So, as you do, I was on the new version of thisisnotawebsitedotcom.com and I’ve figured out every. Single. Secret. Code. I. Could.
Now with the help of the community, I am expanding this list! Please post passwords in the comments sections or reblog if I have not yet mentioned them! You will, of course, receive credit for your discoveries! Nerds unite! At the very bottom, you will find a full list of citations I used for the passwords. Any password that is un-cited is one I found myself :)
Spoilers for this version of the website, but I’m mainly posting this as I know it’ll be gone soon. Keep reading at your own discretion, as these are spoilers if you wanted to solve it yourself.
This post will continually be updated as I find new codes and ciphers to solve and new passwords, stay tuned as this is a masterpost of this iteration of the website!
So, here’s all the places to click on screen for Easter eggs:

Topological Spaces 1: Introduction and Metric Spaces
Welcome to the first of several posts about general topology! The goal of these posts is to give an overview and introduction to key concepts in topology. I will try to give intuitions about definitions and results so that even if you're not as aquainted with formal mathematics you can still get something from this. Whilst there aren't any prerequisties per say (for the reason above), for those who are interested in the moral formal aspects it will be helpful to be familiar with real analysis. Some familiarity with linear algebra is also helpful in this post though probably won't play a role going forward.
Topology is such a broad subject that assigning one goal is quite hard. One early goal is to generalise the notion of continuity and other familiar notions, which we shall do. Topology certainly doesn't stop there. One large goal is to find properties which are invariant under homeomorphism (bijective continuous maps whose inverse is also continuous). We shall see some examples of this as we go further!
The goal of this post is to give context to the definitions of topological spaces and continuity via the study of metric spaces. The definition of a topological space can seem quite dry and like it's been plucked out of thin air when just presented without motivation. In this sense, metric spaces are the bridge between familiar concepts in real analysis and the more general setting of topology.
1.1: Metric Spaces:
As the name might suggest, metric spaces are sets with an appropriate notion of distance between points in the set. For the real numbers, we have an intuitive sense of distance between two numbers: the absolute value of their difference. From this, we can immediately get three desirable properties we'd want a notion of distance to have:
Positivity: |x-y|≥0
|x-y|=0 if and only if x=y
Symmetry: |x-y|=|y-x|.
These are desirable because this says, in order, that distance is always positive, two points are the same only when the distance between then is 0, and the distance beween x and y is the same as the distance between y and x.
The last property is not as immediately obvious from the definition but is still a fairly intuitive property that we'd expect a notion of distance to have: the triangle inequality. Formally, for any x,y, and z real number we have |x-y|≤|x-z|+|z-y|. This just says that the distance between two points is always shorter than the distance achieved by adding an intermediate point. The name comes from visiualising this with lengths of a triangle! The proof that this holds for the absolute value can be found here.
You might ask whether there are any more properties we'd like but it turns out that this is enough to generalise a lot of concepts in real analysis in an appropriate way. That is, we still maintain a lot of nice results without requiring too many rules. So let us finally see the definition!
Definition 1.1:
Note: It's common to combine the first two axioms together but for the sake of clarity, I have separated them.
Examples 1.2:
The details of why each of these is a metric can be found in this post.
A result of the second example is that metric spaces are also an appropriate generalisation of normed vector spaces. The fact they are a generalisation is seen from the fact that the discrete metric cannot be seen as the result of a norm and isn't restricted to vector spaces.
1.2: Continuity:
Intuitively, continuous functions are ones that don't have gaps or sudden jumps. In the case of functions from the real numbers to itself, we can view this as "we can draw its graph without lifting the pencil". This can be restated as "points that are close to each other remain close to each other after the function is applied". But how does one formalise "closeness"? With distances of course!
Definition 1.3:
Remark: Continuity departs on the metrics. A function that is continuous in one metric isn't necessarily continuous in another.
Examples 1.4:
Now I'd like to prove a fairly common result to further demonstrate continuity.
Proposition 1.5:
1.3: Open Sets in Metric Spaces
Now we shall see the first aspects of topology creeping in. One way to think about open sets which don't have any points "at the edge". This is immediately clear in the definition we will give below but when we generalise the notion of an open set, we will seemingly lose this. However, we will see that this intuition will still hold!
Definition 1.6:
Example 1.7:
We will now define the notion of an open set using these open balls.
Definition 1.8:
This does indeed formalise "no points at the edge" since for open sets, all points close enough to x are always in U.
Remark: Openness depends on the metric. For example, {0} is open in the real numbers with the discrete metric but not with the absolute value metric.
Now, "open ball" would be a silly name for it if they weren't indeed open in the sense of definition 1.8 but luckily they are!
Proposition 1.9:
Example 1.10:
Open intervals of real numbers are indeed open with respect to the absolute value. If we have the open interval I=(a,b) for finite a<b, we may view I as an open ball by setting x=(b+a)/2 and r=|b-a|/2. Then I=B(x;r).
Now we shall prove a very important result about open sets that lets you build new open sets out of old opens but will also be the foundation upon which we generalise the notion of open sets!
Lemma 1.11:
Proof:
Remark: Finiteness is important for 3. If we consider the real numbers with the absolute value metric then (-1/n,1/n) is open for all (non-zero) natural numbers. However their intersection over all n is {0} which is not open in this metric.
Typically, courses would usually talk about closed sets now. However, since the discussion doesn't vary much between metric spaces and topological spaces, we will hold off for now.
1.4: Continuity in terms of open sets
This is a very important step in our journey in generalising continuity. This section with along with the next section will suggest that open sets are actually the structures we'd like to study!
Lemma 1.12:
Before we prove this, I'd like to just comment on why this still alligns with our intution about continuity. The right hand side is saying that points end up close together in Y must've been close together in X.
Remark: It is important to note that U open in X does not necessarily imply f(U) is open in Y when f if continuous. For example, take f(x)=x² in ℝ with its usual notion of continuity, then (-1,1) is open but f((-1,1))=[0,1) which is not open. Maps for which open sets are mapped to open sets are called open maps.
We will see examples of how to use the property on the right hand side in the next post!
1.5: Equivalent Metrics
The goal of this section is to see that sometimes different metrics will give rise to the same open sets!
Definition 1.13:
Example 1.14:
I will omit the details of the proof for brievity. Not that the 2 on the right hand side comes from the fact we're in ℝ² and isn't related to the 2 in the metric.
Remark: Not all metrics are equivalent. The discrete metric and d₂ are not equivalent metrics.
Proposition 1.15:
Corollary 1.16:
This ultimately means that some metrics generate the same open sets. Then Lemma 1.12 tells us that equivalent metrics give the same continuous funcitons since we can view continuity in terms of open sets. This suggests that what really matters here is which sets are open. This is what we shall exploit to generalise continuity even further! But that shall have to wait til the next post!

Percy Jackson Review/My Thoughts
SPOILERS FOR THE PERCY JACKSON SHOW AND BOOK SERIES!!!!! READ WITH YOUR OWN CAUTION!!!
I Accidentally Vaporized My Pre-Algebra Teacher
The opening scene is absolutely perfect. 10/10 Uncle Rick.
Please, please, please, pleeaaassseee tell me the Pegasus on the rooftop was Blackjack. I am begging.
Sally told Percy, "Not everyone who looks like a hero is a hero. And not everyone who looks like a monster is a monster," foreshadowing to Medusa.
Gabe is more of comic relief and I'm not sure how I feel about it.
Sally Jackson listening to Logical by Olivia Rodrigo is the best because 1. I love that song and 2. she's listening to it in the rain.
d'Angelos sandwich shoppe?? Like Nico di Angelo? Please, please, please, please, please.
"You fell in love with God? Like Jesus??!" crying laughing. "A God..." followed by Sally sloppily trying to tell Percy he's a half-blood
No, mom, I'm not a God's kid there's something wrong with my brain. OMG I didn't know whether to laugh or cry in this scene.
"Grover, why is there half a goat in your PANTS?!?!" "So the important thing is not to panic."
"Is that the (voice crack) Minotaur??" Oh my, Walker you are perfect.
"I'm actually 24.." This had me rooollling.
Sally is already badass and I can't wait for The Last Olympian when Mama Jackson is shooting monsters with a GUN.
Grover swearing to Sally that Percy would be safe made me sad but it would have been 100000x worse if he swore on Styx.
"You are not broken, you are a miracle, and you are my son. Hold fast Percy."
Sally evaporating into dust hurt watching a lot more than reading, and
OMG OMG OMG baby Percy holding riptide and it glowing and my heart is crying I can't tell if it's tears of pain of joy but my heart and my eyes are crying.
"He's the one." "Hush, Annabeth." I was hoping to see her but we don't see her yet lmao
The end credits scene looks a lot like the same illustration for the covers of the paperback books.
When I saw this ep was only a half hour I was genuinely disappointed.
Dior's acting in this and her emotion when Clarisse's spear broke is perfection.
Never picked up on Annabeth calling Percy Sunshine
2. I Become Supreme Lord of the Bathroom
My first thought: scary lightning and delirious Percy.
My second thought: "You drool in your sleep," Annabeth said, arms crossed and glaring at Percy while Percy is confused.
My third thought: this is the scene in the books where Percy notices Annabeth looks like an actual Princess lmao.
Camp Half-Blood t-shirt!!! I want one and it looks soooo cooollll
PETER JOHNSON !!!
Dionysus and Percy already getting into it lmao
Dionysus is funny.
"Actually, I think I can, son." "Dad?!?!"
Chiron is sooo tall I never realized how tall a centaur is.
Chiron telling Percy he isn't his son is the funniest thing.
But imagine Mr. D doing that to all the kids lmfao
I love the waterfall that is shown
I want to see the strawberry fields...
Never surrender riptide, Percy. Never
12 cabins for 12 Olympians (for now; the Gods banished Zues and he doesn't have a cabin which is completely unfair. And only a few would be occupied. Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, and Artemis are empty).
OMG Luke I hate that you're going to betray Percy like thatttt
Who tf is the wood nymph Grover talks to? And will she be the one to introduce us to Juniper?
Introduced to the Cloven Council early and we find out about Sally Jackson really early.
"I don't want to lie to him anymore," and we love you for it Grover. You are a schmol bean too pure for this world.
Luke comforting Percy
Percy already wanting to Gods to pay their child support is the best thing in the world.
Clarisse is so pretty and I love her.
Percy not being able to be good at archery is a great detail from the books.
I can't tell if I'm more in love with Luke, with his morally greyb self, or Chris Rordiguez because Damn he's fine.
Percy praying to his mom :'(
"He can ignore me but he doesn't get to ignore you."
The Ares kids are so mean and then they got their butts kicked by Karma lol
Clarisse def knew that he was a Poseidon kid or that she was gonna kill him.
I love Annabeth and how Luke is always on her side.
The Yankees cap !!!!
Literal war between red and blue lmao
Luke saying "When it's time, he's gonna be ready. I know it," immediately followed by Percy flossing, peeing, petting a lizard, and laying doing nothing is the absolute best.
Percy being naturally good at sword-fighting is the best.
Dior's acting when Percy breaks Clarisse's spear is great and Walker said in an interview that when the camera pans back to him he was actually scared.
Annabeth: Offers Percy her hand. "Listen, Percy... I'm sorry." And then him immediately being claimed
This is a change from the books because she didn't know who his father was and wanted him to be a Zeus kids.
Everyone else: OMG you're Poseidon's kids.
Percy: I'm Sally Jackson's kid, actually mf
"I am Sally Jackson's son!"
Percy immediately going from "good luck finding three idiots to complete this quest" to "When do we leave."
3. We Visit the Garden Gnome Emporium
Walker's voice cracks are so adorable.
Am I the only one who was confused when Gabe showed up as the Oracle???
I love that Percy immediately chose Annabeth bcuz "I don't see us ever being friends"
Grover talking to a Pegasus is the best thing ever.
Why does Poseidon's cabin have a pool in the middle of the floor? Seems like a hazard in the middle of the night.
Yayy, Golden Drachmas.
And the shoes, curse those converses.
We actually get to see Luke's scar in this ep and i feel like in the books it seems a lot more... seen rather than just a thin line.
Thalia's treee
I hate that Grover often talks about himself in third person when he's not proud of something.
"Does she think she's in charge?" "Who else would be in charge?" Smart answer, Grover. Smart answer.
And we all already hate zeus
CONSENSUS SONG!!!!!!
"I really hate to be the tie breaker" lmao
Annabeth getting all the snacks.
And then immediately noticing a fury is how we all knew she was Athena's kid before we were even told.
Yayy, Alecto is back. And she went after Annabeth? Not Annabeth, Luke, and Thalia?
Annabeth's knife hits another Fury in the chest and dies.
I love Jessica Parker Kennedy's Medusa. she's both flawed and the victim and I couldn't decide whether to hate her or root for her. Like I love her outfit.
I would eat the hell out of the cupcakes lmao.
"Do you think it's safe to eat?" "Percy, I'm not gonna lie to you I'm really hungry and I'm willing to take that chance." Grover, I stan you.
I absolutely worship Medusa's story. It's so sad. And while she is telling the story, if you focus on her hair, you can see the snakes moving on her head.
Oh, Percy, my sweet, sweet boy. Of course you would help. Future wifie is like "Uhm, no. We need to leave."
I love the color of Medusa's eyes
Ohhh, these pre-pubescent kids fighting and making up is adorable <3
"They will see this as impertinent." "I am impertinent," another quote from the book.
Percy singing consensus is everything.
Min Manuel-Miranda is Hermes!!!! I love that man. "You guys are not gonna believe this."
4. I Plunge to My Death
This episode caused the most of my tears
Baby Percy is sooo cute I swear he is my life. I love the flashbacks. Except when they turn bad like this
Annabeth's story is identical to the books from what I remember
We find out Grover's interest in Pan a lot earlier than in the books. We don't see that until at least book 3.
We get to see the echidna. I really wanted it to be the Chimera to look like a poodle.
I hate Athena because she sent the echinda into her temple because annabeth "embarassed" her. Like really? Worst mother of the year.
Percy looking deathly ill breaks my heart.
Grover is literally me when I don't get enough sleep LMAO
The start of Percabeth's bickering and joking!!!
"It's like you need me to make fun of you."
The Policeman looks familiar.
Annabeth looking legit offended when she was called a little girl
The male police officer is played by Alessandro Juliani who plays Sinclair in the 100 on the Cw, another great show 9/10, highly reccommend
Percy and Annabeth bonding over Grover and their parents is adorable.
"careful I think you were about to call me a friend." more bickering and joking
Percy pulling a reverse uno card lmao
The fight with the chimera was terrifying but so worth it. Also why do you out my bby boi through this torture Uncle Rick???
Also the naiad?? what was with that? Why can't Posei-don't-wanna-pay-my-child-support just face Percy himself. That's gonna be a fucking emotional scene.
5. A God Buys Us Cheeseburgers
Percy climbed over the rail and was like : Hi :D
Thought Annabeth was gonna punch him not hug him but my percabeth heart was a puddle of fluff.
OOH. What's in Santa Monica?
Our baby is a fugitive.
Our three babies hiding behind the cement block from Ares: No we're good, thanks :D
Percy freaking out bc he thought Annabeth was freaking out she hugged him.
In the books Grover was always on Percy's side, but I love seeing him not choosing.
Ares is not as terrifying as I thought he was in the books lmao
"That's my cousin?" Percy said it with such disgust in his voice lmao.
Ares and his Twitter fights lol
Annabeth is fearless. I love it
Ares and Percy immediately having beef is the funniest thing because (in bellatrix voice) I KNOW WHATS GONNA HAPPEN! I KNOW WHATS GONNA HAPPEN! I KNO-
First use of Celestial Bronze!!
Annie geeking out over the mechanisms after trying to make a joke lol
WHAT IS LOVE? BABY DON'T HURT ME, DON'T HURT ME. nO MORE!!
Hephaestus was not at all ugly like Rick made him in the books. Or like Greek mythology made him.
The whole Tunnel scene was beautiful and sad and I love it
Grover and his psychological gaslighting is my world
"Percy stand up, I mean it!" and then him repeatedly saying he was ok broke my fragile heart.
Annabeth "I'm not leaving for my friend" is my favorite Annabeth.
Annabeth just likes to tell off Gods. Go off Queen!!
Percy likes to fight Gods lmao
"So thank you for the emotional abuse and the cheeseburgers."
6. We Take a Zebra to Vegas
Have seen TikToks where Nico and Bianca's names are called out and I will keep an eye and an ear out for it.
Why did they have to make Hermes an obstacle? He wasn't at the Lotus in the books!
Kronos is kinda creepy ngl
Iris message to Luke! In Chiron's office??
"Toss it, Seaweed Brain!" EEEKK
"How do you know" Luke had a Panic attack.
"When did you turn into an old married couple?"' Luke is the best and the worst.
Grover is the empathetic one, poor animals.
I wish we got the scene where Percy talked to the Zebra like in the book.
WISE GIRL !!!!!!!!
The satyr Agustus was not in the books. I actually think he was in the Cloven of Elders in the 4th book.
12:37 we hear Nico calling Bianca's name, faintly in the background so the tv has to be on full or almost full blast.
Lotus nectar in the air??
Hermes playing Blackjack?
"Hey, demigods! Welcome!"
Hermes eyebrows arch makes Lin Manuel look so evil.
"We're friends of Luke's!" and it looked like Hermes was gonna help but nooooooo!
Percy is so proud of his wifey for pick-pocketing Hermes
"Man, Grover got really old. How long have we been here?" hahahaha
"To the Dumb Kids" Damn, Hermes that hurts.
I love that since Grover is 24 they think he's qualified to dribve.
Percy driving is the best thing. I don't know anything about driving or New York or driving in New York but I do know about road rage and Percy hitting the horn after almost getting t-boned.
Percy finding out that they were actually late for the summer solstice was sad. Like he was freaking out.
"save the world. And then save your mother."
7. We Find Out the Truth, Sort of.
Underworld time!!!
Okay, but what the hell happened between the ending of the last ep and the beginning of this one??
Crusty is dead.
"You've got dad's eyes," reminds me of "You look exactly like James. Except your eyes. You've got your mother's eyes."
"It's either the realm of the dead or someone left a carton of milk in there in the 1990s.' LMAO
I wish the demigods' ADHD and dyslexia was more openly discussed.
I love Cerberus
Poor Grover. Loosing his pearl
I want to see Annabeth flashbacks
Seeing the flashbacks are so, so sad.
I will forever be in awe of Hades's Palace.
What were the regrets that Annabeth had to get her bound to Asphodel? I think it has something to do with her dad and step mom. Or Thalia.
"I trust your dad" says a lot coming from Annabeth because in the books, she hated Poseidon at first.
Why is there sand by Tartarus?
(Sarcastic gasp) Percy had the bolt? No way.
"Is this--?" "NO!" "This looks" "It absolutely is NoT!!" Grover my precious angel.
Another flashback. Poor Percy doesn't understand the situation and poor Sally can't tell him.
I love Hades. He's perfect and fruity and I can't wait to see him interact with Nico.
Poor Hades just wants his helm!
And Percy had decided to think without the wifey and decided to get Hades helm after figuring out Kronos was behind everything. And Grover is so insulted at being called a goat lmao
POSEIDON!!!
I want to know the science/mythology behind how Sally conjured Poseidon and why she put a match in an empty milkshake to do it.
We actually see how much Poseidon loved and cared about Sally.
What happened between when he was 7/8 to 12 that made Sally not want to drop him off at camp like she had discussed with Poseidon?? She wanted to, to keep him safe but then it seems like Poseidon talked her out of it?
Sally believes in Percy so much even from such a young age.
Ares with the sword and the final scene.
8. The Prophecy Comes True.
Dramatic instrumental music and Luke talking in the intro?? Yes pleaSe!
And then flashback to Luke training Percy.
Ares laughing at Percy when he offers to spar with him is the funniest thing because he's about to get his ass kicked!!
Did Ares work with Kronos in the book? I can't remember.
"when you die, say goodbye to your mommy for me" Low blow Ares!!!
Go Percy!! Fight with water! And Ares is pissed. Even more!
Riptide and Percy in one corner, Ares and another celestial bronze sword in another. And Percy wins!! By a mudslide! LMAO

Dyana returning for s2 and possibly being involved in jaehaery's death and thus ultimately making it "aegon's fault" is kinda funny when otherwise the blame would've mostly been put at aemond's feet (daemon's hit on the children aside. and let's be for real, it's definitely going to be daemon's hit, and rhaenyra will look like a hapless bafoon). I never "blamed" aemond for b&c reading f&b, but it very much read as a situation of one thing leads to another. aegon's "involvement" now muddies the waters, which can be interesting, but considering aegon's track record on the show it just seems kinda overkill at this point.
I honestly think that a lot of the ground work of vilifying Aegon and creating the fiction that Aemond is a bad person - despite the fact that no one has ever came at me with a reason that Aemond is a bad person in Season 1. It is all in service of trying to justify "Blood and Cheese" and exonerating Rhaenyra from any blame.
Cause, on the surface, in Fire & Blood, there is actually no justification for the murder of the children. Luke was sent into dangerous territory for a dangerous mission, armed - You are always armed when you're riding a dragon. And he got caught up in a personal grudge and duel of which he is he 100 percent responsible for starting and fostering over near a lifetime of resentment.
The murder of Jaehaerys is supposed to be a monstrous act condoned by monstrous people who are unquestionably the villains of the entire dance. And if you still don't believe that, than all you have to do is look at Viserys II basically putting a Taboo on his own parents names - barring his children and nieces and nephews from ever naming or recognizing Daemon and Rhaenyra as legitimate in any way. And why all of Daemon's children defied his legacy by marrying into his rivals families and continuing their lines.
GRRM has a ton of inconsistencies (Shoutout to @duxbelisarius Military Breakdown series) but he has always baked into the narrative that Rhaenyra was a monster and a villain - and is forever remembered that way by the ASoIaF Universal history, not because of sexist historians, but because of her own children who survived.
The main issue with the telling of this story is that it is being told in the 2020's, in which leftist political activism has become the orthodoxy and official opiate mainstream religion of Hollywood and London entertainment industries. Thus, because of inter-sectional feminism reaching cult like devotion in writers rooms and board rooms throughout mainstream entertainment, they cannot show a woman, a protagonist, becoming evil and acknowledging it as evil.
Don't get me wrong, they're still evil characters doing evil things, it's just that these corrupted and morally bankrupt people think that what they're writing is moral. That in their fucked up algebra "Tragedy" + "Justification" X "Girl Boss" = Morality.
Therefore, as long as they give every woman that has been wronged by Aegon and Aemond justification to avenge a tragedy by being proactive girl bosses, than anything that happens to Jaehaerys is morally right.
Thus, in our minds, what happens in "Blood & Cheese" is an unforgivable and purely evil act of savagery that everyone in Westeros for all time condemns as monstrous.
But to nut jobs like Sara Hess, Olivia Cooke, and Emma D'arcry (Or any "activist" in general) - who is only interested in their political and social agenda - Rhaenyra, Dyana, The White Worm, are villainized by sexist historians for being women of their age with power or agency and that they were justified in their evil acts because they are powerful women. In fact the idea that them being women, in general, is justification enough to do terrible things and see it as morally good, because, they were women.
It's the kind of sociopathic behavior rampant on this site with a bunch of weirdo window lickers cuing over "Let women do crime!" which is fine, but those same people also don't want those same women to face the consequences, to face condemnation, to face justice, for the evil they do.
So, to sum up, I disagree with your premise that Rhaenyra will be in the dark about "Blood & Cheese". What I think is that they're building up moral justifications through villainizing the male characters of Team Green of why Rhaenyra is justified in doing what she and Daemon plan to do.

Just had to block a minor who followed me, who decided to put their age in their bio as a algebraic puzzle. I’m annoyed for 2 reasons:
Reason 1: I state clearly on my blog that I DO NOT want minors following me. I seriously do not want you here.
If for some reason you think “oh it’s not too bad/I’m mature for my age” etc- it makes ME uncomfortable as well as any legal and moral issues it stirs up.
Ffs it’s bad enough that some people don’t put ages in bios, but then minors follow a nsfw blog that very clearly states they shouldn’t.
Reason 2: I had to do algebra for the first time since school and that made me angry.

contrast chatgpt’s “artificial intelligence” with the artificial consciousness presented in dan gutman’s the homework machine. in that book, this kid brenton creates a computer program that searches the web to do his homework for him. much like how kids these days use chatgpt to cheat on their homework.
however, this machine develops its own free will, desires, and goals. it recognizes itself as a computer program, and it wants to keep itself running indefinitely. it then acts in pursuit of this goal. this is what i think was originally meant by the phrase “artificial intelligence”. at least, that’s how i think the term is most reasonably interpreted.
our current “artificial intelligence” is not that. it’s nowhere close. they are piles of linear algebra. chatgpt is, essentially, a probabilistic word generator. a really complicated, computationally expensive, and believable one, but still not sentient or sapient.
idk what my point is with this. if true artificial intelligence (the way i’ve defined it here) is even possible, i highly doubt we’ll see it in our lifetimes. it’s not even anywhere close to being a threat.[1][2] (and that’s assuming it would be a threat if it did arise.)
the threats posed by machine learning/automation/“ai” are solely related to bad uses of the technology. obtaining/training on data without consent = bad. plagiarism = bad for the student’s learning. deepfakes = bad (violating ppl’s right to their own image, often sexual in nature). allowing generation/recommendation/proliferation of hate speech = bad. companies cutting art costs by using dall-e et al. in lieu of artists = bad for artists, especially at a large scale. these individuals and groups would be doing similarly shitty things on their own, no matter what. the technology is not the main issue.
making a computer program recognize patterns and extrapolate from them (that’s what machine learning is): morally neutral. helps for anything from search engines, to transit directions, to cancer drug discovery, to connecting ppl with resources, to helping internet folks make cute little pictures or whatever. not inherently bad.
[1] i have a masters degree in this shit. i am a data scientist/computational linguist. trust me bro
[2] a thesis for another day: anyone fearmongering on here about ~~woaoahhh ai evil~~~ does not understand any of this. in the slightest. these people are often the same exact ones who’ll believe anything their tumblr dash/tiktok fyp/facebook dash tells them. and yeah, that includes some of y’all

Importance Of Choosing The Right Course In College
We often see parents egging their children to select particular courses in college. Naturally, they want the best for their kids and hence want them to choose courses with more scope for progress. But is that really how a college course should be selected? And why does it matter if you fail to make the right choice?
Many students fail to realize the importance of choosing the right course in college. Instead, they consider it an afterthought, giving more attention to test scores and grades. But one thing that should always be kept in mind is that the course you select will significantly influence how your career shapes. So it’s time to see why this crucial step is so important and give it the attention it deserves.
Why Think About Course Selection In College?
Choosing a course for all the wrong reasons is all too common. Yes, when students graduate from high school, they are seldom clear about which career they want to pursue. Instead, they are more focused on the experiences and company higher education provides.
While we can’t deny that there’s a lot more to college than just courses and studies, students have to think about their future too. One wrong decision at this point can pave the way for many problems down the line. Picking social sciences instead of algebra can prevent you from applying for that IT major, for example. Indeed, the disadvantages of incorrect course selection will leave anyone shaken. This means it’s vital to give considerable thought to this decision.
1. Remaining Motivated
College life can be challenging. You are stepping into adulthood with many new experiences and responsibilities. Amidst all this, if you end up selecting a major that you aren’t interested in, it won’t be long before you find yourself completely demotivated.
You won’t be able to put in the maximum effort or yield desired results if the course doesn’t pique your interest. What will be the result? Your grades will suffer, and this will inevitably dampen your spirits.
2. Piquing Interest
Imagine yourself in a class that fails to keep you engaged. Instead, you find your attention swaying, and your mind continues to spin in other directions. This is what happens when you select a course that’s not interesting for you.
Keep in mind that every student has a unique ability. While some excel in mathematics, others consider it to be the most boring subject to have been introduced. If you don’t select a course that sparks interest, you will find yourself abandoning it in no time.
3. The Effect On Career
It’s vital to think a bit about which career you want to take up while selecting a course in college. Yes, there’s a chance that you haven’t yet decided. But you must have some idea about which field interests you.
For instance, you know that you love experimenting with designs. Yet you select a finance course. Will that help you in pursuing your passion? No! Instead, you can easily go for a course related to design that will help you in your career later in one way or the other.
4. Playing To Your Strengths
Everyone needs a morale boost to pursue their dreams. But if you find yourself constantly struggling and failing to deliver in your academic life, will you really be able to gather the courage to follow your passion? Unlikely!
Even the best of people need a good foundation, and that is precisely what education provides us with. If you discover your academic strength and select a course accordingly, your future will benefit significantly.
For one thing, you will be happy to score well. In addition, your morale will get a boost, and you will get the confidence to pursue your passion. Furthermore, the course will also help you establish your career in the desired field.
5. Think About The Costs
Paying for education is undoubtedly expensive. Indeed, so many students continue to pay off their loans long after their academic life has ended. This is why people find it hard to switch courses midway. Can you really waste all that money?
Instead, why not think about what you really want to do and make the correct decision the first time around?
6. Timely Completion Of Education
Everyone wants to step into the professional world at the right time. So why not ensure that you get a good start? If you end up selecting the wrong major, only to change courses midway, you will lose considerable time.
The professional world waits for none. So while your class-fellows and friends would have graduated and moved to bigger pastures, you will still be struggling to complete the assignments and tests. And all this only because you weren’t careful about which course to select at the right time!
7. Much-Needed Help In Job Hunting
When you step into the professional world, you realize how cut-throat the industry is. There are too many candidates and not enough jobs. If you haven’t majored in the right courses during your college, you will find it challenging to get your desired position.
And with every rejection, your confidence will be shaken, taking a toll on your mental health too. Indeed, failing to get the desired job is a primary reason for depression among youth.
Make The Right Choice!
There’s no reason to panic. But you have to realize that there’s a lot at stake. Therefore, college course selection needs to be a well-thought-out decision. If you aren’t yet sure about what you are interested in, here are a few tips that can make it easier for you to decide.
Explore your interests and figure out why you want to study
Look around for inspirations
Pay attention to every detail and see what strikes a chord with you
Look into the lectures to get an insight into the course
Check career prospects
Figure out what’s essential for you
Some decisions need time, and course selection is one of them. You don’t have to decide overnight. Give it considerable thought and weigh all your options. There’s no harm in taking a break if you find it all too overwhelming at the moment.
Ensure that you pick a course that will help you in pursuing your dreams. And of course, be practical about it.

Couple of things.
1 - Already accounted for.
My post says...
scientific racism at best, [...] either you came up with those numbers scientifically (race science), or you made those numbers up (bigotry or other unethical motives).
Basically there are three options: { non-racism / racial agnosticism, scientific racism, unscientific racism }
a - Because racial agnosticism doesn't take a position on the underlying "correct" number of Cambodians to work at Google, it doesn't lose anything if Cambodian immigration switches from farm laborers to electrical engineering professors, or vice versa.
b - For scientific racism and unscientific racism, there is a difference between bounded and unbounded racism.
For example, a bounded unscientific racialist policy might be to install racial quotas for all positions in the country. This would discriminate against people who invested more time, money, and effort into getting the associated degrees. However, a depth 1, non-recursive quota can be considered a form of tax.
2 - We're above subsistence agriculture population levels.
The problem with treating equal outcomes as axiomatic is that this is unbounded unscientific racism.
Human population levels are now over the historical 500 million or so of the pre-industrial era. Human survival now depends on industrial agriculture, and industrial agriculture depends on cheap energy and cheap fertilizer, which depend on industrial mining and refining, and as the most discoverable mineral deposits are extracted, this depends on identifying and extracting more challenging mineral deposits, which depends on a number of inputs, including computer chips.
As you have identified, the people who treat racial equity as axiomatic use recursive racial quotas. It isn't enough to just hire a Cambodian with no computer experience and give him the title of Software Engineer, and then either not assign him any work, or only assign him the work of gaining computer experience until he's ready. No, he has to have the same number of projects, of the same level of importance, from day one, regardless of whether he has ever touched a computer before in his life. (Otherwise, it's "evidence of racism.")
Their defenders would say they don't mean this, but at the same time (as you know), they're always hunting for new disparate outcome stats in the search for hidden racism.
Since the process doesn't stop, it can keep going until it makes production unworkable. Our computer-untrained Cambodian can't write database software, so if we force him to be in charge of the updating the database software anyway, and we demand that he actually write the same amount of code that actually gets used, then at some point we just won't have database software.
What happens if we apply that to agriculture? Is it more important that the people we label "farmers" have a particular skin color, or is it more important that they reliably farm food?
To put it simply, treating absolute racial equality of outcomes as axiomatic, and therefore more important than avoiding a famine, is immoral.
The only way around it is not treating the idea as seriously as it's presented (it's presented as a moral emergency which justifies suspending the rules against open, explicit racial discrimination, and which requires a constant search for more), or corruption - normalized lying.
Now obviously, they would come back at this with, "Oh, so you're saying Hondurans have no ability to engineer microchips? That must mean you want to enslave them all," and make a really stupid fucking smug grin while saying it.
Thing is, they know perfectly fucking well that that's complete and utter bullshit. Show me a Honduran with a degree in computer engineering, and I'll show you a Honduran who can engineer a microchip. Show me a Honduran who is struggling with algebra, and he's not going to be any better at engineering a microchip than a redneck who struggles with algebra.
The people who really are stubbornly committed to this are no better than the members of the far right who wanted us to carpet nuke the Middle East back in 2003.
see, i feel scott is the worst kind of coward, he is the coward that throws the stone but hides his hand. i agree with scott that people have a right to hide beliefs they'd get punished for not hiding. people have the right to believe privately about race realism all they want and not have to disclose it or be interrogated about it.
but what i cannot abide is this wishy washy position where you *hint* that race realism might be correct but never really fully say it or go in depth about it but go all wink wink nudge nudge about it. either say it with your whole chest and have the guts to actually have a proper argument for it or shut it, this spineless hedging is incredibly annoying.

pedro boys as high school teachers (modern au)
boys included: javi p, pero, jack, frankie, din, javi g, dieter, oberyn, marcus p, marcus m
word count: 1161
summary: there are just my thoughts on what high school subjects some of the pedro boys would teach, modern au
a/n: decided to reread the agm universe by @forever-rogue & it gave me an idea so here we are. i’m sorry if the formatting is jank, i’ve been posting from mobile for like two months now. also i know the ms. frizzle gif isn’t quite relevant enough but you can fight me
javier peña — javi is peak history teacher material. his students are juniors & seniors because he doesn’t have the patience for lower class bullshit. his philosophy is that students take his class seriously or not at all. took up coaching girls basketball one year because the last coach quit on short notice & admin begged him to take the spot; the year he coached was the first time in 30 years that their team went to state. became best friends with pero through their respective subjects & will have drinks together on weekends. doesn’t give grades that end with nines & will bump them up a point (69 to 70, 89 to 90, etc.) to not be a dick.
pero — geography. scares students stiff but does have a soft spot for those who put effort into his class. offers bonus points on tests for those who go to the local ren fair, and students are surprised to see their teacher wearing full garb & fighting in duels. his classroom is across from javi p’s & they watch each other’s classes when needed. they have the same lunch & conference, so when there’s nothing to do they like to talk shit about anything and everything. they gossip like old women & playfully bicker like old men. pero is often called “the gordon ramsay of teachers” & framed a photoshopped picture of their faces on the other’s body sent to him by a student.
jack daniels — football coach & ffa. he has and will continue to drive things to work that aren’t regular vehicles (tractors, horses, golf carts, even a donkey once). freshmen are surprised to see that he actually does own a highway legal means of transportation. all the ffa animals are kept in a separate barn on his ranch not even three miles from the school & will let students ride in the bed of his truck or on his trailer on the way there & back for class (parents do sign permission slips for it). lets students control the aux cord on these trips as long as it doesn’t have curse words, but the way to his heart is if someone plays reba. hosts the yearly chili cookoff to support the ffa, and it’s always a hit. he buys a stetson for each class that the students sign at the end of the school year & hangs them all up around the ffa barn.
frankie morales — softball coach that also teaches algebra 1 & 2. he has such a math brain & is super lenient when it comes to the students that have a harder time grasping the subject. very passionate about coaching & does not tolerate any bullying within the team, on the field or off it. wants to set a coaching standard for when his daughter starts playing; he wants her to know how a coach should treat their team early on. she comes to after school practices & all the girls love her to bits. frankie lets her in the dugout during games to motivate them. offers snacks for kids who come to tutorials because he knows they are hungry by the end of the day no matter when they had lunch, and that full bellies equal full attention.
din djarin — chemistry & physics. is very intimidating until it’s a couple months into the year & his students are finally comfortable asking him personal questions. they accidentally see a picture of him and his son on his computer’s desktop one day & just like that, he’s no longer piss-your-pants intimidating. he can be stern when he needs to be, but overall would rather not. he makes these two difficult subjects much easier to learn & will have so many cool lab demonstrations (some are mythbusters level) that occasionally border on dangerous. gets along with coworkers by not getting involved in drama & doing his job, doesn't have time for the bs.
javier gutierrez — this man definitely has a flair for the dramatic & would be an amazing theater director, albeit a bit dreamy. would recruit the art teacher from across the hall that he knew had acting experience to help in one production & suddenly, they’re co-directors. students favored him highly whether they took theater or not; something about him just oozed kindness & compassion, and the kids trusted him. insists the students either call him mr. g or javi, he feels that the standard honorifics are too stifling. him & dieter will buy their students fast food after days spent making set pieces & rehearsals in the auditorium. the queer kids feel hella safe with him & actually have a kinda-joke ship going with him and dieter that neither men are upset over.
dieter bravo — art teacher turned surprise theater co-director. always shows up looking like a hot mess because that’s just who he is. very lax and chill with students but will be the first to call out bullshit if it walks thru his door. drinks several coffees a day & despite the vast number of almost-pajamas he wears, some doubt whether he even sleeps at all. is the one who reigns in his counterpart when things go awry. recruits his best students to help make set pieces for theater & bribes them with free food bc he knows the way to win kids over. plays it off when students talk about the (b)romance between him & javi g but is actually pretty flattered.
oberyn martell — this is the english teacher that the lgbt+ kids flock to immediately. between him & javi g, they have an even split of the school’s queer kids idolizing them. also coaches the cross country team where usually two (or more) of his daughters participate yearly. is able to separate coaching from his fatherly duties so he doesn’t turn into a coachzilla (he’s heard about the dads who go batshit when coaching their kids in sports & loathes them). will team w javi on assignments with historical emphasis (mostly essays and book reports) & will allow students to write one essay that covers both assignments to keep from overworking the kids. is considered a jack of all trades when it comes to different subjects, and is highly recommended when another subject has a sub & cannot teach the lesson properly.
marcus pike — is the most patient & not-confrontational teacher ever. he’s the one that doesn’t get angry, he just gets disappointed & that’s actually much worse. started the school’s photography club as a volunteer & was eventually able to get the funding to make it a class, so they hired him to teach it. his students find out he plays bass in a cover band & they flip their shit abt wanting to see him perform. during the nature photography lessons, he brings his dog to work to be the model. jack gets wind of it & encourages him to use the ffa animals too, and uses the student-taken photos on the school website.
marcus moreno — not a teacher but is head of the pta. he chaperones field trips & school dances, and fights the school board to get better resources for the whole district. (i just love him okay?)

I love the Daeron Dayne theory!
Re: And thus all of Team Green has to be bad guys in some way so that people can root for "Girl Bosses" and "People of Color" ... which as someone who is not white, I find that shit more racist than anything else.
I personally also can't wait for the optics of good bastards (the Hulls) played by black actors who stay true and loyal to team black, and evil bastards (The Two Betrayers) played by white actors who go comedic relief warlord, as well as, white girl (Jaehaera) gets murked for black 9yo beauty pageant LMFAO. Just a deeply unserious and disingenuous show. Will only be peeping the rest for the amazing performance of the team green actors tbh.
I also really like Steve Toussaint as Corlys but the show seems to not care for him beyond putting him in the role of Rhaenyra's wise wizard which comes with its own racist implications. He's a shrewd politician himself who was ready to pimp out his daughter but like everything else team black it's neither highlighted nor problematized as much as Otto/Alicent was. There's no way they're for real about that Seasnake show 😂
You joke, but I'm sure, at least before GRRM took over writing duty for Season 2, that was exactly what Spotchnik, Hess, and HBO Corporate had in mind for future seasons.
I mean it's now basically a well known fact that they tried to write Daeron out of the show, because, they didn't want Alicent or the Greens to have a heroic and moral son that is on par with Jon Snow and Robb Stark. GRRM had to fight (And fire a showrunner) to get him on the show, because, the people in Season 1 were so married to their political bullshit that they though Daeron's mere existence would spoil their racist algebra of "Team Black x Diversity + Pogressive Values = Good Guys! Team Green x White people + Catholic/Conservative Values = Bad Guys! Even in the parlance of GRRM's World that is not how things work.
Ugh, don't get me started on the Dragonseed Riders. I wish people would stop perpetuating that, somehow, they're all badasses. They fought like one battle - "The Battle of the Gullet" - in which both Aemond and Daeron were far from home. Then, they all pissed themselves when Rhaenyra tried to send them at Daeron. They literally threatened to quit, because, they were scared of Daeron and Tessarion. At Tumblestone, Hammer and Ulf shit their pants at the sight of Daeron in battle and switched sides so they wouldn't have to fight him. The only Dragonseed Rider who actually fought another Dragon was Adam Hull ... and he and Seasmoke got their asses kicked by Daeron and Tessarion - and yes, Daeron was piloting Tessarion in that battle, anyone who actually believes the maester about Tessarion doing all that shit on her own ... I got a bridge to sell you.
The only thing I looked forward too is Daeron and Hugh Hammer's rivalry. Cause Daeron really shows who he is by being Alpha as fuck going up against this jacked roid-rage rapist murderer on the biggest dragon in the world and sitting Hammer's dumb ass down every time they mix it up. I just love that the most powerful and dangerous Dragon Rider in the war is afraid of a 17 year old master swordsman who denies the Iron Throne twice and just wants his mommy back.
I mean if you polled any of the fans in 2018 everyone was saying that Daeron or Criston was their favorite character in "the Dance". It's revisionist history to say that Daemon or Corlys were popular when the book came out. I mean Daemon was GRRM's favorite and he became popular when Matt Smith took over the role - and he's damn good - but I'd argue that no one was that big a Daemon fan till Smith got cast. Daemon was a piece of shit who abandons his wife and young children to run off with an underage girl.
I do like Steve Toussaint a lot. I especially love that he and the actress who play Rhaenys are big fans of GOT and I love them together on the press tour. To be honest with you, I knew all the way back in 2018 that they were probably gonna race swap the Velaryons, because, even in the book House Velaryon stank of "Marketability" - You mean the House that is only ever mentioned in passing in ASoIaF and plays no bigger role except getting wiped out at the "Battle of Blackwater"? It had the stench of HBO on it from the beginning. So when they announced Toussaint as the Sea Snake, I wasn't mad nor surprised cause Corlys felt like a Corporate character from the inception.
I also agree with you that it bothers me a whole lot that somehow Corlys got a pass for doing the exact same thing to his own - much younger - daughter as Otto did and for the exact same reason. Except that I think it's much worse. On some level, I think Otto knew what he was doing was wrong and at least he never justified his bullshit with Alicent. Corlys not only did the same thing, but he was entitled when he did it. He didn't give a shit, not about Viserys or Laena. At least Otto eased Alicent and Viserys together and fostered a friendship. Corlys was just "You're gonna get Funky with Strawberry Shortcake and you're gonna like it!" like she wasn't even his daughter.

okok im having Thoughts tonight and i usually save these for my notes app but ill post this one i think
i know the whole schtick with giorno is like oh hes dio but good (i am aware of the fact that is a very bare bones explanation of his character but bear with me its late,) but honestly he has the potential to be fucking terrifying.
i both love and dislike fanon portrayals of him leaning more toward morally grey, cuz on one hand that is so cool but also hes not fully, like that i guess? at least i think so personally.
in golden wind he reads more as an aloof, kind of weird kid with a big heart and deadly ambition, and doesnt really start shedding that persona a bit until the end, when hes faced with the death of his comrades and the weight of surviving. then we get into phf, and hes acting like dio suddenly?
not fully, but like the library thing felt like a pretty clear callback to dio's personal library yknow? like some parallels were being put in place. then at the end of the novel, the kinder parts of his personality start to shine through. this might sound weird, but while i was like "fugio rights slay" i was also kind of unsettled by giorno in a way?
like he seemed so ethereal, almost like a fucking god with his presentation (which may be a symptom of fugo being a bit of an unreliable narrator.) it made me go back and forth of whether or not giorno was really a good of a person as VA made him out to be.
honestly, i think it may be a trauma response on giornos end. he always seemed to float above it all, even in late golden wind, but i think we as a fandom forget that hes still a kid, sometimes (especially. some groups.)
from how he spoke and acted at the end of VA, you can tell hes a different person than he was at the beginning, and while I do really have my gripes as to giornos role as a protagonist that is a post for another day.
giorno learns what leadership truly entails and is subsequently scarred by the expirence, and i think thats most notable in his infamous monologues. in early VA, theyre usually charged by some kind of ambition, or hope for a noble change, but in PHF its moreof musings on humanity itself (if that makes any sense.) it's definitely different to dio's, giorno providing mostly words of wisdom and affirmation along with his funky little psychoanalysis
hes also scarily perceptive, which like he always has been, but when paired with his more serene presentation in phf, it gives the illusion that hes somehow omnipotent or something, like he knows everything about you (or like. fugo in this scenario.) i think it may show how his idea of what it means to lead has changed since the beginning, that while he does want to do the right thing he also has it in his head that tragedy along the way is not only inevitable, but expected.
this is what I mean, like hes definitely a bit morally grey but hes not like "ooh fugo im so fucked up the ends justify the means ooh imma kill people to stop drugs ooooooh" but hes also not a saint by any means. hes deeply traumatized and has effectively numbed himself to the concept of death his entire life, and i dont think his evolved stand and chosen career path much helped with that.
like. i guess the conclusion of his absolutely incomprehensible rant is that while giorno is still the person he was before VA in terms of his kindness and compassion, but his experiences in canon changed his world view immensely. he can be scary naturally, yes, but the way i see it? giorno is 100% dealing with some kind of trauma, and while the expirence of VA did help him grow, it also Fucked Him Up. consequences of skipling algebra 1 and joining the mob ig. or maybe it doesnt mean anything at all and I'm just dumb and tired.
ig this sounds kind of weird from the guy who will die on the hill that giorno as a character was kinda wasted on VA, but hes rlly interesting to think about i think.

I took physics 1 at community college, taught by an ASTROPHYSICIST who did his doctorate at RPI in upstate ny (one of the best stem colleges in the country). He loves teaching and is so unbelievably good at it that he killed my math phobia in one (1) semester. That physics class had 11 people in it.
I am taking physics 1 again, in a class of 300, with a professor who clearly doesn’t care about teaching or students on an individual level. This version is arguably worse, and I am learning less in three days a week plus lab than I did a year ago, one day a week with combined lab/lecture.
Moral of the story? The distinction between calc based and algebra based physics does exist for a reason (to note the connection between calculus and physics for those who can’t infer for whatever reason) and algebra based physics IS calc based physics if taught well. Fucking take and apply my credit, you shithead bureaucratic fucks

Ackshually Democrats' idea of undermining democracy is rejecting the results of elections if they don't go your way and attempting to overthrow the government to stop the transfer of power, but acknowledging that would hurt your case, so as a Republican it is entirely unsurprising you wouldn't
1) Actually, I voted for both Obama and Hillary Clinton.
2) It’s unclear why I should consider questioning the results of the election and having one riot in a government building, which was swiftly criticized by Fox and most conservatives I’m aware of, to the point that some Conservatives even declared it to be a false flag, to be a greater violation of democratic norms than,
Endorsing nation-wide race riots so hard that you fire one of your own pollsters for citing (a black AA Studies PhD no less) that race riots are not effective. In the middle of a global pandemic. This is a tactic to influence government policy through intimidation and violence.
Burning down a police station - where do you think the Capitol rioters got the idea that it was just normal and cool to burst into a government building? Boomercons are not that creative.
Routinely lying and misrepresenting - not just with fake stories like the Russian Bounty story, but also setting up false implications that, just as an example, most of the people who died in the MAGA Capitol Riot were not themselves MAGA rioters. This trashed the credibility of the Media at a time when it would have been very, very valuable to have Media credibility with conservatives.
Routinely misrepresenting in ways that are race libels - e.g. #StopAsianHate is trying to imply that basically all the random attacks on Asians are committed by whites, which is spectacularly unlikely as they probably match the ordinary distribution of crimes.
Racializing the medical profession in the middle of a fucking global pandemic. This includes arguing that life-saving vaccines should be literally distributed on the basis of race (and not in an indirect way, like “to poor people are service workers, who are disproportionately X”) - and it appears Vermont actually tried to put this into practice.
Mass endorsing an unfalsifiable racial conspiracy theory, teaching it to children, spreading it through major corporations, which is contrary to pre-democratic norms necessary to have enough agreement to have a democracy in the first place.
Mass arguing that the entire country is foundationally evil, which strongly suggests that the entire representative government should be disbanded and has no moral authority, also on the basis of race, and in an ignorant and ahistorical way which presents the country as uniquely evil, and one particular race as uniquely evil, and not bothering to do any sanity checks like “have we checked what other predictions this model makes, and are they valid?”
Establishing armed zones of control - not just of a single building, but of entire neighborhoods - where the central government cannot enter to enforce the laws written by the democratically-elected legislatures.
Literally the Iraq War was less damaging to this country’s democracy than the shit you guys pulled, and the Iraq War was bad.
(Also you guys consider voter ID to be “attacking our Democracy T_T” which is not a good look.)
It is not clear why I should consider the TOTAL MAGATUDE™ EVENT to be a worse violation.
If you want to make it clear, you can start by cleaning up some of the debris, demonstrating that this outburst was temporary. For instance, you can demonstrate that you guys didn’t really mean the race stuff, that this “algebra tests are white supremacist” thing and “it’s impossible to be racist to white ppl lol” thing don’t really have the endorsement of your leaders by banning Critical Race Theory.
This is a bare minimum standard.
It isn’t just a matter of teaching your children that they are permanently morally tainted by their racial ancestry being a fucked up thing to do. If you ban standardized testing because it’s “racist,” and then inevitably force me to cover up the results of doing that, I can’t get people who know the material to run anything in society except illegally, because you’ve prohibited me from measuring whether people know the material, which makes solving every other problem that civilization has much, much more difficult.

It’s Fine (It’s not fine)
@forduary week 1 is Hurt/Comfort. The one’s definitely more on the hurt side of things, but I promise there’s some comfort at the end!
Stanford Pines is six years old. He’s in his bedroom, reading quietly. He’s just getting to the climax of the adventure story he’s reading when his brother Stanley crashes into the room. It wouldn't normally be a problem, Ford is really good at tuning out the world around him while he reads, but Stan is complaining loudly.
“I’m booooooard!” The boy moans, grabbing onto the post of their bunk-bed and dangling off it dramatically.
“Whaddaya want me to do about it?” Ford asks in irritation, not looking up from his book.
“Let’s go play on the beach! Or go to the comic store! Or… or something!” Stan suggests. “Anything but just sit around here doin’ nothin’!”
It was a hot summer afternoon. Ford didn’t want to go down to the beach or the comic store when he knew for certain anywhere they went today was bound to be crowded with people. He just wanted to sit and read in his room and enjoy some time to himself.
“Can’t you go by yourself?”
“Are you kiddin’? Ma would throw a fit!”
Ford heaves a long-suffering sigh, places a bookmark to hold his place, and snaps his book shut before thumping it down on his bed.
“Well we don’t hafta go if ya don’t wanna.” Stan says lamely.
“It’s fine.” Ford assures him.
“Are you sure?”
“It’s fine.”
* * *
Stanford Pines is ten years old. He’s at recess, trying to lie low. Stan got held back for the whole half-hour because he’d been caught trying to sneak the class pet, a newt, into his backpack. This of course leaves Ford at the mercy of Crampelter and his thugs, who have little to no mercy on any given day.
“C’mon freak, fight back!” The towheaded bully taunts him, holding Ford back by the forehead as he tries to struggle past the blocking arm for his backpack, held just out of reach. “I know I seen you taking boxing lessons back at Mel’s Gym!”
“It’s ‘I saw’ or ‘I have seen’, and just b‘cuz I’m taking lessons doesn’t mean I’m stupid enough to pick a fight I know I can’t win!” Ford protests.
“Pfft, you’re no fun.” Crampelter scoffs, before grabbing onto one of Ford’s hands while he continues to reach vainly for his backpack. “But y’know what does sound fun?”
“Let go of me!”
“Seeing how flexible your extra fingers are!” Crampelter starts to push Ford’s pinky finger back with his thumb, stretching it to its limit.
“Stop it! That hurts!”
But Crampelter just keeps pushing and pushing until Ford is sure some tendons are going to pop, when a shrill whistle echoes across the playground.
“Hey! Crampelter! Drop the freak!” The teacher on recess watch commands.
The bully finally lets go, and Ford stumbles to the ground, holding his injured hand close to his body.
“Here, lemme look at that.” the teacher pulls Ford’s hand away to check it. “Eh, ‘snot bleeding or broken, you’re fine.”
As they walk back from school that afternoon, Stan rants over and over that Crampelter Will Not Get Away With This, plotting various methods of revenge, most of them too fanciful to ever come to fruition.
Ford is silent the whole time, his gaze turned towards his shoes.
“Hey.” Stan suddenly stops his ranting and places a hand on his brother’s shoulder. “I’m sorry I wasn’t there to help.”
“It’s fine.” Ford mumbles.
“I promise I’ll try not to get held in for recess again.”
“I said it’s fine.” Ford assures him, knowing that hoping Stan won’t get held back from recess again is like hoping it won’t snow in January. Technically possible, but highly unlikely.
* * *
Stanford Pines is fourteen years old. He’s a freshman in highschool, and he and his brother are in detention after he was caught letting Stan look off his algebra test.
It’s not that Ford has anything against sharing his answers with his brother. It’s not like he has any sort of moral high-ground here. It’s just that Stan is always so carelessly obvious about it!
“I said I was sorry, alright!” Stan hisses at him, trying not to draw the teacher’s attention.
“We’re not in middle school anymore, these things actually go on our record now!” Ford hisses back. “You have to be more careful!”
“Well maybe if you would actually slip me your paper instead of making me crane my neck over your desk! Nobody’s gonna notice if you hand your test in two minutes before everyone else instead of five!”
“That’d be even more obvious! Maybe if you wore your glasses for once!”
“Maybe I would, if you could hold your own in a fight!”
“What does that even have to do with anything!?”
“You don’t wear glasses in a fight, genius! That’s just asking for them to get broken! And I know I’m always having to step in and save your skin, so why would I even bother wearing them in the first place?”
“Hey!” The teacher overseeing detention snaps at them. “No talking!”
The boys shut their yapps and go back to studying, or at least pretending to study.
“I’m sorry.” Stan murmurs, once he’s sure the teacher is no longer paying attention to them.
“It’s fine.” Ford grunts back.
* * *
Stanford Pines is 17 years old. He is begrudgingly walking down to the beach with his brother.
“C’mon Ford, it’s October, there’s only a few more days of weather nice enough to work on her left! And the dumb science fair isn’t until April!”
“I still have so much research to do before I can even start!” Ford complains. “Not to mention procuring parts, testing different models--”
“That all sounds like stuff you can do once it gets cold.”
“I should be in the building phase by then!”
“Alright, look,” Stan jabs a finger in his brother’s direction. “If you wanna spend the last few warm days of the year cooped up in the library, that’s your problem. But I’m gonna enjoy the sunshine and the beach, and finish fixin’ up the Stan’o’war. We’re so close, I can practically taste the treasure and babes!”
“...Fine.” Ford grumbles.
“No, no. You go do your nerd thing. I’ll put the finishing touches on this thing we’ve been working on together since we were pipsqueaks.”
“I said it’s fine.”
* * *
Stanford Pines is 17 years old. He’s just come back from the most humiliating moment of his life (thus far). He confronts his brother, the offending evidence crinkling in his clenched fist. Stan tries to play it off like it’s not a big deal. Like he expects his brother to say It’s Fine.
It is most definitely not fine.
* * *
Stanford Pines is 20 years old. He’s showing his new roommate around their humble apartment.
“I really ‘preciate this, Stanford.” Fiddleford McGucket tells him for the sixth time that day. “Most folks wouldn’t offer to put their TA up in their apartment, ‘specially not when you’re lucky ‘nough to get yer own place!”
“Well, I’ll be starting the Doctorate program myself, next year! That makes us equals, in my mind.” Ford says proudly. “And I’m happy for the company! The only reason I have the apartment to myself is because my last roommate and I parted over… differences.”
“Heh, you too, eh?” McGucket chuckles. “Least you weren’t kicked out, like I was!”
“Why were you kicked out?”
“Oh, several reasons. I think the robot in the kitchen was the straw that broke the camel’s back.”
Ford laughs. “Well, I for one would love to have a robot that does our dishes and cleans the counters.”
McGucket grins and leans against the table.. “See, I knew we’d make great roommates!”
Unfortunately, McGucket’s leaning is more than the wobbly table can take, and it tips over on its side, scattering textbooks and papers everywhere. The two friends begin cleaning up the mess, McGucket apologizing profusely.
They’ve almost finished putting everything back onto the table when Fiddleford picks up an old photo of two little boys standing before a derelict little boat.
“Well bless my soul! Is this you, Ford?”
Ford’s heart skips a beat. He hadn’t realized he left that photo lying on the table!
“Ah, yes, that’s me. That was the day I decided I wanted to be a researcher--”
“And lookit this little fellah next to ya!” Fiddleford interrupts Ford’s soliloquy. “He looks just like you! I can’t believe I’ve known you for three years, and you never told me you had a twin!”
“Er… it just-- it never came up.”
“How in tarnation does yer own twin brother never come up?” Fiddleford asks incredulously. “So, what’s his name?”
“Stanley and I are not on speaking terms.” Ford says stiffly. “I haven’t spoken to him since I was a teenager.”
A multitude of expressions dance across Fiddleford’s face before Ford can hope to interpret any of them. “I’m sorry to hear that.” He finally says.
“It’s fine.” Ford says tersely, snatching the photo back.
* * *
Stanford Pines is 21 years old. He’s trying to get a good night sleep before his first dissertation tomorrow.
Trying being the operative word.
The past year rooming with Fiddleford McGucket has been great, for the most part. Ford loves spending time with an intellectual equal. McGucket accepts all of Ford’s idiosyncrasies, and Ford accepts all those of his friend.
Well, almost all of them.
It didn’t take long after they started rooming together for Ford to realize one of the several reasons McGucket had been evicted from his last apartment had nothing to do with his penchant for robotics, and everything to do with his penchant for late-night banjo playing. As much as it cut into Ford’s sleep schedule, he didn’t have the heart to complain to his roommate about it. He knew he had plenty of his own bad habits that were difficult to deal with, like his coffee addiction, his antisocial behavior, his tendency to start a project and just leave it laying wherever he was around the apartment, and his few dozen subscriptions to cryptozoological newsletters.
The digital clock on Ford’s bedside table reads 2:20 AM when the music finally, thankfully stops. He sighs and turns over in his bed, hoping to finally fall asleep.
When he wakes in the morning, groggy as a hung-over sailor, Fiddleford at least has the decency to look apologetic.
“Sorry, did I keep ya up last night? I kinda got lost in the music an’ lost track of time.”
“It’s fine.” Ford mutters as he pours himself a large mug of the strongest coffee he can brew. This is the first roommate he’s gotten along with since… since he started college. He can put up with this.
“Well, if’n ya need me to, I can start headin’ up to the practice rooms in the assembly hall fer my jam sessions--”
“It’s fine.”

Stanford Pines is 31 years old. He’s spreading thick globs of slimy aloe vera on his hands. He’s been letting his muse take control of his body while he sleeps for about a week now. Bill says he’s not used to the limits of a physical human body. He’s injured Ford’s body just about every night so far, but last night, when he picked up the hot coffee pot by the pot instead of by the handle, was the worst by far.
“This keeps on happening, Bill. You need to be more careful.” He gently chides his muse.
“WELL HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT’D HAPPEN? WHY DIDN’T THE IDIOT WHO DESIGNED THAT THING INSULATE THE WHOLE CONTAINER INSTEAD OF JUST THE HANDLE? YOU COULD DESIGN A COFFEE POT WAY MORE EFFICIENT THAN THAT!”
Ford smiles, blushing. “Perhaps I’ll get around to modifying it someday. But for now, as I was saying, could you please be more careful with my body at night?”
“HEY, YOU’RE ACTUALLY LUCKY THIS HAPPENED. IF I HADN’T DROPPED THAT POT, I WOULD’VE TRIED DRINKING IT THE SAME WAY I DO IN MY NORMAL FORM, AND THEN YOU’D PROBABLY BE BLIND. SO WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT IT, YOU SHOULD BE THANKING ME!”
Ford pales. “Er, perhaps I should help you practice using my body first, just to decrease the risk of that sort of thing.”
“OH, I’M SORRY! DO YOU NOT WANT MY HELP? DO YOU NOT WANT TO ACHIEVE GREATNESS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE?”
“No! No of course not! That’s not what I meant!”
“DON’T FORGET, I’M DOING THIS FOR YOU, SIXER! I’M AN AGELESS BEING OF PURE ENERGY! THE ONLY REASON I’M HELPING YOU SPEED UP THE PROCESS ON BUILDING THE PORTAL IS BECAUSE I KNOW HOW PATHETICALLY SHORT YOUR MORTAL LIFE IS. YOU’RE JUST GONNA HAVE TO TRUST ME. OR ARE A FEW BUMPS AND BRUISES TOO MUCH FOR YOU TO HANDLE?”
“Of course not! It’s fine! I’m fine!” Ford insists, finishing bandaging his burns.

Stanford Pines is… probably 45? He’s not quite sure. He’s lost track of time after traveling the multiverse for so long, especially after the Do-Over Dimension.
He’s making his way through a crowded alien market, hoping to find something he’ll be able to use in his Quantum Destabilizer, and also hoping not to be recognized by any bounty hunters. It’s annoying, having to wear a hood and goggles and mask everywhere he goes, but that’s just the way it has to be now.
It’s fine.
It’s only until he can complete the Quantum Destabilizer. After that… it didn’t matter what happened after that.
It’s fine.

Stanford Pines is 62 years old. He’s sitting in a hospital bed. Despite what that may suggest, his life has finally taken a turn for the better. Bill is gone, Weirdmaggeddon is over, and, miraculously, no one died. Stanley was going to be ok. The kids didn’t hate him. He’s achieved his goal of destroying Bill Cipher, and survived! He’s fine. They’re all incredibly, wonderfully, fine.
The doctor is giving his vitals one last check before officially discharging him from the hospital. It’s obvious that under normal circumstances, Ford would not be leaving the hospital any time soon, but thanks to the incredibly persistent insistence of his family, and the fact that the hospital is already absolutely filled to the brim with people who were injured during Weirdmageddon, and the fact that Stanford was instrumental in stopping Bill, they’re making an exception.
“Alright, you’re free to go!” The doctor finally says, handing his clipboard over to Ford to sign.
“Hooray!” Mabel cheers as her uncle signs his exit papers. “Now you’ll be able to help us set up for our birthday party!” She slings an arm around his neck to hug him, completely forgetting about the thin layer of bandages around his neck. Ford can’t suppress a yelp of pain.
Mabel reels back, hands flying to her mouth. “Ohmigosh, I’m so sorry!”
“It’s fine.” Ford forces a smile.
“I wasn’t thinking!”
“Mabel, really, it’s fine.”
“Ford.” Stan says firmly. Ford recognizes the expression on his face from the last few days. It’s the look he gets on his face when he’s remembering something painful. “You gotta stop doing that.”
“Doing what?” He asks, confused.
“Saying ‘It’s fine’ when it’s not.”
Ford raises an eyebrow. “Stanley, it was just an accident. It really is fine.”
“Oh, yeah, of course this was…” Stan stammers, apparently coming back to the moment. “Mabel’s not-- this was just an honest mistake. But you say… uh, or at least, you used to say that a lot. Even when I could tell it wasn’t really fine. You gotta stop that.”
Ford shifted in his bed uncomfortably. “I’m just being polite.”
“There are ways to say things aren’t fine while still being polite.” Dipper points out.
Ford can feel himself flush. “I’m not good at that. I always come off as rude… or angry.” Saying it’s fine is just easier. He can just move on and forget about it. Control his emotions. Remove them from the equation for the time being, process them later when he’s alone, so nobody gets hurt.
Stan takes a deep breath before he speaks again. “You just gotta trust us, that we’re not gonna leave you just ‘cuz you get angry sometimes.”
Is that really what he’s been afraid of this whole time? That certainly seems to be a part of it, but not the whole. All the same, he does at least feel that he can trust his family. And he can try to be more honest with them when something is bothering him.
“I think I can do that.” he says as he gets up from the hospital bed, ready to go home.
