Sunday services are late today im exhausted! 12 hour day = me just getting up! 😒 It's part of the gig! This is back breaking hard work! My Yaya/ Madre nkisi (mother of spirit) title is well earned. Palera duties yesterday prepping for 3 rayamiento's - initiations. If you hear women can't be paleras It's nonsense. If everything is balanced in nature, think... does it make sense? The answer is no! Most traditions initiations (there are many) include a cleansing, or bathing or removal of clothing. We are here for our nkisi but we are also here for our women. We have women coming into these traditions, we will have women handling these parts. I was asked why you don't see alot of information on Palo as you do for other traditions. This is an initiated system of secrets that we hold sacred. We protect it for a reason. Our connection with the spirits and thier secrets are not to be shared with the uninitiated. When you point out character flaws most misdirect their emotions rather than face the truth about themselves. As an elder I have a responsibility to speak the truth however spirit gives it to me. You have to learn the lessons if you want elevation. I didn't always like what my elders had to say either, yet they were right. If I only knew then what I know now I wouldn't have been popped by life and the consequences of my actions so hard.
