Today's Beauty-Marked Beauty is: Ayame Sarutobi from Gintama

I've been catching up with the another series because of this blog and i really don't understand what Linuj wanted to go for with Ayame's character

In one side we hear that she killed Kizuna so thag Akane wouldn't become the culprit, it's a sacrifice to save someone she loved. But on the other hand not only did she made the cast go through an entire class trial but she even set up a trap to make herself seem less suspicious as the culprit, that's so contradictory to her sacrifice narrative because it means she did want to escape

And I'm wondering is this intentional? Or is just another case of Linuj's unusual writing? I just don't understand how we're meant to view this character

//Yeah, Ayame's role in the story is...a little perplexing. I like do her character, but on a first watchthrough, it can be strange to see all this. Here's my understanding:

//Kizuna found out that Yuki might be the mastermind, and so she tried to recruit Akane to help kill him. She disagrees, they get into an argument because Kizuna wants to escape, and in the process of trying to kill Akane so she can have someone die as part of her murder plan, a struggle ensues and Akane accidentally stabs Kizuna and runs off.

//In the trial, Ayame admitted that her reasoning was that Kizuna was already on the verge of death, so there was no time to get her help and, if she died, Akane would've become the Blackened. She had no time to save her, even if she wanted to.

//Ayame did all this in an attempt to save Akane, and Kizuna, whatever her motivation, corrects her dying message from "The Maid" to "Not the Maid." Whether it was a change of heart or just wanting everyone to know who actually killed her so they wouldn't escape, it's hard to say.

//Of course, even Rei points out that, if all of that were true, why go through a trial at all? Why not just confess from the start?

//I think we put too much stock in the idea that people with good intentions are also just okay with dying. The survival instinct is pretty strong, so in most cases, I doubt that they would just come forward and say it was them until they have no choice. Even if they do, it's not like everyone is just going to believe them immediately.

//Even Ayame admits that she had some intention of maybe escaping, as I think everyone here does, and was maybe using Akane as the pretext. That doesn't negate that it was done to save the girl she loved from dying, just that there's nuance to it.

//Ayame setting up and deliberately set off a trap to injure herself is also something she explains. The obvious answer there is to throw suspicion off of herself, but as she says after the trial, it was essentially penance for if she did escape. She lives, but she'll never run properly again thanks to her severed tendon.

//Of course, by the time the trial's finale set in, Ayame knew the full story with Akane and thus gave up on the idea of escaping. That weird bit about her pretending to be evil at the end was probably so nobody would feel bad about watching her get

//I think that, as a character, Ayame is meant to serve as the first major influence on Akane's growth as a person. In a very harsh way, of course, because this was the first fangan and thus it parallels a lot of what happens with Taka and Mondo ^^;

//I know I complain a lot about characters getting fridged, but that's about characters who die without any major role in their story and only to advance the development of another, and usually very briefly and shallowly. That's not what happened here, it was Kizuna facing the consequences of her actions and Ayame's decision to try and save someone she cared about a lot.

//As we'll see from here on out, Akane never forgets Ayame through all of this.

Mom's company picnic was today so I just spent 4 hours at an amusement park, in the humid heat, surrounded by crowds (I REALLY dislike crowds), and in pain both because my foot wrap was bugging me and because I pulled a muscle in my chest/shoulder area a few days ago

I'm tired and my mood is kinda shot, literally all I feel like doing is lying here playing video games (I tried to do some editing on a new Xingqiu ASMR for SoundCloud bc I love my bookworm swordsman, but I wasn't even feeling that)

but I really wanna get some writing done so I draped all three of my fake snakes over my shoulders and I'm gonna try to get at least a couple things done before I fuck around with games

-It was love at first sight for the both of them. Just one exchange of glances was enough for them to fall in love.

-Confessing, on the other hand... yeah, it was difficult. Both of them were very reluctant depite the VERY FREAKING OBVIOUS SIGNS that they liked each other. So, it was up for Akane and Yamato to do so.

-Ayame likes carrying Mikako around. She's strong after all, not only on her legs but also on the rest of her body.

-Matching oversized jackets are a thing and I am not projecting shut up

-Messy sleep schedule? Dear, they both have it so they decided to cuddle a lot because while cuddling they both fall asleep ;)

anyways moving on.

nenekasa are bad at planning. isn’t it obvious? the first show? they got married on a sliver of a whim, and proceeded to have twins on that same damn sliver? pretty obvious that they would probably not have a third child without extreme planning.

anyways they had a third baby. nene was shocked!!! well she was excited. tsukasa was too. the twins???

a1 was disgusted. a2 dry heaved. but they love their baby sister, k!!! i hope.

i should probably start using their names. so here’s a guide to all 3 tenma girls.

a1 is ayame tenma. she’s a star in a tetralogy i made on ao3 (iykyk….)!!!! she’s the oldest tenma girl (grandchild wise). she’s got stephen the tarantula. s

a2 is ayana tenma. she’s in the sims save. 🔥🔥 not much about her i made her on a whim

//OH MY GOD, YES! YEAH THAT FITS THE 2 REALLY WELL!

//Hey, just read it and Oh gosh - these 2 are so adorable; man the Hatano's are such an adorable family. ^^

Now that I'm free from college for the next few weeks i can finally talk about these two, the headcanon/take on Ayame's parents i made a little while back with help from my friend Poi, Bashira and Ippei Hatano.

-Ayame is their only child, she takes after her father both appearance and personality wise as both of them are pretty quiet and timid people who tend to not speak a lot. In Ippei's case, his often very subtle emotions don't help at all on the matter as it tends to give people the wrong impression that he’s serious and intimidating, but he really just doesn’t know how to express himself and is a pretty awkward dude in social scenarios just like his kid. He is a tad more talkative when around his family and close friends, but even then he doesn’t talk THAT much more but his family knows he cares for them more than anything.

-Bashira on the other hand is the complete opposite of her husband and daughter, very extrovert and talkative, it's from her that Ayame takes her habit of rambling about her interests tho unlike her Bashira will continue talking for hours and hours without getting self-conscious about it. She has a keen eye and can read through her family's seriousness like an open book if she senses there's something bothering or off about them, whenever that happens she will make them open up and try to help them with the problem.

-She wears her heart on her sleeve and is a very caring and emotional person, thought she's as curious as she is nosy and tends to ask a lot of questions to Ayame's friends as she wants to know the kind of person her daughter’s hanging out with, this borderline interrogation is made worse by the fact that she's the kind of parent that will embarrass her kid with childhood stories but Ippei is usually there to pull her aside and tell her she's embarrassing Ayame in front of her friends.

-Bashira owns a flower shop as she's been fascinated by plants and nature ever since she was little, she used to tend to her parent's garden since both had very demanding jobs and were busy most of the time which led to her wanting to know more about plants and study botanics. This passion of hers is so strong that she named her daughter after a flower (japanese iris).

-She’s known for having a “magic touch” of sorts where everything she plants grows beautiful and strong, when tending to plants she never wears gloves of any kind as she feels like touching the dirt and plants with her bare heads makes all the difference.

-These two met at a restaurant Ippei used to work in as a waiter in his late teens because Bashira used to go there often with her friends. The whole reason he was working there to begin with was because this place had a piano in the stage where artists would perform sometimes and he’s always had a love for classic music, so whenever he had closing shifts he would stay there overtime after the restaurant closed to play the piano. There were a handful of times he let Bashira get in after closing to listen to him perform.

-His dream was to pursue that kind of career and become a musician but with the bubble burst and economic recession he decided to take a more stable office job than try his luck in the industry. He does still play as a hobby though! The Hatanos have a piano in their house and he plays it for fun and when he needs to de-stress from work. When Ayame was a child he would often play for her and talk about his passion even if she didn't have much interest in music.

-They're not as close as they were when she was a kid by current time since both of them aren't great at communicating but both know the other does care for them quite a bit even if the lack of words and some not-so-well solved issues are a bit of a barrier between them.

-While Ippei isn't outright not supportive of Ayame’s athletic career, he worries more than he cheers for her after the injury she had in one of her legs because it was a very serious one that could lead to her losing movement/feeling in her leg if she goes too far in training and doesn’t take good care of herself. On the other hand Bashira is still as supportive as ever about Ayame's sprinting, she worries too but much like Ayame herself she is pretty stubborn and being a huge optimist she is certain nothing worse will happen.

-When she was still in the hospital recovering from the surgery he went to talk to her about how it was ok to slow down and that she could still enjoy running and training as a hobby, just like he did with playing the piano. He obviously said that with the best intentions in mind but Ayame was in a very stressful and awful mindset because of everything and ended up not taking it very well, as if her dad was telling her to give up on her dreams, so she ended up yelling at him in the hospital about how she won’t give up like he did and Ippei just goes silent out of not wanting to argue with his kid.

-She apologized shortly after but they haven’t had a proper talk about all this stuff? If that makes sense? It was just a quick apology since neither of them are very good at talking + Bashira doesn’t want to intervene heavily on the situation since she feels like it’s something they need to resolve on their own, just father and daughter. (Though it’s not like their relationship crumbled after this mess or anything, it’s just something that was never properly resolved)

-Both of them died in the tragedy but if they had lived long enough to be rescued by the Kisaragi foundation alongside the 6.5 cast Ippei would have joined the foundation in Rei’s division while Bashira could have become a secretary or assistant of some kind if she didn't dislike Minako to the point of being unable to stand being around her.

-In a non-tragedy setting she would already dislike her quite a bit due to the way she treated her child, but because Bashira developed a strong disdain towards Kizuna because of what happened in the killing game she directs that hatred towards her mother since Kizuna herself is not around. The gist of it is that Bashira refuses to believe Ayame could have been so cruel out of her own volition, “I know my daughter more than anyone else, she would never do such a thing!”, and so blames Kizuna for her death since she was the one who instigated the event. (She despises Akane too, but she's the mastermind so who doesn't)

-Ippei is not the kind of person to hold these kids of grudges + he mostly blames himself for what happened to Ayame because he feels that if he had prohibited her from continuing her training as a sprinter after the injury she wouldn't have been called to hope's peak and subsequently died in the proto-killing game, he would much rather have Ayame hate him for putting a stop to her dreams than her being dead.

Seeing as you're the creator of blue chickens (cool job btw, I'm impressed), I thought I'd tell you about some other funky chickens.

There's Ayam Cemani, fully black chickens. Really fun for anyone goth. There's also Cochin chickens who look like they're wearing fancy-pants. One of my favorite's gotta be Easter Eggers though with their green eggs.

Decided to move out to the city to become a chicken farmer, so. Yeah, fun hobby, huh?

I really like your blue ones though, they're so pretty.

So given I did make some suggestions for chapter 3 to re-write and now we talk about how bad chapter 4 is in SDRA2, I do think that with Hibiki surviving and Kanade outed Nikei as a Void member I have some ideas of what happen which I list off here;

I think with Hibiki, I do imagine she be very depressed and sad (since she just lost was her best friend (Setsuka) and little sister (Kanade) and even hates Nikei along with whoever that last Void member is and was like Akane in chapter 3 of DRA but Yoruko was thankfully their to snap Hibiki out of it which Sora comes in and Yoruko mentions to have clients who had suicidal tendencies and I think the idea of chapter 4 could be where Hibiki and Yoruko become friends would be nice.

Sora is starting to feel familiarity or it's where the whole Sora being Akane or someone that has the memories, pretty much she's going to be out of it for most of the chapter.

Also the 4th island won't be a glitch mess or have that tower either but the island is very Ayame centric.

Also since Nikei got outed as being a member of Void, Mikado is pretty much forcing Nikei to kill someone since again - the surprise is ruin and that means Nikei has to kill someone.

Which Nikei just traps everyone in this one building and says that if no one kills anyone in 3 days, I do picture that there is a fire that happens which Shinji saves everyone but he dies by fire.

the trial is mostly going to be of who started the fire which is obviously Nikei and unlike with Satsuki where everyone was denying it, Nikei is prolonging the trial; trying to reach for any argument and I do like the idea of us controlling Shobai so I want to keep that but Nikei just doesn't want to be executed.

I still have it where Nikei loses his hand when he tries to shoot at Mikado and the gun blows up.

That's all I got down for chapter 4 re-write of SDRA2, mostly it still has Hibiki surviving, her forming a friendship with Yoruko and of course the consequences of Nikei's actions. Mod Poi

//See, I like these ideas better, because it has a similar-enough vibe to the original Chapter 4 without assassinating Teruya's character or giving us a nonsensical motive. It builds off the momentum of the previous chapter and works to show that Mikado is a serious threat, but one that doesn't bullshit his way to victory
