An attempt of a timeline for Demon Slayer
Hi, hello, I am on a brainrot and for the sake of OC creation I decided to put a year and age to as much as I can in Demon Slayer.
What we know?
Demon Slayer takes place in the Taishō Era which goes from 1912 to 1926
But there are two things in the world building that can allow us to determine when the anime takes place in and from there develop a timeline of what happens when.
Beware, this will have spoilers for the late part of the timeline!
The presence of Moga
What are Moga? "The Modern girl" was a movement that occured in Japan during the Taisho Era where young women embraced the western style as a form of liberation from the traditional, men driven ideologies in Japan in search for financial and emotional independence.
We can see a couple examples of what might be Moga when Tanjiro arrives to Tokyo!
Muzan's own wife seems to follow Moga fashion even!
But we can't be sure if that's due to her own choice or Muzan trying to push his wish for Modernity on her, you know that demon denies staying in the past so probably would ask his wife to Mordernize herself as well -Even though between women her age and social status back then, wearing traditional japanese kimonos was the "Normal". Men were the ones who normally to show wealth wore western fashion-
The term of "Moga" was actually not adopted until 1923, but the movement could be tracked to the publishing of magazines as The Housewife's Friend, which was founded in 1917.
So if we follow these mere hints, we could say that Demon Slayer takes place between 1917 - 1923.
But there is something else that could give us THE EXACT YEAR of when the story takes place!
The Yoshiwara District and its destruction
The flashiest arc of the story takes places in The Enterteinment District of Yoshiwara, one of the 3 three licensed and well-known red-light districts in Japan alongside Shimabara and Shinmachi.
Knowing that this is Yoshiwara gives us an excellent reference of what year the story could take place in, and while personally I am not sure if Gotōge did it intentionally or not -Probably it was- The destruction of Yoshiwara in the battle against Gyutaro and Daki could have been easily been hidden by the Demon Slayer Corps by one catastrophe that happened in Japan during that time: The 1923 Great Kanto earthquake
The district of Yoshiwara was destroyed to point of near-obliteration after this catastrophe in Japan. And while a great tragedy, it could give the best smoke curtain to such big battle as the one against the Sixth Upper Moon was, as we know- The Enterteinment District got pretty roughed up during that battle, thanks Gyutaro.
SO! With this, I can say that the year in which the main story of Demon Slayer might take place in is 1923!
So with that settled! We can go into the timeline!
Meiji Era (1896 - 1912)
1898: Jigoro Kuwajima (35) retires from being the Rumble Hashira due to an injury
1904: Suicide of Kagaya Ubuyashiki's father, Kagaya (4) raises as the new Oyakata-Sama
1909: Death of Kagaya (9) 's younger brothers: Senri (8) and Akito (6), and of their mother, by a house fire provoked by Senri.
1911: Ruka Rengoku dies. Leaving Kyojuro (8) and Senjuro (2) without their mother, Shinjuro Rengoku, the current Flame Hashira, starts spiralling into a heavy depression.
Taishō Era (1912-1926)
1914: Kaigaku (11-12) lets a demon into the orphanage run by Gyomei Himejima (18), all the orphans die with the exception of one who frames Gyomei as the killer. Kagaya (14) saves Himejima from execution.
1915: Giyu Tomioka (13) succeeds in his Final Selection.
1916: Gyomei Himejima (20) becomes the Stone Hashira.
Tengen Uzui (16) joins the Demon Slayer Corps.
1918: Giyu Tomioka (16) becomes the Water Hashira. Tengen Uzui is already the Sound Hashira and Kanae Kocho is already the Flower Hashira.
Sanemi Shinazugawa (16) becomes the Wind Hashira
1919: Kanae Kocho (17), dies fighting the Upper Moon 2: Douma.
1921: Shinobu Kocho (16) becomes the Insect Hashira.
The Kamado family is slaughtered by Muzan, Nezuko (12) is the only survivor and turned into a demon. Tanjiro (13) tries to get his sister to a doctor, and on the way are attacked, and spared, by the Water Hashira, Giyu Tomioka (19)
Kyōjurō Rengoku (18) becomes the Flame Hashira.
1922: Obanai Iguro (20) becomes the Serpent Hashira
Muichirō Tokito (13) becomes the Mist Hashira.
Mitsuri Kanrōji (18) becomes the Love Hashira
1923: Giyū Tomioka (21), Shinobu Kōchō (18), Kyōjurō Rengoku (20), Mitsuri Kanrōji (19), Obanai Iguro (21), Sanemi Shinazugawa (21), Gyōmei Himejima (27), Tengen Uzui (23) and Muichirō Tokito (14) are the current generation of Hashiras under the leadership of Kagaya Ubuyashiki (23)
Tanjiro Kamado (15), Inosuke Hashibira (15), Kanao Tsuyuri (16), Genya Shinazugawa (16) and Zenitsu Agatsuma (16) succeed on their Final Selection. The main story of Demon Slayer starts.
1924: Muzan Kibutsuji is defeated and the demons are destroyed once and for all.
And I might have skipped some stuff, or I might even have some stuff wrong but I think this is rather solid? Anyway, you are welcome to take this as guide or just think I'm delulu! After all I'm just a fan with brainrot doing this for the sake of roleplay and OC making lmao

The handmade art made with love
The most vibrant of colours and beautifully made products by hand found in rajasthan had caught my eyes during the summer of this year. The use of these colours has been here for ages and now have come to fashion industry once again with a new enhanced trendy look.
Rajasthan is known for its textile industry and how this art has been passed down to generations from decades. I decided to take the handloom from here as it has the most unique way of handling fabric with different methods which are the most authentic handicraft skill in this age.
Its very fascinating of how the artisans here have a sharp eye for fine details with incredible precision of how to mould a simple fabric to a beautiful product.
There are different kind of handloom arts present in this state of India.
The use of tie-dye has been used here for a long time and is the most worn type of pattern here. BANDHANI is one of the type in which a cloth is decored by plucking it with fingernails in different shapes and forms giving it a figurative design. It comes in sarees , dupattas, dress materials which after worn enhances the look of the dress. the colours of these dresses are mostly contrast.
There are emotions behind every form of art piece, every design in a bandhani cloth shows one's feeelings at that moment, like red represents a bride ,for yellow represents maternity.
Every design is made with pure form of love and respect for the technique which has been used for over 5000 years now.
LEHERIYA is also a very well known design in rajasthan which is inspired fron the word 'waves' that is the wave type layers which are seen on the sand in the dessert areas. the zig-zag patterns or irregular stripes or waves holds one captivated in its unique look and appear visually fluid. This type of design typically went trendy due to it giving a very mordern look.
These lovely patterns are made with resist-dyeing technique with certain where certain parts of the fabric maintain the original form where the others arrest the hues applied.
These traditional methods maintain the heritage styles of dyeing and are also sustaible or eco-friendly.
Handblock print is one of the most commonly worn prints in jodhpur rajasthan. It is made by carving diffrent motifs on a piece of a wood which is then painted and pasted on a cloth in a particular way .
It usually has intricate yet sober designs which gives the particular cloth a richer look and is also something can can be worn casually for outings or even festive fuctions.
Block prints shirts , kurtis are casual wear for the people living here and is one of the best classic outfits.
Shisha work famous in both Rajasthan and Gujarat, usually worn during festive season and weddings. It is made by sewing small pieces of mirror to a piece of cloth in different type of patterns. The mirror pieces are cut into different shapes depending on what design one wants to create.
It is also used in different decorative items like pillow cases, carpets, small sofa covers and so on, this type of work is famous all over India and is also found in some other countries to.
These material dresses need a lot of care as they could get ruined easily, but the look they serve after worn by one is just priceless!
JUTTI , they have been a part of Indian culture for decades and have still evolved to abetter version of itself according to the changes happenning over the years.
They are either pointed near the toe or are curved or are m shaped, these jutti's are made in such a way that the colour combinations of any jutti are easily paired with any type of ethnic or indo-western clothing.
Usually jutti's come in two to three types of materials, most common are leather, rexine, taiwanese sheet ,where. the leather jutti's are the most preffered one's from my experience as they last longer compared to the others materials, the only backlog you could face with a artificial leather jutti is that the odour at the start of its use is a little irritable.
THESE ARE SOME OF THE CREATIVE AND BEAUTIFUL HANDLOOMS FOUND IN RAJASTHAN , AND I SAY THAT EXPLORING THESE WAS VERY FUN AND INTERESTING!

[Image description: Three images. Image 1: Amn old-fashioned sailing ship on the water. To the side is a person in a red jacket on a mordern sailboat.
Image 2: The same shipin the distance, viewed from a modern sailboat
Image 3: A person on the ship looking at a modern sailboat on the water. End description.]
[Plain text: We repeatedly emphasized that we were aboard a small 8-meter sailboat, but the response was the same each time: "We are a 50-meter three-masted sailboat, and we offer our assistance in towing you to Paimpol." We were perplexed by the size difference between our two boats, as we feared being towed by a boat that was too large and at too fast a speed that could damage our boat.
The arrival of the Götheborg on the scene was rapid and surprising, as we did not expect to see a merchant ship from the East India Company of the XVIII century. This moment was very strange, and we wondered if we were dreaming. Where were we? What time period was it? The Götheborg approached very close to us to throw the line and pass a large rope. The mooring went well, and our destinies were linked for very long hours, during which we shared the same radio frequency to communicate with each other.
The crew of the Götheborg showed great professionalism and kindness towards us. They adapted their speed to the size of our boat and the weather conditions. We felt accompanied by very professional sailors. Every hour, the officer on duty of the Götheborg called us to ensure everything was going well.
[...] This adventure, very real, was an incredible experience for us. We were extremely lucky to cross paths with the Götheborg by chance and especially to meet such a caring crew. Dear commander and crew of the Götheborg, your kindness, and generosity have shown that your ship is much more than just a boat. It embodies the noblest values of the sea, and we are honored to have had the chance to cross your path and benefit from your help. End plain text]
@a-captions-blog
I need everyone to know that the ship Götheborg, the world's largest ocean-going wooden sailing ship, answered a distress call the other day.
Imagine waiting for the coast guard or whatever to show up and instead a replica of 18th century merchant ship pulls up and tows you to the coast.

Bojack horseman
Bojack horseman is terrifying, it's frightening, it kind of seeps into that middle zone where fiction meets reality, that at a point you would be stunned by how realistic the whole thing is I got stunned by how artistic the whole show was, it is very traumatizing and powerful, many a times it reaches that height of artistic supremacy And the aspect that it's a tragicomedy is amazing, A show about depression shown without compromising the comedy coefficient, so in that way it does not fall into the 13 reasons why category I've watched many shows and movies about washed up actors, but every show/ movie shows emphasis and gives importance to the story without/or with slightly touching the actor's psyche, this is where bojack is different - it just concentrates the psyche of a washed up horse actor who was once famous, but not now, and the plot is not much tended to, this serves as a big advantage. And this was shown in the "highest artistic fashion" as Bergman if he'd been alive now would have described it The characters were written brilliantly, there were many masterstrokes brought throughout the course of the show and many experimental stuff too, all of which worked stunning!! I would love to say all of those, but that would mean spoiling the experience for you It is a intrinsic and concise view into depression, the whole show travels through depression, no one could've defined depression better, it's just a raw and stunning portrayal of depression, The unique portrait it sketches that of depression is truly so unique that it frightens the hell out of you. It is definitely a piece to remember and watch out for, When things come to a wrap in the fifth season, The "Hope" element completely dominates the "depression element" and many episodes were very emotionally powerfull It also works as a powerful satire, and the sarcastic jokes in some episodes were particularly wonderfully written, It also a criticises the mordern times without being preachy - like it criticises everything with a pinch sarcasm/humor, so in that way it neither makes it preachy nor serious I'll never forget this show, in last episode I just wondered how the lines of mr. blue said it all... (ps: watch the show) In conclusion it is a stunning and powerful piece of work, that will be remembered for decades to come!!

Cassandra hadn't talked a lot as they made their way inside the castle but she'd been busy looking around and appreciating the sight. Gasping and admiring shields, heralds and tapestries that decorated the castle. Only the best for King Arthur, after all
Once seated, she couldn't help being suddenly self-conscious. Cass didn't often show a lot of skin and by mordern standards she wasn't but compared to the women they had passed in the castle? She wore a skirt that was knee length with leggings underneath, a bright knit cardigan over an simple blouse with super cute collar detail she has almost died over. Sensible shoes for roaming a magical library completed the look. It was a great outfit only it certainly wasn't Camelot fashion and that was clear. Tristan had been polite but the serving boy's eyes had gone wide at the sight of her.
Tristan's questions were a welcome distraction even if they posed their own problems. Quickly Cassandra opted to go for the easiest option again. The truth, or most of the truth.
"The Library is an important place not just for books. We are there to protect and store magical artifacts. The sort of things that in, say, Merlin's hands could potentially do good but if you give a clueless person access to magic, bad things happen. It's our job to help people out and fix those messes too." She told him all this in a slightly hushed voice, making it clear that she was confiding a great thing in him even if they did currently have the room to themselves.
"And I told you all that so that you might believe me when I say that I don't know why I'm here. I think an artifact is involved because one moment I was in the Library and the next I was meeting you." She smiled brightly as she continued. It was not how she'd planned her day but how could she be too annoyed about being in Camelot?
@adsagsona
mythandmagicmuses:
“Oh, right. Breathing.” Cassandra did her best to stifle the giggle the threatened to rising up in her. Her cheeks flushed a little but she didn’t let embarrassment ruin the moment. She was in Camelot, she was allowed to be excited about it. How many people could say they’d been to King Arthur’s court? But Tristan had a point too, breathing was good too. “Food would be nice, thank you.” She nodded, smiling appreciatively as she inhaled the campfire scent. In some ways her condition was rather nice, after all knowing this chivalrous knight had a voice that smelled like a welcoming hearth was delightful. Knowing that he was also Tristan of ‘Tristan and Isolde’ fame was a lot too. She didn’t know the story well but knew it was a tragic love story. Had he already known that pain? It wasn’t something she could just ask though.
As she walked with Tristan, following his lead toward the castle, she looped back to the topic of Jenkins. “Jenkins is, was a cover name. Galahad is pretty unique, right? He’s helped us at the library in some dire straights. He’s quite the impressive swordsman, isn’t he?” Everything Cassandra said was true though wit parts edited out that might suggest that the library was in the future and the Galahad she knew was not a young man like Tristan.
@adsagsona
Tristan was curious about the young woman, she was strange to say the least. He wondered how she knew Galahad, he had never mentioned her. Not that he had to, they had travels, the lot of the knights. Perhaps it had been on one of his journeys and Cassandra had found him again. He would need to give her a good welcome ,for Galahad’s sake.
“Then you shall have food.” Tristan answered with a gentle smile as he gestured for her to follow him, but he stayed walking beside him. Stepping through one of the main doors, he directed her towards a dining area. There were more in the castle of course, but he would not sit her with servants. “It is quite early in the day so I might need to do a run to the kitchens, but I’m sure I’ll be able to find something for you.”
He invited her to sit down at one of the low benches at what was otherwise an almost empty large room. Main meals were eaten here and the fires were always burning. “Boy, fetch us some ale, would you?” He asked one of the kitchen boys who ran off. “Is there a reason to your visit, lady Cassandra? Since you didn’t appear to know where you were just now?”
