The problem with modern science fiction is that soooo much of it is built around the concept that technology is inherently evil, isolating, and brain numbing. You can see these themes as far back as the 1940s-1960s with telephones, radios, typewriters, etc. Hell, I bet it dates back to the Victorian era and the creation of the genre. Horror stories predate sci-fi so it could go all the way back to the invention of movable type. But the thing is, instead of “smart phones will turn us into mindless drones,” we could he exploring really cool themes. Like, the Mars Rover sings to itself. So, why is there no post human extinction book about the very last surviving robot who’s terrified because it is left all alone and comforts itself by singing to itself? Why are we not telling more stories about a society where we automatically accommodate the disabled with cool cyberpunk style accessibility tools, artificial limbs, etc. I don’t want more fictional stories about people dying because they can’t afford water or medication in the post apocalyptic society since that’s already happening right now. I want a futuristic mystery where the hero uses social media to track down and stop the killer/protect potential victims. *sigh* rant over.

Ace Vash, Allo Wolfwood. This is my favorite in terms of the realistic way that Wolfwood reacts to Vash's sexuality. I love a fic where he accepts Vash wholeheartedly, and he does here, but they do have to talk about it and it's something Wolfwood does have some feelings about. But he Loves Vash, so it's okay, and it's not framed as a compromise, it just Is!! rec post

Another Demi Vash and Greyace Wolfwood 💕 It's very important to me to have something on this list that includes sex, because asexuality is not the same as never having sex! For some people, that is absolutely how it works, but not for everyone, and I really like how Rev writes that here, especially in their specific poetry style. Honestly the more I re-read the more I just want to rant and analyze and explain why Victor is gay actually and so is literally everyone in the book...

Like, you get comparisons from articles nowadays between Victor and Lord Byron (one of Mary Shelley's friends) and like that is the most bisexual man to have ever existed even though the term wasn't invented, like, Frankenstein is gay, they're all queer.

I will rant later about the transness of The Creature and Victor and why Elizabeth and Victor aren't in love but do love each other if anyone is interested, idk, anyway, yeah, enjoy
