favourite thing: how normal he seems on the surface but take ONE glance beneath the surface and. theres so much going on. my whit speculations tend to get more notes and its easy to see why. its a testament to how well drdtdev does suspense and mystery which is. so important when your fans will have years to sit on the same content. he has a dead mom. he talked to teruko about his mom as if she were alive. he doesnt react to dead bodies- but he does to a locked elevator. and most importantly. nobody talks to him about this!!! we have to connect a lot of shit together by rewatching the series to build onto this side of him that has never actually been touched on by the characters or plot yet! its so cool

favourite line: "He's my friend! So of course I'll argue for his sake" a white lie which ends up becoming the truth, and forming one of the strongest (friend)ships in this story. very sweet.

brOTP: whitrei and whitruko. whitrei is majorly because of @.shira_ceres' gorgeous art and i think whitruko just have some cute scenes, mainly the laundry room scene (which i feel like is pretty underrated! whit is really sweet actually despite being so suspicious) but also some chapter 2 moments like lunch and the dressing room.

OTP: charwit. yep. groundbreaking. theyre definitely doing so much behind the scenes and i want to know about all of it. they're so. almost healthy but im staring at you whit

Hi hi! I'm sure you have loads of asks to get through. But if you may, we talk a lot about Chilchuck and Marcille (as we should 'cause they're great!), but since you've mentioned that Laios is your fave char, I would love to hear if you have any takes on Laios and Izutsumi's dynamic. I feel sometimes like she doesn't really like him...? It's funny but I also feel bad for him sometimes. ^^;;

You can’t ask me this and expect me to not drop everything else I’m doing. Little did you know they are my brotp. They are so special. Izutsumi gets along more with literally everyone in the party, but their relationship was so narratively important. They’re a really underrated and overlooked dynamic! I’ve had them as a topic at the back of my mind for a while, seeing someone else interested was all the push I needed gdbdg. This isn’t super long though, their issues with each other and lil arc is surprisingly brief and easy to summarize.

Laios & Izutsumi : what’s their deal with each other

For me one foundational train of thought for Izutsumi & Laios is, well. I read this awesome smart post deconstructing how Izutsumi’s beef with Laios is because she only just broke free and wants freedom without having someone ordering her around, and that’s sort of her whole character arc, isn’t it?

Isn’t Izutsumi’s picky eating a reflection of just that? In a life where she was a slave, she could at least control what she chose to eat and not eat. But then you might wonder, why did the narrative want her to grow out of that? Simply put, Izutsumi has a contrarian streak, one that is often extremely counterproductive. We saw that especially near the beginning, with how hard it was to make her work with them as a team. The issue is that now that she is free, she needs to not block out others by habit, to not lash out and refuse the healthy things in life, the people who want good for her. And that’s something that’s addressed in the succubus chapter as well as the fight against the ice golem, that she shouldn’t insist that she can do everything alone and fight against any team effort.

I love how onesided the Laios izutsumi dynamic is. He stays away from her generally, like doesn’t interact much, but he wants the cat pats… Which Izu made clear she did NOT want. And Chil is the only one in the party to not really see her as a cat for most of the story really, as shown in the relationship chart. He’s well meaning and wants the best for her, but he crowds her and doesn’t understand her at all. But he reallyyy wants to get along with her.

On the other hand, Izutsumi’s very existence and identity gave Laios an immense amount of hope that Falin could be brought back and still be herself and live well, even if she still had part of a dragon’s soul in her. I think that’s a lovely way to contrast the way that Izutsumi hates herself as a beastkin and her body, while Laios is like "Thank you, your existence as you are is the answer to all my worries" AND he super likes monster bodies and beastkins so it’s like. I think part of her hostility to him, besides feeling like he doesn’t understand her perspective and is maybe dismissive of what his party members want (which would remind her of Maizuru to some degree probably), is that he says all these good things about her being a beastkin, and it’s so jarring with her own version of herself that it raises her hackles and she reacts negatively, especially with how flippant and eager he is about it. But yes like, this is their first meeting!! Beyond his interest in her as a beastkin because of his monster hobby, Laios is just so very grateful for her and chooses to put his trust in her.

That’s interesting too, how one of the first things she asks about upon meeting them is why the hell they would want to rescue Falin even if she were to stay as a chimera-beastkin and still have the dragon soul in her. It’s her asking "Who would want to stick with a beastkin?" thinking that there’s something fundamentally wrong with having two souls and it making you unlovable. And their differing views on monsters do make them clash

But ultimately he chills out about her, which ironically enough shows in the way that they don’t interact much- He gives her space, and accepts that the beastkin may not like him. BUT at the end of the day they have an incredible bond of trust- Laios asks Izutsumi to kill him if something goes wrong with the Winged Lion. Not only is that sort of an intimate request and act, but that means that he leaves it up to Izutsumi’s judgement as well to know if it went wrong and when to act. He doesn’t only trust her skills but also her decision making, despite how tough they’ve been on each other in the past. He’s giving her the ultimate role, the go ahead to make or break their plan and be the difference between saving or destroying the world. And the last tidbit of info we get on their relationship in canon is when she hides behind him because she’s shy- Certified having befriended the cat moment. She trusts him and sees him as a safe person! And by saying that she’s shy, he’s showing that he did end up understanding her and how she is.

No matter the rocky parts of their relationship, they still have a strong foundation to it and were great allies and road companions, one of the few persons that had each other’s back when it mattered the most, both for the world and for their personal arcs. And post-canon, well…

He’s accepted that she needs space and whatnot, and meanwhile she’s accepted his interest in monsters and taken it in stride 😌 They end up having this familiarity with each other and even if there’s still a bunch of emotional distance imo and they never really got into the nitty gritty with each other not like her with Chilchuck or even Marcille, they see each other. They nod in greeting and respect each other from afar……. But also still tease and chat familiarly up close and if she offers him the opportunity for cuddles he will take it. You know, if it’s not her just falling onto him because she’s sleeping she has no respect.

Siblings behavior… If you know my take on the general party dynamics, I love thinking of Laios & Izu’s dynamic as him being an older brother figure where they have a love-hate relationship. Siblings rivalry. I have a bunch of funny little doodles I’ve wanted to make with them for months, the prompts for which are in the screenshot put below. But yeah like you know, they’re protective of each other but in that very critical way as well, truly forged by being stuck with each other for a while and having to come to understand and accept how the other is. Strife with conflict, but ultimately sticking with each other through thick and thin… Siblings siblings SIBLINGS SIBLINGS SIBLINGS. Sigh I just want them to cuddle on a couch and she purrs while simultaneously being snide and mean to him, they are so… Izutsumi is the character ever

Oh, which! While I’m here, I always recommend this fanfic about the two of them interacting and Laios treating her like a cat, it’s just fun and lighthearted. They’re suuuuch an underrated duo

If I find more Laios & Izu moments I think are worth sharing I’ll just add it onto this I think. We shouldn’t be too hard on him he was raised by dogs so cats are a whole other language to him but also, so wild to me that he never tried to engage with her on a cat level properly like where is the hissing at the catgirl and the cat taming moments, he sucks at socializing with cats smh smh.

I want to do an analysis of queerness in Dungeon Meshi with relationships and social norms and stuff and Izutsumi’s arc is gonna be central to that too. Her relationship with EVERYONE is SOOO GOOD AND IMPORTANT AND COMPELLING. But I guess this is where I leave it off for now, I hope I’m not forgetting any point I wanted to make hmmm

Man, what's not to like... she's just a fantastic character all around, probably the most likeable character in my personal opinion! I love her perserverance and her incredibly strong sense of self. Her character design is also just so incredible, probably the most unique and distinct character in the cast (shades?? almost 6ft?? abs??? a prosthetic leg???)

She's just so badass.... save me noona......

least favorite thing about them:

I don't really have anything that I dislike about Hyuna honestly. Maybe a cause of concern would be her habits of drinking and smoking but hey she's grown and reclaiming her freedom so really she can do whatever she wants with her life!

favorite line:

This might be a weird one but "A bird is set free​" from All-In has always stood out to me. It carries a certain feeling and just perfectly encapsulates Hyuna. The shot that's presented during this line is one of my favorite Hyuna frames too.

MIZI AND TILL!!! I love the idea of Till acting as an adopted little brother to Hyuna (is this a Hyunwoo coping mechanism? Who knows). Of course her fellow rebels Dewey and Isaac as well! I also think Hyuna and Ivan would get along (suprisingly enough). She'd have a hard time figuring him out at first, but eventually they'd warm up to each other and probably be gym buddies or something.

OTP:

Hyuluka is the given of course since they're paired together.... while I don't have any particularly strong feelings about it in a romantic sense I find their relationship incredibly interesting to analyze and think about. Hyuluka and Ivantill are really in the same boat of obssessive perfect guy x rebel who does not like them back 😭

A ship that I genuinely do find adorable (and super underrated) is offrec/actor Hyuluka!! Offrec Luka seems much more chill and down-to-earth but also kinda jaded because he had to go through the whole idol thing which he hated. Offrec Hyuna is bright, innocent and the youngest of the cast which I find really cute.... there's this one offrec fancomic I like where Luka gets flustered because Hyuna approached him and then immediately deflating when he finds out she just wanted an autograph 😭 cute

random headcanon:

Hyuna has accidentally seriously fucked people over with her voice mimicry talent. At one point she was begged to stop doing it because she kept freaking people out.

Okay, this one is a bit long and kind of less an opinion and more of a story, but I will admit that at first I really did not like All-In. LISTEN TO ME OKAY SAVE THE GUILLOTINE FOR LATER.

I fell off of Alien Stage after ROUND 5. I saw ROUND 1 and ROUND 2 and while I found them interesting, I didn't really think about them that much. ROUND 5 was the only one that caught my attention enough for me to come back to the video maybe 4 or 5 times after my first watch, even searching about Alien Stage on social media and stuff. Still, I wasn't too invested yet.

When I saw All-In freshly released on my Youtube page I was like "oh hey it's this thing again. there's a new one? okay" and out of curiosity I watched it.

I don't know what it was, but something about All-In just did not click with me at first 😭 I remember feeling as though it sounded kind of dissonant? Like something was a bit off with the instrumental, maybe it sounded a little low in volume or something. The rhythm of the song threw me off a little and I could not for the life of me explain why. This is purely personal by the way, I'm no professional music analyst or anything, it just seemed weird to me personally at first.

But that's the thing. Because I found it so strangely off, I kept coming back to the video (it helped that the visuals were absolutely banging). Everytime it showed up on my homepage I would just sit there and watch it entranced like a zombie and I couldn't even explain why. At one point I woke up at 1AM, opened my phone, and watched All-In completely unmoving expressionless unblinking in the dark of my room, then shut the phone off and immediately knocked out again. Once again I cannot explain this. That video had me in an absolute chokehold no joke. Eventually I started to understand it more and it really grew on me, to the point where I played it in the shower on loop and then proceeded to start the rest of my days with the damn thing. I began to get curious about the deeper aspects of Alien Stage, took the plunge, and now we're here.

Anyways, that's the story of how my opinion on All-In went from "this sounds kinda off" to "this is the best thing to ever be created by human hands". All-In is now one of my most favorite ALNST songs and Hyuna absolutely killed it in her debut video. Sorry I couldn't understand the true extent of your genius back then queen, but at least I do now.

Favorite thing about him - His confidence and competency. My favorite fight (besides Donghai obv) is the fight in the pear trees at the Zijin/Wanmian wedding. Does he need a sword to fight 7 other armed people that aren't holding back? No, bcuz he's a badass and he knows it.

Least favorite thing about him - How long it took him to kill Jiao Liqiao. I know bcuz plot reasons it couldn't happen earlier but also he locked her up bcuz he doesn't kill women, and then she got out.

Favorite line - I can't choose a favorite bcuz it would probably be the entirety of ep 38, however I think the "It's just interesting to see you pining over a woman" is one of the most underrated. It's the implications.

Random headcanon - Sometimes I imagine that he had a sister.

Unpopular opinion - Hmm, this is the hardest part to answer. I don't know if it's necessarily unpopular, but I think my view of his ten years of seclusion is more extreme than most people. I think there was a period of time (months to years) where he actively refused to heal and/or get stronger.

Obviously he was heavily wounded after Donghai, and that takes time to heal and recover and do the wuxia equivalent of physical therapy. But having been told Li Xiangyi is dead and coming to terms with never being able to fight him again (he thought of him every day), it may have taken him a while to find motivation to get past a plateau in his recovery.

Song I associate with him - SO MANY. But top 3 are I'll Be Good by Jaymes Young, Sand by Dove Cameron, and Fighter by The Score.

A BROTP I have with said character: Morgott/Godrick... The guy needs some people in his life that understand him and do not immediately judge him merely for existing lmao! Him and Mohg could also be buddies if Mohg wasn't always tucked away in his underground castle haha.

A NOTP I have with said character: I don't think I have any strong opinions on other Godrick ships? So I wouldn't necessarily dislike him with any haha. I'm open to most things!

A random headcanon: Gosh I had so many Godrick headcanons and they've all sort of watered down with time! I quite like the idea that Gostoc was his son. I know that this could technically be considered semi-canon, but as the dialogue was deleted it's very much possible this was changed along the way. But man... There is so much room here for angst and spite. Especially with the fact that freaking Godrick out of all people would disown his own son! I also quite like the idea that he'd be good at playing an instrument. Possibly a violin... Perhaps even multiple. This guy has so many limps, it would be a shame if he didn't use it for multitasking haha!

General Opinion over said character: He's so underrated what the hell! Like man, I love Godrick and just like the Gods in-game, half of the fandom doesn't even seem to notice him! :'D The fact this guy literally grafted so many different body-parts onto himself to try and appear more like a God is sick. Especially since by doing so, he was only seen more and more as an abomination. Guy clearly has some self-esteem issues haha.

Light tickles are most effective on Bill, they get him giggling & sputtering so fast! Ted is much more weak to a rougher touch

Ted is the resident office tickle monster & Bill is one of, if not his favorite targets. He will sneak up behind him no matter what he’s doing & tickle him. & Bill surprisingly doesn’t mind it! He knows Ted is an obnoxious older brother & being annoying is just how he shows his love. It honestly makes him feel kinda special, but he knows better than to let Ted know that

4. How did they discover each others’ ticklishness?

Like I said, Ted is a lil shit & goes around the office poking or squeezing at people’s sides. He tasered Bill while he was at his desk & he screeched so loud! Ted was laughing & teased him about it for a while. He gave Bill a hard time after that & Paul told him one day he “shouldn’t just let him get away with this” & Bill decided to use Ted’s own tactics against him. Ted was so shocked & honestly a lil excited

Ted is the #1 instigator ok? He knows all the right buttons to push to piss someone off. If a tickle fight breaks out, 9 times outta 10 it’s his fault

It was pathetic. She was 17, nearly an adult—she should be better than this.

Surprisingly, though, it was Cisco who caught on first. Cisco who moved to Jesse's side when she started panicking, Cisco who warned Barry not to use his speed around Jesse...Cisco who made her a blanket fort when they both couldn't sleep.

(It was only those nights when she slept peacefully, curled up next to him in the fort.)

She'd never had a brother, but she could almost imagine this was what it felt like, even if she didn't know Cisco well enough to say for sure.

Except...it didn't make sense. It didn't...these people barely knew her. Surely they were just...just being nice to stay on Dad's good side, right? Or they wanted something from her. Yeah, that had to be it.

What it was, though, she couldn't fathom—Cisco only spoke to give her comfort, or to tease her about something unrelated, and he never asked anything of her. And even Dad seemed surprised at how well they were getting along.

But Jesse didn't like owing people. So one day, she finally asked, "Okay, what do you want?"

Cisco looked over at her, startled. "I mean...I'd like to fluff this pillow, but—"

"You know what I mean. What do you want from me?"

Cisco frowned. "A...good night's sleep would be ni—"

"Cisco!"

"Jesse!"

"Ugh!" She threw her hands up in the air. "I don't get you! Why are you being so...so nice to me, so accommodating? You don't even know me, not really!"

"Do I have to know someone to care about them?" Cisco retorted.

"Why do you care about me?"

"Because you're important to me, you little shit!" Cisco sighed, running a hand through his hair. "To all of us, really. I'm just...the best person to understand what you went through."

She scoffed. "Oh, were you kidnapped by an evil speedster for months too?"

"No. I was just killed by one."

She froze, her heart skipping a beat. "I...what?"

"Barry saved me." He smiled sadly. "He always does that. But...because of my powers...I remember it, clear as day. My trusted mentor, calling me his son...and then tearing a hand through my heart."

"Cisco...I'm so—"

"Don't apologize. You asked."

"If I'd known—"

"You didn't."

"But if I had—"

"You didn't, Jess. Let it go." He sighed. "If you get lost in the if-onlys, you'll never get out. Trust me. I only barely manage it most days."

They sat in silence for a few moments, pillow forgotten...and lost for anything else to do, Jesse slowly reached over and hugged him.

Cisco hugged back, with a fierceness rivaled only by Dad's hugs, and it wasn't long before both of them were crying—full on sobbing—all while clinging to each other for dear life.

Jesse didn't have a brother. But she'd guess this was what it felt like...and she couldn't imagine a better feeling.

Ship: Tbh I don’t really have any Izzy ships. Maybe it’d be in a QPR with Eva? I like the idea of Izzy being one of the only people who consistently supports Eva and Eva developing feelings for them because of that

BROTP: Izzy and Noah are actually such a funny duo. Also Izzy and Lindsay & Izzy and Leshawna are underrated

NOTP: Idk what it is but I don’t really like Owizzy (Izzowen? Idfk what they’re called) as partners. Idk it feels like Owen loves her a lot more than she loves him, and that her attraction to him is mostly physical or even mischievous, and while I usually love toxic pairings Owen is such a nice character that I just want a good healthy relationship for him and I feel like he could never find that with Izzy. Also they just didn’t have much chemistry imo, the only scenes I remember with them are them making out or Izzy accidentally hurting him

Random Headcanon: He went to circus camp over one summer and knows a bunch of clown tricks. She gets into clown cars, can do contortion and acrobatics, knows how to juggle, the whole deal

General Opinion: Izzy’s a fun character and I definitely appreciate their antics but she’s also not very interesting to me in the way characters like Alejandro or Heather are. Also I can appreciate the Izzy Isn’t Crazy theory, I finally watched it last week while I was sick, but at the end of the day it feels kind of cynical so I don’t consider it canon. But also I might like Izzy more if I rewatched a season that it’s in because tbh I haven’t rewatched the gen one seasons in a very long time

Send Me a Character: TFA Bulkead!

First impression

Getting into the show, I didn't have much to say about him. All I knew was that he was Bill Fagerbakke. Yes, he is voiced by Patrick Star.

Impression now

Oh Bulkhead, why are you so underrated? Seriously, he's one of my favorite Autobots alongside Ratchet and Bumblebee, and yet despite this, he's the most underappreciated.

And how can you not appreciate him? He's a gentle giant (which is always my favorite character archetype), he loves art, he cares for his friend, he's smarter than he looks, and while he may be kind, he isn't a pushover.

Overall, Bulkhead is underrated and I love him!

Favorite moment

Although Headmaster cemented my love for him, my favorite moment has to be him tricking and defeating Soundwave in "Sound and Fury." Plus I do love the little Sari and Bulkhead brotp moments.

Idea for a story

I would kill for a solo fic focusing on him. I had one where he met my OCs where they befriend each other and eventually fall in love.

Or a fic where he meets Potemkin from Guilty Gear and become art buddies.

Unpopular opinion

Honestly, I don't hear Patrick's voice when I hear him talking. There are some cases here in there, but other than that, when I hear him speaking I don't think of Patrick. I think it helps that Patrick's voice became more exaggerated in the later seasons of Spongebob so it made his voice more distinguishable.

But another thing, where are people getting this idea that Bulkhead is dumb? I know I vented about this in this post, but tldr version, he is not an idiot as he is knowledgeable in space bridges and art, and some episodes in season one contradict this.

Favorite relationship

I have a soft spot for his friendship with Sari. I'm a hardcore Bumblebee and Sari friendship truther, but him and Sari's friendship is deeply underrated.

I also like his friendship with Prowl as well.

Favorite headcanon

While his main art medium is paintings, he dabbles in sculptures from time to time.

For the character ship game: Trevor or Simon - mainline or LoS for either of them, whatever you prefer

I'm more comfortable with mainline :P

Trevor/Sypha: 10/10. The OG battle couple! Trevor's whip and Sypha's magic are so cool together. There is also something wholesome in how Sypha is hiding her true self in fear, but Trevor is so kind and friendly that at the end of the adventure she feels comfortable in trusting him with her secret :)

Trevor/Alucard: 9/10. I really like them as a brOTP :3 again, Trevor is the friend of all time and doesn't see Alucard as Dracula's son, but as a dear companion. I love that scene in GoS where the two fall all over themselves showering each other with praise <3

Trevor/Grant: 8/10. they're besties in crime. They're having the time of their life together. Another great if underrated brOTP.

Trevor/Hector: 9/10. You know the drill, Trevor has too much fun whipping the pretty boy and there is an interesting defrosting ice king arc going on here :P I like to imagine Trevor teasing Hector because his efforts to keep his composure are too amusing, but also because the poor man just needs a friend already.

Trevor/Isaac: here

Trevor/Dracula: 7/10. And so... they were both doms 😏 Aside from the jokes of Trevor attempting to subdue Dracula with his slutty boots, I got nothing about this one lol

mhhh I'm not sure of how many ships with Simon there are?

Simon/Selena: 10/10. Honestly I've only seen @simonsquest shipping them. It's his thing lol. I cannot divorce them from his fic and art, and man does he do a great job at portraying them as the sweetest, gentlest couple :3 oh you know Simon would be the most loving wifeguy <3

Simon/Dracula: 6/10. Yeah, it exist. Unless one imagines Dracula as being uniquely impressed by Simon's brutality, I don't really see the appeal.

BONUS: Simon/Isaac: 7/10. It only exists in one fic that I found, but the idea that Simon would look at Isaac and go "he's a redhead in BDSM getup just like me fr fr <3" is too hysterical not to share hdjhfdjkshfkdsj but eh, other than that, doesn't do anything Isaavor doesn't do already.
