While I'm working on this silly comic, I would like to shoutout websites like 360cities, which provide phenomenal references for things like the inside of the cathedral of Notre Dame, and the many sites with high quality photos of the choir reliefs in Chartes Cathedral. You're the real MVPs

Obviously October is my first love (🖤🎃🦇🔥🌛💜) but I think this might be my second favourite time of year. Wild garlic pesto season. Seedlings sprouting. Birds soaring in the high summer sky. A new wildflower in bloom every time I turn my head. The swifts and swallows are returning from Africa. I heard the cuckoo call. I want to eat all my meals outside. I want to sit out on my front steps. I want to throw a barbecue I want to swim in a lake I want to drink cans in the graveyard i want to go on a hike. I want to go on a HIKE that's insane!!!

what's appalachia? i'm not american
appalachia is an american geographic and cultural region in and around the appalachian mountains on the east coast! The region has a very distinct culture because of how isolated it was from the rest of the country for a very long time (both because it’s very rural and because the region’s been exploited and kept in poverty for centuries by the logging and coal mining industries) and there are a lot of different cultures that make up the broader appalachian one. Like appalachian music is one of the biggest influences from there and it’s a fusion of african-american blues traditions, english folk songs, and scotch-irish fiddle.
A lot of things that people think of when they think of “American culture” (log cabins, banjo/country/folk music, evangelism, rednecks, moonshine, etc) came out of appalachia. It gets negatively stereotyped a lot most of which comes out of classism because of the whole generational poverty thing but it is a beautiful and complicated place. i went to college in the foothills which was a very cool place to be. look at my mountains aren’t they beautiful

i recently finished reading The Eye of the World by Robert Jiordan, and it makes how bad the Wheel of Time series was even more shocking.
you have lore custom built to give your costume department the license to go buck wild, and instead, everyone is dressed like an extra from Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. there's a handful of interesting pieces (most of which i'd put money on were borrowed from locals at the assorted eastern european locales where the show was shot) but it's mostly bad acrylic/polyester/spandex fantasy clothes from an Amazon warehouse, with the occasional bottom layer made of natural fiber. everyone should be dressing like the meiji era meets a renaissance festival and instead you get... this
and don't get me wrong, Rosamund Pike could serve cunt wearing a trash bag. but still. i also don't want to talk about the disgraceful face smoothing that occurs. the director is a coward who fears milfs.
to rub salt in the wound, almost every creature you see is bad tv cgi, something i am so used to i almost wouldn't bother bringing it up. except apparently there WERE several creature actors and practical effects people working to create the monsters, only for them to be replaced digitally in the vast majority of the shots.
look at these guys!!! they worked so hard and for what??
