I will specifiy that im not a fan of those journals with the cheap ass lining thats too big, but if the cover is nice then i guess i could comprimise

17 for the writing questions!
Talk to me about the minutiae of your current WIP. Tell me about the lore, the history, the detail, the things that won’t make it in the text.
Oh an i had to pull out the ipad keyoad for this. Te thing hat won't make it to the text for Serial Killer Au is that the plot, the vibes, ALL OF IT, is cannibalized from an original novel I have three moleskeins full of notes on. In the original story, they would both be killers, and they met going to kill the same person, because I wanted them to have the strangest meet cute possible They're names were James Dihn and Alice (Floating last name) and i wiLL come back to them bc i love my murderous children. I loved toying with the idea of "They're bad people, and murders, BUT"
also, there was supposed to be human furniture kink in serial killer au but I think puppy play works better so I DO need an au to put that kink in because I find it fascinating and I want to explore the motivations and what a person with that kink would be like.
This has been more than a minute but you opened this rabbit hole and I'm not quiTE DONE. I'm really using this AU, because its set in Columbia Missouri, where I became an adult and met my husband, to explore and highlight places that are SUPER MEANINGFUL to me but may have since closed, so It's set in 2017. that means that I get to make myself a character, which is both vain but a way to pay homage to the original story because my character aS ME will be a diner waitress working on a book, just as I was in 2017.

Hilarious that my leather moleskein notebook has a "return for reward" line on the front page. How dare you ask me to put a dollar figure on my scribbled horny fanfic notes . Fucking presumptuous. If you need a valuation talk to my attorney

Reblog for sample size please! Who else has kept a moleskein in pristine condition since 2017 even though the people who gave it to you expressly wanted you to use it

25.09.18 // I have a four hour break today, and I was scrolling past tumblr, thinking I should really start having a planner to keep me organized with all the quizzez, midterms, assignments and readings — so after my class ended, and I had finished preparing for my next lecture (class participation is a must In that class, so I usually prepare some notes in about 30 minutes — nothing too dense, though!) I went straight to the University stationary shop and bought myself some ‘essentials’
and I started planning.
I then quickly realized how unrealistic my planning was as I have a long day at university tomorrow as well, so theres no way I’d be able to fit all of that.
sigh
and it took me ridiculously long, too.
(to write all that, that is)
Already off to a wrong start, but hey, hopefully I’ll learn as I go!

Generally I feel benignly noncommittal about long-hair!Spock, but I found myself in a very rare mood for it today. :) Done in 40mins, which is a big deal for me haha I'm such a slow sketcher. Everything is in this macaroni color right now!

Hot take: I don’t believe in writer’s block
Not in a “you’re just lazy” way but in a “you have to be comfortable writing things that are dog shit”
You have to accept that you may get to the end of 30,000 words and come away with 3,000 that are worth keeping. Those other 27,000 words weren’t wasted, they were part of the process.
I’m that asshole that loves books on the process of writing, and one I read a decade ago changed the way I write, (though the name has been lost to the erosion of memory, it had a purple cover and was written by a woman,) and she had a spiral-bound black notebook she had to fill with words every month. It didn’t matter what, which stories or even if the words were good, because that wasn’t what it was about. It was the habit that was important.
Like art, and so many other crafts, we ascribe mysticism to writing that it’s undeserving of. There’s no trick to being a writer, in the same way as anyone can hold a brush and put in hours upon months upon years of work. Anyone can be a great writer, but you have to write to do that, and we read great novels and heart breaking poems and feel that everything we write must carry this great weight, but be life-changing.
But it doesn’t. Sometimes you’re just practicing words, seeing how they fit together, testing out ideas and themes. Sometimes that novel series you spent years making notes for and writing scenes for gets to be just three moleskeins tucked away in a file cabinet next to hundreds of other failed projects.
If you think you have writer’s block, go write something bad. Go write something stupid, inane, tell a piece of paper about your day or the woman you saw at the grocery store or every dog you’ve pet this week. Start typing, and never stop, because to quote a dumb internet game show, the only way to begin is by beginning. So begin. Write something stupid, and in my experience, once you’ve told a word document about why galas are your favorite apple, your brain is more than willing to write whatever else you want. And if it’s not?
Write something else dumb. Print it out and tear it up. Each word you write is not precious gospel, and the sooner you become comfortable with that, the better. The sooner you write those 30,000 words, the sooner you find the 3,000 that matter.

Out with the old and in with the new! @evilsupplyco‘s dot grid journals are THE BEST I’ve ever tried (and I’ve tried a lot of dot grid journals). The paper is high quality and none of my markers bleed through, the dot grid is nice and tight and good for writing or sketching, and they’ve got a certain.... je ne sais quoi. Very charming. Very lovable. Very wicked.

I blew a £50 gift card on fancy stationery because I'm a massive nerd :D
Tumblr media
In particular this fancy Moleskein notebook!
Tumblr media
I actually didn't realise how many cool details it had until it arrived!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But the best part by far was this, which was hidden in the back pocket...
Tumblr media
I'm absolutely in love with it. I think the Diagon Alley chapter of Philosopher's Stone is my favourite chapter of the series. I never quite shifted that sense of wonder and jealously at Harry entering this world and getting all of this cool new wizard school uniform and equipment. I think that's the stationary nerd inside me. So this decorative list is VERY well received.
Tumblr media
I think it makes a perfect addition to my Potter collection ^^

A tiny painting of my existential fear. I'm using a tiny moleskein for these recent ones, which has been a little troublesome since I'm used to working larger. Anyway, yes, I'm constantly terrified for the state of out environment.
