*giggling*
The 141, with help of Nik and a couple friends, are tracking an Anarchist group in the UK. There's been some evidence that they plan on doing something big (and possibly dumb) and that they've gotten their hands on some big weapons.
Theyre just scouting out the base of operations of these guys, just gathering intel.
Price points out one particular guy: big, beefy blonde guy with a thick Scottish accent and very punk grunge aesthetic.
"Must be the ringleader" the captain says and it seems to be true. Everyone watches this guy with curiosity when Soap gasps lightly
"No fucking way" Soap says
"What?"
"He's my fucking ex" Soap replies, shocked and a bit embarrassed in all honesty.
Now I'm just picturing all of them turning to give Soap A Look
Gaz just shakes his head and goes "you have incredibly questionable taste in men"
To which Nik asks Ghost "not offended?"
Ghost: "I've learned the truth hurts sometimes."

I find the fact that the confrontation at the end of UTRH is often summarized as Jason asking Bruce to kill the Joker for him fascinating.
Because that's not what happened.
Jason holds a gun up to Joker's head, gives Bruce another, and tells him that if Bruce doesn't do something (shoot Jason), he will kill Joker.
Jason doesn't give the gun to Bruce so that he would shoot Joker. He isn't expecting Bruce to pull the trigger on the clown. He's asking Bruce to do nothing. To be inactive. Because that will still be a choice, and despite having done nothing, everybody clearly agrees that Bruce would still, at least in part, be responsible for Joker's death.
...And to me, this moment is a kind of- microcosm, of the rest of Jason's point. Because after being captured and carted off to Arkham, the villain will escape again, and will kill more people. The only way to truly prevent that from happening would be to kill them; Bruce refuses to do so, and I respect his right to choose such a thing for himself, but it is still a choice, and if we agree that Bruce's inaction during the confrontation would leave him at least partly responsible for the Joker's death, then we must also agree that his inaction in permanently preventing the Rogues from killing more people means he is also, partly, responsible for all of those deaths.

Tim who isn’t actually a very ‘good’ person.
He’s not a bigot or against minorities, nor does he do anything to violate someone’s right or beliefs, but he can just be… a prick?
Like he isn’t a victim of Damian most of the time because he’s antagonistic towards a literally child, assassin or not. He’s not a total dick, but he doesn’t really show much empathy towards Damian for a while and with his hatred of the League I wouldn’t be surprised if part of that was prejudice against Damian. (Especially if it’s one of the universe where Taliah drugged Bruce, he could maybe even blame Damian for that subconsciously.)
He’s also a womaniser, given he’s one who respects woman’s right and works to support them (unless it’s 1990 Tim, which is a whole other can of worms.) He has partners coming in and out and sure part of that is commitment issues and having to lie to partners about either identity, but often it just seems like he’s having fun and nothing else. If he explains this to his partner at the time, good for them, but it doesn’t really seem like that at times.
He’d also bordering on the line between cocky in a self assured way and cocky in an overconfident asshole way. He’s smart, not get me wrong, but there are people smarter than him and while he could out smart some big names, sometimes he bites off more than he can chew.
Same goes with his own contingency plans, I get the feeling he makes just… a few too many. I get why he does, what I think is a bit off about this is how he seemingly doesn’t see anything wrong at all with making plans to terminate his friends and seems to be lacking remorse for it even if he wouldn’t want to actively do it.
Tim’s loose morals are a bit different as there are many heroes and instances in which I’m like, yeah fair enough I wouldn’t save that guy either. Plus, the reason he became Robin was because Bruce was harming innocent people, not Two Face or Riddler.
He’s far more the comic made trope of a ‘Billionaire Playboy Philanthropist’ than Brucie had ever really been.
He’s actually a bit arrogant and actually acts like a playboy, not as a persona but for real. Even Tony Stark has been portrayed to be playing up his character where I feel like Tim doesn’t as much.
He’s genuinely a sneaky little shit, arrogant and cocky and too smart for his own good.
Man’s body count is double digits and neither of those numbers are under 5, and that’s not even the amount of people he’s blown up.

#my art#Yes this is meant to parallel the Reiju piece and I will be drawing Yonji and Niji next.#those are judge's hands in case it wasn't clear but hopefully the hair does that?#Anyways to chatter about this a little#I just like that the trio are trapped within bodies that are forced to comply to Judge and have no desire to do otherwise#No mind to think. No will to break. No voice to cry suffering.#but it also raises the question what will happen to them when he dies and Ichiji becomes King (presumably)#they've been so sculpted to follow his every word how far can they make it without an outside force commanding them.#could they have been “saved” if they had Sora's exterior voice commanding them to do good? But to what extent does that qualify as good#since it's arguable if they would ever be truly choosing it for themselves#Anyways the Vinsmokes are NOT okay and I hope that gets explored more#I love characters whose moral code begins and ends with “It is my purpose” so I don't like to think they're inherently bad entities#I like to think they're inherently hollow vessels filled with intentions of another person#because that opens a far more interesting conversation about selfhood and accountability.#Very fond of fanfictions where they don't need to gain emotions to learn error#Also fond of fanfictions where Ichiji kisses men. If you've made it this far maybe recommend me one.#I have more cohesive thoughts on this but it's almost midnight ask me if you want to know more I promise I'm usually very articulate#if I'm missing something I haven't actually gotten to them in the story yet.#one piece#one piece fanart#ichiji vinsmoke#germa 66#vinsmoke ichiji

character dynamic ask game
qs focusing around how two characters interact with & see each other. any kind of matchup (partners, friends, mortal enemies, etc.) is fair game!
rules: send two characters and a question (or more!)
what were A's first impressions of B? were they mostly correct or have they changed?
if asked to describe B to a stranger, what would A say? are they mostly truthful, or is there anything they omit?
what's something A thinks in their head about B that they would NEVER tell them out loud? alternately, what's something they want to say to them but haven't/can't, and why not?
how does A refer to B (first name/last name/pet name/title/etc) in their head, to them directly, and to others? are they different? why?
A has to get B a [birthday/christmas/whatever] gift. right now. what would they get? how long would they spend thinking about it?
what does A think B thinks of them? or, if asked to describe their relationship, how would they do it? are they right?
are there any habits, mannerisms, practices etc. A does because of B? anything they do because they saw B doing it, or got advice from them about it, or something rubbed off on them? alternately, are there any little things B does that annoy them?
is there anything they really disagree on? what are they most likely to argue about?
what do outsiders think their relationship is? do they consciously or unconsciously act different around others?
how well does A think they know B? are they correct?
what's something A knows about B that most people don't? alternately, what's something most people believe about B that A doesn't?
if B asked A for help, how likely would they be to give it?
if A needed help, how likely would they be to ask B for it?
for two characters that met very recently, how would their dynamic be different (if at all) if they had known each other for much longer? for characters that are childhood/longtime acquaintances, how would it be different if they met for the first time today?
what's A's absolute favorite (or least favorite) thing about B?
free space: what's your favorite thing about their dynamic, as a fan or as a writer?

I feel like people underestimate Ballister's actions in the movie and dumb him down to be just a guy with sad big eyes when he's literally a metaphor for transphobic gay men who participated in the system based on violence and hate. He's so much more than what fandom makes him out to be and he's quite flawed
Like :/// yes he's cute but let's not infantalize him???

I just wrote the scene where Vox asks Valentino if he's a communist, and honestly, I think it would be hilarious if Val were a communist.
Vox learns about it during their fourth sleepover (I assume they started seeing each other not long after Val's death, when he wasn't bourgeois and still held some of his beliefs). That revelation causes Vox's existential crisis because he can forgive being a rapist, murderer, and queer, but a communist? He vents about it to Alastor because you know how angry some people get when you suggest that maybe ten people shouldn't own all the money? And Alastor, who is of course an anarchist, says something like, "But you said he was stupid!" That sends Vox spiraling because apparently, he's weirdly attracted to men who are red in more than one way.

thinking about how Oda chosing Luffy, a pirate, to be the protagonist of One Piece may be one of the most brilliant story moves by any shonen mangaka ever. by virtue of its main character being an in-world criminal, OP naturally lends itself to becoming a story about the exposure of a society festering with corruption for what it really is, and the dismantling of a dystopia and its propagandist facade. you simply do not get a story like that with a shonen protagonist who conforms to or tolerates the shitty system they're born into

forgive me if this has been said a hundred times, but i can't stop thinking abt the vander, silco & felicia flashback, specifically in relation to silco and vander's relationship
it's established in s1 that a lot of silco's issue with vander is that he doesn't understand why he backed down from the revolution and started playing along with the enforcers. it isn't until jayce asks him to give up jinx that he realises the weight of responsibility for another person's life - a child's life, and of one that he considers his daughter. vander couldn't risk losing vi or powder in the name of zaun, but silco seemingly didn't even consider it a possibility until that confrontation.
and with this added context: vander backing down and striking a deal once he becomes personally responsible for the kids makes perfect sense, because their safety was one of his motivations to work towards zaun's freedom. on the other hand, silco's confusion and frustration with that choice also makes perfect sense, because he doesn't yet understand personally having to make that choice, and since they promised zaun's freedom to felicia for her children, he likely sees the two outcomes as inherently connected. to him, vander didn't just back out of freeing their people, he also backed out of his promise to felicia - an action which she would likely understand, being a mother, but which silco can't rationalise.
i'm not saying he was right to view it that way. i just think this is yet another example of arcane characters being nuanced and having perspectives that make a hell of a lot of sense for who they are.

Hear me out: you can ship JayVik without falling into or using rhetoric that fits the disposable black girlfriend trope. You can ship JayVik without using Mel as some conceived ploy or antagonistic plot device that makes her out of character. You can ship JayVik without falling into misogynistic rhetoric (eg. viewing female characters as disposable or stepping tools, amongst other things). You can ship JayVik without erasing the impact Mel has had on Jayce and their relationship because, whether you shipped it or not or even gave it the time of day, Mel and Jayce did care for each other, and to deny that or say Viktor held more importance/impact than her in Jayce's life to where she's viewed as "unnecessary" just to further your ship is so wrong and, whether you intended for it or not, does carry undertones where black characters, especially black female characters, emotional impact on others is ignored or downplayed even though there's context to support just how important it is/they are. Lastly, you can ship JayVik without using anti-black and misogynoir type rhetoric because the amount that has flooded this fandom, but especially from some fans of this ship, is atrocious. Ship what you like, but be respectful and careful with certain things you say, is all I'm saying.
