Anger is Humanity: An Analysis on Andre Kriegman
Disclaimer: This analysis is limited only to commentary and analysis as a means to reflect and understand the characters and the internal and external factors that affect their decisions and actions, this is true rationality. Just like all of my posts, I am detached from the media I write about and solely focus on the characters to understand their backgrounds and psychology, for others to gain insight. There is no room for me to romanticize anything I write because I am only here to explain in my understanding. Thank you.
Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, and Acceptance.
There are five stages of grief—yet some find themselves perpetually stuck and fixated on the second. It is a never-ending loop due to the fear of experiencing discomfort once the light is found; it is the fear of change, the bargaining of reality, the depression in the recurrence, and the acceptance that misfortune runs in your veins. One is not born with misfortune but rather handed with it.
THE SUPEREGO. A concept based on the Freudian principles of psychoanalysis, which generally develops through the internalization of values and norms given by primary groups (family and society). If members of these groups are either overly strict and abusive or lacking guidance, poor superego is molded. The superego controls the id's basic desires by using the ego, relying on internalized moral ideals. If the superego is underdeveloped, then there is an impairment in moral reasoning and the ability to distinguish what is morally just and unjust. Furthermore, factors such as abusive environments also play a role in hindering normal superego development. Negative consequences are also brought by exposure to violence or alienation.
With this, we view Andre Kriegman in a new light.
His behavior might be the result of an imbalance where his id's destructive desires aren't properly controlled by a strong superego. Freud has also noted various defense mechanisms the ego uses to handle conflicts between the id, superego, and external reality. If Andre's superego isn't functioning well, he might depend on unhealthy defense mechanisms like projection and blaming others for his indecent thoughts or rationalization by justifying his harmful behavior with logical reasoning.
Anger does not come from evil, but it comes from the mistreatment you receive.
It is the pain inflicted on you, the misfortune that leads you to believe that there is no possibility of ever finding the room to grow and move on. The reason why Andre is so fixated on hatred and anger is that it is a defense mechanism born out of the tragic reality that he has been and is hurt. It is the trauma response that begs to cling on you because you fear that in change, more misfortune will arise.
Anger—that is Andre Kriegman. In a world where you have constantly been alienated, you feel less human. You are not perceived, therefore, you do not exist. You are stripped away from whatever humanity you have, because to be a human, you must exist. You are a mere entity, an omnipresent being that is everywhere yet nowhere, all at once. Forced to watch a crowd interact, fearing and knowing you are so easy to be disregarded. You try to imitate them when interacting to be deemed more human, yet alas, all subside suddenly when you are deemed as a deviant. You are isolated, believed to be nothing, and therefore, gone.
Anger sprouts from injustice. This is the rationality in anger—even how disproportionate it feels, like how Andre feels his anger. It is rooted in the lack of good treatment. The hate you feel is disproportionate as if your body begs to regurgitate all the hate you have and project it to anyone else—your family, your peers, and even yourself. You have this strong want to let others feel the pain you feel and bear, simply because this is the part of you that yearns and begs to be seen. To be understood, to be empathized with, to feel human, to be human.
To be treated as you should've been treated—well.
Anger is human. It is a part of humanity itself. Yet, as true as it can be, you can never heal with the same thing that caused it. Pain does not heal pain and anger does not heal anger, that is reality.
Andre Kriegman is anger, he is a reflection of humanity itself and the humanity he was shown. Humanity is anger.

I had an extremely bad experience with NOCD—a company that sells OCD treatment to clients—and a YouTuber I watch just promoted the company on their channel. So, I'm making this post to warn people about the company. I do not recommend NOCD.
The company expects you to fit into their cookie cutter therapy model as if their clients aren't all individuals with extremely diverse backgrounds. I especially do not recommend NOCD if you have more conditions than solely OCD. They do not know how to handle people who have multiple disorders and mental conditions.
The only positive I will say about NOCD, and this is a major stretch to count here, is that NOCD's website has a lot of information about different OCD subtypes. You may learn you have more OCD subtypes than you realized by reading NOCD's webpages about the disorder. Did the NOCD therapist I had actually treat me well with multiple subtypes? Absolutely not.
Keep in mind that the therapy that NOCD offers is a type of exposure therapy made for OCD. This means that if the therapy is not done correctly, there is severe likelihood of psychological harm to the client, which may worsen the client's OCD symptoms. NOCD therapists do not work with their clients on trauma either. They solely "treat" OCD. If you want more than your OCD to be treated, especially if your other mental disorders intertwine with your OCD, do not go to NOCD for therapy. You will be forced to have a separate therapist for everything else, which means paying for two therapists (and NOCD will demand multiple NOCD appointments a week as well, so you'll be doing way more therapy than what's healthy). For months until I finally cut ties with the company, I was having three therapist appointments a week, which was harmful and expensive.
To make matters worse, NOCD does not allow you to choose your own therapist. The company will assign you a therapist and hammer home that they don't want you to switch to a different person. The therapist I had was so bad that she started forcing me to look into residential treatment as "homework" instead of putting me on the waitlist for a NOCD therapist trained in PTSD, which she had promised to me that she did. She told me to keep meeting with her while I was "on the waitlist," so she was lying to me about the situation while trying to shove an intensive residential treatment option on me that I didn't need and would have harmed me even more.
NOCD ghosted me as soon as I asked about the possibility of being given a refund—such a great example of professionalism. /s And what I've written here isn't even all of the problems I had with the company. Please potect yourself. I sincerely suggest finding a therapist outside of NOCD who is trained in treating OCD specifically. That therapist will also be able to treat your trauma and other mental disorders too. You'll be saving money and not paying a horrible company to worsen your OCD symptoms. You'll also have a therapist who doesn't shove you into their company's mold and expect you to magically fit. Your therapist won't have a manager telling them what to do; your therapist will focus on what you as the client want and need.
If you need proof of my validity, I just finished my MSW degree. Therapy and trauma were main focuses of my master's degree program. Do not use NOCD.

I often see fans demonize some characters like Belos,The Blights, Camila, into far worse versions of themselves like fans portraying Camila as abusive since she wants Luz go to Reality Check Camp to correct her behavior and certain people interpret that of her sending her to a conversation therapy camp or the Blights while they are bad parents for sure they are sometimes depicted as physically abusive or homophobic despite that sort of thing not existing in the boiling isles and Finally Belos gets made into a bigot who is sexist, racist, homophobic because he a white Christian male despite not making any insults for Luz being a woman or POC while his stance of sexual orientation or gender identity is unknown the fact he didn’t insult Luz for being a woman or POC is remarkable progressive for a Man who is born in the 1600’s also He FICTIONAL and we already have enough of those people in real life what do you think?
I do say this, people need to start separating the art from the artist and fantasy from reality,
this type of writing and fictional perspective, a lot of viewers and fans sit through, its been done throughout animation, Even in real life affecting how we see our adult figures.
hope i say this, the best way i can cause the show did the adults and supporting characters dirty with its ill pacing in storytelling and character exposure
The Fans Of their favorite media love to exaggerate disliked characters (be it villains or unpopular ones) cause of how there perceived physically or in writing in the creator's eyes. We get this at the start of the first episode introducing Camila (whos a great mother who I relate to cause, I also was on the spectrum being raised by a single mom) I feel I look at her as a character who carries a burden with her being a single mother) yet relatable cause she does her best to take care of her daughter on earth cause she to is a single mother protecting her daughter from the harsh reality cause its not all huckydorey (like the ending of the show),when she wants luz to conform. the way fans see luz assomeone needing protecting, might villanize camila firsthand(DEMONIZING ADULT MOMENT BY FANDOM) as a cheerful person luz is, fans forget that she's also impressionable, impulsive, don't think far on consequneces and needy, might gloss over the fact she needs proper mannerisms (to get by in the world at times), cause shes young & fits the viewers mold of perception, that no one should be punished cause of sexuality, it might show she doesn't need help. Let's be clear the fans are gonna gloss the fact shes a troublemaker who brings harmful items to school WHICH fans should be concerned, i mean neurodivergent character doesn't mean good personality,
2. The blight situation I swear they did Odalia dirty with this GRRR & how talented and amazing Rachel MacFarlane is (Her VA voicing hayley from American Dad.)
She also over exaggerated for being ( DEMONIZED BY FANDOM cause SHE's an ADULT) to being just an abusive mother, but however others will see it is a character who was a dark and humorous character at least & she has great writing tools to be & alador was just a plot device to make amity look good even the twins, & get rid of odalia even though her had his hand in amity's abuse, which I feel no one in the blight fam is not innocent (neither was amity, also which the twins didn't get fleshed out more & used as plot device for lumity, Which fans at times gloss over. Fans will over-exaggerate that Odalia was physically abusive to the kids but NEVER WAS! cause that's a negative perception on the fandom that (We have a adult hater situation nowadays of how this new age of Gen Z & alpha kids are raised,
i also wrote a post on the matter btw
The Belos Treatment (we al know how the creator treated him, such good potential DOwn the Drain.)
Bruh or GiIIIRRRRLL, I commend the Belos fans for being on their own ship supporting and adding more to his BG in fanfic & art
Belos was an intriguing villain who rivaled not only Frollo, the horned king, & Prof. Screweyes. This man also has a perception amongst the fans who followed the creator's way of how he was written (basically the new Chloe bourgeois treatment from miraculous.) He was only a character who was hell-bent on piping witches out and saving his humankind NOT BEING Racist Homophobic, or BIgoted, However, Chloe made racist & prejudiced remarks To Marinette in the cooking episode,(BUT BELOS DIDNT!) So he's an equal villain Who is all about equal rights means equal fights (falls under the neutral evil cause of how he was depicted into a person of tragedy upbringing to now a one-sided character (getting tired of how creators write villains in a one-sided manner.) oh and some people need proper knowledge of the 1600s cause belos was born in that era and I heard someone saying he was born in 1700s which I feel the show does suffer from anachronisms.
And don't get me started of how the fans go about Darius cause that has angry black man written all over it, along Manny being ONLY relevant in Luz's dire moment not being explored more,
hope i put down a lot of tea & crumpets for everyone hope you also can look at my video essay on my YouTube.
hope you enjoy comment and subscribe for more.

Buckshot Anon here! As the second option on the poll, I'm going to cover the death of Nunalastor blog creation, Detective Guy Winters. His death was attributed to a vague terminal disease from months-long exposure to a highly toxic black mold.
Something that needs to be clarified right off the bat is that mold does not cause cancer on its own. Black mold may cause a plethora of other problems, but there is no evidence mold directly causes cancer. Contrary to what anyone would believe when they hear about a terminal illness, cancer may not be the culprit.
Theoretically: If his disease was cancer from the beginning, what would need to happen is for the mold itself to have cancerous traits. Fungi can develop a type of nucleus cancer, though this almost never happens under natural conditions and is more likely to occur from being cultured in a lab. If the mold had cancerous traits, any mold that lingered in Guy's system from breathing it in would have to die and then metastasize throughout his body, giving him cancer not with his own cells. Just to give you all something new to fear besides sepsis and coconut water.
For this to be viable, Guy would need a highly compromised immune system, or his immune system would have fought it off long before it reached that point. There was a man who got fatal cancer from a tapeworm, but it’s believed the foreign cancer only managed to kill him because he also had HIV. There is a way for Guy’s immune system to not have fought it off without having HIV, and that would be because he was exposed to the mold for so long that his body no longer registered it as something foreign to fight against. His immune system would still need to be some level of compromised, just not with the intensity of HIV. All of this being said, the chances of all of the appropriate factors lining up to make this possible are so slim that this was more a thought experiment than anything else.
Realistically: The disease that killed Guy would likely be pulmonary fibrosis. For those who haven't heard of this disease, pulmonary fibrosis is referring to scarring in the lung tissue that makes it significantly harder for the lungs to properly function. This disease is considered to be terminal because it is a progressively worsening disease with no known cure.
How quickly pulmonary fibrosis progresses and worsens in a patient varies from person to person. Some people may become ill very fast while others may be relatively stable for months or years with nothing but some shortness of breath and a persistent dry cough before it becomes a life-threatening problem. The average survival rate for someone with pulmonary fibrosis is between three and five years after diagnosis, closer to three in the cases of those who go without treatment or have very little.
Regarding treatments, Guy is in an interesting position. Pulmonary fibrosis didn't have a clinical description until 1944, which might make it seem like no treatments existed. However, silicosis is a type of pulmonary fibrosis, and this was a great health concern during the 1930s. While there wasn't a cure for this disease, variants of it were in the public consciousness, and that could have a positive impact on Guy's life expectancy because even if not much, doctors would be attempting treatments. As Guy would be able to confirm he wasn't breathing in silica, he wouldn't be diagnosed, but his symptoms would be similar enough that he might be given access to the same treatments being attempted for silicosis.
His life expectancy would still be automatically on the shorter end because of quality of medicine, but if his condition was stable for a longer period beforehand, he could still live for around five to seven years.
The decisive factor in what would finish him off also varies, as death from pulmonary fibrosis on its own would be respiratory failure once there is too much damage for the lungs to function at all. However, just as commonly death comes from a complication related to the disease and not the disease itself.
Remember when I mentioned mold doesn't directly cause cancer? If Guy were to develop cancer, it would be because pulmonary fibrosis comes with an increased risk of lung cancer. This is still not the most likely thing to happen, but it's worth mentioning.
What is more likely to finish Guy off if not respiratory failure or heart failure as a result of the heart overworking to compensate for partially blocked pulmonary arteries, is other complications or diseases in the lungs. As the disease progresses, other problems may appear such as blood clots or collapsed lungs. Another issue would be lung diseases like tuberculosis and pneumonia. Tuberculosis and pneumonia just so happened to be some of the leading causes of death in the 1930s, lower than they were in years past, but still up there in terms of fatality.
In summary: Guy suffered from the incurable disease pulmonary fibrosis. His disease may have progressed into cancer, but that is less likely. He most likely died either from respiratory failure or from a disease like tuberculosis or pneumonia he couldn't properly fight off.
If he became sick in 1929, his date of death would be anywhere from 1932-1936.

there is a specific art piece of your’s that seems to have vanished off the internets: “Dark Lord Gerakobitz - Bad End AU”. and I know it disappeared recently because I have a cross-post from your DeviantArt from November 2023
https://www. tumblr.com/loveandmad/ 733130379991629824/dark-lord-gerakobitz-bad-end-au- by-ruckis-rookie (remove the spaces) that now goes to a 404 page
Yeahhh about that. A lot of old art of mine of Fawful and the other M&L lineup has up and vanished. Twould be on purpose.
Y'see, after some very personal events I tried distancing myself from the M&L fandom. The game series remains very sentimental to me, but paired with the personal reasons and the poor treatment Nintendo was giving their fans, I took a long (possibly few) year hiatus. One of several reasons for my hiatus was guilt that I had strayed so far from the source material that the cast of characters didn't seem like the og cast of characters, rather OCs made to fit the mold of them. So by the time I came back I had revamped all the designs I had for the M&L lineup were revamped to be featured as an antagonistic group for my nonfandom oc story called "Order of the Stars" that I'm working on.
The one inspired by my old Fawful design, now named "Geragera", is VERY special to me. He was the one I projected onto the most in the past and he was the one I worked the hardest to distance from the source material without changing him so much that what I had built was no longer there. He's basically a second Fursona to me now. Words can't describe what he means to me.
But despite the many reminders that I gave to old fans that I would be moving on and if I were to ever return to M&L I'd be referencing the source material closer, people still kept missing the memo. Even years later some get confused and it really made me realize how much of an influence I had on shaping the fanon Fawful that's remembered today. It was... incredibly disheartening and upsetting given how hard I worked to make Gera his own character. And furthermore it didn't make sense to me HOW comparisons were still being drawn. I had disappeared for a while to let the fire and the hype die down, in what world to people think THIS
Looks like THIS
If anything at this point Gera takes more inspiration from Yoshi in appearance, I'm shocked more comparisons haven't been drawn to the dinosaur because then I might actually be flattered
But given the circumstances I'd been silently deleting a lot of my old works and archiving them on a personal thumbdrive. It initially started with things I'd see pop up in my notifications that people liked. If I deemed a picture too close to my old fanon Fawful I'd save and delete it. But eventually it got so upsetting to me that in an anger fueled moment I went on an art purge to try and erase the impact I left, or at least scrub what I could to let Gera have a proper limelight instead of being stuck in the shadow of the thing that inspired him. People were also confusing Order of the Stars for an AU, which it's very much not.
While normally I wouldn't have minded the exposure, in fact I would have been flattered had it been years prior (even though the same pic was very much up on Tumblr at some point), that picture was a sore reminder of the past I was so desperate to distance myself. One of many, and reminded me I had to scrub more than just Tumblr... and might have possibly been the catalyst to the purge? I dunno, I slept since then.
The closest you'll get to it now is a horror themed bad end AU that I made that follows a very similar concept
And this is very generous considering the hell I've gone through. It got so bad that I haven't felt very compelled to draw Fawful anymore for fear of further confusion, heck, more recently I decided that I was just going to exclusively post any future M&L art I make over here because I got tired of people finding reasons to draw comparisons on other sites too. I even thought about dropping ANY M&L drawings related to Beanish just to get away from it, but decided against it. I've even started putting more emphasis on Gera's snout just to make him seem less Beanish, which sucks because I've had to stray away from what makes my style mine to begin with. I could easily change his colors, but I can't bring myself to. He's been like this for years now and it's a characteristic that I can't easily let go of, nor do I want to. I've very begrudgingly changed my Beanish HC so that they don't have blue tongues and blood anymore (which was initially nspired by a beta Cackletta sprite having a blue tongue). It feels like I'm having to strip any and all hc personality I gave to certain fandom characters just to create more distance, which sucks.
It gets hurtful after a while, especially considering Geragera has more than just one inspiration... but yeah, a lot of my old stuff got purged and personally archived for my own growth. Truly sorry about that, and for the being a lengthy explanation. Truth be told I also needed a reason to get this off of my chest but I was never prompted until now. For future reference though (and this goes for just about anyone) I would greatly appreciate if you asked permission before making a crosspost sharing my work. There's a good chance I probably would have said no on that one. Anything that remains on this site is either too sentimental to get rid of or still close enough to the source material to stick around.
#mail found under the secret rock#ruckis borks#even now I'm debating whether or not to add key tags I'm afraid people wont take this well#but I might have to#mario and luigi rpg#fawful#order of the stars#geragera guffaw#just to get the word out their and prevent future confusion#*there

My ass preparing "AND ANOTHR THING"
People being mean about pommes relationship with bbh is so fucked!!!
It bothered me that people didn't care as much about her BEFORE she started hanging out with BBH.
It's bizarre to me!
The value of eggs for some reason in this Fandom was weirdly adjusted by exposure and time spent with BBH. Which is the most frustrating thing in my personal opinion.
They are all important and were important before they did or didn't hang out with BBH.
Even lullah only started getting more praise after she started showing up later in the evenings to hang out. This Fandom was mean to her over and over.
Outright saw someone GLAD she was gone. Called her a "cop out player bait" character. She got so much backlash for having arguments or disagreeing. Her, Pomme, Leo, Em and Sunny all played very complex characters who didn't fit the mold perfectly on how little girls should act and this Fandom hated them all differently for it.
Actual insane behavior.
This is entirely Fandom neg here lmao. Image an annoyance shaking their head at the tags frequently. Yall don't know how to behave sometimes. I'm not asking you all to like every single character ever and like everything that they do. But sending death threats and wishing characters would die or be removed entirely is some of the most selfish pissbaby behavior in existence. Sometimes characters you don't like exist! Your opinions are not universal! You are not the center of the universe!
Let people play this stupid fucking game how they choose! Stop living vicariously through streamers and characters! You can absolutely relate to them ect but at the end of the day they are their own people. Knock that shit off. I hope next run of whatever the fuck gets going people stop backseating and wishing people died. Stop taking everything everyone does so fucking seriously. People tease one another they're literally playing a game with their friends and are all adults.
Sorry, tangent over.
Sorry for rambling in your askbox. Not for what I said >:| I mean it MCYT Fandom. Chill the fuck out.
Tbh from what I’ve seen, a lot of people who disliked Pomme being adopted by bbh were from the french side of the fandom and it came from their criticism of cc!bbh (which I would argue was quite valid to an extent) but in some cases it got too intense
Pomme’s character in general is overlooked a lot and aaaah man :(((( it’s okay shes my number 1 forever though ❤️
DEFENDING THE FEM EGGS ONLINE ISNT ENOUGH I NEED A GUN /j Especially Pomme, Sunny and Em I’ve seen them being hated for absolutely no reason, to the point that some people were being insulting and hateful to their admins ???????????
Big up to their admins btw these three were some of my favourite (tbf I liked all the eggs just some I didn’t get too attached to due to timezones conflicting)
I think in general, sometimes some fans let their dislike of some characters (which is fan btw we all have our tastes) bleed into hate for the admins/cc playing them and ugh let’s not ?????? (fandom treatment of baghera and bagi amongst others, your crimes shall never be forgiven).
Especially sometimes, things would be said between ccs as just funny ahah moments and they would be interpreted as a bad character action that would lead to hate to the ccs and ??? hello ??? i love overanalysing things as much as the next person but lets take a step back sometimes

Does Your Dog Have Seasonal Allergies?
Like people, dogs can be allergic to various materials in the air. These materials are called allergens. And for dogs sensitive to these airborne allergens, they can experience signs of allergies.
Humans with seasonal allergies usually have runny eyes, a runny nose or stuffy nose, a scratchy throat, and other upper respiratory symptoms. But most dogs with seasonal allergies have itchy and irritated skin. Since the symptoms show up in dogs' skin, the condition is called atopic dermatitis or atopy.
What are the symptoms of seasonal allergies in dogs?
The symptoms of seasonal allergies vary depending on your dog and what they are allergic to. Most dogs will show signs of irritation in their skin, but they can have other symptoms.
Twelve common symptoms of seasonal allergies include:
Licking their paws
Rubbing their face
Shedding excessively
Biting their coat or skin
Licking their anal glands
Rubbing their butt against the floor or carpet
Chronic ear infections
Red, waxy, smelly, or inflamed ears
Red, inflamed, or infected skin
Sneezing more than usual
Unusually dark or thick elephant-like skin
Discoloration of the itchy skin
The most commonly affected areas of a dog’s body are their:
Paws
Toes
Ears
Underarms
Groin
Muzzle
Dogs with seasonal allergies generally show symptoms between 1 and 3 years of age. If you notice these signs, make an appointment with your dog’s veterinarian. Early detection and treatment are vital to managing canine allergies.
What triggers seasonal allergies in dogs?
Seasonal allergies are triggered by something your dog is sensitive to in their environment. While many substances can trigger allergies in dogs, the most common allergens are:
Tree pollens, such as cedar, ash, and oak
Weed pollens, like ragweed in humans
Grass pollens
Mold spores
Mildew
Dust mites
Shed skin cells, like pet allergies in humans
Unlike humans who breathe in airborne particles, airborne allergens get into the dog’s skin.
The skin is the first line of defense against foreign substances. If your dog’s skin can’t properly block the allergens, it triggers their immune system.
Once the allergens enter your dog’s body, their overactive immune system becomes inflamed. The inflammation causes itching and scratching, a telltale sign of dog allergies.
When are dogs most likely to get seasonal allergies?
Like humans, dogs experience allergies at different times of the year, depending on what triggers the allergic response. Some dogs have seasonal allergies that flare up once or twice throughout the year. Other dogs have year-round allergies. And like humans, some dogs’ seasonal allergies can develop into a chronic problem, becoming year-round allergies.
Allergies to tree, grass, and weed pollens are usually seasonal. So, you may only notice your dog showing symptoms at certain times of the year.
If your pup is most affected during the spring and summer, allergies to weed, grass, and tree pollens might be to blame. Try wiping your pup’s coat and feet when you come inside. This will wipe off any pollen and allergens trapped in their fur.
If your furry friend suffers year-round, molds, mildew, and house dust mites might be the offenders.
How do you treat seasonal allergies in dogs?
Since most seasonal allergies are environmental, there is no permanent cure. But, there are treatments available to control the symptoms. The best treatment depends on the seasons your dog is affected by allergies, what they are allergic to, and factors such as your dog's age and commitment to the treatment plan.
Treatments for canine seasonal allergies often involve one or more of the following methods.
1. Avoid allergens
The best treatment for seasonal allergies is avoiding allergens when possible. This might not be the perfect solution for your dog though. Pollen and other airborne allergens can travel in the air for miles.
But, there are some things you can do to limit allergen exposure in your home:
Wash your dog’s bedding weekly in hot, soapy water, and dry on a hot dryer cycle to kill dust mites.
Vacuum soft surfaces, such as carpeting and couches, often.
If possible, use hardwood or linoleum flooring and washable area rugs.
Vacuum floors and carpets weekly.
Use a vacuum cleaner with a high-efficiency air (HEPA) filter.
If possible, use air conditioning rather than open windows during pollen season.
Give your dog hard, washable chew toys rather than plush toys.
If plush toys are a favorite, wash them weekly in hot, soapy water.
Use air conditioners on recirculation mode to cut down on humidity.
Use dehumidifiers to prevent mold in bathrooms, kitchens, and other damp spots.
2. Antihistamine treatment
Antihistamine medications block allergy symptoms. Examples of antihistamines used to treat seasonal dog allergies include:
Clemastine (Tavist)
Trimeprazine (Temaril-P, Vanectyl-P)
Astemizole (Hismanal)
These medications are widely used, but they are not as effective as other treatments in providing short- or long-term relief. Though, they may offer some relief when used with other therapies.
3. Anti-inflammatory steroids
Treatment with steroid medications can effectively block the allergic reaction and stop the itch. Your veterinarian may prescribe medications like:
Prednisone
Prednisolone
Dexamethasone
There can be negative side effects associated with steroids. Side effects may be more likely with higher doses or long-term use of these medications.
Some side effects include:
Extreme hunger
Extreme thirst
Weakening of the immune system
Rise in blood sugar
Infections, particularly upper respiratory tract and urinary tract infections
The goal is to use other treatments with steroids to lessen or eliminate the need for steroid medications.
Omega-3 fatty acid supplements can improve the response to steroids in some dogs. In some cases, omega-3 supplements can stop the skin from producing inflammatory chemicals. Supplementing with omega-3s can lower the steroid dose needed to control symptoms.
4. Shampoo therapy
Bathing your dog with a hypoallergenic shampoo can soothe inflamed skin. Bathing and wiping down their coat and skin often also washes out any allergens your dog may pick up.
Ask your vet for recommendations on which shampoo to buy. Some are available over the counter (OTC) while others require a prescription from your veterinarian. Your vet can also tell you how often to bathe your dog. The recommendations may vary by breed and skin type.
5. Allergy shots
Allergy Shots — or allergen-specific immunotherapy (ASIT) — can be very effective for dogs with environmental allergies. Allergy shots focus on retraining your dog's immune system.
This treatment is a good choice for dogs who have not responded well to other therapies. And it tends to work better in younger dogs.
Before beginning this treatment, your dog must be allergy tested by a veterinary dermatologist to find which allergens cause the reaction. Your vet then creates a custom allergy shot for your dog. You or your vet inject your dog with gradually higher doses until you reach a maintenance dose.
Treatment with allergy shots requires a long-term commitment from the owner. Additionally, allergy shots are not a quick fix. Most dogs and pet parents don’t see improvement for 6 months to 1 year.
Is it safe to give a dog Benadryl?
Although Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is not FDA-approved for animal use, it is generally safe to give a dog Benadryl. But, before reaching into your medicine cabinet, talk to your veterinarian about appropriate dosage and possible interactions.
The dosing between humans and animals is very different. Giving your dog too much Benadryl can hurt them, as with many human medications. And there are certain side effects you should watch for.
Common Benadryl side effects that dogs can experience include:
Drowsiness
Dry mouth
Trouble urinating
Salivating more than usual
Fast heart rate
Rapid breathing
If your dog takes any other medication or has another health condition, Benadryl might not be recommended. Make sure to ask your vet first.
When should you see a vet about dog allergy symptoms?
Generally, you should see your vet if your dog shows any signs of allergies, including:
Appearing itchy
Getting repeated ear infections.
Having inflamed, red, or irritated skin
Environmental allergies don’t go away on their own and tend to worsen the longer they are left untreated. The earlier you begin a treatment program, the more likely it is to be successful.
The bottom line
No pet parent likes watching their canine companion suffer. But seasonal allergies don’t just get under our skin. They can get under our dogs’ skin, too! And like humans, dogs can react to seasonal allergens, like plant pollens, molds, mildew, and dust mites.
These allergens enter the dog’s body through the skin. So, while humans have more upper respiratory allergy symptoms, our dogs have more skin inflammation, itching, and scratching.
While there is no cure for seasonal allergies, many treatments are available. And the sooner the problem is addressed, the better the chance of controlling the symptoms. If you suspect your dog may have seasonal allergies, make an appointment with your vet so you can discuss available treatment options.

Essential Steps in Water Damage Restoration
Water damage can wreak havoc on your property, leading to costly repairs and potential health hazards. Whether caused by natural disasters, plumbing failures, or human error, the impact of water damage can be extensive and devastating. Effective water damage restoration is crucial to mitigate these impacts and restore your property to its former state. Here are the essential steps involved in water damage restoration.
Assessment
The first step in water damage restoration is a thorough assessment of the affected area. Identifying the extent of water damage is critical to determine the necessary course of action. Quick assessment is vital as prolonged water exposure can lead to structural damage and mold growth. Professional restoration companies use advanced tools like moisture meters and thermal imaging cameras to detect hidden water damage.
Water Extraction
Once the assessment is complete, the next step is water extraction. Removing standing water as quickly as possible minimizes further damage to the property. Various methods and equipment are used for water extraction, including submersible pumps, wet vacuums, and industrial-strength water extractors. While DIY methods may be effective for minor leaks, professional extraction is recommended for significant water damage to ensure thorough removal.
Drying and Dehumidification
After water extraction, the affected areas must be dried and dehumidified to prevent mold and mildew growth. Techniques for effective drying include the use of high-speed air movers and industrial-grade dehumidifiers. These devices accelerate the evaporation process and remove moisture from the air. Monitoring humidity levels and adjusting equipment as needed ensures that the drying process is efficient and complete.
Restoration and Repair
Restoration and repair are essential to return your property to its pre-damage condition. This step involves repairing structural damage, such as replacing drywall, flooring, and insulation. Addressing mold and mildew is also crucial, as these can pose serious health risks. Professional restoration services use antimicrobial treatments and specialized cleaning techniques to eliminate mold spores and prevent future growth.
Prevention
Preventing future water damage is the final step in the restoration process. Regular maintenance and timely repairs can significantly reduce the risk of water damage. Here are some preventive tips:
Inspect and maintain your plumbing system regularly.
Ensure proper drainage around your property.
Install a sump pump in your basement.
Use water leak detectors and alarms.
Keep gutters and downspouts clean and functional.
Conclusion
Water damage restoration is a multi-step process that requires prompt action and professional expertise. By following these essential steps—assessment, water extraction, drying and dehumidification, restoration and repair, and prevention—you can effectively mitigate the impacts of water damage and protect your property. Taking preventive measures and being prepared can save you time, money, and stress in the long run.

Addressing Housing Disrepair: Ensuring Safe and Healthy Homes
If you have ever experienced issues like leaking roofs, faulty heating systems, or mold infestations in your rented accommodation, you are not alone. Housing disrepair is a prevalent problem that affects millions of tenants worldwide, leading to various health, safety, and financial concerns. In this article, we delve into the intricacies of housing disrepair, its causes, impacts, legal rights of tenants, and measures to address and prevent such issues.
Introduction to Housing Disrepair
Housing disrepair refers to the state of a property that has fallen into a state of neglect or deterioration due to the failure of the landlord to maintain it adequately. This can encompass a wide range of issues, including structural defects, dampness, pest infestations, electrical faults, and plumbing problems. While some landlords promptly address maintenance issues, others may neglect their responsibilities, leaving tenants to live in substandard conditions.
Common Causes of Housing Disrepair
Several factors can contribute to housing disrepair, including poor construction, lack of regular maintenance, and environmental factors such as extreme weather conditions. Structural issues like cracked walls, unstable foundations, and leaking roofs are often the result of long-term neglect. Damp and mold thrive in poorly ventilated or damp environments, posing health risks to occupants. Plumbing and heating problems, such as burst pipes and malfunctioning boilers, can disrupt daily life and compromise safety.
Impact of Housing Disrepair
The consequences of living in a property with disrepair issues extend beyond mere inconvenience. Chronic exposure to dampness and mold can exacerbate respiratory conditions like asthma and allergies, leading to respiratory infections and other health problems. Additionally, living in substandard conditions can take a toll on mental well-being, causing stress, anxiety, and depression. Moreover, tenants may incur additional expenses for temporary accommodation or medical treatment, further exacerbating their financial strain.
Legal Rights of Tenants
Tenants have legal rights regarding housing disrepair, and landlords are obligated to maintain their properties to a certain standard. In the UK, the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985 outlines the landlord's responsibilities, including ensuring the property is safe, structurally sound, and free from hazards. Tenants have the right to request repairs in writing and, if necessary, take legal action to enforce their rights. Options include contacting local housing authorities, seeking assistance from legal aid services, or pursuing compensation through the courts.
Steps to Take When Facing Housing Disrepair
If you encounter housing disrepair issues in your rented accommodation, it's essential to take action promptly. Start by reporting the problem to your landlord or letting agent in writing, providing details of the issue and requesting repairs within a reasonable timeframe. Keep records of all communications, including photographs or videos of the disrepair, as evidence. If the landlord fails to address the issue, seek advice from a housing solicitor or advocacy organization to explore your legal options.
Resources Available for Tenants
Fortunately, tenants have access to various resources and support services to assist them in dealing with housing disrepair issues. Local housing authorities can provide guidance on tenants' rights and mediation services to resolve disputes between landlords and tenants. Legal aid services offer free or low-cost legal advice and representation to individuals facing housing-related issues. Additionally, community organizations and charities may offer practical support, advocacy, and educational programs to empower tenants.
Preventive Measures
Prevention is key to avoiding housing disrepair issues in the first place. Tenants can protect themselves by conducting regular inspections of their rental properties and promptly reporting any maintenance concerns to the landlord. Familiarize yourself with your tenancy agreement and understand your rights and responsibilities regarding property maintenance. By taking proactive measures and addressing minor issues early on, you can prevent larger problems from developing and ensure a safe and habitable living environment.
Conclusion
Housing disrepair is a significant issue that can have far-reaching consequences for tenants' health, safety, and well-being. By understanding their legal rights, seeking appropriate assistance, and taking proactive measures, tenants can effectively address and prevent housing disrepair issues. It is crucial for landlords, policymakers, and community stakeholders to collaborate in ensuring that all residents have access to safe, healthy, and adequately maintained housing.
FAQs
What are the landlord's responsibilities regarding housing disrepair? Landlords are responsible for maintaining their properties in a safe and habitable condition, including addressing any disrepair issues promptly.
How long does a landlord have to make repairs? Landlords should address repair requests within a reasonable timeframe, typically within 14 to 30 days, depending on the severity of the issue.
Can tenants withhold rent if repairs are not made? In some cases, tenants may be able to withhold rent or deduct the cost of repairs from their rent if the landlord fails to address the issue within a reasonable timeframe.
What if the landlord refuses to make repairs? If the landlord refuses to make necessary repairs, tenants can seek legal advice and explore options such as contacting local housing authorities or taking legal action.

weird thing happened last night
For those of you who don’t know, I’m a third year vet student. I work in my school’s ICU, and have been in emergency and critical care for about six years now. Vets are a superstitious bunch in general, and I’m not really an exception-- not that I believe in jinxes or anything, but I think that our little rituals and traditions help us make sense of an unpredictable and heartbreaking job.
Emergency and critical care sees a lot of death, and I make a lot of paws: clay, ink, foam, anything. It’s something we do to help the pet’s family remember them. One of my superstitions is that I don’t make memorial paw prints while an animal is still alive. It feels wrong to me, borderline disrespectful to focus on their impending death instead of honoring their last moments with us. But last night, I made an exception.
“Chili” presented to our emergency department for prolonged seizures of unknown origin. A one-year old border collie, she had no history of epilepsy, and owners were unaware of any trauma or exposure to neurotoxins. I got to work right when she arrived, so I was involved in her initial intake. We’d stopped the seizures, but she was hyperthermic and tremoring, her lactate through the roof and her oxygen saturation in the basement. We intubated, and blood began trickling out of the endotracheal tube.
I was assigned to one-on-one care, monitoring vitals and helping doctors with treatment. Coworkers drifted in and out, commenting on the case. We’re used to seeing things like this, but it’s always sobering to see a young dog in such rough shape. We speculated on what could have put her in this condition-- rat bait, heat stroke, blunt trauma-- and we prognosticated, saying it would take a miracle for her to come out of this. “I’ve heard of ‘good things,’” I joked. “Would love to see one happen someday.” A few more jokes were tossed around about how nothing good happens in the ICU. No miracles in vet med, just euthasol and clay paws.
The resident on duty that night brought the owners back after a few hours of care with no improvement. Chili was obtunded, cardiovascularly unstable, and now hypothermic, with no further clues as to why. The owners cried for a while and eventually elected to euthanize. The resident nodded to me, and I went off to get some clay for a paw print.
When I returned with the clay, the owners were gone. Chili was on the table, taking the same fast and shallow breaths as she had been for hours at that point. Her people had decided not to stay for the euthanasia: it made no difference to Chili, in her comatose state, and they couldn’t bear to see their puppy like this. Understandable. The resident told me that they would like to take her paw print home with them.
I wanted to wait, of course. I don’t like making paw prints while my patients are still alive. But, knowing that the owners were waiting, I nodded and molded the clay into a flat circle. I took Chili’s left front paw and pressed the metacarpal pad into the circle, then digit II. Digit III. Digit IV twitched before I could make an impression in the clay, and then the whole paw was being yanked out of my hand. Her whole leg jerked back.
I looked up, immediately worried that I’d inflicted some deep pain, stimulating a reflex that only the worst neurologic depression could have suppressed. Instead, I saw two dark eyes looking back at me. Her head was raised. Her tail thumped. I called for the doctor. Chili lurched to her feet, and licked my nose.
I still don’t understand what happened. The resident ran to get the owners, and when they walked in, they saw their dog-- comatose just minutes before, seconds from lethal injection-- standing on the table like nothing had happened. I think we all cried a little, but nobody more than Chili’s mom.
I texted my coworker for an update after day shift today, and she let me know that Chili is doing great. No further seizures, eating and drinking well, pulmonary effusion resolving. Hopefully she can be weaned off of supplemental oxygen soon and go home to her parents. I’ve never seen a patient bounce up from the brink of death like that, and probably won’t see it again for a very long time.
What if I hadn’t pressed her paw into the clay? Would she have continued to sleep, obtunded, rigid and tremoring, as the injections, white then pink, diffused through her circulatory system, stopping her heart? I can’t stop thinking about it. Did she feel us beginning to mourn, and realize she wasn’t ready to go?
Did someone hear us deriding miracles and decide to show us something good?
I think that’s what I’m going with. I’m not religious, but I like the idea of a higher power saying that, just this once, the little dog gets to live a bit longer.

How Can You Identify Mold and Mildew in Your Shower?
Mold and mildew are common problems in bathrooms, where they find the perfect environment to grow and spread. They can ruin the appearance of your shower and cause health issues for you and your family. That’s why it’s important to keep your bathroom clean and dry and to spot any signs of mold and mildew as soon as possible.
This article explores how to identify mold and mildew in your shower and how to get rid of them effectively so you can enjoy a fresh and healthy bathroom.
Understanding Mold and Mildew
Mold and mildew are fungi that can grow in moist environments, indoors and outdoors. Though often mentioned together, they have distinct characteristics.
Mold is usually darker in color, ranging from black to green, and can penetrate beneath the surface of the affected material, leading to more significant damage.
Mildew, on the other hand, tends to be lighter, appearing white or gray, and usually grows on the surface, making it easier to clean.
The primary culprits behind the growth of mold and mildew in showers are high humidity levels, poor ventilation, and standing water. Bathrooms, especially showers, provide the perfect breeding ground for these fungi due to the constant moisture and warmth. Lack of adequate ventilation traps moist air inside, while residual water from showers contributes to the damp conditions that mold and mildew thrive in. Regularly leaving wet towels or shower curtains in the area can also exacerbate the problem.
Identifying Mold and Mildew in Your Shower
Recognizing the signs of mold and mildew in your shower is essential for maintaining a healthy living environment.
Visual Identification
Mold typically appears as irregularly shaped spots that can range in color from black, green, or red, indicating a deeper infestation that might require more aggressive treatment. Mildew often looks like powdery or fluffy patches of white or gray on the surface of shower walls, floors, or curtains. You're likely to find mold and mildew in the grout lines between tiles, on ceilings, in corners, and around the edges of showers where water tends to collect.
Smell
A musty, earthy odor is a telltale sign of mold and mildew presence, even if you can't immediately see it. This smell is due to the microbial volatile organic compounds (MVOCs) produced by the fungi as they grow. If you notice such an odor in your bathroom, it's time to inspect your shower for visible signs of mold and mildew.
Health Symptoms
Exposure to mold and mildew can lead to various health issues, particularly for individuals with allergies, asthma, or weakened immune systems. Symptoms may include sneezing, coughing, skin irritation, and respiratory problems. If members of your household start to experience these symptoms without a clear cause, it could indicate a mold or mildew problem in the home, necessitating a thorough inspection and remediation effort.
The Risks of Ignoring Mold and Mildew
Ignoring mold and mildew in your shower doesn't just leave an unsightly blemish; it can have serious implications for both your health and your home.
Health Risks
Prolonged exposure to mold and mildew can significantly affect your health. Individuals with allergies, asthma, or compromised immune systems are especially at risk. Health complications can range from mild symptoms like sneezing, coughing, and skin irritation to more severe respiratory issues.
Damage to Your Home
Beyond health concerns, mold and mildew can cause considerable damage to your home. They can eat away at grout and caulk, leading to leaks that may result in structural damage over time. Porous surfaces like wood and drywall can absorb mold, necessitating costly repairs and replacements. How to Remove Mold and Mildew
Eliminating mold and mildew from your shower requires careful attention to both the cleaning products you use and the methods you employ.
Initial Cleaning Steps
Before tackling mold and mildew:
Equip yourself with gloves and a mask to avoid direct contact with harmful spores.
Ensure the bathroom is well-ventilated to disperse any airborne spores and cleaning fumes.
Start by scrubbing the affected areas with a stiff brush and a mixture of water and mild detergent to remove surface mold and mildew.
For persistent spots, you may need a more potent solution.
Recommended Products
For a more effective cleaning, MARBLELIFE Mold & Mildew Stain Remover Cleaner is highly recommended. Specially formulated for bathroom surfaces, this cleaner penetrates deep to eliminate mold and mildew at the source. Its powerful cleaning agents are designed to tackle the toughest stains without damaging your tiles, grout, or shower surfaces.
Application Tips
When using MARBLELIFE Mold & Mildew Stain Remover Cleaner, follow these tips for the best results:

Doing an experiment! I ordered some vermiculite treated with smoke from an Australian grower in order to try seeing if some of my hard to germinate seeds respond to smoke treatment, since some of them grow where fires are common.
My idea is to try and make a reusable smoke treatment pad. (Until the paper towel molds anyways) I made a little envelope out of paper towel to encase the vermiculite in. Then made envelopes for the seeds so they can all be moistened and rested against the smoked vermiculite while being stored in a bag.
The plants I’m testing this on are the Appleberry (Billardiera longiflora) and Ruby Saltbush (Enchylaena tomentosa).
Exposure to the chemicals in wildfire smoke breaks down the germination inhibitors in some plants’ seeds in same way cold stratification does to other seeds to ensure they only germinate after winter.

How to Maintain and Extend the Lifespan of Indian Painted Surfaces
Introduction Indian painted surfaces, whether it's walls, furniture, or exterior facades, require regular maintenance to preserve their beauty and longevity. By implementing proper care and maintenance practices, homeowners can extend the lifespan of painted surfaces and keep them looking fresh and vibrant. In this article, we will provide valuable tips and techniques on how to maintain and protect painted surfaces in Indian homes.
Regular Cleaning and Dusting Dust and dirt can accumulate on painted surfaces over time, dulling their appearance. Regular cleaning and dusting play a vital role in maintaining the freshness of painted surfaces. Use a soft, dry cloth or a feather duster to gently remove dust from walls, furniture, and other painted surfaces. For stubborn stains or marks, dampen a soft cloth with mild soap and water, and gently wipe the affected area. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that can damage the paint. Additionally, it's important to clean painted surfaces before applying any touch-ups or maintenance treatments to ensure proper adhesion and a smooth finish.
Avoiding Moisture and Humidity Moisture and humidity are common challenges in many parts of India, and they can pose risks to painted surfaces. Excessive moisture can cause paint to peel, bubble, or develop mold and mildew. To protect painted surfaces, ensure proper ventilation in bathrooms, kitchens, and areas prone to high humidity. Wipe away any water spills or splashes promptly to prevent water damage. In humid climates, consider using dehumidifiers or moisture-absorbing products to maintain optimal humidity levels. Applying a moisture-resistant paint or a suitable sealer on exterior surfaces can provide an extra layer of protection against moisture-related issues.
Touch-ups and Repairs Over time, painted surfaces may develop minor chips, scratches, or scuff marks. Promptly addressing these issues with touch-ups and repairs can help prevent further damage and maintain the overall appearance of the surface. Keep a small quantity of the original paint used for touch-ups, as color matching can be challenging. Before applying touch-up paint, clean the area thoroughly and ensure it is dry. Use a small brush or a sponge to carefully apply the touch-up paint, blending it with the surrounding area. For larger areas or significant damage, it is advisable to consult a professional painter to ensure a seamless repair.
Protecting from Sunlight and UV Rays The intense sunlight and UV rays in many parts of India can cause paint to fade or discolor over time. Protecting painted surfaces from direct sunlight can significantly extend their lifespan. Consider using curtains, blinds, or window films that provide UV protection to minimize exposure. For exterior surfaces, choose high-quality paints with UV-resistant properties that offer increased durability and color retention. Applying a clear coat or protective sealant can also help shield painted surfaces from UV damage. Regularly inspect painted surfaces for signs of fading or discoloration, and promptly address any issues to prevent further damage.
Avoiding Harsh Chemicals and Abrasive Cleaning When cleaning painted surfaces, it's crucial to avoid harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaning methods that can harm the paint. Avoid using strong solvents, bleach, ammonia, or abrasive scrubbing pads, as they can strip the paint or cause scratches. Instead, opt for mild cleaning solutions and gentle cleaning techniques. Test any new cleaning product on a small, inconspicuous area before applying it to the entire painted surface. Use soft cloths, sponges, or non-abrasive brushes for cleaning. Additionally, it's important to follow the manufacturer's guidelines and recommendations for cleaning and maintenance specific to the type of paint used.

Allergies: The Basics In A Nutshell
Introduction
Allergies can be a nuisance. They can make you cough and sneeze, and they can keep you from enjoying life. In this article, we'll talk about what allergies are, how they're treated, and how to avoid them!
What Are Allergies
Allergies are a reaction to an allergen. An allergen is any substance that causes the immune system to produce antibodies against it and trigger inflammation. Allergens can be environmental, food or medication and can be inhaled, ingested or injected into the body.
Allergic reactions occur when your body's cells release histamines as part of their normal response to foreign substances like pollen or peanuts (the latter is actually not a true nut). These histamines cause swelling in certain tissues such as sinuses or airways, leading to symptoms like congestion and difficulty breathing respectively.
Pollen
Pollen is a plant's male reproductive cells, which are produced in the stamen of flowers. Pollen grains are very small and can be carried by the wind. When you breathe in pollen-laden air, it may cause an allergic reaction if you're allergic to that particular type of pollen.
The most common symptoms for allergies caused by pollen include sneezing and watery eyes; however, some people experience asthma attacks after exposure to certain types of plants (like grasses). In addition to causing allergies, inhaling large amounts of certain types of pollen can lead to seasonal rhinitis or hay fever--a condition characterized by nasal congestion as well as other symptoms such as itchy eyes or throat irritation
Natural Remedies And Over-The-Counter Medications For Allergies
Many over-the-counter medications are available for the treatment of allergies, including antihistamines, decongestants, and nasal sprays. These drugs can help relieve symptoms such as sneezing and itching.
Natural remedies such as avoiding allergens (or even eating them!), taking probiotics or supplements like vitamin C may also be helpful in relieving your symptoms. You can also try some home remedies like apple cider vinegar mixed with honey to soothe an irritated throat or using aloe vera gel on skin rashes caused by allergies.
If you have severe reactions to pollen or other airborne irritants then visit your doctor right away; they will likely recommend medication that lasts longer than what's available at local pharmacies because they know how serious these conditions can become if left untreated
This is a Brief Overview of Allergies.
Allergies are a common and often serious medical condition that can cause symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes and skin rashes. Allergens are substances that trigger the immune system to produce antibodies called immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies. These IgE antibodies then bind to mast cells in the body's mucous membranes and blood vessels (such as those found under your tongue) causing them to release histamine into nearby tissues. This causes inflammation at the site of contact with allergens such as pollen grains or dust mites.
The most common types of allergic reactions include hay fever (seasonal allergies), asthma triggered by airborne allergens such as dust mites or mold spores; eczema triggered by contact with certain plants like poison ivy; hives caused by food allergy or insect bites; drug reactions resulting from taking certain medications such as penicillin antibiotics while being sensitive
Conclusion
Allergies are a common condition that can be managed with proper treatment. If you have any questions about allergies or how to manage them, please contact your physician.

Coming from the perspective of urbex, there are a few dangers which align with abondoned places that have stagnant water, but it's not like they exude a cloud of toxic miasma.
Culling any human danger, such as laws or hostile people, the most common thing to worry about is sharp debris such as broken glass. Wouldn't want to get an infection! After that, structural problems can lead to dangerous collapse, especially in the case of disturbing or walking on weakened wood or rusted metal supports.
That goes for basically any kind of structure you might find. There are more specific problems you may run into like broken asbestos materials. The dust in old buildings is something you seriously want to avoid disturbing and breathing in.
If there is water damage, this can contribute to structural problems, and also depending on the materials used, toxic mold spores. Standing water in a wood building certainly improves the condition for mold to grow in. Not all mold species are the same, and peoples' sensitivity differ wildly, though in extreme cases that matters less. A much more likely biological threat would be manure from animals that have made the open structure their home.
Indeed, for flood waters, this is leads to contamination with broken septic tanks and sewer lines.
In the absence of sewage contamination, stagnant water isn't that dangerous. I wouldn't recommend drinking it, though.
Now dangers tend to get more specific and you have to worry about them less. In the case of a flooded area, you have to make sure not to fall in without a way to climb back out as drowning could occur. By the time a place is abandoned it probably doesn't have any live wires, but the kind of water is plenty conductive and could pose a danger of electrocution.
There are a variety of chemical agents that might be lurking in an industrial district, but its hard to go too much into specifics as basically every industrial facility that makes things has been abandoned at some point. If the structure is some tunnels or otherwise goes underground you have to worry about toxic gasses. If there was a fire, such as from burning electrical components, then this can cause a buildup of carbon monoxide. Carbon monoxide will generally disperse within natural air, but colder temperatures lowers the capacity to do so, which means going down a long ladder like one found in a steam tunnel can be deadly. You have to be especially mindful of this one because it is colorless and odorless.
Another gas is hydrogen sulfide. This one has the smell of sulfur, which you may recognize from rotten eggs. Hydrogen sulfide pools in normal air and is produced by natural bacterial breakdown or industrial processes, so sewers or other underground structures with biological contaminants are a concern. The gas is more obvious and less extreme in exposure symptoms so its not as dangerous to run into than carbon monoxide.
Then there is methane. Methane is soluble in water and produced through the breakdown in sewage and natural materials. Usually it off gasses quickly into the atmosphere, but you can run into higher concentrations of it if you just opened a flooded basement that has water saturated with it, such as from again waste treatment contamination. It poses a fire and asphyxiation hazard and rises in normal air ( a greenhouse gas ). Also in higher concentrations you can actually see it, apparently, but I can not verify that from my own experience. Least likely to run into this one.
In rare cases there may also be radiation risk, but this is highly location dependant. You probably are already aware of the location you're exploring has a risk for radiation exposure. But that is a thing that can happen. Maybe there could be some radon gas exposure but that's not really a common concern.
im pretty sure this post just. isnt true. as in, i googled dangers of stagnant water and most sources seem to indicate its fine as long as you dont swim in it? which doesn't seem to have anything to do with equipping a respirator
But I was also curious so I looked up "Katrina cough" on wikipedia:
The Louisiana Office of Public Health conducted a case-control study of emergency department visits in New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The OPH distributed a questionnaire to patients seeking treatment for cough, sinus drip, sneezing, wheezing, chest congestion, swollen red and puffy eye(s) and sore throat. According to the study, state epidemiologists found no increase in the rate of New Orleans-area respiratory illnesses. Although rates were found to be no different in comparison to state and country rates, the study showed that people with chronic sinus or respiratory symptoms were more affected by the hurricane.
State epidemiologist Dr. Raoult Ratard disputed the existence of any disease cluster associated with the hurricane in 2006: "There is no such thing as a single condition such as ‘Katrina Cough’ that would be different from the bacterial and viral respiratory conditions we would expect to see at that time of year...no such outbreak occurred because of Hurricane Katrina."[2]
so i think probably the author of this post is a member of an epistemic community founded more on personal narratives than on scientific naturalism.
but yeah the original post has almost 20k notes which is a good reminder of how easily unverifiable information can spread on the internet
