A Sendoff to Moto-Heaven: Ride in Peace Yamagata

In the 1988 cyberpunk motorcycle anime Akira, by acclaimed director, Katsuhiro Otomo, the protagonist, Kaneda learns of his biker buddy, Yamagata’s death. In turn, Kaneda proceeds to crash Yamagata’s bike in order to send it to him so that he may ride it in heaven.

It saddens me with a heavy heart that the legend and the GOAT of both anime and manga, the master, Akira Toriyama, has passed away. His creativity and comical genius along with his masterful character design touched the hearts of many across the world including myself. Not only was I a fan of his manga and anime but I am still till this day a fan of his interesting and bizarre motorcycle design.

Rest in Peace Toriyama Akira-san, legendary creative genius and motorcycle enthusiast.
