Are there official rules for this event? If so, where are they?

Hi! When I first made this event, I wanted it to be as accessible as possible, and as such, there aren't really any rules. Any medium is allowed, and you can pretty much do whatever you want to make the event work for you. Even if you want to pick and choose prompts from different days, I have no problem with that - all I really ask, which I would hope people do anyway, is that you tag your posts with content warnings, and ideally tag the various Merry Whump of May hashtags, which can be found in this blog's pinned post for the event.

If people would like for there to be a clearer set of rules for completionism, then feel free to let us know and that might be something we can figure out.

I often compare how worm handles it’s finale to those posts I see everyone once in a while criticizing media like Harry Potter in which they talk about how HP deals with systemic issues but those plots are never resolved.

I’m not much of a writer (shout out to that gun-control debate I started with my Nemesis omake) but since reading worm I’ve been trying to pay attention more to how character and plot arcs are resolved. And I think it’s interesting how little is actually needed to resolve worms systemic issues. They basically mention one progressive policy that’s been implemented then hand-wave the rest.

In Rachel’s epilogue, she finds out that everyone’s been given a clean slate so she is no longer a criminal. And that’s it.

This is able to resolve the systemic-related themes by implying that serious changes are being made without having to actually show them. Instead of having to lay out how he’d rebuild society, all WB does is mention that the villains aren’t villains anymore and leave the rest up to the viewers interpretation.

This also is a great finally to Rachel’s story as Rachel is specifically a character we’ve seen be criminalized unfairly from a young age. With her crimes expunged, we get a satisfying look at her new life of freedom.

I’m interested in how writers can rely on the viewers understanding of tropes and themes to imply satisfying finales without having to actually write them.
