I think one thing that isn't talked about enough on tumblr (or I just haven't been here long enough) is artist burnout as a result of inactivity.

How difficult it is to keep going and to keep creating art, whether it be fiction, photography, hand drawn artwork, paintings, etc, when you are your only audience. When it just seems nobody is interested or no one takes the time out of their day to comment and let the creator know their work is enjoyed and loved!

I see a lot of posts encouraging people to interact, or those who have interactions talking about how motivating it is. It is incredibly motivating! And it's equally disheartening when there is none. Everyone says to create art for yourself and the love will come later. Lately, it's been one of the main reasons for my self doubt and depression. When you consistently work and create art for yourself but there's no one to enjoy it with you.

It's like taking a solo vacation. There are things that are so special about it and you're free to do whatever you want, but speaking from experience and someone who often travels alone, when you want to talk or turn to someone just to share in your enjoyment... No one is there.

Creator burnout is one of the most disheartening things in the world, and it takes serious guts and brain power to push through that mountain of doubt and to create even when no one else is there. Even when you're surrounded by people who do have that and are able to share that joy and love together.

Remember to comment, like, share, all of your favorite creators works. It means far more to them than you think and can spark motivation and life into the darkest most disheartened people.

Maybe this is a reminder to myself.

Writing Intimacy

i often see writers sharing a sentiment of struggling with writing kiss scenes which honestly bleeds into other portrayals of physical intimacy. i see it a lot in modernized styles of writing popularized by the recent trend in publishing to encourage short, choppy sentences and few adverbs, even less descriptive language. this makes intimacy come across awkward, like someone writing a script or clumsy recounting of events rather than a beautiful paragraph of human connection.

or just plane horniness. but hey, horny doesn't have to be mutually exclusive with poetic or sensual.

shallow example: they kissed desperately, tongues swirling and she moaned. it made her feel warm inside.

in depth example: she reached for the other woman slowly and with a small measure of uncertainty. the moment her fingers brushed the sharp, soft jaw of her companion, eliza's hesitance slid away. the first kiss was gentle when she finally closed the distance between them. she pressed her lips lightly to gabriella's in silent exploration. a tender question. gabriella answered by meeting her kiss with a firmer one of her own. eliza felt the woman's fingers curling into her umber hair, fingernails scraping along her scalp. everything inside eliza relaxed and the nervousness uncoiled from her gut. a warm buzz of energy sunk through her flesh down to the very core of her soul. this was right. this was always where she needed to be.

the first complaint i see regards discomfort in writing a kiss, feeling like one is intruding on the characters. the only way to get around this is to practice. anything that makes you uncomfortable in writing is something you should explore. writing is at its best when we are pushing the envelope of our own comfort zones. if it feels cringy, if it feels too intimate, too weird, too intrusive, good. do it anyway! try different styles, practice it, think about which parts of it make you balk the most and then explore that, dissect it and dive into getting comfortable with the portrayal of human connection.

of course the biggest part comes to not knowing what to say other than "they kissed" or, of course, the tried and true "their lips crashed and their tongues battled for dominance" 😐. so this is my best advice: think beyond the mouth. okay, we know their mouths are mashing. but what are their hands doing? are they touching one another's hair? are they scratching or gripping desperately at one another? are they gliding their hands along each other's body or are they wrapping their arms tightly to hold each other close? do they sigh? do they groan? do they relax? do they tense? are they comfortable with each other or giddy and uncertain? is it a relief, or is it bringing more questions? is it building tension or finally breaking it?

get descriptive with the emotions. how is it making the main character/pov holder feel? how are they carrying those emotions in their body? how do they feel the desire in their body? desire is not just felt below the belt. it's in the gut, it's in the chest, it's in the flushing of cheeks, the chills beneath the skin, the goosebumps over the surface of the flesh. everyone has different pleasure zones. a kiss might not always lead desire for overtly sexual touches. a kiss might lead to the desire for an embrace. a kiss might lead to the impulse to bite or lick at other areas. a kiss could awaken desire to be caressed or caress the neck, the shoulder, the back, the arms etc. describe that desire, show those impulses of pleasure and affection.

of course there is the tactile. what does the love interest taste like? what do they smell like? how do they kiss? rough and greedy? slow and sensual? explorative and hesitant? expertly or clumsily? how does it feel to be kissed by them? how does it feel to kiss them?

i.e. examine who these individuals are, what their motives and feelings are within that moment, who they are together, what it looks like when these two individuals come together. a kiss is not about the mouth. it's about opening the door to vulnerability and desire in one's entire body and soul.

Cozy Cabin Collection - Dining Room

Hey everyone!

The new set of the Cozy Cabin Collection is complete! With this collection I wanted to bring to life a dining room with a set table which can be perfect for a Thanksgiving dinner (or just a big, family dinner).

These items complement my previous set. I added some pieces from the Entryway collection to the main picture so you can see how they look together.

Some info I wanted to add: I removed the footprint of the table runner, the placemat, and the leaves table decor so your sims won't have any problem eating at the table.

I added some decor slots to the tables so you can pop there the placemats and they will be exactly under the plates the sims are using when they're eating. So it looks like they are using the table setting and it doesn't clip with their plates.

The candles have some extra swatches with bleeding candles which I saw lately on Instagram and I felt them quite fitting for Halloween!

The leaves table decor has an autumn color and green swatch, so they can be used in other seasons.

The table runners can be used on most in-game tables as well I matched the size.

And lastly, the ghosts lamp is free to download for anyone, a little gift for you to use it for Halloween!

i have like zero sympathy for professors structurally speaking and a lot more for students but just as a matter of rhetorical efficacy i do wish more students understood that a lot of the dysfunction of university teaching is the result of university policy and ultimately the result of universities being businesses / landlords first and foremost. like some professors are also just huge fucking assholes for sure but, simply replacing them with people who Care A Lot About Teaching won't actually do jackshit to make the classroom experience better so long as the institution itself has a bottom line it's serving by being, materially, a granter of pieces of paper that exist to be class barriers. however (and here is where sympathy for students also becomes limited) most students find these facts incredibly hard to recognise or to reconcile with their own political demands (such as they are) because they view themselves as temporarily embarrassed degree holders & are often primarily motivated by their own sense of being 'deserving' of the kinds of upper management / petit-bourgeois professional positions that these degrees are marketed as granting them.

The good news in the midst of this tragedy, that I am one of the 22 women from the developing world who have been awarded OWSD- PhD fellowship to pursue my PhD study in Malaysia🍉💪. Holder is one of my favourite characters to write for. I love trying to capture his voice, and I'm glad all the characters come across as true.

Rick Flag is very special to me, too. He was the first character I wrote for and 'Tis the Season is one of the most enjoyable series I have written. I missed writing it so much that I went back and added the extra chapter 🥰

I always intended to write a 3rd and final chapter of A Sky Full of Stars, and in fact, I already have it all planned out. Knowing there is still interest in this story gives me a lot of motivation to finish it, so thank you!!! Watch this space!

when i saw people talking about a blk cat noir i thought it was nino… would lowkey love to see that concept ngl. i really loved the bits about his friendship with adrien and how much he cares about him, but to me it seems they kind of forgot about that after season 2 and reduced nino to alya’s bf. i get that he’s a secondary character but he’s the male mc’s best friend, that should account for something. anyway after i saw the pic from zag i realized it wasn’t nino. too bad.

The cat partnered with alyabug during the retirement episode should’ve been Nino despite the issues and I will die on this hill
