have a basic cartoon Lydia cosplay like in my teen years <3
#my face#lydia deetz#I remember when I was a little girl (13/14) I used to try and study how to do movie Lydia's hair all the time#but I couldn't figure it out and I don't recall finding anyone on YouTube to teach it#so I shorthanded her cartoon look even though I'm a poser who watched maybe 2 episodes of it top#my sister watched it a lot more cause she was little when it was on tv#lydia and beetlejuice dated in it in a way which I liked when I was 14 and now I'm like.... okay......#odd choice#odd choice...#but I still love her look#I should watch the whole thing...#also SPOILERS but she should have married him in the 2nd movie cause like she had a good run right he's gonna keep haunting her#I mean damn might as well just get it over with#anyway#one time I went with this hair and a velvet dress to school cause it was a free day and I fell in this outfit in front of everyone#especially seniors damn they were assholes but I slayed#I also famously wanted to look like Jennifer Tilly in Bride of Chucky at this time#so original style icons were Lydia Deetz and Tiffany Valentine Ray#anyway 2#wmp.txt

i know terrifier 2 was like a hit or a miss for people, but that scene (and i know people know what scene i'm referring to) like messed me up in theaters. i don't know if it's because the practical effects are gorgeous and look so real, or that it was so brutal. now i'm not a wimp for splatter horror, but there's something about that scene that had me react badly but not react badly to like movies like hostel or saw
#idk call me a poser for not gagging during saw & hostel but gagging during that scene#terrifier 2#horror#horror movies

if you dont mind sharing, what are some of your favorite ska songs/bands?
I will admit I am not a huge band person I tend to be more of a "pick whatever random songs sound good" person, so I can't recommend any good bands. I also listen to Ska Punk, which is a subgenre of Ska... and Punk. So I am not a good authority on Ska songs to listen to I am just someone who is banned from being passed the aux cord...
But some of my favorite songs include:
No Children - Ska (cover)
Quinto Patio Ska
Everything Went Numb
S F D D
And songs by Reel Big Fish tbh. I know I just said I don't listen to specific bands but Reel Big Fish has some pretty good songs like...
Sell Out
And their Take on Me cover
Here's my disclaimer, though: I am not into music subcultures I just listen to whatever sounds good (and jazzy punk with horns sounds good), so I could be giving absolutely awful music recommendations that anyone who is especially into Ska (and more specifically Ska Punk) might find egregious. I personally just grab whatever song sounds good and add them to my forever long playlist.
Also the Jabberjaw (Running Underwater) song from Pain used for the Cartoon Network Boomerang Groovies is probably the reason I enjoy Ska punk so much, and it has been in my playlist for years now:
If nothing else in this list interests you, I require everyone by law to listen to Jabberjaw Running Under Water by pain and watch the Cartoon Network Boomerang Groovie video of it. I used to watch Boomerang a million times, and this was probably the only Groovie I really enjoyed watching and didn't go to the bathroom during.
#im very embarassed about being open with my music tastes because I feel like a poser 100% of the time#but im not really claiming to be a part of any music subcultures im moreso just someone who likes what I like#and is banned from using bluetooth or the aux in the car#so im owning it#here's some songs I listen to that are ska (specifically ska punk)#and if someone who is more knowledgeable on the topic and is a part of the subculture wants to add on please do#and if you trash on me for my music tastes that is fair#half of my songs on my playlist are indie songs of debatable quality ya know?? so im not the best music authority#i like my punk songs with horns ya know??#i need some brass in there#trust me my number 1 song on spotify was Lucky Ducks from the Bobs Burgers movie#and my number 2 song was the instrumental version of Lucky Ducks from the Bobs Burgers movie#and no other bobs burgers songs#so I am NOT the person to ask for music recommendations#I once annoyed my family by adding europop to the roadtrip playlist#I have the entire Cats broadway cast recording on CD and my 3 favorite songs on my main playlist#am I talking myself down because I am not confident in myself and scared of judgement from others for my music choices? yes#but also I am speaking from experience that no one lets me touch the aux cord for a REASON

dinner in america is such a “take what you want from it and leave the rest” movie for me because i do think it’s very cute and i can buy into some of the wish fulfillment nature of the story but admittedly there are some parts that really don’t work for me, there are some parts that fall a little flat either in terms of the characters or humor, and the pacing is a bit of a challenge tbh. but it’s unbelievable what the human brain can overcome by virtue of simply Just Liking That Guy
#idk i just like that guy#obviously i’m a loser girl enjoyer but i have some qualms about how infantilized patty is throughout the script#it must be said i worry how much of the wish fulfillment thing is about guys wanting to date fairly naive young women who don’t know things#and who are ‘innocent’ and easy to take advantage of etc#but i also think that a LOT of the wish fulfillment thing is being a young woman in the world for the first time#feeling unsure about how you make sense of the world and your place in it#feeling pretty inexperienced wrt intimacy etc#and having someone see you very clearly for who you are and not caring about you figuring your shit out#and just liking you and wanting to be with you and thinking the stuff that makes you a freaky little weirdo is rad af#so like simon’s narrative role ends up being WAY more mpdg than patty’s and that actually saves the movie for me lol#anyway sorryyyyy for turning into a kyle gallner fan blog. frankly predictable behavior from tumblr user ‘devilsskettle’ though tbqh#also this movie is like. if may from may (2002) grew up in a healthy family and found somebody who could match her energy#instead of that asshole poser she gets involved with#so good for her. definitely part of the weird girl cinematic universe#honestly feels like a movie that should’ve come out in 2002 instead of 2020

HELL HOLE - Review
DISTRIBUTOR: Shudder
SYNOPSIS: In the heart of the remote Siberian wilderness, an American-led fracking team is dealing with pushback by government-appointed environmental advisors. Amidst the tension, the crew receives approval to commence drilling operations. However, their expedition uncovers an unimaginable horror - a dormant parasitic monster buried deep within the frozen rock. When they accidentally awakened from its slumber, the monstrous entity rampages through the mining facility, relentlessly searching for the ideal host to possess.
REVIEW: From the family-run production company Wonder Wheel Productions, led by Toby Poser, John Adams, and their daughters Lulu and Zelda Adams, comes HELL HOLE, a delightfully wicked creature feature. Their profound passion for genre films is evident in their cinematic creations such as this entertaining adult horrorfest. To borrow a line from George Carlin, their films possess the power to "infect your soul, curve your spine, and prevent the nation from claiming victory in war."
The plot is straightforward, timeless, and includes some delightful nuances. The film's opening sequence, set in 1814 Siberia during one of Napoleon's battles, is particularly hypnotic as it starts the film off with a thrilling bang. The characters are appealing and draw the viewer into the story. The environmentalists are a contrasting scientific duo, with one exuding a mad scientist persona. The drilling crew is humorous, and while some of their dialogue may seem excessive, their heartfelt performances make it enjoyable.
Regarding the creature mythology, some of the proposed scientific explanations are intriguing, while others are intentionally far-fetched to add dark satire. The plot has a subtle Lovecraftian touch, as it feels like a prehistoric Cthulhu, envisioned as a shell-less, tentacled mollusk seeking a refuge similar to a hermit crab, but with a distinct attitude. The writing skillfully blends genre elements, satisfying fans' cravings while simultaneously leaving them wanting more.
The creature design in HELL HOLE is a combination of the work of artist Todd Masters and his team at MastersFX and Trey Lindsay of Moondog Pictures. The creature is fast and elusive, and the filmmakers wisely chose to only show glimpses of it, maintaining an air of mystery and magic. This simple but effective design portrays the creature as a multi-tentacled beast with a mischievous personality, reminiscent, again, of a young Cthulhu. Despite the film's many "wtf" moments, the creature design never grows old.
HELL HOLE showcases exceptional production elements that enhance its overall impact. The film's location selection, cinematography, and editing are meticulously executed, contributing to the creature and special effects sequences' effectiveness. Moreover, John Adams' superb score elevates the film's atmosphere and energy. The music begins with classical movements to punk and heavy metal themes as the film intensifies and aligns perfectly with the film's tone, creating a harmonious blend of sounds and visuals.
In addition to the film's local cast it includes the filmmakers Toby Poser and John Adams, who create distinctive characters that captivate the audience. All the performances maintain the film's energy and engagement, ensuring a consistent level throughout. Notably, the accents of certain characters are a blend of authenticity and cheesiness, intentionally adding a humorous touch to the dark comedy.
After completing its festival run, HELL HOLE is set to make its premiere on Shudder on August 23rd. This is an excellent opportunity to subscribe to the platform if you haven't already. Prepare snacks, gather a selection of refreshing adult beverages, and get ready for a hell of a thrill ride. Additionally, Shudder offers other notable features by the Adams Family such as "The Deeper You Dig" and "HELLBENDER," which you might consider and make it a double feature night. While I have yet to see these films, I've added them to my watchlist and will rectify that soon enough. HELL HOLE has sparked my interest in the Adams Family films, and I eagerly anticipate their future projects. If you enjoyed the musical score of HELL HOLE, I recommend exploring the family's band, H6LLB6ND6R, whose music is available on Spotify.
